» A.O.R.G 1 - 21.Jan 2012 Preview:

Soon, on 21.January 2012 Original Revelation Generation Amsterdam is going to make its debut in the Micro Arena. With this opening event O.R.G Amsterdam takes its first step into the world of MMA – becoming part of it and shaping its future. For the fighters involved in A.O.R.G 1 this means that they’ve got the chance to determine their career and future within the organization. This card for sure will give a few hints who will be capable of fighting for a title – especially the 185lbs title, because the whole card is widely dominated by the 185lbs division. Let’s take a look on the upcoming fights.

»“Butcher” Adolf Jonsen vs. Ron “The General” Brugnone – 185 lbs

The Butcher lines up with a record of 8-2-0 at the age of 23. His last six fights ended by decision, four of those in his favor. He has some very good and dangerous standup ability. In particular his Muay Thai is worth mentioning. You don’t want to get those knees right to your head. However he seems to lack a deeper understanding of the ground game. Being completely inexperienced on the ground his opponent Brugnone may be able to manifest his strengths – taking the Butcher down and beating the hell out of him. In fact this will be The General’s only possibility to win this battle. He lacks the overall experience with only one fight – but at least he won within the first round by the way of TKO on the ground. This fight won’t end by decision.

Prediction: The Butcher will win this one. After a long time he’ll be able to show his capability of finishing a fight again. But he shouldn’t underestimate his opponent. After the battle begins everything can happen.

»Lesean "Shady" Mccoy vs. “The Filipino Wrecking Mac" Mark Munoz – 185lbs

The second battle on the card is made up of two guys who had their first professional MMA fight at an age of 25. Mccoy was knocked out by his first enemy within the first round, but was able to take revenge a few days later. The key to victory was to take the fight on the ground. With a blue belt in BJJ and some quite good wrestling he seems to be the stronger ground guy in this match, too. Munoz fought and won one professional fight. He’s a rather well-rounded fighter with some decent standup as well as ground skills. He might be going for the knock out. He once won by TKO and Mccoy got k.o.ed pretty hard in his first fight. It will be very interesting who takes this one.

Prediction: I’d go for Mccoy by the way of submission. But in fact I cannot tell for sure who is going to dominate the bout.

»Matthew Clark vs. Guapo Destroyer – 185lbs

The third clash – between Matthew Clark and Guapo Destroyer , both fighting at an age of 25 – will be decided by Clark’s ability to stay standing. Will he be able to resist Destroyer’s takedown attempts? Or will he even try to get on the ground himself? In his last fight, won by split decision, he tried to take down his opponent a lot. This could be a very fast way to become a victim of Destroyer’s ground experience – to end up in a guillotine choke. This fight could be over very fast. Let’s see who gets the second win on his record. I bet this won’t end by decision. There’ll be a knockout by Clark or submission by Destroyer for sure.

Prediction: I’ll go with Guapo Destroyer for this one. Successful takedown followed by a submission in the first round.

»Paul “Ninja” Alson vs. Hector “Hulk” Runoz – 185lbs

The Austrian fighter Paul Alson lost his debut fight last year in December. For sure he’s looking forward to take this one. With 175 cm he’s around 10 cm smaller than his opponent, but won’t have to cut that much weight. He seems to be a well-rounded standup fighter with no interest to get to the ground. Runoz might step into the ring quite confident, because he finished his last and first professional opponent with an armbar after only 39 seconds of fighting. But because of the lack of some solid wrestling skills a takedown could be difficult. This battle could end up in some serious stand and bang.

Prediction: Hard to say. I think Alson will even his record.

»“The Darkness“ Nigel Benn vs. Pp Proto – 205lbs

Both fighters, Benn and Proto, have some quite good standup ability. The differences between those two guys are the ground fight capability and the fighting experience. Benn, holding a blue belt in BJJ, came out of two fights with a record of 1-1-0 while this fight is Proto’s debut in professional MMA. So it’s hard to say how exactly Proto is going to fight. His white belt indicates that he’ll try to stay standing the whole fight. Everything is possible: Knockout, decision and even submission – we’ll see soon!

