Negotiations, took a while but we got there in the end.

We're still looking to book three more fights for EMMA 2.  If there is anyone free that you'd like to fight DM me.

And we continue to press on with recruitment, even though many fighters are terrified of testing themselves in the deep waters of Evolution.

Event Review: EMMA 1 - Gracie vs. Larsen

Last night saw our debut card EMMA 1 take place at the Micro Arena in Las Vegas.  353 fans were in attendance and witnessed 10 fights.  The final card rating was 152.95.

(170lbs) Dalton McConnell vs. Jason Laszlo

The opening stanza began with McConnell chasing Lazlo across the cage.  McConnell was loading up on shots as Laszlo tried to counter with leg kicks.  It was slow going until McConnell cut Lazlo with an overhand right.  The fight was less than a minute old when Lazlo tried to close the distance and McConnell countered with knee that send Lazlo crashing to the mat.  It was an outstanding finish to open the card with.

Dalton McConnell won by KO(Knee) after 0:59 of Round One.

(135lbs) Dylan Smith vs. Clinton Strong

Boxing prodigy Dylan Smith sent out a warning to Bantamweights everywhere.  Smith began the fight looking like a man that had places to go.  He caught Strong with a nice combination and rocked him with a solid hook.  Strong had a rush of blood to the head and tried to steamroll Smith, who backed away and caught him with the sweetest of jabs that knocked Strong out cold after just 9 seconds.  Dylan Smith then got down on all fours over Strong and barked like a dog.  Thank god he didn’t sniff his bum,

Dylan Smith won by KO(Punch) after 0:09 of Round One.

(205lbs) Apollinaire Aury vs. Pete Prescott

The opening minute featured Aury tried to set the pace, and Prescott sniping from distance.    Aury wobbled Prescott with an uppercut only for Prescott to return fire with an overhand right a little while later.  Prescott was having more success with his counters.  It was hard to say whether it was fatigue or overconfidence but two minutes in Prescott’s hands were noticeably lower.  Prescott caught Aury with an uppercut that bounced him off the cage.  About three and a half minutes in they stood and traded, testing each others chins.  Aury’s face began to swell, and Prescott went in for the kill and walked right into a straight that dropped him.  Aury didn’t need to be asked twice and jumped into mount and began pounding away forcing the referee to stop the contest with just 14 seconds left in the round.

Apollinaire Aury won by TKO(Punches) after 4:46 of Round One.

(265lbs)Robert Mohan vs. Vadim Leonov Jnr

Mohan stung Leonov with a hook that had his ears ringing.  Less than 20 seconds had gone by when Mohan caught Leonov with a spinning backfist.  Mohan followed up with a devastating right hand that dropped Leonov who managed to fling himself back to his feet with the help of the cage.  The two fighters wrestled against the cage with Mohan coming out on top.  Mohan broke the clinch and threw a combination that finished with an overhand right that had Leonov doing the chicken dance.  Thankfully the referee stepped in and waved off the fight.

Robert Mohan won by TKO(Punches) after 0:38 of Round One

(185lbs)Razmik Grigorian vs. Won Chuen Cao

The fight opened rather tentatively with both fighters looking to work from a distance.  It continued in much the same vane, with the fighters swatting at flies in the centre of the cage.  After two and a half minutes the fighters began to find their range, with Cao throwing an uppercut that wobble Grigorian.  Razmik kept headhunting and cut Cao late in the round.  Grigorian began to have more success with his leg kicks.

The second round saw both fighters trying to swing to win.  When Cao overthrew and ended up off balance Grigorian managed to rock him with a beautiful counter.  Cao managed to find his legs and began to take control of the round by mixing up his strikes nicely.  Cao’s timing was considerably better and he had the measure of Grigorian’s counter strategy.

The third round took a peculiar turn when Cao slapped Grigorian with an open palm.  An attempted head kick by Cao missed and he slipped to the floor, however Grigorian wasn’t alert enough to take advantage of the opportunity.  Suddenly Grigorian found his timing once again and wobbled Cao with a straight left on the button.  Grigorian began dropping his arms as the fatigue set in which led to Cao dropping him to one knee with a right hook.  Swelling appeared on Cao’s face as the damage started to take its toll.  Exhaustion set in and Cao began to miss more and more until Razmik Grigorian planted his feet and caught Cao on the chin.  He followed up with another barrage of punches forcing the referee to stop the fight in the final round.

