Season Two of the European Premier League kicks off with a bunch of new faces and one returning fighter. All 16 fighters and managers have their eyes firmly on the first prize of $500k and this season's line-up looks just as good, if not better, than the first season. The one returning fighter is James Bomb and after making the final last season before dropping a submission loss to Kung Lai he is keen to go one better this year and take first place. Bomb is definitely amongst the favourites having been there and done it but there are a group of 3 or 4 other fighters who have been strongly fancied by the media pre-tournament.

Perhaps the man to beat is Matt Sabre. He is coming off a disappointing loss in the Million Dollar Tournament but has experience of the big shows having held the Ascension Middleweight Title. He definitely has the skillset to do well but one issue could be the lack of finishs on his record with only 6 of his 14 victories ending before the final bell. Finishing fights is key, as of course it secures the full 3 points but also means the fighter is more likely to be fresh for the next fight. Sabre's manager, Big Boss, entered Lewis Tsushima in Season One but was halted in the semi-finals by the eventual winner. Big Boss is said to be confident about Sabre's ability to go further than Tsushima.

Another interesting entrant is that of Tyler Dignam who walks about at a near 300 pounds and has 10 knockouts amongst his 14-5 record. Dignam is a Vortex FC veteran and has to be considered amongst the favourites when you look at his skills. His manager, Skinny Vince, is said to be worried about his injuries but he also has EPL experience having guided Vik Baeng to the semi-finals in Season One.

Dignam starts his campaign with a tough fight against Barclay Jones who is another real big guy with a lot of power. That first fight will be really explosive and the winner could set themselves up well for the rest of the tournament. Barclay is coming off a tough loss in the Million Dollar Tournament to a much smaller man and that has to be a worry with the amount of middleweights and light-heavyweights entered into the EPL.

The heaviest man in the competition is the beastly Sue Carter who brings a 15-8 record with him with a terrifying 14 of his 15 wins coming by way of stoppage. Carter is sure to be in many an exciting fight in the tournament as he has always been stopped in 7 of his 8 losses. His manager, Bryan Teal, has over 300 fights on his historic record and that experience will serve him well. Carter starts his campaign against the much smaller Rudell Crim in what will again be a super interesting opening fight. Crim is a real dark horse in this event and if he can overcome the size difference he will face in almost every fight then he can certainly surprise people with his spectacular power.

Crim isn't the only middleweight in the competition though as he is joined by the interesting trio of Byeongsuk Kim, Brad Barnes and Ronaldo Ferreira. All 3 have had over 30 career fights and hold clear winning records so obviously know what they are doing. Of the 3 Ferreira has the least impressive looking skillset but many in the media corners have been suggesting he could go far in the competition with many having him down as a cert for at least a play-off spot. Kim fights for Mike Towers who entered Season One as an alternate with another fighter and performed admirably so he too could have a good run.

One man looking to get his career back on path in the EPL is Risto Jaloviina. The Finnish Super-Heavyweight began his career with 8 straight wins but has since slumped to 4 losses on the bounce and many have concluded that this tournament is the big boxer's final shot at a successful MMA career. Jaloviina starts Season Two against the lowest ranked fighter in the tournament Joni Johnsson who looks to have an up-hill task from the start. "JJ" was the last man to enter and has instantly been written off but he could be the James Bomb of Season Two as Bomb entered at the last minute and was amongst the least fancied fighters.

We haven't mentioned the interesting entry of former CFC Heavyweight Champion BJ Wood. He has fought at the top of the game for 2 and a half years and with his 21-5 (14 [T]KOs) record he could be a handful for anyone in the competition. His first fight sees him take on James Bomb so that will be an excellent way to measure up his potential to go far in the EPL.

Harri Hippi and Randy Faulkner face each other in the first round of fights and not many are giving them much of a chance of having a big impact on Season Two of the Euro Premier League. Neither Hippi nor Faulkner bring much experience into the competition and that could be their downfall but if there is one tournament to gain experience then it is definitely this one and the EPL could be the making of either of both these men.

The final two fighters to be mentioned are both SHWs in the shape of Terry Iori and Ricky Mourke. Iori is an interesting one, fighting out of the improving James Cozzy camp. He tips the scales at 299lbs and his size and power combination make him a tough fight for anyone. Iori is figured by most to have a good chance of making the top 6. The same can't be said for Mourke. He is considered to be the whipping boy of the competition but coming in at 300lbs and 225cm tall he casts an intimdating figure.

I agree. With his record, in the orgs he has fought for, and all the title fights, he deserves a lot more recognition.

Not knocking Scotty, though. It takes a lot of work to run an org, organize a tournament like this, and do a write-up hyping the show.
