  1. This is the official smacktalk thread for CCF(Cage Colosseum Fighting) Feel free to Talk the Smack! RULES:(will be updated) 1.Talk as much smack as possible 2,Have Fun
  2. Just a little intro to the intro.. I fancied writing something, so I've been planning this for about a month now so I don't run out of content quickly. This first one is a bit boring and I apologize, I want to make it as entertaining and fun to read as possible and next week we should get into that, in my head in this game all my fighters have a unique personality and I love imagining how they interact with each other and this is just a fun way for me to really visualize it while (hopefully) entertaining you too. There is no rhythm or schedule to when I'll be updating new episodes or the size of each one, whenever I have the urge too I guess. I'm a guy that really feeds off feedback so please let me know what you think and tell me who you like the most I guess, I did it in the version of a documentary/reality TV show and even made myself and the host a character. So this should be fun. Thanks for reading. Unicorn Powered Fighting TV show. An introduction to all the fighters. http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/1435339984Gradys%20logo%20for%20my%20gym.png Logo made by Gwad Hello and welcome to inside MMA gyms! For this series, eccentric MMA manager and MMA gym owner King Con, otherwise known as just Conor has opened the doors to let us film in his gym under the one agreement we don’t televise, show or talk about any of the coaching drills we see. Although everything else, sparring, circuit training and strength and conditioning is available footage for our cameras. We’ll be taking an inside look at his gym Unicorn Powered Fighting in Helsinki, Finland. Speaking to him and his fighters, about life as fighters, upcoming fights and about the gym. I am your host Owen Bryant and this is inside MMA gyms, a new series focusing on the fastest growing in the world MMA and how fighters live and learn before stepping forward into the cage. The shot opens up on Owen shaking hands with presumably Conor, a young man around 5’8 small in stature, brown curly hair with blue eyes, seemingly very confident. Thanks for letting us in Conor - Can you tell us anything about what we will see once we’re inside? Well you’ve come at a good time, the guys are just preparing for the morning session, they’re a big bunch of characters so beware about that - Osvaldo Martinez and Drew Peacock don’t speak any English so don’t try to interview them. The rest know what you’re coming to do and are absolutely fine with it, I think I saw Wijnbergen put some makeup on in preparation. Just don’t ask any questions or piss them off, don’t get in the way because at the end of the day this is a gym and not a studio and training comes first. Sure thing Conor, we’ll try and stay out of the way. You’ve touched on Oswaldo - Did I get that right? Yes. Well nearly, it’s OsValdo but not to worry. Alright, well the point I was getting at was you’ve told us a little about Osvaldo and Drew, can you tell us about all your fighters in your gym? Hmph, well alright. We have 12 guys training full time here, and 3 sparring coaches. I don’t know where to start - I suppose with the guys I don’t manage. We have Malik Al-Khadi a very good prospect from top, top manager Dean Sutherland in. I struck a deal with Dean and I have an open door policy for his fighters. Malik and Dean didn’t sign any papers so you won’t be able to get any more information from me or footage on him. Another guy who I don’t manage but trains here is Quincey Ferguson, he’s been here for a while now and is a good striker. Much like Malik you won’t be able to get any more info or details on him. That’s fine we already know about that, what can you tell us about the fighters you manage? Well starting with Cruz White - He’s a crazy gangster who can take a lot of punishment, he is the SPI light heavyweight champion and he’s representing our alliance Vendetta against the Bomb Squad in an upcoming fight card in Dissolution. He really is a wild card, but he’s a great fighter with a lot of potential. After Cruz White, we have Timothy McGee. A state champion wrestler from America who is quiet, not one for social interactions but is no doubt a future champion. All of the coaches give me feedback on this guy and how good he is, how fast he picks things up and in the cage he’s a real killer. How about Afeef Isa Baba? He’s starting to make his mark in Victory Combat League Yeah, you’re well informed. He’s the Saudi Arabian lightweight