As a veteran of the sport, he was coming off a loss and starting to see a new generation of fighters make their way into the UFC courtesy of a new TV series called 'The Ultimate Fighter'. He could stay home in Long Island, New York and run his two jiu-jitsu schools, but the fighter inside of him couldn't bear to give up the competition.
