RISE 20 Preview Main Event & Co-Main Event By: Neon Richards Fights 7/8 & Undercard By: Humble Greco Main Event Wes "The Best" Ray (5-0) Vs. Max "Sergeant " Slaughter (4-0) This is the event that people have been waiting for since the start of the reign of Wes Ray. This fight is going to be a back and forth fight that we expect will be going to the ground quickly and be worked on from then. Either way this fight goes their is going to be a huge crowd reaction and a fight that you are not going to miss as one of these great fighters are going to be walking out of the cage with the belt and the other one with there first loss in there career. Wes Ray is coming into this fight the favorite with 3 submissions to his name and 2 (T)KO victories to it as well as people know that he is good on the feet even with his purple belt some say that he has no weakness but if someone is going to figure it out it's going to be Max Slaughter. Max Slaughter is coming into this match winning all of his 4 fights by (T)KO and never leaving the match in the judges hands. He likes to finish his fights and loves to see his opponents lying on the canvas at the end of the night. So will we see the defending champ hold onto his belt for the 4th time or will we be seeing a new champ in the 185 division? You are not going to want to miss this. Co-Main Event Max Onera (4-0) Vs. "Terrible" Terrell Jones (5-1) As you can see this card just keeps getting better and better with this next fight we will be seeing another 185 bout with one submission specialist and the other a (T)KO King. Both of these fighters are coming in to the fight pretty even on the scorecards. The one turning point in this match is obvious if it goes to the ground we will be seeing another victory on the side of Max Onera and a #1 contender shot for the belt. But if it stays standing we could see another victory on the side of Terrell Jones. Both of these fighters though could be looking past this fight at the main card event both of these fighters have been submitted by Wes Ray on his tear through the division and they are looking to get a shot at that target on his back. So will we be seeing a war on the feet or a skirmish on the ground? You are going to have to find out. Fight 8 Athan “The Arachnid” Pallas (5-0) vs Carlos “Ruthless” Lawler (6-3) Moving on to our 8th fight for tonight, we are going to be seeing the undefeated Athan Pallas attempt to break into the top 5 of the welterweight division, as he takes on the #5 ranked welterweight, Carlos Lawler. Lawler was unlucky coming into RISE when he lost to former champ, Meatball Destroyer, by unanimous decision. Though, he bounced back with a swick submission victory against Facundo Galley which brought him back into contention. For Athan Pallas, this will be his second fight for RISE. Pallas impressed in his debut by submitting Alexis Anderson in the second round. Now, Looking at the stats, Lawler is no joke on the feet nor the ground as he has shown that he is a remarkable boxer and has a purple belt in BJJ; however, Pallas’ wrestling should make Lawler’s boxing obsolete. The fight is more than likely to be taken to the ground and in the control of Pallas, but Lawler’s BJJ could give him another victory by submission. I can’t wait to see how this one finishes. Fight 7 Jean Luc Phaneuf (2-0) vs Daniel “The Hammer” Orndorf (2-0) Our first fight on the main card tonight showcases two undefeated fighters who have both dominated in their fights for RISE thus far. This fight bring a new #1 contender to the 205 division, and should be a war. Orndorf came to RISE with no fights to his name, and in his professional debut he defeated his opponent in just 21 seconds. His second fight kept his total time spent in the cage under a minute, as it only took him 32 seconds to end the fight. Orndorf has got serious power in his fists that he’ll look to use tonight against Phaneuf. As for Phaneuf, he also came to RISE with zero fights to his name, which is why it was very impressive to see the shows that he put on for the fans. Both fights went to the judges decision, but they were easy decisions indeed. Phaneuf is a decent wrestler, but seems to use it to keep the fight standing; therefore, we should expect another great show, and a serious brawl! UNDERCARD Fight 6 Tommy “T-Rex” Tank (4-0) vs “The Sleeping Giant” Rich Silva Jr (3-1) Next up we have #2 heavyweight, Tommy Tank, go head to head with #4 heavyweight, Rich Silva Jr. This one should be both fighter’s toughest fight to date. Silva should try his best to keep this fight standing, for even though both fighters have received their purple belts, Tank does have the advantage in his wrestling. Silva has showcased his boxing skills in his previous fight with Bobby Knuckles so we can expect for him to be looking to do the same to Tank tonight. It’ll be interesting to see if Tank can take him down or not. Let’s find out. Fight 5 Tony “Amped” Agotti (1-1) vs Carmelo Anthony (0-1) For the fifth fight tonight, Tony Agotti and Carmelo Anthony will attempt to show us who the better fighter is. Both fighters are pretty balanced in all areas for the fight with Agotti seeming to be more proficient in his Boxing and BJJ, and Anthony in Muay Thai and Wrestling. A win is needed here for both fighters if they want to be taken seriously, so let’s see who wants it more! Fight 4 Next we’ll be seeing Deniis Reynolds and Armend Berisha face off. Deniis Reynolds has some fantastic ground and pound that he showcased in his RISE debut against Nathan Shield. We’ll most likely see him try to do the same to Berisha tonight; however, Reynolds should be cautious in doing so as Berisha has a taste in the submission category. He was able to submit his last opponent, but it isn’t certain that he’ll be able to have any sort of control on the ground against a superior wrestler. Berisha needs a win here, but it won’t be easy with his undefeated opponent. Let’s see if he can pull it off. Fight 3 Opening up our undercard, Mike Swick will be going up against Herbert Fliegknecht. This will be Mike Swick’s RISE debut and he will be wanting to start off with a bang. Swick unfortunately came up short in his debut QFC bout, but rebounded with two KO wins that add up to a brief 20 seconds. He’ll be hoping that he can keep his win streak going tonight against a fighter who hasn’t been as fortunate thus far in his career. Fliegknecht may have fought hard in both of his fights, but he is yet to secure a win. For that reason, we can expect to see him fight his hardest tonight. He’ll most likely attempt to bring this fight to the ground against Mike, for Mike is strong in the stand up, but shows many weaknesses in his ground game that can be exploited. I recently made other plans which means quitting the clothing business a lot sooner than I was originally planning and it is not without some mixed feelings. As a new player I learned a lot from running a company and I'm proud of the success Knockdown had this far. I hope someone will be interested in taking over the company and continue running it. If so there are a lot of business opportunities both on the local Sydney scene and plans for a new merchandise partnership waiting for you. I'm finding myself just using my browser on my phone rather than the app. Too many times I have tried to do something on the app and found I couldn't, or that I save something (Event settings for example) and it won't go through such as the PPV settings.