kickboxing champion. He wanted to make a transition to MMA, I got a phone call one day from this kid who could barely speak English. I gave him a trial and we never looked back. He has some real power. He struggles with the language, not through a lack of effort so he’s not very sociable right now. All I know is he comes from a very wealthy family. Scott Hall was introduced to the gym about the same time as Afeef, and couldn’t be more different. This guy is a good looking goody two shoes, we call him the Hall monitor, as a play on his surname. He’s a total perfectionist and hates doing things wrong or against the rules. The coaches love him for it. Speaking of rules, as I said earlier. Osvaldo Martinez doesn’t speak any English, I don’t think he’s ever bothered to learn. He’s rather obnoxious, I guess I can say this because he won’t watch this or understand this. Rules don’t apply to him, he comes into training late, he goes too hard in sparring and is quite frankly on his last warning here at the gym. Scott and Osvaldo had a push fight recently when he took Drew Peacock down during stand up sparring. Scott is our super hero, standing up for those in need. Since Peacock can’t stand up for himself. We found Peacock outside the gym one day, he can’t say anything other than peacock and we don’t know his name, his age or where he’s from. He doesn’t smile or frown, just “peacock peacock” maybe he was raised by peacocks or something. So we gave him the name Drew Peacock, sounds about right huh? Scott takes good care of him though, they live in the same apartment together. Then it’s to our three newest members, Albert Ricci, Joels Wijnbergen and Darryl Gibbons. Albert is still on trial with us, we rip him about his heritage, he has an Italian father but was born and raised in America with an American mother, he can’t speak a word of Italian but is adamant of using it as bragging rights, but the kicker is, he’s patriotic as hell about America too. So we call him “The All American Italian” until he can make his mind up about which he prefers. Joels is a funny one, you probably know him. He has his own TV show out about kickboxing and self defence, I’m sure he’ll let you all know when you interview him, it’s a story he always recites about how he got bullied because he was fat and then he got into kickboxing and wants to teach everybody else how to.. *sigh* we hear it everyday. Darryl is training here under my management while he competes in the BloodSport kickboxing tournament. He’s a fun guy, makes everybody laugh. Fucking prankster though. How many times am I going to walk into a clingfilmed doorway? I think he even made Peacock boy laugh when he did some wrestling sparring in a power rangers morph suit. Will be nice to see him kick his opponent to shit soon, he’s a talented kid. Is it true you own an apartment block 10 minutes away from the gym? That’s true dedication there. Yeah. Getting people to come all the way to Finland is hard enough, telling them they have to find their own accommodation is unsettling, so I bought an apartment block that the fighters I manage and myself live at. They all have their own kitchen, bedroom, lounge and toilet but we have a common room too. Some of these guys are really close like Cruz and Timothy, but in truth my whole roster is new and they’re all getting used to each other. And it’s still okay if we come to film in the common room of the apartments at some point? Absolutely yeah, just don’t go into their apartments, that’s their time away from fighting and there isn’t all that much of it, so be respectful. Alright, with all that said. Shall we go on in and get filming with the fighters? Be my guest, I’ll open the doors for you. To be continued….. (didn’t realise how much I’d write) I hope you guys appreciate the effort I went to to hyperlink all the stuff so you can take a look at the guys, I will be adding an up to date and relevant bio for all of them later on today. The beauty of this is, I can focus on whatever I like, whoever I like when I like. So if you guys really want a "Solving the mystery of Drew Peacock" or something I can do that easy peasy. I know what the next episode is going to be, it's going to feature all the guys and I'll leave a little tease on the reserved post. As I said before, please give me feedback, let me know how to improve, if you're enjoying it (well all of what there is.. which isn't much) let me know and let me know what you are enjoying so I know whats popular! I'd also like to do cameo appearances of other managers, just let me know if you want to be involved.
