WFC 28: Dias v. Kadurov

02/18/2023

It’s been a long-time violence fans! Your guide to the violence, Frankie Griggs, here! Wolves FC is back with yet another exciting card of fights, this time for the MMA fans of Montreal, Quebec, Canada! Live from The Underground night club in Montreal! Wolves brings the blood thirsty crowd 10 action packed fights, 5 Main Card fights and an exciting 5 fight Prelim Card!

Let’s take a look at the 5 Main Card fights that Wolves is gracing the Montreal fight fans with!

Main Card Bout 1:

MIDDLEWEIGHT

#6 Tear Drop Drake (3-2-1MMA, 1-2-1WFC) v. #5 Jesse Kruger (3-2-1MMA, 3-1-1WFC)

Starting off our explosive Main Card is a rematch from WFC 25: Hulk v. Dude, between Tear Drop Drake and Jesse Kruger. These two last fought at WFC 25 to an incredibly close back and forth draw.

First up in the red corner is Tear Drop Drake, who found that he was getting the better of the stand up in his last exchange at WFC 25, the question is that can his stand up finish the job? Drake’s WFC career has been lackluster at best, joining the promotion when he was 2-0 in his fledgling career; he made his debut against the former champion, Andrei Balteretu at WFC 16 in a losing effort via Unanimous Decision. His next appearance in the Wolves cage was against the current number 1 contender at Middleweight: Marcus Johnson, at WFC 19 where he was unfortunately on the receiving end of a TKO in a Fight of the Night winning effort. His only Wolves win would come via the way of a 42 second KO against Pierre Moreau at WFC 22, which won him a KO of the Night. Most recently he drew against former title challenger Jesse Kruger at WFC 25 in a rather lackluster fight. He’s looking to make sure that the judges aren’t needed in this fight.

However, standing across from Drake is former title challenger Jesse Kruger. Jesse started his Wolves career at 0-1 where he made a statement in his debut at WFC 4 where he TKO’d Rob Thorton in under 3 minutes. His next fight was against current number 1 contender Marcus Johnson at WFC 9 where he TKO’d Johnson in a round of the year which only lasted 2 minutes. Jesse was next seen looking to become the youngest champion in Wolves history at WFC 15 against Jeff Lardy, where he was KO’d in 15 seconds. Looking to bounce back from the embarrassingly fast KO, Jesse came back at WFC 21, scoring himself a Submission of the Night with a cheeky triangle choke on Bobby Flay. Of course, he was most recently seen in a draw against his current opponent at WFC 25, where he’s looking to take the judges out of the equation and score himself yet another Submission of the Night this time at WFC 28.

Frankie’s Prediction: Kruger via 2nd Round Submission

Main Card Bout 2:

BANTAMWEIGHT

#3 Dylan Smith (5-2MMA, 3-2WFC) v. #5 Rikz Moon (4-2MMA, 3-2WFC)

Next up on the Main Card is an explosive Bantamweight fight between two highly ranked warriors.

First up in the red corner is my old fighter manager Dylan “Dillo” Smith, who’s proven himself to be a dangerous little fighter, all things considered. Deciding to step into Wolves after going 1-0 on the QFC scene, and scoring a 9 second KO in the inaugural event of now defunct Evolution MMA; Dylan made his debut at WFC 12 at 2-0, responding immediately to a call out from fellow Bantamweight Diego Lacasa, where the two had a Fight of the Year contender. Unfortunately Dylan was on the losing end of the decision, however he bounced back with two impressive TKO wins at WFC 15 and WFC 18 respectively and earned himself a shot at the Bantamweight king Blonde Brunson in the Main Event of WFC 21, unfortunately losing only seconds into the second round via a nasty Kimura. Dylan recently bounced back at WFC 25 with a decision victory over Naheed Fellings and is looking to continue that win streak over a very game Rikz Moon.

Standing across from him, however, is the two-time title challenger Rikz Moon who is without a doubt, no slouch, making his debut with a violent KO of Brick Bronson at WFC 9. Moon has since only lost to the current Bantamweight king, going on to win via KO against Pablo Blades at WFC 17 and via a vicious 5 second TKO of Roy Lansky at WFC 21. However, just like his losing effort against the champion at WFC 15, Moon is coming off of a losing effort against the champion at WFC 24 and is looking to bounce back from the loss with a statement win against the current 3rd ranked Bantamweight in Dylan Smith. Moon is a Bantamweight that has shown himself to have incredible power for the weight class, and he’s definitely gonna be gunning to be the first ever man to KO or TKO Smith.

Frankie’s Prediction: Moon via 3rd Round TKO

Main Card Bout 3:

VACANT LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

#3 Jeff Winslow (4-3MMA, 4-1WFC) v. #5 Adriel Nayati (4-1MMA, 3-1WFC)

Next up on the Main Card is our first of TWO title fights, and it’s for the vacant Lightweight title!

First up in the red corner is a former title challenger and WFC main stay at this point, Jeff Winslow. His only WFC loss coming by way of former champion Arman Avangyan, Winslow holds wins over Allin Trills at WFC 7, his current opponent Adriel Nayati at WFC 12, Ray Bentley at WFC 16 and Nick Mullen most recently at WFC 24. Ever since Avangyan went AWOL and abandoned the division, Winslow has had his eyes on the Lightweight strap, and who better of an opponent than someone he’s beaten before? Winslow is looking to repeat the result from WFC 12 and become the 3rd Lightweight champion in Wolves history.

However, standing across from him is a former foe, and a now much more improved one in Adriel Nayati. Adriel, joining the Wolves ranks at WFC 9 with an impressive 52 second submission of Thomas Carden, he fell short in his first matchup against Winslow in his next fight at WFC 12, but bounced back with impressive wins over Nick Mullen at WFC 15, and Khabib Nurmagomedov at WFC 24. He now has a chance to upset Winslow’s title hopes, get his only blemish fixed, and become the Lightweight champion in one go.

