  2. I don't have a problem with people who only want 'fair' fights, between a 40-100% chance of winning. However, people should be rewarded points accordingly for cherry picking to get a better opportunity at winning. Conversely, people who take tougher fights should be rewarded much greater. That is a huge problem with the ranking system right now.

    nba

Jordan played in college and he already went through his entire career. Lebron was in the NBA at 18, not nearly as refined as Jordan was. Lebron still has about 7 years of top level basketball left. I was just comparing the age at what they got their first ring.

He's younger than Jordan when he won his first ring
  5. GnP spamming while holding position is more of a concern, tbh.
  6. I would like to see a tournament like this for regular fighters. Edit: A message board, like in events, for the tournament would be cool too.
  7. I like stories with magic, gods, monsters, aliens, etc. It all has its place. Gladiator/King Arthur is a different genre altogether than game of thrones. People don't usually write pure medieval fiction. It's usually historical fiction... Braveheart is better than those two movies... so is Rome(the TV show). Anyways, this series is one of the best stories ever written. It goes a lot slower than the TV shows. The books are over 1000 pages each(maybe over 1500 I read it on kindle, so I'm not sure). The TV shows are basically a summary of the major events, and don't truly go over all the intricacies. They went over the jousting tournament really quickly. In the books, it's a huge event. There are chapters devoted to it. You really only see a small glimpse of it in the show. Khal Drogo - He died of an infection. They don't have antibiotics. Diseases take out many great warriors. Alexander the Great died at 32 of an unknown disease. Ned Stark- He didn't get a chance to tell Robert. Remember that after the whole Jaime/Ned thing that Robert went hunting. Ned found out when Robert was on his hunt & soon after he was drugged so that the boar would take him out. The best part of this story is that no one is safe. It's not comfort fiction with a 'main character' that goes through the story like God Mode in Doom. 'Anyone' can die. I think it's safe to say that no one wants Geoffrey on the Iron Throne. Everyone hates him, but that's the brilliance of the character. Most people who like the series have their favorite for the Iron Throne. Some want Daenrys, some want Rob, some want Stannis/Renly before him. Believe it or not, in the later books there are a couple more contenders. Who is really the main character and who is going to win at the end? No one knows, and that is awesome.
  8. That's funny I don't see any cans up there.
  9. There's a hard and a soft cap. The NBA salary situation is probably the most complicated in all of sports. You have to be damn near an economist to understand it.
  10. The TV show doesn't do the books justice. They only get approved for 10 episodes per book, and they have to rush through the story line. It should honestly be 20 episodes per book. That's where all the problems come in. You don't really get a great feel for the story watching the show, because it's rushed through.
  11. The Heat Dynasty that is... Don't worry fans of other teams, they will be benevolent champions. This won't be the last time we see them as champions. Nope. Not 1....Not 2... Not 3...
  12. 1. In a post he said it was, 'stupid'. However, It can't be anymore stupid than the system we have now, which almost no one likes. I don't like it because it's ineffective at creating 'ANY' sort of fighter diversity. Someone else doesn't like it hinders their fighters development. Then another person won't like it because it's time consuming. Really, anything is an improvement over this. 2. Yes. Or option B: You could introduce 4-6 new skill levels and then put in caps. That way, people wouldn't lose their precious pops, and there would be a lot of room for new development. Then you could speed up learning at lower levels even more. OR C) basically the same as B, but instead of new levels you raise the amount of total points. So if elite is 150 now, it would be 300. That would be interesting..
  13. What the OP is saying is that submissions are high risk/reward. There are many fighters who attempt 10+ submissions per fight without it ever leading to a stand-up or a reversal. I do have to say that once you get above exceptional submissions, the chance for you to lose position after a submission is pretty low(in my experiences). So you can attempt to end the fight multiple times, with little to no risk. Plus, it extends the time on the stand-up. So if your submissions are high enough, it's beneficial for you to go for multiple submissions while on top. Of course if you have a better system, you should post it in improvements, this isn't really the forum for it..