  3. most common problems upon signing up is "whats going on?! and how do i make my fighters do the face punching thing?" lol well i have been there... and ill give you some tips to get you on your way a little faster than i did when i started. before you get lost in the reading and if you dont wanna read this and just wanna fight and make money, skip down past this entire post to my next post below. that should get you started nicely! now if your here to stay a while on this game. i would suggest reading further! --- --- --- 1. you got a question? ask ANYTHING. no matter how small your question is. but before you do, try a quick search and read about it in the help sections provided in the game and on the forum. --- --- --- 2. most everyone signing up wants to FIGHT, and fight NOW! if your going to do this, create a 25 year old fighter and put him in the QFC But first, know how to make a proper fighter that you can fight with immediately! but first i want you to understand what makes a good fighter so if you lose you can understand why. Now a QFC fight takes place in 2 days, and when it happens it becomes a webpage of text. you can view the fight by reading it after it happens. this is not a "live" game. so dont worry about being online during your fight like i tried to do lol. also, read your fight from the first page that comes up upon signing in. its way at the bottom. this page is called the "spoiler page" cause it dont tell you who won or lost so you can read it without knowing til the end Now dont go and fill up your fighter slots yet! i wouldnt create more than 2 fighters until you figure things out. cause you only get 4 and you can delete one every 30 days so you might be stuck with your fighters for a while and want to build and train young 18yr old "project" fighters once you get the hang of it. If i sent you this message in a "hellow" message then reply to me with 2 of your fighter numbers and ill send them a few thousand tycoon dollars so you can begin a small project fighter. Now i dont usually respond to messages as im very busy so unless you ask a question i might not reply or event message you to let u know u got the money. so you'll have to check yourself on the finances page. --- --- --- Most important attributes of a figher in order of importants. a). sliders. heres a good slider informational. http://www.mmatycoon...=60#entry437595 . HIDDENS! your fighter will have ALL hiddens, but you can improve 3 of them a small amount. heres the link to read about hiddens. http://www.mmatycoon...fighter#Hiddens If you want to know the secrets of how to find out how good your hiddens are here is a good link! and SHhhhh! keep it secret lol. http://www.mmatycoon...topic=35753&hl= c). Proper build. having your skills line up to work together. heres an example of a great build for new players to make some quick money without training whatsoever. 160-180 cm tall (short to avoid takedowns) 265ish pounds and in Las Vegas because thats the most awesome place to fight historically Boxing 77 MT 36 (you can take the 35 points off this and put onto boxing but then a kicking fighter could take you out very easily. risky move but it could work for you. clinchwork is a lot of muay thai also tho so remember that as well) Wrestling 57 BJJ 1 Punches 110 Kicks 1 Elbow 1 Knee 1 Clinchwork 110 Striking D 110 GnP 1 Takedown O 1 Takedown D 110 Submission 1 Defensive Grap 1 Transitions 1 Escapes 1 This gives you about 40 extra points to place wherever you want. I would put them on knees, elbows, takedowns, or kicks. elbows cut more than they take energy from opponent. if your going against a pure striker, you could mix in 3-5% takedowns to make your striking more effective by making him think about more things. but dont kid yourself, you dont want this fight on the ground much even against a pure striker. And throwing kicks make you likely to be taken down so... Agility 60 (very helpful for kicks and striking defense and some clinch and more even) Flexibility 1 (needed for ground game, kicks) Speed 60 (very helpful with takedowns and striking offense/defense) Strength 1 (might want to do a few sessions of weight to get this a little higher. its very useful with clinch and ground game but used in almost everything.) Conditioning 110 (both cardio and strength is easy to train up, but if you wanna fight NOW. i'd put them high. if you have some patients then take a few weeks training them from the lowest setting leaving you room to put points on the harder to improve attributes like speed and agility) Balance 36 (needed to maintain top position on the ground, and to avoid takdedowns. so consider upping this if your afraid of takedowns.) your going to want to be a counter fighter against wrestlers with this build. if your opponent is going to be going for a takedown as his ONLY weapon. i would go 90-100% counter. and throw about 70% head shots (simulates uppercuts IRL) Single shots not combos! and only go about 40% for power on your shots to make sure you make him pay early and get him winded before he catches a lucky takedown early and wins easily on the ground against your lacking ground skills. Try to clinch 10-15% of the time. less if your opponent is great in the clinch and more if hes usless in the clinch. now once your in the clinch, set your sliders to be very active. with around 70-90% aggression and 50/50 for head/body strikes. more head strikes if hes going for only takedowns. And now your ready to book a qfc fight right off (unless you wanna up your physical skills a little more first) and it will happen in 2 days from signing up. now, if you want a ground fighter... im not really the guy to talk to at all. --- --- --- 3. Now you want to see how far your fighter can go! well, put him in a gym gyms: you dont need the best... all you need is slighly better coach than your skill your training on. dont sacrifice too much time, effort, and tycoon dollars on elite coaches when you are at an abysmal skill. And dont go under 