WC: Wednesday Night Fights 1

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1430283981Wednesday.png
RECAP

Ten fights finished with seven of these ending by stoppage, need I say more?! Wednesday Night Fights 1 just presented itself with style! With over 2,950 people in attendance during the fight, the show is considered a success and its only the beginning! For the unlucky ones who didn't catch the fight and for our die-hard WC supporters, I present this review! Let's take a look back at those amazing moments right now.

Burenka Mu Mu def. Ted “The Million Dollar Man” Dibiasae via KO (Punch)

Heavyweight Division

This first fight seems surreal! Mu Mu finished off “The Million Dollar Man” in just 14 seconds of the first round! Burenka Mu Mu made an explosive World Combat debut with this victory here. The highlight reel tells it all. A good combination by Mu Mu rocked Dibiase and he followed that with an overhand right that made “The Million Dollar Man” go down like stocks in the Great Depression!

Burenka Mu Mu now goes (1 – 0) in his mma career and we expect more of the same in this fighter. As for Ted Dibiase, he is now (0 – 3) and consecutive losses in the WC makes his career in the organization uncertain.

The Dog Sharik def. Ioannis Markakis via TKO (Strikes)

Middleweight Division

Ioannis Markakis dominated in the first round, using his wrestling to score from a dominant position. Early on, we saw that Sharik definitely has some troubles on the ground and it looked like the fight won't go his way. But Markakis made a grave mistake at the start of the second round when he initiated a clinch. Whether it was overconfidence or a part of his gameplan, Markakis' allowed Sharik to start his deadly clinch game. Immiediately, The Dog Sharik capitalized in that position by throwing a vicious knee to Markakis' head and giving him a cut in the process. Further strikes using his elbows worsened the cut and rocked Ioannis Markakis. With the ring being painted red, Sharik ends the fight by landing another deadly knee this time to the body. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight and Sharik takes the win.

The Dog Sharik now improves his record to (1 – 1) and proves the his Muai Thai game is one to be feared in the division. Ioannis Markakis now goes down to (1 – 2) and suffers his second consecutive loss in a row. In addtion, doctors say that Markakis' cut would take two weeks to heal which shows how much damage he just received.

Nicolas “Nico” Gracie def. Zailer “The Tailor” Bronson via Submission (Kimura)

Lightheavyweight Division

“Nico” Gracie performed with patience and great skill as he work his way to a submission victory against Zailer Bronson. The fight started on the ground as Bronson initiated and completed a takedown. He could not do any further at that point as Gracie's superior jiu jitsu skills showed itself. Nicolas Gracie quickly reversed his position and by being aggressive in his submission attempts, he found a way to a kimura finishing with just 30 seconds left in the first round.

Nicolas Gracie (2 - 0) is now skimming the edge of the division's top 10 and he adds his second victory to date. Zailer Bronson suffered his first defeat as professional and is now (2 – 1).

Steven "Die Klappershlange" Hofmann def. Yury “The Killer” Soares via Unanimous Decision

Bantamweight Division

This fight became an exciting striking exhibition but only one could walk away victorious. Steven Hofmann did just that and he won convicingly though he did not stop Soares. “The Rattlesnake” showed his versatile striking game by mixing it up in the clinch and boxing outside. Yury Soares, on the other hand, could not do more as he sticked to the clinch all night and attempted an outstanding 65 elbow attempts and only landing 11. Hofmann landed 43 significant strikes against Soares' 16.

Steven Hofmann ended his two-fight losing streak here with an overall (3 – 2) record while Soares continues his incosistent performance ending (3 – 3) overall.

Antero Vipunen def. Michael “The Terror” Cera via Unanimous Decision

Bantamweight Division

A technical ground fight was shown in this matchup. Michael Cera was the instigator of the fight attempting 15 takedowns and getting 4 of these to go in. He also was aggressive in looking for the submission finish and 17 attempts to do so proves that statement. Yet, with “The Terror” being busy on the ground, Vipunen managed to fend off most of Michael Cera's attack. Vipunen even managed to improve his position 9 times out of 12. An outstanding 75% output in that statistic. He also managed to get a couple of good shots to the head and body for the short time the two of these fighters were standing. In the end, Vipunen got the decision. Michael Cera certainly looked like the aggressor here but Vipunen's defense scored better in the judges' scorecards.

Antero Vipunen improves his record to (3 – 1) and is now on a three fight win streak. Cera just accepted his first loss in four fights (3 – 1).

Dhal Sim def. Axe “Repeatedly” MeatsFlesh via KO (Head Kick)

Lightheavyweight Division

A dominating performance by Dhal Sim is capped by a KO victory in the early seconds of the third round. Dhal Sim imposed himself on MeatsFlesh early on by giving him a cut in the first round. And it was only the beginning. Dhal Sim's Muai Thai game gave him a whopping 80 significant strikes against a sad 9 connections for MeatsFlesh. Axe MeatsFlesh never got into a groove as his boxing and clinchwork failed him miserably. It should've ended in the second round but MeatsFlesh was saved by the bell. No worries for Dhal Sim though, as soon as the third round started he landed a monster head kick that would make you want to say, “Axe MeatsFlesh paid with a pound of flesh.”

Dhal Sim is now the #5 rated lightheavyweight in WC and he comes back with a win in this one. His record now stands at (6 – 3). Axe MeatsFlesh gets handed his fourth straight loss, totalling (3 – 5), and is now a free agent. We wish him the best of luck in the future.

Mike Jursllla def. Floyd “Pork Chop” Patterson via Unanimous Decision

Heavyweight Division

This fight turned out to be a brutal slugfest! These two guys where grinding for the whole 3 rounds and they could even be brawling for 5 rounds if given the chance! Mike Jurslla came out the victor here after a striking showcase. You can't say that Floyd Patterson didn't give his best as he also landed some solid shots against his competitor. Both guys suffered cuts and were fighting bloodied in battle. The game changer was a big one two combination that Jursllla landed in the third round effectively rocking Patterson. After that, it was all Jursllla and he definitely clinched the pivotal third. Overall, Jursllla was a more well-rounded in standup since apart from the vicious punched he threw he also landed 14 leg kicks in the fight. “Pork Chop” Patterson mostly relied on his hands to do the damage, attempting 69 punches and landing 24 of them.

Mike Jurslla still has a long way to go reach the top 10 in this stacked division. He did get his third victory overall (3 – 0) and is starting a good winning streak. Floyd Patterson's tracks got stopped in this fight and his four fight winning streak comes to a close. This is Patterson's first pro loss and is now (4 – 1).

The Crown Prince” Arthas Menethil def. Timmy “The Black Mamba” TwoTone via Submission (Armbar)

Bantamweight Division

Timmy TwoTone's woes against wrestlers and grapplers continue as he is again submitted by skilled jiu jitsu expert Arthas Menethil. “The Crown Prince” made short work of Timmy TwoTone by finishing him in just 2 minutes of the first round. “The Black Mamba” tried to clinch early on but he could'nt defend against the takedown attempt by Menethil. Once on the ground, it was a closed book. Arthas Menethil's first attempt at a tap out resulted in an armbar victory. Dominating win by Arthas Menethil and TwoTone goes back to training to do something about that wrestling and grappling weakness.

