Immortals New York

Steel

Recommended Posts

Part One:

Its 5 hours until the biggest fight of Lupe Pintor's career, the Steel Fight Camp have booked out the Bar D'Eau in the Trump Soho New York Hotel. Personal friend of Mr Steel , Lennox Lewis has flown in to support his old friend's team as one them embarks on a huge challenge this evening at the Underground in New York. A small number of the paparazzi have been invited to mingle with a host of fighters from the Steel stable.

Richie Ciapelli of MMAUSofA sees this as an ideal opportunity to get a feel for the mood in the Pintor camp.

Richie "Its incredible to see Lennox here Mr Steel".

Steel "We go way back, we first met in 93 at the Thomas & Mack when he fought Tucker."

Richie "Whats he playing with Pintor over there?"

Steel "Its called chess mate, Lennox played it to relax before a fight, well that and sleep, so he is teaching Lupe chess to keep his mind off the fight."

Richie "I understand Jon Boogie told you Pintor isn't ready or Smith and he fancies Smith will have too much power for your guy, whats your take on that?"

Steel " Who am I to question Jon, he's seen them both (train) so we will have to see, look, the fight had to happen, we cant avoid the best, we wont avoid the best. Santa Cruz has fought Cunha twice, Rua fights him next, these are fights people say we will lose, but its fighting, in this game ducking gets you four feathers in my book, and eternal shame."

Richie "Pintor can win this fight?"

Steel "Sure he can, he's got to take Corey down, but Corey knows that, and Bruno knows that. He can win, its just a tough fight, thats why its headlining the card."

Richie "Can either of these guys dethrone Vladdy?"

Steel "Sure they can, if Vladdy gets sick in training, twists an ankle, and breaks his hand on fight day, I would back either of these guys."

Part Two

The Bar D'Eau Trump Soho.

Richie "The 155lb division is stacked, but can you see anyone taking down Vladdy?"

Steel: "No one thought Corey would knock out Carver Cade, but he demolished him, so anything is possible. One guy to look out for is Briar McGuire, he is fighting Carver next, and I think the winner of this fight will be a real contender. Oh and Muang, he will be back, but he has to get by Cantwell, and I think that will be a great fight. There are good young guys coming through. Not many fighters will stay undefeated in the Immortals, just look at Wellman Jnr and Cerezo, two of the most exciting fighters in the world, these guys are what it is all about, their fight will be terrific, its another fight that you just dont know who will prevail."

Richie "Whats happening with the 145 division, Shields looks the man?"

Steel: "Doesn't he just, but I said we would get June out of the way then set up a tourney. We need a champ so the top four will go at it to decide who is the champ in July. So if guys want the title they gotta get active and win some fights."

Richie "I have heard Bruno is out of town, is that true, for such a huge night for his camp?"

Sergio Morales, who despises Bruno Falcone walks past and chirps:

"Falcone, ahh he is gettin his gastric band fitted, then doin a week on a carrot farm, haha, haha. Hey, Richie, you broadcasting this, then, message to Orndorf, I am waiting man, we gotta do this."

Steel "Fuck off now Sergio, there's a good lad".

Richie "Mr Steel, Rua is fighting Cunha next, but Rua hasnt looked good recently even though he won his last fight, he got criticised, Ricky questioned his ground game, and prior to that he lost a split decision to Honnam, an average Muay Thai fighter. Is fighting Cunha a wise move?"

Steel "Gabe Rua asked for the fight, Cunha asked for the fight 6 months back. These guys go way back, there is a rivalry but its not bad blood. Rua knows what Tari brings, but Rua wants to face the best. Look, if he loses he learns, if he wins, great, we might have someone in our camp to challenge GSP, who incidentally looks sensational."

Richie " Jon Monroe looks a beast, and he whupped Hudock last time out, is he next in line?"

Steel "Looks that way, Monroe did exceptionally well, he was a huge underdog, much the younger guy, but he got the job done, and he should be an inspiration to all the younger fighters who question whether they can take on the older fighters. Monroe proves they can, and his camp are a growing force."

Jamaal McLellan breaks away from his conversation with Rory Lyons, and walks over to the table where Richie and Steel are sat.

