  4. fans of orignal SFO'ers were thrilled to see both Igor Tatov and Kublai Congo get back to their winning ways in impressive fashion at tonight's BIG TIME event. afterwards, their management team made it abundantly clear that the former SHW and MW champs, respectively, will be looking to hasten their return to the spotlight by fighting anyone, anytime. as the rejuvenated Tatov so elequently put it; just remember, accepting will be hazard to your health!

  11. (beginning the lengthy process of posting the backdated versions of our write ups, for posterity's sake.) AOC Herald, V. 0.3, 2010-07-04 As long a stretch as we’re likely to see between two events has meant a break from the keyboard, if not the mouse but we’re back refreshed to give you the dish. Check out who’s managed to stick amongst the top 5 fight org’s in Montreal despite our lengthy drought in mma action. Clouds formed over AOC35: Heavy Grind which you’ll finally get a review of and it starts pouring as we bring you AOC36: Impending Explosion, preview to end ’er (with a few features strewn about). Let’s kick ‘er off with a warm welcome to the fighters who’ve recently signed on to help us grow… Newest AOC team members: BW Trevor Smith, Adam Sandler FW Taro Mishima, Rick Slick LW Kenji Oshimoto, mads lehmann WW Luke Withers MW Pasi Rauha, Wayne Gretzky, Lu Bu LHW Ken Hall Recently re-signing: BW Hakim Hamsho LW Bruno Da Silva WW Steve Fighter, Shane Richards HW John Candy Although your contracts vary wildly, we love you all like family. AOC35: Heavy Grind recap: * HW Grigorin “The Bear Fighter” Zaytsaev (1-1) TKO’s Sugar Bear (0-4-1) (Cut) 2:54 of rd. 1: If Sugar was gonna bust his professional cherry, you think it’d be against an 0-1 opponent… thought wrong, as the big Russian made use of some serious ground n’ pound to end this one early. Encouraging triumph for Zaytsaev, who’s leapt up our HW rankings and is apparently waiting for the winner of Wong/Yaroslavovich. As far as Sugar Bear goes, if his manager still believes, we will too but once his contract’s up, a pay raise appears unlikely. FIGHT RATING 87% * FW “the Scimitar” Hakim Hamsho (3-3) Submits Juvius Ledford (1-1) (Armbar) 3:40 of rd. 1: In his final match as a Featherweight, double H showed continued improvement from his last time out to even his record and earn a Tri-bronze trophy with his first 3 Wins. Yes, Hamsho’s developing in a well-rounded manner and if able to get the W next time out, he’s making a push for entry into our soon to be announced Bantamweight Tourney. FIGHT RATING 59% * WW Shane “The Dagger” Richards (4-2) Decisions Rodney “Boomer” Ang (4-3) (Split): Most times you see a split, there’s gonna be unhappy campers and this great rematch was no exception. Ang remained adamant afterwards he had beat up Richards and anyone who thought otherwise was following Dana White on Twitter instead of watching the fight. Said fellow Aussie, the Dagger; “Those Melbourne wimps are always whining about something”- at which point Ang lunged at him and scored another successful takedown before security staff could intervene and haul him back to the locker room. Even though Richards is now up 2-0, we were left with impression that these two are not quite finished with each other and with the hot reception this one received, we may have to arrange it. FIGHT RATING 100% * LW Amos "The Amish Man Machine" Stoltzfus (1-0) TKO’s "Jejemon" Selvester Maslang (0-1) TKO (Punches) 0:37 of rd. 1: If there’s one thing I love about Art of Conflict, it’s that you get a full spectrum of fighters on our cards. It was the frosh’s turn to grab the spotlight here and almost famous Amos pushed Maslang aside like a tricycle on the walkway. Although questionable instructions had him encouraging some grappling, I was wowed by everything the guy presented, besides the long-winded . FIGHT RATING 88% * LHW Chris "Blaze" Carter (4-1) TKO’s Lazaro "Bellini" Casanova (4-2) (Punch and Knee) 0:13 of rd. 2: Amongst his peers with similar records, Carter’s for real and well on his way to being viewed as a beast with extended stretches at a premium gym like the AOC Fight Factory. Accuracy wasn’t an especially important part of the gameplan but separating his opponent’s head from his body was. Casanova needed to be less suave and more savvy, as his entrance was slick but things started sliding downhill from there. Having to face an on fire Blaze in his first fight with us was a double whammy and we expect to see him settle in and get some Wins. Next for Carter on his climb up the crimson path is the equally hard-hitting, Wolf Christian; who lands the bomb first- beauty, eh? FIGHT RATING 100% * WW Juhani Torso (4-0) Decisions "SFO.1" Steve Fighter (4-2) (Majority): Although Fighter made it clear to Juhani that he wasn’t in the Quickfight circuit any more, he didn’t look as good as we’ve seen him in the past which left Torso‘s record and face unblemished. Unable or unwilling to get off strikes while standing, he was left going for takedowns and getting hit in the process. When they did get down, JT’s submission defence and better wrestling skills allowed him to evade the dangers presented by Fighter’s Purple belt until they got back to their feet. FIGHT RATING 100% * LW Bill “Biv” Dafoe (3-3-1) Decisions Brian Eisner (2-1) (Unanimous): Even though he had the edge in experience, this was a tricky match up for Dafoe, since he didn’t want to exchange punches with Eisnar and had to be wary of his Purple belt when on the ground. However, Eizy never pulled out a submission attempt, which allowed BBD to parlay his wrestling advantage and 8/9 takedown attempts into a boring victory. If his corner thought this one was difficult to gameplan for, it gets much harder with his next opponent, JF Bozzhoul. FIGHT RATING 38% $ HW John “Uncle Buck” Candy (5-0) TKO’s Cool “Flabby” McCold (13-8) TKO (Cut) 2:22 of rd. 1: Our rabid fans were back in their seats once this one was introduced and it didn’t take them long to get off them and start roaring their approval for the kid they can‘t get enough of. Some thought this would be McCold’s best opportunity for a bounce back fight and we’d see the return of ol’ reliable but instead, the young Buck made him look old and the only thing we’ve come to rely on is him getting pummelled until the ref pulls his opponent off. This time it was AOC rising star, Candy, who landed all 13 of his head shots, with the majority of them doing serious damage to Cool‘s addled brain. Our org matchmaker was so giddy over this dominating performance he’s signed John up for the next HW Title shot while we‘re trying to sign up Sal the Janitor so McCold can get a softer touch next time out. FIGHT RATING 100% $ MW Tyler Durden (3-0) KO’s Dwight Elkins (2-1) KO (Punch) 4:54 of rd. 1: I was so shocked by the ex-Fight Clubber, Durden’s ability to survive the head kicking Muay Thai/Brown belt artillery presented by Elkins and then take the fight to him that I’ve installed a new Unconventional Award as a result; Surprise of Show. Elkins downfall was being unable to inflict damage on the ground, with either strikes or submissions and when standing, absorbed just enough power shots to go comatose right before the bell. Durden appears to have an innate knack for clocking buttons, not wasting energy on dome shots that hurt your knuckles more than your opponent’s head. With proper nurturing, the kid’s a superstar in the making unless he gets overmatched by a greedy promoter. FIGHT RATING 77% $ HW Title "The Malice" Jeff Kennedy (11-1) KO’s “Animal” Frank McGrath (7-2) (Punches) 1:14 of rd. 1: Boom, bam, biff- this fight had everything but the bubbled captions over top, as Jeff Kennedy showed the mma world he has no intention of relinquishing the HW Title he worked so hard to regain. We thought there’d be a lot of clinching mixed in with some takedown attempts from McGrath, aimed at exposing perceived weaknesses in the Champ’s game but expect the unexpected- we had Kennedy initiating clinches and McGrath breaking them. It was in the straight stand up where The Malice laid on the serious hurt, however