  1. http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/company/logo/1474238325LebowskiFightsLogo.jpg Lebowski Island Achievers Official Thread For the last time, man, I'm not that Jeffrey Lebowski, I'm The Dude, man. I don't know the first thing about running a charity - and besides, this looks a lot more like an underground fight club than a charity. I'm supposed to be on vacation - you should hear about the week I had. No, I didn't say I was a matchmaker, I said do you have a match, man, this joint is totally burnt out. All I wanna do is sit in the sun, drink my drink, and relax man. Now there's all these guys who look like nobody ever told them gym class got out like ten years ago following me around and asking me who they're supposed to fight. I guess as long as they are't fighting me, man. Are there any bowling alleys on this island?
  2. Nice call, man, great performance from MJ. Money sent.
  3. In retrospect "Deserted Fighting" probably wasn't the best omen as far as promotion names go.
  4. Luckily Tycooner took the org over and got me a replacement offer.
  5. Revolution Island Night 2 - Event Review http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/posters/14733588651473332277poster.png What a great night of fights! All but two bouts were decided without the help of the judges and every one of the 756 Island fans in attendance left convinced that Revolution Island offers the highest caliber of fighting talent on the Island. Without further ado, here's what happened at Revolution Island Night 2, brought to you in collaboration with Darkness Clothing! 185 lbs - "The" Island Champion (debut) vs. "Mosquito" Chico Cunha (1-0-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RI) Well, sometimes self-confidence isn't the most helpful thing in the world as Island Champion clearly paid no concern to his opponent's ability to hurt him on the feet. He came forward from the first bell, looking to clinch rather than strike, but his complete failure to defend his opponent's punches made for a short night as "Mosquito" connected with his opponent's head repeatedly at a blistering pace before dropping him with a straight left less than thirty seconds into the bout and finishing it with follow-up punches a short time later. With his lightning-quick stoppage the Brazilian was awarded Knockout of the Night and moves to 2-0 in his MMA career. Prediction: Island Champion by 2nd round TKO Actual Result: Chico Cunha by by 1st round TKO (0:32) 265 lbs - Brock "Samson" Lesnar (1-0-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RI) vs. Incy Quincy "Spider" (debut) The well-rounded Brit Quincy had faith in his wrestling and his chin, but faith alone aren't enough to overcome a physical specimen like Lesnar. "Spider" bravely entered the clinch of his own volition and scored several times with short uppercuts to the head, but he was at a clear disadvantage in terms of brute strength and quickly tired within the grip of the powerful American. Sensing the opportunity, Lesnar began to pile on the punishment midway through the round, landing short punishing strikes to the head and body before a crushing uppercut delivered from nearly waist level left Quincy sprawled unconscious on the canvas. Prediction: Brock Lesnar by unanimous decision Actual Result: Brock Lesnar by 1st round KO (3:18) 155 lbs - Sleep "Zzzzzzzzzz" Deprived (debut) vs. Enzo Dimelo (debut) Patience was the name of the game in the third bout of the night as the Canadian boxer Dimelo waited out Sleep Deprived's early onslaught in the first round before taking over as soon as he has his opponent's timing down. After scoring Dimelo's face with his long jab several times early, Deprived got overconfindent stepping in and ate a thunderous series of punches that sent his opponent to the canvas. The Angolan proved his toughness by climbing back to his feet but he was clearly badly hurt as Dimelo immediately sent him back to the canvas with a huge right and when even that proved insufficient trapped his reeling opponent against the cage and finished with an undefended series of blows from the clinch and eventually mount before the referee came to his senses and intervened. Prediction: Enzo Dimelo by unanimous decision Actual Result: Enzo Dimelo by 1st round TKO (1:42) 145 lbs - "Chilly" Carney Asada (debut) vs. Quincy "The Big" Queef (debut) It's impossible to predict how a fight will unfold, and that was definitely the case for this one, a bout between two high-level strikers that found itself contested almost entirely on the mat and for the most part without any of the fireworks most expected. The lanky Queef made his intentions clear immediately, scooping up Asada with a diving double leg and repeating the trick a second time soon after when his opponent was able to escape to his feet. This proved to be as ill-advised as it was surprising however as the Mexican Asada easily swept the taller man to his back and spent the rest of the round on top connecting with strikes and briefly threatening with an armbar and a tight arm triangle choke from side control. A series of punches and elbows just before the bell seemed to really hurt Queef and the American came out for the second round still wobbly where he was quickly wiped out by a series of power punches on the feet from the victorious "Chilly". Prediction: Quincy Queef by 3rd round KO Actual Result: Carney Asada by 2nd round TKO (0:11) 135 lbs - Chiumbu "Black House" Diabang (debut) vs. Mbawe "Superman" Kanyange (debut) In contrast to the last fight sometimes an unorthodox approach does pay off, and that was definitely the case in this contest as the well-rounded Ethiopian Kanyange repeatedly took the bout to the bat against his grappling