Frankie’s Prediction: Winslow via Decision (Unanimous)

Co-Main Event:

LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT

#2 Vito Romero (6-2MMA, 3-1WFC) v. #5 Magnus Thorgard (2-2MMA, 2-1WFC)

ITS TIME FOR OUR CO-MAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING! THIS ONE CARRYING TITLE SHOT IMPLICATIONS!

First up, in the red corner; we have the former champion Vito Romero! Vito is coming into this fight hungrier than ever, losing his title in his last fight via unanimous decision to the ever dominant and current champion Stavros Halkias. Vito made his Wolves debut at WFC 10, KOing Jack Daniels in under 3 minutes of the second round, making a statement in the Light Heavyweight division. He then went on to VIOLENTLY KO the champion at the time Matvey Allin in 41 seconds at WFC 14, going on to successfully defend the title against Johan Nilsson at WFC 19 in 20 seconds of the 1st round via a devastating KO. However his reign was cut short by former Kickboxer Stavros Halkias, whom of which Romero is looking to get a chance at by running through Magnus Thorgard first.

However, in the blue corner, Magnus Thorgard stands across from Romero. The Great Dane is one of the scariest Scandinavians on the Wolves roster, while not looking like it via record, this Dane has devastating KO power, and is an absolute menace on the ground; making him a tough nut to crack. Magnus made his Wolves debut WFC 15 against current number 1 contender Pete Price; falling short via suffocating Triangle Choke. In his next bouts he made sure to improve his grappling game, where he found himself finally getting himself a win via an impressive rear naked choke win at WFC 21 against Brayden Green; he then continued his current streak with a devastating KO of Krisp Enwah. Now he finds himself with his toughest challenge yet, and with a win over Romero; he’d definitely earn himself a title shot at the winner of WFC 29: Halkias vs Price.

Frankie’s Prediction: Thorgard via 3rd round Submission

MAIN EVENT

WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Vinny Dias (7-0MMA, 5-0WFC) v. #1 Rustam Kadurov (3-3MMA, 2-1WFC)

FINALLY, THE MAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING! THIS ONE FOR THE WELTERWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLD

First up is the champion himself, Vinny Dias. This man has been a dominating force since joining the Wolves roster and making his debut with a Submission of the Night of Derrick Gawain at WFC 6. He then went on to take the title from former champion Islam Aliyev at WFC 10 via a last second Kimura in the first round. Ever since winning the title he has gone on to defending it via submission at WFC 15 against Pookie Rogers, the defend it yet again via submission at WFC 18 against Ben Licht, then most recently via submission at WFC 22 against Wolfgang Puck. Vinny is looking to stamp himself into the hall of fame with a 4th title defence over Kadurov.

However, stepping across him and challenging him for the champions crown is Rustam Kadurov, an incredibly talented grappler in his own right who has found himself in a title opportunity against Vinny Dias. Kadurov has had a back and forth career, but with a 2-1 WFC record, he has only been improving, and greatly too. Kadurov in recent memory has shown that his grappling has become second-to-none and may actually put a hurt on the current champion in their scheduled bout, and that’s exactly what Kadurov is looking for with dominant decision victories at WFC 12 against Mark the Hammer, and WFC 24 against former title challenger Ben Licht. Kadurov may very well upset the masses in this bout.

Frankie’s Prediction: AND NEW! Kadurov via Decision (Unanimous)

PRELIMINARY BOUTS:

WELTERWEIGHT

#3 Johnny Sins (2-1MMA, 1-0WFC) v. #5 Ben Licht (4-3MMA, 3-3WFC)

LIGHT-HEAVYWEIGHT

#9 Joel Sikoa (1-1MMA, 1-1WFC) v. Brayden Green (4-5MMA, 3-3WFC)

LIGHTWEIGHT

#9 Nick Mullen (3-3MMA, 3-3WFC) v. Tiago Tomate (0-0MMA, 0-0WFC)

BANTAMWEIGHT

#9 Billy Graham (2-0MMA, 0-0WFC) v. Naheed Fellings (4-3MMA, 1-2WFC)

BANTAMWEIGHT

WFC 37: Hopson v Sidorov

04/22/2023

It’s been a long-time violence fans! Your guide to the violence, Frankie Griggs, here! Wolves FC is back with yet another exciting card of fights, this time for the MMA fans of Montreal, Quebec, Canada! Live from Hayashi’s Lounge in Montreal! Wolves brings the blood thirsty crowd 9 action packed fights, 5 Main Card fights and an exciting 4 fight Preliminary Card!

Let’s take a look at the 5 Main Card fights that Wolves is gracing the Montreal fight fans with!

Main Card Bout 1:

MIDDLEWEIGHT

Chaz Popizicki (5-2 MMA, 2-0 WFC) v. Ngozi Chai (2-0 MMA, 1-0 WFC)

Starting off this absolutely STACKED main card is 1 of 3 Middleweight bouts on the main card, this one between two blazing prospects!

