HIGHLAND 62 PREVIEW BY BILLY JONESSON

Good evening all and welcome to the preview of Highland 62 on the Island at Hard Knocks Arena, it’s sure to be a sellout crowd. Boy do we have a lot to look out for in this one. Fans will not want to miss out on the action as 10 fights are set for the event with the welterweight and heavyweight titles up for grabs. I’m Billy Jonesson, here to take a look at the top 5 fights on the night and give my predictions, let’s jump right into this.

Maro “Roar” Pjetlic (4-0-1) vs. Adrik “Slabhead” Mihaylov (5-0-1)
Heavyweight Title

This is the match all fans are here to see: defending champion Mihaylov and his challenger Pjetlic square off once again to find out who the true heavyweight champ is. These two heavyweights are KO kings with all of their wins coming from knockouts, and after their last bout in Highland 54 ended in a draw, fans took to Buzz to demand they go one more round and settle it once and for all, and I’ve got to say, who wasn’t disappointed with a draw in a title match? I, for one, am pumped to see these guys get back after it and determine who is the true Highland heavyweight champion. In their last matchup, Mihaylov looked to keep Pjetlic in close in the clinch and give Pjetlic knees relentlessly, while Pjetlic looked to stay on the outside and strike when the time was right. For both fighters, this was an unordinary matchup. This was Mihaylov’s first bout that went past the first round, and the first to go longer than 2 minutes. Similarly for Pjetlic, this was his first fight that went to decision. Both fighters seem to have met their matches against each other, and have been working hard with coaches to get their stamina up ahead of their rematch. Let’s take a look at Mihaylov first. The 25 year old Romanian stands at a towering 202 cm and uses his long legs to get good knees in and boasts what many regard as the strongest knees on the Island. I’m excited to see if he plans to shake things up this time around or stick to what he knows he can dominate with: the clinch. Mihaylov is currently sitting at the number 4 spot in the Highland p4p rankings, dropping 2 spots after the draw with Pjetlic. Mihaylov needs to secure a win in this event to get back to the top of the totem pole. Looking now at Pjetlic, the 26 year old Croatian does have the weight advantage in this one, and throws every pound he has into his punches. He will surely look to stay on the outside and avoid the clinch. I’m looking forward to seeing how Pjetlic stays out of the clinch; he’s been working with his coaches on this one and has got to know it’s coming.

Keys to Victory:
Mihaylov needs to control the match in the clinch as he’s been proven to do time and again in his matches. If he can keep Pjetlic in close and hammer in the knees, it will be tough for Pjetlic to stay in it.
Pjetlic knows the clinch is coming and should be well prepared to defend it. If he can stay on the outside, avoid the clinch, and get his heavy hand in when he can, Mihaylov may have trouble controlling the match.

Prediction: Overall, this is a must-see match between two future heavyweight greats. I think in their last matchup, Mihaylov was unprepared to go the distance with Pjetlic and it caught him by surprise. My pick here is Pjetlic by decision. I think he’ll be ready to defend the clinch and there will be a new heavyweight champ for Highland. That being said, this fight can really go either way depending on who takes control. I’m excited to see where this one takes us.

Daron Acemoglu (5-2-0) vs. Maurice “The Crusher” Tillet (7-1-0)
Welterweight Title

For the welterweight title, we have two studs going at it in Acemoglu and defending welterweight champion Tillet and I can’t wait to get into this one. Both of these guys are coming off win streaks and certainly won’t want them to end when they walk out of that cage. Tillet, currently the 2nd p4p fighter in Highland, is coming into the cage with confidence having knocked off then number 1 Adam Shalashaska in his last fight at Highland 55. Tillet has to be eyeing that number 1 spot in the rankings coming into the cage. Meanwhile Acemoglu, currently sitting at the 20th spot in the Highland rankings, knocked out Nolan Diaz in his last fight. Let’s take a closer look at each of these fighters. For Tillet, the 26 year old has been fighting on islands his whole life, having been born in the Caribbean, so the Island isn’t far from home for him. With a record of 7 wins and 1 loss, this man can fight. All seven of his wins have come by KO and I’m sure he’ll be looking to add one more to that category in this fight. The wrestling counter fighter punishes his opponents' mistakes early and has a nice ground and pound game. Tillet keeps his opponents close and controls the fight from the ground until he finds the right moment to deliver the final blow. With the top spot on the rankings and welterweight title within reach, Tillet will be coming out ready to deliver a decisive win. Taking a look at Acemoglu now, the 26 year old hailing from Turkey has traveled far from home to be fighting on the Island. With a record of 5 wins and 2 losses, he has 4 knockouts to his name and 1 decision victory, proving he can go the distance in a fight. Also a wrestling counter fighter, Acemoglu has taken a few pages from Tillet’s book. However in this fight he should be wary of trying to control the ground game. Tillet is a superior BJJ fighter and might be able to out-maneuver Acemoglu on the ground. This will be the first title Acemoglu has fought for so you know he will be hungry to be crowned the next welterweight champ.

