While Shogun didn't dominate by any means, he won the fight. I gave Machida rounds 2 and 3, although they were extremely close rounds and could have gone either way. I gave Shogun rd 1, but could understand how Machida could have won the round on judges scorecards - it was a damn close round. Rounds 4 and 5 went to Shogun, 100%. Someone wrote how Machida's corner was icing down Machida's legs in between rounds - I couldn't agree with that person more. Seeing that paints a picture to me that he was getting his legs beaten by his opponent. When you watch rounds 4 and 5, you can clearly see the frustration and the diminishing hope in Machida's face. At the end of the fight, he clearly looked to be the defeated man while Shogun paraded around with his arms held high.
The fans saw Shogun win, the announcers saw Shogun win, Dana White saw Shogun win (or so he said), and the fighters knew Shogun won.
I scored the fight like so:
Machida - Shogun
9 - 10
10 - 9
10 - 9
9 - 10
9 - 10
47 - 48