and we can be sure Frankie’s corner were left wishing they’d never left the comfy confines of the MT clinch. Despite the set back, he’s still ascending and the experience gained from his first Title fight will only make him stronger when he gets back into the cage. FIGHT RATING 100% Cause’s Unconventional Awards for AOC35: Heavy Grind Nickname of the Night: Grigorin “The Bear Fighter” Zaytsaev, he looks and acts like it‘s true. Folding Chair Award: Selvester Maslang, will need to do a better job of defending glass jaw. Up & Comer Trophy: Juhani Torso, emerges from the middle of the WW pack. Surprise of Show: Tyler Durden, proved there‘s a lot more to winning than Primary skill sets. Collectively, these mainly memorable matches scored the second highest rating in AOC history, clocking in at 118.74 and the Event goes down as our first with 3,000 in attendance. All of whom went home feeling like they’d gotten their money’s worth, thanks to our fighters and the skills that they presented. Whatever happened to: HW Dan “Computer God” Schulman? Here’s a target I derided hard for sitting on a 20k bank account while cheaping out at the local conditioning gym. Then he’d go out and demonstrate all the offence of a dead duck on fight night as the losses piled up. After duly departing us after L #15, he’s managed to convince RAFL that the comeback is on… then went out and got beat in both matches for them. This drops the scholarly Schully’s record to 8-17 with no fight scheduled, thankfully. AOC36: Impending Explosion Preview Finally, the org is back in action, returning to Hayashi’s Lounge and a powderkeg of a card that has me salivating. Seriously, that’s how much of a freak this gig is turning me into, I watch some these guy‘s grow as fighters and when it‘s time for them to clash, anticipation runs past the warm and tingly phase. Giving this Even the once over is all it takes to realize we’re in for a fine night of fights, now lemme give ya the rundown… * MW Elliot Wood (1-0) vrs Xavier Belial (8-8): Getting things off to a likely rousing start, we offer a match up of new school versus old, with Wood looking good in his introductory match with us while Belial’s succumbed to most of the adversity he‘s seen here. Glaring mismatch, experience wise but few our counting Wood out. Prediction: Belial, Majority decision * BW "Stinkyfoot" Tony Labeau (0-2) vrs Maxime "The force" Laforce (2-1): Labeau needs this obviously important Win to justify his career but it’s also a biggie for Laforce, who could possibly use a 3-1 to make it into the Bantamweight Tourny. If Labeau didn’t have enough disadvantages going in, he’s the spitting image of loveable loser, Gen Anduw and that’s not a good thing. Prediction: Laforce, KO rd. 2. * LW Mark MacLeod (6-7) vrs “Terrible” Tommy Thunder (6-5): It’s a battle of aging warhorses, with neither of these combatants able to establish themselves at the 10 fight mark of their careers. With the only Win in his last 3 fights being over the pedestrian, Bill Dafoe, MacLeod has reached now or never time. Terrible Tommy’s new around these parts and will get some benefit of the doubt as a result but with his record barely above .500, would like to get a lengthy winning streak happening to go out in a blaze of glory. Prediction: Thunder, Unanimous decision. $ LHW Clint “Wonder Kid” Wendell (6-4) vrs Scott Baker (5-3): After a lengthy absence to hone certain flaws in his game, AOC36 sees the highly anticipated return of one time media darling, Clint Wendell. Waiting for him is Scott Baker, who lost a split decision to the more experienced, Krystof Teverdosky in his debut for us but faces someone much closer to his level in that dept. Prediction: Wendell, TKO rd. 2. $ MW Abula “Habula” Babu (7-3) vrs Deamon Beat (4-3): The first of back to back, Middleweight eliminators holds some intrigue, as Babu is having a hard time recovering his morale from the stunning upset Loss to Salvador Dali and appears to be overdoing it in the gym leading up to such an important fight. Can former up & comer, Beat take advantage of these chinks in Babu’s armour and vault himself back up the relevancy ranks? There’s been some noticeable results from Beat’s training regiman, though he’s now taken a break to get ready to fight. Prediction: Babu, TKO rd. 3 $ MW Keijo "Ylimielinen" Sardiini (8-4) vrs Salvador "Papillonn" Dali (10-10): Then we have the back end of the eliminator showcasing long time AOC stalwart, Sardiini, taking on the slippery Dali, who’s rejuvenated his career since signing on with us a couple months ago. These two split even on the stand up sliders which may leave us with Keijo’s edge in wrestling trying to out point Dali’s Purple belt when/if the fight goes horizontal. Prediction: Sardiini, Unanimous decision * FW Abbath "Doom" Occulta (6-6) vrs Vincent "The BALCO Labz Project" Smyth (3-1): The CMAA vet and Brown belt, Occulta, gets his first taste of life in the AOC when he stares down headquarters’ fave, Vinnie Smyth. Doom has taken on some very talented warriors in his lengthy career and it would be a monumental feat for Smyth to pull out a victory here. The kid knows no fear though and is going in intent on using his decent striking and well rounded ground skills to earn a big knotch in his belt. Prediction: Occulta, Submission rd. 3. $ WW "The Hitman" Baby Firefly (8-2) vrs Bill “The Bomber” Bradski (9-5): You may be thinking “ease up on the co-Main Event designation$, dude” but I’ll never lend false credence to a fight that doesn’t bring forth goose bumps and have Title contention implications. The only caveat going in to this potential Fight of the Night is Bradski’s morale, which I just noticed is utterly shot. This stinky Yank needs a clothes change worse than the cast of Gilligan‘s Island after season 1. The Hitman, a transplanted Texan who comes to us from the New York fight scene, has had plenty of time to settle in to Montreal and looks ready to rumble Prediction: Firefly, Submission rd. 1. $ HW Dizzle “Holla At” Dadude (6-0) vrs Bruce “Hulk” Banner (7-3): Winner’s assured of the next Heavyweight Title shot or my name’s not Joe Silva. With 11 T/KO Wins between them, this one isn’t likely to go to the judges. Both sluggers have promised a toe to toe war but we won’t be surprised to see the Hulk make use of superior wrestling skills to score some points and take Dadude out of his element. Which ever way it unfolds, this battle’s got “Don’t blink” written all over it. Prediction: Banner, TKO rd. 1. $ LHW Hank Hall (7-1) vrs Arthur Eld (8-3): Former Lightweight Champion and likely first ballot entrant in the AOC Hall of Fame, Hank Hall climbs back into the cage after his first career defeat to try and prove to the mma community he’s better than ever and deserving of a rematch with Joe Clark. I hate to use the word choke in a format such as this but Eld’s become a working study in how to lose the big one. Here he has a chance to cement his status as the #1 contender for the Title but the only folks betting hard earned money on him are either drunk, foolish or related (and in the case of his cousin from Cheektowaga- all three combined). As great a striker as Eld is, he’s not quite in Hall’s league and unless he’s able to execute the perfect gameplan, is looking at bridesmaid status once again. Prediction: Hall, KO rd. 3. Had every intention of adding my Don’t Believe the Hype top 5’s for all our Divisions in this edition but forgot about my girls’ soccer game which ate into my evening. So we’re gonna press send now and add that to the AOC main page at some point tomorrow, as well as our Smack talk thread in the Forum. We’ll be seeing you soon with all the monster Events about to unfold, not sure about you but I can’t wait! Friendly reminder of the week: despite fighters climbing all over each other to earn one of Cause’s Unconventional Awards other than the infamous Folding Chair, boss tarsun’s Official Awards now come with 2k worth of income to your fighter instead of my paltry pat on the back. Further incentive for you to go for the gusto when game planning for opponents.