Keys to Victory:
Tillet needs to stay where he is comfortable and keep Acemoglu on the ground. If Tillet can control the position and wait for his opponent to make a mistake, he has a good shot at taking this one back home with him.
For Acemoglu, he needs to stay patient. As both fighters prefer counterplay, it can be tempting to get aggressive early. If Acemoglu lets Tillet come at him first, he’ll be comfortable reacting to what comes his way.

Prediction: I am excited to see what's to come of this fight, and see if Acemoglu can hang in with the current champ. For me, as both fighters like to stay on the ground, I’m picking Tillet by KO. Yes, Acemoglu has the advantage in boxing and muay thai, but I think if Tillet can keep this one on the ground he’ll minimize Acemoglu’s advantages.

Schlunckr Diesel (6-2-0) vs. Sean Martin (4-2-0)
Heavyweight Bout

What’s better than a couple of heavyweight knockout artists going at it? I know I can’t think of anything to top it. Diesel currently sits at the 16th spot in the Highland rankings and will be looking to climb up the ladder after this fight. Martin, currently under new management, looks to notch his first win with fresh supervision. Despite being the exact same height (an impressive 202 cm), Diesel has more than a 20 lb advantage over Martin, and I’ll be looking to see how this affects the fight. Taking a further look at Diesel, the 26 year old is looking to join elite company as one of the few famous Bhutanese people. He is surely a hometown hero. With a record of 6 wins and 2 losses, he’s managed to secure knockouts in each of his 6 wins, and hasn’t let a fight go on past the first round. Diesel adapts well to his competition, and plays to his advantages in each fight individually, keeping the fight on his terms. On to Martin now, the 26 year old from the Czech Republic is hoping to climb the ranks under new management. Currently sitting at the 35th spot on the Highland p4p rankings, I’d watch for him to creep up a little higher. This guy may be a little light by heavyweight standards, but don’t count him out. He uses his height advantage to punish his opponents with high flying kicks. All 4 of his wins were by a head kick knockout, and like Diesel hasn’t had a fight last longer than the first round. I’m interested to see how this fight will play out.

Keys to Victory:
Diesel needs to take advantage of some of Martin’s passive play and keep the fight on his terms. If Diesel can stay on his feet and control the fight, he’ll come out on top.
For Martin, I’d like to see him be a bit more aggressive this time around and try to take Diesel to the ground and let his BJJ advantage shine. Diesel has lost before by submission, and if Martin can get an early takedown and control from the floor, it’s sure to be a good night for him.

Prediction: In this matchup, I’ve got Diesel by knockout. Yes, Martin does have a sizable BJJ advantage, but I don’t see Diesel allowing himself to be taken to the ground. Diesel fights where he feels comfortable and he’s not going anywhere he doesn’t. He knows that Martin has an advantage on the ground and will be sure to prepare for that.

