"Ice Cube" O Shea Jackson

7-3-0

*With the short notice fight pitting O Shea Jackson against Omar Little on the upcoming Legacy! 54. O Shea made his thoughts known earlier on today from his personal Buzz account*

347b5c568db16a09c743a762a480144a.png

*The media caught up with O Shea leaving his gym session from Magis in London*

R: Great to catch up with you O Shea, it's just been announced that you will be competing for the first time in nearly 2 months against Omar Little, who is managed by Michael Wolf who your manager Grant Brophy is very familiar with, having been in the same alliance for a long time. How do you feel about the fight?

OSJ: I'm feeling great about it. Training since my last fight has been going great, and I feel I am nearly at my peak. I'm gonna be competing at ITFL Season 5, and I felt I needed a fight to see how I was progressing anyway, so I figured I may as well help out someone while I do it. Omar is good, his old manager was James Listerman who was very good, and his new manager is just as good, if not better. But come fight night, I am gonna do my best to knock the shit out of him.

R: This is perhaps surprising considering you have spoken respectfully of Omar Little just today, is there perhaps a change in attitude towards him?

OSJ: No change at all. Omar is a top guy, and he is willing to step up on short notice. But playing nice don't get you nowhere in life, and he is gonna be looking to knock me out on Saturday, so I am gonna look to do the same.

R: Is that a suggestion that perhaps you being too nice is why you have suffered 3 losses in your career so far?

OSJ: Fuck you, last question.

R: Favourite method of transportation?

OSJ: Ho Train motherfucker

*O Shea leaves the reporter, who has more questions than answers following that brief interview. Catch O Shea Jackson vs Omar Little on the undercard of this weekend's Legacy! 54 event in Montreal!*

Just received a call from Steel - Penn Icon Hall of Famer Darren Lockyer and let me tell you that he is enraged at learning he is consider the underdog in this evenings fight vs upstart Rocco LeBron. Frenchy LeBron has no big-time fight experience with his sole win of note being against the moderately successful Joey Kocur. On the other-hand, how quickly the world has forgotten Mr. Lockyer's, note the correct spelling for your apology Mr. Event Preview writer, stunning first round KO's of Evil Kullervo and Thomas Raven.

I have calmed Mr. Lockyer down for the moment but I foresee his rage propelling him to another one of his routine first round KO's of another inferior opponent. Buckle up for this one fight fans.

LEGACY! 54 - Available on PPV!

03.05.16

Belle Centre - Montreal

Event preview prepared by: Taylor Powell (107803)

PRELIMS

HEAVYWEIGHT: Master Wong (8-6) vs Oleksandr Usyk (9-3)
HEAVYWEIGHT: Terrell Grant (17-8-1) vs Adam Morley (13-6)

MIDDLEWEIGHT: O Shea Jackson (7-3) vs Omar Little (10-5-1)
WELTERWEIGHT: Kevin Anderson (9-5) vs Better Dead (17-14)
HEAVYWEIGHT: Bull Hurley (11-4) vs Robbie Luatua (11-8)

MAIN CARD

SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Daniel Campos (24-11-1) vs Ernesto Oliveira (49-18)

At 42 years old, Ernesto Oliveira is no longer the dominant champion like he was earlier in his career, but he still fights with the same mantra and that is what makes him a huge draw. No matter how old you are, amassing 44 wins by knockout is an incredible feat. He’s finished two of his three fights in Legacy by knockout in the very first round. Daniel Campos started in Legacy with a couple impressive wins, but dropped fights to former champion like Mookie Blaylock and Phillip Dyson in his next two fights. Campos hasn’t been able to finish anybody yet in Legacy, but he’s looked the part against guys that didn’t overwhelm him skill wise. This fight with Oliveira is an interesting one because if he can survive early on, he can probably outpoint him on his way to a decision win. Both guys could use a win, but this fight is probably much more important for Oliveira. Campos had his shot against the elite in Legacy and struggled, but Oliveira could get his shot at the upper tier fighters with a win over Campos.

LEGACY PREDICTION: OLIVEIRA BY TKO

SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Rex Tyrannosaurus (24-10) vs Niko Alazate (18-11)

In a very interesting battle of big men, striker Rex Tyrannosaurus faces off against jiu-jitsu brown belt Niko Alazate. Alazate has 5 wins by submission and is one of the rare big guys that doesn’t mind working submissions. Alazate isn’t just a grappler, but he’ll be hard pressed to stand and bang with a great striker like Rex. Rex has been submitted once in his career and doesn’t particularly train his jiu-jitsu. With an eye popping 22 wins by knockout, Rex rarely has to worry about fights going long enough to hit the mat. If this one lasts, Alazate could get his wish and get the dynamic striker to the ground. Both men are coming off losses and have never won inside Legacy, so this fight is certainly a crucial one. Rex has lost his first 2 fights inside the promotion against top notch competition and gets somewhat of a step down the ladder in this fight. The key to this fight is who can dictate where the fight takes place

LEGACY PREDICTION: TYRANNOSAURUS BY TKO

SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Mookie Blaylock (30-12) vs Charlie Sheen (38-21-2)

We have another battle of enormous men in this one. Charlie Sheen makes his debut in Legacy after being a champion in the CCF promotion and a consummate contender. He’ll fight former Legacy title contender Mookie Blaylock in his debut. Blaylock is an incredibly gifted fighter who is blessed with a ton of power in just about everything he throws. That skill has led him to finish 25 of his 30 career wins by knockout. He isn’t the only man in this fight who throws with bad intent though. Charlie Sheen has finished 29 of his 38 wins by knockout. At age 37, Sheen is making his debut at a weird time and he’ll be 5 years the elder of Blaylock, but age certainly hasn’t zapped his power yet. The one thing to watch is how the chin of Sheen holds up at age 37, but he is riding a 2 fight winning streak from the Synchronicity promotion. Blaylock recently had his 2 fight winning streak snapped by Declan Sweeney, so he’ll certainly be out for blood in this one.

LEGACY PREDICTION: BLAYLOCK BY TKO

BANTAMWEIGHT: William Blake (15-5-1) vs Da Skrumbo (21-6)

At 135 pounds, both William Blake and Da Skrumbo have reigned as champion in Legacy. The latter was champion up until his late fight, a 3rd round TKO loss to Jong Un Kim. Da Skrumbo is looking to earn himself another crack at the new champion and a win over a fighter like Blake, who has been a champion and contender for his entire 10 fight career. Blake has a couple of wins sandwiched around a draw and a submission loss to Jong Un Kim in his last four fights. Both guys struggled with Kim recently, but that is where the similarities end. Blake is a grappler by trade who has over half of his wins by submission. Skrumbo never shies away from a firefight and has all but two of his wins by knockout. This fight fits the grappler vs striker mantra to a “t” and Blake hasn’t been finished by strikes in his 21 fight career. This fight should be destined for the scorecards, given the durability of both fighters and tendency to stay alive in fights.

