  1. pfft, haters lol. idk i only put out a couple of new designs this year but ive been ranked #2/#3 all year and all my sales are purely from designs. 9/10 other companies on that board have most of all their sales thru laundry. i think that more than anything is how a sucessful clothing co should be ranked, which company gets the most sales from their actual clothing line and im willing to bet that is mine (so vote for it, thanks lol)

I agree with this sentiment, in the interest of full disclosure, I did laundry twice when I first opened VFW and since then all sales have been legit.

I will not nominate VFW myself though because if our customers don't like us enough to nominate us then we obviously don't deserve to win.

I will say that I have launched at least 10 (possibly closer to 20) new clothing items this year and am currently working on a new nine line set to represent the nine virtues.

  2. In the current meta-game people intentionally avoid "wasting" skill cap points in knees, elbows, transitions, and escapes. These things are avoided because they are only useful on the ground or in the clinch. This results in most top fighters being standup guys. Perhaps the best option is to separate things into options from each position and create more mitigating factors for positions (such as how stuffed TDs can end in the clinch).

    For example:

    Elbows (Standing)

    Elbows (Clinch)

    Elbows (Ground)

The skill cap would likely need to be raised but proportionately.
This would cause people to have fighters who throw devastating elbows but only on the ground.

This combined with making it so that dodged kicks can cause an opponent to slip down (chance based on agility/flex/balance) bringing the fight to the ground. This has the added side effect of restraining kicks which most people seem to be of the opinion are incredibly strong right now.

  3. I'm all for anything that brings new players to the game. I would be glad to donate some VIP days to this.

Clicking the forum link already does create an account automatically. That is why I had an issue where there was another Madness 5 years ago. I was forced into a forum account that already existed with no idea what the password was. Mike obviously deleted the old account so next time I clicked the link it created the forum account again as new. Also, isn't spin and win already incentive to use the forum? I won fighter slots and have my eye on a free jet, personally.

While Madness is completely correct, it wouldn't surprise me if people viewed spin and win as a tertiary element of the game and don't understand the usefulness of say a new fighter slot or a private jet. This topic has made me reconsider the structure of the Panopticon (Project Illumination All-In-One Guide) and the "Your first day in MMATycoon" section will have a specific note on the value of the forums directly after the visual explanations of the UI.

  4. Project Illumination Status Update

Since our last update things have become busy for myself in RL and my co-founder Liam Davidson (davie1903) has left Project Illumination as it's first graduate to become a member of Vendetta. We wish Liam all the best in this endeavor and will of course continue to provide any support we can to him as an alumni. This has resulted in some slight restructuring of the project but nothing noteworthy. Due to my busy RL schedule I am in the process of determining the best course to continue moving the project forward. I will likely be offering research and writing tasks internally to Project Illumination members with a tycoon buck reward for completing a given task. If there are any particular experts or writers externally that would be interested in contributing for a nominal fee or simply for the sake of helping out please pm me in game.

Since our last update (broken down by primary directive):

We have continued to provide consistent feedback for new players in alliance chat.

    - For the first time we even had the fighters of two members bump heads in a QFC.

    - Both managers carried themselves professionally and showed excellent sportsmanship,
I must say these kinds of firsts are what I personally look forward to witnessing.

    - We are happy to have added several new players to our ranks including but not limited to Macho Man (madness), Aaron Blake (edge224), and Ryne Woodsmall (twookool)

Due to lack of personal time not as much progress as I would like has been made on compiling information for the all-in-one guide

I have however put together the first visual component of the Panopticon (the new name for the all-in-one guide).

The guide is available for viewing at this link: The Panopticon

We are continuing to encourage the community to contribute (such is the purpose of this post)

There was zero feedback from the community on things that should be absolutely included in the "Your first day in tycoon section".

We understand that every member of the communities time is valuable and that perhaps we should use different methods to obtain peoples opinions on the subject. To that end I will be putting up a separate post in General Discussion focused on this subject.

We are facilitating community connections and have been actively offering mentorship opportunities to our members

I would just like to thank all our volunteer mentors once again for donating their time to assist Project Illumination, you are all an integral part of our success.

Technically we've had a graduate which puts us one step closer to our goal to become an institute of learning

    What we need:

We are always looking for more new players and volunteer mentors, feel free to direct anyone who qualifies as either to us.

Thank you to everyone who has or continues to support Project Illumination.

  5. You receive a hype boost when your sponsored fighter wins, but there is currently no system that notifies you when a fighter thanks you.

A fighter thanking you also only effects merchandise sales at an event as well.

  6. To be 100% honest the criteria is not adhered to at all and at this point it just seems to be on a whimsy which are and aren't accepted (with the exception to ones that are just terrible).

The Jax Teller one up there is mine and uses the nose, eyes, and mouth of an avatar blended onto the face. A practice which I engaged in since when I look at accepted avatars they are generally built like that.

It was rejected for being too real, which would make sense if it didn't have hamster eyes...