whiz kid opponent and was rewarded with a lopsided decision victory. "Superman" roared out of the gate, splitting open his opponent's forehead with a kick that sent Diabang tumbling to the canvas and attempting to finish with ground and pound. The Nigerian was able to recover his wits and ensare Kanyange in a tight guillotine but he appeared to gas out his arms attempting to finish as he was never the same once his opponent escaped. Kanyange was able to repeatedly pass his opponent's guard and even attempted multiple submissions of his own while an exhausted Diabang could offer no meaningful offense beyond takedowns, proving repeatedly unable to control his hyperactive opponent from top position. Prediction: Chiumbu Diabang by 1st round submission Actual Result: Mbawe Kanyange by unanimous decision 145 lbs - Tito Dimelo (debut) vs. Bosco Green (debut) Mixed martial arts is a game contested over minutes but decided over seconds, and nowhere was that more clear than in this fight. With a sizeable experience advantage in the striking department, the smallest of the Dimelo clan was teeing off against the even-smaller Bosco Green for the first ninety seconds of their encounter, connecting with crisp punches to the head and body and thudding leg kicks that seemed to be taking a toll. With his first attempt at a takedown stuffed the diminutive American wrestler seemed to be in a bad spot.. until he launched himself at his Canadian opponent, clobbering him with a series of punches that were as ugly as they were effective, connecting one after another with Dimelo's jaw and leaving him unconscious before he hit the canvas, quickly followed by an off-balance Green who tumbled into an approximation of side control and added a few swift follow-up blows before the referee pulled him away with a stunning come-from-behind knockout. Prediction: Bosco Green by 2nd round TKO Actual Result: Bosco Green by 1st round KO (1:39) 170 lbs - Curtis Cambridge (debut) vs. Mickey "The OutKast" Hendricks (debut) This one was over in the blink of an eye as our fastest finish of the night netted "The OutKast" Mickey Hendricks the Submission of the Night over the British boxer Curt Cambridge. Though generally more regarded as a striker himself, the American Hendricks took immediate advantage of his opponent's lack of grappling experience by shooting in for a long double leg takedown. From there it was all elementary as he passed to half guard and cinched up a tight arm triangle to coax the tap in under thirty seconds. Prediction: Mickey Hendricks by 2nd round submission Actual Result: Mickey Hendricks by 1st round submission (0:29) 265 lbs - Polo Dimelo (debut) vs. Tommy Rosario (0-1-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RI) The second Dimelo brother to have a rough night of it in his debut, boxing specialist Polo had no opportunity to fight at his preferred distance as he was dominated in close quarters. Bullying his opponent into the clinch almost immediately, the Spaniard Rosario took over the fight from that point as he landed a steady stream of savage elbows that left his opponent's face a bloody mess. A particularly heavy blow near the ninety second mark appeared to damage the Canadian's orbital bone and he was forced to tap out before suffering permanent disfigurement. Prediction: Tommy Rosario by 2nd round doctor's stoppage Actual Result: Tommy Rosario by 1st round submission (1:24) 155 lbs - Dong Won Kang (0-1-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RI) vs. Francis Fitzpatrick (debut) Those who only caught the fight might have been surprised to see that this was Fight of the Night, but the entertainment value has to include the walk-up to the fight where Dong Won Kang was attacked by the Just Bleed guy. Just Bleed was unavailable for comment. While not physically harmed, Kang was perhaps mentally rattled as the Korean teenager was unable to pull the trigger on any counters and suffered a hasty defeat after being trapped against the cage by the stronger Francis Fitzpatrick and hammered by a serious of uppercuts, body punches, and elbows that eventually caused him to ask out of the fight. Prediction: Francis Fitzpatrick by split decision Result: Francis Fitzpatrick by 1st round submission (1:33) 205 lbs - Dan Couture (debut) vs. Lllaaaaaaaak Kom Nu (debut) In the final fight of the night we were treated to a case of total grappling and striking dominance at the hands of Dan Couture, one of the Island's most highly-regarded young prospects and a man who has already attracted the attention of not one but both of the premier apparel companies in the area. It was easy to see why as the American effortlessly shrugged off a surfeit of takedown attempts from his overmatched opponent while connecting with accurate and powerful punches at a range and in close quarters throughout the contest. By the end the Andorran Muay Thai specialist Kom Nu was a bloody mess and Couture essentially untouched, leaving little doubt in the mind of the judges as to who was the better man. Prediction: Dan Couture by unanimous decision Result: Dan Couture by unanimous decision http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/1/1w20.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/19/19b19.jpg FIGHT OF THE NIGHT http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/20/20b15.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/13/13b10.jpg KO OF THE NIGHT SUBMISSION OF THE NIGHT
  6. I've been trying to pull off a more drastic conversion... hard but addictive, time flies by without realizing it. My best effort so far: Original: To:
  7. Deserted allows QFCs at least so we aren't totally locked in while waiting for the inactivity clause (assuming QFCs don't reset it..)