LEGACY PREDICTION: BLAKE BY DECISION

SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Declan Sweeney (39-17) vs Floyd Patterson (14-1)

In yet another matchup of 265 plus pounders, new Legacy Super Heavyweight champion Declan Sweeney is fighting Floyd Patterson. Sweeney recently won the title have pulverizing Phillip Dyson for four plus rounds until the fight was called due to all the bleeding comes from the face of Dyson. That made Sweeney a two time champion in Legacy and avenged his only loss in Legacy in 7 career fights. Floyd Patterson is the reigning Death Squad champion at both Heavyweight and Super Heavyweight. This is a dream matchup for a lot of people who consider these 2 men to be the best of their prospective companies, which are certainly top 10 in the world. Patterson is considered to be one of the top 20 fighters in the world and probably the best 265+ pounder in the world. Declan Sweeney certainly falls in that top 5 though, which makes this fight even more special. Very rarely do you see such highly regarded fighters at the top of their division in the world, slugging it out against each other.

"Fucking people always counting me out and that's when I shine the brightest. Questions about my chin are getting almost as old as me, I've never been knocked out in my career it's this paper skin of mine that lets me down. I cut and bleed like a stuck pig and the refs always get grossed out. I'm gonna be the next Legacy SHW Champion, mark my words you cbombs."

LEGACY! 55 - Available on PPV!

03.11.16

Belle Centre - Montreal

Event preview prepared by: Taylor Powell (107803)

PRELIMS

LIGHTWEIGHT: Blind Shaman (10-4-1) vs Justin Cider (11-4-1)
MIDDLEWEIGHT: Kabal Labak (12-7-1) vs Obi Canuel (6-2)
MIDDLEWEIGHT: Friedrich Von Kuschelbar (13-6) vs Noah MacManus (4-3)
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Edinger Nucleus (15-5-1) vs Ivan Kuznetsov (13-7)
HEAVYWEIGHT: Culver Crimson (11-3) vs Rodney Garcia (14-4)

MAIN CARD

HEAVYWEIGHT: Dante Boudain (11-3-1) vs Ken Halo (16-6)

Kicking off the main card, we have a couple of heavyweights itching to get into title contention. Dante Boudain is the former 265 pound champion in the CTS promotion and left the title when he decided to join Legacy a few fights ago. After an impressive finish of Hennan Hoyce, Boudain fought Terrell Grant. Their first fight ended in a draw, but Boudain would win the rematch by unanimous decision. With a win over a former Legacy champion in Grant, Boudain is very much on the way up in this division. Ken Halo was thrown into the fire quick in Legacy by facing Nick Fjera for the title, a fight he would go on to lose by knockout in the 3rd round. After another tough loss to Constantine Kermit, Halo bounced back with a solid finish of Robbie Luatua. Both guys are primarily striker, but Boudain is much more unique. He prefers to throw kicks and mix things up in the clinch. Halo is more of your tradition boxing heavyweight, but is truly an all-around skilled fighter.

LEGACY PREDICTION: BOUDAIN BY DECISION

BANTAMWEIGHT: Ruud Gullit (28-10) vs Vincent Oketch (17-9)

Ruud Gullit entered Legacy on a 5 fight winning streak and was a very dominant champion in LFC, a place that has produced many great Legacy fighters like Da Skrumbo. Gullit has struggled mightily since arriving though. He’s 0-3 in 3 Legacy fights and has to be desperate to pick up his first win and get the monkey off his back. Vincent Oketch is a former champion in Legacy that is only a couple fights removed from winning that title. Oketch lost a very tight split decision to Da Skrumbo and lost his last fight to William Blake, also by decision. Both guys are seemingly losing traction, but Oketch has already proven himself as a legitimate contender. Gullit could go a long way towards proving he is with a victory in this fight. For a black belt in jiu jitsu, Gullit has been submitted a staggering 6 times in his career and Vincent Oketch is a very good ground fighter who has racked up half a dozen submission wins so far in his career. Oketch will be 8 years the junior of Gullit and have a few inches of reach in a make-or-break fight for Ruud Gullit.

LEGACY PREDICTION: OKETCH BY SUBMISSION

MIDDLEWEIGHT: Rupert Blasts (9-1) vs Ed Gennero (19-9)

Coming off the first loss in his pro career, Rupert Blasts is looking to rebound with a win over Ed Gennero. Blasts was defeated in his last fight by Malik Al-Khaldi in his first Legacy title defense. Blasts was knocked out cold by a devastating punch in the second round. Ed Gennero is riding a 2 fight winning streak currently and would love nothing more to get a second shot at the 185 pound title in Legacy. Gennero is a devastating striker who rarely leaves fights in the judge’s hands. He’ll be dealing with a guy in Blasts, who is very skilled everywhere in the sport and is one of the more promising fighters anywhere in the world. The one negative spot for Gennero is his strike defense and chin that has cost him 8 losses by knockout. As technical as Rupert Blasts can be, he’ll have to be very wary of head and hand position in this fight. I expect to see Gennero trying to force Blasts into a firefight, but he probably won’t be able to make it happen.

LEGACY PREDICTION: BLASTS BY TKO

SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Giacomo Benvenuti (27-3) vs Wei Pei (32-17-1)

Very rarely do two guys making their debut in the promotion earn the co-main event slot, but both of these fighters are coming off title fights in their respective promotions in their last fight. Giacomo Benvenuti carries around a staggering 27-3 record and was the Steel Penn ICON champion at 265 pounds before losing in his last fight and deciding to join up with Legacy to fight in the 265 plus pound division. Wei Pei is also coming off a loss in a title fight. Pei has spent a lot of time in the legendary Evolution promotion as well. Between the two of these guys, 8 of their 80 fights have went to a decision and all were losses of Wei Pei. At 36 years of age, Pei will be the older fighter in this one by 7 years and there is cause for concern about how well his chin will continue to hold up in such a brutal division of power strikers. This debut fight is huge for Legacy and could shove either one of these fighters into a title fight in the near future.

LEGACY PREDICTION: BENVENUTI BY TKO

WELTERWEIGHT: Arlington Beech (20-3-1) vs Pernell Whitaker Jr. (24-8)

In our main event, we have a matchup of top 10 welterweights in the world. Arlington Beech is the reigning Legacy champion and carries a five fight winning streak into this fight, while his opponent Pernell Whitaker Jr. has won his last nine fights. The two fighters are almost mirror images of each other physically and in fight style. Both guys are very well balanced and don’t try to force the issue ending fights. Saying that, both guys also have their fair share of finishes. Arlington Beech is closing in on breaking into the top half of the top 10 welterweight list, while Whitaker just arrived in the top 10 a fight ago. Both of these fighters have to feel like the best welterweight in the world going into this fight, but after this fight, one will undoubtedly be questioning that. My gut feeling is this fight will be an instant classic and could very well go the distance because both fighters are very tough to finish.

LEGACY! 56 - Available on PPV!