First up in the red corner is surging Middleweight prospect: Chaz Popizicki. The Omaha native made his debut in August of 2022 where he made quick work of fellow debutant; Luo Fang with a first round Kimura at a local regional show. This win earned him a contact with EMPIRE FC where he made his promotional debut against promising grappler Tai Kina at EMPIRE FN 10 where he scored a slick Triangle that earned him a submission of the night bonus. His next promotional fight was at EMPIRE FN 11 where he had a quick turn around, fighting twice in one month; unfortunately, he was caught with a vicious head kick that put his lights out early in round number 1. After this he left the now defunct EMPIRE promotion and moved on to IC&E Championships where he made a statement in his promotional debut with an arm-triangle choke in the final 2 seconds of the first round at ICE 6, this win earning him a title shot at ICE 9, where he fought 3 hard rounds against ICE champion Danila Bagrov, suffering a brutal TKO in the first 2 minutes of the 3rd round. After this loss, and the fall of IC&E, he moved on to Wolves, where he made his debut at WFC 32; upsetting the oddsmakers by beating Pierre Moreau via 1st round TKO, and repeating that result at WFC 34, TKOing Noel Reine in much faster time. He looks to continue the surging win streak against Ngozi Chai; hoping to utilize his far superior grappling to score him yet another win, and get himself close to a Middleweight title shot!

However, in the blue corner is no slouch AND an absolute monster of a Kickboxer in Ngozi Chai. Ngozi is from the beautiful city of Lagos, Nigeria and comes from wealthy parents that enrolled him in some of the best kickboxing lessons that money could afford at the age of 18. He was found to excel in the sport and learn rather fast, making his kickboxing debut at a Local London regional show, fighting in a unique 1 round fight where he completely out-struck his opponent to win a lopsided unanimous decision. After this fight, Chai took considerable time off and decided to make a move to MMA where he made his debut at Welterweight at a Regional Show in London, winning by a devastating 24 second KO. This KO earned him a contract with Wolves, where he made yet another statement in his debut at WFC 31, scoring a KO of the night over Sayten Thursar in just 35 seconds. Chai is looking to repeat the result at WFC 37, solidifying himself as a top contender at Welterweight.

Frankie’s Prediction: Ngozi Chai via KO (Round 2)

Main Card Bout 2:

MIDDLEWEIGHT

Jacob Hopson (7-2 MMA, 6-1 WFC) v. Marcus Johnson (6-2 MMA, 5-2 WFC)

Next up on the Main Card is yet another explosive Middleweight Matchup, and a heated rematch with title shot implications!

First up in the Red Corner is one of the many Hopson family members on the roster and a Wolves FC mainstay in Jacob Hopson. This kid is only 21 years old and has already amassed an impressive 7-2 MMA record and has only 1 loss in 7 fights with Wolves which is to the man standing across from him. Jacob started his MMA career at 18 at a QFC Regional Show in Sydney and his first ever opponent was not an easy one. He was paired up against the EMPIRE FC and HFC Middleweight Champion, Giovanni De Rossi in what was De Rossi’s second ever fight. Jacob lost the fight by Guillotine in 26 seconds, but after that loss became reinvigorated and went on a 4-fight tear that started with a dominant decision win over Ronan Osulivan that earned him a Wolves FC contract. From there he made his WFC debut in impressive style: TKOing Mark Hunt in 2 rounds in an absolute clinic at WFC 3. His next fight would come at WFC 8 where he scored a Head Kick TKO over David Brenda that earned him his first KO of the night bonus, he would return a month and a half later at WFC 14 against Rob Thornton in yet another Unanimous Decision clinic. His next fight would come against Marcus Johnson, the man who stands across from him today, at WFC 22. Both guys would brawl back and forth but unfortunately for Jacob, Marcus Johnson would get the judges nod and win via a close 29-28 unanimous decision. Jacob went back to the drawing board after this loss and scored a spectacular KO over Antonio Williston at WFC 27, which then followed with two spectacular fight of the night wins over Tear Drop Drake and Chris Maurelli at WFC’s 31 and 37 respectively. He looks to get the one Wolves loss back against Marcus Johnson, hoping to leave the judges out of the equation this time around.

In the blue corner however is the man that holds a win over the popular Hopson clan member, Marcus Johnson. Marcus is a wonderful boxer and athlete that holds an incredible 6-2 MMA record for a 20-year-old. Starting his MMA career at the ripe young age of 18 at a QFC Regional Show in Las Vegas, making his debut in impressive fashion where he went the distance against 25-year-old Carlos Antigas Arlandez and won the judge’s nod. This impressive showing earned him a Wolves FC contract which saw him making his promotional debut at WFC 9 against Jesse Kruger in a fight of the night showing that saw him on the wrong side of a TKO. This loss forced him back in the gym and to the drawing board, where he returned at WFC 13 against David Brenda and completely out struck and out-classed Brenda all 3 rounds. His next Wolves fight would come against Tear Drop Drake at WFC 19 where after 3 hard fought rounds he’d score a beautiful TKO over Drake that earned both warriors a fight of the night bonus. Hoping to continue the win streak, Marcus entered the Jacob Hopson fight at WFC 22 with a newfound confidence; where he managed to rally back after a rough first round to earn the judge’s scorecard and earn himself a 29-28 win over the Hopson prospect. This fight earned him his first Main Event against Jesse Kruger at WFC 26, where the headline pressure and the bright lights had no effect on Marcus, the young boxer scoring an impressive TKO over a favoured Kruger. This fight earned him his second Main Event and first title shot against Jaimie Hopson at WFC 30, being completely out classed by Jaimie and losing via unanimous decision. Kruger wanted a rematch, and so he got his wish at WFC 34; where he yet again got the win over Kruger but this time via the judge’s nod. Now he looks to win another rematch against Jacob Hopson, the question is: can he repeat the result? Or is the new and improved Jacob going to be a problem?

Frankie’s Prediction: Jacob Hopson via Unanimous Decision

Main Card Bout 3:

LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Adriel Nayati (6-1 MMA, 5-1 WFC) v. Tiago Tomate (2-0 MMA, 2-0 WFC)

Next up is first of the two title fights! Adriel Nayati looking to make another defense of his Wolves 155 belt, but this time a young and tenacious prospect looks to spoil the plans.