  8. I'll take the bet. Poirer is a handful for anybody without a ton of stopping power to take advantage of his iffy defense.
  9. Avatar Auction Starting Price: 30k Min Raise: 5k Auction CLOSED Winner: Mr. J Price: $78,906
  10. Greetings fellow Tycooners. I'm a fairly new player, but I'm pretty well hooked on this game. I checked it out a few years ago and was put off by the extremely slow pace of pay, but I've come around to appreciate the way that encourages the player base to actually put the time into populating the universe with promotions and businesses and such. At any rate, I'd like to hire out my services as writer of event previews / recaps as well as selling avatars. For writing sample I offer two previews I've written here and here, which I feel demonstrate that I can deliver a product to justify my asking price. PRICES Preview or Recap: 40k for a ten-fight card (half price if you only want the main card, etc.) Preview AND Recap: 70k for a ten-fight card Currently most likely booked up, will update. If you have something besides a preview/recap you need done I'm sure we can work out an appropriate price as well. At some point I would have to limit my workload, but I can definitely do several a week. If you're a younger promotion and can't quite afford that we might also be able to work something out. I've also been trying my hand at avatars since GIMP is always fun to play with (just ask those bikers in Pulp Fiction). I've done up these ones for my own fighters and they've been cleared, so hopefully I've got the aesthetic down well enough to reliably pass muster with Mike (and obviously I won't require payment until any avatar is accepted). Those four are already in use, but these two are for sale, 25k each: SOLD I've also got my first attempt at a GIF avatar coming up in the next post that I thought I'd try to auction. Thanks for reading!
  11. A few I put together for my fighters awaiting approval (for a few days now hopefully they get accepted). EDIT: Hooray, all accepted. A couple of my duplicates went through (I wasn't sure they were submitting at first, then I did some minor edits), but oh well.
  12. What happens to retired guys? I have a fight under offer to an Island guy who is now retired. I assume that's not going to ever be accepted.