03.12.16

Belle Centre - Montreal

Event preview prepared by: Taylor Powell (107803)

PRELIMS

SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Daniel Campos (24-12-1) vs Vince Dixon (40-34)

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Daniel Williams (8-1) vs Wayne Conner (9-6)
SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Shane Luger (27-12) vs Evan Horizon (19-12)
WELTERWEIGHT: Jericho Hill (9-4-1) vs Erik Kramer (11-5)
BANTAMWEIGHT: Barack Obama (9-5) vs Arthas Menethil (13-4)

MAIN CARD

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Johan Attila (13-5) vs Liam McGuiness (21-12-1)

In our opening fight on the main card, former champion at 205 pounds Liam McGuiness is looking to rebound from his two straight losses. He faces a very stiff challenge in Johan Attila. Attila is coming off his own title loss in his last fight against Ravi Shankoli and has lost both fights against McGuiness in the past. It’s been a few years but McGuiness finished Attila by strikes in the 1st round in both fights. Attila is certainly hoping for a different result in this fight and it could very well happen. Johan Attila has an excellent ground game to go with overall solid striking and the ground game could be his secret weapon in this one. McGuiness was able to batter him on the feet in their last two fights. It’ll be interesting to see if Attila decides to try and strike with McGuiness and how much success he has, but it’ll be more important for him to secure some takedowns and establish the pace of the fight early on.

LEGACY PREDICTION: McGUINESS BY TKO

BANTAMWEIGHT: Matt Smith (13-5) vs Geralt of Rivia (14-5)

Matt Smith has picked up a couple of impressive decision wins in his short time in Legacy, but the last time he faced Geralt of Rivia, he came out on the short end of the stick. Rivia won their matchup a few years ago at the end of the first round by knockout. The first two fights in Legacy for these two fighters couldn’t have been more different. Rivia lost his first two fights but has rebounded with two quality wins, including a win over Barack Obama in his last fight. As in the first fight, Rivia holds him big advantages in the boxing over Smith, but Matt Smith is a very talented striker in his own right. This will be Rivia’s 20th career fight and he has yet to be finished by strikes. The two fighters are so similar in terms of age and where they are career wise, which makes this fight all the more important. I think Smith will once again be frustrated by the boxing of Rivia and I don’t think he’ll make it 3 rounds.

LEGACY PREDICTION: RIVIA BY TKO

MIDDLEWEIGHT: Antonio Lobo (19-3) vs Steven Rutherford (15-0-1)

In his 16 career fights, Steven Rutherford has yet to taste defeat. Rutherford ran through the NACF organization winning and defending titles without much issue. That prompted his move to Legacy where he has started out 4-0, with 3 of the wins coming by finish. He gets a guy in this fight who was very similar to himself when he arrived in the promotion. Antonio Lobo was very dominant in Coyotile sandwiching 16 wins between a lone defeat. Lobo is just 1-2 in his last 3 fights though after beginning his Legacy run on a 2 fight winning streak. Lobo is a submission specialist who has all but 3 of his 19 wins by submission. He will certainly need to take Rutherford down to have a shot in this fight. At 185 pounds, Rutherford is probably one of the more elite strikers in the world and his ground game has always been up for the challenge as well. This will probably be the biggest fight in Rutherford’s career, so we’ll have to see how he holds up under the bright lights.

LEGACY PREDICTION: RUTHERFORD BY TKO

WELTERWEIGHT: Kelvin Parker (15-5) vs George Pedro (15-6-2)

In our co-main event, former champion Kelvin Parker will begin his quest back to the 170 pound title with a fight against George Pedro. Parker was riding a 5 fight winning streak before being stopped by Arlington Beech for the title in his last fight. This marks the second time in his career that Beech has defeated him for the title. Pedro is coming off an epic two fights against Jericho Hill that resulted in a draw and a subsequent tight unanimous decision battle. George Pedro is a very durable fighter who has yet to be finished by strikes in his 23 career fights. With the experience Parker has under his belt, he should be able to find a way to win this fight, but Pedro has looked solid so far in the promotion going 3-1-1. Parker could choose to use jiu jitsu black belt on the mat to secure a submission and he could also decide to stand and trade to showcase his improving striking game.

LEGACY PREDICTION: PARKER BY DECISION

SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Ethelbart Takahashi (45-19) vs Tevin Mangrove Jr. (19-4)

Multiple time Steel Penn Icon champion Ethelbart Takahaski is making his Legacy debut in the main event against another debutante. Tevin Mangrove Jr. last fought in the Evolution promotion, so he’s certainly no stranger to tough fights. Takahashi will be 8 years the elder of Mangrove and will also have a few inches of reach working against him, but words don’t describe the striking of Takahashi. He’s currently ranked as the 4th best super heavyweight in the world and he very easily could be the best striker in the division. He throws with a ton of power in his hands and has devastating kicks, including fight ending head kicks. Mangrove typically likes to get fights to the clinch, so I’m sure he’ll be dying to get Takahashi there to neutralize those lethal kicks. Once there, Mangrove utilizes some very good dirty boxing, but could meet his match in this fight. This fight shouldn’t disappoint because we should get a highlight reel ending.

LEGACY PREDICTION: TAKAHASHI BY TKO

LEGACY! 57 - Available on PPV!

03.18.16

Belle Centre - Montreal

Event preview prepared by: Taylor Powell (107803)

PRELIMS

SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Jucal Jabneel (5-1) vs Eamonn McGuigan (12-8)
BANTAMWEIGHT: Balfour Darrow (4-3) vs Diagoro Yabaisama (8-2)

MIDDLEWEIGHT: Omar Little (11-5-1) vs Cole Orion (6-2)
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Agustin Trujillo (9-7-1) vs Stan Judea (5-2)
LIGHTWEIGHT: Espo Jaksinen (9-4) vs Azar Qasi (12-6)

MAINCARD

HEAVYWEIGHT FIGHT: Farrokh Bulsara (10-3) vs Eeazy Ee (25-8)

Eeazy Ee was riding a 10 fight winning streak when he made his Legacy debut, but things have went downhill quickly. Ee has been stopped twice in as many fights, but his competition level has been amazing. He’ll get another talented fighter in Farrokh Bulsara who’s a very talented striker, but he isn’t quite at the level of Thomas Bannon or Culver Crimson, Ee’s previous two opponents. Bulsara will be the much younger fighter in this one, but he also doesn’t have quite the experience that Ee has. This fight will almost assuredly end in a hurry, as both fighters love to throw with no regard. Bulsara has been in the promotion a while and has a solid 4-2 record, but this would more than likely be the biggest win of his career. Eeazy E certainly needs this win after being finished twice to start his time in Legacy, so both guys have a ton on the line in this fight.