90% energy. heres the help page on gyms. http://www.mmatycoon....php?title=Gyms But cool your jets, hes an old guy at 25 so dont get your hopes up. But from here even old guys and train up physicals pretty good so pop him some supplements and get him doing some CT, cardio, or weight classes. Now nutritional supplements in this game are not like real life! Here they are extremely important if your trying to improve your fighters skills. not an option, its essential. heres some info on supplements http://www.mmatycoon...46 so in your quest to further your fighters fame you think about a belt almost immediately because its only natural to try and place a goal. I order to do this you need to sign with a fight organization. --- --- --- 4. Contracts/orgs: its not about the money... its about your freedom, enjoyment, competition, and mostly your boss. if your locked into a contract with an asshole, its not gonna be pleasant and they could keep you trapped in it for the duration of the contract and make you sit it out. so be careful. Now dont go looking at the top fighters in an org and get scared! YOU DONT HAVE TO FIGHT THEM! and probly wont be asked to. if the org owner says you gotta fight an ELITE ELITE ELITE fighter with your SUPERB overall fighter, thats horse shit and should never happen. even if you were all sensationals vs all elites i would never force that fight. Some organizations only have ten guys in your wieght class, with only 3 of them near your skill so be sure to look around before you sign and make sure they have ample opponents so you dont have to fight any monsters. it only takes about $1,200 a week to give your fighter everything his little (make believe) heat desires. So if on average most orgs give you one fight every 2 months. (i try to give fighters one every 4 weeks), Your going to need 500-5,000 a month to train your fighter depending on how good of coaches he needs based on his skill level. If your not going to train, then thats a different story. some orgs that go out of busienss and just quit playing the game, leaving you stuck in a contract. THAT SUCKS! been there quite a few times as a rookie. you might want to make sure the org your signing with has survived a handful of events before signing a long contract with them. heres a good read about contracts and how different they can be. http://www.mmatycoon...+good +contract --- --- --- 5. sponsorships!: they probly arent going to come ur way... lol people are lazy and it doesnt help you enough in this game to send out a million sponsorships to no name fighters. so if you want one your goign to have to go out and talk to store owners. send them all a message and let them know your here to stay and want to represent their store by using their products. im willing to bet that can net you a few sponsors. im working with Brute right now and that guys real busy IRL but he might respond if u send him a message! --- --- --- 6. money. if you dont have enough to train right off the bat just message me and ill send you some cash to spend at my betting company where i take 0% of bets and its a sure thing to make money if you study the fighters and bet enough times you definitely come out ahead. HW CRAZY BETS! heres a thanks to companies that i trust and that have helped me over the years. i would love to get everyone so if i forget you message me! i mean it. The old Beez nest gym MMA's Best Nutrition - Pit Inc for being the first reliable source of weight control and everything really. Just Fight (Shirts 6$ Shorts 8$) Firebird designsFirebird Designs for being my first clothing partner and being totally awesome to work with! Steel Pen for offering me help constantly even tho i always decline lol. they are super nice people from what i can tell. I will edit this as people message me with advice on what i could change or add to it.

  6. Have a new org in London and its 250k ID restricted so if you got a guy who you think can be a champ post here
  7. Hello. I don't think that this Idea will be liked by a lot of people, but still worth a try. What about custom MMA gloves from different orgs? You could overlay arms with fists and your gloves around it infront of the normal avatar. You should have different arm-colours, of course. Just a Idea. Or what about different tapes you need to buy for your fighter(magical white tape for everyone in the beginning, i guess) , better tape means less injuries from boxing.
  8. I'm looking for all fighters from 135-265 MMA only. I am looking for fight mainly in Rio but if you fighter outside the country i wont oblige to signing them and will provide travel for young fighters. There is no ID restriction so all fighters are welcome but only fair matchups are given so if you are looking to cherry pick fights this is not the place. Notes: a challenger for the 135 pound title is needed here is the opponant: http://mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilepublic.php?FID=124896
  9. ok so tomorrow afternoon i am making my return to Muay Thai in the co-main event of th MMA world acadamy show. i will be fighting at 175, it will be three 2 min rounds. I will post the fight when i get home win, lose, or draw. Muay Thai Match full: http://youtu.be/I9XB70gAJbY There you go im wearing the blue shirt and red shorts. I won by stoppage. Here is the edited version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s_HPjevTSKA SPOILER: Here how the fight ended and the reason both our hands were raised. I went for a knee to the body he ducked into it and got kneed in the nose (which is only legal cause he ducked into it) when they started it up again i super man punched him in the nose and dropped him with a body kick so the brought him back to the corner and his coach called the fight, but since Muay Thai is not technically legal in toronto the first can't have an official winner declaired the night of but they still add it to your record and give out awards the day after. (it's fucking stupid i already know).
