  1. Most FAs are stripped of their funds to $3000 upon becoming FA, and managers can only drop fighters to make room for FAs every 15 days (30 for non VIP). How much more regulation do you want? As long as there are FAs with money, it is going to happen, regardless of how much "regulation" is implemented.

  2. paid probly $1000 into playstation games over the years. play'em for a minute and then let'em collect dust. paid a fraction of that into this game and it's the first thing i check in the mornings, the first thing i check when i get home, and the last thing i do before i go to bed. this game is truly something special

  3. Hey, first off, I don't think me offering this as a startup org means buying manager's VIPs is going to become commonplace, by any stretch of the imagination. Secondly, this isn't necessarily something I am offering from here until the end of time. It's just a perk to get things started and draw up some interst and to help fill out a roster. That being said, I am committed to it for the forseeable future (I'm not saying the program will drop dead as soon as I get a roster). I hope it gets people in the door and gets them addicted to this game, which in the long term is good for everyone involved. It will create more VIPs, who can in turn create more fighters and they obviously aren't going to have every single fighter in MLC, so it's better for all. My plan isn't to become the financial supporter for every single person who can't afford VIP, but if I can spend a bit of money every month to get someone who has potential to be a diehard and long-term manager in both my org and in MMA Tycoon, I see that a positive for the community and honestly, the amount of time I spend on this game, I think Mike deserves the extra money! I really don't think it will negatively impact other orgs by any stretch.

  7. +0.5(I am pretty neutral about this), not hard to implement IMO(aside from the AI of SHIG, that is one hell of a pain to code I think) Three sliders: Strike Type A --------------|-------------- B Strike A Setting Power --------------|-------------- Accuracy Strike B Setting Power --------------|-------------- Accuracy Now I think you don't throw the same damage throughout the entire game as long as you go SHIG. Hence, intelligence is useful. If this is implemented, then the pro of high intelligence is decreased, which is the only part I don't like about this.

  8. Welcome to Maple Leaf Combat, Montreal's newest fight org! Click here for link to org! http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1306727182MLC_logo_sample_1.jpg After several weeks of brainstorming and researching and asking questions of experienced org owners, I've decided to venture out into the world of running an org. Contracts will soon be going out, but I just wanted to give the Tycoon world a little taste of some of what this new org will be offering. So why should you come join Maple Leaf Combat? Here's just a taste of what I hope will make this org one of the most immersive and enjoyable out there for both rookies and veterans alike: MLC-er of the month award Of course, being a new org, it is likely going to attract a lot of new managers, a lot of whom will be non-VIP players. We can all attest that Tycoon is a great game and is made even better by being a VIP, so each month I will be picking a non-VIP member of the org and buying them a 3-month VIP trial. The only catch is that I'll ask that person to resign with the org before I do so. Fair enough? Fear not, those who are already VIP, there's something in it for you, too. I will also select a VIP member as a member of the month and they can also receive a three-month upgrade if they wish, they can decide to "sponsor a noob" and give the VIP to someone else (who also must be in the org) or they can receive an in-game cash prize (Amount to be determined). Again, the only catch is that I will ask them to resign with the org. So what type of person will be chosen for MLC-er of the month? It's not about who has the best fighter, or who has the best wins or best stats, it will be about participation. The award will go to those who are active in the forums and show a real interest in the org and the game itself. It will go to those who respond quickly to PM's and fight offers and basically are the type of members who make the org more enjoyable and help out whenever asked. Also, this is still up for consideration, but I'm likely going to hold tournaments to crown initial champions and there might also be a VIP prize involved with those, just to be sure I can keep my initial champions loyal and engaged in the org. We grow, you get paid. Profit share reward system. Ever had a really exciting fight