I need someone to convince me to buy it lol

If you are a hardcore mma fan I say you should have it. I got my copy the other day and I can't stop playing it. it could have been better but I like the realistic look they give some of the fighters. they actually put fighters who have glass chin can get knock out quickly if they get hit with their chin in the air. fighters who have great boxing skills don't have great submissions etc. The game is made to have fun and I regret buying ufc 2010. but I love mma and I have all he ufc games and just add this one to the collection.

try the demo version and see if you like it

DO NOT TRY THE DEMO!!!!! RENT THE GAME IF YOU WANT TO TRY IT OUT.

The demo was awful and a poor representation of the actual game. Just go rent it if you have doubts.

Yes, the game could be a lot better, but it is very enjoyable especially for true MMA fans. The fights can be pretty fucking epic. I've had several fights where I get my ass handed too me only to pull a submission out of my ass. You need to have some sort of strategy in fights.

It's got Vale Tudo rules which is fucking awesome!

Online seems to actually work unlike UFC.

Career mode is easier, although it''s not in depth at all. All you do is train and fight, but the training is more enjoyable than UFC and like I said the fights can be pretty fuckin epic.

You can also download CAFs through Fighter Share, and there are some pretty good UFC CAFs out there, so if you are worried about not knowing any fighters you can add the stars of the UFC which means you can set up just about any Dream Fight you've wanted to see.

It's a fun game and a million times better than UFC, so rent it if you want to give it a try, but stay away from the demo. It'll probably turn you off.

I'd get it just for the nostalgia. There wont be another MMA game from EA sports so you might as well pick this one up if you didn't like the Undisputed franchise.

The sales for EA's MMA has been awful, so bad that EA is likely to announce its done with MMA games for good. THQ and the UFC however have signed a deal extending their licensing deal for future games.

No matter how much better EA made the game it doesn't matter without the UFC name attached, its like EA making a baseball game for the AAA teams.

True UFC means more to most people than MMA. Hell most people I know call mma ufc

  • 3 weeks later...

i stopped playing it immediately after finishing career mode (which was pretty shitty after the first few fights, and there's literally NOTHING at the end of your career, no ending movie or anything, it's weaksauce). the striking controls are pretty good (much better than undisputed), but i wasn't really a fan of the grappling controls. there isn't much strategy to the ground game, it's very simplistic in that you just press the A button to advance one position, or UP+A for a major advance, and press the B button to block the other guy from advancing. you can't go back a position (like if you are going for a specific submission but accidentally get to the wrong position, you're assed-out). i do like the way the submissions are much better than undisputed though, with "finding the sweet spot" on chokes, and controlling your stamina/force on limb submissions.

during career you don't have the option to change orgs (from mystic to strikeforce, or visa versa), or change weight classes. the training is definitely better than undisputed though, and doesn't feel like a chore.

and i don't know if it was just me, but it's nearly impossible to get a one-punch KO unless you've already rocked the other guy like 3 times (and let him stand up, instead of pounding him out for a tko). in fact, i don't think i had a single one-strike KO in my created fighter's entire career (40 fights), and he was a MT specialist.

i know i tire of games MUCH faster than most people though, so i'm sure a lot of people will enjoy the game longer than i did, but in my opinion this game is a rental not a purchase.

I was exactly the same, finished career mode and haven't played it since. Tried a few online games but there seemed to be very few people on there and they are all just far too worried about winning rather than making it an entertaining fight and having a bit of fun.

Career mode was decent in the early stages but then it just got boring and repetitive. I was in the HW division and other than Fedor, Overeem and Monson and Werdum to an extent nobody was even a slight challenge. Just seemed to be a case of walk in, throw random combo, TKO win!

After a while I was even having guys with records like 0-1 or 4-12 being thrown at me for a title shot. Very odd to say the least.

I wasn't a huge fan of submissions, I found the choke submission sweet spot very odd. If I was caught in a submission then I struggled but then on the other hand I lost count of the people I triangled myself including bloody Werdum and Fedor even though my submission skill was 33 or something like that. It just seemed to be the person who instigated the submission had a big advantage.

Overall I much prefer Undisputed but I haven't played that in a long time either, I see they reset the leaderboards a while ago which was a little depressing seeing all my wins and hard work go to waste but oh well.

All in all they are both decent games and easily the best MMA console games I've played but I still feel they could be so much more. It's certainly a very tricky game to make though considering everything that can happen in an MMA fight.

yeah, my guy was a middleweight in mystic, and he just fought a bunch of chodes en route to like 30 consecutive title defenses. the only real test was his final fight in the unification match against hendo. i thought i'd get a chance to switch over to strikeforce at some point, which is why i chose mystic in the first place, but in hindsight i wish i would have signed to strikeforce to face better fighters.

and i had an easy time getting limb submissions against pretty much anyone too (i hardly ever went for chokes). all you really need to do is tap at a steady pace and then tap a couple quick times when it's almost locked in and it's a wrap. was if found even funnier is that my guy was an MT specialist, but i was able to get my leg submission skill up to max (around 85) in only like 2 training camps lol, but i only ended one fight with a leg sub (heel hook). i won probably 8 or 10 fights with the omaplata though, and my arm subs were only at around 30-35.

getting quick TKO's was quite simple, but i usually would just let them stand up every time and kept going for knockouts. i had a bunch of badass replays though, where i clip them 3 or 4 times on the way down, and finish it off with a big lunging overhand right as they're on the canvas. :notworthy:

side note- was it possible to snap an arm when doing an armbar? i won via armbar a few times, and each time i kept tapping the button faster after it was already locked in for the finish, and i could have sworn i'd see their arm hyper-extend and a little "snap" text pop-up at the top of the screen for a tenth of a second, but my eyes may have deceived me because it didn't look like a break in the post-fight replays.