  12. one of the most dynamic fight org's around is pleased/proud/excited to help fill the void of bookmakers in this great city, offering exclusive odds on all forthcoming Art of Conflict Events. There's almost 70k up for grabs, with some seriously viable longshots in play at this Sunday's AOC40: Lower the Boom Event. You'll turn a fat profit by taking a chance on a Sherm submission over the veteran Thompson, Vlad Tepes gnp victory against Hambukoo or Max House KO win versus that beast, Bruno Da Silva. There's some other healthy offerings on this one to encourage you to branch out your interests here at mmatycoon to include getting your bets down on the latest AOC offerings. see ya at the payout window! http://www.mmatycoon.com/bookmakerpublic.php?bid=715
  13. still need to edit/copy/paste over the last version of the AOC Herald, meantime, here's my latest ranks, the title of which has been recently co-opted by another fight org in Montreal. oh well, you know what they say, immitation is the best form of flattery... Cause’s Don’t Believe the Hype Rankings as of July 10 Heavyweights 1. “The Malice” Jeff Kennedy (11-1) 2. Dizzle “Holla At” Dadue (7-0) 3. “Animal” Frank McGrath (7-2) 4. Skwisgaar "The Swedish Assassin" Skwigelf (6-2) 4. Arthur Eld (8-4) 5. Oderus Masatoshi (5-2-1) Looking in: Lispen Familia, winners of Christian/Carter and Crushin/Teverdosky * congrats to the Spark Clark on his tourny win representing the AOC! Middleweights 1. Semi “Spida” Silva (7-0-1) 2. Keijo "Ylimielinen" Sardiini (8-4) 3. Pasi “Fist” Rauha (9-2) 4. “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka (4-0-1) 5. Hadley Jagger (6-3) Looking in: White Halfoat, Abula Babu, Chester Carlson, Tyler Durden. Welterweights 1. Bruce “Batman” Wayne (7-0-1) 2. Abdullah Maleh (10-2-1) 3. “DJ Aggro” Dewayne Jennings (10-4) 4. "The Demon-God" Mibu Kyoshiro (5-0) 5. “The Hitman” Baby Firefly (9-2) Looking in: Juhani Torso, Junie Silva, winner of Serptentino/Cee. Lightweights 1. Kenny Wood (7-1) 2. "Diabinho" Bruno Da Silva (5-1-1) 3. Peter “The Punisher” Cabreros (6-2) 4. Mark “The Maniac” Brown (6-2) 5. Max “Well” House (4-2) Looking in: Amadeus Astra, JF Houle, JAH RASTAFARI. Featherweights 1. Seth Bryce (8-3) 2. Lyle "Duracell" Alzado (8-3) 3. Nag "Rakshasa" Hambukoo (7-1) 4. Stevie "the Whirlwind" Walker (6-2) 5. Taro “The Bull” Mishima (7-4) Looking in: Don Hall, Abbath Occulta, winner of O Coolahand/Rizal. And we still haven’t signed enough studs to rate the Bantamweights. So we’ll mention it again- if you have any fighters able to join our newest Division, please pm boss tarsun or myself at your earliest covenience so we can try to get him involved.
  14. original post edited in a belated attempt to keep contract matters private.
  15. when former SFO SHW Champion, Igor "Rat-a-tat" Tatov heard that Cain Marko had called him doodoo, something snapped in this otherwise personable warrior and he swore he'd make Marko eat that word. A crazy piece of inside info to share with you on his state of mind going in- his instructions were set to 100% stay standing. Completely of his on volition he decides to drag the lout down and BEAT HIM AT HIS OWN GAME?! Upon seeing takedown into mount, i let almost a minute of the of fight slip by before realizing it was Tatov in the dominant position. Next thought was; shame i've told him to get up, he'll likely do it just before he could've ended it... but Igor maniacly ignored that command, too. Almost as good a piece of news as the big hype/pop Tatov gained from exposing this fraud is that we won't have to listen to loud mouth Marko anymore- "where's my Title shot, Mr. SFO? I know I haven't beat anyone to deserve it but waaa, I wanna Title shot anyway, waaa!!". My guy knows when you've made your way up the rankings, it's in the org's best interest to have you take on the Champ, since it means more revenue from the extra fans who want to see him. So he'll continue training and fighting whoever he has to in order to regain what he lost in a Split Decision, of all things.
  16. we're not scared but rather too busy in the gym improving our chances down the stretch. our top secret, operation flip-flop commences tonight. i'd advise you prepare but there's no point~ how do you tell someone with a baseball bat to stop a battle tank?
  17. Art of Conflict in Montreal is actively seeking mediocre-quality fighters to beef up our smaller Divisions; Lightweight, Featherweight and especially, Bantamweight, which we've recently opened for business. We intend to hold an 8 man elimination tourney for the latter as soon as we've stocked the Division with enough guys to make it viable, with the winner receiving 10k and our freshly minted belt. pm boss tarsun http://www.mmatycoon.com/managerprofileman....php?MgrID=4315 or myself http://www.mmatycoon.com/managerprofileman...php?MgrID=17807 with your fighter's ID# and any background info you feel is pertinent and we'll get right on it.
  18. Tatov's last 10 rounds have been with Ping/Slice, both far better than the stiffs Marko's walked over. actually, both far better than Marko so we're not the least bit intimidated by the pre-fight yammering. the true greats don't need to grovel for a title shot- just win, baby. it's only the eventual also-rans who need their managers to cook up a marketing campaign to make up for their lack of credibility.
  19. AOC Herald, V. 0.2 It’s been another hectic week for both the Art of Conflict and your friendly neighborhood fight scribe but we’ve managed to make our way back just to tell you all about it… AOC34: Seek and Destroy recap * HW Sean “The Silencer” OKeefe (3-2) TKO’s Hemangio Blastoma (2-5-1) (Strikes) 0:18 of rd. 1: We got the evening off to a rousing start, when OKeefe silenced Blastoma’s pre-fight bombast in a hurry, after he stuffed a takedown and countered with a beautiful uppercut. Sean’s now put himself in a position to get a meaningful fight soon, as long as his manager returns to accept. FIGHT RATING 67% * LW Brynn Watson (1-1) Decisions Bo “Jiggy” Dangles (0-1) (Unanimous): Let the jockeying for position amongst our newcomers to the Lightweight Division begin- with Watson being the first from a slew of recent signings to work his way up towards the middle-tier with the more established pros. Both fighters were tentative throughout this contest, with rookie jitters likely at play. However, Brynner was the more willing of the two, rocking Dangles in the 2nd and managed to even his record as a result. FIGHT RATING 51% * MW Roland “The Gunslinger” Deschain (3-4) Decisions Bubbles Lahey (3-3) (Unanimous): In his farewell duel as a pro, The Gunslinger went out a winner as his manager’s now retired and set his stable of fighters loose on the beaches. The guy still with us has some soul searching to do, as Bubbles was resoundingly outgunned in all aspects of this stand-up affair, unable to take Rollie down or avoid the strikes. There was talk afterwards he’ll be bringing a different corner team next time out, as these guys left him with some dubious instructions. That said, we thank you for doing your part in contributing to a great rating! FIGHT RATING 99% * LHW Frank Sherm (2-2) Submits Hasse Stam (1-1) (Guillotine) 1:43 of rd. 1: The slowly developing Sherm gets back to .500 with a much needed win that keeps him in view of the Lightheavyweight up & comers. Although still in need of work on his takedowns, he wasted no time going for it once he’d pulled guard and choked out Stam on his fourth try in under a minute. Stam’s manager was so despondent after the loss, we haven’t seen him since. FIGHT RATING 47% * LHW Wolf Christian (4-3) KO’s Anthony Soprano (5-6) (Punch) 0:11 of rd. 1: How long’s it been since we’ve had a 100% rating?