  1. You talked me into it too, jbrook. I'd like in. Please sign me up.
  2. I was expecting the wrong winner in both the main event and the co-main, but very happy with being wrong.
  3. Snake? Snake? SSSNNNAAAAAAKE! No position on the fight, actually, but I had to get that out.
  4. Can I bring my fleas with me to my shack? Or will there be a no pets policy?
  5. The issues are the issues. Voting on anything else is doing it wrong. If your only goal is to upset the establishment and you don't really care if anything gets done at all, you would do just as well to elect a monkey. The monkey would likely do just as good a job of cleaning up corruption, too, considering Paul's do-nothing attitude about the role of government. Besides, It seems to me he takes money from a lot of the same people everyone else in Washington does. I assert that Paul's lack of coverage is a symptom of his fringe status, not the cause. If, as it seems to me you suggest, how fringe he is should be irrelevant the same logic would require the media should give this guy equal coverage to the others since democracy requires you give everyone that's running for president camera time no matter how doomed they are. Ya got me there.
  6. Ron Paul is sidelined in the media because, outside of being pro peace and free-trade, anti-war and nominally anti-immigration, many of his ideas are unpalatable in mainstream politics. He has expressed disdain for a few tried, true and well-liked institutions in the U.S. such as Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, the VA, the Department of Education, the Civil Rights Acts, and so on. Hence, to most moderates he only sounds reasonable when he's denouncing military interventionism abroad or gross overspending on military r&d. This makes him irrelevant, since the vast majority of his domestic policy positions have him stuck running in a republican party which at it's core seeks to favor those things generally. The media continues to brush him off as an only mildly entertaining sidenote in the American political grotesquerie because that is exactly the appropriate thing to do with him.
  7. I predict at least a couple upsets for some can-crushers from Rio. Ferrari for one looks like he has a history of struggling against opponents he should beat easily.
  8. I don't even care about flyweights in real life...
  9. I about died when Marcus tried to explain, "White-girl-wasted."
  10. I like Maia or Belcher for Bisping's next opponent, too, if he's to fight on Fox #2. I'd definitely like to see those fights, at least. Between the two, I'd prefer to see Belcher, since my opinion is that will make for the better fight and the UFC wouldn't have to risk getting stuck with a lot of pressure to book a rematch of the most boring title fight of the decade if Bisping loses to Maia. Not a fan of Bisping(and that has nothing to do with his personality), but I think he's earned an opponent that can move him to a title shot. Problem is, the winner of that fight would probably still need to fight the winner of Belfort/Johnson for top contender rights. Bisping might do better to wait for that one. Bisping would outpoint him, though. The difference is, as usual, that Stann has the power to knock him out and Bisping is unlikely to knock out Stann. That's nothing new for Bisping, though. Based on their last fights, I'd say that Bisping probably has the better wrestling, too. Not that I wouldn't like to watch that fight. The real problem with that match is Stann is coming off a loss and his star seems to have faded a bit. Wouldn't want to risk a marketable contender against someone you couldn't push just as effectively.
  11. This looks fun. First timer here. Here's hoping for some beginner's luck. Jon Jones vs Lyoto Machida Frank Mir vs Big Nog Tito Ortiz vs Little Nog Claude Patrick vs Brian Ebersole Mark Hominick vs Korean Zombie Krzysztof Soszynski vs Igor Pokrajac Jared Hamman vs Constantinos Philippou John Makdessi vs Dennis Hallman Yves Jabouin vs Walel Watson Mark Bocek vs Nik Lentz Rich Attonito vs Jake Hecht Mitch Clarke vs John Cholish And I know you said you weren't doing the Ultimate Finale, but I'm still gonna make my picks just for fun. Michael Bisping vs. Jason Miller Diego Brandao vs. Dennis Bermudez - I kinda want to pick Bermudez, though. I just kinda' feel in my gut that Brandao is a gonna burn himself out early, but not strongly enough to go against the popular pick. John Dodson vs. T.J. Dillashaw Yves Edwards vs. Tony Ferguson Johnny Bedford vs. Louis Gaudinot Marcus Brimage vs. Stephen Bass John Albert vs. Dustin Pague Josh Ferguson vs. Roland Delorme Josh Clopton vs. Steven Siler Dustin Neace vs. Bryan Caraway
  12. Hi all. Name's Wes. I've been playing for a couple months, testing the waters and since I've been getting more and more interested in the game I figured I'd come out of lurk mode and introduce myself right quick. I found this game while looking up an old MMA browser game I used to play years ago called Martial Combat. This game is superior in every conceivable way, of course. I especially like that it's lightweight when you need it to be. Like most people here, I'm a big fan of MMA and never miss any of the big three shows(Bellator, Strikeforce, UFC) if I can help it and check other fights every once in a while. I love to talk about the fights, even during the fights, which might make me a bit of a frustrating viewing partner now that I think of it. But my favorite thing is talking smack when my predictions are right ...or at least hating on the other guy when I'm wrong. So that's probably most of what I'll talk about on these forums when I check in. Looking forward to gaming with you all.