“The Crown Prince” Arthas Menethil moves on the rank 6 in the bantamweight division with a record of (6 – 1). This is also his fourth straight victory. Timmy TwoTone is now (6 – 3) and this is his second loss in a row. Note that all of his losses came from wrestling or grappling specialists.

CO – MAIN EVENT

Saladin “Quick Sand” Hussain def. Dark Terror via Submission (Triangle Choke)

Middleweight Division

A huge comeback victory by Saladin Hussain! This one is certainly for the books! Dark Terror's gameplan is definitely solid. He was mixing things up with his nice striking and wrestling. The first round was all Terror for sure. The second round, it seems to be another solid performance by Dark Terror. He rocked! I repeat, he rocked Saladin Hussain down! It was all but finished. Dark Terror was going for solid ground and pound plus really dominant position up top. Then, “Quick Sand” showed a heart of a champion. He fended off Terror's advances and got back his senses. Dark Terror didn't see it coming. It was just like quick sand! One moment Dark Terror looks to win via TKO then a submission attempt by Hussain sinks in. Dark Terror didn't have time to react and he just had to tap to the triangle choke. It ended in 1:42 of the second round. Great fight!

Saladin Hussain now improves to (12 – 6) but didn't move up the rankings. Same goes for Dark Terror where his loss is still not felt and remains the #7 middleweight with a (5 – 3) record.

MAIN EVENT

Magnus Cross def. Chang “Fung” Pi via KO (Punch)

Heavyweight Division

This fight did not disappoint! Everybody expected it to end via KO we just didn't know who'll be out cold. Well, Magnus Cross isn't sleeping as he destroys Chang Pi in just two minutes of the first round! We had it coming but we were hoping to see more striking from these two guys. I just wasn't the case. Cross went to work early and dominated the standup game. Really nice boxing coming from him and he saw an opening and took it. A massive overhand right that almost chopped Pi's head off. Nothing more to say about this fight, it was just a swift victory for Magnus Cross.

This win moved Cross to #3 in the heavyweight division and improved his tally to (15 – 8). This is Chan Pi's first loss in 5 fights and he now stands at (7 – 2).

WC: SATURDAY NIGHT SLAM

PREVIEW

World Combat Championship proudly presents Saturday Night Slam! In association with Big Bear Nutrition and Hard Knocks – New York, we bring you a ten-fight showcase of new breeds and veterans! This event is spearheaded by a fight between #7 featherweight Domenic “Demon” Domain and #2 featherweight “The Real King” Mamad Mouba! But it isn't fair to all the fighters in the card if we exclude them right? So let's have a look at all the exciting fights ahead!

Quiero Taco (1 – 0) vs. Brad “Quickie” Schmitt (1 – 1)

Lightheavyweight Division

Our first matchup is in the lightheavyweight division where we look at two young fighters hoping to make a name for themselves. Quiero Taco is a Muai Thai specialist with solid kicks. His first fight as a mixed martial artist resulted in a unanimous decision win over Test Ccc. He dominated that fight by landing fifty-nine (59) overall kicks in the span of three (3) rounds. Taco might want to do the same in his debut fight here in WC, “kicking open” the door in this battle.

Brad “Quickie” Schmitt, also has good Muai Thai and his blue belt in jiu jitsu expands his game. He is also reportedly known to have a good chin. His debut fight in the organization was against Jon Jones in WC: Dirty Boxing 1. He won via unanimous decision by constantly putting pressure on Jones using his wrestling and jiu jitsu skills. This is evidenced by making seven (7) out of sixteen (16) takedowns in that game.

If you look on paper, Quiero Taco is definitely the better man. Taco still has untested wrestling skills but it should prove formidable against “Quickie” Schmitt. I predict Taco winning this bout via decision unless Schmitt creates a gameplan where he can change levels between his Muai Thai striking and jiu jitsu.

Charlie “STRAIGH EDGE” Simpson (2 – 0) vs. Tito Jackson (0 – 0)

Lightheavyweight Division

This fight features two seemingly same fighters in terms of skill. “STRAIGHT EDGE” Simpson is a submission expert making his last two (2) opponents tap out. In only his second career win, he produced a convincing submission victory via arm triangle against Dhal Sim thirty-five (35) seconds into the first round on WC 19. The same fight earned him his first submission of the night award and rightly so as he proved his prowess against a veteran fighter and doing it under a minute. He is also said to possess a solid chin but untested so far. Trainers also informed us of his respectable boxing, so the stand up game might not be a problem for him too.

Tito Jackson is looking to jumpstart his budding mma career with a win against Simpson. With the information his camp provided us, he has almost the same tools as his opponent. The Swede also has some respectable boxing and competent wrestling plus solid jiu jitsu as well. Since this is his first mma fight we don't have more than information of what he can bring to the table.

The matchup between these two is exciting not just because they look identical on skill but also the versatility these two fighters have. We've seen Simpson be a proficient submission artist but will we see some striking here? The same goes to Jackson. Will his style coming into this fight be going toe to toe in a grappling/wrestling battle? Or set up good strikes standing up? It might be even both. With that said, I guess we will have to find out once the bell sounds and the fight starts.

“MEAN” Gene Oakerland (2 – 0) vs. Pdiddy “The Punisher” Parker (0 – 1)

Heavyweight Division

The first of two (2) heavyweight fights in the card, we have an interesting matchup in these two fighters. Gene Oakerland has been successful in his first two (2) fights as a professional mixed martial artist here in WC. Both of these wins coming from TKOs in only the first round. We have to note that Oakerland is a wonderful wrestler but prefers to strike standing. Adding another bit of information, his last two (2) fights were against wrestlers like him.

Pdiddy Parker is different in this aspect. “The Punisher” is a remarkable Muai Thai practitioner but also has a proficient wrestling experience. He presents a challenge to Oakerland because this is the first time Oakerland will face a fighter with really good striking. Parker also has natural quickness and his high kicks provide another dimension to his stand up game.

It's exciting to see what these two fighter's gameplans will be. Oakerland could still be aggressive with his striking but he should be wary of Parker's own strikes and those high kicks. Then he could also try the wrestling route but then “The Punisher” is no pushover on the ground either. Pdiddy Parker did lose his first fight via a decision but mainly because of him trying twenty-nine (29) takedowns and not getting any one of those. If he keeps that gameplan he very may well lose. Parker needs to show his versatility in the ring and keep Oakerland on his toes. Again, no clue who has the advantage here!

#8 Remi “Money” Mooki (5 – 1) vs. Jason “The Falcon” Imbert (1 – 1)

Superheavyweight Division

A Superheavyweight fight with fighters hoping to increase their rankings, we have Remi “Money” Mooki against Jason “The Falcon” Imbert! Mooki just came of a win against William Obi (5 – 2) and looks to continue his string of victories. A submission expert, “Money” has claimed 4 wins via tap out with 2 of those receiving submission of the night awards. He also has a good chin and respectable boxing which helps to bring his game into a more rounded one. Winning here is a step closer to reaching the top five (5) in the superheavyweight division.