- too busy to check but it’s seems we’ve covered over 20 fights before hitting the jackpot. So hats off to Christian for showing us the punching power that you built a reputation on and Soprano for leaving his chin hanging out there for some target practice. Having lost all four of his AOC fights after coming over with a 5-2 record, it’s safe to say his previous org did not prepare Soprano for the level of competition here. Meanwhile, Wolf sits perched on the cusp of big things should he be able to string a couple more Wins together, regardless of his opponents‘ stature. FIGHT RATING 100% * MW Mike Mercurious (2-1) TKO’s “Puck” Richard Larondelle (3-5) (Cut) 2:21 of rd. 1: BOOM- and it’s two 100%’ers in a row, as one of my favorite recent signings disposes of an AOC vet who’s still waiting to get his groove on here. Even though he was clearly winnnig the stand up battle, Mercurious showed us his diversity by bringing the fight down and finishing it with some brutal gnp that’d make Fedor proud. His people were proposing Schoonie Singleton as a worthy opponent and we fully endorse that proposal for the next event that’s scheduled. FIGHT RATING 100% * WW “Wildcat” Ted Grant (5-4) KO’s James San Claire (4-3) (Punch) 0:25 of rd. 1: It appears San Claire was instructed to bring this fight to the clinch and likely to the ground but barring a pm from his corner, we’ll never know. The more advanced Grant was able to break free from his opponent’s attempt to entwine him and display some sensational Boxing to devastating effect. Hope springs eternal in the Wildcat camp that he can continue building his record to the point of Title contention- that’s 1 down, 3 or 4 to go. Stan Jonathan’s made mention of climbing back up at Grant’s expense, we’ll stay tuned to see how that plays out. FIGHT RATING 100% * LW Max “Well” House (4-2) TKO’s Ricky “Ruthless” Young (3-2) (Strikes) 2:59 of rd. 2: The AOC is glad to bring Max House back on a new contract, as he handled a worthy opponent here in workmanlike fashion. He wasn’t able to gain the submission win, though lawd knows he tried (10 times) but showed he’s more than just another Purple belt with some great striking defence and fistic responses to Young’s head that eventually ended this contest. Though he’d re-signed after my most recent Divisional rankings, this result leaves him as the #6 rated LW, with Amadeus Astra clearly in his sights. FIGHT RATING 43% $ LHW “Fast” Hans Laudrup (5-2) Decisions Edmund “King Snake” Dorrance (5-4) (Unanimous): In our co-main Event featuring emerging Lightheavyweights who both looked great in their previous outings, I was completely shocked at Laudrup’s ability to thouroughly dominate a talented warrior like the King Snake. Not only was he able to avoid damage from the sensational Muay Thai practitioner during the stand up exchanges but he got the fight to the ground at will and once there, smacked Dorrance around like a hair-lipped step child A scout for the Invincible Empire, also known as the CFC who was on hand for the Event signed Laudrup away from us later that night, saying; “we came in thinking we’d be making an offer to Dorrance, after he went to 6-3 but it didn’t take long to realize Hans was the big prize and the CFC‘s glad we could come to terms with this burgeoning talent. And hey, look on the bright side, we gave you Cool McCold in return and he’s a lot bigger”. FIGHT RATING 78% $ MW Title Semi “Spida” Silva (7-0-1) vrs “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka (4-0-1) Draw: Someone dial up Mr. Spock to tell us what are the odds of two Title fights in a row ending in Draws. I know they are astronomical yet nonetheless, we witnessed it and even moreso than it’s predecessor, this was a classic nailbiter. Snuka won the 1st with a quick takedown and some serious gnp that left the Champ dazed and cut. After regrouping in between rounds, Silva stormed back to take the 2nd with a steady stream of strikes and then totally dominated the 3rd before Superfly managed to get his second wind to impressively win the final two rounds with more takedowns and ground strikes. This astonishing comeback effort against a seasoned belt holder earned him a hard fought draw that keeps both fighters undefeated. Snuka’s peeps were saying afterwards that a rematch is a foregone conclusion since the precedent’s been set with Wayne/Maleh and you’d need a slick solictor to argue otherwise. FIGHT RATING 100% Cause’s Unconventional Awards for AOC34: Seek and Destroy Nickname of the Night: Sean “The Silencer“ OKeefe, shhhhh. Folding Chair Award: Anthony Soprano, gets worse each time out. Up & Comer Trophy: Max House, though he could be considered a vet, we’ll make an exception. Although the fans filed out disappointed that the Middleweight Title fight had no definitive closure, all agreed this was another great card presented by Art of Conflict. Confirmed by our trusty bean counters who keep sending it back to us for dispersal via new contracts. Unless management invests in a 3 hour pay per view out of Wild Bob’s Bar, we couldn’t possibly mess this up. My Favorite Fights Heavyweight Boxing 1976, George Foreman vrs Ron Lyle: the 4th and 5th rounds were absolute mayhem, have never seen anything like it from two behemoths and as an added bonus, you get the excitable ringside commentary from the late/great, Howard Cossell (link below). AOC35: Heavy Grind preview The Sunday night fights are back and the Art of Conflict’s taking them to Hayashi’s 3,000 seat venue for an action packed ensemble of battles that are certain to please our discerning fan base. While it’s certainly risky business presenting such a top-heavy card- once you look beyond the 3 main bouts there’s not a lot of hyped fighters in play, we’re confident the match ups on the undercard are going provide enough fireworks and surprises to win over the doubters. * HW Sugar Bear (0-3-1) vrs Grigorin "The Bear Fighter" Zaytsaev (0-1): I’m not sure if Big Z, who’s from some unpronounceable Russian town that sounds like it’s in the high Arctic, has changed his nickname to suit his current opponent or if that’s a cosmic coincidence. He has one faint hope of winning his first fight and that’s to take Suger down and never let him up unless the ref says so. Prediction: Bear, TKO rd. 2 * FW “Juke” Juvius Ledford (1-0) vrs “the Scimitar” Hakim Hamsho (2-3): Although Ledford looked good in his first outing, he’s going to have to be a lot better than that to hang an L on the more mature Hamsho. Don’t let the shoddy record fool you, the Scimitar’s far more dangerous than it would suggest, with high end training paying big dividends over the past couple months. Prediction: Hamsho, KO rd. 1 * WW Shane “The Dagger” Richards (3-2) vrs Rodney “Boomer” Ang (4-2): Looking at Ang’s two losses you see the most recent was at the capable hands of Abdullah Maleh and you have go back past his 4 fight win streak to see he lost his debut to the Dagger. In what promises to be a spirited rematch between these two evenly matched Welters, this could come down to which corner’s provided their fighter with the better instructions. Prediction: Ang, Unanimous decision * LW "Jejemon" Selvester Maslang (0-0) vrs Amos "The Amish Man Machine" Stultifies (0-0): A couple more of our fresh faced additions to the Lightweight Division make their debuts and as usual, it’s a tough one to call. We’re not sure if Jejemon’s a distant relative of Pokemon but we do see he’s very serious about training and has a slight advantage in both MT and Wrestling. The only significant edge lies with Stulty’s proficient Boxing, however and that’s what should make the difference. Prediction: Stultifies, Unanimous decision. * LHW Lazaro "Bellini" Casanova (4-1) vrs Chris “Blaze” Carter (3-1): A former Title holder with the Agression org here in Montreal, Casanova’s moved up to the AOC with every intention of repeating that feat. Standing in his way to the first step up the ladder is a talented fighter in Carter, who lost a tough decision in his debut with us recently and is hungry to get back to his winning ways. Prediction: Casanova, Submission rd. 3 * WW Juhani Torso (3-0) vrs "SFO.1" Steve Fighter (4-1): Yet another toughie to predict- this looks like an exciting night for MMA, folks. The highly hyped Torso came on board recently after winning all 3 of his Quickfights via 1st round KO and has repeatedly stated his goal is to win every bout in an identical manner. Well, Steve Fighter’s no slouch when standing and also has a Purple belt that was mailed to him 1st class by the Nogueira bros. after he completed their online jiu-jitsu course. Still, he’ll need some upper echelon striking defence to evade the attack coming down the pipe. Prediction: Torso, TKO rd. 2 * LW Brian Eisner (2-0) vrs Bill “Biv” Dafoe (2-3-1): Eisnar’s taken the overly cautious approach to energy conservation for this fight by not training for some time now while Dafoe’s