  13. It seems like the problem is there's just not than many 135 pounders compared to the larger weight classes.
  14. ICON Fight Night 2 - Event Preview http://i.imgur.com/mq1WRMM.png Good afternoon Los Angelinos, it's a sunny day in Southern California as usual, but that doesn't matter because it's time to stay inside on your couch and watch the preview show for ICON Fight Night 2, presented by Revolution XC. Fight fans in Venice Beach will be treated to a nine-fight night of cage fighting violence this Friday, headlined by a lightweight title bout between two familiar foes in the form of the popular "Elvis the Fighter" Hop Sing Jung and accomplished Dutchman Alexander Vermeer. 265+ lbs - "Soul Absorber" Kenshiro Kakashi (debut) vs. Marko "Project" Oconner (debut) The first bout on the card features the promotion's new superheavyweight division in a classic striker vs. grappler matchup. Both fighters are making their pro debuts, but the American O'Connor was a Golden Gloves champion in his native Wisconsin as well as a high school wrestler while the Japanese Kakashi is a traditional jiu-jitsu practitioner believed to possess a high-level submission grappling game. This will all come down to distance, as Oconner has to keep his smaller opponent from clinching and taking the fight to the ground or he's likely to be tapped out in short order. At this weight class though, he won't have to do it for long. Prediction: Marko Oconner by 1st round KO 145 lbs - Derrick "Pretty Boy" King (4-2-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RXC) vs. Alberto "Roca Roca" Silva (2-2-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RXC) Two competitors relatively young in this sport face off in their first matches under the Revolution XC banner. It's been a roller coaster ride for "Pretty Boy" King so far as the American has tasted victory four times at the regional level but been savagely knocked out in a pair of bouts against the older Santana Blaze in his forays up the competitive ladder. His opponent, Alberto Silva, is a skilled jiu-jitsu competitor from Brazil who has seen all his fights finish in the first round, whether victory or defeat. King isn't a finisher and has reportedly been dumped by his management team in the leadup to the fight, which has to be demoralizing, so I expect "Roca Roca" will find a way to break him before the final bell. Prediction: Alberto Silva by 2nd round submission 205 lbs - Arturo "Bad Boy" Vidal (5-0-0 MMA, 1-0-0 RXC) vs. Saif "Fatty" Swaleh (0-1-0 MMA, 0-0-1 RXC) A somewhat curious rematch, the Chilean Muay Thai specialist Vidal used his predictable-but-effective gameplan to deliver a steady diet of clinch elbows en route to a clear unanimous decision over the Bahranian Swaleh the last time out. That's not to say the bout is entirely a mismatch as the Arab boxer certainly has the striking chops to knock out his younger opponent if he can keep the fight at a distance. That said, smart money is on a repeat of their first encounter. Prediction: Arturo Vidal by unanimous decision 135 lbs - Antonio Diaz (2-0-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RXC) vs. Dan "Diesel" Sergeant (1-0-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RXC) Two young men who have never tasted defeat in their careers will make their RXC debuts in the next bout here in the bantamweight division. Stockton native Tony Diaz has decisioned both his professional opponents with a varied striking attack, choosing volume and precision over knockout power but making victory look easy nevertheless. His opponent in this bout has some skills on the feet himself but is unlikely to have any avenue to victory through striking, instead he'll try to use his superior wrestling to bring the fight to the ground where he's a stifling, if not especially ferocious, presence. Prediction: Antonio Diaz by split decision 135 lbs - Lamb "of" God (debut) vs. Carlito Brigante (2-1-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RXC) Keeping it in the lower weight classes, this match will also feature two fighters new to the RXC cage and one new to professional MMA entirely. The debutante goes by the moniker "Lamb of God" and appears to have a strong wrestling base, although whether he's more of a ground-and-pounder or dirty boxer remains to be seen. His opponent is fellow American Carlito "Malo" Brigante, a well-rounded kicking specialist signed off the strength of two straight victories including a highlight reel head kick KO. Brigante has some skill, but his tendency to lead with his chin might be his downfall here. Prediction: Lamb of God by 1st round KO 185 lbs - Leonardo Leite (5-3-0 MMA, 1-0-0 RXC) vs. Adam Grigorian (6-0-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RXC) The main card leads off with the much anticipated RXC debut of undefeated Armenian prospect Adam Grigorian, an 18-year-old phenom who has already proven his mettle against high-level competition in New York and has become familiar to RXC fans without even stepping into the cage thanks to his online war of words with fan favorite Nick Gonzalez. The Revolution matchmakers have no intentional of babying their new acquisition however as Brazil native Leonardo Leite is a high-level BJJ competitor who has ended all five of his MMA victories by making his opponent quit. Four of those submissions have come in the first round, including forcing a painful-looking verbal submission from Justin Sane in his RXC debut last