Jason “The Falcon” Imbert has a chance of penetrating the top ten (10) if he wins this bout. His first attempt of possibly entering the upper echelon was stopped by current #7 superheavyweight Vincent Obi in a loss via KO on WC: Dirty Boxing 1. Imbert wants to bounce back from that loss by knocing out Mooki with his wonderful boxing and heavy hands. He can also fend off Mooki's grappling with his own wrestling and keeping the fight standing might be his chance of victory.

The fight is a close one. Mooki's been knocked before even with a good chin and “The Falcon” surely has KO power. On the other hand Jason Imbert's ground game is still in question so we might not be able to see that KO power at all if he gets taken down early. Another toss up for me! The fights so far are really intruiging and the matchmaking is definitely above par!

Fedor “Stunna” Sambo (5 – 4) vs. “Big” Ben Hopkins (6 – 0)

Heavyweight Division

WC veteran Fedor “Stunna” Sambo looks to play gatekeeper against undefeated newcomer “Big” Ben Hopkins. “Stunna” Sambo had wars with notable names like current #8 heavyweight Tyhma Saapas and Doyle Hawk the #4 rated lightheavyweight in World Combat. His record is not the best-looking but he still is an excellent boxer capable of ending the fight in an instant and a solid chin to boot.

“Big” Ben Hopkins is an exciting new signing in the division. With a perfect record of six (6) victories all by KO he is set on taking WC by storm. He has been a champion before in the now-defunct Blitzkrieg Fighting Championship and a win against Sambo is a perfect statement that someone new is ready to take the belt. He is an excellent Muai Thai fighter using a variety of strikes to finish his opponents. It's a wonder that Hopkins fights and wins with an aggressive style as he is known to cut easily.

I'm all out for “Big” Ben Hopkins here via TKO. He looks good on paper and the winning streak is a good boost for his morale. Fedor Sambo is unpredictable, and that is his strength and weakness. He might just come away with a win using his heavy hands and a good gameplan. Or maybe he'd just fold.

#8 Mario “The Red Plumber” Bates (3 – 0) vs. #4 Paul Teixeira (4 – 0)

Featherweight Division

Two warriors face off to see who will remain unbeaten! Following an impressive win against Larry the Lobster (4 – 1), “The Red Plumber” Bates stakes his record to show his mettle in this stacked division. So far, he's been proving to be an all-around fighter that can submit and knock out opponents. His skill set is balanced and with a granite chin, there might not be any holes to his game.

The same can be said of Paul Teixeira. He has shown his prowess in the ground with three (3) submission victories already but his win against #6 Dominic Domain (10 – 2) via TKO has shown his talent in striking as well. This is a young fighter that can certainly play with the big boys and he hopes to win this fight and get a shot at the title.

It's hard to set these two fighters apart and it all comes down to their gameplan. This is the scene stealer for this event and I just can't wait to see this fight!

#9 Charles Carey (4 – 2) vs. #4 Jack Nicholas (5 – 1)

Middleweight Division

This middleweight matchup is a test for these two fighters. For Charles Carey, this is to prove the nay sayers wrong. The criticism for Carey is that he has failed to beat formidable opponents. The losses to Eino Kolehmainen (6 – 1) and Chris Lancier (6 – 1) both via submission is a strong point in the argument. It has also given doubts to his supposed wonderful wrestling and shown his weakness in jiu jitsu. But we have seen brilliance in him. His four (4) wins via TKO has something to say about his Muai Thai game. He can definitely land vicious strikes and we can't deny that its effective in racking up the wins.

Currently on a 4-fight winning streak, Jack Nicholas wants to continue the trend by defeating Carey. He's a good wrestler with monster cardio. He dominates with his ground and pound plus his grappling has given him victories too. This is Nicholas' debut fight in World Combat and a win here is a great start to build his contender status in an already stacked division.

I think Jack Nicholas will win this with his groundwork. Carey's losses came from guys with the same skillset as Nichols. So I go Jack Nichols wins via submission.

#4 Doyle “Boiled” Hawk (7 – 4) vs. #7 Virgil “Smooth Killer” Danzig (3 – 0)

Lightheavyweight Division

Another fight with rankings at stake we have a great fight in store in this one. Doyle “Boiled” Hawk comes off of a loss against current #3 lightheavyweight Hughtavious Mingo (10 – 3). That fight was a real chance at turning some heads in a very competitive division but it ended in vain with a TKO loss. Facing Danzig, “Boiled” Hawk will surely use his great submission skills to end as the victor. He'll also use his experience to take advante of a newcomer like his opponent.

Hard-punching Virgils “Smooth Killer” Danzig is itching to provide another TKO victory in his record. His first three (3) fights as a professional all ended in under a minute with the same result: His opponents laying on the ground senseless. This will be his first World Combat fight and already ranked seventh in the division, he's going to have to fight 100% consistently to stay at the top.

We've got another situation where there's two guys and they're weakness are each other. Doyle Hawk's losses have been almost TKOs and it says something about his chin. You add Danzig's powerfull strikes and you might as well add two and two. However, “Smooth Killer” Danizg has yet proven his worth as a wrestler and grappler so there's his problem with a submission artist like Hawk. But my take is for Danzig to win it by TKO. Not just because of his power as a finisher and Hawk's chin issue but also because Doyle Hawk is going to be more pressured in my opinion. The burden of proof rests on Hawk because he needs to show that Danzig can be taken down and can be beaten on the ground. Plus, he must survive the first minute of the first round too.

CO - MAIN EVENT

#3 Marco Ferreira (5 – 1) vs. #6 Michael “Pitbull” Langhi (7 – 2)

Superheavyweight Division

These two guys are what the superheavyweight division is all about! Big punches and brawls! This is the co-main event for Saturday Night Slam!

Former Choke superheavyweight champion Marco Ferreira is all about the big shots. Five (5) of his wins have come via TKO and now that he's here in World Combat it looks like the hard punching will continue. This does not mean that Ferreira is one-dimensional. His proficient wrestling allows him to defend against the takedown and respectable Muai Thai adds depth to his striking game. He's one of the exciting fighters signed by the organization and four (4) KO of the night awards prove his aggressive nature.

The moniker “Pitbull” can be said true of Michael Langhi. Stubborn and belligerent, Langhi punches with cruel intentions. He's also racked up six (6) TKO victories out of his seven (7) wins so there's no denying what he can do to his rivals inside the ring. His boxing is considered excellent which adds technique to his already venomous strikes. Add solid wrestling that he's been developing and you're looking at a monster that you don't want to face.

I have no say in this since it's just too hard. One shot is all it takes for these two guys. What I will be expecting is an all out war!

MAIN EVENT

#7 Dominic “DEMON” Domain (10 – 2) vs. #2 “The Real King” Mamad Mouba (12 – 4)

Featherweight Division

This main event is opportunity for these two fighters to reassert themselves in their division. Both of these warriors are coming off a loss and another loss here by one of these fighter will spell trouble for their title hopes.