and then been let down when your fighter wasn't chosen for an "Of the Night" bonus? Fear not, in MLC. I have decided that I am going to reward each and every winning fighter who puts on a good performance. There will still be the regular Fight of the Night, KO of the Night and Submission of the Night Awards, but in addition, 10% of the profits from each card will be divided amongst the winning fighters whose fight rating was 80% or over. Basically, I see this as a win-win. Those fighters who win and have exciting fights will be rewarded with extra compensation, while those exciting fights in turn will lead to the org getting better ratings and growing in hype. You scratch my back, I scratch yours. Of course, in a beginning org, the amounts might not be huge to begin with, but I will institute a $500 minimum for these awards. So it will be 10% of the profits, divided by all the winning fighters with 80% or over in their rating, or $500, whichever number is higher. I'm not running an org to make a boatload of cash, I basically want all people in my org to have a good experience and have a great time playing Tycoon! Put your money where your mouth is! Like to gamble? Feeling confident about your upcoming fight? Put your money where your mouth is, and bet on your fight, or any other in the MLC at the bookie which will be made available to all in the org prior to fight cards. I will be setting up odds for each fight and allowing people to put down whatever bets they want on either their fights, or other fights. (Also will potentially offer UFC odds, depending on interest). I'm hoping this will help people get a little more attached to the org as a whole and take a more active interest in other fighters in their division or MLC as a whole. Do you normally care about who wins some random opening bout on a card? Usually not. But if you've got some cash riding on it and it might be the difference between your fighter getting good supps or having to head to the poverty line, you might just have an interest in more MLC fights! Previews, reviews and posters for every event! There's nothing worse than looking at the gawdy "no logo has been uploaded" post image. Also, my day job is as a journalist, so I'm hoping my writing will help people get more attached to the org and get more amped up before big fight cards! I am also very much open to those who want to help out in this respect. I am by no means an artist, so if someone wants help funding their fighters training in exchange for doing event posters, no sweat! If someone wants to take some of the writing load to help with their costs, sure things! I hope people take an active role in helping grow this org! Writing bonus for managers/fighters This is a work in progress and I'm still ironing out the details on how I want to implement this, but in an effort to encourage activity, I am looking at potentially paying out org owners for putting up stories or interviews about their fighters. More details TBA. Who are we looking for? I'm not going to say there is a hard and fast restriction on ID numbers in this org, but at the same time, I am looking to build slowly and also be an org where new managers can come in and get fights. So if you have a project fighter who has been getting private training for six months, MLC is probably not the place for him, right now. Same as if you have a guy with a black belt and superb boxing, with an 11,000 ID creation. I want to be sure I don't hire people who will just run through the org, as that's not much fun for anyone! However, if you have some newer creations whose ID's are closer to 100,000 than they are to 0, feel free to hit me up for a contract! I would obviously prefer if the fighters live in Montreal, but as long as you are a veteran manager who understands the travel system, I don't mind if you have a different home base. I also will only be starting in three weight classes (so as to avoid having very thin divisions with not a lot of potential for matchups) ... The starting weight classes will be: HEAVYWEIGHT LIGHTHEAVYWEIGHT LIGHTWEIGHT UPDATE: WELTERWEIGHT --- Lastly, I am open for any and all discussions of partnerships or deals or ideas, or anything people may want to shoot by me. I'm online a lot during the day, so if anyone has any comments, questions or general suggestions, feel free to hit me up. Thanks guys! http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/belt/20110530035312mlcbelt1fixed.jpghttp://www.mmatycoon.com/images/company/thumbnail/1306727346MLC_thumb_2.jpghttp://www.mmatycoon.com/images/belt/20110530035312mlcbelt1fixed.jpg Click here for link to org. *Thanks to Anderson Silva, owner of Yankee FL, for the excellent logos and graphics.

