We ended the Undercard with one Lightweight battle and we’ll kick off the Main Card with another! Both Solic and Sukulaku are fully, and I do mean FULLY, prepped for this fight so we can expect everything they have left in the cage this evening folks!
Soldic will have a slight edge in Muay Thai but outside that these two are very closely matched. He’s 1-1 since arriving at Sucker Punch under new management with Alex K. backing his new squad. He fell to Takahashi in a tough split decision that earned ‘Fight of the Night’ honors in his SPPS debut at Featherweight but has since moved up to Featherweight again, where he used to fight back at HFC prior to WCF…and with that move was able to pull off a slick Triangle Choke against Uesugi last month. He, however, was not the instigator of the move to the mat in that contest and Uesugi probably regrets his part in that still to this day! Knowing that Soldic can pull off submissions, the question will be does he stay standing against Sukulaku or initiate the takedowns this go-round?
Sukulaku, much like Soldic, started his run here at Sucker Punch along with a management change. Previously managed by Marky Mark, he’s now been with Sucker Punch for five fights under Golden Finch with a 3-2 record result. He stumbled a bit in a bid at the Championship when given a chance against former champ Maede and then came back for a hangover loss to Yip Man lii the fight after. However, last month’s TKO win over Guy River definitely showed he’s still a dangerous fighter who can bring power to the cage and that his strikes are something to be concerned with.
Donkey’s Pick: Sukulaku via TKO (Strikes)
Sukulaku has also pulled off some submissions in the past so that’s something to consider also if Soldic does take this fight to the ground tonight. But, Suku has also lost via submission, so maybe the risk is worth it? We’ll have to see what Soldic and his team decide, if they can dictate where the fight takes place. The biggest concern would be not getting tagged with a power shot from Sukulaku while deciding or making that attempt! For now, with the flip of a coin…ok, and a little consideration given to Suku’s power and Soldic’s only “solid” chin…I’m going with Sukulaku this evening.

That's like saying an individual 16 man single elimination bracket has an inconclusive winner because he didn't fight everyone :). Also, even if we faced someone in group stage and beat them, then lose to them in the final, that makes it inconclusive too, doesn't it?

Kind of pointless to fight against all top teams at starting stage, just to get brackets into semis. Then most teams are tied anyway. Some teams got kind of easy way into semis. 6 rounds and all opponents were bottom 6 teams..
In the end i have always like alliance tournaments and will join in future too. Starting league was just not optimal, AWC is still my favourite.
I think a good ol' single elimination bracket from the very start would've got the job done.

For reference, I get about 1-2 noob fund requests a month. These 2 came in hours apart. Notice the wording/writing style, notice the log in times on both accounts. Leave the noob fund thread to new managers who actually need help.
