It's finally that time of the year again!

 

For those who don't know, TUM is the largest and in my biased opinion, the toughest tournament in the game! It's not a tournament about fighters but rather, about managers. The aim of the tournament is to bring out the best of the best in an attempt to see who really is "the ultimate manager".

If you look, the past winners have been Lord Rayden and Alex Caine, both of whom are considered to be some of the best managers in the game. TUM truly brings out the cream of the crop and is generally, one hell of a ride!

 

Without wasting more time, let me explain the rules:

 

  • This is a tournament for the managers. All managers are free to join but seeding and entry will be done based on manager rank. Last time, we managed to bring in around 88 participants. This time, let's aim to touch 128.
  • Managers must create fighters on or after a specific creation date. The date has been set for July 31st, 2011. Since it's a Sunday, no managers will be able to gain advantages by creating a fighter early. This date should also give people enough time to experiment with and ultimately, plan for the new training system.
  • Each manager can create upto 2 fighters (you can also just use 1). However, they must pick one of these two fighters to take part in the tournament. The last date for finalizing your pick will be August 20th, 2011. If you have not picked your fighter by that time, we will randomly select one for you. This is done so that managers can test hiddens and speed of two fighters rather than banking on just one.
  • All the fighters must be 18 years of age. They must also be willing to compete in the Super-Heavyweight (265+ lbs) division.
  • After creation, all fighters will be given 2.5 months to train. The first fight will be scheduled for the 14th-16th October weekend. After that, fights will be given at 3 week intervals.
  • In case of a draw, you will be given a rematch 1 week after your fight and will be expected to fight again 2 weeks after that so ideally, you should try your best to avoid a draw.
  • Fighters can be based anywhere in the world and are free to train as they like. However, they must be willing to reach Hilo for their fights. All fighters will also be given entry into the Blitzkrieg gyms should they wish to train there.
  • In case of an NC, the fighter who shows up shall proceed to the next round.
  • In case a manager leaves / gets deleted / goes inactive the opponent will get a bye to the next round.
  • Fighters are free to take test fights before the tournament if they wish to.

As always, the biggest prize one can get is bragging rights. But we've added some stuff just to make it all the more enticing:

 

  • $125,000 courtesy of emfleek.
  • The winner will recieve 6 months of free VIP.
  • Both the finalists will recieve a year's supply of supplements, courtesy of Blitzkrieg Formula 5000 and Blitzkrieg Formula 5000 Cardio.
  • Both the semi-finalists will be recieving 6 months supply of the same supplements.

Just to make it easier to keep your dates about you, here's a copy of the schedule:

 

  • 6th July 2011 - Signups opened.
  • 30th July 2011 - Signups closed.
  • 31st July 2011 - Creation of fighters.
  • 1st August 2011 - Seeds finalized (based on rankings on that date).
  • 20th August 2011 - Finalize fighters.
  • 14th, 15th, 16th October 2011 - Round 1 commences.

Surely from the list of competitors, sorting out the brackets based on manager ranking (as at whatever the cut-off date was) is really not that difficult and makes quite a lot more sense than a random

Everyone is free to sign up. Seeding/final entry will be based on manager rank. I'm pretty sure everyone will be able to get in though, so not to worry. If by some chance we go past the limit (128), the rest will be put into the alternate tournament which runs alongside. As could be seen from the last year, alternates generally made their way into the main tournament.

 

So basically, sign up, you'll get in :)

The rules and timeline contradict each other. Rules states there is 2.5 months to train but according to the timeline fights begin Sept. 16-18 which is 1.5 months after creation date.