Yeh I forgot to say about your point about (T)KO's. I got a few KO's but like you said, the only way I really got them was to keep letting them standup until eventually instead of them falling down for a TKO it would result in a KO. Had a couple of KO's via GnP but that's it. Thinking back my toughest fight was actually Monson who took me to the 5th round, had no idea what the decision might have been but I managed to get him into the Open Guard standing up position and rained down with body shots until he couldn't move, then landed a few head punches and knocked him out with a minute or so left.

I was disappointed you couldn't change divisions once you got to the top, I chose Strikeforce thinking I'd join Mystic later but it was never an option. I'm not sure I can be bothered to go through another career mode just to fight in Mystic now.

I'm pretty sure you can't snap limbs on it, read something about it around the release time. It's to do with licensing etc and EA and Strikeforce not wanting their name attached to something like that. However there is another MMA game coming out which I can't remember the name of that doesn't have licenses and focuses more on the underground fighting and has a lot of brutal KO's and limb breaks.

Okay stopped midpost to find it, it's Supremacy MMA

I have a ton of Standing KO's from ONLINE ranked matches. You can check some of them out here: http://www.easports.com/mma/contender/id/2...r/platform/360#

I really like Opening with a Flying knee :P Numerous KO's from them when dudes are rushing in to punch me, and when it doesn't KO them flat out it at least Rocks them.

I loathe the ground game tho'. Once you get to a certain skill level of opponent online the match turns into who can land the most heel kicks first. There's no strategy to the ground game. When it hits the ground start spamming body shots whoever depletes the other guys stamina wins almost without fail. I can't even follow most people down after I Rock them and Drop them or I run the risk of never being able to get up again in that match.

It's such a fukkin' bitchy system. If I don't try to "parry" the heel kicks and body knees then I run out of stamina and get swept or subbed. if I DO try to parry the heel kicks and body knees then my opponent sweeps me the instant he sees that I'm trying to block cuz when you have the block button held down to parry you can't block a transition.

I can't believe all the people online who bitch and moan about "Button Bunnies" or "Punch Spammers". Last week I beat like 5 or 6 guys in a row standing up. Never Failed after every fight I got hatemail. The next guy I fought I was tired of being called names for trying to stand so the first time my opp shot in, I sprawled and turned him over and proceeded to Pummel him from Mount and Backmount for 14 minutes. Second round he runs out and gets dropped, I dive in, and spend the entire 5 minutes of the final round doing the same thing. Flick Stick, Push Button, Flick Stick, Push Button. Couldn't KO him on the ground although I got MAD close quite a bit.

Of course as soon as the match was over I was being called a Fag for liking to hug on guys for 20 minutes, lol.

People can complain about the stand up all they want but the bottom line is they always have a chance to amke something happen if we're in the stand up. But once it goes to the ground, if you have even .1% less stamina than your opp and they know wut they're doing, you're fights over.

Almost everyone fights online with Created guys, so of course I've got my created dudes set up. All of them have MAX Ground Defenses. The only lack in Offense. And even with max defense once it goes to the ground it's done. I get held in Guard or Half Guard so I can't stand up. Attempting to is only a waste of stamina which is already being drained with pussy ass heel kicks. Again trying to block just ends up giving up position and most likely getting swept.

One fight I was in recently the dude was using Jacare Souza. I tooled him for over 2 rounds. Stuffed every takedown. Knocked him down 5 or 6 times if not more. In the beginning of the Third I drop him and I figure ok, now I can follow him in and get the TKO, I've beat him mercilessly for 10 minutes. He survives the TKO, and I end up in Half Guard. Heel Kick, Hell Kick, Heel Kick and I'm in guard with no stamina. He goes for the armbar and after a battle doesn't get it. I immediately try to stand up with the little stamina I have saved up, he denies, Boom, another Armbar.

He tried 4 before the 5th one actually got me. But he could've chained them together infinitely until time ran out and I never could have gotten up or away from them.

Edit: Also no offense but that Supremacy MMA looks incredibly generic.

I just got it yesterday, i love it. Excpet for the ground game advancing. I know for sure you can choke your opponent out. Done it twice with head arm choke. 7-0 so far in career mode with my last fight being an absolute war. 5 minutes in total on ground, 15 minutes standing up in a vale tudo fight. Almost won within 20 seconds left, knocked my opponent down with a head kick with about 7 seconds left but couldn't get the tko. Awsome fight.
