EFC Development Night 4 Review

Lets get right into the main event of the card! Marko vs. Kalou, this was set to be grappling war, both men dubbed ground specialists and it turned out to be just that. Kalou got the takedown early in the first round and the grappling ensued, with Marko attempting to find submissions from every angle, Kalou dropping strikes down and attempting his own submission with he felt enough strikes had been dropped. Kalou clearly dominated the first round in the judges and the fans eyes with his submission defense and strikes on the ground.

In the second round however, after Kalou got a takedown, he was stood up, resulting in a quick takedown from Marko, he advanced in position and set in a deep guillotine! Marko got away with the victory and is now set to take on Shaman. These fighters also gained $1000 each thanks to the fight of the night award!

The co-main event was a hugely dominant performance from Hammer. Curwin's inaccuracy in his leg kicks and his lack of will to throw his hands allowed Hammer to effectively out strike him, over the three rounds, Hammer managed to land almost at will anything he threw and this win propelled him up the welterweight rankings and remaining undefeated as he won a unanimous decision.

Next up was a short fight with Keller and Hudson, Hudson's gameplan was obviously to take Keller down here, he tried five times and was stuffed and sprawled upon five times. Keller however was active on the feet, trying to land some blows to cover up his clinch attempt, he succeeded in getting the clinch and it took him some time and effort, but he pulled guard and instantly caught him in a triangle, a beautiful submission, so deep that Hudson is instantly put to sleep. Keller walks away the winner here and remains undefeated.

EFC mainstay Edgar Robinson was in action against undefeated prospect Randy Couture. In this match up, it was clear Couture was dominated, in the first minute, Edgar was treating Couture like a punch bag and floored him quickly, cutting him in the process. Couture was looking gassed already from the first minute of action and what ensued was a grappling display that needed some work from Robinson.

In the second round, Robinson rocked Couture twice more before the referee was forced to save Randy from more punishment.

EFC Development Night 4 also had notable Knockout of the Night, Andrew Lambert and Submission of the night, Clive Grant!