Jamaal "Mr Steel, It's time, we gotta start getting Lupe ready, we need to make a move."

Steel "Ok, lets do this, Richie, thanks but time is up".

The Steel Camp begin to exit Bar D'Eau, its two hours until fight time.....

The DKJR Fight Camp Press Statement from Kid Coke

I would like to apologize to all my fans for not finishing Holmes. He had much better submission defense then I had anticipated, and we did not connect with all the power shots me and Roy Jones Jr. were working on for this bout. We will come back stronger and we are happy for the win.

INY Challengers XII Preview

May 30, 2012

The Underground (SOLD OUT!)

Rules: MMA

10 Point Must

Cage

Ladies and gentlemen, we've got another great Challengers event on our hands. What better way to spend a Wednesday night cooped up with a loved one inside The Underground, sitting in steel chairs and watching two guys beat the living hell out of one another? Nothing says "patriotism" like spending your Wednesday following Memorial Day doing just that! We have a great card for you showing some great fighters from many divisions. We've got 5 fights with undefeated streaks on the line, and one hell of a main event pitting 4-1 Pintor against 4-1 Smith. Two heavyweight managers (Steel and Falcone) are having their fighters duke it out for 155 supremacy and what could very well be a title shot against 8-1 Kirkland. A reminder that I'm 16-14 in picking so far, and as always, I have an upset of the night pick! I'm not going to preview one fight since one of my fighters is in it, but if someone wants to throw up a prediction and keys to victory, I'll stick it in there, courtesy of you!

Frank Steinberg (0-1) v. Irving Brown (0-0)

155 Division

(I will not preview this fight since I'm a part of it!)

KC Storm (1-2) v Terry Bradshaw (2-1)

170 Division

Prediction: Bradshaw

Keys to victory:

Storm: You can't box with him, hug it out, bro.

Bradshaw: Keep dancing around him, he can't handle your boxing

Frank Wheelock (1-0) v Irving Brown (1-0)

265+ Division

Prediction: Brown

Keys to victory:

Wheelock: The only advantage you have is wrestling, so control

Brown: Do whatever it takes to win, even if that means boxing!

Horror Bag (1-0) v Joe Gans (1-1)

145 Division

Predicton: Gans

Keys to victory:

Bag: Keep it in the clinch, that is your only real advantage

Gans: Stay on the outside, he is extremely good at wrestling and could grind it out

Shavo Odin (1-1) v Marcus Macino (2-1)

265 Division

Prediction: Odin

Keys to victory:

Odin: Get the fight to the ground, you're superior in wrestling and BJJ

Macino: Watch for his takedowns. Counter them with big pops!

Andy Arnold (2-0) v Volg Zangief (2-3)

265 Division

Prediction: Arnold

Keys to victory:

Arnold: Get the fight to the round, he has a lethal clinch game

Zangief: Try to keep the fight in the clinch, but don't be too aggressive, as you could find yourself tapping out quick

Delroy Holmes (3-1) v Kid Coke (2-2)

170 Division

Prediction: Coke (Upset of the Night)

Keys to victory:

Holmes: You're one dimensional, keep it in the clinch!

Coke: You need the fight everywhere but the clinch, if you get trapped in it, either break or takedown

Jock Stark (2-0) v Damian Babinski Jr (3-1)

205 Division

Prediction: Babinski

Keys to victory:

Stark: You need this fight on the ground, allow any takedown attempts and submit him from the bottom

Babinski: Don't go to the ground at all, you'd be playing with fire.

George W Bash (3-1) v Von Hammer (1-0)

170 Division

Prediction: Hammer

Keys to victory:

Bash: You need this fight on the ground fast, he has excellent KO power

Hammer: Sprawl 'n Brawl!

Lupe Pintor (4-1) v Corey Smith (4-1)

155 Division

Prediction: Smith

Keys to victory:

Pintor: You're well rounded, but you don't really want to box with Smith, he's only been taken down 7% of the time, so you need to pick your spots wisely or you could be looking at stars

Smith: He's a 55% takedown guy, so watch out for that. He's very well rounded, so use your advantage in boxing and stick with it.