Prediction: Again a hard one. I think Benn is going to win this fight.

»Marlo “Heartless” Santos vs. Ricky “Smitty” Smit – 185lbs

Two professional debut fights in this one! At an age of 18 Smitty is seven years younger than his opponent. Until now he spent the most time practicing his wrestling skills. For sure he’ll be able to determine the area of fighting. Because of his rather poor Boxing and Muay Thai experience he probably will try to get the fight on the ground to inflict some serious ground’n’pound. But in fact his opponent – Santos – beside his strong Muay Thai has some decent wrestling skills, too – even a BJJ blue belt. This could become an interesting ground battle, except Santos manages to stuff Smitty’s takedowns to remain on his feet. In this case he could beat him up pretty hard.

Prediction: Even if the fight goes to the ground Smitty will have some problems to finish the fight. So I’ll go for Santos by the way of (T)KO.

»Aaron Rodgers vs. Nicklas “Big Nick” Bendtner – 185lbs

In this bout we’ll see two rather inexperienced fighters battle for the win. Both of them lost their debut within the first round by the way of KO and TKO. Big Nick has some skills on the ground and some according to standup fighting – but overall no outstanding abilities. Rodgers seems to be a little stronger and better prepared for stand and bang. None of them has a serious reach advantage – all in all it looks like a very even fight. It’ll be interesting who leaves the ring victorious, evening his record.

Prediction: I’d go for some stand and bang – won by Rodgers by decision or (T)KO.

»"Big Joe" Joe Murdock vs. Alistair "The Reem" Ubereem – 185lbs

This bout will be characterized by a huge difference in age and fighting experience. Big Joe fights with a record of 7-4-0 against The Reem who will fight for a successful debut in professional MMA. Big Joe is nine years older than his opponent. The Reem will try to and has to keep the fight on the feet. Otherwise Big Joe will submit him easily. But even while fighting standup The Reem has to be careful and needs to avoid the clinch and with it Joe’s dangerous elbows. In fact this battle will be a harsh survey for Reem. If he survives and manages to dominate Big Joe he might have a bright future! If not – no real damage, he’s the underdog in here.

Prediction: Big Joe.

»Bartek "Perfect R" Radziewicz vs. Kadir "Sultan" Sahin – 185lbs

The last 185lbs clash on this card: Perfect R versus Sultan. Sultan at an age of 25 is seven years older than his opponent. He is a quite good standup fighter who showed some excellent Muay Thai in his debut fight, which he won by unanimous decision. With a white belt and useless Wrestling skills he lacks some real ground fighting skills. While Sultan dominates the standing part of the battle, Perfect R with a blue belt has an advantage on the ground. But in fact I’m not sure if he’ll be able to take Sultan down. It’ll be interesting who leaves the ring as winner!

Prediction: This one for Sultan. He’ll stand and bang.

»aRa "hh" Ewe vs. Frank Furt – 205lbs

The second 205lbs clash on this card takes place between aRa Ewe and Fank Furt. Hah – there are two cities in Germany called Fankfurt. They are...uh – getting sidetracked. Back to the bout: aRa is four years younger than his opponent and has some reach advantage. But in fact this slight advantage might not even help him, because he’s more of a ground fighter. With a purple belt he’ll for sure be interested in bringing the fight to the mat. Fankfurt on the opposite has some decent standup skills. Probably he’ll use his Muay Thai ability to score some big leg kicks- trying to slow aRa down, making a successful takedown difficult. This battle will be decided by the Wrestling capabilities of those two fighters. Both are inexperienced. Both lost their debut. And both of them are eager to even their record.

Prediction: I’d say it is 50:50. I’d go for Frankfurt.