been going gangbusters in the gym and will still come in at 100%. Then there’s the morale issue, which given their records, you’d assume belongs to Biv but that’s not the case. Put these red flags together with Dafoe’s steadily improving striking abilities and we’ve got the makings of an upset. Prediction: Dafoe, Unanimous decision $ HW John “Uncle Buck” Candy (4-0) vrs Cool “Flabby” McCold (13-7): Biggest gap in experience I‘ve ever seen between two combatants yet I hesitate to say Candy‘s in too deep. The guy’s impressed everyone that witnessed his demolitions of Big D and wonderful Boxer, Peter Klaven to the point that you figure he‘s got a puncher’s chance against anyone. Plus let’s face it, McCold is well past the peak of his career and appeared to be running on fumes in his recent KO loss to Frank McGrath. Should the young gun, Candy, manage to prevail over his craftier opponent, he moves from the up & comer ranks to Title contender status while McCold just wants to put his retirement party on hold at this juncture of the downward spiral. at least he never refuses a fight! Prediction: Candy, KO rd. 3 $ MW Dwight Elkins (2-0) vrs Tyler Durden (2-0): I’ve been pushing for this one to be signed since Dwight made his ultra-impressive debut with us and have been borderline giddy in anticipation of the opening bell. Primary-wise, this looks like a walk in the park for Elkins but we’ll find out tonight just how high Durden’s secondaries and hidden attributes rate out. Based on his two Wins that came against more experienced foes, the belief here is that those numbers are off the charts. Yet even if I’m correct in that assumption, Elkins may be as well, in which case the younger Durden is doomed unless he lands the perfect punch early on. Prediction: Elkins, Submission rd. 2 $ HW Title “The Malice” Jeff Kennedy (10-1) vrs “Animal” Frank McGrath (7-1): The battle we’ve all been waiting for is rightfully being pitched as the greatest HW matchup in AOC history. Never mind puny fireworks, this bashfest may produce a mushroom cloud over top of Hayashi’s once the monster and beast collide. The Malice has a 30 lb. and 20 cm height advantage on McGrath and will need to use that to full effect in order to slow down the devasting MT package that’s sure to be thrown at him. The one piece of advice you want to offer your fighter when facing Frank- BREAK CLINCH! Animal also presents a high level ground game if this fight happens to go there, where again, Kennedy will need to use his size to help nullify McGrath’s superior skills. Jeff gets some edge from the experience factor and with 9 of his victories coming by way of T/KO, it‘s really hard to bet against the (much) bigger man. Prediction: Kennedy, KO rd. 4 Cause’s UFC Top 5 (an AOC Herald Exclusive) Heavyweight 1. Shane Carwin 2. Brock Lesnar 3. Cain Velasquez 4. Junior Dos Santos 5. Frank Mir Looking in: Big Nog, Roy Nelson, Gabriel Gonzaga. Lightheavyweight 1. Shogun Rua 2. Rashad Evans 3. Lyoto Machida 4. Jon Jones 5. Rampage Jackson Looking in: Randy Couture, Rich Franklin, Lil’ Nog. Middleweight 1. Anderson Silva 2. Vitor Belfort 3. Demian Maia 4. Chael Sonnen 5. Nate Marquardt Looking in: Alan Belcher, Yushin Okami, Michael Bisping. Welterweight 1. GSP 2. Martin Kampmann 3. John Fitch 4. Josh Koscheck 5. Thiago Alves Looking in: Carlos Condit, Paulo Thiago, Mike Swick. Lightweight 1. Gray Maynard 2. BJ Penn 3. Kenny Florian 4. Frankie Edgar 5. Clay Guida Looking in: Evan Dunham, George Sotiropoulos, Sean Sherk. That’s all for now, fine friends, we’ll make it a fast wrap so we can get this delivered to your doorstep in plenty of time before the fighters start heading towards the cage later tonight. For the next version of the Herald, we’ll combine the Heavy Grind recap with a preview for AOC36: Impending Explosion, featuring a key LHW matchup between Hank Hall and Arthur Eld to determine who will face Joe Clark when he returns from repping the AOC in a Grand Prix tourney. Our best wishes are with Joe on an early KO so he can knotch another Win and get back to us soon. Friendly reminder of the week: The lil’ org that could is actively seeking Bantamweights to help fill out the newest Division and possibly gain entry into our 8-man Title Tourney. If you have anyone available, pls pm boss tarsun or myself so we can get them under contract asap.
  20. nice card, should do boffo box office and provide us with some great fights. go, Terror!!
  21. AOC Herald, V. 0.1 We gotta lotta catchin up to do, fight fans, as the Art of Conflict has been rolling out the events faster than life’s giving me moments to document them. On top of my 5 am to 2 pm lumber dept. managerial duties, I’ve recently been hired to produce a music demo for a co-worker which has taken a major chunk out of my remaining day. Due to the fact it’s going to pay our hydro bill for the rest of the year, the Herald‘s had to take a back seat but rest assured I’ve been chipping way when able and now present you with the various pieces in a brand new format. AOC32: Against All Odds highlights Following up on the results of the matches we’d hyped in our most recent preview, AOC32 saw WW Fabio Huerta using a methodically boring display of ground skills to move to 7-3 with a unanimous decision over Poe Edgar (6-4). LHW K. Teverdosky (8-6) recorded a career resurrecting, split decision win over a disgruntled Scott Baker (5-3), who was bellowing “REMATCH” afterwards to any member of the press carrying a microphone. HW Dizzle Dadude (6-0) made quick work of ground specialist, Frency Fuqua (2-3), reminding him that you need to avoid strikes before you can secure a takedown. WW Stevee Cee bumps his record to (5-2) at the expense of Stan Jonathan (5-2) by taking the Bulldog down and keeping him there (yawn). Former LW Champ, Peter Cabreros (6-2) returned to his winning ways by violently welcoming willie QUICK PHISH (5-2) to the AOC with a TKO before the one minute mark. Then in our Main Event, we had a battle of belt holders from other orgs, as WW Dewayne Jennings (10-4) bested Junie Silva (9-4-1), putting on a highly skilled stand-up display while avoiding any serious damage when Junie got the takedowns. Winning this showdown turns DJ Aggro’s wait for a shot at the Welterweight Champ into a matter of when, instead of if. Head office wasn’t doing carwheels over the abominable event rating of 76.87 but we managed to squeeze a tidy profit that we plan on donating to Ducks Unlimited to help clean up the Gulf coast. It didn’t help matters when recently signed FA, HW Ron Fuller failed to show for his fight, as he reportedly ended up sunbathing on the Riviera. After receiving an earfull, his new management team has assured us they won’t confuse Montreal with Monaco ever again and Ronnie will be back in action with the org in short order. Friendly AOC greets to the newest members of our team: LHW Axel Crushin HW Igor Yaroslavovich FW Jose Rizal LHW Chris Thompson BW James Max And company faves who’ve just re-signed with us: HW Champ Jeff Kennedy LW Champ Kenny Wood LHW Hank Hall LW Peter Cabreros MW Mibu Kiyoshiro FW Don Hall LHW Lispen Familia MW Schoonie Singleton LHW Elliot Corbeil AOC33 FWP: No Guts No Glory recap * MW Chester “Quick Kick” Carlson (7-3) Decisions Schoonie “U-Turn” Singleton (3-2) (Unanimous): Another top contender for Singleton and the poor kid’s W/L record‘s taken a u-turn as he’s now dropped two in a row. Carlson showed no mercy on this night, landing kicks and punches all over Schoonie over all 3 rounds to earn a resounding decision. Career-wise, he needed that while Singleton needs an opponent who fits more within his skill set to get his mojo back. FIGHT RATING 44% * WW Luigi “No Guns” Beretta (4-3) Decisions Martin St Louis (1-1) (Unanimous): One of the strangest things I’ve seen here is the Black belt, St. Louis scoring a takedown off the opening bell and not attempt a submission before the ref stood them back up. Even stranger was he didn’t try for a single submission on the other two occasions he was able to score the t/d and threw a total of 1 ground strike in between`. Pardon me while I continue scratching my head… FIGHT RATING 21% * FW Vlad “The impaler” Tepes (2-2) Decisions Billy “No” Mates (1-2) (Unanimous): After watching these two give er the ol’ college try in the first round of our