  1. After seeing Jones (IMO) clearly lose to Reyes 3-2 after winning what was already a questionable but more toss-up fight against Santos, I can't agree with your level of confidence in Jones. I see a clear path of victory to Stipe. The two toughest fights Jon has had in his career were tall boxers(Reyes and Gustaffson I).

Stipe isn't quite as varied as these guys on the counter, but he still has a very good counter right hand, the best jab of the three, and he is the most powerful puncher by far. Jones has never had much power in his hands, and I don't think Stipe would have to be as wary about getting hurt as he was with DC. If Reyes was able to hurt Jon multiple times throughout that fight, I at least see Stipe taking 1-2 rounds from Jon by hurting him with punches. I could also see a finish(Stipe easily has more punching power than any other Jones opponent), but otherwise, I think Stipe takes the first three rounds for a decision.

Jon would make for a really interesting fight, so it'd be close to 50/50, but Stipe would still be a favorite in my eyes.

I agree with you on the Reyes fight but i wonder how much he was losing interest in LHW now and if he is beginning to struggle to make 205 easily. He's a big guy and he keeps pushing his strength and conditioning so that could have been a factor too.

Stipe is very good and does have power but i can see Jones smothering him against the cage and cutting him up with elbows - will be an interesting fight though, if it happens

Dunno. Stipe can strugfle against wrestling, and if Jo es can bring the same wrestling he did during his early career, TD Stipe and elbow to death, I think it should be his belt.

Yes, Cormier ALSO has elite wrestling, but I think the Height difference here made it difficult for him to mix it up before changing levels or clinching before throwing, thus making it more predictable.

Jones was striped of the belt, so.. No champ-champ

yeah i saw that, i'd made the champ-champ comment before he gave it up / was stripped today. Am in favour of that tbh since none of the male champ-champs have defended in both weight classes. When boxers do it they usually give up the lighter belt and i think MMA should do the same - just holds up a division unnecessarily otherwise

  2. Snoozeman is typically a boring fighter imo but Colby vs Usman was one of the better championship fights of all time.

I like Burns odds vs Usman. Looking forward to it actually. I don't think fighters "resist" the cage control as much when they're not being damaged or threatened.

Yeah Burns looked crazy good against Woodley. Can't see how Usman wins this, does he really want to take Burns to the mat? The guy is one of the few mama fighters that can hang in a bjj discussion with Maia, Jacare and Werdum.

When i heard that they were fighting and Usman was the one moving camp that clinched it for me. Not often teammates fight but when they do it's usually the contender that has to leave. The champ leaving just makes me think he knows he needs to pick up some more skills to win to the camp have picked their winner.

  3. All these matchups mentioned and no one mentioned the match up that would instantly be expected to be FOTY...

    Michael Chandler vs Justin Gaethje.

    :explode: :explode:

This would be amazing! Though can't see it happening anytime soon - if Gathje beats Khabib (which i doubt) then there will be a rematch, if he loses and looks good in the loss well he will get another number 1 contender fight which i could see being vs Chandler if he beats whichever killer the UFC gives him for a first fight.

Chandler is understandably going to want top 5 money from the UFC and they will expect him to back that up. Could see him being given Tony with the winner getting a title or number 1 contender fight to follow

  4. Hi All,

Just to announce the opening of a new gym in St Petersburg today "The Lair"

Starting with 5 Sensational coaches and will add more coaches as member numbers increase. Gym is currently capped at 40 to try to keep the sessions more personal. Will look to increase the number of members as the gym grows.

As gym just opened today gym fees can't be updated, i'll be setting them at £600 per week first thing tomorrow though.

Sparring schedules will be set once enough people have joined

If anyone has any suggestions or ideas then happy to hear them - PM me in game or on here.

    Thanks

  5. I've noticed a couple of fighters that had gi's in their outfit area and was wondering if anyone can point me towards a company that sells them - would like one for a couple of my grappling themed fighters - imagining the old GSP in a Gi striding to the cage or Yoshida in Pride approach to fight attire

    Grateful for any help

  6. Hi, just getting back into playing this after originally playing it years ago. Saw an email from Mike in my inbox and decided to give it a try again. Enjoying it though and remembering dimly how much there was to learn!

Very tempted to try starting a gym too - looks interesting and will make the game a little more active participation wise i think, though slightly worried that it bombs if i do!

Fav fighter is Shogun, got into MMA in the Pride days and will never forget seeing him fighting Rampage and Overeem and basically going WTF who is this guy doing jumping kicks in the cage and making Rampage quit!