Razmik Grigorian won by TKO(Strikes) after 3:17 of Round 3.

(205lbs) Tang Cao vs. Johnny Lydon

Lydon began the fight like a windmill on amphetamines.  Tang Cao repeated Won Chuen Cao’s move and slapped Lydon around the chops.  Lydon moved into the clinch which backfired as Cao landed the better shots before turning him against the cage.  Cao escaped from the clinch only for Lydon to try again.  They say that madness is trying to do the same thing again and again and expecting different results.  Once again Cao got the better of the close range exchanges.  Cao managed to break the clinch again and fired off some nasty leg kicks, frustrating Lydon who returned fire with his own slap.  Lydon’s hands began to drop, and so did he when Cao caught him with a clean right hook.  Cao followed up with a nasty uppercut that had Lydon looking like the Father of the Bride at a wedding.  He was all over the place.

Round Two began with a bang as Cao dropped Lydon immediately.  Lydon managed to get back to his feet and desperately tried to clinch.  Cao started landing  so Lydon grabbed hold of him for dear life.  The two exhausted fighters clung on to each other.  Cao dropped Lydon with an uppercut and followed up hard causing the referee to wave the fight off.

Tang Cao won by TKO(Strikes) after 1:27 of Round 2.

(185lbs) Hendrik Vermeulen vs. Captain Gonza

The fight began with Vermeulen looking to counter and Gonza dropping bombs.  The Captain found Vermeulen with a right hook and dropped him momentarily.  Vermeulen’s defences were less than tight as he continued to drop his hands low.  There is a reason only Muhammed Ali got away with it.  Gonza continued to snipe at Vermeulen’s head, his predictability making it easy for Vermeulen to counter.  Gonza threw out a leg kick only for Vermeulen to drop him with a perfectly timed counter right.  The Captain scrambled to his feet only to be caught by an outstanding superman punch that knocked him out cold.

Hendrik Vermeulen won by KO(Superman Punch) after 2:07 of Round Two

(145lbs) Gustavo Figueroa vs. Mason Rogers

The opening minute was dominated by Figueroa whose jab and move strategy was working to perfection.  Figueroa started looking for a one punch finish which Rogers easily avoided.  Rogers began to retreat and starting aiming leg kicks to manage the distance.  Rogers grabbed hold of Figueroa only to receive a few punches to the head for his troubles.  Rogers once again clinched up and was dominated by Figueroa.

The second round began with the fighters swinging at each others shadows.  Figueroa’s movement was superb  preventing Rogers from getting a paw on him.  Very little happened in the mid section of the round with the fight only coming to life in the last minute when Rogers finally began to land.  The round came to an end with Rogers right cheek beginning to swell up.

The final round saw Figueroa landing more shots and Rogers having some success with his body kicks.  Figueroa continued to be elusive and was landing more shots than his opponent.  The constant head shots took their toll and Rogers began bleeding from the nose.  The final minute saw Figueroa begin to taunt his opponent.  The judges cards were announced with Figueroa taking it 30-27 on all three scorecards.

Gustavo Figuero won by Unanimous Decision.

(185lbs) Donnie Larkin vs. Davido Monto

At the sound of the bell Larkin forced the clinch and pulled guard and started throwing up triangles like he was at a rave.  The grappling show continued with Larkin attempting a guillotine and Monto content to try and twist Larkin’s legs into various painful contortions.  Larkin managed to reverse position and the effort was visible on both fighters.  He passed to side control and began working the ground and pound.  Monto remained a submission threat from his back.  Monto managed to reverse the position close to the end of the round .

Round Two began with some actual punches with Larkin coming off better.  It wasn’t long before Larkin pulled guard once again and the submission competition continued.  Larkin managed to reverse position.  Monto threw up some desperate triangles while Larkin was content to control the position and throw the occasional elbow.  As the round went on Larkin managed to connect with some big shots.

The final round began with Larkin forcing the fight into the clinch and Monto taking him down with a hip toss.  Monto landed a nasty elbow and almost caught Larkin in a kimura.  Larkin managed to sweep once again demonstrating his superb defensive grappling.  An exhausting Larkin looked to stall as Monto kept trying to find a way to submit him.  Half way through the round Monto caught Larkin in a guillotine and very nearly finished the fight.  When Monto tried a sweep Larkin managed to mount him and saw the rest of the round out comfortably.  Larkin took the fight 30-27 on every judges scorecard.