“Grazy Irish” Archie Laird (6-1-0) vs. Space Jesus (5-1-0)
Light Heavyweight Bout

This matchup features a couple of light heavyweights with different playstyles. Physically, they match up well weight wise, but Jesus has a massive height and reach advantage which will come into play. Laird currently sits at the 22nd spot in the Highland rankings, whereas Jesus is looking to climb up from the 57th spot with a decisive win here in this event. Taking a look at Laird, the 26 year old KO specialist from Ireland is no leprechaun. Laird has been bulking up at the gym to improve his superb ground and pound game. Laird is patient in fights, waiting for the right opportunity to take his opponents to ground and strike relentlessly. Jesus, however, plays a different game in the cage. Coming from the Bahamas, this caribbean kid loves the ground game. An aggressive submission specialist, Jesus is always looking for a takedown and sub. Jesus takes his time for the right takedown chance to come across, and as such fans find his fights to be rather anticlimactic. However, once he gets his takedown, he is relentless with sub attempts. His reach advantage gives him a huge help in BJJ, and he capitalizes on that in all of his fights.

Keys to Victory:
Laird should be cautious on the ground against Jesus. I know he’s a ground and pound specialist, but a strong BJJ fighter like Jesus is most comfortable on the ground. If Laird can maintain control and strike hard, he should come out on top.
Similarly, Jesus should be wary of letting Laird take control on the ground. If Jesus can keep Laird where he wants him and use his length to his advantage, he’s got a good shot of walking out victorious.

Prediction: My pick here is Laird by KO. Laird has shown no difficulties dominating the ground game in the past and I don’t expect that to change for this fight. Both fighters train at the same gym, so I wonder how they’ll hide their preparation from each other.

Amaru “Tank” Kawiwasulu (3-1-0) vs. Rashid Elkhan (4-0-0)
Heavyweight Bout

For the last fight set for preview we have another exciting heavyweight matchup on tap for the event between two impressive fighters. Kawiwasulu boasts a record of 3 wins and 1 loss, with all three of his wins coming by KO. This guy is scary big. Standing an impressive 185 cm and weighing in at just under 275 lbs, it doesn’t take much imagination to figure out where the Sudanese beast got his nickname from. Kawiwasulu has been working hard with his coaches to make weight for this fight, but don’t expect him to be any bit weaker than at full weight. Kawiwasulu loves to swing hard and will dominate opponents in the clinch if given the opportunity. This guy is a knockout machine, and will surely be looking for a quick one up against Elkhan. Meanwhile, Elkhan is every bit as big as Kawiwasulu. Standing at a towering 193 cm and the scales reading just over 265, Elkhan fills any room he is in. The 26 year old Russian will look to extend his unbeaten streak here against Kawiwasulu. Kawiwasulu is aggressive at the start, but Elkhan prefers a more reactionary game. His boxing background and height advantage should help him out in this one.

Keys to Victory:
Kawiwasulu needs to come out of the gates assertively and take control of Elkhan in the clinch early. I’d like to see if he can implement some leg work in his muay thai game and have that help him in the clinch. If he can keep Elkhan in close, it won’t be a long fight.
Elkhan needs to do just the opposite: stay on the outside and wait for the right time to strike. If he can catch Kawiwasulu on a mistake and punish him quickly, I think Elkhan has the ability to keep his unbeaten streak alive.
Prediction: My pick here is Elkhan by KO. As long as he can stay on the outside, I think Elkhan has got this one. Kawiwasulu tends to rely on his raw power a little too much, and Elkhan should be prepared to punish his mistakes. Overall, I’m excited to see this matchup and how it unfolds.

That’s all I’ve got for this preview of Highland 62. Thanks for tuning in, I hope you all enjoyed it. As always, let me know what you think. If you think my predictions were shit, let me know! Thanks to all who worked to get this together, and best of luck to all fighters competing! Until next time!

Ed Green has taken the lightweight division of Highland by storm. Standing at #7 p4p on the Island, he is running on a seven fight win streak with all of his wins coming by way of submission and half of his victories have all come in the first round. Green, who will be fighting on the fifteenth of June, agreed to one of the most dangerous matchups in Kranckx Diesel a knockout artist who has already fought Green and looks to get redemption Tuesday Night! Also, we ask Green about a potential mega fight with two division champion Noel Diaz with the possibility of him moving up in weight very soon. You can follow Green on Buzz or subscribe to Highland for more information regarding the Detective.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Ed Green
Ed Green moments before he made his professional debut

 Q. Ed, I just want to start off this interview and thank you for spending time with us.
My pleasure. Its an honor to be here at Highland, I have been a fan for years.