» A.O.R.G 1 Review:

A.O.R.G’s first step into the world of MMA has been done successfully. We’ve seen some great bouts on A.O.R.G 1 in Amsterdam’s Micro Arena on 21. January 2012: Four fights ended by decision, four came to an end by (T)KO and two battles were finished by submission. $500 were awarded for the fight of the night, KO of the night and submission of the night to:

» Fight of the night: "Big Joe" Joe Murdock vs. Alistair "The Reem" Ubereem

» KO of the night: “Butcher” Adolf Jonsen

» Sub of the night: Lesean "Shady" Mccoy

Let’s take a deeper look onto the different bouts now:

» “Butcher” Adolf Jonsen vs. Ron “The General” Brugnone – 185 lbs

The first fight of the card was short and not very surprising after we’ve seen The General enter the ring. After a lot of trouble making the weight of 185lbs The General was gassed out already when he faced his opponent. He shot for one lazy takedown which was easily avoided by the general becoming nothing than a sandbag afterwards. Jonsen clinched up and broke the clinch as he liked. He delivered some elbows, some knees until he rocked Brugnone with a jab and finished the fight with a brutal head kick. I’m not sure if Brugnone will remember this bout. But we will and we are eager to see the Butcher again soon!

Prediction record: 1-0

» Lesean "Shady" Mccoy vs. “The Filipino Wrecking Mac" Mark Munoz – 185lbs

Just after the bell Munoz went for a big head kick. He scored and hurt Mccoy pretty hard knocking him down to the ground. In this moment I guess all of us thought that this fight was over. That Munoz would knock out Mccoy within the first round. But we were wrong. Mccoy showed a real fighter’s heart, ignoring the knockdown, ignoring the cut the head kick has caused. He went for a takedown and succeeded. Down on the ground he used the first moments in full mount to recover a little bit I think. He knew that he had the superior ground game. And then he brought down war onto Munoz. Shady Mccoy was unloading bombs: There is no place for mercy when it comes to ground’n’ pound. Munoz was lost – unable to improve his position he finally got finished by the way of submission. Shady Mccoy got him easily with an armbar just after the first minute of the round.

Prediction record: 2-0

» Matthew Clark vs. Guapo Destroyer – 185lbs

Unbelievable. Simply unbelievable. Guapo Destroyer did not attack once in the whole bout. He looked like he was waiting for a good counter takedown while showing some decent striking defense. At least after he got cut within the first minute of the fight he should’ve changedt his tactic. But he didn’t – as if he wanted to know how much punches he could eat before going to the ground: Seven single shots and a few combos. Destroyer got rocked after a right uppercut. Clark took is chance and rushed at him while striking wildly. The referee had to stop the fight after Destroyer went to the mat.

Prediction record: 2-1

» "Big Joe" Joe Murdock vs. Alistair "The Reem" Ubereem – 185lbs

Kicks, kicks, kicks and some more kicks! Some to the head, some to the body and some leg kicks. I counted 33 kicks by The Reem. All of them scored – all of them led Ubereem to his debut win against Big Joe step by step. Joe answered by two takedown attempts and a few kicks and punches. In fact he only scored one punch. The rest was avoided easily by The Reem. No clinch, no ground game just a lot of kicks. And it worked out pretty good. A head kick rocked Big Joe and another sent him to the mat. Just after he hit the ground Ubereem followed to deliver more punishment. The referee stepped in and saved Big Joe from some serious damaging shots. Brutal kicks. Brutal finish.

Prediction record: 2-2 Brutal! I’ll never bet against f*cking Ubereem again! Great victory.

» Paul “Ninja” Alson vs. Hector “Hulk” Runoz – 185lbs

A strange fight! Nine takedowns by Alson, 33 – yeah that’s the correct amount – 33 submission attempts by Hulk and seven standups by the referee. Only two ground strikes were thrown: The whole match was about maintaining and achieving the better position on the ground and going for (Runoz) or defending (Alson) submissions. The Ninja was able to avoid every submission attempt by Hulk and thereby showed his dominance. He endured all of the three rounds and was honored by a unanimous decision victory for that. Deserved I think.

