  1. I am open to suggestions on this one. With the increase in max fighter slots available it seems like it is potentially discouraged by the peak training per session available at a gym, where if you max your fighters you likely will be above the ideal number of fighters training per session. Maybe a bump in the ideal training per session to include groups of three, or maybe allowing an extra coach or two might help? Just a thought as I contemplate adding slots.
  2. ?NEWLY OPENED GYM IN MONTREAL!? Come and train with us, and being the founder of what you fight for! FIGHT FOUNDERS (CA) 900/weekly Calling out to anyone in the Montreal area, Fight Founders has opened up their first location for the grand opening! We plan on opening new locations in other places if we become established! Looking for hungry fighters to come and train with us. Were newly opened and newly experienced with running a gym and any improvements that need to be made will be in soon time.
  3. I hit the limit on my public gym, can't have more than 14 coaches (where others can have more) because I actually built the coaches "right." I accept there should be some limit, because some gym owners have enough money to lose a lot of money on a gym, so it limits supergyms. Though right now it tends to make public gym training a lot worse than a better formed limit would. If you look at the gym page about coaches, training in most areas needs more than one discipline to be effective. So I actually invested in the secondaries. That of course though used up "total coach points" so as to run out. So it rewards people who have a coach who does "defensive grappling" that has only BJJ and no Wrestling (or even worse only Wrestling and no BJJ), because even getting the secondary to 10 adds 60% to what the coach "costs" in total coach points, though less than that to his salary, if the main skill is Elite. I've seen some truly egregious cases of awful coach design, like coaches who know only Boxing teaching Clinchwork. But even if someone for Clinchwork used the most important primary skill of Muay Thai, they still won't be effective because Wrestling is important too, and a Clinchwork coach should also have at least a bit of Boxing. On the other hand, it probably is a good idea to pressure not all coaches to be Elite (in anything). That's already incentivized through the salaries coaches cost, Having Sensational (just one notch down) rather than Elite is a a large cost savings. But money isn't enough to push that, because lots of people have a whole lot of money. There are various better ways to handle a total skill cap that would allow more coaches made with attention to secondary skills without allowing more one-discipline Elite coaches. One would be to count the coach's highest skill fully, but...only the highest discipline fully counts. Others cost half. So if you do it right and given a Defensive Grappling coach Elite BJJ and Remarkable Wrestling or something, Another would be a coach payroll cap rather than total skill cap. The system already makes Elite cost a premium, as it should (so more strongly allows more coaches if you have some non-Elite); but I think that would allow a couple more coaches (compared to now) to people who give their coaches the secondary skills needed for what they teach. Another might be to only count points in a discipline above 70 against the cap, though then cut the cap in half. So if every coach were 140 Elite in every skill they have, it wouldn't change anything as to the cap. But you could put 70 as a secondary skill and not count it at all against the cap. That's pretty low even for a secondary skill, but defensive grappling, as the example I've most used...I'd much rather train with a BJJ Elite/Wrestling Proficient coach than BJJ Elite/Wrestling Useless. It also rewards (as to the cap) having non-Elite coaches, which would be good. For Elite trainers to be as rare as they ought to be would take too massive an overhaul, but it could be nudged more in that direction. From what Mike says clearly, you have to be very, very good in a skill (at least already Wonderful, maybe already Exceptional) to need an Elite trainer to train it fully, so fighters not yet at their peak don't need them. But you do need your trainer to have some secondary skills to gain nearly fully. I made three suggestions to stop the total coach skill cap from overly punishing doing secondary skills rather than one-skill coaches. I hope at least one of them can be seriously considered and eventually implemented.
  4. I threw this into the end of a very long post in the engine thread that was mostly resolved, mostly done a few years ago, and the few who still look at the thread, my post was long enough many won't read through to the end, or they might even look at the length and just skip it entirely. This also was mentioned by someone else in that thread and no one said anything about it (their idea was more radical actually). I don't think it would step too hard on anyone's toes, unless people want a huge advantage from amazing private gyms over those who don't have them, But simply...make the penalty for classes that aren't one on one kick in a lot more slowly. As my public gym started getting a halfway decent number of fighters, I came to realize that if I want to keep it a good place to train I was going to have to set the capacity at a level that even if it fills I'll lose money. I won't lose all that much money if it fills, and it's worth it to have a place for many of my fighters to train that the coaches actually have the recommended skills for what they train. But the answer is, make the drop-off in training efficiency be very small for numbers that are still low- not zero drop-off. But 3 fighters training with a coach should be 90% as effective at 1 on 1. 2 fighters should be maybe 97% as effective. 5 fighters maybe 75-80% as effective. Above 5, let effectiveness go down horribly and let it be as awful at 10+ in a session as it is now. Maybe that's the way it is, and if so then please publicize that. I think it drops off considerably faster, though I really don't know for sure. People would still get benefits from private gyms: Everyone will want that extra 10% for 1 on 1 rather than 3 on 1, if they can have it. But I could raise my cap so there might be 4 fighters per coach, and then if I could attract that many fighters I could turn a profit. Most sessions would be 3 on 1 or less if I had 50 fighters and 13 coaches, because most fighters don't train every session, some would be sparring, some would be doing Weights or Cardio or Yoga. My sessions with 13 coaches/50 fighters would probably average well under 3. If 3 on 1 was still very good, most people could find a very good session in most things someone was teaching in that session. I'd still have a challenge to get to 50 fighters, that I might not meet. Right now I have a lot less than the cap, and the cap is now 36, about the level that I think usually you could get no worse than 2 on 1. It's also a new gym, and I'm sure it'll grow at least some. It may or may not eventually fill, but the point is right now if I did hit the capacity I'd still lose money, and as long as one can't make money while providing a very good public gym, there won't be very good public gyms. But it would allow the gym to both be good and profitable if I hit the cap, which right now it can't be because if most sessions were worse than 2 on 1, I think a lot of efficiency would be lost. If it already works the way I suggest (and that's possible!), then great, just publicize that fact. And in fact I'd love to know long-time players' estimates of the drop off from additional fighters in a session. But I think training drops off faster than I suggest with each added fighter, and it shouldn't.