Dominic Domain suffered a huge upset after being TKOd by youngster #4 Paul Teixeira (4 – 0) in WC 21. Adding insult to injury, his nine (9) fight winning streak also ended that day. Now, he's coming back with a vengeance against former WC featherweight champion, Mamad Mouba. This is going to be a big win for “DEMON” because a victory over an ex-champ will not only get you back up the standings but also create noise around the division. This fight is also pivotal in gaining Domain's confidence back. Hopefully, his solid wrestling and submission skill will be enough to take down the challenge.

An even bigger loss was suffer by “The Real King” Mamad Mouba as he lost his title via submission against Ali Roumani (12 – 2). Hearbreaking is the fact the he tapped out with just four (4) seconds remaing in the first round. Now he wants to put that in the grave and beat Domain. A diverse fighter, Mouba is going to use his advantage standing up while checking Dominic Domain's ground game with his own. There is a serious need here for “The Real King” to win so he can get another shot at claiming the throne.

Considering the two fighters, Mamad Mouba is just too far ahead quality wise if you see it on paper. I find Mouba will win it via TKO.

This is the end of our preview for WC: Saturday Nigh Slam! We hope you get hyped by the match-ups and get more excited once the fighting starts! Again thank you to our partners Big Bear Nutrition for supporting the organization and its fighters. See you on the 16th of May at Hard Knocks – New York!

WC: Wednesday Night Fights 1

PREVIEW

Welcome! World Combat Championship is proud to present the first edition of Wednesday Night Fights! We want to thank Hard Knocks – NewYork for setting up the arena for this amazing event. WC and its fighters also want to acknowledge Big Bear Nutrition for being steady partners for the organization and providing great products to warriors inside the cage.

Now let's get started! We have 10 fights in store for you. Let me give you a sneak peek and some predictions at the matches up ahead.

Burenka Mu Mu (0 – 0) vs. Ted “The Million Dollar Man” Dibiase (0 – 2)

Heavyweight Division

We start our event with fighters wanting to prove something in the cage. 26-year-old Burenka Mu Mu hopes to get a win in his first fight as a mixed martial artist and getting a great start in World Combat Championship. On the other hand, Ted “The Million Dollar Man” Dibiase wants to win, following two consecutive losses by TKO, this time around to demonstrate his ability to prove his worth in the division and the organization.

Mu Mu, who is 220 cm and weighs 280 lbs, is significantly taller and bigger than Dibiase who is only 191 cm tall and weighs 240 lbs. Add Mu Mu's remarkable boxing and competent wrestling, he can dominate the standup and ground game. We can't take anything away from the Million Dollar Man though. Dibiase has wonderful wrestling but is also comfortable trading strikes with his opponents. One factor in Dibiase's arsenal is being a cornered animal. Two straight losses in WC for Ted Dibiase means this fight is “kill or be killed”. Another loss might jeopardize his career in the organization.

Can Mu Mu pop the cherry with a bang? Or will Dibiase's survival instinct kick in and make the difference?

The Dog Sharik (0 – 1) vs. Ioannis Markakis (1 – 1)

Middleweight Division

This Light Heavyweight bout features the new talent in the division. The Dog Sharik comes with an excellent Muai Thai background and is said by scouts to have natural KO power in his hits. His first fight did not go well though as he lost via a late submission in the 3rd round against journeyman fighter David Trezeguet (21 – 35) in the Quick Fight Championship. Sharik's opponent, Ioannis Markakis hopes to counter that KO power with his granite chin. Markakis' 1 win 1 loss record does not fully give an account of his ability but reports indicate a strong wrestling and jiu jitsu background for him.

These two fighters have not shown their full capabilities in the cage so this fight is up for grabs. Will superior Mua Thai by Sharik clinch the win? Or Markakis' ground game take down the victory?

Zailer “The Tailor” Bronson (2 – 0) vs. Nicolas “Nico” Gracie (1 – 0 )

Light Heavyweight Division

This match up presents two youngsters with different approaches of reaching the top of the Heavyweight Division. Zailer “The Tailor” Bronson is an example of a well rounded mixed martial artist. Bronson might have no specialty in his skills but his balanced approach in fighting already garnered him two wins in his career. His temperament is said to be of a brawler with massive confidence but he has shown to be capable of submitting his opponents and winning with points. Nicolas “Nico” Gracie might not be as well rounded as Bronson but he sure is a capable wrestler and jiu jitsu artist. This capacity was shown with a first round submission victory in his first fight as a mixed martial artist. Nico, as his trainers and training partners call him, is said to be an intelligent fighter, cerebral even, in the cage. Gracie hopes to take the fight into the ground and use his superior skills and intelligence there to gain the victory.

It is hard to decide who will come out of this bout as the winner and it might be up to the viewers and their preference for the jack of all trades or an effective one dimensional fighter.

Steven "Die Klappershlange" Hofmann (2 – 2) vs. Yury “The Killer” Soares (3 – 2)

Bantamweight Division

The two fighters here are coming off of inconsistent performances and they hope to get a win to spark better outcomes in the future. Starting with Steven "Die Klappershlange" Hofmann we have a fighter who won his first two fights then lost the next two. He has shown to be aggressive in the cage which proved to be both a strength and weakness. Hofmann does have vicious kicks that complement his striking and as I found out his nickname “Die Klappershlange” means “The Rattlesnake” so it's safe to say that those kicks have venom in them! The Brazilian Yury “The Killer” Soares comes in with a trend of winning a fight and then losing the next. Soares is a Muai Thai expert with the same or even more aggression as Hofmann espescially in getting the clinch. He can also get away with that agression because of a solid chin which allows him to move forward without any worries.

This fight seems to go to a brawl as these two fighters have a tendency to go toe to toe with their opponents. It might just only be a matter of who's going to get the big shot first to determine the winner in this bout. Can The Rattlesnake inject his deadly venom? Or will Soares play exterminator and come out the victor?

Michael “The Terror” Cera (3 – 0) vs. Antero Vipunen (2 – 1)

Bantamweight Division

The second bantamweight fight we have features submission artist Michael “The Terror” Cera and Antero Vipunen. Micheal Cera is a fighter that boasts a 3 – 0 record with all of his fights ending in a submission. The Terror wants to keep this streak alive as he faces his first opponent here in World Combat Championship. It won't be an easy task though, as Anter Vipunen is a solid all-around fighter and that versatility might be the difference in the bout. “The Terror” Cera would prefer this fight to go to the ground and because Vipunen has been submitted before he does have a chance of finishing battle with another submission vicotry. But Vipunen has shown an ability to land solid shots and score points so an over enthusiastic Cera might be in trouble.

This fight is pivotal for these two fighters because both of them present challenges to each other. This is again up for grabs. A versatile fighter against a warrior with a honed skill. A win for either Cera or Vipunen will be a boost to their stature in the division and also help them learn what can be done to improve their game.