Prediction record: 3-2

» Bartek "Perfect R" Radziewicz vs. Kadir "Sultan" Sahin – 185lbs

This was a fight that showed every aspect of the sport. We’ve seen some clinch action, some ground game and mostly stand and bang. The Sultan was able to stuff 19 takedowns out of 20 attempts but he was unable to land his shots precisely – he tried a lot! Kicks and punches en masse. But most of them missed. Perfect R showed some serious striking defense and the capability to throw punches, too. He scored with a few shots and with one takedown. Perfect R missed his chance to submit Sultan on the ground. Sahin managed to defend all the six submission attempts by Radziewicz. All in all every judge scored the fight 29:28. Perfect R was able to win the first twos round and by that to win the bout via unanimous decision.

Prediction record: 3-3

» “The Darkness“Nigel Benn vs. Pp Proto – 205lbs

The third unanimous decision of this evening’s card was in favor of The Darkness. He was able to dominate every round and every aspect of the fight. He threw and scored more punches, was able to take Proto down and dictated the clinch game. Proto landed two punches only – one to the head and one to the body. Because of this it was easy to tell that The Darkness would win by unanimous decision. The judges scored the fight with 30:27. A clear and deserved victory.

Prediction record: 4-3

» Marlo “Heartless” Santos vs. Ricky “Smitty” Smit – 185lbs

The debut fight of those two warriors went to the judge’s card. The bout was scored 30:27 in favor of Heartless Santos. In fact only few punches were thrown – it was a struggle for position a lot of the time. Smitty wanted to bring the fight to the ground quite hard and was able to do so two times. But both chances remained unused. He did not manage to maintain his position, doing some damage or submitting his opponent. He tried, he tried really hard but he failed. Santos defended well and got the win - throwing his name in for the title shot in the 185lbs division.

Prediction record: 4-4

» Aaron Rodgers vs. Nicklas “Big Nick” Bendtner – 185lbs

As I predicted in the preview this fight was won by Rodgers via TKO. Big Nick tried hard to use his advantage on the ground, he attempted several takedowns, but all of them were stuffed by Rodgers. This guy was looking for some serious stand and bang. And he banged: A surprising combination hurt Big Nick quite hard and sent him down on the mat. The referee had to step in after 1:40 of the first round. A justified stoppage and a justified win for Rodgers. Well done.

Prediction record: 5-4

» aRa "hh" Ewe vs. Frank Furt – 205lbs

The last fight of the card was a 205 lbs clash between Eve and Frankfurt. Frankfurt with a BJJ blue belt against a purple belt brought the fight to the ground four times instead of using his superior Muay Thai to deliver some real damage. He took down Ewe and was punished for this hubris. While trying to improve his position in the second round, Ewe got his back and finished him easily with a tight rear naked choke. Frankfurt missed his chance to win this bout. The one knee he was able to score in the clinch cut Ewe quite good. He had the capability to leave the ring as a winner, but instead chose to get submitted. Maybe he felt that it was time to give this game plan a try: Trial and error. Good luck next time for both fighters!

Prediction record: 5-5

All in all an interesting event and an even prediction record. See you next time!

» A.O.R.G 2 Preview – 28.Jan 2012

After the successful A.O.R.G debut on 21.January I’m proud to present A.O.R.G 2’s card to you! This time some fighters of the 155, 185 and 205 lbs division are eager to determine their ranking in A.O.R.G’s hierarchy. We will see some great bouts and hopefully I’ll be able to improve my prediction record! Take a look:

» Gold “Prestige” Mint vs. Rick Lance – 185lbs

The main event of the evening is made up of the 185lbs clash between Gold “Prestige” Mint and Rick Lance. With 5 wins, 4 losses and 1 draw Prestige has a quite balanced record. He never got knocked out in his professional MMA career. Having a look on his previous fights he’ll for sure try to remain standing and exert his serious boxing knowledge. Because of the lack of some Muay Thai and solid Wrestling skills he’ll have to avoid the clinch at all cost. Despite of his purple belt he should prevent the fight from going on the ground also while facing an opponent like Rick Lance. Lance scored all of his takedown attempts until this fight – showing some exceptional Wrestling skills in doing so. He’s dangerous on the ground as well as standing. Two of his five wins came by submission, those left by (T)KO. His only loss maybe points out a weak spot. He got subbed via Triangle Armbar in his fourth fight. It’s nearly impossible to predict how this fight is going to end. (T)KO? Submission? Decision? Everything is possible. One lucky shot, one unperceptive action and it could be over.