  5. Do you need a fitness coach to train for stuff like yoga weights and cardio or can you just do that without one?
  6. So I saw a need for another public gym in Helsinki . . . I was thinking a conditioning gym, but when I try to hire coaches, I get "No coaches available". Does this mean there are no coaches at all available? Or just no coaches available at the level I was looking for? Can anyone clarify?
  7. http://www.mmatycoon.com/gympublic.php?gmid=4193 A new public gym opened it's doors in Sydney named Sydney Combat Method [$500/wk]. To start off we have an Elite fitness coach to take care of all the physical training of your fighters, a double Elite boxing/Muay Thai coach to teach punching, strike def and kicking and a Elite BJJ / Strong wrestling coach to take care of the ground game training with def grappling, sub off, GnP, transitions and escapes. If we get new members coming in, the next coach acquisitions would be an Elite wrestler for takedowns & GnP, and a double Elite (wrestling/MT) / Strong (box) coach for clinchwork. We do have scheduled sparring. The number in the brackets is for number of fighters currently sparring in each respective session. Boxing: - mon AM (5) - tue AM (3) Muay Thai - mon PM (3) Wrestling - tue PM (3) - thurs PM (5) - sat AM (3) BJJ - sat PM (3) To see all the latest changes, follow our gym news at: http://www.mmatycoon.com/orgoldnewspublic.php?type=96&cid=4193
  8. Does fighter training happen automatically over time when I set their individual sparring schedules?
  9. The Stark Slugger Society Gym opened this month in NYC. It was a quiet affair and it has failed to gain much notice. The Owner and manager, Brunno Falcone has stated, "I wanted to open dis here gym, what so da fighters in NY can get access to top quality gyms wit' out breaking da bank. Plus, dey ain't gotta share da gym wit five hun'ert udder guys, whats getting all sweaty and antsy". The Stark Slugger Society Gym is clean, sports brand new, state of the art equipment, and even has a sauna. With it's four double elite coaches and six elite specialty coaches, and cap of 100 fighters that puts it at 5 fighters per coach at full capacity. And at $500 per week gym fees, it is almost as good as some of these private gyms out there. Come check out this quite hole in the wall training facility and prepare to be impressed!
  10. Okay so I am in need of an answer for a question I have about the "boot from gym" feature when you are managing a public gym because when you add a fighter to the boot from gym list his name appears but they remain in the gym so I am assuming this will go into affect on a certain day each week I was thinking it would have been on Sunday or Monday morning before training sessions began but no luck so will Thursday or Wednesday evening be when this takes place or is the boot from gym feature not working lol
  11. I don't know about everyone else but I find my coaches like to moan and bitch about their wage every month even after I give them a nice raise in their wage. Can we please just remove the entire aspect of coach happiness? It's a pain in the ass having to constantly increase their wage to a point where it'll be unstable to keep them at the gym. I find this more frustrating because I've spent VIP days to have their names changed to former fighters of mine.
  12. This question might border somewhat on the noob forum, and I was contemplating posting it there instead. Anyway, so I have created my four fighters and they all have a fight scheduled tomorrow. Tactics are all set, as well. My question to all you guys is, untill those fights go down tomorrow, how might I spend my time around here? There is only so much analyzing, predicting, planning a fight one can do. In the real world, I have a pretty chill office job and thus plenty of time to create my MMA empire. Unfortunately, right now, all there seems to be left for me to do is wait. On a side note. I suppose, I am meant to change gyms with my fighters. And after that, I might set up their training routine. Seeing as it's Thursday morning right now, I figured I'd better wait until tomorrow to change gyms so I won't waste a week's fee. Also, I am not sure if I can spare the weekly 1000$ fees for the better gyms. So any comments on this would also be appreciated.
  13. I just got a gym and now have a few questions: What are the practical differences between single elite coaches versus double elite ones? Is it better to train Gnp with a double elite in BJJ/Wrestling? or is it just a flexibility thing for managing the gym? Do I need elite Boxing and MT to train SD properly? or just one of those is enough?
  14. I noticed that Nutrition products sold to gyms earn the nutrition company just 10$ per pop? If that is true, i think this should be increased. I am assuming it is 10$ because there are lesser benefits? plus fighters can get into minus if that product costs a lot. However i think that is somewhat irrelevant. With the 10$ it makes nutrition companies react pretty much indifferently to even having a gym partnership. Plus the 10$ was added in a while ago. Maybe this should be increased to around 20$ at least
  15. In the mail alliance members, I would like to see an option to mail different types of companies. Mail all Mail Orgs only Mail Clothing only Mail Nutritional only Mail Gyms only I feel this would allow us to communicate better with each other.
  16. I have a tidy little begginer gym in Hilo, and because of my fair price and services have a growing stable of new managers with their sole fighter in the gym, Well... I would like to see how my gym members are doing. So I could assist these managers with reccomendations. I also would like to see what kind of fighters my gym is producing... are we winning? losing? If so how? Are managers grinding their fighters too hard? I have sent a fair amount of PM's to managers who have their fighter sparring alone, or to answer other questions. That kind of stuff would make owning a gym a bit more immersive. Gyms should have a scoreboard.
  17. Any and all Donations are appreciated. My manager id 82693. Thanks to all who help out.