LEGACY PREDICTION: Ee BY TKO

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Guido Gloom (15-5) vs Brian Pereira (11-8-1)

After starting out in Legacy with a loss, Guido Gloom has reeled off three straight wins, including his last two by submission. Make no mistake about it, Guido Gloom is a submission fighter. Gloom has 12 of his 15 wins by submission and is extremely slick on the ground. Gloom does have somewhat of a questionable chin though with all five of his losses coming by knockout. He faces a very talented finisher in Brian Pereira. Pereira has finished all but one of his opponents in his victories and is an equal opportunity finisher, but he’ll certainly want to keep this fight standing against the jiu-jitsu black belt Gloom. Pereira has won two out of his first three fights in the promotion, so both fighters are bringing solid momentum into this fight and the winner will certainly shoot up in the rankings. Pereira has showcased the better chin between these two, but Gloom isn’t really a KO threat at this level.

LEGACY PREDICTION: PEREIRA BY TKO

BANTAMWEIGHT: Vincent Oketch (18-9) vs Charles Bronson (12-3-1)

Former champion Vincent Oketch will do battle with perennial title challenger, Charles Bronson. Bronson has come up short in all 3 title tries in Legacy, but he’s still been very impressive when the title isn’t on the line. Oketch definitely knows this after experiencing the wrath of Bronson a couple years ago. Bronson finished Oketch in the third round with a flurry of strikes to set up the infamous title fight against De Bruyne that ended in a majority draw and subsequent rematch. In the first fight, Bronson was just the more active fighter simply put. He landed more strikes than Oketch even attempted. Bronson dominated the first two rounds and was able to put Oketch away late in the third round with a flurry of strikes after a huge overhand right stunned him. The question in this fight is if Oketch can slow Bronson down or at least manage to slip some of the punches that connected easily in the first bout.

LEGACY PREDICTION: BRONSON BY TKO

WELTERWEIGHT: Manolito Damhuis (13-4) vs Chiku Maneno (17-6)

After reeling off four wins to open his stint in Legacy, Manolito Damhuis gets the call he’s been looking for. Damhuis will fight one of the top guys in the division in former title challenger Chiku Maneno. Damhuis is a very crafty fighter who’s only been finished once in his 17 fight career. Damhuis is a solid all-around fighter who does have 5 wins by knockout, but is generally a grinder. Chiku Maneno is a slugger who makes no bones about it. He wants to hit you hard and often with his hands. Maneno owns all but 2 of his 17 wins by knockout and has only been finished a few times with his reckless style. Damhuis certainly hasn’t fought nobodies so far in his career, but he’ll get a big step up in competition against Maneno and he’ll have to fight smart and on his toes to avoid being added to the long KO list that Chiku Maneno has going. A win in this fight for Manolito Damhuis would mean the world and could vault him into a title eliminator fight.

LEGACY PREDICTION: MANENO BY TKO

MIDDLEWEIGHT: Malik Al-Khaldi (14-1) vs Karim Bashorov (15-4)

Newly crowned MFN champion Karim Bashorov won’t be defending his title in this fight, but he’ll certainly be tested. He’ll be facing the dominant Malik Al-Khaldi. Al-Khaldi brings a staggering 14-1 record to this fight, but he could still be considered the underdog. Bashorov is the older, more experienced fighter who has proven he can win the tough decision fights. He’s probably has the best ground game of anyone at 185 pounds and he pairs it with terrific technical striking. Bashorov has never been knocked out in his 19 fight career and has just 1 submission loss on his record. This should be a grind it out affair and that would certainly have to favor Karim Bashorov, but it’s getting increasingly difficult to doubt Malik Al-Khaldi. This fight is the definition of a super fight and should be a great showcase for both the Legacy and MFN promotions. This fight isn’t about a championship, but it could be a career cementing win for either guy.

LEGACY PREDICTION: BASHOROV BY DECISION

LEGACY! 58 - Available on PPV!

03.19.16

Belle Centre - Montreal

Event preview prepared by: Taylor Powell (107803)

PRELIMS

LIGHTWEIGHT: Ryzen Dall (7-3) vs Henrique Ramos (11-10)
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Strategos Themistokles (9-0) vs Artem Irhin (7-6)
MIDDLEWEIGHT: John Altare (12-6) vs Doug Pattersson (13-9)
WELTERWEIGHT: Jack Jone (12-4) vs Kim II Sung (13-9)
HEAVYWEIGHT: Magnus Cross (25-13) vs Hennan Hoyce (7-2)

MAIN CARD

MIDDLEWEIGHT: Friedrich Von Kuschelbar (14-6) vs Robert Mazzuca (15-7)

Kicking off the main card, we have a couple of fighters who have barely had a cup of coffee in the promotion, but both could use a win after being defeated by Ed Gennero. Robert Mazzuca was finished with a barrage of strikes very early in round two, while Friedrich Von Kuschelbar made it to a decision with Gennero. It was a very easy 30-27 win for Gennero though. This is basically a striker versus striker matchup, but it’s pretty clear that Kuschelbar has the better chin and that could be the deciding factor in this matchup of power punchers. Both guys have 11+ wins by knockout, so you know they’ll be looking to tee off on each other early and often. Mazzuca is a former Troid champion who will be looking to rebound in his second Legacy fight and Kuschelbar will be looking to build off the momentum he has after finishing Noah MacManus in less than a minute in his last bout.

LEGACY PREDICTION: KUSCHELBAR BY TKO

LIGHTWEIGHT: De Bruyne (15-3-1) vs Chad Murray (10-5)

Former Legacy champion De Bruyne is looking to rebound after losing his title fight a few fights ago and dropping a decision to Lorne Malvo in his last fight. Bruyne is a very durable fighter who has fought the cream of the crop in the promotion and only been finished once in his career. He’ll face another very talented striker in Chad Murray. Murray is one of the better technical boxers on the roster. Murray is coming off a solid win over Azar Qasi in his last fight and is a very respectable 4-2 in the promotion. Bruyne should have the advantage on the ground in this fight and it’ll be interesting to see if he decides to use it against the talented boxer. At 23 years old, Murray is one of the better prospects in the lightweight division and a win over a former champion could really kick start his career. For Bruyne, he’ll need more than this fight to get another shot at Liam Donnelly after being defeated twice already.

LEGACY PREDICTION: BRUYNE BY DECISION

HEAVYWEIGHT: Thomas Bannon (10-4) vs Obelix De Gaul (12-6)

Thomas Bannon is a very scary man. Bannon didn’t arrive in Legacy with a ton of hype, but he’s 6-1 so far in the promotion and has finished all 6 of his wins. His only loss is to the champion Ji Lu a few fights ago. Bannon actually owns all ten of his wins by knockout and can hit you with the kitchen sink it seems like. He faces another very powerful striker in Obelix De Gaul in this fight. Gaul is coming off a second round TKO win over Dante Cross Furia that earned him a Knockout of the Night bonus. Bannon has received a few of those as well in Legacy. Gaul is more of a traditional sprawl and brawl boxer, but he isn’t completely one dimensional. Bannon has yet to see a decision in his pro career and I can’t see this fight being the one that goes the distance. We should see some fireworks pretty quick in this fight and the fight could go to the first man that lands a clean blow, given the striking power of these two.