Prediction: I’d go for Lance. I think he’ll bring the fight to an end on the ground.

» Freddy Flint vs. Jerraud Tillman – 155lbs

Freddy Flint lines up against Jerraud Tillman in the co-main event of A.O.R.G 2. Flint comes from two submission wins via Triangle and Armbar. His quite respectable wrestling ability and his blue belt in addition to his last wins leave no question where and how he’d like to finish the bout. With only mediocre standup capability he could easily end up as a sandbag otherwise. With only a white belt Tillman has to put all his eggs in one basket. He has to stand and bang. Hopefully he is in a better condition than in his first professional fight. The referee stopped the fight after only one minute. Tillman was caught by a big overhand right followed by some serious punches. For sure he used his time wisely while training in the Amsterdam Base Academy.

Prediction: Flint for this one - adding a win to his record by the way of submission again.

» Tony “Skate Master” Hawk vs. Jacob Riley – 205lbs

Yeah. You did not misread. Tony Hawk. The worldwide known soccer… Just kidding… Skate master. If it’s his intention to bring his board to the fight we should probably send him to the WWE. Wouldn’t that be a great event? Two massive guys fighting each other with a skateboard. But back to the bout: Tony Hawk stands between Jacob Riley and his second professional MMA win. Skating all day long seems to have some good effect on the ground game. Tony has some mentionable Wrestling skills as well as a blue belt in BJJ. In fact fighting on the ground is his only strength. His standup is simply useless in the ring. The Skate Master’s opponent shows the same preferences: A BJJ blue belt and superb wrestling skills. His standup abilities are not as useless as those Hawk has got, but in fact not solid at all, too. This will be a brutal ground battle. The only question is who’ll get the submission first.

Prediction: Hawk’s first win after a draw in his debut in pro MMA.

» Grisha “Undefeated” Egorov vs. “Dangerboy” Hooch Mcginty – 185lbs

The second 185lbs clash on this card takes place between “Undefeated” Egorov and “Dangerboy” Mcginty. Egorov at an age of 18 is 7 years younger than his opponent. He already won his pro MMA debut against Mcginty by unanimous decision. “Undefeated” looked for some action inside the clinch in their former battle – whereas “Dangerboy” was and still seems to be a guy for some serious ground and pound. But in fact both of them tried to bring the fight on the ground. This time Mcginty might utilize this fact more effective, because Egorov never attempted to submit or even batter him on the mat – he just improved his position. It’ll be interesting if one of those gladiators changed his tactics or if we’ll see a repetition of their first clash. This bout is Dangerboy’s perfect and probably only chance to revenge his loss.

Prediction: Egorov will remain “Undefeated”, unless Dangerboy stays out of the clinch or at least improved his clinching ability.

» Majkel Vukancic vs. Mauricio “Galo” Feytosa – 205lbs

You won’t believe it, but in this clash Majkel Vukancic will fight a cock. A cock with a height of 188cm weighting 205lbs. Big one, huh? Seriously. He’s fighting Mauricio “Galo” Feytosa. As far as I know “Galo” is Brazilian Portuguese and stands for “cock”. Back to the bout: Both of them seem to be interested to battle for victory while standing. Yeah, you’re hearing right. Standing! Ha-ha… Will “Galo” be capable of unloading his… I think that would sound… somehow strange. Will Feytosa be able to score with his kicks? Will Vukancic try to clinch all the time again like he tried in his lost debut? Will I stop with those idiotic jokes? I’m looking forward to learn the answers! And remember: I’m just kidding around, no offense!

Prediction: I think Galo will take this one.