#9 Axe “Repeatedly” MeatsFlesh (3 – 4) vs. #8 Dhal Sim (5 – 3)

Light Heavyweight Division

This light heavyweight bout is definitely going to shake up the rankings in the division. 9th ranked WC Heavyweight Axe “Repeatedly” MeatsFlesh is a fighter that is suffering from a 3 fight losing streak. And two of these losses came from our current 4th ranked light heavyweight Doyle Hawk (7 – 4). This fight means a lot to MeatsFlesh because it is a chance to get back on the winning track and go up the division ladder. It's hitting two birds with one stone as they say. He will try to get the win by utilizing his remarkable stand up game and proficient wrestling. His strong chin will also be a factor if he wants to slug it out and stay on his feet. Now, our 8th ranked Dhal Sim is actually a kickboxing veteran more than a mixed martial arts one. His first 7 fights came in PRIDE which is a kickboxing event. His first fight in the cage, however, resulted in a disappointing submission loss to Charlie Simpson. A win over MeatsFlesh results in a good comeback for Dhal Sim and will show that he has adapted to the mma game. Sim's arsenal includes his wonderful Mua Thai expertise and a gas tank that can do the long haul.

Dhal Sim looks to be a more rounded fighter than Axe MeatsFlesh and that could spell the difference in the bout. We still can't count out MeatsFlesh because he has shown in the past his power. Still, I say Dhal Sim is the favorite here and I predict a stoppage via strikes in the clinch.

Floyd “Pork Chop” Patterson (4 – 0) vs. Mike Jursllla (2 – 0)

Heavyweight Division

This fight in the heavyweight division might be a potential scene stealer in the event as Floyd “Pork Chop” Patterson is set to face Mike Jursllla. “Pork Chop” Patterson has started his mma career strong. 4 fights and all wins this fighter has literally submitted his opponents with his vicious strikes. But now in WC he faces better opposition than the ones found in QFC. This fight is certainly a proving ground to see if he can stand and fight with the big guys. Patterson is a fighter with exceptional wrestling but interestingly enough, his gameplan is to go to the clinch and use his ferocious elbows to administer damage. The Swedish giant Mike Jurslla had a great start at WC by defeating Bobby Rude via TKO. Jurslla is said to be quick and possesses solid Muai Thai and a decent wrestling ability. These skills should help him in evading the closing in of Patterson if Pork Chop's gameplan is still to clinch and set up Jurslla's striking on the outside.

The scenario of the fight is interesting since both fighter like to slug it out. From what I see on paper, Floyd Patterson is ahead. And I can't discount the dominating performances of Pork Chop against his opponents in the QFC. So, I go for Patterson here winning via TKO.

#8 "The Crown Prince" Arthas Menethil (5 – 1) vs. Timmy "The Black Mamba" TwoTone (6 – 2)

Bantamweight Division

The last undercard on this event squares off “The Crown Prince” Arthas Menethil against Timmy "The Black Mamba" TwoTone. Arthas Menethil, our 8th ranked bantamweight, will be playing gatekeeper in this match. If Menethil also gets a win here he can possibly penetrate higher up the ranks that would lead to better chances for a title shot. The Crown Prince is a submission specialist who likes to take to the ground but he has shown an effort of improving his striking as evidenced by his KO victory against CJ Stone in WC 19. Arthas Menethil would probably still be focused on getting the ground game started since it is his forte. Menethil's opponent, Timmy TwoTone, is making his debut fight for WC in this event. A veteran of 8 fights and winning 6, The Black Mamba has a solid Muai Thai base and has power in his strikes with 5 of his 6 wins come from TKOs. He has been unlucky in his last three fights winning only one of these. A crucial point to notice is that TwoTone's two losses came from fighters with really good wrestling and jiu jitsu. This fight is Timmy TwoTone's chance to prove to his doubters that he can take on good wrestlers and grapplers.

From what I see, what Menethil's advantage over the ground game is counerbalanced by better Muai Thai and boxing by TwoTone. I haven't seen The Crown Prince take on a formidable striker before TwoTone so I don't have a guess on how he'll fare. But what we have is proof that The Black Mamba has a hard time on the ground. So from the information I have, I'll go for “The Crown Prince” Arthas Menethis to win it via unanimous decision or submission.

#7 Dark Terror (5 – 2) vs. #4 Saladin "Quick Sand" Hussain (11 – 6)

Middleweight Division

Here is our co-main event! Dark Terror versus Saladin "Quick Sand" Hussain! This is an exciting matchup as these two fighters are masters of groundwork and we expect to see some amazing wrestling and jiu jitsu. Starting of with Dark Terror, we have a fighter who is a vicious brawler that will take you on standing or on the ground. He is a wonderful wrestler and he uses that advantage to take control of the top position and land sinister blows to his opponents. With all of his wins coming by way of TKO we expect Terror to do the same here against Hussain. “Quick Sand” Hussain uses the ground as well but with a different weapon of choice. His submissions are menacing and his 3 sumbission of the night awards is a testament to the level of skill he has in that area. Hussain recently recorded a win against rank 2 middleweight Billy Tinkl (13 – 7) and a win here can give him closer to his title hopes.

Looking at these two fighters it can go either way. If they both decide to go on the ground early then I see Hussain getting the edge because of his superior jiu jitsu skills. Quick Sand can fend off Terror's wrestling with his own and the submission will be there for the taking I think. But if Terror would try to stay standing and set up his striking then I think Dark Terror takes this one.

#4 Magnus “Bear” Cross (14 – 8) vs. #7 Chang "Fung" Pi (7 – 1)

Heavyweight Division

We go to our main event! Magnus “Bear” Cross going toe to toe with Chang “Fung” Pi! This fight is definitely a game changer for both of these fighters and the division as the winner of this bout will surely be noticed and might be in contention for the title! The Island semi-finalist Magnus “Bear” Cross is set to continue his winning streak here in WC. His last two fights have ended in TKO victories and one of those wins was against former World Combat champion #6 San Terra (14 – 8). Furthermore, all of his wins came from TKOs and that is due to the fact that he has exceptional boxing for his standup game superb wrestling for ground and pound. Cross also possesses iron lungs and this allows him to continue that barrage of strikes. Chang “Fung” Pi is relatively a newcomer in the sport but has shown great promise by winning seven of his eight fights with 6 of those wins via TKO. Pi is also a fearsome striker and is willing to exchange blows with anyone. This surely going to be a brawl between these two fighters!

I predict Cross is going to win by virtue of experience. Cross might be younger but the frequency of his fights have improved his game immensely and his skill might be beyond his age. If Pi can't mix things up and just go head to head with Cross then I don't think it's going to end well. Cross via TKO victory.

We hope you enjoy this preview of WC: Wednesday Night Fights 1 and we hope to see you on the 13th of May!

WC: SATURDAY NIGHT SLAM

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1431528067satrdaynight.gif

RECAP

Hard Knocks – New York was packed on Saturday as World Combat presented 10 fights of pure mma action! This is M. Maestro giving you a recap on what happened during that eventful evening. I really hope you're not reading this, because if you are then you probably missed seeing awesome fighting! Let's get started!

Quiero Taco def. Brad Schmitt via KO (Head Kick)

Lightheavyweight Division

Quiero Taco improves his record to (2 – 0) following a brutal KO win against the now (1 – 2) Brad Schmitt. This fight lasted only one round as Taco unleashes his fearsome kicks unto his opponents. Two big head kicks were seen. The first kick gave Schmitt wobbly legs and the second knocked him out cold. The fight ended in just three minutes . Nothing more to say about that.