Donnie Larkin won by Unanimous Decision.

(185lbs) Morten Larsen vs. Eliz Gracie

The fight got off to a flier with Larsen cutting Gracie in the first 10 seconds.  Gracie looked badly out of shape and Larsen took advantage and dropped him with a combination and it was over.  Eliz Gracie took the microphone to announce his retirement from MMA.

Morten Larsen won by KO(Punches) after 0:18 of Round 1

Summary

It was one hell of night that saw eight finishes from ten fights.  Dylan Smith won KO of the Night in a fight that took the same amount of time as I do to make love.  Twice.  Fight of the Night went to the utter madness which was Captain Gonzo and Hendrik Vermeulen.  The superman punch was the icing on the cake.  An honourable mention goes to Robert Mohan who looked fantastic in his Evolution debut.  And finally,  I just want to take this opportunity to thank all fighters and their managers from making it an unforgettable night.

EMMA 2 Preview - Tau vs. King

951867175_EMMA2.jpg.26d5883ee1c305c54d11949fd8aed87a.jpg

After the rip-roaring success of our debut event EMMA 2 comes hot on its heels on October 29th at Wild Bob’s Bar in sunny Las Vegas.  We have a stacked card featuring nine fights headlined by one of the biggest names in Mixed Martial Arts, Tau Masunwendinghamer,  That’s right.  You know if you say his name three times in front of a steamy mirror at midnight you are likely to have a brain aneurism and end up with a dislocated tongue.

Prelims

(135lbs) Ozaki Buakaw(3-2-0) vs. Glenn Morano(6-5-0)

Glenn Morano has his work cut out here against the rangy Osaka Buakaw.  Buakaw has a twelve centimetre height advantage and is somewhat of a grinch in the clinch.  He will likely use his jab to utilise his reach advantage before picking his moments to bring the pain in the clinch.  Worryingly for Morano, Buakaw can also hold is own on the ground.  Morano is going to have to rely on his boxing to get to work on the inside.  Preventing Buakaw clinching up with him is vital here, as they are well-matched on the ground.

(170lbs) Malik Hooker(3-2-0) vs. Terrell Knight(0-1-0)

Our second fight of the evening is a fascinating clash between two ground fighters.  Malik Hooker is a BJJ blue belt who will be hunting takedowns from the opening bell.  A devastating ground and pound merchant, Hooker has a 97% strike accuracy when grounded.  Knight went three rounds on his debut succumbing to a third round knockout.  He is a quality wrestler who needs to bully Hooker up against the cage and keep him there.

(135lbs) Mercury Milkyway(2-0-0) vs. Chuck Demorris(1-0-0)

The marvellously named Mercury Milkyway makes his Evolution debut against the also undefeated Chuck Demorris.  These fighters are replicas of each other with the likely edge going to Demorris for his boxing.  Demorris debut ended with him beating down his opponent for three minutes, landing 100% of his head shots.  Alarmingly Milkyway has an impressive 97% snipe rate swell meaning that this bout is going to be a test of chins as both fighters will likely swing to win.

(265lbs) John Amery(12-11-0) vs. Sol Peters(2-0-0)

Journeyman John Amery comes into this bout on a 5 fight losing streak.  A three-time submission of the night winner, he is incredibly dangerous on the ground.  His opponent, Peters is an impressive specimen and his going to have to keep the fight standing to have a chance.  Peters has a decent takedown defence, so this could be an intriguing matchup.

Main Card

(265lbs) Ted Frucker(2-0-0) vs. Armin Brorsson(1-0-0)

7 foot Frucker has a massive twenty centimetre height advantage over Brorsson and will be looking to make his size count.  The Swede, Armin Brorsson is up against it here and needs to utilise his Muay Thai if he is to take the win.  Frucker really has two options, he could use his size to try and keep Brorsson against the cage and utilise some dirty boxing.  Alternatively he may well take it to the ground even though the fighters are rather evenly matched there.

(265lbs) Titan Reign(23-17-0) vs. Solomon Pruitt(6-2-1)

MMA legend and former ABW Heavyweight Champion Titan Reign finds himself on a winning streak once again faces off against an opponent seventeen years younger than him.