month. Grigorian has faced skilled grapplers before, but none with wrestling as good as Leite, and that might make for a rude awakening here. Prediction: Leonardo Leite by 2nd round submission 145 lbs - Michael "The Hurricane" Carter (6-1-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RXC) vs. Walton Kunz (9-7-0 MMA, 0-2-0 RXC) Another hot young prospect competing for the first time with Revolution XC, Michael Carter fell short in his bid to unseat the undefeated lightweight champion Alexander Koreshkov in the Russian DFC promotion last July, being smothered by the superior grappler and in the process tasting defeat for the first time himself. The well-rounded Toronto-born wrestler remains a tantalizing talent however and may soon be back to headlining cards, particularly now that he's competing at 145 pounds to maximize his size and strength advantage. That should serve him well tonight against the much smaller German submission specialist Walton Kunz, a mercurial talent who remains winless under the RXC banner thus far. Kunz is a good boxer and would likely have the advantage on the feet but he has nowhere near the wrestling ability to keep the bout there and has shown little inclination to strike in his career, particularly after being knocked out in his last two bouts. Prediction: Michael Carter by 2nd round TKO 155 lbs - Takumi "Sunrise" Takeshi (8-1-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RXC) vs. Nik "Lake Effect" Snow (2-0-0 MMA, 1-0-0 RXC) Another lauded prospect debuting for RXC, the 20-year-old sushi chef-turned fighter Takeshi features a rounded skillset that has allowed him to finish all eight of his victories, five by knockout and three by submission with his only defeat coming several years ago in his debut as an untrained teenager. He was most recently the Professional League MMA lightweight champion but he faces his toughest opponent yet tonight in the granite-chinned Snow, a freak athlete with an advanced game for his age and likely the advantage in most areas of the fight. If Snow has a weakness, it's in experience as has competed only twice despite having been training for some time, and if Takeshi can exploit his edge there or perhaps in the wrestling department he might be able to eke out a victory. Prediction: Nik Snow by split decision 155 lbs - © Hop Sing "Hyun Ae" Jung (19-7-0 MMA, 3-2-0 RXC) vs. Alexander Vermeer (16-4-1 MMA, 2-1-0, RXC) http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/17/17b9.jpg http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/belt/20160705063333Untitled-1.png http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/27/27w25.jpg And finally, the main event of the card will feature the diminutive Korean champion Hop Sing Jung against the fantastic Dutch boxer Alexander Vermeer. Both men laid claim to #1 P4P at different times on The Island as Vermeer racked up an impressive highlight reel of striking finishes - including two savage first round knockouts of Jung under the Island FC banner - and finished as the season runner-up at the 145 pound division. The suave submission wizard Jung meanwhile began his Island career with eight consecutive victories - including a first-round rear naked choke over Vermeer. Jung is no stranger to bad blood having just spent fifty minutes in the ring with the notorious Nate Gonzalez, and he's surely eager to draw the career ledger even against his old opponent here. Jung excels at bringing the fight to the mat with his judo base, but his reliance on bullying his way into close quarters without offering his opponent any real danger on the feet has left him vulnerable to counter-punchers, as Vermeer could attest two out of three times. For the Dutch striker who has beaten his opponent senseless in 14 out of 16 victories, the road to victory is clear - use his vastly superior reach to maintain distance and wait for the chance to tag Jung's jaw. The math might favor Vermeer, but "Elvis" is at the top of his game right now and looks great at 155 pounds, so I have a feeling he may pull off the upset. Prediction: Hop Sing Jung by 1st round submission
  15. Revolution Island Night 2 - Event Preview http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/posters/14733588651473332277poster.png After a successful debut event that delighted 688 Underground fans with seven finishes and some memorable wars The Island's top MMA promotion is set to return with Revolution Island Night 2 this Saturday night. Twenty all new fighters, spanning every weight division, will take to the cage to try to prove that they deserve to be remembered among the all-time Island greats. 185 lbs - "The" Island Champion (debut) vs. "Mosquito" Chico Cunha (1-0-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RI) The most confidently named fighter in the promotion, Champion is a native of The Island looking to prove that you don't have to bring fighters in from all over the world to find the very best. An All-Island wrestling champion as a youth, he is believed to be especially deadly in the clinch. He'll be facing a marginally more experienced opponent in the form of headhunting Brazilian boxer "Mosquito" Cunha, a deadly-accurate puncher who needed less than a minute to dispatch his Scandinavian opponent with a savage right hook in his debut bout. These fighters should be relatively evenly matched with Cunha likely taking the edge at a distance but Champion potentially having a more reliable avenue to victory by taking his