Charlie Simpson def. Tito Jackson via Submission (Arm Triangle)

Lightheavyweight Division

Another fight that ended in the first round, Tito Jackson stumbles to (0 – 1) in his debut and his first fight as a pro when he got submitted by Charlie Simpson in the first round. The fight started with Simpson going for the takedown and nailing it. From there, his aggressive jiu jitsu kicked in and after a few attempts he finally got into prime position finishing it with an arm triangle. Charlie Simpson now goes to (3 – 0) with this win here and moves up to #9 in the division.

Pdiddy “The Punisher” Parker def. “MEAN” Gene Oakerland via Decision (Unanimous)

Heavyweight Division

Pdiddy Parker finally puts a win in his column as he becomes (1 – 1) when he dominated Gene Oakerland in a unanimous decision win. It was never a game for Oakerland as he was reduced to a Muai Thai punching bag. The fight is almost all clinch which suited “The Punisher” Parker's style. Oakerland never got it going and did not adapt to the gameplan. Parker landed solid elbows all throughout the fight and that scored him points and gave him the win. “MEAN” Gene Oakerland's record is now (2 – 1) after this loss.

Jason “The Falcon” Imbert def. Remi “Money” Mooki via TKO (Cuts)

Superheavyweight Division

Jason Imbert completed the upset victory over Remi Mooki as the fight was stopped in favor of Imbert because of Mooki's cuts. The cut started early in the first round and Imbert capitalized on it. Jason Imbert showed his accurate striking as he hit 23 out of 24 head punches and 15 out of 16 body punches. These punches really affected the cut on Mooki's head. After a few minutes of the third round, the referee decided to stop the fight since the bleeding was too much.

Remi Mooki's injury let him fall to (5 – 2) and also drops to #9 in the rankings while Imbert's win gives him a (2 – 1) record.

Fedor “Stunna” Sambo def. “Big Ben” Ben Hopkins via Decision (Unanimous)

Heavyweight Division

Fedor Sambo proved that he's no easy pick as he hands Ben Hopkins his first professional loss as a mixed martial artist. The both of them fought a stand up battle but Sambo proved more efficient as he lands accurate head punches and more volume that Hopkins. We gotta give some credit to Ben Hopkins though, who tried his best using his leg kicks but Sambo was more aggressive and landed more shots that reflected on the judges scorecard positively.

Ben Hopkins ended his winning streak and is now (6 – 1). Fedor Sambo now moves to (6 – 4) and is currently in the edge of breaking into the top 10 heavyweights in the division.

Paul Teixeira def. Mario “The Red Plumber” Bates via Decision (Unanimous)

Featherweight Division

Mario Bates had a great start but eventually fell on the next rounds to lose via decision over Paul Teixeira. Bates landed a solid uppercut that rocked Teixeira in the first round. However, he did not capitalize on the advantage but managed to win that round clearly. The next two round showed Teixeira's ground game and efficient striking. Paul Teixeira mixed it up well during those rounds and added point after point in the judges scorecard. He gets a win but nothing really fancy happened.

Paul Teixeira is still undefeated with a (5 – 0) record. “The Red Plumber” Bates gets his first loss and now stands (3 – 1).

Charles Carey def. Jack Nicholas via KO (Head Kick)

Middleweight Division

This fight shows that when you're in the cage, anything can happen! Charles Carey gets a huge KO victory over Jack Nicholas. Early in the fight, Nicholas imposed his gameplan on Carey which is to go to the ground. It was actually successful, getting an early takedown and maintaining it in the first round. The second round could just go the same but it didn't. All it took was a loss of focus for just a second by Jack Nichols and Charles Carey smashes a deadly head kick! Nichols by then was out cold. Great victory by Carey.

Jack Nicholas slips to the #5 rank in the middleweight division with a (5 – 2) record. Charles Carey adds another win to his name and becomes (5 – 2). He also moves up from #8 to #6 ranked middleweight in World Combat.

Virgil “Smooth Killer” Danzig def. Doyle “Boiled” Hawk via TKO (Strikes)

Lightheavyweight Division

Another one for the books! This is a fight that proves that big shots are game changers! Definitely a TKO worth replaying as Virgil Danzig beats Doyle Hawk via TKO! This is a similar fight to Carey vs. Nichols. One guy dominating the fight. One guy who you'd think would win convicingly. Then, boom! Doyle Hawk was that guy. We have to appreciate that his gameplan was superb as he really dominated the fight against Danzig. But you really got to be amazed at this Danzig kid. He has dynamite for his hands! A big overhand right sinks to Hawk's jaw in the second round and lights out baby!

This matchup moved the rankings as undefeated (4 – 0) Virgil Danizg now moves to the #6 spot in the lightheavyweight division while Doyle Hawk slides from #4 to #5 with the current record of (7 – 5).

CO – MAIN EVENT

Marco Ferreira def. Michael “Pitbull” Langhi via TKO (Strikes)

Superheavyweight Division

We expected this fight to be a striking matchup and we got what we wanted! Ferreira TKOs Langhi in just 31 seconds into the first round! The two fighters were exchanging real nicely in the ring. It was thought to be a feeling out process between the two. But Ferreira locks in a solid right that starts the pounding on Langhi. Marco Ferreira never looked back and he wins with a scintillating finish and makes short work of “Pitbull” Langhi. There's just no words to add an already epic TKO. If you've watched it you know that this fight is just hard to describe more than what it already was. Ferreira is a beast.

Marco Ferreira's win here takes him to (6 – 1) while Langhi is now handed his 3rd loss in his career (7 – 3).

MAIN – EVENT

The Real King” Mamad Mouba def. Dominic “DEMON” Domain via Decision (Unanimous)

Featherweight Division

This was a one-side battle all around as Mamad Mouba bettered Dominic Domain. Mouba was just in a different level in this fight as he just dominated Domain in every angle. The most amazing part about Mamad's game was landing a perfect 66 out of 66 body kicks in the span of 5 rounds! Did I say most amazing? Guess what, it doesn't just end there. I guess the word for Mouba's fight was perfect. That's right folks, Mamad Mouba, statistically, hit all of his strikes! All 141 of them! If this doesn't show contender potential, then I don't know what is.

Dominic Domain's embarassing loss hands him his 3rd loss in his career and 2nd in a row, all in World Combat. A (10 – 3) record is what he has after this. “The Real King” Mamad Mouba is the #1 contender for the featherweight belt and improves to (13 – 4).

Amazing fights! Upsets, shocking victories and a perfect match! This is what you missed on saturday! If this recap gets you excited what more if you were there live?! Keep supporting World Combat and until next time! Stay fresh!

I'm looking forward the write up to my fight, how many different words for amazing can this writer use for me? How many different words for destruction can he use for when I destroy Derrick and he writes it in his review.

WC: Dirty Boxing 2

Preview

World Combat Championship and Big Bear Nutrition present WC: Dirty Boxing 2! This event will take place on Hard Knocks – New York and will feature young prospects and possible title contenders! Let's take a look at these fighters and get a quick analysis in the matchups ahead!

Timmy "T Bomb 2" Te O (1 – 1) vs. William “Excalibur” Figueiredo (5 – 0)

Welterweight Division

Our first fight comes in the welterweight division. These two fighters want to make a splash at their debut here at World Combat and make a name in the division.