recent FW Pride tourney, I looked forward to seeing how they matched up against each other. Second big surprise of the evening was watching the remarkable Boxer, Mates, repeatedly try to takedown Tepes. On the four occasions that he was successful, all he did was get beat up by Vladdie the wonderful Wrestler- doh! FIGHT RATING 54% * MW Hadley Jagger (6-3) Submits Dave Grohl (5-7) (Kimura) 3:55 of rd. 1: Here we had two fighters heading in opposite directions, as Jagger’s now earned a 3 fight winning streak trophy while Grohl’s dropped his last 3 and finds his record heading south in a hurry. In Jagger, we have a Black belt who knows what to do with it, as all 3 of his recent wins have come via submissions and he now finds himself near the top of the Middleweight heap, with a Title shot in the offing. After another dismal performance, I’m thinking Grohl should consider going back to basics- playing the drums. FIGHT RATING 54% * LW "Robber Baron" Robert Nicholas (3-2) Decisions Francis "First Nation Sensation" Highway (1-2) (Unanimous): This match turned out to be real lopsided, with fans in attendance not sure if Nicholas was that good or Highway that bad. The latter went for 11 takedowns, hitting the target only once and then much like Billy Mates before him, did nothing but get pummelled when finding success. Highway showed a lot of heart and granite chin in going the distance but without some complimentary offensive skills, all that’ll getcha is unanimous decision Losses. FIGHT RATING 27% $ FW Stevie “the Whirlwind” Walker (6-2) Decisions Tony “Ironman” Stark (5-6) (Unanimous): Easy explanation for Walker’s perplexing propensity to clinch/break clinch- maxed out me had gotten half way through setting his tactics when the fight went off. With low morale going in, Stark was a shadow of his former self, rocked off the bell and unable to get going afterwards. Impressed everyone with his ability to survive but will need some time off to regroup after his second demoralizing defeat in a row. FIGHT RATING 97% $ FW Don Hall (6-3) Decisions Darren “3rd Degree” Burns (5-7) (Unanimous): Two long-time AOC Lightweights decided to see who was the badder man at 145 and Hall showed us why he was able to become Champ in their previous weightclass. He came out real strong and managed to stay busier through much of the fight to earn the nod from the judges. There was no quit in Burns, however and even though his record’s been skewed by some tough match ups of late, we look forward to seeing him pull off some upsets in the near future. FIGHT RATING 31% * LW Mark “The Maniac” Brown (6-2) TKO’s Heikki Heijari (1-2) (Punches) 0:46 of rd. 1: It took 7 fights for us to record a stoppage due to strikes, certainly a record in my time here. Heijari’s manager was obviously wearing his rose coloured glasses when he looked over the contract offer for this match, as only an eternal optimist would sign on the dotted line. Brown doesn’t gain much in the way of hype or experience but his record sure looks better in the Division rankings and it was a memorable TKO that you only get from the bounce back that comes from a ring‘s ropes. FIGHT RATING 45% $ FW Title Lyle "Duracell" Alzado (8-3) Decisions Nag "Rakshasa" Hambukoo (7-1) (Unanimous): There may be many Featherweight Champs in the AOC’s future but there can only be one first, an honour Lyle Alzado will always have on his resume. He was the darkhorse firing on all cylinders throughout this fantastic tournament, saving his best for last. Landing 182 punches and precisely half of his 62 combinations thrown while receiving a total of 3 in return, he grabbed the bull by the horns and broke it‘s neck. Hambukoo didn’t know what hit him, and hit him, and... to the point that he couldn‘t wait for the fight to end so he could get back to striking defence class. The other key for the grizzled vet, Alzado, was his takedown defence, as he stuffed all 6 of Nag’s attempts which allowed him to proceed with the punching clinic and earn himself a second Title in his now illustrious career. FIGHT RATING 67% $ WW Title Bruce Wayne vrs Abdullah Maleh, Draw: AOC fans were not happy campers when this verdict was rendered, as they felt their reliable hero, Bruce Wayne won this battle but that politics somehow came into play with the judges’ decision. Somebody tell these conspiracy theorists that this ain’t Capitol Hill in Washington and questionable verdicts here are usually related to one or more of the judges over indulging in the free beer backstage. Batman clearly won the stand-up war, while Maleh had the advantage in the clinch but there were far fewer strikes thrown in the latter than former. So you would assume Abdullah would have had his way with Wayne on the ground but he didn’t do anything of note there unless you score major points for improving your position and surviving submission attempts. Not surprisingly, the instant talk of a rematch to settle this once and for all has already been signed, with both camps promising that no judges will be required. FIGHT RATING 80% Cause’s Unconventional Awards for AOC33 FWP: No Guts No Glory Nickname of the Night: Lyle “Duracell“ Alzado, lived up to the billing. Folding Chair Award: Martin St. Louis, zero submission attempts? Up & Comer Trophy: Robert Nicholas, hopefully his manager returns to read the good news! Even though most of the fights rated out poorly, the Event rating was an awesome 109.20 so that was nice to see after the previous steep dip. Revenue was right in line with what you’d like to see so it’s smooth sailing for us right now in terms of offering your fighters top contracts if they‘ve earned it during their stay here or elsewhere. Whatever happened to: WW Georges “Rush” StPierre? You vets will remember me slagging this guy for gassing out on his way to the cage, well his manager finally packed it in and I’m happy to report Georges has taken up beach volleyball in the Bahamas and is doing well now that he finally has 100% energy. Cause’s “Don’t Believe the Hype” Top 5 (as of June 24, ‘10) Heavyweights 1. “The Malice” Jeff Kennedy (10-1) 2. “Animal” Frank McGrath (7-1) 3. Bruce “Hulk” Banner (7-3) 4. Dizzle “Holla At” Dadue (6-0) 5. John “Uncle Buck” Candy (4-0) Looking in: Cool McCold, Azizmullah Khabukthakar, Big D. Lightheavyweights 1. Joe “The Spark” Clark (8-2) 2. Hank Hall (7-1) 3. Skwisgaar "The Swedish Assassin" Skwigelf (6-2) 4. Arthur Eld (8-3) 5. Oderus Masatoshi (5-2-1) Looking in: Lispen Familia, Axel Crushin, Lazaro Casanova, Krystof Teverdosky. Middleweights 1. Semi “Spida” Silva (7-0-1) 2. Keijo Sardiini (8-4) 3. “Superfly” Jimmy Snuka (4-0-1) 4. Hadley Jagger (6-3) 5. Chester “Quick Kick” Carlson (7-3) Looking in: Abula Babu, Shaun Maddox, Salvador Dali and the winner of Durden/Elkins. Welterweights 1. Bruce “Batman” Wayne (7-0-1) 2. Abdullah Maleh (10-2-1) 3. “DJ Aggro” Dewayne Jennings (10-4) 4. "The Demon-God" Mibu Kyoshiro (5-0) 5. Bill "The Bomber" Bradski (9-5) Looking in: Junie Silva, Baby Firefly, Jorge Serptentino, Stevee Cee. Lightweights 1. Kenny Wood (7-1) 2. "Diabinho Bruno Da Silva (5-1-1) 3. Peter “The Punisher” Cabreros (6-2) 4. Mark “The Maniac” Brown (6-2) 5. Amadeus Astra (6-4) Looking in: JF Houle, willie QUICKPHISH, Ricky Young. Featherweights 1. Seth Bryce (8-3) 2. Lyle Alzado (8-3) 3. Nag Hambukoo (7-1) 4. Stevie Walker (6-2) 5. Don Hall (6-3) Looking in: Vincent Smyth, Abbath Occulta, Snatches O Coolahand. And we haven’t signed enough studs yet to rate the Bantamweights. Reminding me to mention- if you have any fighters able to join that new Division of ours, please send a pm to boss tarsun at your earliest covenience so we can try to bring him on board. Also worth noting, plans are afoot to open up the AOC Hall of Fame now that we’ve built up enough history and helped promote some great fighters who’ve managed to become famous. Submit your nominations to the AOC Herald office for ballot consideration, no, they can‘t be part of your stable. That’s a lengthy it for now, folks, with AOC34 going into the books last night and AOC35: Heavy Grind, featuring Kennedy/McGrath due to hit the fan in three days, we’ll combine proper reviews of both for the next edition of the Herald. Lots more cards are set past that so stay tuned to Art of Conflict for some of the best mma match-ups Montreal has to offer.