opponent to the clinch or to the mat. Prediction: Island Champion by 2nd round TKO 265 lbs - Brock "Samson" Lesnar (1-0-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RI) vs. Incy Quincy "Spider" (debut) Built like a fire truck and a dump truck had a baby, Brock Lesnar stands only 5'9" and cuts weight to meet the heavyweight limit while his opponent gives up more than thirty pounds but enjoys a substantial reach advantage due to his more typical 6'4" frame. His training has focused primarily on boxing, but he demonstrated his raw power in close quarters when his debut opponent put him in the clinch, a decision that spelled quick destruction after a series of savage strikes from the Minnesotan. The Brit Quincy has yet to debut professionally, but most assume his skillset will be similar to that of his brother Michael who victorious in his debut against an overmatched 18-year-old opponent. If that is the case he may have difficulty with the more polished boxing of the American, though he does have the more distinguished wrestling background and may try to use the clinch to shut down his opponent's explosiveness, history be damned. Prediction: Brock Lesnar by unanimous decision 155 lbs - Sleep "Zzzzzzzzzz" Deprived (debut) vs. Enzo Dimelo (debut) Speaking of brothers, Enzo Dimelo is one of three Dimelo brothers fighting on this card and six currently signed to the organization, although most observers agree that it's unlikely that all six will prove to have the athletic ability to fight at a high level. Neither has made their professional debut, and while Dimelo has been training mixed martial arts for much longer than his 18-year-old opponent this may not guarantee him victory if the Canadian boxer chooses to stand and bang. His drowsy Angolan opponent is a top-level striker whose glaring deficiencies in the grappling department may may not be exposed in this matchup. That said, the smart money says that Enzo can use his more well-rounded game to take "Zzzzzzzz" out of his comfort zone. Prediction: Enzo Dimelo by unanimous decision 145 lbs - "Chilly" Carney Asada (debut) vs. Quincy "The Big" Queef (debut) Although both fighters in this bout are new to the world of mixed martial arts they are highly decorated strikers and the high potential for stand-up fireworks makes this one of the most anticipated bouts of the night. The San Francisco-based Queef is known for a varied striking attack and may have a slight edge in this department over his Mexican opponent Asada who had reportedly spent much of the last year attempting to bring his wrestling game up to speed. Unless he's able to use this well-roundedness to his advantage to shut down Queef's explosive stand-up arsenal he may find himself in trouble. Prediction: Quincy Queef by 3rd round KO 135 lbs - Chiumbu "Black House" Diabang (debut) vs. Mbawe "Superman" Kanyange (debut) Another matchup featuring a pair of new professionals, both hailing from the African continent, this bout has not drawn as much attention. Both combatants are teenagers not expected to be ready for the highest levels of Island competition, though they are relatively evenly matched with one another. The Ethiopan Kanyange has a well-rounded game with no obvious holes but also no obvious strengths. This is in stark contrast to his opponent, the Nigerian Diabang who has won several jiu jitsu competitions in Africa and Asia but is believed to have virtually no striking trainer and no wrestling background either. That said, his ability on the ground is far and away the most dangerous tool either fighter will bring to this bout and a single-minded focus on bringing the fight to the mat, most likely by pulling guard, could be enough to win this bout for "Black House". Prediction: Chiumbu Diabang by 1st round submission 145 lbs - Tito Dimelo (debut) vs. Bosco Green (debut) The smallest Dimelo brother, Muay Thai practitioner Tito is used to being the smaller man in the ring but this will be a rare departure from that trend as he faces the diminutive Englishman Bosco Green in what will be the professional debut for both men. At well under five feet tall, Green will have a huge reach disadvantage, but Green surely has no intention of attempting to strike the Canadian as his game is clearly built around scoring takedowns and pounding out his opponent from top position. That may well spell trouble for Tito as Muay Thai is at its best when utilizing kicking techniques or striking from the clinch, both areas of the game that are likely to leave him vulnerable to Bosco's lightning-quick takedowns. Prediction: Bosco Green by 2nd round TKO 170 lbs - Curtis Cambridge (debut) vs. Mickey "The OutKast" Hendricks (debut) This card features more teenagers than a dubstep concert, and that trend continues with another bout between competitors too young to buy a beer after their fight. Named Cambridge but hailing from Suffolk, Curtis is a former English Olympic boxing alternate with an extremely raw ground game. That will be his biggest vulnerability, as his American opponent Hendricks is a solid puncher in his own right but also an active jiu-jitsu competitor who has recently been dominating the blue belt tournament scene and is likely due for a promotion in that department. With the striking acumen to survive long enough to have a chance to pull guard, Hendricks has a good chance to coax a tap from Cambridge here. Prediction: Mickey Hendricks by 2nd round submission 265 lbs - Polo Dimelo (debut) vs. Tommy Rosario (0-1-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RI) We've seen the smallest Dimelo, now here's the largest as slightly unpolished boxer-wrestler Polo is the middle brother of the clan, eager to prove he shouldn't be overlooked. His opponent is former European Muay Thai champion Tommy Rosario, submitted by a more experienced jiu jitsu player in his debut bout but unlikely to meet the same result in this matchup. Indeed, Dimelo will have to be meticulous about maintaining distance against the Spaniard in this bout, lest he fall victim to his opponent's brutal elbows in the clinch. Prediction: Tommy Rosario by 2nd round doctor's stoppage 155 lbs - Dong Won Kang (0-1-0 MMA, 0-0-0 RI) vs. Francis Fitzpatrick (debut) We're back to the teenagers as two more 18-year-olds square off, both men fighting out of East Asia. From Phuket, Thailand, Francis Fitzpatrick is making his professional debut and somewhat surprisingly does not feature a particularly extensive Muay Thai background, instead being better known for his wrestling acumen. He'll have a clear advantage in this department over his opponent, the Korean Kang, but he'll have to use it at great risk as Kang is a more dangerous submission artist and should have a slight edge on the feet to boot. This would normally make Kang the favorite, but he was surprisingly passive in his debut, twice taking the fight to the ground against his opponent and even scoring a beautiful sweep to top position but failing to work aggressively for a finish and eventually succumbing to second round strikes. Prediction: Francis Fitzpatrick by split decision 205 lbs - Dan Couture (debut) vs. Lllaaaaaaaak Kom Nu (debut) The final bout of the night is our only light heavyweight match and features more two of the promotion's more polished fighters, though both are making their pro debuts. The American Couture is a hot commodity on The Island, a physically imposing specimen from a decorated fight team with the high-level wrestling background so often associated with successful transitions to pro MMA. His boxing has developed nicely as well, though he may not have an advantage in the stand-up over his Andorran opponent Kom Nu, a decorated Muay Thai competitor who is reputed to have a good sprawl game. On paper the match might seem to slightly favor Nu, but I have a feeling Couture will figure out a way to notch the W. Prediction: Dan Couture by unanimous decision That concludes this event preview - make sure to stop by Taco's Tiki Bar and Grill, home of the Big Stiffy, and of course tune in for Talk to Taco to get your up-to-the-minute coverage of all Revolution Island's colorful stable of competitors.
  16. Don't you get a sort of trial part-VIP at first after completing the guide where you don't have ten fighters? I upgraded almost right away to get more guys so I don't remember for sure, but maybe it still lets you open a business in that state? I don't know about the money for elite coaches though, don't those cost more than a starting loan?
  17. 400k. Sure, they'll be laughing now, but in five years you'll be a genius.
  18. The big difficulty with the Maia matchup for Wonderboy is the kicks; Maia thrives on trips and single-legs and if he gets you down once and you're not an elite-level grappler yourself you aren't going to last long. Could Wonderboy keep his legs from being caught for long enough to finish Maia? If he takes the kicks out for safety he's probably got to win a five-round decision - Maia's chin is underrated and he's far from the worst boxer in the game so I don't think Wonderboy could knock him out just boxing and only kicking at the end of rounds. 25 minutes is a long time to never get taken down, even with substantially better wrestling than Condit. Personally, I tend to agree with the Wonderboy > Woodley > Maia > Wonderboy school of thought. Woodley's combination of physical strength and meat-and-potatoes striking give him the better tools to sprawl and brawl his way to victory over Maia than Wonderboy while leaving him seemingly underequipped to beat Thompson in the stand-up. I'd be less surprised to see Maia beat Woodley than Wonderboy beat Maia though just because of the tiny margin for error involved in beating Maia.
  19. Another thought I had - if I retire an Island fighter for poor hiddens would it be frowned upon in any way for me to spend all his cash on clothes (or, perhaps to leave clothes for other fighters, burn it by joining and leaving a gym) so as to pump money into the economy? If this doesn't break any written/unwritten rules we should all do it.
  20. Anybody have any training tips for a first timer on the Island? I think I've got the hang of how to train a prospect in the regular world, but it seems like it might be pretty different here with no Elite coaches or veterans to spar with. Would I be on the right track to assume that I should be focusing on training up my weaknesses almost exclusively (i.e. Boxing with my grapplers, Wrestling/BJJ with my strikers) on the assumption that it would be very hard to pop increases on high skills in this environment?

    Flight Cost

There's a link at the bottom of the "Instant Flight" page under jets, but it's kind of easy to miss: http://www.mmatycoon.com/travel_guide.php. Just change your starting destination in the drop down at the top to see what the price will be for each move.
  22. Wait, Monsanto turns night into day too? I was impressed just with the fruit.