LEGACY PREDICTION: BANNON BY TKO

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT: © Ravi Shankoli (22-4) vs Grigol Pandahammer (14-2)

In our main event, champion Ravi Shankoli will make his second title defense against a man on a huge roll, Grigol Pandahammer. Pandahammer has won his last 10 fights, including his last fight against former title holder Liam McGuiness. These two fighters are very similar, so I wouldn’t expect to see much grappling in this one. Both guys pack a lot of power in their strikes, but are very good at cutting off the cage and backing their opponent down with good footwork. Pandahammer has only fought a couple of times in Legacy, so some may say that the verdict isn’t quite in on him yet, but he made a huge statement dominating McGuiness and picking up the decision win. On the other hand, Ravi Shankoli has won his last 6 fights since dropping his Legacy debut against then-champion Patrick Brody. Shankoli went on to get some revenge for that loss by taking a decision from Brody and setting up his title shot a couple fights ago.

"Lucky" Liam McGuiness (246080)

Well after 3 losses in a row it feels good to be back on the winning track! I was losing that fight but was never in any danger and i knew he was slowing down and that it was only a matter of time.

Having said that, i can now go into ITFL with a win and hopefully i can continue my "Lucky" streak there!

LEGACY! 61 - Available on PPV!

04.01.16

Belle Centre - Montreal

Event preview prepared by: Taylor Powell (107803)

PRELIMS

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Johny Persecutioned (11-11) vs Francisco dAnconia (7-8-1)
MIDDLEWEIGHT: Noah MacManus (4-4) vs Louie Litt (3-1-1)
SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Master Wong (9-6) vs Vincenzo Vitalli (8-7)
WELTERWEIGHT: Better Dead (17-15) vs Nino Niederreiter (5-1)
WELTERWEIGHT: Kevin Anderson (10-5) vs Erik Kramer (11-6)

MAIN CARD

HEAVYWEIGHT: Gunner Hilton (13-3) vs Terrell Grant (18-8-1)

It feels like Terrell Grant is a guy that should be on the decline with how long he’s been in the promotion, but Grant is still just 26 years of age and a former champion in Legacy at heavyweight. Grant is definitely a grappler by nature and owns all but three of his eighteen wins by submission. Grant has five Submission of the Night bonuses in Legacy alone and is an impressive 6-3-1 against elite competition in the promotion. He gets a young up and comer in this fight, Gunner Hilton. Hilton is a striker who owns all of his wins by knockout and was riding a seven fight win streak before being finished by punches against Thomas Bannon in his Legacy debut. This fight quite simply comes down to Grant taking Hilton to the ground and using his jiu-jitsu. Hilton has incredibly good takedown defense though and is certainly the better striker between the two fighters. Grant needs a win to keep momentum, but a win could be tough to come by in this fight.

LEGACY PREDICTION: HILTON BY TKO

HEAVYWEIGHT: Bull Hurley (12-4) vs Corey Parker (11-4)

Corey Parker is a former 2 time USFC Heavyweight champion, but he’ll be taking a big step up in competition after signing a contract with Legacy. Parker is a very talented striker who typically likes to use his dirty boxing in the clinch, but he’s also a tremendous offensive wrestler who likes to get his opponent down and rain down hammer fists. Parker isn’t much on diversifying his striking, as he throws punches almost exclusively. It’ll be interesting to see how he deal with a diverse striker like Hurley who is typically a boxer but also mixes in low kicks very well and is very good at defending against the takedown. Hurley rebounded from a two fight losing streak in his last fight with a TKO win over Robbie Luatua, but he knows he has to start reeling off consecutive wins if he wants to get a sniff of Legacy gold. He did capture the Imperial Heavyweight title earlier in his career so he obviously knows what it takes to climb the ladder in a very competitive promotion.

LEGACY PREDICTION: HURLEY BY TKO

LIGHTWEIGHT: De Bruyne (16-3-1) vs Kelvin Parker (15-6)

In this fight, we have a matchup of two former Legacy 155 pound champions and guys who are still in the prime of their careers. De Bruyne has alternated wins and losses in his last seven fights, so he knows he needs to get on a streak in this fight after an impressive second round stoppage of Chad Murray in his last fight. Bruyne is a very high volume striker who mixes his strikes well, but prefers to head hunt with his punches and keep guys off balance by throwing more than the occasional leg kick. He faces off against Kelvin Parker who is coming off back-to-back losses, including a title fight loss to Arlington Beech a couple fights ago. Parker is more of a grappler than Bruyne, as evidenced by his 4 submission wins. Parker much prefers to stand and trade with his fists rather than his feet, but he’s a very talented boxer and could cause issues for Bruyne. This fight will probably be decided on the feet, but Parker could also take this fight to the ground and have a huge edge.

LEGACY PREDICTION: PARKER BY DECISION

BANTAMWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT: William Blake (16-5-1) vs © Jong Un Kim (20-3-1)

After dispatching Eugene Judd in a super-fight in his last bout, Jong Un Kim is now ranked inside the top 5 in the world at 135 pounds. He’ll defend his title in this fight against a familiar foe though. Kim and William Blake have fought twice so far and they have been thrillers. The first fight was an absolute beauty of a fight that ended in a draw. Kim went on to submit Blake in the rematch in the second round, but both guys know how evenly matched they are. These two guys are both black belts in BJJ and neither had ever been submitted before Kim locked in that arm bar in the second bout. Blake is the more one dimensional fighter on the feet, as Kim looks to throw leg kicks often to keep opponents guessing. Blake is the far more aggressive wrestler and isn’t just a submission fighter. He has no issues dropping hammer fists, as well as looking for submissions. In this trilogy fight, I think Kim will continue his dominant run and this win could propel him to the top spot in the world at 135 pounds.

LEGACY! 62 - Available on PPV!

04.02.16

Belle Centre - Montreal

Event preview prepared by: Taylor Powell (107803)

PRELIMS

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Ffff Ffff (0-0) vs Dsa Dsa (0-0)
HEAVYWEIGHT: Giraldo Costanzo (6-7) vs Leonel Gatti (7-6)
SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Jucal Jabneel (5-1-1) vs Vince Dixon (40-35)
SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Dave Brown (13-7-1) vs Evan Horizon (19-13)
BANTAMWEIGHT: Arthas Menethil (14-4) vs Matt Smith (13-6)

MAINCARD

HEAVYWEIGHT: Dante Boudain (11-4-1) vs Culver Crimson (11-4)

Legacy vet and former champion Culver Crimson is riding a two fight losing streak, but is still one of the better heavyweights in the promotion. Much was expected of Dante Boudain after arriving from the CTS promotion where he was a dominant champion, but a first round TKO loss to Ken Halo in his last bout takes a little of that shine away from him. Boudain is a very aggressive kickboxer who doesn’t think twice about dishing out hard kicks to the leg and also loves to go upstairs as well. He owns four wins by head kick and his kicking game is certainly his best attribute. For heavyweights, Culver Crimson is another guy who has no qualms about throwing leg kicks out there. Crimson is primarily a boxer though and is very dangerous in the clinch with his dirty boxing. This fight should stay on the feet as neither guy looks for takedowns at all and it should be the kicking of Dante Boudain versus the very active boxing of Culver Crimson.

