  1. Look at what everyone else is doing. Not just their designs (although that's certainly important!), but how they market themselves in the forums and how they establish relationships with other companies, gyms and fight orgs. Then do something they're not doing.
  2. For $2, you can sell things off pretty easily anyway.
  3. Thanks to all of you, we've climbed past $6,000 in sales by blowing out our old designs. New designs are appearing daily! We have new shirts and shorts, including new exclusive designs for California Combat Challenge and Black Knight Elite Gym! Come on in and check them out! Plenty of closeout gear still available, some for as little as $5! These designs just added: http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/9177/warrior.png http://img132.imageshack.us/img132/6610/lionshorts.png
  4. New shorts for California Combat Challenge are in the store! http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/139/cccblackshortsr1.png
  5. Thanks! New items are showing up all the time. Keep checking back!
  6. I will support the quicker degradation of clothing, which I have voiced before: http://www.mmatycoon.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1083 In my eyes, the problem is a limited market size. If the market is increased by requiring more items to be purchsed per fighter, that would help. The flip side of the coin, however, regardless of nutrition company, clothing store or fight org, is that there IS a limited market that can't support everyone who wants to run a store. No matter how many shirts can be bought / sold in a given period, there is going to be a cap on what that market can absorb. It may be the case that only 2-3 clothing companies control 80% of the market or more, a few second-tier providers split 15% and a few boutique shops have 1-3% of the market. This may very well be the case no matter how large the population of users out there, or how many shirts they need to buy, which means MMA Tycoon is mimicking reality quite well. MMA Tycoon succeeds, in my eyes, because it is not only a fighter manager simulation, but a business simulation as well. You have nearly unlimited competition in a limited market. You need to be resourceful, careful with costs, and constantly seeking opportunity in order to survive. I'm going backwards as quickly as everyone else, but the long view of all this is that only a few companies will survive........which is the point of competition and pretty much exactly what any simulation is intended to produce. In order to sustain the clithing store in this game, you need to outlast the other guy. We are in the middle of a competition to see who will do that. We can either play this out to see who survives, or we can adjust the rules to make sure everyone survives. While this thread was initiated, at least in part, in hopes of bringing about the latter situation, I prefer the former. It only adds to the excitement and challenge to see if I can build a more long-lasting business, which gives people who are only somewhat interested in the fighting a great game to play against fierce competitors who are constantly adapting. Like any game, I hope I am one of the winners, but if I lose because someone else was more creative, talented, hard-working or just plain lucky....then hats off to them. The joy of all this is that it's not REAL money, so we can have all the fun with none of the pressure.
  7. I will not be a party to collusion. There are no guarantees in the "real" world, there do not need to be any here. If I choose to give out promotional items in the pursuit of more business, I shall, and the gain/loss is at my own risk. I am perfectly happy to run my business in the spirit of free and open competition and will accept its failure if that should come to pass. Let the market determine the outcome.
  8. A couple new designs are in the store now: http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/9081/rockhardbeast.png http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/4646/blackknightgym3.jpg
  9. It's also a bad idea to change the design because, if you make a design no one wants to buy, you could just load a different design altogether on top of the bad one, and not have any penalty for creating a dud. Maybe teh problem could be solved with an intermediate step? Somthing that would allow the shop owner to upload an image that is re-sized, with a preview the owner can then approve or reject? Once accepted, the product goes "live" and it's in the store. The real thing to do, though, is to re-size the image with your editing software prior to the upload. That pretty much takes care of the issue, but an image preview prior to loading it in the store, or event posters, logos, etc. would be useful although I don't think it should be terribly high on the priority list.
  10. No worries. Just curious how it worked.
  11. Glad to see this get implemented. I tried to find more info on it, but didn't see it. Can someone post a link if it exists, or can we get some more detail? Do the excess items simply get thrown away, or is there any money returned to the store owner for deleted designs? Thanks!
  12. THanks again to everyone for another wildy successful sale! Many designs are gone forever! We're closing in on $6K in sales and it's time to start rolling out new designs. We'll push out several this week - keep your eyes open and, as always, ROCK HARD!
  13. So I get a PM telling me we've completely sold out of our basic grey shorts!! Then they ask if we can make the same design in BLACK........ OK......YOU GOT IT!!! http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/9652/basicblack.jpg
  14. SUMMER IS OFF TO A FANTASTIC START!!! We've topped FIVE THOUSAND in sales! Thanks to everyone for visiting the store. The sale is on all weekend long! COME AND GET IT!
  15. Ya, well.....this one didn't go exactly as I had planned. A good back and forth battle, unfortunately, my guy didn't go the distance and lost it in round 3. This, however, went exactly as planned.
  16. THANKS TO MMA TYCOON!! The problem has been fixed with the Got Rocked Babe shirt design. Nothing to see here, let's move along people.
  17. Jumping on this ASAP!! Not sure what happened. PM me if you have a problem.
  18. No, they'll think we're dorks for reviewing the highlight reels and giving out nicknames because of them. But, then again, you do have a point..... DORKS FTW!!!!
  19. The only reason he'll be bug-eyed is because he can't believe they let such a wuss into the ring with him.
  20. If these guys knew the story behind Melvin "Shake 'n' Bake" Kleinsadder they'd think we're dorks. NONETHELESS...... Moritz "Grappling Hook" Gauchenauer is going to twist and bend Sultanov into a cubist painting. We're going to need photoshop to turn him back into something recognizable by the time my guy's done with him. This should be a good one to watch, if you like a lot of crying and screaming from grown men. "Slingshot" Piotr Johanssen is going to rear back and fire some heavy stones on poor Starks' frontal lobe. Maybe I should change Piotr's name to "brain Surgeon" but, then again, you can't exactly perform surgery with a bowling ball....which is what his hands feel like when they punch you in the face. I just hope Grappling Hook and Slingshot never have fight each other. Scientist have yet to discover a way to contain that much ass kicking all happening in one place.
  21. Damn! Forgot where I was. No matter, I don't need an official smack thread to lay a beat down on these chumps. Might as well go stir that pot, too, just in case they aren't paying attention.
  22. ROCK HARD START TO SUMMER!!! Hard Rocking Designs is going to ROCK all weekend long. It's Memorial Day Weekend here in the States - which is the unoffical start to SUMMER! We're going to clear out all our old designs that are cluttering up the shelf FOR JUST FIVE BUCKS!! Our new designs are on sale, too! Get Oprichnik, Dynasty, Black Knight and California Combat Challenge gear at our lowest prices ever! We want to make new designs, but we've got to have more room!! Come and get this stuff out of our way!!
  23. Moritz Gauchenaur (the best name in MMA Tycoon, btw) is going to fold up Sultanov like a slinky and make him beg for mercy. To hell with tapping out, he'll pass out before he ever even gets the chance. Piotr Johanssen is going to drop bombs on Starks head until he is either knocked unconscious, or his head caves in, whichever comes first. Maybe you guys should just forfeit the fight and save yourselves the embarrasment.
  24. Since we SOLD OUT our gray Hammer and Sickel shirt, we decided to add ANOTHER design....and matching shorts! Get them in the store now! http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/4236/rockhardhammerandsickle.png http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/8956/redblackhammerandsickel.png
  25. We've added ANOTHER new design to our collection of Fight Shorts: http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/8703/silverblackscimitarshor.png Get it in the store NOW!