  14. You shouldn't have accepted the fight because that dude is ranked over 10k. That's pretty insulting, I would've told him to not bother me until you have a decently ranked fighter. But seriously, the skills aren't that big of a difference. People cherry picking for only 100% fair fights, or fights they have advantages in is one of the main problems with the ranking system & this game.
  15. Shogun?! are you kidding? He's a legit black belt.... He put one of the nastiest knee bars I've ever seen on a roided out kevin randleman. He uses the omoplata to switch all the time. Look guys, It's like this one fighter I have. He has Wonderful Submissions, I never use the submissions on him, because I don't like his chances to finish the fight that way. He's a KO power guy, I want him to GnP people out, and hold position. These guys you are all mentioning know how to use submissions, but there's a difference between having some skill and being able to submit world class fighters. What the OP said was not that people have brown/black belts and don't submit people. He said is it possible to have USELESS skill in submissions and ground and pound in real life and still be a brown/black belt. That is simply impossible. Even if you are only training it defensively for the purpose of your sport, you still know how to do these things. It's impossible to train anywhere to a black belt level without learning how to do let's say a kimura, armbar, or rear naked choke. Someone with useless offensive skill, wouldn't be able to do any of that. In this game it is possible to separate these two things. In real life they are combined, you can't understand the submission game unless you know how to defend and apply submissions.
  16. I did this with Alex Vargas when he was fighting Jason Rose for the Blitz bantamweight title, and #1 Bantamweight in the world. I set my fighter to 100% reach for clinch, it was terrible. It happens, just have to get over it.
  17. two words: skill cap It can't be anymore stupid than the system we have now. Some people complain it takes too much time to maintain, others claim it's not effective at it's purpose. It's really pointless to have tickers. AND having fighters with all sensationals or elites is equally stupid.
  18. The op said useless offensive skills. There's a large gap between useless and subbing a Gracie. You would find Wanderlai in there somewhere.
  19. It's not at all possible. You have to be proficient with certain submissions to get higher up in belts. It's not even really possible to get a purple belt with no offensive skills. Just because you don't see Wanderlai go for submissions in MMA doesn't mean he doesn't know how to do them/hasn't done them in training. Going for submissions in MMA very is risky.
  20. http://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilepublic.php?FID=24139 I disagree that physicals are more of an issue than skills in general. Like I said in my post, there are hundreds of fighters with Elite punches, Kicks, that can take you down, and submit you. It is ridiculous. Also if you would elaborate as to the other reasoning behind tickers, besides fighter diversity.
  21. The whole point of tickers was to introduce diversity, and they have been largely ineffective at that. Most fighters are sensational, sensational, exceptional, brown belts. I've even seen an elite, elite, elite, black belt. Even physicals have no diversity. All of my active fighters are at least sensational in every physical. So if they are ineffective towards the reason they were introduced, what is the point of them? I'd rather introduce a total skill cap for fighters, then change to much-slower tickers, which would be much easier to maintain. That would essentially make, "capped fighters", who would need to train much less. However, it would introduce diversity, and make training less time consuming. Plus, younger fighters could move up in skill much faster without being encumbered by tickers as they would only affect "capped fighters." The cap wouldn't be elite, sensational, exceptional, brown. That's what is really unrealistic as there is no fighter in real life with that type of skill level. It would be like sensational, remarkable, remarkable, purple. That would be like a JDS .Someone with really good boxing, but is well rounded and able to handle himself on the ground. These fighters with elite boxing, elite kicking, that can take you down, and submit you. They really need to go.

    Clinchwork

Jacky has a point, throwing 78 punches in the clinch with power, while still being able to trap an opponent is ridiculous and impossible. That's the current best strategy to spam clinch strikes. So if the point is to make clinch striking realistic, it is broken. To be honest though, the ground system is a bit like that too. Anyone with success on the ground throws lots of ground strikes while able to hold position.
  23. Theres nothing random about this game. You make it to the top by signing with orgs that don't have any fighters that can beat yours. Just ask the "#1 fighter" in the game.