LEGACY PREDICTION: BOUDAIN BY DECISION

MIDDLEWEIGHT: Vaas Haas (9-3) vs Rupert Blasts (9-2)

Former Legacy Middleweight champion Rupert Blasts was unable to bounce back after losing his title to Malik Al-Khaldi a couple fights ago. Ed Gennero dropped Blasts with a huge right hand at the end of the first round and that was all she wrote. Vaas Haas is also coming off a title loss to Malik Al-Khaldi in his last fight. Both guys need to string some wins together if they hope to compete for the title again and that makes this fight very pivotal. Haas is an all-around striker who has excellent kickboxing, but also thrives in the clinch with his dirty boxing. Haas is comfortable anywhere the fight takes place and the exact same can be said for Rupert Blasts. Haas has been submitted before and Blasts does have the better ground game in this one, but I doubt he looks to take the fight there. Expect a very fluid kickboxing contest that could go either way. Both fighters have some power in their strikes, but also have the ability to grind out decisions if they realize they don’t have enough power to finish the job.

LEGACY PREDICTION: BLASTS BY DECISION

SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Niko Alzate (19-11) vs Wei Pei (32-18-1)

In this battle of behemoths, we have two guys who are both very new to the promotion and needing to make a name for themselves. Niko Alzate is a former champion in the Insanity promotion and is currently 1-1 in Legacy after an impressive first round starching of Rex Tyrannosaurus. Stylistically, Alzate is a nightmare to prepare for because he’s good everywhere and doesn’t mind showcasing it. He’s a solid kickboxer, but he likes taking fights to the floor and when there, he possesses some very underrated jiu-jitsu. Wei Pei is a strike first type of fighter and more of a traditional boxer, but he does have some solid kicks. He also owns all 32 of his wins by knockout, a staggering statistic. It’ll be interesting to see what Alzate does in this fight against such a powerful striker like Pei. He could try to get the fight to the floor, but Wei Pei is no white belt on the ground himself. Still, I would expect to see Alzate shoot at some point early on and see what Pei’s takedown defense is made of.

LEGACY PREDICTION: PEI BY TKO

BANTAMWEIGHT: Geralt of Rivia (15-5) vs Da Skrumbo (21-7)

In our co-main event, we have a very entertaining matchup at 135 pounds. Former Legacy champion Da Skrumbo is looking to bounce back from back-to-back losses against the red hot Geralt of Rivia. After dropping his first couple fights in the promotion, Rivia has won three straight fights, but this is a massive step up in competition. Skrumbo failed to rebound from losing his title in his last fight against William Blake. One should definitely expect the hands to fly early and often in this fight because both guys are no nonsense stand and bang type of fighters. Only five of their combined 48 fights have made it to the judges’ scorecards and I can’t see this fight being any different. Both of these guys are such a breath of fresh air at 135 pounds that it’s no wonder they are co-main eventing this card. Interestingly enough, Rivia has showcased the much better chin over time, but he also hasn’t faced nearly the type of competition that Skrumbo has. This fight will be a war and it’ll come down to who can land the first big shot more than likely.

LEGACY PREDICTION: SKRUMBO BY TKO

HEAVYWEIGHT: Ji Lu (18-6) vs Obelix De Gaul (13-6)

After a trio of impressive TKO wins, Obelix De Gaul is primed for this main event fight against former Legacy Heavyweight champion Ji Lu. Gaul has been on a rampage lately, but this will be his stiffest test yet. Ji Lu is coming off the aforementioned title fight loss to Constantine Kermit. Lu was cut up very badly in that fight and the referee was forced to call the fight in the fourth round due to his cut. These fighters, like most heavyweights, love to throw the big bombs on the feet, but De Gaul has no problems throwing kicks and Lu loves to mix in the occasional takedown to keep his opponent guessing. Gaul will probably be able to stay in this fight if it does hit the ground and Lu should be able to navigate the array of kicks that Gaul will throw. It should all boil down to the fists, like most heavyweight fights do. This fight is a massive one for Obelix De Gaul who could find himself in line for a title shot if he were to upset the former champion here.

LEGACY! 63 - Available on PPV!

04.08.16

Belle Centre - Montreal

Event preview prepared by: Taylor Powell (107803)

PRELIMS

HEAVYWEIGHT: Eeazy Ee (25-9) vs Adam Morley (13-7)
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Daniel Williams (8-2) vs Agustin Trujillo (9-8-1)
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Wayne Conner (10-6) vs Stan Judea (6-2)
MIDDLEWEIGHT: Obi Canuel (7-2) vs Wendel Clark (12-4)
BANTAMWEIGHT: Barack Obama (9-6) vs Vincent Oketch (18-10)

MAINCARD

MIDDLEWEIGHT: Doug Pattersson (14-9) vs Friedrich Von Kuschelbar (14-7)

Doug Pattersson has reeled off four straight wins in Legacy after dropping his debut fight to Grado Itsyersel by decision. Pattersson previously fought in the very tough Imperial organization against household names like Ed Gennero and Cid Strife. Pattersson is very tough on the ground, as he possesses great jiu-jitsu and can also deliver ground and pound with the best of them. He certainly needs to shore up his strike defense to become an elite fighter, but he still has a lot of time left in his career. He’ll fight a similar ground oriented fighter in Friedrich Von Kuschelbar. Both of these guys prefer to duke it out on the ground, but Kuschelbar could certainly be the overall better striker on the feet if the fight takes place there. Kuschelbar has faced some stout competition so far in the organization and is a decent 1-2 given his competition level, but this is probably a fight he can’t afford to lose.

LEGACY PREDICTION: KUSCHELBAR BY TKO

WELTERWEIGHT: Jericho Hill (10-4-1) vs Alfred Hitscock (14-6)

Since debuting in Legacy quite a while ago, Alfred Hitscock has been perfect outside of a brutal first round knockout loss to Chiku Maneno. Hitscock was absolutely knocked out cold by a hard right hand in that fight. He’s won the other seven bouts that he’s had inside the promotion and has made a name for himself as a very talented and powerful boxer. He has four knockouts in Legacy that have come by way of one punch, giving you a good idea what kind of power he throws with. He’ll take on Jericho Hill in this fight, who has had a solid run in Legacy as well going 5-2-1. Hill is the far more dynamic striker who mixes in kicks and is just as comfortable in the clinch, but he doesn’t have quite the fight ending power that Hitscock does. It’ll be interesting to see how careful Hill plays it early on. Typically, Hitscock gets a lot of respect early in fights due to his fight ending power, but Hill certainly needs to be aggressive and mix his striking up well to pull out a win here.