» Mike Hunt vs. Tomko Raszki – 205lbs

In this fight with a record of 5-6-0 an experienced Mike Hunt faces Tomko Raszki who had 3 professional fights – 2 losses and 1 draw. Hunt is based in London but has booked his flight to Amsterdam already. With sensational wrestling skills and a brown belt in BJJ he’ll be eager to bring this match down to the ground. In his last fights he scored 80% of his takedown attempts. In fact it will be a hard challenge for Raszki to keep this bout on the feet. With feeble wrestling and a blue belt he’s simply no competition for Hunt when fighting on the ground. That would be like a lion fighting a shark in the water. His only – and I’m afraid his little – chance is to remain standing and punch’n’kick like a lunatic. Some Muay Thai knowledge is the only thing that stands between Hunt and bringing an end to his 4-fight loss streak. But remember – anything can happen.

Prediction: Raszki is the underdog. I’d go for Hunt.

» Shane “Pinoy Hawk” Flores vs. Master Mind – 155lbs

A clash between two absolutely inexperienced fighters: Shane Flores who only fought once and lost fights against Master Mind. Master Mind at an age of 25 is going to perform his pro MMA debut in A.O.R.G 2. As far as I know he comes from a boxing background and mixed it up with some wrestling to be able to stay standing, otherwise he simply could not benefit from his exceptional boxing skills. On the ground he’ be lost I guess. With a height of 178 the 3 years younger Flores has a slight reach advantage. But in fact this little advantage won’t help him fighting Master Mind standing. Flores is rather mediocre in every area of the fight. A little boxing, a little Muay Thai, some wrestling and a blue belt: He needs to bring this fight on the ground and should try to finish it fast. There for sure will be no decision. He should use his remaining training time wisely. The first step would be to leave Cozad Amsterdam and start training in some better gym – followed by a good rest before the fight. You do not want to start a fight gassed out.

Prediction: Master Mind will have a fast and successful debut I think.

» Wandwasi Nsumba vs. Arczi Szybki – 185lbs

In the 8th fight of A.O.R.G 2’s Wandwasi Nsumba and Arczi Szybki struggle for victory. Both of them already had their professional debut and both lost. So there’s the chance for one of them to even his record. Nsumba coming from Uganda has some skills standing as well as on the ground. With a blue belt he probably knows a few things about submissions and defending them. But in fact his feeble wrestling might stand between him and using his ground game against the BJJ white belt Szybki. Szybki with his proficient boxing abilities has a slight advantage while standing. But in fact seems to cut quite easily. His first match was stopped within the second minute of the first round due to heavy bleeding. He needs to show some better takedown defense – or at least some solid defensive grappling – this time.

Prediction: Nsumba for this one.

» Jose Aldo vs. Peter Hoost – 155lbs

In this bout two Dutchmen – Jose Aldo and Peter Hoost – fight each other. With 145 lbs and 170 cm Aldo has a weight as well as a slight reach disadvantage. He lost his debut by unanimous decision but for sure trained hard in Chuck Liddel’s Sprawl and Brawl to even his record this time. But in fact you cannot deny that Hoost has the far better standup capability. It looks like he focused on his exceptional Muay Thai skills before deciding to go for his debut on A.O.R.G 2. His only weakness is a BJJ white belt combined with feeble wrestling. Anyhow Aldo needs some luck and good timing to score a takedown in this battle. He won’t last long if he tries to stand a bang against an opponent like Hoost. Hopefully he has a good gameplan to come up with.

Prediction: Hoost will make his debut a win. I think he will beat up Aldo pretty hard. But remember: Everything can happen after the bout starts.

» Weed Jockey vs. Nikita Orlov – 155lbs

The last fight on this card will be a standup battle. Both fighters are primarily trained in Boxing and with a white belt lack some serious BJJ knowledge. Jockey, who had no professional fight until A.O.R.G 2, focused on Muay Thai besides his boxing, but left out wrestling totally. This is not a disadvantage in this bout. Orlov might have some wrestling skills, but he never tried to bring the fight to the ground – never tried to ground’n’pound in his last three fights. And never made it to the third round in his fights. If he loses this one I don’t think that he’ll fight again. A four fight loss streak without a single win in the whole career is more than most guys can bear. That’s what Jockey should care for: Maybe Orlov comes out swinging desperately for one last time; maybe he’ll go for all or nothing. Maybe.

Prediction: I’m with Jockey for this fight. Orlov will retire after another devastating loss.