Madness yours in the above post is excellent and would imo follow the rules as well as any other avatar I've seen approved.

Not complaining just suggesting that perhaps people would follow the criteria if it was enforced or more specific because right now avatars that seem to violate the criteria are regularly accepted.

Here is another of mine that was accepted as a prime example of my point:

  7. Here is my exact message to Mike:

I just got my first free agent... who turns out to be someones retired PA. I can't release him because of the release delay and I can't use him in any way either since I already had a PA is this intentional?

I didn't complain I simply asked if it was intentional. If Mike had said yes this is intended behavior I would have been fine with that.

If people feel this strongly about it I will just tell Mike to keep the 20 VIP days, I'm not looking for a handout I simply asked a question.

  8. Caveat emptor.

The phrase caveat emptor arises from the fact that buyers often have less information about the good or service they are purchasing, while the seller has more information.

Defects in the good or service may be hidden from the buyer, and only known to the seller.

    Thus, the buyer should beware.

    This is called information asymmetry.

Point taken K-Rad and while I fully understand that information asymmetry is a tool leverages by sleazy used car salesmen I think Mike is quite the opposite of that. However that being said I have learned my lesson and am now checking all the profiles of free-agents I shortlist.

This problem from my reasoning is a function of the presentation.

The free-agent Fighter List shows a variety of columns including: MMA Hype, Box/MT, BJJ, Wrestle, Record, Time Left, Contract.

As a user this tells me that this list contains the relevant factors needed to make the decision to add a fighter to my shortlist... except Retired is not one of these fields. If there was a Y/N field showing whether the fighter is retired or not fine if none of those columns were there and all that is shown was fighter name and Time Left then I would think it had been designed for me to get the relevant information from the fighter profile.

However since the only retired fighters I've seen so far on the Fighter List are PAs I would venture a guess this is not intended behavior and has to do with the relatively new nature of the PA system. If this is the case then there shouldn't be a Retired field because none of the free-agents should be retired.

  9. Its not a trap, since you can easily check it .-. Its not like its hidden info and you HAVE to know it about it in order to check it. That info is always one click away from you o:

As far as sparring worth - thats because of his morale. Bring it back up and his sparring worth will be back at 4.5/5 stars.

If somebody lays a bear trap down in plain sight it's no less a bear trap. However this is irrelevant because I'm guessing this behavior is unintentional, I contacted Mike and he is going to refund the days I spend un-retiring him, my best guess is that since there is no specific mention of people picking up retired free-agents and Mike is working with me on it that it has to do with the new PA system dropping retired guys into the free-agent pool. Thanks for the morale info Victusify, it really spooked me when I thought he was going to be completely worthless.

  10. I doubt .-. You can CLEARLY see on fighter's profile if he's retired or not, so he knew what he picks. And no, you cant sack retired fighters. He prolly was retired and when Opa's acc was deleted, they all went to FA market, but you can't sack retired guy yourself. Check this page though and see if you can unretire him and sack him them, should work.

http://mmatycoon.com/retirefighter.php (if you cant acces it, goe to "gold star" in the menu on the right side and pick Retire Fighter)

To be honest I didn't look at his fighter profile because it shows his Primaries on the free-agent list and thats all I was paying attention to since he was going to be a sparbot. I also assumed that retired fighters would not be in the free-agent pool. I can however trade 20 VIP days to un-retire him but I also noticed that regardless of his Elite Primaries his sparring worth is 1 Star on everything which runs contrary to what information I've been able to find searching both the wiki and the forums. I'm guessing this might be because he has been retired but at the same time my PA is retired and still has sparring worth. While I see where your coming from with the "Well he should have looked at the profile" argument, but I don't think that a system that lets people pick up a 20 VIP day tax from free-agency is necessarily a good element to have in the game because it honestly feels like a trap.

  11. I would say anything but a true boxer with KO power should be set more towards accuracy

This will cost you a lot of fights.

Scoring is based upon damage so if you out land your opponent 3-1 on strikes but aren't set more damage than accuracy you can still lose (I know from experience). I really only go for higher accuracy with ground fighters because I don't care if I slam them or double leg them I just want them on the ground.

A good way to think of it is more like this:

If you are 100% accuracy all of your fighters skill will be used to land strikes.

If you are 100% damage all of your fighters skill will be ignored in exchange for more power (think wild overhand rights and such)

Where you land in between is basically setting how much of your skills your willing to trade for increased damage.

For this reason if your only going with punches and you have Wonderful Punches, Wonderful Agility, Wonderful Boxing your probably better off going high damage. On the other hand if your fighter is Wonderful Boxing, Mediocre Punches, Useless Agility then the only way you'll really land strikes is going high accuracy but they will likely not do enough damage to finish or win the fight on score cards so you probably shouldn't go this route. The exception to that last statement would be sliding for accurate punches with low skill only as a means of setting up a takedown.