LEGACY PREDICTION: HITSCOCK BY TKO

HEAVYWEIGHT: Thomas Bannon (10-5) vs Rodney Garcia (15-4)

Coming off a revenge win over former Legacy Heavyweight champion Culver Crimson, Thomas Bannon is riding a two fight winning streak. Bannon is very unique for a heavyweight because he mixes up his strikes very well and has a penchant for throwing well timed head kicks that catch other heavyweights off guard. Rodney Garcia is a much more one dimensional striker with his mostly boxing attack, but Garcia is a very talented ground fighter who looks to get the takedown and hunt for the submission. Bannon will certainly need to keep this fight standing to have a shot in this fight, one would think. He’ll have a few inches of reach in this fight over Garcia and it’ll be important for him to utilize it to keep Garcia outside and away from his hips. This is your classic grappler versus striker matchup with Bannon as the striker obviously. Where this fight takes place at will more than likely decide the winner.

LEGACY PREDICTION: GARCIA BY SUBMISSION

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT: Ed Gennero (20-9) vs © Ravi Shankoli (23-4)

Dominant Legacy Light Heavyweight champion Ravi Shankoli will put his title and 7 fight winning streak on the line against veteran Ed Gennero. Gennero has certainly been around the block in the promotion going 6-2 in his career and is currently on a 3 fight winning streak that earned him this title shot. Both of these guys love to get their hands moving early and often and both guys pack a lot of power as well. There isn’t much to say about this fight style wise because they are similar brawling type boxers, but a decision isn’t out of the pictures due to how well both fighters can manage a fight and keep themselves in fights even when they’re having a rough time. Shankoli appears to be the better striker on paper, so I’m not sure what Gennero can do to tip the scales in his favor here, but it’ll be a treat to watch these two guys go at it in our main event.

LEGACY PREDICTION: SHANKOLI BY TKO

HEAVYWEIGHT TITLE FIGHT: Stu Grimson (19-0) vs © Constantine Kermit (13-3)

In our main event, the frightening newcomer to Legacy, Stu Grimson, is taking on the seemingly unbeatable champion in Constantine Kermit. Grimson is 19-0 in his career and has dominated his two Legacy bouts and finished both opponents inside the distance. In fact, Grimson has all but one of his wins by TKO/KO and successfully defended his NEX title 11 straight times before moving on to Legacy. Kermit brings his own 7 fight winning streak into the cage and the vast majority have been by finish as well. Both of these guys are very well rounded strikers who mix in kicks more than most heavyweights and have multiple wins apiece via head kick. Both guys are almost exclusive standup fighters and avoid the clinch at all costs, so it’ll be strength versus strength in this much anticipated matchup. The aura surrounding Stu Grimson is absolutely incredible, but Constantine Kermit is the champion and has been unbeatable as of late. Both of these guys are easily top 15 heavyweights in the world, so it’s no wonder why this such a desirable fight.

LEGACY! 64 - Available on PPV!

04.09.16

Belle Centre - Montreal

Event preview prepared by: Taylor Powell (107803)

PRELIMS

HEAVYWEIGHT: Hennan Hoyce (7-3) vs Robbie Luatua (11-9)
BANTAMWEIGHT: Ruud Gullit (28-11) vs Hardijan Matic (12-5)
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Ivan Kuznetsov (14-7) vs Guido Gloom (15-6)

MAIN CARD

MIDDLEWEIGHT: Omar Little (12-5-1) vs Robert Mazzuca (16-7)

After coming out on the winning end of a very tight split decision in his last bout, Omar Little is now riding a 2 fight winning streak and has yet to be defeated inside of Legacy. Little is a former ROV Welterweight champion, but is fighting at 185 pounds now. Little is a jack of all trades as a striker, combining solid kickboxing with decent clinch striking. At just 24 years old, he’s still growing as a fighter and sharpening his skillset, but his toolbox is certainly big for a younger fighter. Robert Mazzuca is 1-1 inside Legacy after a solid unanimous decision win over Friedrich Von Kuschelbar in his last bout. Like Omar Little, Mazzuca was also a champion at 185 pounds in his previous organization, Troid. That isn’t the only similarity that these fighters share though. Mazzuca is also a good kickboxer who isn’t afraid for the fight to get down and dirty in the clinch. Mazzuca is more of a dirty boxer than an all-around striker like Little, but that is about all you’ll find stylistically that’s different between the two.

LEGACY PREDICTION: LITTLE BY DECISION

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Grigol Pandahammer (14-3) vs Brian Pereira (12-8-1)

Riding a ten fight winning streak going into his last fight, Grigol Pandahammer had earned a shot at the Legacy Light Heavyweight title. His streak consisted of three wins inside Legacy, as well as title fights in the Coyotile and Tradition organizations. Champion Ravi Shankoli was able to finish Pandahammer early in the second round, but it’s clear that Grigol Pandahammer is an elite fighter at 205 pounds in Legacy. He faces off against Brian Pereira in this fight. Pereira has won his last two fights and gets the step up in competition here against the recent title contender. Both of these guys are well rounded fighters who can strike with the best of them, but have no qualms about taking the fight to the ground. Grigol Pandahammer is the much more powerful striker in this fight and despite being six years the junior of Brian Pereira, has only fought in four less professional MMA fights. One would think Pereira knows he has to tread lightly on the feet with the powerful Pandahammer and it wouldn’t be shocking to see him going for the takedown early in this fight.

LEGACY PREDICTION: PANDAHAMMER BY TKO

HEAVYWEIGHT: Magnus Cross (26-13) vs Dante Cross Furia (15-6)

Magnus Cross was a decorated champion in the Slaughterhouse promotion and ran off a 9 fight winning streak in his heyday. He debuted in Legacy not long ago with a very impressive first round knockout win over Hennan Hoyce. Cross is a brawling puncher by nature and doesn’t typically expand his game much outside of throwing lefts and rights. He owns all 26 of his wins by knockout, but his takedown defense has been very suspect in his career. Dante Cross Furia also debuted recently, but was on the losing end of second round knockout from Obelix De Gaul. Furia is a very popular fighter who made a huge name for himself in the Troid organization. Furia is very similar in a lot of aspects to Magnus Cross, but Furia likes to mix it up with well-timed head and body kicks. Reach could play a factor in this one as Cross has over 6 inches of reach on Dante Cross Furia.

LEGACY PREDICTION: CROSS BY TKO

SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Gun Slinga (47-25) vs Mookie Blaylock (32-12)

Gun Slinga is easily one of the top super heavyweights in the world even after his last loss to Declan Sweeney for the Legacy Super Heavyweight title. Slinga has won title everywhere he’s competed virtually and has spent the last few years dominating the Death Squad promotion at 265+ pounds. Slinga is a nightmare to deal with in the clinch with his dirty boxing, but at distance he has a very well rounded striking game with the implementation of both high and low kicks to go with the dynamite in his hands. At 37 years of age, his chin may be starting to deteriorate some, but he’s still a dominant and frightening man to look across the cage at. Mookie Blaylock will do just that in this fight, but Blaylock is a seasoned veteran in his own right. Blaylock has competed in Legacy for quite a while and has faced the incredibly tough competition that comes with the territory. Mookie Blaylock is more of a boxer by nature but really mixes in unique strikes in the clinch and isn’t one dimensional on the feet either. This should be a great co-main event that we see a sudden ending to.