Timmy Te O is only a 2 fight veteran with a split record. We don't have much of him yet but scouts have seen that he has respectable wrestling and holds a brown belt in jiu jitsu. His trainers have also released a statement saying that Te O is a determined individual and he'll show that mental aspect in the game in this fight.

“Excalibur” Figueiredo is a highly rated welterweight prospect that just signed in WC. He has a perfect record of 5 wins in his career. He's has a Muai Thai base but has shown some great submission skills as 2 of his wins come by tapping out his enemies. “Excalibur” is also known to be a brawler and some say that he can get cut easily.

William Figueiredo is a better trained fighter than Te O and I think that will make the difference. Te O does have a better ground game skill wise but I think “Excalibur” can fend off the takedown and can scare Te O with submission attempts. Stand up game belongs to William Figueiredo and that's where the damage will come from. Figueiredo wins via decision for me.

Shino Ohio (5 – 3) vs. "Morceguinho" Julio Cesar Neves Jr. (2 – 2)

Featherweight Division

Shino Ohio has been sporting an inconsistent record in his last 4 fights. He won 2 and lost 2. He looks to create a spark here by beating Neves Jr. Ohio is a strong boxer with KO power but surprisingly has not finished a fight via (T)KO. All of his wins came from decision wins. It can be said that he's more of a boxer in a cage than a true mixed martial artist.

Neves Jr. is in a 2 fight losing steak and hopes to end it in this fight. Neves' base is wrestling and then moved on to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu before becoming a full mma fighter. His camp released some reports that he's been consistently training his boxing too to improve his standup game and make him more versatile. Neves' determination is also a factor to consider as he might be mentally stronger than his opponent.

This fight is tough to call. But I'd have to say Ohio gets the win here. Why? Neves' morale is so low right now. Is it because of the training or lack of sponsors? Whatever it is, this will greatly affect his game once the fight starts.

Conor “King” Brazier (1 – 1) vs. Pound House (2 – 1)

Featherweight Division

The third fight in this event features two young featherweights battling it out. Conor “King” Brazier certainly looks like a king in the cage. At the young age of 20 he already has a refined set of skills for mma. He is described as a wonderful boxer with a big heart by the people around him and this might be the case. You can't discount his ground game since his blue belt in jiu jitsu makes him credible there too. He only has 2 fights in his belt but we can see that this youngster has the potential to go on top of the featherweight class.

Pound House looks to open up his World Combat career with a win here. He's a respectable wrestler with a brown belt in jiu jitsu while only being 26 years old. He is a fighter who looks for the submission in his fights as evidenced by his two wins via tapping out. Scouts have reported as seeing him with powerful takedowns and natural strength.

I predict Brazier wins this fight. From the information that I have, he looks to have better overall skills and his wonderful boxing will be tough to face. I doubt House, can take him down if Conor Brazier keeps the distance while standing up.

Mizzieko “The Ninja” Bestro (1 – 0) vs. Sum Ting Wong (5 – 1)

Bantamweight Division

We go now to the stacked bantamweight division as we see Bestro against Wong. Mizzieko Bestro just has 1 fight in his mma career but its clear to see he has potential. He was an amateur Muai Thai fighter and with only 25 years of age is already experience in combat arts. His Muai Thai base is highlighted by the fact that he has dangerous knees. He is honing his craft as a mixed martial artist by earning a purple belt in jiu jitsu. We hope to see a glimpse of versatility in his fight.

Wong is only 20 years old but amassed a sizable (5 – 1) record. He is also a strong Muai Thai fighter with deadly knees and honed his wrestling to neutralize opponents' ground game. Like, Bestro, Wong is a developing fighter and adding a win here can boost his confidence that could lead to more improvement.

Sum Ting Wong gets this win for me. Wong is just a slightly better Muai Thai fighter but his ground game is efficient enough to defend and counterattack his opponents. And I am not confident enough with the jiu jitsu skills of Bestro. I see this win for Wong standing up or in the ground.

OZ Icon (2 – 1) vs. #7 Vincent Obi (6 – 1)

Superheavyweight Division

OZ Icon will look to make an upset here as he faces the #7 superheavyweight in World Combat. He definitely has the skills to make the victory. He is a remarkable puncher with respectable wrestling to hold off the ground game. His reported granite chin is also a huge confidence booster as it can allow him to be more aggressive inside the cage. His style is simple, strike standing up and defend the takedown. And simplicity might be the key to victory.

Vincent Obi is pretty much a better OZ Icon. Same style of fighting, strike hard and defend against wrestlers. He is also scouted as having a granite chin! One thing Obi has the edge is the experience factor. Obi's been in more fights albeit only 7 overall but that can mean that his gameplan will be better and with his opponents fighting style almost the same as him, they could definitely counter with a better strategy.

The two fighters are almost equal. It's a toss up if you exclude the records of the two. But in this case, Obi takes this one. Obi should be able to dish out a better tactic to use against Icon and if not, well I just don't know what they're doing in the gym.

Jet Hemi (7 – 9) vs. “The Cowboy” Conway Jennings (2 – 2)

Bantamweight Division

This is definitely a gatekeeper match as Hemi faces off Jennigs. Jet Hemi has suprisingly lost 9 of his 10 fights. He has lost 4 in a row currently and before his last win, 5 in a row. However, if you look at his skills he's actually a decent fighter. He has an all around set of skills but he hasn't really been at his best now. He's physically strong and an excellent boxer. Hopefully we can see some sparks of brilliance from him in this fight.

Conway Jennings looks to get the better out of this matchup by using his exceptional wrestling background. “The Cowboy” is also known for having iron lungs, keeping the pace of his wrestling for the full three rounds. A blue belt in jiu jitsu is also a plus for Jennings' ground game as he can also dish out submissions as well as effective ground and pound.

I have no bet in this one. I'm not sure about Hemi's ability to give a good fight and Jennings' is still to one sided at the moment. If he gets neutralized in the ground game, what else can he hang on? Hemi could finds some spark but if you question a warrior's ability to fight, doesn't it look like he's lost already?

#4 Jackson Ramos (7 – 3) vs. #6 Yoshi “Twister” Twister (3 – 1)

Featherweight Division

This fight is a ranked battle between the #4 and #6 featherweights in World Combat. Jackson Ramos hopes to enter the top 3 with a win over twister. Ramos is a great wrestler and jiu jitsu artist. His really likes to go to the ground and his specialty there is the submission. His wrestling is the key to his ground game really. He has good takedowns and those initiate the jiu jitsu game for him. Jackson Ramos' brawler attitude can also be a factor if wants to fight standing up too.

Yoshi Twister is also a ground specialist and submission expert. He has almost the same skillset as Ramos but his opponent is a bit better on the ground. Twister balances that with better boxing than Ramos. Overall, Twister is a less experienced fighter. His big heart can change the game though because you'll never know what'll happen inside the cage sometimes.

I take Ramos to win. He's more experienced and for me, Twister is just Ramos version 1. In a battle of same styles the one with the more honed skillsets would win. Unless, a change of plans for either of them.