  22. (from the better late than never file- forgot to post this one last week) AOC31: Absolute Knock Out recap plus AOC32: Against All Odds preview from Cause McDubree/AOC Herald As we bounce from our greatest event in AOC history, we see the pendulum's swung full circle on the revenue side, as we barely broke even with Absolute Knock Out. So our Christmas bonuses aren’t going to be quite as big, we’ll still grow with an event rating that tops 100 (again) and many of our winners benefit greatly with early stoppages. Precisely half of the 10 fights garnered 100% ratings and a couple of the low ones deserved much better so we’re definitely trending in the right direction when it comes down to what matters. Speaking of which, let’s seque to the action before we get too carried away with the amped up lead-in… * FW Snatches O Coolahand (2-0) Decisions Damacio "The Angel Of Death" Page (1-1) (Unanimous): Looking at the striking stats, you’d guess wrong on which fighter holds the wonderful level Boxing. Merely respectable, Snatches likes to throw punches in bunches and did a commendable job of staying busy through much of the 3 rounds. Page likely needs better instructions from his corner next time out as the tools appear to be there but other than his granite chin, they weren’t being utilized properly. FIGHT RATING 52% * LHW Cyborb Slice (1-1) Submits Josh Joslin (1-1) (Kimura) 2:30 of rd. 1: Though it didn’t last long, this was an exciting battle between two of the latest additions to our freshmen class. Cyborb was able to secure the takedown/submission after displaying some great striking defence yet still ended up with a bad cut from a Joslin uppercut. That spurred him on to get the fight to the ground, where Joslin looked like a side of beef and less than a minute later, the fat lady was singing. FIGHT RATING 100% * LW Amadeus Astra (6-4) Submits "The Exorcist" Corey Cormier (9-13) (Armbar) 3:35 of rd. 1: Coming into this one after losing 2 of his last 3, the highly skilled Astra needed a win real bad and couldn’t have asked for a better opponent to help him in that regard. In case you missed it, the only thing I like about Cormier now that he’s reached the unlucky 13 Loss mark is his entrance song. FIGHT RATING 69% $ LHW Skwisgaar "The Swedish Assassin" Skwigelf (6-2) Decisions Oderus Masatoshi (5-2-1) (Unanimous): Even Masatoshi’s mom agreed he lost this one, as recent signing and strangely named, Skwigelf was able to take him down at will and pound the urine out of him over all 3 rounds. Oderus has earned a reputation as a dangerous puncher around these parts but hadn’t met anyone with Skwiggy’s brand of striking defence, as he struck air on all 15 of his stand up strikes as well as the 6 combinations. Frustrating? hell ya, as you could see that condemned prisoner look slowly appear on his face as the beating wore on. Based on this ultra-impressive result, the Swede is the most deserving of the next Title shot, we’ll have to see if the AOC matchmaker‘s in agreement. FIGHT RATING 100% $ LHW Arthur Eld (8-3) TKO’s Lispen “TD” Familia (7-3) (Strikes) 0:18 of rd. 1: Once again we see vintage Eld when there’s not a lot at stake, as he cut Familia after the opening bell and kept on swinging until the ref stepped in. TD’s had two chances now at positioning himself as a #1 LHW contender and he’s been stopped in the 1st round both times. He did not have it goin on against Eld, did not throw a punch and could not make him miss- a quinella for the vanquished! According to back room whisperings that made their way to the water cooler, next up for Arthur could be the power punching, Masatoshi. FIGHT RATING 100% $ MW Keijo "Ylimielinen" Sardiini (8-4) TKO’s Xavier Belial (8-8) (Punches) 0:44 of rd. 1: Sardiini’s first foray into the MW Division was hugely successful, as he was still able to do what he does best- drop big shots on his opponents until they‘re laid flat. Ignore his first two career fights where he was overmatched in the Quickfight circuit and his record reads 8-2, with both Losses coming to Welterweight kingpin, Bruce Wayne. So it’s understandable that some feathers were ruffled when he was passed over for a Title shot in favour of highly touted newcomer, Jimmy Snuka, but as long as Keijo manages to win his next bout, the winner of Silva/Snuka should await. One thing’s becoming abundantly clear with Belial- he can dish it out but he can’t take it. FIGHT RATING 100% * WW Bill “The Bomber” Bradski (9-5) KO’s Jorge “Massa” Serptentino (3-2) (Head Kick) 0:09 of rd. 1: Look out Welterweights, Bill Bradski wants to let you know he’s in the AOC now and he has zero interest in winning decisions. I’m sure Serptentino’s camp we’re thinking they’d be facing a so-so veteran on the downside of his career when the signed on, instead they got a hungry beast who’s still in his prime. The Bomber saw the opening in Jorge’s lazy defence and with his advanced physicals, was able to capitalize to full effect. He should be facing top competition from here on out with the fearsome, Mibu Kyoshiro, likely his next opponent. FIGHT RATING 28% * FW Seth Bryce (8-3) TKO’s Vincent "The BALCO Labz Project" Smyth (Strikes) 2:38 of rd. 1: Hooray, Seth Bryce finally gets to fight for us! Poor guy signed on for our FW Tourney 2 hours after the brackets had been set and has been waiting ever since to find an opponent willing to get in the cage with him. Props to Vincent Smyth for showing up but as everyone expected, he hasn’t developed far enough to seriously press a fighter with a resume like Bryce’s. Vince was certainly game and did score a takedown early on but couldn’t control the position and met his end shortly after Bryce got back up. I’ll be shocked if Bryce doesn’t get first crack at our soon to be crowned Featherweight Champion and whoever that is had best bring their A game against him. FIGHT RATING 100% * LW JF "Bozzoul" Houle (4-1) Submits Mark MacLeod (6-7) (Kneebar) 2:21 of rd. 2: Turned out to be great night for recent signings, as another fresh face knotches his first Win with us in his AOC debut. The well rounded Bozz looked very comfortable against the far more experienced MacLeod, bringing the fight to the ground at opportune moments where he held a distinct advantage. MM wasted far too much energy throwing errant combo’s, landing only 2 of 16 and needs to pick up either his escapes or offence on the ground because just lying there is not the answer. FIGHT RATING 68% $ LW Kenny Wood (7-1) Decisions Bruno Da Silva (5-1-1) (Unanimous): There were more than a few tears flowing when the ring announcer bellowed; annnnnd NEW- LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION- KENNY wwwWOOD! as many of Kenny’s family & friends from Hamilton had made there way down to the cage to celebrate his hard fought win over the still developing Da Silva. This beef boiled down to GnP vrs. BJJ and Wood’s 41/52 ground strikes are what won over the judges and earned him the first 4 rounds on all of their scorecards. Not to mention evading 32 submission attempts from Da Silva, which allowed him to keep dropping the hammer. Bruno’s people can take consolation in the fact he was able to see his way through hell and come back to win the last round. With that gritty effort he told everyone in attendance we haven’t seen the last of this kid. FIGHT RATING 94% Cause’s Unconventional Awards for AOC 31: Absolute Knock Out Nickname of the Night: Bill “The Bomber“ Bradski, straight forward old school. Folding Chair Award: Lispen Familia, looked like he belonged at Madame Tusaud’s. Up & Comer Trophy: JF Houle, glad I noticed this guy in the Free Agent pool! Hey, only one day passed my self-imposed deadline and we’re ready to press send, the Herald delivery’s become almost reliable! Had to cut out from work early with “lower back issues” to get there but I could use a lil’ extra rest and you folks deserve your write-ups in a more timely fashion. AOC32: Against All Odds preview Coming up this Wednesday we proudly present; Against All Odds, as the AOC makes it’s triumphant return to the Underground after violently conquering much larger venues. I can tell that when the fights for this card were first proposed, there were quite a few that looked lopsided on the surface, hence the Event name. However, due to understandable refusals and a couple offers that went unanswered, we were left with only a few longshots to get behind. With no Titles on the line, ticket’s are nonetheless likely gone, as the Art of Conflict brand has become synonymous with Great Fights in Montreal. Some of the contests with top contender implications include: WW Poe “Allan” Edgar (6-3) vrs "The Phantom" Fabio Huerta (6-3): both newcomers with identical records, one is going to be another fight or two from a Title op while the loser prepares for his role as gatekeeper. The primary’s say go with Poe (no relation to Frankie).. LHW Scott Baker (5-2) vrs Krystof "Shark Attack" Teverdosky (7-6): two more seasoned fighters make their AOC debut against one another, with Baker the hot favorite with the local bookies. Make or break time for Teverdosky (no relation to Oleg), as he gets a fresh start with us and a win here will vault him up the divisional hype chart. HW Dizzle “Holla At” Dadude (5-0) vrs “Sneaky” Frenchy Fuqua (2-2): Dadude has a lot more to lose than gain here, as the expected Win does not earn him a Title shot and an upset Loss sends his team back to the drawingboard. With his last 4 wins coming via T/KO though, there doesn’t appear to much concern over the rapidly developing, Fuqua. WW "The Wonderful" Stevee Cee (4-2) vrs Stan "Bulldog" Jonathan (5-1): it’s a mid-tier, Welterweight eliminator, as the fast rising Cee faces a dangerous striker in the Bulldog. On paper, it’s Jonathan all day but he refuses to budge from the conditioning gym so his secondaries won’t be scaring anyone. Meanwhile, Stevee’s at all the best gyms $600 will buy which is why his ‘feeble’ strikes keep knocking people silly. LW Peter “The Punisher” Cabreros (5-2) vrs willie QUICK PHISH (5-1): looking at his hype, you can only imagine the procession of stiffs that have been fed to Slick willie to compile those 5 Wins but hey, it’s not his job to arrange ‘em. All that will be forgotten with a victory over former LW Champ, Cabreros, who’s been training harder than ever and will provide QP his toughest test to date... by far. WW "DJ Aggro" Dewayne Jennings (9-4) vrs Junie Silva (9-3): two Champions from outside org’s meet in their new home to determine which of them deserves a chance to dethrone Welterweight poohbah, Bruce Wayne (should he survive the impending onslaught from Maleh). If you haven’t noticed, this must-follow Division has become incredibly competitive of late and it’s signings like the above mentioned that’ve made all the difference. So that’s it for now, cherished readers, be sure and stay tuned to the AOC Herald for all your notewory happenings both inside the cage and from the backrooms as well as inside scoops on what might unfold in the near future. Friendly reminder of the week: if your fighter’s having trouble making his premium gym fees, we’re not paying him enough so send us a pm so we can renegotiate a better deal for him.