First up in the champions corner, the champion Adriel Nayati of course! Adriel is an all-star grappler with incredible wrestling and slick BJJ to complement it. Adriel made his MMA debut at a Local Show in Hilo called “Testicular Cancer”, must be some sort of charity event or something; his opponent was a man with the Alias: “Test Two” where he scored a 1 round decision over Two, this showing earning himself a Wolves contract where he got to compete in his first genuine fight. He made his promotional debut at WFC 9 against Thomas Carden where he scored himself a submission of the night, popping Cardens shoulder out of place with a slick 52 second Kimura. His next fight came at WFC 12 against Jeff Winslow where he got caught in a triangle in under a minute of the first round. Disappointed with this loss, he went back and worked on more of his defensive grappling and other areas of the game, returning at WFC 15 against Nick Mullen where he out paced and out grappled Mullen, catching Mullen in a Guillotine 90 seconds into the 3rd round. His next fight would come against Khabib Nurmagomedov at WFC 24, where he would make quick work of the Dagestani by TKO in the 1st round. This fight earned him a shot at the Vacant title and the only man to beat him to date: Jeff Winslow, at WFC 28. After 4 rounds of war, Adriel TKO’d Winslow 40 seconds into the 5th round, both men earning fight of the night honours for this fight. Adriel made his first title defense against Thomas Carden, going 4 rounds with him, finishing him mid way through the 4th via an impressive rear naked choke, earning a submission of the night bonus. Adriel is looking to make it 2 title defenses, however Tomate is a game challenger, and as tough as they come.

The challenger, Tiago Tomate, is a prodigy in the making. While only having 2 fights, Tiago has proven to be one of the most athletic, and well-rounded fighters on the Wolves roster currently. His wrestling is his bread and butter, but every area of the game is impressive and on point. Tiago made his MMA debut earlier this year at the age of 21, after years of vigorous training. His debut came against Nick Mullen at WFC 28 where he completely dominated Nick Mullen for the nearly 4 minutes it took before the TKO stoppage. His next fight would come against former title challenger Jeff Winslow where he would completely out pace and out-class Winslow in every aspect of the game before finally putting Winslow out of his misery 28 seconds into the 2nd round. This brutal performance earned him his shot at Nayati which he hopes to shock the masses and completely out-class the champion. However, Nayati is an absolutely world-class grappler and no slouch on the feet as well.

Frankie’s Prediction: AND STILL!! Nayati via Submission (Round 5)

Co-Main Event:

BANTAMWEIGHT

Blonde Brunson (8-4 MMA, 7-3 WFC) v. Volodomir Borrisinov (3-1 MMA, 2-1 WFC)

ITS TIME FOR OUR CO-MAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING! THIS ONE BETWEEN A HOT PROSPECT AND A FORMER CHAMPION!!

First up in the red corner is the former 6x Wolves FC Bantamweight Champion and the inaugural WFC Bantamweight Champion, Blonde Brunson! Brunson has been a fan favourite of Wolves fans since his title win over Hayden Allen. Brunson made his MMA debut against Rowan Atkinson at a QFC Regional Show in London where he won the fight via a brutal Kimura in under 2 minutes, his next fight came at yet another Regional London show where he would lose in the 1st round via the same way he won his debut. Despite this setback, his manager was able to negotiate a contract for Wolves FC’s newly opening Bantamweight division and shortly after that he was booked to make his promotional debut against Carlos Pereira at WFC 3, winning the fight via an impressive kimura that earned him a bonus for his troubles. His next fight was the first of two fights against Hayden Allen where he was caught in an armbar BUT didn’t tap, yet the ref stopped the fight in the 2nd round. This warranted a rematch at WFC 12, this time however it was for the inaugural Bantamweight title. After 2 hard fought rounds, Brunson caught Allen in an Arm Triangle that forced a legitimate tap this time, earning himself the Bantamweight title. His first title defense would come against Rikz Moon at WFC 15, making quick work of Moon by submitting Moon in the 1st round. Moving onto his next title defense he faced surging striker and CURRENT WFC Bantamweight champion Diego Lacasa at WFC 17 in Brunson’s first Main Event. He would make quick work of Lacasa as well, submitting him in round 1, but this wouldn’t be the only time they face off. Brunson’s next defence would come at WFC 21 against Dylan Smith, after eating some good punches in the first round, Brunson would rally back to win the first round and submit Smith in 47 seconds of the second round. His next defense was a rematch against Rikz Moon in the Co-Main event of WFC 24 and once again made quick work of Moon in the 1st round. At this point it looked like Brunson was unstoppable, that was until his rematch against Diego Lacasa at WFC 27. For 5 rounds Lacasa beat the brakes off Brunson, until the final 30 seconds of the 5th round Brunson managed to pull guard and submit Lacasa with a Hail Mary guillotine choke. This would be Brunson’s last title defense as Hiroshi Gomi would shock the masses at WFC 31 and TKO the heavily favoured Brunson in 35 seconds of round 2, after nullifying the champions ground game in the first. His next fight would come against Tadahiro Nomura at WFC 34, where he would suffer a 68 second TKO. Brunson is looking to finally get out of a 2-fight slump and start his journey back to the title.

However, across from him in the blue corner is a world-class grappler in his own right, and a surging prospect coming out of a camp of elite fighters and champions, Volodimir Borrisinov. Borrisinov is a Ukrainian born fighter from the outskirts of Pripyat, Ukraine. Born into harsh conditions already with the Ukrainian environment and the lingering radiation from 1986’s Chernobyl nuclear disaster, Volodimir moved to Australia when he turned 18 to further his MMA training and to get a feel of a much harsher environment, the Australian Outback! Volodimir made his MMA debut at a QFC Regional Show in Sydney, completely dominating an out-classed Ralphie Boy for over 3 minutes before he finished him via a vicious TKO. Volodimir wouldn’t fight for over 2 and a half months, signing a Wolves FC contract in that time and finally making his promotional debut against Jari Sillanpaa at WFC 26, disposing of Jari in the first round in the same amount of time and the same way he won his MMA debut. However, at this time he was training in Montreal for a short period of time with the De Rossi’s sharpening up his grappling. His next fight would come against Eric Fasset at WFC 30, dominating Eric all 3 round to earn a Unanimous Decision victory. This earned him a top contender spot fight against Peter Dinklage, losing via first round KO. After suffering his first loss, Borrisinov has returned to his former fight camp and is looking to get back into the win column, and with a win over the former champion he could very well skyrocket himself into potential title contention.