  12. Project Illumination Status Update

In our first week we have accomplished several goals:

    Begun building infrastructure including:

    - Added 4 mentors to our mentor index

    - Created and distributed a mentor questionnaire

    Begun expanding Project Illumination:

    - We have recruited approx. 5 players some new and some experienced

    - We have continued to maintain a high level of responsiveness and activity in alliance chat

Begun planning and researching for the all-in-one guide:

    - We have obtained permission from Alexi to include his guide (with the caveat we make sure to check the info is not outdated).

    - We have collected several guides from members

    - We have had several people volunteer to fact check the guide

    - We have begun outlining the contents of the guide

    What we need:

We would like the guide to contain a section called "What to do on your first day in Tycoon".

This section should cover almost everything in a very brief way. We are looking for input about

what topics people think should be represented in this section as well as what topics should be left

out to be covered in more advanced sections.

All in all a fairly productive week. I wish I had made more progress on the guide

but RL is pretty busy right now and between it and designing posters my time is limited

(I have just reworked some previous commitments to open up some more time).

Thank you to everyone who has or continues to support Project Illumination.

    John "Pretty Boy" Thompson (260104)

Do you really think i would dare going into a fight with a sick pig like you without being vacinated against polio, cholera , ebola, malaria, the spanish flue, herpes...? And by the way, you trying to give me herpes might only be fair as I infected your mother, sister and girlfriend with AIDS !

    ENJOY THAT PUNK!

    Johnny "The Punk" Wilson

So... your response is to let me know that if I don't kill you in the cage the AIDs your infected with will?

How did a petri dish like you even get cleared to fight? I'm going to kick you so hard I'll knock the bacteria off of you.

The next time you wake up it will be with me standing over you, while the referee raises my hand, the announcer calls my name, and everyone remembers there are no more cowboys.

  14. my bad i taught you were takeing the piss and whining about a lost  .I saw your were in valla alliance not my fav alliance in the game .You change now that a good thing

The old adage "you can't judge a book by it's cover" comes to mind.

As for Valhalla, I know that people have had their issues with them but nobody in Valhalla has ever done wrong by me.

If I hadn't decided to work with Liam on Project Illumination I would still be there.

Let's call it apology accepted and move on to more pleasant things

  15. He successfully instigated 5 clinches. On the ground he was more effective than you. In the clinch he was controlling you, landing a variety of strikes.

There's still some inaccuracy regarding the text commentary on strengths of punches I believe so sometimes it doesn't seem to make sense. One of my guys recently landed "a pitter patter" jab to the forehead of an opponent which rocked him.

He had one successful transition on the ground, after I took him down not sure that many judges would call that more effective. I'm not entirely sure he was "controlling" in the clinch. He was missing a lot and getting punched a lot but I'm not sure that I would qualify that as controlling but I suppose that could be it. I'm curious if it would have been different if I had initiated the clinch.

this is my thoughts -- he was set higher and done more damage -- also he let the fight take place in his opponents strength instead of exploiting a weakness

My only thought was perhaps the damage from the knees outclassed my damage but I hardly think 8 successful strikes out damaged 35 successful strikes. I also held my opponent in his clinch and battered him with more than 3x the shots he landed but I'm suspecting that perhaps my fighter has low KO Power and knees innately deal more damage than punches (I would think they would since their connection chance seems so much lower).

Could be a number of things, my guess was that he just did more damage than you, maybe he also got points for cage control/aggression.

I'm curious if the engine differentiates between who is dominant in the clinch, he initiated all the clinches but at several points the commentary references my fighter controlling the clinch and gaining dominant position inside the clinch.

I would like to say thank you to everyone who has provided useful feedback, perhaps it was foolhardy to try and beat him inside his strength rather than attacking a weakness, it seemed effective but apparently the judges disagree regardless of the numbers. Just going to chock this one up to trying to be too clever I suppose.

  16.

Simple word bullshit <_< no way you opponent has no energy and you were fresh as a daisy in the third round. If you set any bit of damage he would have ko him sometime in the third round. If so that be the frist time i saw anyone set more damage the accuracy and land every single shot .Yeah stop wasting people time with bullony  .PS i guy that neg you

Actually not bullshit, I didn't land every shot.

Here is a screenshot of his sliders... perhaps you've heard of Project Illumination where myself and other individuals try to explain aspects of the game to new players like why a fighter can lose a fight with these statistics.

    http://i1242.photobucket.com/albums/gg537/fenixink/ScreenShot2014-11-07at102857AM.png

I'm not a troll and to be honest your negative is the first one I've had so thanks for that. I feel the same way you do, I trained clinchwork up to the fight because I reviewed his previous fights and all he seemed to have was clinch game. I did exactly what my gameplan was out strike him in the clinch. I pounded on his body for 3 rounds and landed a solid right when we broke out of the clinch. Do I understand why this fight was decided the way it was... NO. Am I whining... NO. I am trying to figure this out so whatever I did wrong here does not happen again to myself or to anyone I provide advice with sliders.

PS... I didn't bother to neg you as it would set a bad example.