LEGACY PREDICTION: SLINGA BY TKO

LIGHTWEIGHT: Akeen Coker (18-4) vs Arlington Beech (21-3-1)

In our main event, we have a battle of top 10 155 pounders in the world. Akeen Coker is making his second Legacy appearance against the current Legacy Lightweight champion Arlington Beech, but the title isn’t on the line in this fight. Coker has been a champion in three different organizations already in his young career and will certainly expand on that before he hangs up his gloves. Arlington Beech has been the boogeyman at 155 pounds for everyone in Legacy, going 8-0 in the promotion with four straight successful title defenses. Coker is a volume striker in every sense of the word and utilizes some amazing footwork to go with it. He’s never been finished in his 22 fight career and has 12 of his 18 wins by decision. Coker is a willing offensive wrestler to go with his accurate striking and possesses high level jiu-jitsu. Arlington Beech may not have the quickness or accuracy that Coker has, but he certainly packs much more power in his strikes. Beech loves to get into the clinch and use his dirty boxing to brutalize opponents, but is also a very lethal boxer at distance. This fight will come down to how well Beech is able to handle the stick and move strategy that Akeen Coker is known for.

LEGACY! 65 - Available on PPV!

04.15.16

Belle Centre - Montreal

Event preview prepared by: Taylor Powell (107803)

PRELIMS

MIDDLEWEIGHT: Vaas Haas (9-3-1) vs Rupert Blasts (9-2-1)

BANTAMWEIGHT: Jong Un Kim (20-4-1) vs Geralt of Rivia (16-5)
SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Ethelbart Takahashi (45-21) vs Monster Hero (19-10)
LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Edinger Nucleus (15-6-1) vs Jacks Sole (10-2)

WELTERWEIGHT: Manolito Damhuis (13-5) vs Kim II Sung (14-9)

MAIN CARD

LIGHTWEIGHT: Chad Murray (10-6) vs Mike Hussle (15-9)

To kick off the main card, we have a couple of strikers that are still looking to make a name for themselves inside Legacy. Mike Hussle has been an impressive 3-1 and offers some very technical boxing. Hussle is a former professional boxer who has worked diligently to become a well-rounded MMA fighter and he’s been very successful in doing so. He likes to use the occasional leg kicks to change angles on opponents and keep them guessing, but his bread and butter is his boxing and when in the clinch, he possesses some very good dirty boxing. Chad Murray is another very talented and technical boxer, but he is the more effective kicker when it boils down to it. Murray is also the bigger fighter by a few inches and by more than a few pounds. Hussle should have the speed edge in this fight and he could make it very difficult for Murray to time him and get into a rhythm.

LEGACY PREDICTION: HUSSLE BY DECISION

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT: Ken Halo (17-6) vs Johan Attila (14-5)

In our next fight, we have a couple of highly touted guys who have both failed to cash in chances to win gold in Legacy in their last few fights. Ken Halo is working on a two fight winning streak against very solid competition after dropping his first two fights inside Legacy, including a title fight Nick Fjera in his debut. Halo is a very powerful boxer who owns 15 of his 17 wins by knockout and isn’t afraid to use powerful combinations to destroy the opposition. John Attila is a much better-rounded fighter. Attila prefers to throw with his hands, but he likes to do so primarily in the clinch and he’s a threat to take the fight to the ground from anywhere. Once there, Attila can rain down some vicious ground and pound or work for a submission behind his black belt in jiu-jitsu. This fight will come down to where the fight takes place. If Attila can get this to the ground, he should be able to pick up a win, but if not he’ll be hard pressed to stand and trade very long with the powerful Ken Halo.

LEGACY PREDICTION: HALO BY TKO

SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Mike Monday (14-3) vs Giacomo Benvenuti (28-4)

In our first of three straight super heavyweight bouts on the main card, two former champions in prestigious organizations will face off. Mike Monday was the former NYFN and VCL champion at 265+ pounds and easily got by Ernesto Oliveira in his Legacy debut with a first round knockout win. Monday has managed to produce a finish in all 14 of his wins with 13 coming by knockout and a lone submission win. Not to be outdone, former Steel Penn Icon champion Giacomo Benvenuti has all 28 of his wins by knockout and is one of the better counter punchers at this weight class in the world. Both of these guys are stand and bang boxers who love to get inside in the clinch and box as well, so I’d expect for both guys to be very comfortable in this fight. It’s hard to imagine these guys making it through three bells for sure and a finish could certainly be on one guys highlight reel.

LEGACY PREDICTION: BENVENUTI BY TKO

SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Samson Goldstein (16-6) vs Phillip Dyson (20-8)

In our co-main event, two perennial top 10 super heavyweight in the world will slug it out. Phillip Dyson is a former Legacy Super Heavyweight champion, but has fell on hard times as of late, losing his last two bouts. Samson Goldstein successfully debuted not long ago with a crowd pleasing first round knockout win over Ethelbert Takahashi, who’s fighting on the preliminary card. For a guy his size, Goldstein is remarkably well rounded and that could pose some issues for the much smaller Phillip Dyson in this fight. Goldstein will outweigh Dyson by over 30 pounds more than likely, but the reach should be very minimal as both guys are very similar height wise. Dyson will be looking to head hunt in this fight like he normally does, but he’ll have to be on his toes and watch out for the kickboxing and takedowns that Goldstein will undoubtedly throw at him. This is a fight that Phillip Dyson desperately needs to avoid going into a complete tailspin, but this is a very tough matchup.

LEGACY PREDICTION: DYSON BY TKO

SUPER HEAVYWEIGHT: Calm Like a Bomb (23-6) vs Ben Dobson (34-17)

In our main event, we have arguably the top two super heavyweights in all of the world facing off. Ben Dobson may be getting long in the tooth at age 35, but he certainly still has the knockout power that has made him one of the legends of the heavier weight classes in MMA. Dobson spent nearly a decade in the Synchronicity organization and became the champion at 265 pounds. He faces off against a man eight years his junior in Calm Like a Bomb. Bomb is an absolutely vicious striker who can finish guys in a multitude of wins. Looking at his resume, you’ll find numerous head kick wins and a superman punch victory as well. You never quite know what to expect from Bomb, but if he catches you with something, you’ll more than likely hit the ground. Both guys throw with reckless abandon and don’t try to take fights to the ground, so we should be looking at a fight that resembles rockem sockem robots. This is a huge fight for both guys, but a win in this fight could very easily put Ben Dobson as the unanimous #1 fighter in the world at 265+ pounds.