Q. Ed, why do they call you the Detective? I think i know but honestly i am not 100 percent sure.
My name is inspired by NYPD detective Ed Green. Also my opponents feel like they're under arrest when I'm yanking their arms off.

Q. You have arguably your toughest fight in front of you in Kranckx Diesel, a rematch for the Highland title. How do you envision this second fight with him going?
I agree. Diesel is the toughest fight available for me. Much tougher than that chump Nolan Diaz. I'm always looking to test myself against the best opponents, that's why I'm giving Diesel a shot even though I made him tap without breaking a sweat.

Q. The last fight, you were able to secure a takedown against him and locked in a nasty kimura. Do you think it will go as simple as that?
Well I'm not stupid, I know he would knock me out if we kept it standing. That's why I'm taking him down and ripping his arm off. In the first round. Believe it.

Q. Reading into the fight a little, it would seem as though Diesel does not want this fight to go to the ground and will look to control you in the clinch game with his strength. Would pulling guard from the clinch be something you would be open to doing or are you more of a top fighter only?
Of course, the ground is my ocean. Once we hit the mat, he's in my world - top or bottom, doesn't matter at all.

Q. Now, Diesel is probably looking at this fight as pure redemption but for you there is already another fight on the horizon. Is it hard not to look past Diesel or are you only focused on him at the moment?
As I said, Diesel is a very tough test, I can't look past him. But I do believe I'll get a finish and move on to bigger (or smaller) things.

Q. The other fight i mentioned is Noel Diaz, the #1 p4p fighter in the Island and two division champion. He plans to move up in weight and take your gold. What goes through your head when you first heard that?
Well that was actually my idea. I asked to fight him after my last bout but I think he's scared. He told Callum he wanted some time to prepare. My opinion? He's just scared and waiting for the Island season to end cause he knows I'll dominate if we ever fight.

Q. Diaz is a submission specialist like you actually. What separates you from him inside the cage?
Diaz is a chump. He's been dominated by journeymen until he gets hail Mary submissions. I dominate my opponents until they want a way out. And thats what Id do if he ever had the balls to face me. Id take him down, pass his guard over and over, wear him out then make him quit.

Q. Should this fight end up happening, what do you think would be different about your preparation for that fight as opposed to most of your other matchups?
Nothing at all. Guys like Diesel are much tougher than Diaz. I wouldnt need to change a thing.

Q. Ed, again thank you so much for your time. Your fans have been dying for us to meet with you. Would you like to give a word to your fans or sponsors?
Thank you, Hector, and thank Callum for running this amazing org. Its an honor to fight him and an honor to represent my fans. Thank you for following me and believing in me. Oss

Highland Top Ten Countdown

Highland Fans, this is a Mid June update. Many of the top ten fighters on here have fights in the coming days or weeks. At the end of our Top Ten Countdown, we also have a very special list of two potential men who may break into our top ten by next month. Do you agree with the top ten or Disagree? let me know below!

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Noel Diaz

1. Noel Diaz
Island P4P #1

8-0 is the record of Highlands top most fighter. The Submission sensation has stopped every single one of his opponents by forcing them to tap out and the path of the guillotine seems to be his most favored way. Noel Diaz is beloved by so many fans who tune in to Highland. He secured the bantamweight and featherweight title and it is rumored that he is bulking up to take the lightweight title in the near future. Noel Diaz has been in some classic fights and is sure to put on several more. Diaz trains at the Island Project and is sponsored by Island Xtreme Clothing and Beachside Supplements. He currently holds 4 submission of the night awards and 1 fight of the night award. An exclusive interview with Noel Diaz earlier this month is in the Highland forums.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Maurice Tillet

2. Maurice Tillet
Island P4P #2

The Crusher that is Maurice Tillet (8-1) is one of the most dangerous fighters in all of Highland! He has forced opponents to submit via strikes, cut them open to where doctors stopped it, and put opponents into an unconscious state. Tillet is Highlands welterweight king and with hands of stone looks to stay at the top of the division for a long long time. Sponsored by Beachside Supplements, Tillet trains at Walter J Abramowitz center for Bigness where he trains daily on his path to greatness!