Frankie’s Prediction: Borrisinov via Unanimous Decision

MAIN EVENT

MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Jaimie Hopson (9-2 MMA, 4-0 WFC) v. Ivan Sidorov (10-0 MMA, WFC DEBUT)

FINALLY, THE MAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING! THIS ONE FOR THE MIDDLEWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP OF THE WORLD! This one has some heat behind this match up! This stems from a buzz beef from a couple months ago where The Alpha Wolf called out Sidorov’s family member Boryenka Stepanov on Buzz for being a “bum” and challenging him to a fight, to which Boryenka made a valid point that he was already in a fight tournament; to which Ivan decided to step in and take The Alpha Wolf’s challenge. Ever since then the two have been going back and forth and the heat between these two is at a nuclear level!

First up is the champion, the man himself: “THE ALPHA WOLF” Jaimie Hopson!! This man has been everywhere from EMPIRE, and now Wolves! Hopson made his MMA debut at the age of 25 against Pedro Navarro at a QFC Regional Show in Sydney where he made an impression with a 67 second TKO, he had a quick 6 day turnaround at another QFC Regional Show in Sydney against Donald Weaver where yet again he made a statement with a 73 second TKO. This time he decided that 3 days was enough to recover and took another Regional fight against ace grappler Ethan Gracie, where unfortunately he was caught in a Triangle choke after 2 rounds of Jaimie beating the brakes off of Ethan. This loss ignited a fire under Jaimie’s ass, Jaimie’s manager signing him a contract to EMPIRE FC where in his debut he brutalized Kajulik Van Dorner for 88 seconds before the ref had seen enough. His next fight would come at EMPIRE 15 where he landed a vicious 29 second KO on Marcus Bloomer in the second round, earning him a title elimination fight against Matto Hyrra where he was TKO’d in the final seconds of the 1st round. After he loss he wanted to get his only regional loss back when he fought Ethan Gracie at EMPIRE FN 12 where he KO’d Gracie in 32 seconds. Empire would eventually close its doors, where he earned a Wolves FC contract and made his promotional debut against Manny Paiwia, knocking out Manny in 19 seconds flat and making a statement in his Wolves debut. This earned him a shot at Striker Jackson and his Middleweight title at WFC 24, where he was favoured to lose against Jackson, but he completely out-classed Jackson in all 5 rounds and stole Jacksons title away. His first title defense was against “The Hospon Killer” Marcus Johnson at WFC 30 where he yet again out-classed Johnson and completely dominated all 5 rounds for a successful title defence. Most recently he had a rematch with Striker Jackson at WFC 33 where after 2 rounds, he landed a crisp combo to KO the former champion out cold, where he called out Stepanov and Sidorov after the knockout. He’s looking to be the first man to stop Ivan Sidorov.

Ivan Sidorov however is looking for a different outcome. The 10-0 monster is undefeated on the regional scene and in HFC and is looking to make his Wolves promotional debut by taking The Alpha Wolfs title. Sidorov is a Russian born fighter, born in Kaluga. He made his MMA debut at 25 when he TKO’d 18-year-old Boon Nam Anurak in 51 seconds. This followed with 4 more 1st round TKO’s all within 2 minutes, which earned him a contract with 300 FC, only fighting there for 1 fight; he made his debut against Ryu Takahara, finishing the fight in 90 seconds in the first round. He then earned an HFC contract where he went 4-0 with all 1st round TKO’s and came close to challenging for the title, some say he that was the planned fight; Ivan chose to not resign with HFC instead and decided to accept The Alpha Wolfs challenge, making his Wolves debut for the coveted Middleweight title. Can Ivan utilize his suffocating wrestling and score another TKO? We’ll see if he can do what other Wolves contenders couldn’t.

Frankie’s Prediction: AND STILL!! Jaimie Hopson via KO (Round 2)

  • WFC 38: Hulk v Thorgard III

    04/29/23

It’s a pleasure to see all of you violence fans! Your guide to the violence, Frankie Griggs, here! Wolves FC is back with yet another exciting card of fights, this time for the MMA fans of Montreal, Quebec, Canada! Live from Hayashi’s Lounge in Montreal! Wolves brings the blood thirsty crowd 10 action packed fights, 5 Main Card fights and an exciting 5 fight Preliminary Card!

Let’s take a look at the 5 Main Card fights that Wolves is gracing the Montreal fight fans with!

    Main Card Bout 1:

    WELTERWEIGHT

    #2 Rustam Kadurov (5-4 MMA, 4-2 WFC) v. #3 Benjamin Walton (3-2 MMA, 1-0 WFC)

First up on the Main Card is a top contender fight between two surging Welterweight warriors!

