Guest
Yea, Tank never had a special chin and always had horrible striking. He had huge power and a little wrestling and people back then had crap striking so he killed some guys. Combining him with Hughes basically means you have Hughes with more power and that will still get owned.

Vitor just landed a bunch of punches that never hurt him just over whelmed him like Vitor always did. Frye couldnt hurt him, no one did. In Tanks day all everyone did was hit hard. Even a guy like Warsham had 9 of his 11 wins by KO. Tank kicked Marice Smiths ass for 8 minutes of their fight on 3 days notice. Smith was one of the best strikers period at the time. Rizzo was the only person to ever hurt him in his prime and that was 8 minutes in when he was completely gassed and had his hands on his knees. Even when he come back after a 5 year lay off in his late 30's he took everything Cabbage had. Including killer knees that would have taken most out. His wrestling was good for what he needed it for. He was very hard to takedown and got the fight down when needed. As for his striking he has the striking that most short and stocky fighter have. When you dont have reach you dont stand on the outside and play around. He didnt add kicks until recent but his boxing was always fine. Tanks problem wasnt lack of skill but he just didnt care. No one knew this sport was going to be big. If he would have known he would have taken it more serious. When he started fighting NHB was nothing more than what the Toughman contest is today. No one worth their salt takes that serious. He fought on short notcie, hurt, and out of shape when he shouldnt have just because he loved to fight. There was no reason to protect your record back then. Add in Hughes cardio, work ethic, wrestling, top control, submission offense and defense it would be a tough combination to beat. I never said it was unbeatable.
Guest
Also hughes problem is he is not a natural striker. He strikes like a robot, has no power, and dives at your feet when you hit him because he cant deal with being punches. These flaws cause him to be predictable and one dimensional. Also he has a questionable chin that he has hidden over the years by keeping the fight on the ground.

Tank kicked Marice Smiths ass for 8 minutes of their fight on 3 days notice.Maurice Smith didn't have a scratch on him and neither did abbott when he submitted to leg kicks. Even a guy like Warsham had 9 of his 11 wins by KO.Haha, who the f is Warsham? And did Abbott even touch Rizzo once in that fight? Tank was happy for being the best striker at the local truck stop and never survived one round against a reasonable striker. Hughes would be able to push 200 pounds more on the bench for one single time and then the whole Tank advantage has been depleted.

Exactly when was Tank rocked by Vitor? Again we are talking about chins being able to take a punch and not get rocked or KO'ed. You are right Smith and Tank didnt have a scratch. But Smith got dropped early in the fight. Tank was winning every aspect of that fight with no training. Not bad verses a world class striker of the day. Yes Tank hit Rizzo very often in their fight. Rizzo even said Tank hit him harder than anyone he ever fought and said he couldnt see for 2 minutes after he got hit. Maybe you shouldnt comment on fights you havent seen and fighters you know little about? You claim Tank never went 1 round with a resonable striker. There were no rounds back then. Also Marice and Rizzo were the best back then and he went 8 minutes with both which is much more than the current rounds you seem to know little about. Guest
nobody agrees with GSP/A. Silva? </3 Imo one of the best combos but I would rather combine with a k-1 striker as striking (and maybe chin) is the only thing Anderson will bring to the mix anyway.
