  1. It's a shame the Fight Network channel closed because now with the boom of MMA in the UK they could have very good ratings now
  2. I've had a look on Bravo but no luck. It doesn't even appear to be on tomorrow on a tape delay. Anyone know if any TV station is going to show it
  3. Am I the only one who views this as really good picks. Surely TUF is about the future of the sport learning from people who have fought at the top. You can not argue that Liddell and Ortiz are major players in the history of MMA. I'd rather have these 2 people teaching the future of MMA and suffer through 1 bad 2 minute slug fest then have another season of awful coaching.
  4. To be honest if it was live it would of been very late saturday night. I would have most likely recorded it then watch it Sunday evening anyway because of prior engagements Sunday morning/afternoon so it doesn't make a whole lot of difference to me. Perhaps this is just a feeler for Bravo to test the waters before jumping in head first with a big live tv deal
  5. The title makes it sound to official but basically Strikeforce is going to be shown on Bravo. In the advertisement they where hyping Fedor vs Rogers so I guess that it will be the live event Sunday. Not really got more information then that. Sunday at 9 PM is all I got
  6. The fight itself was possibly the worst fight i've ever seen. Utter carp (that's not a typo)
  7. Surely you guys should of learnt by now to never bet against Whitaker. The man's a machiene
  8. Happy to have both fighters in this org although I am running cardio and weight training with them so not sure if they will be ready for first card. Will depend on how fast they pop and how quick someone starts selling nutitirion in Hilo
  9. I've heard a few people discuss this and I really feel it is something that could do with a look at. Ultimately I would like to see Gym's have the ability to set up private sessions along with Manager's being able to get 2 of their fighters in the same gym to spare together. I'm certain that in real life, camps would have their own fighters sparring with eachother rather then just leaving it up to a pool of 22 fighters.
  10. I like to reserve judgement but Jon Madsen did look good but for a heavyweight I think he seemed to lack finishing power. Although, I'm sure some refs would have stopped that fight due to the amount of blood on show
  11. The website runs on a mySQL database that will be constantly changing. Every time someone does anything on the website be that send a message or change a fighters training the database is updated. So creating a backup while needed is not so helpful for smaller problems like this. For Mike to restore the backup to before the problem it would also reset everything in the database to the last backup. So basically anyone who has done anything after the time of the backup would lose it.
  12. I brought WMMA 2 yesterday what can I say what an awsome game. Anyone who plays this should definatly check it out
  13. Mistake betting against my boy Whitaker. Most of you backed a guy that only lasted 18 seconds with my fighter let's not make that mistake again hum
  14. To be honest I wouldn't be coming near an MMA forum if I hadn't seen the event and didn't want to know the results. Same way that if I have recorded the football I don't go anywhere near the pub. It's the same concept
  15. I have seen it a bit but never to this extreme and in a title fight as well. Tiko trained hard and he popped several times in defensive grappling and if you look at the amount of sub attempts he stopped with his white belt in BJJ he deserved to see a second round. The other fighter was just spamming subs on the ground and surely if you attempt 14 different subs in 9 minutes you would gas. It really needs looking at because it's not really worth developing a stand up fighter with good defensive ground game. Here is my suggestion: Take the amount of energy lost for failed takedown and submissions and times the number by about 3x. I understand that some people can have high cardio but it is all too common and the fix isn't that complex. Match
  16. http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y153/pcwnet/ww.png Here is the belt for my org
  17. I believe going on ESPN is a bad move tbh. There ratings could be much higher on Sky Sports or a more main stream channel.
  18. Affliction Entertainment has ceased all promotional efforts effective immediately, and has hashed out a deal to become a brand sponsor for its former rival, the UFC. Yahoo Sports first reported of the industry shake-up, which Sherdog.com also confirmed with numerous sources. UFC President Dana White remained elusive on the subject during an interview with ESPN Radio 1100 in Las Vegas. “Affliction hasn’t made any real comment yet [on its future],” White said. “These guys are good at making clothes. We’re in the fight business. That’s what we do. There’s going to be a lot of interesting things happening over the next couple of weeks.” White, however, hinted at plans for a major press conference on July 31. “There are going to be a lot of crazy things,” White said. “I’m going to have a laundry list of things I’m going to mention.” Affliction, which co-promoted two events with M-1 Global in July 2008 and January 2009, cancelled its Aug. 1 show on Friday morning, roughly 60 hours after it got word that Josh Barnett would not be licensed by the California State Athletic Commission to face Fedor Emelianenko in the main event due to an alleged positive pre-test for steroids. The sudden about-face has left 22 fighters left to scramble for new assignments. M-1 Global represents Emelianenko as both a promoter and management team. Representatives from M-1 Global, all en route to the U.S. on Friday, could not be reached for comment. In exchange for ad space on the coveted Octagon and its fighters, it was reported that Affliction had agreed to cease all promoting operations. The same deal was presented to Affliction last October, but was rejected by at least one of the company’s executives, said a source who was close to the negotiations. Affliction began its relationship with the UFC in 2006, sponsoring fighters to wear its popular brand at events. The two companies then fell out over business practices and Affliction entered the fight game as a promoter. The clothing brand was promptly banned as a sponsor at UFC events. Very similar to the last news article but this confirms the end of Affliction. Several important annoucements from White are coming soon. With Fedor out of contract we can only hope.
  19. A week of misfortune turned to disaster for Affliction Entertainment on Friday, as the promotion canceled Affliction “Trilogy,” which had been scheduled for Aug. 1 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. “Finding an opponent for the number one-ranked MMA heavyweight champion in such a short period of time was a huge endeavor, and I’m thrilled at the amount of fighters willing to take on this challenge,” Affliction Entertainment Vice President Tom Atencio said in a news release. “But in the end, we just didn’t have enough time to promote a new fight to our standards.” SI.com reported the news first Friday morning, and Sherdog.com confirmed shortly after. The cancellation -- which could spell the end of Affliction's year-long run as a mixed martial arts promotion -- comes on the heels of heavyweight Josh Barnett's failed drug test, which forced him out of the “Trilogy” main event against Fedor Emelianenko on Wednesday. Barnett, 32, tested positive for a banned anabolic steroid and was denied licensure by the California State Athletic Commission. Promoters scrambled to find a replacement opponent for Emelianenko and reportedly considered middleweight Vitor Belfort, light heavyweight prospect Muhammed Lawal and heavyweights Brett Rogers, Paul Buentello, Jeff Monson and Bobby Lashley. Atencio declined to comment further when reached by Sherdog.com. Do you think that this moves the Fedor to UFC contract further forward because this really looks like the end for Affliction. Although if I was Affliction i'd sue Barnett for every penny he has
  20. On firefox press your middle mouse button on the forum button. Not sure for other browsers
  21. Having a team doctor is an awsome idea
  22. If he is swinging bombs and your hitting jabs and accuarate shots then he is more likely to knock you out
  23. The problem I find with BJJ or Muay Tai is that it can be counter quite easily so on its own that style will not make a good fighter. However, a wrestler can be fairly effective standing up or on the ground.
  24. With just 3 days to go until his big 3rd Round fighter Shane Whitaker had this to say: "Well after my previous oppoent stuffed his face with cream cakes to avoid fighting me I've got to say I am a bit pissed to hear that my oppoent in 3 days is going to fail to make weight. I think it is totally unprofessional and unacceptable of both the fighters and the owner to book fighters who can't make weight. I suppose this works in my advantage that by the time I actually fight someone who can make weight I will be well rested but I can't say I am happy about the situation."