The less experienced Pruitt is a top quality BJJ brown belt would certainly have the advantage if he can take Reign down.  Titan Reign will likely use his leg kicks to maintain a safe distance and will look to turn it into a dog fight.

(135lbs) Edwin Hubble(4-1-0) vs. Giacomo Bandolero(3-2-0)

This is the battle of two quality young prospects fighting it out to become the future of the Bantamweight Division.  Hubble, the winner of a million dollar Bantamweight tournament comes into this fight on a two fight streak.  He is an exceptional wrestler that will look to control the fight.  A vicious ground and pounder by trade, he will be looking to get it to the deck as quick as possible.  The ‘blue bandana’ Giacoma Bandolero , the winner of one submission of the night, and one fight of the night award is nobody’s fool.  A BJJ brown belt, who is more than comfortable on the ground, could well prove to be a tricky puzzle for Hubble to solve.

Co-Main Event

(170lbs) Joey Simone(12-7-0) vs. Avraam Papadopoulos(35-23-1)

The Co-Main Event of the evening is a mouthwatering prospect.  Joey Simone is a fantastic fighter, a former Catch Wrestling Champion who has not quite converted his wrestling pedigree in to MMA just yet.  Lately his form has improved and he is riding high on a two-fight win streak.  He is a lumberjack of sorts, who prefers to chop away at his opponents legs before beating them up.  Peculiarly, for someone with a genuine first-class wrestling pedigree, he has developed an addiction to throwing down in the centre of the cage.

Avraam Papadopoulos has balls the size of Jupiter’s moons.  He has fought the top level over the last five years.  Avraam is somewhat of a decision specialist with 77% of his fights going the distance.  He tends to focus his strikes on quantity rather than quality, and with a good takedown defence to boot he represents a tenacious challenge to welcome Simone to Evolution.

Main Event

(265lbs) Tau Masunwendinghamar(12-6-0) vs. Jimmy King(10-10-3)

“The Black Terror” Tau Masunw, Masunwien, Masundwingdung, let’s just call him Tau, is a top-class boxer who has finished every opponent that he has faced.  A two-time KO of the night winner, he is certainly a fighter with dynamite in his fists.  A power puncher who is incredibly elusive in his movements is one of the best pure boxers in MMA.

When Jimmy King burst onto the MMA scene he rattled off seven straight victories and looked destined for greatness.  Since then he has gone 3-10 and ended up drawing three fights.  King is an elite level wrestler that needs to start utilising his talents and try to avoid being drawn into gunfights.

This is a classic MMA matchup.  Boxer vs. Wrestler.  Two top level fighters who will try to impose their style on each other.  No doubt Tau is a terrifying prospect, however, if King can tie him up against the cage and get him on his back the momentum will change significantly.  Personally I cannot wait for this one.

I have been winding down the org for a while now has handling contracts and matchmaking has proved to be a bit much.

I have stumbled across an idea of running a PFL format.  Leagues don't require scouting and matchmaking.  Only signings and a fixture list.  It's the only way I can see of moving forwards.

So my questions are this:  Is anybody interested in competing in a League format?

Would 18yr old new builds suffice?

It would be a 5 fight season.

Thoughts?

Evolution MMA has returned refreshed with a new approach. After much consideration, about precisely the meaning of Evolution and how it relates to MMA we have arrived at a new plan.

We will only sign 0-0 fighters. We don't want you to fight with us. We want you to evolve with us. Some clear rules:

- Debutants will only be matched with other debutants.

- Fighters are paid on a sliding pay scale that ranges from $500 to $7500 based upon the fighters performance over their last 5 fights. With each win the pay offer will rise.

- For each win(in the last 5 fights) the number of fight on the offered contract doubles. So if you have two wins, we will offer you a four fight deal.

- To remain with the company you much achieve a minimum 50% win rate.

- All fighters will be ranked by the Seventh Circle Ranking system that I developed at Iron Fist.

- Once you have fought, all fights will be offered based upon the ranking system

- Streaks v streaks, wins vs. win, losses vs losses.

- To be eligible to fight for a title you must be on a winning streak.

It's that simple. At Evolution only the strong will survive, get paid what you are worth, and no limitations on how high you can climb. Evolution - Where Champions are made.