  23. Press release from former SFO, SHW Champion, Igor "Rat-a-tat" Tatov: I'm very sorry to all my family and fans for poorest performance ever in my life last night and lose Title I work so hard to get, making for day of mourning in greatest backwater nation of Belarus. Giving big credit to Slice for fighting so good while I'm having problem with new instructions for countering him and not doing usual Tatov thing. I'm telling them between rounds how hard for me to counter when getting punched all the time but them saying no changing tactics now, we having to stick with them to bitter end. Ya, very bitter, bro- wake up like I slept with lemon in mouth all night, body beat up like hell and heart feeling worst of all. This guy was much better than my camp tell me in lead up to fight, so I'm always training ground or clinch not striking defence or takedowns which I'm thinking would be good thing for Kimbo. That's water under bridge now so I'm got to start long climb back with daily clothing change to fix broken morale. Get back in gym and train things to beat Cain Marko, who they telling me would make good statement fight for winner and bring in lot of fans to buy tickets. One thing for sure, whoever I'm fight, Boss Cause is telling Igor to go back to his natural style with more aggression and accuracy... making me feel better already!
  24. AOC30 FW Pride: Final Four recap from Cause McDubree/AOC Herald Ever tardy but always worth the wait, we’ve returned once again to tell it like it was, just for the record and AOC30 set a number of them for this ever burgeoning org. Let’s put it this way; we’ve had plenty of great numbers roll in since AOC20 where bihom and myself would bounce a few paragraphs back & forth on the upward trajectory. After this spectacular card, we exchanged maybe 10 words between us. Can’t speak for him but I was essentially dumbfounded; event rating of 125.54 while falling an ideal 50 or fewer asses short of selling out a 2,000 capacity venue. This tells us advertising did a bang up job and the ticket price was right. (but not too right). As for our latest battles, upset was the word of the night, so let’s get to it and find out who managed to pull them off… * LW Bill “Biv” Dafoe (2-3-1) TKO’s DJ “The Eulogy” Penncil (2-3) (Strikes): STOP THE PRESSES- DAFOE LANDS STRIKES! For the first time in his ignomious career, Biver’s corner gave him the green light to keep it standing and he knotched his first stoppage as way of saying thanks. DJ should be ashamed of himself. * FW “Juke” Juvius Ledford (1-0) Submits David “vampire” khan (0-1) (Kimura) 1:52 of rd. 1: Neither of these greenhorns were interested in duking it out and Ledford was clearly the more advanced grappler. After surviving two early submission attemps, he ended khan’s evening with his first response to them, leading us to believe he's got ground game. * MW Shaun Maddox (4-0) Submits Deamon Beat (4-3) (Armbar) 4:34 of rd. 1: Maddox keeps his doubters looking dumb, as he did his dog with a bone impression with his BJJ skills until Deamon had enough. Although I jumped off the Beat bandwagon awhile back and am still waiting for him to invite me back on, he is a legitimate veteran who was dispatched like all the rest- mediocre striking be damned. * WW "Demon-God" Mibu Kyoshiro (5-0) Dec. Maxwell "Canadian Express" Pappin (7-3) (Unan.): Pappin wins the boobie prize for ending Kyoshiro’s KO streak at 3 but he inflicted absolutely no damage during the 15 minutes while getting rocked on a couple of occasions and pounded throughout. Can’t figure why the Express would go for 24 takedowns and then not try to get any offence going on the 5 occasions he was successful- it must be a new martial art that hasn’t fully developed, yet. * MW Salvador “Papillonn” Dali (10-10) Submits Abula "Habula" Babu (7-3) (Armbar) 3 04:58: In what his manager’s dubbing the early favorite for AOC Upset of the Year, Dali managed to do what Beelzebub himself confirmed he had no hope in hell of accomplishing. The shocking victory comes at the expense of one our highly hyped newcomers who had knocked Dali out not long ago and other than the jiu-jitsu slip up, totally dominated him here. Even though it was a momentum killing loss, much of Babu’s career still lies ahead and I’m sure we’ll see improvements in his defensive grappling next time out. It will be interesting to see how Sal builds on this win or if it’s a bright blip on his slow fade off the radar. * WW “SFO.1” Steve Fighter (4-1) Submits Shane “The Dagger” Richards (3-2) (Armbar) 3:24 of rd. 3: The SFO honcho’s winning streak with the WW Steve’s (it’s a George Foreman thing) continues, as the Dagger dug himself a hole with sloppy striking and no ground game. Fighter wasn’t nearly as active while they were standing but his percentages had him landing more blows than Richards by the time the ref called a stop to it. Once again Steve F. showed great instincts and seems intent on making a name for himself here at the Art of Conflict. * HW John “Uncle Buck” Candy (4-0) KO’s Big D (6-4) (Punch) 1:18 of rd. 1: Wow, we knew Candy was good but now we know he’s ready for the upper tier of Heavyweights, as KO’ing a former Champ like Big D that early in the fight speaks volumes about this kid’s development. D could not take him down and had no answer for JC’s impressive striking abilities, eating shots until he was levelled by an incredible uppercut that sent him to the hospital for a catscan. Like I said; Wow- Uncle Buck‘s flying up the charts like a new single from Black Eyed Peas.. * Nag “Rakshasa” Hambukoo (7-0) TKO’s Tony “Iron Man” Stark (5-5) (Kick & Punches) 2:13 of rd. 2: Nag’s underwhelming debut with us appears to have been an aberation, as he clearly won the standup war and totally obliterated my tournament sleeper pick on the ground. Tony’s striking wasn’t as fluid as we’ve seen lately and it cost him dearly as Hambukoo took him out to the shed. Our first marquee signing now moves on to the Finals, where he’s certain to be a favorite with the bookmakers after this show stopping performance. The pressure’s all in his corner however, as he’s putting the perfect record on the line and most of the pundits had him pegged to win at the outset. * Lyle “Duracell” Alzado (7-3) (Decisions Stevie Walker (5-2) (Unanimous): No questions, Alzado was the betterr fighter on this night and officially adopts the darkhorse role, coming out of nowhere to being a step from our freshly minted Featherweight belt. He earned the right with a slick display of stand up, dishing out regular doses of leather while avoiding most of the overly aggressive, damage oriented strikes from Walker, who could only score effectively during their infrequent clinches. There were also long stretches on the canvas where Alzado rattled off a succession of submission attempts that kept Walker on the defensive at all times. Surving them was the only other consolation for the Whirlwind besides coming alive after 19 minutes and bringing the crowd to it’s feet with a heroic attempt at a late stoppage. * Joe ”The Spark” Clark (8-2) Decisions Hank Hall (7-1) (Unanimous): Since getting KO’d by Hall in 12 seconds way back at AOC 14, Joe Clark has been a fighter on a mission. Finally earning a rematch after putting together a 3 fight win streak, it looked like déjà vu all over again when he was cut in the furst 30 seconds but that about as good as things got for Hall. The Spark caught fire shortly afterwards and ended up delivering an insane 112/117 head shots and 53/57 to the body during the straight stand up exchanges then 25/25 head and 22.23 to the body when they clinched. They’ve now added a new descriptive for Hank’s ability to take a punch- titanium chin. Rumours were rampant that the former Champ was dealing with a stomach virus leading up to the fight and it would help explain his lethargic performance but he offered no excuses afterwards, offering only that it was Clark’s night. Just stumbled across the fact AOC31 went off tonight, not Sunday like I thought so wrap up, unconventional awards, pasting in the fight ratings, editing- it all ain’t happenin tonight, gang. Too busy shifting gears to take in that card so we can report on the results and keep everyone up to speed on who’s climbing and falling in this great org of ours. We’re aiming to be back with the latest review before sleep time Sunday so stay tuned, keep training and thanks to all who made this by far our greatest card ever!