First up in the red corner is the 2nd Ranked Wolves Welterweight Rustam Kadurov! This man is a former title challenger and an all-star wrestler from the rough region of Chechnya, his rough environment shaped him into an absolute monster of a wrestler. Making his MMA debut at the age of 18 he fell victim to a 34 second KO in a local Russian QFC show. His manager secured him a contract to now-defunct Combate Contenders, where he lost his promotional debut via TKO at CC1 in the 2nd round to Abuaballadai Ojidemenzi. After this loss, Kadurov and his team were determined to fix all the issues he had in his game and secure his first professional win, which is what happened at CC2 when he dominated Bruce Franklin 2 minutes before, sinking in a choke 2 minutes and 43 seconds into the first round. Combate Contenders would close and WFC would sign the promising wrestler. He would make his Wolves debut against Mark the Hammer, fighting back and forth for 3 rounds before he secured the judges nod via a 29-28 scorecard. His next fight would be a title eliminator against ace grappler Alexei Sykov, where he would be out grappled for 2/3 rounds, rallying back in the 3rd but unfortunately it was too little too late as Sykov secured the judges nod via a 29-28 scorecard. His next fight would come against Ben Licht in what was supposedly another title eliminator, this time securing the win over Licht with a complete 3 round domination. However, his title fight would prove to put another negative notch on his record as he lost his title fight against Vinny Dias at WFC 28 via a 3rd round armbar. Reinvigorated after the title loss, Kadurov has been on a 2-fight tear with wins over Ridley Scott and Derrick Gawain at WFC 32 and WFC 35 respectively. Kadurov is looking to make it 3 and solidify himself for a second crack at Vinny’s crown. However, the man in his way is no slouch.

In the blue corner is the 3rd ranked Wolves Welterweight, Benjamin Walton. Walton is a Muay Thai master who made his MMA debut at the age of 18, winning via unanimous decision. He would enroll in Winter Warfare where he would lose his first-round fight against Todd Garlind via first round armbar, however in the losers round he would score himself a vicious 38 second head kick KO that would earn him KO of the night honours, and keep his tournament hopes alive! However, his tournament hopes would be cut short when Azad Bekzod TKO’d him in the final 33 seconds of round 1. This would kick him out of the tournament AND cause his management to drop him, however manager Kurtis Hugs took a chance on him and scored him a Wolves contract where he completely dominated Ridley Scott for 3 rounds in his WFC debut at WFC 35. He’s looking to continue that streak and score himself a win over the top contender, and he’s hoping to leave the judges out of the equation.

Frankie’s Prediction: Kadurov via Unanimous Decision

    Main Card Bout 2:

    LIGHTWEIGHT

    #1 Thomas Carden (6-5 MMA, 5-5 WFC) v. #4 Nick Mullen (4-4 MMA, 4-4 WFC)

Next up on the stacked Main Card is a top contender bout between two blazing Lightweights and WFC mainstays!

First up in the red corner is the number 1 Wolves Lightweight contender in the world, Thomas Carden! The Jacksonville native has been on a tear recently but has had a rather wishy-washy MMA career thus-far. However, it seems he’s finally hitting his stride, and in his 12th fight, looks to earn himself another shot at the title with a win over 4th ranked Nick Mullen. Thomas made his MMA debut at the age of 20 at a QFC Regional Show in LA, demolishing 18-year-old Yawa Kiang via a second round TKO; this win earning him a Wolves contract. He made his promotional debut at WFC 4 against Eiji Oda, losing via a first-round armbar. He would go on to lose his next 3 fights against current champion Adriel Nayati, Allin Trills, and Ty Little. On the verge of losing his Wolves contract, Thomas went back to the drawing board, improving every aspect of his game. He would return to action on Christmas Eve against Helio Machado at WFC 20 via a violent 2nd round TKO. He would go on to win his next three fights against Bishop Alexander, former foe Ailin Trills, and surging prospect Jaxon Williams; all of which earned him a shot at the current champion, and a second chance to beat one of the men who beat him in WFC. He lost this fight after 4 hard fought rounds, falling via sneaky Rear-Naked-Choke near the end of the round. He recently won his comeback fight at WFC 36 against Jeff Winslow and is looking to earn another shot at Nayati.

However, Nick Mullen is a former high school wrestler and ace-grappler from Baltimore, Maryland. Nick has been a mainstay of Wolves FC since his MMA debut at 18 against 5th ranked Wolves Lightweight, Ty Little, at WFC 2. After a hard-fought round, Nick Mullen secured a slick triangle choke in the final minute of round 1 to win his MMA debut in style. His next fight would come at WFC 6 against hot prospect Gregory Rodriguez, making quick work of the ace Brazilian via another triangle choke in under 2 minutes, this fight earning himself a title shot. His shot at the belt came against Arman Avangyan at WFC 12, where the two squared off for the inaugural Lightweight title, Nick losing via an unfortunate TKO. His next fight would come at WFC 15 against the current Lightweight champion, Adriel Nayati, where after 2 hard fought rounds between both guys, Nayati would secure the fight-ending guillotine choke in under 2 minutes of the final round, upsetting Mullens dream to get a second crack at Avangyan. Mullen would pick up a win over Ailin Trills by the way of a dominant 30-27 Unanimous Decision at WFC 19. He would rush into action, returning against the always tough Jeff Winslow at WFC 24, surviving a tough first round only to be TKO’d 10 seconds into the second round. He would jump back into action quickly against surging prospect Tiago Tomate at WFC 28, losing that fight via a vicious TKO in the very first round. This string of losses causing him to go back to the drawing board and work on weaker aspects of his game. He eventually returned at WFC 35 against Devon Black, dominating his way to a nearly one-side 29-28 Unanimous Decision. With a win over Carden, he hopes to get back into the title picture and get one back on Adriel Nayati. We’ll see if Mullens grappling is the kryptonite to Cardens tough country boy style, or if Carden can tough out a decision victory as he always does.

Frankie’s Prediction: Nick Mullen via 3rd round Submission

    Main Card Bout 3:

    WELTERWEIGHT

    #1 Shahriyar Chai (6-3 MMA, 0-1 WFC) v. Ridley Scott (3-6 MMA, 3-5 WFC)

Next up on the Main Card is a bout between the number 1 contender in the world, and an always active and always tough Welterweight mainstay.