  9. I'm sure this has been mentioned before, I'd be surprised if it weren't. Hell, it might already be in the game, but heres my thought. Different types of learning speed for primarys/secondaries/physicals Think of it as: instead of just 'learning speed' each fighter would have there 'potential' (determines primarys learning speed) then something like 'coordination' (determines secondaries learning speed) and then 'natural athleticism' (determines physical increase speed) I thought of this while watching a Melvin Guillrd fight, the guy has great natural athleticism but isn't the most skilled MMArtist. Or maybe a guy like Jake Shields who in the 'game world' would have great primary and secondary ability but mediocre athleticism, as he lacks speed, strength, etc. Something like this would be cool, as it would add more diversity to the types of fighters you'd see in the game. Again its just a thought, and it may already be in place. Thoughts?

  10. I don't know eactly what "changes" are coming, but there's been some talk about the introduction of skill decay. If there is some kind of decay, how about we have that as a hidden attribute? The rate at which fighters gain skills is determined by the learning speed hidden, so surely it'd make sense to have the rate at which they lose skills controlled by a "decay speed" hidden attribute?

  11. International Fight Clan (IFC): Membership Offer We are currently looking to add some ACTIVE and EXPERIENCED managers to our roster. We often spot good managers we would like in other alliances, but we don't believe it's cool to unsettle individual players who already belong to a group (even though certain alliances keep attempting, and failing, to invite our managers). So, here's a post to let people know who we are and what we are looking for... *ACTIVITY: Probably the number one requirement. We have a good thing going at the alliance now, with all the members active virtually every day. Our chatbox is alive with 10 to 20 posts a day, our forum is regularly used (with over 1000 posts and a great tactical database. A pretty well organised system that makes it easy to find the references you need), and there are 3 or 4 various people on our Mibbit channel most evenings. We are looking only for people who will be active and add to our progress. *EXPERIENCE: We have learned that new players are a risky proposition. A few have worked out great, but the majority have proved to be less than committed to the alliance and the game. As a rule of thumb, we hope to get managers with at least 40 fights under their belt. *RECORD: A winning record is an advantage to us, but it isn't a deal-breaker. We have some valued members now who have only mediocre records but add something to the alliance - Be it a great clothing company, an alliance gym, supplying sparbots, or simply being very active "socially". However, a GENUINE record is a must. We don't want people who are fighting cans in their own org for example. We prefer managers who fight in a variety of orgs and play the game in good spirit. *ABOUT US: We stick to the principle that all business is done on a player-to-player basis. There are, or never will be, an official org or alliance supps, etc. People cooperate and aid each other on a basis of friendship and free will. There is no obligation to buy anything or donate to anything. Business and cooperation with "outside" players and other alliances is encouraged. It works. There are numerous little groups working together in business, many alliance gyms offering great training to members, and we are very proud of how we support each other with slider and fight advice. The alliance has been around six months and has evolved in many ways. Our core principles are the same, but we have learned better which kinds of managers will fit well with us. Our membership has become stable and established, so this is a good time for us to look for new members to expand our capabilities. We have a monthly (stat-packed) alliance league table based on member's win% and opposition rating that adds a little fun and friendly competition too. Our first in-house alliance tourney (arranged for members by members) is planned soon. We are based in London and usually occupy the 3rd position in terms of record (occasionally we go second for a few days, but we haven't yet slipped down to 4th). Half of our members are relatively new, so we expect our performance to only get better over time. I believe a number of our members are well respected players who you may already know from business or the Tycoon Forum. I don't want to name anyone in particular, but our membership list is there to be seen. Alliance Page Alliance Forum Anyway, if you are an experienced and active manager and you are interested in a busy alliance where things happen and members become friends please get in touch. We can discuss it in complete confidence and with no obligation. PM: TBlack (40434)

  12. They said it could never be done, they said his streak would last forever, but were they wrong? We all know Mr. Jobber, the twenty-six year old has become iconic in the american MMA circuit and has what soem would describe as a never-die attitude, others on the other hand, blame his continued activity in the fight game on being knocked out waaay to many times, as he hsa never won a fight in 93 attempts. Thus his streak has become legendary, but now a challenger emerges. Hamza Nabi has taken on the challenge to end Jobber's streak. In the first attempt he won (or lost) a close fought decision, in which Jobber actually connected with strikes, which must surely have been a career first. Their rematch has been announced and Mr. Jobber will once again take on that challenge which he has made look so easy... losing. http://i.imgur.com/QnPGQ.jpg Will the iconic streak be snapped? Or will Nahi's momentum continue?

  13. Anyone else think it'd be cool to add "The Pocket" into the game? Basically, it's a boxing thing that is used to describe a boxer with less reach moving "inside" the reach of a larger opponent and using their head movement and the like to slip big punches and use counters. As it stands, I believe people make fighters unrealistically tall because there is no real consequence to it, and this would not only add a bit more realism to the standup game, but give more precedent to make a Heavyweight that isn't Semmy Fucking Schilt.

  14. And screw over their new managers who would then have to come out of pocket for their training before they take their next fight, when they have already earned money for training? Nope. Keep up the attitude you are showing in this thread and you will be taking a vacation from the forums.

  19. Exactly how would the discussion be spoiled for everyone else if he say, put "told you" in the thread title? Can't we just show some fucking courtasy? Here is the thing, you say "dont go to the forum", but discussing real world mma is just a small part of what we do here, so if someone who loves the game comes on, I completely understand them not appreciating spoilers in thread titles. Can't we just take the path of least resistance and keep thread titles clean of spoilers? It doesn't affect you at all, the opposite may negatively affect a lot of people. Or to take Deathzero's approach to civilized discussion (although slightly less homophobic) OH NOES I CANT CALL MY THREAD WHATEVER I WANT REGARDLESS OF HOW IT AFFECTS OTHERS THIS HAS COMPLETELY RUINED THE DISCUSSION AS IT DOESNT SET THE RIGHT FRAMEWORK FOR INTELLIGENT DEBATE. Homosexuals...

  28. No, what he meant was that Shiv not only lost money, but also the potential reward, so instead of making 30$ he lost 30$, which adds up to (in his mind) a 60$ loss. If you watch soccer you understand the consept.

  29. i dont know what's probly the most upsetting for him really? you have: A) he just created a thread about 3 fights he had coming up, and surely he didnt think he'd lose all 3 or he wouldnt have made the thread (yea, im pretty sure he was planning on something big and it didnt happen in the worse kinda way) B ) he's pretty much been declared the new whipping boy for superfights and that's really the only relevance that he has on this game as far as managing fighters. C) he just lost $30's which obviously means a lot to him because he's known he'd possibly have to pay it for over a month now and still wasnt able to scrape it up in time. so all in all, i'd say that yea, he's probly pretty damn upset lol

  32. When looking at a fighters fight history I think it would be interesting to see what the fight ratings to his fights were without having to open up the fight commentary and scroll to the bottom. If we believe that good fight ratings lead to good event ratings, then it would be a useful tool in gauging a free agents strength Adding this in after the time and before the "View" link would be perfect, so long as it doesnt require major programming changes