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Torhte Finlayson

3. Torhte Finlayson
Island P4P #3

Gingy Bear Torthe Finlayson (8-0) is perhaps the most fearsome Light Heavyweight the Island has ever seen. Highlands Light Heavyweight Champion has knocked out every single one of his opponents in such dominating fashion and half of them in the first round. The Scottish Bear is so down to earth and friendly with everyone he meets but once that cage door closes he turns into a wrecking machine. Torhte Finlayson is undoubtedly a walking highlight reel and each time he fights it is guaranteed the arena will sell out due to his presence alone. You can catch Finlayson on June 18th when he defends his title against Ludwig Lachman (7-2)

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Lucas Barbosa

4. Lucas Barbosa
Island P4P #6

The undefeated Lucas Barbosa (6-0) has been running through the middle weight division at a speed that is unprecedented. Training at Walter J. Abramowitz and losing morale through the tatty gym there, Lucas Barbosa has submitted all of his opponents and five of them in the very first round. Holder of a brown belt in BJJ, Lucas Barbosa has been reportedly training rigorously on his ground game looking to constantly develop it and eventually become one of the sports greatest BJJ practitioners of all time.  Also, has anyone else noticed the strange facial similarties between him and Tillet or is that just me? You can catch Lucas "The Hulk" Barbosa make his first title defense against the knockout phenom that is Ottaa Koppia (5-2) Tomorrow Night!

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Maro Pjetlic

5. Maro Pjetlic
Island P4P #7

Three time fight of the night winner and unbeaten heavyweight champion of Highland, Maro "Roar" Pjetlic (5-0-1) should replace his middle name with excitement. An aggressive and confident fighter Maro pushes the pace against each of his opponents and often knocking them out before they know it. Maro stands at 6"4 and 265lbs and is in every sense of the word a beast. His rivalry with Adriak was one of the best Highland has seen. He looks to defend his Heavyweight Crown against the Infamous Needle Dick on June 18th at the Hard Knocks.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Ed Green

6. Ed Green
Island P4P #8

Ed the Detective Green (8-1) is an absolute destroyer inside the octagon. With all of his victories coming by way of submission, Ed Green is one of the worst players in Highland to find yourself on the mat with. With half of his wins ending in the first round he has proven that he is a different caliber and has set himself apart from his competition. He has graciously accepted and even called out the current Featherweight champion to move up and challenge but first he has accepted a dangerous rematch in Kranchkx Diesel tomorrow night! You can read an exclusive interview with Ed Green in the Highland Forums!

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Adam Shalashaska

7. Adam Shalashaska
Island P4P #10

Adam Shalashaska (9-1) otherwise known as "Revolver Ocelot", a nickname I cant understand when searching google images, is in my opinion one of the very best in the entire Island. Finisher via submission of almost every single opponent he has faced, Adam Shalashaska has defeated some of the very best in the welterweight division and hopes to get that rematch against Maurice Tillet in the coming weeks but first has to defeat Borislaw Stankov on June 23rd.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Kazuo Takashi

8. Kazuo Takashi
Island P4P #12

There is no fighter on the entire Highland Roster who gets less recognition than the bantamweight champion, Kazuo Takashi (7-0) Island Projects brown belt master has submitted each of his opponents with 5 of the 7 of them in the first round. His close brotherly relationship with Noel Diaz has seen him improve steadily and he looks to defend his title tomorrow night for the third time against Oliver Shultz in what should be a thrilling match up.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Needle Dick

9. Needle Dick
Island P4P # 13

Original bad boy of Highland and former Heavyweight Champion, Needle Dick is a problem from start to finish. This guy looks to put any and each of his opponents away from the moment he steps in the cage. His one and only loss was to Titus Lesnar in what then showed fight fans a truly humble man in Dick. He has bounced back from that defeat with three knockout victories two of which were in the first round. You can watch Needle Dick fight live for the title on the 18th as he looks to become a two time Heavyweight Champion!