First up, in the red corner, is the number 1 Wolves welterweight contender in the world, Shahriyar Chai! An Iranian national wrestler, Chai’s pro combat sports debut came at a Local Show in London in a special one round fight against Russian Kickboxer Oleg Chai. After the fight there was rumours of Shahriyar taking a dive, and after 2 full months of dealing with rumours, his MMA debut would come at HFC 26 where he would beat Duke Babaganush via a Unanimous Decision that some saw as controversial, so HFC remade the matchup at HFC 34, where this time Chai didn’t need the judges when he completely demolished Babaganush via TKO in the very first round. He would taste his first defeat in the Main Event of HFC 41 against Kaimana Makani via a very one-sided unanimous decision. This loss lit a fire under his ass, where in his next bout he would out strike and completely clobber Peter Tham in a one-sided unanimous decision at HFC 49. This wouldn’t last long, as he would suffer yet another unanimous decision defeat at the hands of Saurabh Pendaya at HFC 56. He would rework himself after this loss and start a 3-win tear that saw himself score a TKO and KO over Jerome Tucker and Soren Hansen at HFC 62 and 67 respectively, and a TKO win over Nick Peterson at SCRAP 5. After SCRAP folded, Chai would make his Wolves debut for the title against the man himself, Vinny Dias at WFC 36. Dias would make quick work surprisingly. Out grappling Chai in under 3 minutes of the first round. Chai is looking to get back into title contention, and right that wrong with an “easy” win over Ridley Scott, however Scott is no slouch.

In the blue corner is Wolves mainstay Ridley Scott. This guy has fought anyone and everyone in the welterweight division that has ever been in the top of the division (Sidorov and Boryenka, take notes). Don’t let his 3-6 record fool you, he’s only ever fought tough competition inside the Wolves FC cage. Scott made his MMA debut at a QFC regional show in Las Vegas against experienced grappler Jacques Laurent, losing via TKO in 3rd round. Despite this loss, he earned a contract to fight in Wolves FC’s growing Welterweight division and quickly made his debut at WFC 2 against Darwin Underwood, destroying Underwood in under 2 minutes of the very first round via TKO. His next fight would come at WFC 7 against surging welterweight prospect and ace grappler, Alexei Sykov. Scott would get caught in an anaconda choke in the first 3 minutes of the first round, forcing him to tap. His next fight was at WFC 10 against the top contender Ben Licht, the two going to war back and forth, Scott would come up short when it came to the judge’s scorecards, losing a split decision. This fight would earn him Fight of the Night honours. His next fight would come at WFC 18 against ace grappler Reggie Charles, where he would dominate to a unanimous decision victory, finally getting himself out of the slump he was in. He would jump in rather quickly, getting two fights in one month when he returned against Mark The Hammer at WFC 20, losing via first round rear naked choke. After making this mistake, Scott would take time off and return to action at WFC 26 against Derrick Gawain, TKO’ing him violently in 55 seconds. His next fight would be a top contender spot fight against Rustam Kadurov at WFC 32, falling short via the judges scorecards, and yet again doing the same at WFC 35 against Benjamin Walton. Scott his looking to upset the oddsmakers and get himself out of yet another slump, potentially earning a ranked spot with a win over the number 1 contender.

Frankie’s Prediction: Shahriyar Chai via Unanimous Decision

    Co-Main Event:

    BANTAMWEIGHT

    #3 Hiroshi Gomi (5-5 MMA, 4-2 WFC) v. #5 Dragon Li Chai (4-3 MMA, 1-0 WFC)

ITS TIME FOR OUR CO-MAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING! THIS ONE BETWEEN AN UPCOMING CONTENDER AND A FORMER CHAMPION!!

First up, in the red corner is the former Wolves FC Bantamweight Champion of the world, Hiroshi Gomi! Hiroshi is a Japanese-born, Canadian-raised monster with a very unassuming 5-5 MMA record. Hiroshi had his first taste of competitive combat sports when he picked up Boxing at the age of 13. He excelled quickly at the sport and had natural power, amassing an amateur record of 53-2 until the age of 18 where he made the transition to MMA after years of watching JMMA and regional Canadian cards. He made his debut in MMA in the Big Wave MMA 135 Grand Prix, losing his first fight via a one-sided unanimous decision against Joseph Kuruvila that showed off his heart and granite chin. His next fight would be at Big Wave 13 against Ryan Steinbeck, losing via yet another Unanimous Decision. His final fight with Big Wave MMA would be against current Wolves Bantamweight Detritus Rubble, losing in the third round via TKO. Deciding to stay active Hiroshi fought Lee Shayworth at QFC regional show ran in Montreal at his home gym, Dillos Deadly Dojo. He won the fight via TKO in the first round, finally winning his first fight, and earning himself a Wolves FC contract. His first promotional fight would come at WFC 16 against Brick Bronson, where he would make quick work of Bronson, finishing him in under 2 minutes via a violent TKO. On a 2-fight win streak, Hiroshi would be confident coming into his bout against Carlos Pereira at WFC 20, and he was right to do so as he scored yet another first round TKO and earned himself a title eliminator bout against long-time friendly rival and current Wolves FC Bantamweight Champion Diego Lacasa at WFC 22. These two started in the Big Wave 135 Grand Prix together, and thought they’d eventually face each other, and so at WFC 22, they did, and went to war in a Fight of the Year contender that saw Hiroshi get out struck on the way to a 30-27 unanimous decision defeat. The loss didn’t hurt his confidence however, as Hiroshi just went back to the drawing board and stepped back into action at WFC 26 against top contender Marian Herzog, finishing the fight in the first round via a nasty TKO, this fight earned him a shot at the champion of the time, Blonde Brunson in the Main Event of WFC 31. Going into the fight with Brunson, Hiroshi was being counted out by nearly every pundit and expert of the sport, which just made the upset TKO he scored on Brunson to take his title that much sweeter. Hiroshi would neutralize the champions grappling and utilize his reach to piece up the champion and eventually finish him via TKO 34 seconds into the second round. Hiroshi would be scheduled to make his first title defence against Diego Lacasa at WFC 35, where once again the two put on a show for the ages, Lacasa getting the better of the 5 rounds on the judges scorecards. Hiroshi is looking to get back into winning form and to upset the oddsmakers once again with a win over Dragon Li Chai, as he is a +130 underdog, the biggest on the card.

