We here at SFT would like to invite you to join our team, and enjoy what one of our members called "the best training value in Montreal". We want to keep our gym relatively small, and give our members the best bang for their buck in terms of training, cleanliness and equipment quality.

 

Our "Member-Driven" philosophy means that we strive to give you, the managers who bring your fighters to our facility, a voice and a say in the direction your gym grows in. We currently have three Elite-level coaches on our staff, and a team of dedicated sparring partners from every discipline to ensure that there is always someone for your fighters to train with.

 

Henry Francis, our Elite Strength and Conditioning coach, has been with us since day one, providing top-level Circuit Training to our fighters 6-days per week, so that you can fit high-level conditioning work into your training schedule around your skills training and sparring.

 

Alan Baxter, our Elite BJJ coach, provides Submission Offense and Defensive Grappling training. Paolo da Silva, a BJJ Brown Belt, is one of our dedicated sparring partners, available for Submission Grappling sessions Tue/Thu/Sat AM. Of our active fighters, Robbie Salazar, a BJJ Purple Belt, is also available for sessions when his fight-training schedule allows.

 

Devin McPhee, SFT's newest staff addition, is an Elite Boxing/Elite Muay Thai coach, offering a variety of striking/defense sessions throughout the week. Carmelo Suarez, a highly-ranked amateur boxer (rated "Superb") is another one of our dedicated sparring partners, available for Boxing Sparring Tue/Thu/Sat AM, while Carlo Severus, a Montreal native recently returned from competing in Thailand, is our dedicated Muay Thai Sparring partner (rated "Remarkable"), holding sessions Tue/Thu/Sat PM.

 

Wrestling Drills are handled Tue/Thu/Sat AM and PM by former NCAA Div. 1 wrestler, Hugh Matthews (rated "Wonderful"), with additional sessions conducted by one of our active fighters (and Hugh's former wrestling rival), Harley Reyes, when his fight-prep allows.

 

Look for all of our dedicated sparring partners to be going full-time once SFT is better established!

UPDATE: Our capacity has increased to 85 members, but we are currently full. We will expand one more time (and one time only) to 100 members when the time is right. We have also just recently added a Wrestling/Muay Thai coach to our staff to train Takedowns, Takedown Defense and Clinchwork.

My fighters have been popping non-stop since they started training at Synergy. 2 elite trainers and 1 DOUBLE elite trainer! And only 65 spots available. Guys this is possibly the best value gym in the game.

Here's an updated sparring schedule with our dedicated sparring partners for anybody interested:

 

Boxing Sparring with Carmelo Suarez (rated "Remarkable" for Boxing) - Tue/Thu/Sat AM

 

Muay Thai Sparring with Carlo Severus (rated "Remarkable" for Muay Thai) - Tue/Thu/Sat PM

 

Wrestling Drills with Hugh Matthews (rated "Wonderful" for Wrestling) - Tue/Thu/Sat AM and PM

 

Submission Grappling with Paolo Da Silva (BJJ Brown Belt, rated "Wonderful") - Tue/Thu/Sat AM

 

Why do we have dedicated, high-level sparring partners on hand? Because sparring WORKS! As an example, I have had a fighter pop 2 levels in his Wrestling (from Abysmal to Woeful to Feeble - obviously his strengths lie elsewhere!) with one week of wrestling drills with Hugh Matthews (one of our dedicated partners) and Harley Reyes (one of my other fighters).

 

I should also note that we at SFT are committed to keeping our gym fees low enough that even part-timers can afford to train with our Elite coaching staff! That means our gym fees will NEVER go above $200, and in fact, I'd like to keep them at our current rate of $180, so that part-timers can continue to bank 10% of their money towards supplements, etc.

One more quick update - Robbie Salazar, BJJ Purple Belt and the newly-crowned XFE Light Heavyweight Champion, will be available for Submission Grappling sessions all day, every day next week (June 15 - 20). Come and roll with one of SFT's top active fighters!

Congratulations to all the successful SFT fighters of the past week!

 

Aragones Hirlo Ribeiro, Bongani Jengo, Craig Harper, Daniel Kellman, David King, Dewayne Jennings, Felix Pomfrey, Firuz Shahzad, Hewood Jablome, Jose Guerrero, Micah Daniels, Mij Neztil, Paolo Nazaire, Robbie Salazar and Sir Drax were all winners in their fights this week. Great job guys!

SFT is growing again!

 

After consultation with our membership, we have decided to increase our capacity to 85 members to allow for the addition of a fourth coach to our staff in the near future without raising our gym fees, which will stay at a very affordable $180 per week.

Synergy Fight Team is proud to announce the addition of Wrestling and Muay Thai legend, Uchi Matta-Lee to our coaching staff. Uchi is rated Elite in both Wrestling and Muay Thai, and will therefore be primarily coaching Takedowns, Takedown Defense and Clinchwork, with the occasional session on Elbows or Knees as well.

UPDATED SPARRING SCHEDULE

 

Effective July 6, scheduled sparring will be as follows:

 

  • Boxing Sparring with Carmelo Suarez Tue/Thu/Sat All Day and Mon/Wed/Fri AM only
  • Muay Thai Sparring with Carlo Severus Tue/Thu/Sat All Day and Mon/Wed/Fri PM only
  • Wrestling Drills with Hugh Matthews Tue/Thu/Sat All Day and Mon/Wed/Fri AM only
  • Submission Grappling with Paolo Da Silva Tue/Thu/Sat All Day and Mon/Wed/Fri PM only

This will be the set schedule until further notice. Please be aware that any sparring sessions outside of these times are not guaranteed to have high-level sparring partners - if you want to spar outside of these times, it is your responsibility to ensure that your fighter has a sparring partner. Remember, if your fighter is the only one set to spar at a certain time, no training will occur!