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Cathair McKay

10. Cathair McKay
Island P4P #17

One of my favorite fighters in all of Highland is undoubtedly the former undisputed middleweight champion, "Irish" Cathair Mckay (8-1). Mckay is on a two fight winning streak knocking out some serious competition on the race to become the number one title contender. Long time trainee at Tezs Stand and Bang, McKay is anxiously awaiting for the winner of tomorrow nights title fight so he could swoop in as the next challenger or get that potential rematch against the violent Crackudo.

Potential Top Ten fighters to watch out for:

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Rashid Elkhan

Rashid Elkhan
Island P4P# 34

Rashid Elkhan is a heavyweight knockout king who has hit a groove in his last four fights knocking out of each his opponents in the first round. The undefeated heavyweight trains with some of the best at Tezs Stand and Bang and knows that his Dagestanian Bloodline strikes fear in each of his opponents.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Mara Tantor

Mara Tantor
Island P4P #29

Tantor is flying under the radar but not for long. The Light Heavyweight is throwing dynamite in every strike and has thus finished four of his five opponents in the first round via knockout. Do not be surprised if Tantor breaks into the top ten and challenges for the title by the end of next month.

I don’t have to say that to you because you choose to sit around and wait instead of fighting some tough contender, scared ass bitch. Wouldn’t be undefeated if you weren’t an avoider

Kranckx Diesel is the current lightweight champion of Highland. After bringing the former title challenger down in the first round due to his heavy hands he now has positioned himself in an mma triangle, its like a love triangle but not. Amway, Diesel who finally redeemed his one loss had just accepted the trilogy bout which takes place on the 20th of June at Hayashis Lounge. I had a moment to sit down with the new lightweight champion and now #7 p4p on the Island and # 5 on Highland. Diesel currently has no sponsors so...Get at him Beachside Supplements.

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Kranckx Diesel
Kranckx Diesel on the beach two days after winning the Title.

 Q. Kranckx Diesel, the new undisputed, lightweight champion of the world! How does that sound my man?

A: That sounds wrong. I'm not the 'new' champion, I'm also the old champion. I am the first HIghland Champion and I expect to be the last. No offense taken.

Q. No offense taken, you have regained your title! You got the rematch you have been anxiously awaiting and within moments of the opening round knocked out the only guy to defeat you. What was your game plan going into this one?

A: Yeah, I smacked the guy around a bit but then I got bored and decided to knock him out.

Q. The knockout honestly looked horrific. We noticed that you looked significantly bigger in muscle, it was rumored you were working out a lot but now we know it. Did you expect to outmuscle your opponent?

A: Some of that is due to the injections I've been given for my asthma. Entirely legal af course. Makes you somewhat crazy too at times.

Q. Whoa, um...well, Your clinch work striking was literally impeccable tonight. How much work have you put in to enhance that level of your game?

A: Clinching comes naturally to me. Like banging my best friend's girl or taking a dump. It just sort of happens you know.

Q. Oh I know very well best friend, very well! We definitely want to let you celebrate but we have to know, what's next for the Lightweight title holder, you didn't take a punch in this fight are you ready to get back in there and if so, who makes sense to you now?

A: Well, McGregor apparently promised Green a rematch. I don't realy understand why because the outcome will be pretty much the same. After that I hear a small dude from the 145lbs wants to have a go. I just show up and do my thing. I really don't care who they sent me.

Q. Just to try to clear this up then, If it came down to it, is it the Green trilogy or Diaz Champ vs Champ fight you would prefer for your first title defense?
A: I really don't mind which one they sent me first. I wouldn't mind if they sent me both at the same time actually.

Q. We know you already thanked your fans but is there anyone else out there yo want to give a shoutout to?
A: Hey mom and dad, mr Dieselnoi says I almost made enough money to buy you a new trailer! See you soon!

There you have it folks. The Lightweight Challenger is freely welcoming all comers after he has regained his prized beauty. If you are interested in watching him fight, check out the fight on June 20th!

On behalf of Highland and the Island Anti Doping Agency, we can confirm that Diesel has not enhanced any part of his game and he has achieved all he has through saying his prayers and taking his vitimins. It is true that we were unable to retrieve his last sample because he threw a chair at the official, but in Diesel's defence his rage was likely due to finding out he was being made fight Ed Green for a third time.