  10. How do you think this match would have gone down between these 2 in there prime at a catch wait of 120 ibs they are arguable the number 1 and number 2 female fighters of all time. Personally i think Megumi would have won 7 times out of ten because both of there strengths are grappling and Megumi is far better but i feel Larosa does have chance on her side just because she has the strength and size advantage and that does help since she is no slouch on the ground plus if i have to pick who has the striking advantage it's Tara.
  11. http://static.wixstatic.com/media/637964_4f646a8cfe419da9262204ee2080bdb0.jpg Episode #1: FF 1 - Middleweight Tournament Round 1 Hello, fight fans! I'm Rodrigo Oliveira and i'll be your host in the debuting episode of fuRIOus Fighting's Preview Show, bringing you all the details and information about the card, as well as breaking down each fight, and making my unbiased picks. Lace up your gloves, bite hard on your mouthpiece, and here we go! MAIN EVENT K The "Great" Rad (2-0) vs Arturo "Zico" Atunes (0-0) In the main event of the evening, Rad takes on promising prospect Atunes, with the winner advancing in the middleweight tournament brackett. LAST 3 FIGHTS K The Rad: W vs Ivica Olic (KO, Rd.1), W vs Shane Dela Cruz (TKO, Rd. 1) Arturo Atunes: Rad displayed signs of big time power in quickly dispatching his first two opponents in the regional circuit, and now looks to move to 3-0. Atunes, meanwhile, is making his professional debut. STRENGHTS K The Rad: 1) Power: As evidenced by his record, "Great" has fight-ending power in his strikes. With two first-round, striking-induced stoppages to his name, his opponents must be wary of the fists and feet coming their way. 2) Accuracy: Power is useless if you can't connect, and, so far, Rad has been able to utilize his fully. With a diverse array of punches and kicks to various levels of his opponent's body, he is landing well over 60% of his shots. 3) Experience: While just two professional fights do not make you a veteran of the sport, it's better than having none. Besides, at 25, the Indian has more pure professional martial arts experience under his belt. Arturo Atunes: 1) Youth: At just 17 years of age, Atunes is not even legally allowed to drink. The bright side is that with youth comes the advantage in athleticism and learning speed. The largely inferior training and fighting mileage on the body doesn't hurt either.2) Size: While Rad has competed as a welterweight before, Atunes will bring a 1" height and a hefty 15-pound weight advantage to the table. 3) Well-roundedness: Since he's making his pro debut, we don't know how well "Zico" fares in a real fight, but footage of him training shows us a pretty well-rounded fighter, and he will likely have an advantage in the boxing and grappling departments. WEAKNESSES K The Rad: 1) Size: As mentioned in Atunes' breakdown above, Rad is a natural welterweight and his size disadvantage may play a big role in this fight, especially if his opponent chooses to grapple. 2) Unproven grappling: While his striking is polished and dangerous, Rad's grappling skills remains a mistery, but with a white belt around his waist, it's safe to assume that he will likely be in danger if Atunes - a blue belt and a superior wrestler - takes him down early. Arturo Atunes: 1) Inexperience: "Zico" has the looks of a promising young gun, but it's difficult to preview his success while he's still at 0-0. Jitters may get to him, he may have paper-thin skin or a fragile jaw. We will know for sure come Friday night. 2) Fewer hours in the gym: The age disparity also means Rad has spent quite a few more hours in the gym than the Brazilian. As a result, he may have more tricks up his sleeves to keep the prospect guessing. THE FINAL WORD Rad is a proven fighter but he's up against the new breed. Atunes mixes things up and gets the win by submission in the first or second round. CO-MAIN EVENT Ever Last (3-0) vs Buddie "Domo" Rivera (1-0) LAST 3 FIGHTS Ever Last: W vs Leo Bagatine (Decision), W vs Gaby Castro (Submission, Rd. 2), W vs Chris Houston (Submission, Rd. 1) Buddie Rivera: W vs Donnie Biggs (Submission, Rd. 1) Both fighters are undefeated, but Last has compiled a good 3-0 record in the lowest levels, while Rivera is fresh off of his professional debut. One of them will be walking away with his first loss and will drop out of the tournament. STRENGHTS Ever Last: 1) Ground game: The Aussie has displayed a solid, well-rounded ground game is his first three fights, with outstanding guard passes, accurate ground n' pound and a high finishing rate with his submissions. On the ground, he definetely feels comfortable. 