Jock Stark:

Unlucky to Babinski, gettin submissioned in the last 2 seconds of the fight, that must hurt! A certin upset victory for me, my manager got a fair bit of cash from the immortals casino for that one too!

Kurt Edge has made a statement regarding dissension amongst his crew....

I am here to report that since 2 of my members cannot get on the same page I have had to separate training camps for Safdar Al Razi and Warren Hotop. I will spare the details, but Al Razi was caught filming Hotops workouts. When confronted by Hotop, Al Razi started screaming at Hotop calling him an ignorant and stupid simpleton. Hotop didn't seem to care as he reached of rthe camera Al Razi slapped him then kicked him in the knee and ran out the door and has been missing for 2 days.

Hotop released this statement

Post fight interview with "Thunder" Corey Smith

Ring Announcer: Great fight, Corey. Were you surprised by the outcome?

Corey Smith: How do you mean? Am I surprised I won? No. I was getting the better in the standup and was able to shut his ground game down. Just like I said. What I am surprised by is that Pintor was able to last the entire fight; that I wasn't able to put him away. Pintor is one tough guy.

Corey looks over to Pintor and gives him a two thumbs up

Ring Announcer: So what's next for you?

Smith: Well, it is no secret that the winner of this fight will face the champion next. So I fight Vladimir van Kirkland. (looks directly into the camera) Let's do this baby!

Announcer: A very excited Corey Smith calling out the champ.

Smith: I wouldn't say calling out the champion. I just earned that shot. I just want to say real fast before you go. Thanks to Brunno Falcone for all his help, all my trainers and Mr. Steel for putting on this show in the first place, but most of all thanks to the fans. You guys are the best! You keep me in the game. I know this fight wasn't the most exciting thing anyone has ever scene and I am sorry for that. When you fight someone as good as Pintor is you can't get all crazy, or you will get blasted. I tried to get the finish, he was just too tough.

Safdar Al Razi-

These unjust allegations by Hotop's trainer is jus cultural bias! He do not know that the art of the video tape should honor him by being the star! Instead big fat bald iodit yells at me and drools on me like hungry pig! If he come at me again I will not show mercy and destroy him and his piglets before he fights Zayed!

For Joey Jerkey, I have many beat downs to give you! You have beat no one and like to tap out like bitch! You need to call morgue to get you spot ready for funeral! I heard things about you, you like to slap your monkey! I will save monkey from beating!

INY Challengers XII Review

May 30, 2012

The Underground (SOLD OUT!)

Rules: MMA

10 Point Must

Cage

Challengers review, baby. What a set up event for a great card of INY GSP vs. Hall. The headline of this event was Smith vs. Pintor with some real title implications. I also had a vested interest in this card because my fighter kicked things off. So, fittingly, he'll kick off this review!

Frank Steinberg (0-1) v. Justin Torrens (0-0)

155 Division

Prediction: No prediction, since I had a dog in the fight.

We didn't have to wait long to get fight of the night honors between these two strikers. Going into this bout, it looked like it had the chance to be fight of the night, and it didn't disappoint. There were no takedowns, just pure brawling from a distance and in the clinch. Brown wanted to lock it up in the first round and go for some Muay Thai. After seemingly losing the first round, he came back to win the round with some devastating knees and punches. Steinberg didn't back away from the clinch in the second or third, despite losing the first round because of it. After a while, Torrens just looked tired, and Steinberg handily won both the second and the third with a good mix of boxing and dirty boxing in the clinch. Steinberg went on to get the victory by unanimous decision.

Winner: Steinberg

KC Storm (1-2) v Terry Bradshaw (2-1)

170 Division

Prediction: Bradshaw

I expected Bradshaw to win here with some solid boxing. Bradshaw only needed one head punch to rock Storm, and from there it was elementary. Before Storm knew what happened, he lost via TKO (strikes) in 30 seconds.

Winner: Bradshaw

Running Total: 1-0

Frank Wheelock (1-0) v Irving Brown (1-0)

265+ Division

Prediction: Brown

Here I expected Brown to win because of his supremacy in everything but boxing. Brown showed from the beginning he was willing to chop away at Wheelock to score some points. Chop he did, with a ton of leg kicks, trying to make Wheelock not be able to stand. Wheelock did land a takedown, but was unable to do much with it. The second and third were much like the first with Brown dominating, except we saw Brown's great Muay Thai ability in the third with some great knees. He showed some great kickboxing ability in this fight to get the easy unanimous decision victory.

