ShanksMMA
Welcome to FightTalk! I'm your host Rage Johnson & I'm here with newly crowned champion Max Stanley. Rage : What do you think of the LHW division?Stanley: Well, I am the champion of the division, so that's cool . Below me there's a big drop off in talent, but I'm told the division is competitive amongst that lower tier of fighters.Rage: How has life changed since gaining the belt? Stanley: I'm a little more financially stable and able to train at a top gym consistently. Before I had to do a couple stints without training because I flat out couldn't afford it.Rage:What are your thoughts on Shawn Tuesday? Stanley: The kid is good, but he's not ready for me. He lacks experience.Rage: Whats your situation with Frotch & Goncalves? Stanley : Frotch was champ. I wanted the belt so he came into my crosshairs. As I began to watch tape in preparation for Frotch, I noticed that in every fight he tried to cut his opponent with elbows. It seemed cheap to me and seeing as how I"m not one to hold my tongue I made that clear. Frotch, got defensive, as guys often do when they've been exposed. We fought, I negated his cheap tactics and choked the guy out. It's pretty much an example of talking the talk and walking the walk.Stanley: Now the other guy,, Goncwhatever...I had never heard of this guy till he started running his mouth recently. I checked him out...I guess he's a amatuer BJJ competitor or something. Seems like he's trying to talk his way into a title shot. The thing is the guy just lost to Frotch, and has never fought any other top guys, so I'm not sure how that makes sense. Realistically though, he probably needs to win a few more and maybe avenge the loss to Frotch before challenging for the belt.Rage:Tell us your future plans in your MMA career?Stanley: Keep winning! Rage: Alright good to have you here man! Guest
Max Stanley: I never said that stuff in the second post. " I have to fight good undefeated fighter as myself but I believe in my BJJ and I will keep my title for sure." I NEVER SAID THIS!! I don't even practice BJJ, I am a catch wrestler. My BJJ belt was given to me honorarily by Machado, after I tapped him 10 straight times in training.