2) Arm triangle: Last's first two opponents tapped out to his arm triangle choke. Since he shows a predilection for head-and-arm strangling, Rivera would be wise to deny him side control and mount. Buddie Rivera: 1) Jiu jitsu: A brown belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu, Rivera is dangerous both on top and off his back. The smallest lapse in concentration might lead to a neck being wrapped, an arm being hyper-extended or a knee being thorn. 2) Finishing instincts: Rivera is no joke on the ground and he showed it in his pro debut. After being taken down in the opening seconds of the match, he quickly took care of businness with a picture perfect triangle choke in less than a minute. WEAKNESSES Last / Rivera: 1) Striking: This is a weakness both fighters share. Since they're exhibiting some fine ground work so far, one could use his striking to gain an upper hand. It's not the case here, as both men have unremarkable boxing or Muay thai skills. THE FINAL WORD When quality grapplers collide, fans are either treated with awesome scrambles, escapes and submission chains or a less-than-stellar kickboxing match. In this case, fortunately, it's probably the first. Rivera, the superior BJJ player, should have an advantage. Look for him to win most of the scrambles and take a decision. MAIN CARD BOUT Butch Coolidge (5-2) vs The Hunter (0-0) LAST 3 FIGHTS Butch Coolidge: L vs Reno Raines (Submission, Rd. 1), W vs Tom Plush (TKO, Rd. 1), L vs John Doe (Submission, Rd. 1) The Hunter: Coolidge will be the most experienced fighter to grace FF's cage this Friday, and this might be the big X-factor against the debutant Hunter. STRENGHTS Butch Coolidge: 1) Power: Coolidge has a 100% finishing rate in his fights so far, with all of his wins coming by way of knockout or technical knockout. Better keep your chin tucked and your shoulders high against him. 2) Experience: This is the most glaring advantage the Tenessee-native will enjoy come fight time. With 7 fights under his belt, it's safe to say he will be immune to jitters and comfortable around the cage. 3) Muay thai: Coolidges couples his power with sharp technique, as his numbers are truly amazing. He will fling out a few jabs before bursting in with combinations to force a clinch. Once there, he lands a whopping 100% of his head punches and elbows, while landing "just" 97% of his body shots. The Hunter: 1) Muay thai background: Hunter will also step into the cage with a solid Muay thai background. While we don't exactly know what his strenghts are, one can expect kicks, knees and elbows to be a staple of his game. 2) Weight: Hunter will enjoy a near 30-pound weight advantage over Coolidge, and this can be especially useful in the clinch or on the ground. The downside is that he has to nourish all that body mass, meaning he will probably tire out faster. WEAKNESSES Butch Coolidge: 1) Submission defense: Both of Coolidge's losses came by way of submission (kneebar and kimura) in the opening frame. Hunter is not a BJJ ace, but he might try to use the element of surprise and take it to the ground. The Hunter: 1) Inexperience: As heavily stressed above, this is the big factor is this bout. Hunter will have to battle the jitters and a quality opponent in order to walk out with a win. 2) Size: Also briefly mentioned above, this is both a blessing and a curse. While Hunter will probably be the stronger of the two men early on, he's also more likely to tire out faster. An experienced, patient opponent might try to grind him in the early portion of the fight and turn up the heat later. As it's the case with Atunes in the main event, he also might have a weak jaw, no heart or a Stephan Bonnar-esque tendency to bleed in his fights. THE FINAL WORD Hunter is a huge underdog in this bout. Coolidge is a proven fighter and a quality one. He uses his punches and elbows with the same efficiency shown before to score a TKO in the opening round. MAIN CARD BOUT Matheus "Lobisomen" Souza (0-0) vs Daniel Alexander (2-2) LAST 3 FIGHTS Matheus Souza: Daniel Alexander: W vs Fedor Johansson (TKO, Rd. 1), L vs Mike Mollo (Submission, Rd. 3), W vs Pete Lawrence (TKO, Rd. 3) As is the case with many of the youngsters on the card, Souza is making his pro debut against a more experienced opponent. Alexander has been busy in the Quick Fighting Championship, scoring a pair of TKO wins while being submitted twice. He also has pro grappling