However, in the blue corner is Dragon Li Chai, and he’s absolutely no slouch in any way. A phenomenal Muay-Thai practitioner, Chai made his debut at a Local Show in London, losing a 1 round decision in Kickboxing before he finally made his MMA debut, signing a contract with HFC to do so. His first fight in MMA and with the promotion would come at HFC 32 against Gen Block where he would find himself on the unfortunate end of a unanimous decision. Despite the loss in his debut, he would rally back at HFC 41 and 49, defeating Zigor Azarola and Morello Hawthorne by Unanimous Decision to start himself a nifty little win streak. However, this wouldn’t last long as he would fall to a unanimous decision at HFC 57 against John Smith, and then he would be on the bad side of a TKO at HFC 66 by the hands of Omar Brown. He would choose to not resign with HFC and instead take a local QFC fight against Fyodor Pending, TKO’ing Fyodor in 43 seconds, making a statement that earned him a Wolves contract. His Wolves debut came at WFC 33 against Detritus Rubble in an instant Fight of the Night classic that saw Chai on the right side of a judges Split Decision. He hopes to earn a title shot by beating the former champion, Hiroshi Gomi. However, Gomi’s no slouch and has the heart of a lion, and the power to put anyone out at moments notice. We’ll see if Chai’s overwhelming skill can prevail this time.

Frankie’s Prediction: Dragon Li Chai via Majority Decision

    MAIN EVENT

    VACANT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

    #3 Iranian Hulk (6-3 MMA, 6-2 WFC) v. #1 Alexei Thorgard (7-2 MMA, 6-2 WFC)

FINALLY, THE MAIN EVENT OF THE EVENING! These two have history and are 1-1 a piece in this series. This is the second time these two are fighting for a title, and this time one of these guys has a chance to put a stamp on the series and put it to a definitive end.

First up, in the red corner is the former Wolves FC Heavyweight Champion Iranian Hulk! A world-class grappler, Hulk made his MMA debut at a local QFC show in Iran against Marquis Chriss, losing via Unanimous Decision. However, Wolves needed Heavyweight bodies for their heavyweight division, and so Hulk signed a contract to Wolves, making his promotional debut at WFC 7 against Jay Howard II, completely dominating and obliterating Howard by TKO in under 3 minutes of the first round making a statement in his debut. His next fight came at WFC 12 against John Dickweed, Hulk making incredibly quick work of Dickweed via a 47 second armbar. Coming out of the fight unharmed he would jump back into action at WFC 16, submitting Robert Heredia via an Arm Triangle in under 2 minutes. This would earn him his first fight against Thorgard for the inaugural heavyweight championship at WFC 19. He would out grapple and submit Thorgard in the first round via Triangle, winning the Heavyweight championship as a reward. His first defence would come at WFC 23, where he would submit Franklin Shark in 31 seconds via a nasty Kimura. His short reign would come to an end when Heavy Dude KO’d Hulk in under 3 minutes of the first round in the main event of WFC 25 in only his second defence. He would face Thorgard once again in a title eliminator at WFC 32 where this time after a rather back and forth first round, Thorgard clipped Hulk with a perfect punch to put him out cold in the second round. With this loss he was looking to stay in top contender contention, his next fight coming against surging prospect Bronze Bomber Chai where he submitted the young Chai in the very first round via a sneaky armbar. He’s looking to put an end to his series with Thorgard and become Heavyweight champ all at the same time.

However, in the blue corner is an animal in Alexei Thorgard. The Danish wrestler with hands of stone made his MMA debut at the ripe age of 18 against Yulian Duric at a local QFC show in Denmark, winning and just dominating the whole fight via unanimous decision. This impressive showing earned him a Wolves contract where he would make his Wolves debut in emphatic fashion with a 22 second KO of Buzz Williams that earned him a KO of the night on his first fight. He would go on to beat former champion Heavy Dude via a controversial cut stoppage at WFC 8, which would start a bit of a feud with the two. He then went on to KO Franklin Shark at WFC 15 to earn himself a shot at the inaugural Heavyweight Championship. He would be submitted by triangle choke in the first round at WFC 19, not being happy about the stoppage as he claimed he did not tap. This caused a feud between the two that spanned across Buzz. He would get a win back when he KO’d Trebor Gautier via a vicious combo in under 2 minutes of the first round, this fight earning him a second shot at the title. His second shot would come at WFC 29 where he would be TKO’d in the first round in under 2 minutes, after eating a shot that snuck through his guard and had him on wobbly legs, he ate too many shots and ref had seen enough, evening his series with Heavy Dude. He would face Iranian Hulk at WFC 32, this time getting the better of Hulk after a back and forth first round, catching Hulk with a perfectly placed punch to put his light out cold. This earned him fight of the night as the two went to war for the 2 rounds it lasted. His most recent fight came against Deepi White at WFC 35 where he viciously TKO’d White in the final 5 seconds of round number 1. Now he’s looking to put a stamp on his feud with Hulk and looking to repeat their most recent result. The question is, who wants it more?

Frankie’s Prediction: Alexei Thorgard via KO