Cocky” Conor Brazier (3 – 0) vs. #3 Derrick Jon (9 – 4)

Bantamweight Division

Conor Brazier might be new to the world of mixed martial arts but he's definitely not a pushover. At age 20, he's already a very refined fighter. His main arsenal is his kickboxing game. His Muai Thai is exceptional and his boxing superb. He has wrestling decent enough for him to stuff takedown attempts. And those dangerous knees. We can't forget about those knees. Conor Brazier is so talented he even fought and won against a superheavyweight fighter via KO. That's right, I did not make a typographical error there!

Derrick Jon is unlucky right now in World Combat. Having lost two in a row with one of those a title shot, Jon wants to bounce back to his winning ways. Jon has a solid wrestling base which is his primary weapon inside the cage. He also has a blue belt in jiu jitsu diversifying him on the ground. Derrick Jon's respectable Muai Thai makes him good on the standup too. The main factor that Jon has is his good gas tank. Keeping the pace for a full 3 rounds is no easy task but Jon can surely be aggressive and impose his will with no signs of stopping.

To tell you the truth Derrick Jon is the underdog here for me. I fancy Brazier to win, seriously. Brazier just looks too talented for Jon to handle! With the exception of Brazier's jiu jitsu which is a big question, almost all is in favor of him. Derrick Jon needs to be perfect on the ground if he wants to win this one.

CO – MAIN EVENT

#1 Jimmie Craig (13 – 5) vs. #3 Hughtavious Mingo (10 – 3)

Lightheavyweight Division

Our co-main event is big! These are two guys battling it out for a potential title shot! The significance of this fight is mind-blowing! Number one contender Jimmie Craig is close to seeing gold and if he wins this one it might just be the case. Craig has one thing on his mind when facing his opponents. Knocking them out! Jimmie Craig is a wonderful boxer and with KO power too. 9 of his 13 wins coming from (T)KOs so no question there. His proficient boxing and jiu jitsu blue belts wards off his rivals into taking the fight to the ground. And the fact that he is a cardio machine means he can stuff those takedowns tirelessly.

Hughtavious Mingo just came off a pivotal win against Doyle Hawk. His climb is steady and it has come to this. Its going to be his hardest fight yet. Not just because Craig is an a great fighter but also because the stakes are high. This is a mirror match. Mingo likes to stand up too, he can evade the takedowns and he has iron lungs! I can go even far to say that Mingo has better wrestling than Craig.

This looks like a gathering storm. Both of these men are looking to slug it out standing and I'm not surprised if one of them gets knocked out. My pick? Mingo wins here because of a slight advantage in wrestling.

MAIN EVENT

#1 Angel “The Real Deal” Face (6 – 0) vs. #4 Saladin “Quick Sand” Hussain

Middleweight Division

Angel Face looks to stop Hussain's title run here and take a win in his debut fight in World Combat. Face is a highly touted middleweight fighter. He is currently unbeaten with all of his wins coming by way of (T)KO. He has a wonderful wrestling base that he uses for his ground and pound. But the thing is, he is naturally heavy handed that by just being a good boxer he can already knock people out and intimidate them standing up. Angel Face is scary. Having natural talent with your hands and if he improves his movements in the standup game, its almost lights out for everybody.

Following a huge come from behind victory, Saladin Hussain looks to make another upset win here! You don't want this guy to put you on the grounds because from there, its all over for you. He has superb wrestling and that brown belt in jiu jitsu just proves his expertise in the submission game. But it doesn't describe all of Hussain. His determination leads to unexpected wins like his last fight with Terror. You cannot be lax with Hussain as he can swallow you up like quick sand.

On face value, “The Real Deal” Face wins. But, having only a white belt in jiu jitsu makes him vulnerable to Hussain if they ever go to the ground. Hussain has no other arsenal besides his submission and grappling. It is a big question mark as to what he'll do if the takedowns aren't there. This fight is a toss up in my book.

And that's all for now fight fans! Be sure to watch this event on the 20th of May! Support World Combat Championship! WAR!

CONTENDER SPOTLIGHT #1

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/3/3b3.jpg

CLINTON OFFLEY

Welcome to the first edition of Contender Spotlight! I'm M. Maestro doing a one on one interview with #2 ranked heavyweight, Clinton “Baked Fish” Offley. He's pretty much one of the best fighters in World Combat and he's here to answer some of our questions!

Maestro: To start off, what is a normal day for Clinton Offley?

Offley: To start off I get a good breakfast with lots of proteins and shit, like coffee and brownies, or brownies and coffee. To follow that up I hit the gym and train hard and then I relax listening to Marley and smoking wee... not doing anything illegal in the state of New York for sure.

Maestro: You're now being managed by Max Bennet and so far so good. Did anything change in the management style/training/etc.? Or business as usual?

Offley: Yes! My previous manager was really good but he was very strict. Mister Bennet's letting me ralax a little bit more. And my training's changed drastically. I've spent lots of time and effort to improve my standup game and it shows results, even though I'm not giving it my 100% yet, you know? Lots of new tricks he taught me, lots of shit to surprise my opponents with.

Maestro: Your next fight would be the third time fighting Magnus Cross, what do you think of him?

Offley: Magnus Cross is a chill dude, he never really *crossed* me... get it? He's a good fighter and I thought he's a fan of mine... like a stalker fan. I've heard he's not only watching me fight and train, he's also watching me eat and sleep. To think of it I did felt watched a lot recently... or maybe it's just paranoia from this new pot *cough* training schedule!

Maestro: He's beaten you on the Island before but you've beaten him in QFC, do you feel you know Cross' every move by now and vice versa?

Offley: Well, both fights ended up really soon, so we didn't learn that much about each other but for sure both me and him will try a different tactic for upcomming fight than we did for the last two.

Maestro: If you win this match, you'll get a titile shot. Does this add more pressure? Or adds more incentive?

Offley: Yes, and both. Definitely. I've never held a belt even though my career was always a very succesfull one. I'll do everything in my power to get my hands on that belt. It's a great incentive and a great pressure - if I lose, there isn't enough wee... consolation to ease the pain

Maestro: Before we go, we end this interview with Maestro's 10! Ten questions, ten weird answers everytime! Here's what Clinton Offley answered:

1. What is your favorite word?
Offley: Buffalo

2. What is your least favorite word?
Offley: Soldier

3. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?
Offley: Bob Marley.

4. What turns you off?
Offley: Violence I guess... I know, it's weird.
5 What is your favorite curse word?
Offley: Shiiit.
6. What sound or noise do you love?
Offley: Jimmy Hendrix.
7. What sound or noise do you hate?
Offley: Knife on a porcelain.
8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?
Offley: Musician.
9. What profession would you not like to do?
Offley: Soldier.
10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?

Offley: Shiiit, Clinton.

After the interview, Offley gave me some tips on how to stay healthy. He was talking about the herb and when I asked what herb it is he just told me,”The herb.”

See you again on the next edition of Contender Spotlight!

"Cocky" Conor Brazier

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14223621867986.jpg

While I am gutted I did not get the finish, I am very happy with my strategic and effective performance against the very tough Derrick Jon. I put on a technical striking masterclass landing frequently and accurately sticking to the gameplan. Good job Jon for hanging in there. Much respect.

Next island bum to become my punching bag?
