Chakrawan
CHAKRAWAN's CHONK-JITSU PRESENTS: BUTTERBALL BRAWL "Where Mass Meets Mat" ——————————————————— The newest name in the grappling game, Chonk-Jitsu, is bursting onto the scene with a Massive, Meaty, Mat-based tournament to make an explosive opening! 20 Fighters will be split into 2 groups for a round-robin style tournament. Wins by Submission earn 3 points, Wins by Decision earn 2 points. Losses earn 0 points. After all fighters have fought each other, the 2 fighters with the most points within their group face off in the Semi-Finals. The winners of each Semi-Final fight will go on to face each other in the Final for the Championship! However, there will are additional incentives. During the tournament, I will be keeping score of all the TWGC points earned during fights. (Sweeps, takedowns, passes, etc.) The group with the most points earned at the end of the group stage will earn a reward! And the 3 fighters, the MVPs, who earned the most points across the whole tournament will also earn a reward! ——————————————————— Now, what are the Rewards? WINNER: $1,000,000 & Championship Belt & Custom Avatar by CelticStryder RUNNER-UP: $500,000 & Custom Avatar by Rocket MVP #1: $500,000 & Custom Avatar by Jack Howard MVP #2: $250,000 & Custom Avatar by Jack Howard MVP #3: $100,000 & Custom Avatar by Jack Howard GROUP REWARD: $50,000 per fighter. ($500,000 distributed over 10 fighters) BANTER AWARD: $100,000 (Awarded to the manager/fighter who has the funniest banter. Be respectful. But talk shit. Handled by way of voting at the end.) ——————————————————— Additional & Important Information Important questions may be added later. Marked with * The tournament will be held using standard grappling rules. Fighters must be created on (or after) the date of May 4th, 2025. Fighters must be made at 265 pounds or above. Fighters must be 18 years old or below. Once Fighters have been made, they are allowed to train and will train for 5 weeks. Training is allowed between fights. The tournament officially starts with the first event being held on June 8th. Events will be held weekly every Sunday, and the tournament will run for 11 events at a minimum. (9 for group stages, 1 for semi-final, 1 for finals) Unless the fighter makes other arrangements, they will be sponsored by Jason Swanson's Swanson's Poutine & Jack Howard's Warpath Wear. Bookmaker arrangements are currently TBA. Might be arranged by myself. "Can I test my fighters?" - An event will be arranged for May 6th for you to test your fighters in an KT rules match match. I recommend a hugging contest. "Why 5 weeks of training?" - Allow those who want to test a week to do so. Those who opt not to test are "rewarded" with 1 extra week of training. "Do submission wins count to TWGC points?" - No. Submissions end fights & win tournaments. Points show technical mastery. Both are rewarded, but differently. "What after the tournament?" - Chonk-Jitsu will be accepting both newly made fighters & pre-existing fighters. Weight Divisions will address big skill gaps à-la SSG. "Where is the organization?" - shut up i was distracted by something and closed it by accident without thinking. it'll be reopened soon and yes it's 100% happening. "Isn't weekly events + training bad?" - Fighters do not lose energy from grappling contests, meaning we can run events more frequently than KT or MMA ones. "Can I make 2 fighters?" - Currently, only 1 fighter is allowed. However, if a week before creation we're not full-up on 20 fighters, then yes. And they'll be in separate groups. Just a tip for all fighters; Set your fighters to "Thank Fans" post-fight. Helps everyone. Not required, but, helpful. (Edit Fighter Details > Post Fight - Win > Thank Fans option ticked.) "What if we don't get 20 sign-ups?" - I want a minimum of 10 fighters. We can figure it out from there. Any number above 10 divisible by 2. I can make up the last slot if need be. "How is rewarding handled?" - Winner, Runner Up & MVP earnings are all awarded directly to managers. The group-award winnings will be directly to fighters. ——————————————————— THANK YOU's Rocket (Rocket ...) Chakrawan
BRACKET STANDINGS (Group Points, in this bracket, meaning points earned by winning via Submission or Decision, not TWGC points) (TWGC points, in this bracket, meaning points earned by passes, sweeps, takedowns, etc. earned during the fight.) SEEDINGS & ORDER TO CHANGE. UPDATE MAY 8th As the tournament now features 12 fighters and only 1 bracket, this tournament will take 11 shows for the bracket stage and 1 final show for the finals. Lengthy? Yes. But well compensated.

Chakrawan
New question was asked and added that I'll answer more detailed here: "What if we don't get 20 sign-ups?" - Any number above 10 is fine. Preferably divisible by 2. If needed I can make up the last spot.

Also a format where you're not really in control of matchups and can't be accused to cherry picking opponents.

Chakrawan
CelticStryder reminded me it’s good to point out for newbies! Grappling matches do not consume energy and does not affect your manager standings. So Grappling tournaments go really fast and you can continue training throughout. So if you wanna continue your fighter post-tournament into an MMA direction, you can even prep for that while training!
Chakrawan
Shame that this lost steam so quickly. If we can’t get 10 managers I’m likely going to not run it. Buuuuuuuut I might then transition it into an MMA tournament instead of grappling. New rules, name, same tournament format, same prizes. Adding a poll if I can. Chakrawan
Alright, we're a week ahead of the creation date and we're at 6 out of the 10 minimum, 20 preferred fighters. That's not great. So, I'm guessing that the reason is that we're not huge fans of grappling. Understandable. 2 solutions to this; 1. We allow every manager to make 2 more fighters, which I'll personally struggle with due to my own roster space lol 2. We instead shift this to be an MMA tournament. We'll have a new sign-up period, I'll make a new thread. The name "Chonk-Jitsu" won't exactly fit so new org name. BUT. The rewards, concept & mostly everything else stays the same. @embalmer @Alfred @WanisOwns @NotMantas @Ynot (and to an extent @CelticStryder, @fivestripes10 and @venom09) What do y'all think?