"Granite chin"

Pjetlic misses with a body punch
and Dick counters with a monster hook and another for good measure! Pjetlic falls to the ground, out cold! Stick some heavy metal music over the top of that clip and it's one for the highlight makers!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Needle Dick!
Needle Dick is the new heavyweight champion!

Auric Gallahad Twitter page: I will be watching the 170 pound match between the champion Maurice Tillet and Larry Shark closely. If Maurice wins I will be fighting for the title as we both will be putting our 5 fight win streaks on the line against one another and if he loses to Shark I will have to see if the Highland brass want to give the two time champ a rematch or give the title shot against Shark to the guy with longest winning streak in the division. Either way it looks like it should be a good fight and has a lot implications for me.

IslandFightFan01: Who do you think will win?

Auric Gallahad: I think it could go either way. Tillet has made a very successful career out of taking his opponents down and beating them down, Mark Coleman the godfather of ground and pound style. Shark has made a career of submitting his opponents and putting that purple belt to work. Tillet's only loss has come by way of submission but that was some time ago. Shark is the more well rounded fighter but I think the experience is going to give Tillet the edge in this fight. So I'm going with and still champion.

RojahDodjah: How do you see yourself and either guy matching up?

Auric Gallahad: They are both great fighters and I will be honored to share the cage with either guy. They both pose their own certain difficulties. But I think I match well.

*Me wondering if I can downvote someone for beating my fighter*

Haha congratz Walter. Just for anyone managing a FW right now, Dulo is fighting in the next title fight. Noel Diaz has moved up to LW to challenge Diesel for the LW belt. If he loses, I presume he'll defend his FW title again. If he wins, he'll stay at LW and Dulo will fight someone for the vacant FW title.

Sanka Coffee: Thank you for tuning in to another exciting episode MMA Island. We have one of your favorite young guests appearing again on the show Auric Gallahad. Auric you have a title fight coming up against Tillet is that right?

Auric Gallahad: Thanks for having me on the show again Sanka, and yes that is correct.

Sanka Coffee: What do you think of the current champion?

Auric Gallahad: He is a great champion and has put up an impressive record. I have a lot of respect for Tillet. He is now on a 5 fight winning streak with 3 of those 5 fights being title matches and not making it out of the first round. He is the king of ground and pound.

Sanka Coffee: How do you see the fight going?

Auric Gallahad: Well on paper I should be a heavy underdog. I think this fight will more than likely come down to who gets the takedown and ends up on top. Not that I don't have the ability to pull off a submission from the bottom but I'd rather be on top neutralizing the power of his powerful hammerfists. Yes I have been rocked before and pulled off the win with a submission after in my second fight. While I also think highly of Shark who he defended his title against, I think if Tillet expects the fight to be almost 5 minutes with me and he just has to defend off one submission attempt he is sadly mistaken. Even though he is a higher rated belt than me I still have some of the best submissions on the island, even though he has the edge in wrestling as a whole and is the taller and heavier guy I have some of the most technical takedowns on the island. And I think I will have a slight speed advantage that may be key for me in the fight.

Sanka Coffee: You put a lot out there and you respect the champion but you make it sound like you have this fight wrapped up.

Auric Gallahad: Oh by no means is the fight wrapped up. I just have the ability to win this fight, but if I was betting I'd bet on the Champion. As a fighter though you have to push that out of your mind while keeping your mind open to the dangers your opponent poses so that you don't get over confident and yet you don't get so down that don't bring your best. Tillet is as dangerous as they come and he has wealth of experience and years dedicated to fighting on me to draw from. So by no means is this a walk in the park, but I'm not going to get star struck against a guy I admire so much in the division and just give him the fight.

Sanka Coffee: Are you doing special to train for your fight and what are your plans if you win?

Auric Gallahad: I'd like to say I am doing something special to train for the fight but with just 9 days away I am just going to train like it's just another fight. I'll do some fitness training, a little stand up defense, and work on sharpening what it is I do well. If I win I would like to defend the belt once before the island comes to an end.

Sanka Coffee: That's all the time we have on the show. Thank you for appearing on the show, and thank you for tuning in.