experience, being eliminated in the first round of Rio's D4 TWGC Qualifiers. STRENGHTS Matheus Souza: 1) BJJ: "Lobisomen" (Portuguese for werewolf) is making the transition for sport grappling to mixed martial arts. A brown belt in Brazilian jiu jitsu, Souza should have a substantial advantage on the mat. Look for him to try and grab hold of his opponent as soon as the bell rings. Daniel Alexander: 1) Experience: Alexander's busy schedule quickly got him some much needed experience before stepping up to the big leagues. After being submitted twice, hopefully he makes the adjustments needed to trumph the grappler this time. 2) Volume punching: The American averages 47 punches per fight, mixed between head and body shots and combinations, and lands those with staggering accuracy. His two TKO wins indicate that he's adept at overwhelming the opposition with leather until they eventually can't take it anymore. 3) Height and reach: At 6'1", Alexander will tower the 5'10" Souza considerably. Look for him to go for a lot of jabs and long straight punches in this one. WEAKNESSES Matheus Souza: 1) One-dimensional: As expected with fighters making the transition from "pure" martial arts to MMA, Souza's overall game is pretty rough. His striking will probably look awkward and he will probably struggle to get the fight to the ground against a wrestler. 2) Unknown: As is the case with most of the debutants on the card, we don't know exactly what to expect from Souza, since there's no tape available on him. 3) Size: The "Lobisomen" will have to navigate a big reach disadvantage in order to impose his grappling. Daniel Alexander: 1) Grappling: With all of his losses coming by way of submission, Alexander is miles behind Souza when it comes to the intricacies of the ground game. While the superior wrestler, he needs to be cautious while poucing on a hurt Souza, for example. 2) Confidence: His up-and-down run through QFC took its toll on the Miami-native's confidence. Against a good stylistic matchup, will he fold under the pressure of having to finish the fight? Will he be gun shy, afraid to get taken down while throwing heaters? THE FINAL WORD Alexander is just a bad matchup for Souza. He wil probably be able to keep standing and then it will be a long, long night for the Brazilian. Unless he can lock a hail Mary submission, look for Souza to be outclassed on the feet, as Alexander pops him with jabs and straights en route to a late 2nd round stoppage. PRELIMINARY CARD Ox "The Bomb" Baker (0-0) vs Carlos Eduardo "Zulu" Albina (1-0) In this middleweight tournament match, look for Baker to impose his wrestling early and often, either by forcing clinches or shooting for takedowns. On his way in, however, he must be wary of Albina's striking and power. "Zulu" likes to soften up his opponents with leg kicks and lots of high kicks before stepping in with power punches. Baker survives a few scares and takes a decision. "The Joker" Hudson Landriff (1-0) vs Its "Shaka" Ono (0-0) Landriff quickly finished his first opponent with an armbar, but the BJJ purple belt will have his hands full in his fuRIOus Fighting debut. Ono is a promising fighter with a well-rounded skillset and an elite team behind him. Look for his to use his wrestling to keep the fight vertical and box his way to a decision or a late stoppage. Ali Aliwad (1-2) vs Theoprhastus "Paracelso" Von Hohenheim (0-0) After coming up short in his first two bouts, Aliwad finally got a win in his most recent outing, a second-round knockout of Bart Morsen. In his FF debut, he takes on Von Hohenheim, who matches his boxing skill and has the better wrestling. Expect some heated exchanges on the feet, with Von Hohenheim coming out on top. He lands something meaningful midway into the second round and polishes off the win with ground strikes. Stevenus Regl (0-0) vs Mark "Dominator" Lewis (0-0) In a duel of grapplers, Regl, a BJJ brown belt, will take on Lewis, a purple belt who made it to the 3rd round of Rio's D4 TWGC Qualifiers. Lewis, the superior wrestler, should probably end up in top position. Their pedigree promises an entertaining ground battle. The more experienced Lewis grinds out a decision. Fracois "Papa Doc" Duvalier (0-0) vs Monster Hero (0-0) Port au Prince's own Fracois Duvalier meets Monster Hero in a battle of debutants. Duvalier comes in with a background in BJJ and average wrestling credentials, while Hero brings solid wrestling and a well-rounded game to the table. Look for Hero to stuff "Papa Doc"'s takedowns and mix things up for a decision win.