Winner: Brown

Running Total: 2-0

Horror Bag (1-0) v Joe Gans (1-1)

145 Division

Predicton: Gans

Here I expected Gans to get the victory with better boxing. If Bag were to get the win, he would have to do it in the clinch. I certainly was wrong. From the getgo, we saw that Gans really wasn't interested in keeping the fight standing, and Bag was okay with this, since it was his one major weakness. We saw the fight on the ground for the most part with Bag seeking to control and use his superior wrestling skills. There was very little striking in the fight. In fact, the number of landed strikes was in the teens. What it came down to was control, and Bag showed more control in the fight, pulling out a unanimous decision over Gans.

Winner: Bag

Running Total: 2-1

Shavo Odin (1-1) v Marcus Macino (2-1)

265 Division

Prediction: Odin

I predicted that Odin would win this fight because he has superior wrestling and BJJ skills to Macino. Quite simply, if the fight could get to the ground, it should be over. Right at the beginning of the fight it looked like it would be Macino's fight. He put a good cut on Odin early, and that would surely slow him down, right? It proved to be quite the opposite, as Odin puled a Ben Stiller "Nobody makes me bleed my own blood. NOBODY!" Odin immediately took the fight to the ground and worked some GnP for the rest of the first round. The second round saw Macino with the advantage for a brief moment until Odin got the fight to the ground again. He wouldn't let the fight leave the second round, and ground and pounded his way to a TKO victory thanks to a vicious elbow.

Winner: Odin

Running Total: 3-1

Andy Arnold (2-0) v Volg Zangief (2-3)

265 Division

Prediction: Arnold

Here, Zangief had the experience advantage, but Arnold had that beautiful "0" in his loss column. Arnold needed the fight on the ground, while Zangief needed the fight to stay in the clinch. Zangief controlled the entire fight, as Arnold tried to get in 5 takedowns but was never successful. Oddly, Zangief did get the clinch, but continually broke the clinch, then clinched back up. In the end, it didn't matter. Zangief's knees were too much for Arnold to handle, and Arnold went down early in round one via a vicious knee at the 2:46 mark.

Winner: Zangief

Running Total: 3-2

Delroy Holmes (3-1) v Kid Coke (2-2)

170 Division

Prediction: Coke (Upset of the Night)

I had Coke here for the upset of the night over Holmes. I expected Coke to win the fight if he stayed away from the clinch. He did just that. Oddly enough, Holmes only got into the clinch on one occasion. Despite winning the final round with pure stand up, not going to his bread and butter is what I believe lost him the fight. Coke kept the first two rounds on the ground with some decent, though frequent submission attempts. The final round saw some stand up, but Holmes couldn't do enough to pull it out. Coke gets the 29-28 unanimous decision victory over Holmes.

Winner: Coke

Running Total: 4-2

Jock Stark (2-0) v Damian Babinski Jr (3-1)

205 Division

Prediction: Babinski

I had Babinski here. If he could keep the fight off the ground, he would do very well in this fight. Babinski can normally rely on his ground game to win him fights, but that was not something he'd be able to do her with a dangerous BJJ artist. Stark's only chance was to get the fight to the ground and make Babinski tap. In the first, Babinski was able to keep the fight standing more than it was on the ground. This gave him the edge with some good boxing, giving him the firts round over Stark despite many sub attempts on Stark's end. The second round immediately went to the ground and stayed there for the entire round. Essentially, Stark was able to control and put in a lot of sub attempts. He took the second round to even things up. The 3rd round saw the fight in the clinch and on the ground, it was all over the place. Babinski was controlling most of the round, and looked to be on his way to a 29-28 victory over Stark, but then it happened at the end of the round. The takedown, the sub attempt, and the tap with 2 seconds left in the round. Stark pulls out the stunning victory with the kimura at the 4:58 mark in the third round!

Winner: Stark

Running Total: 4-3

George W Bash (3-1) v Von Hammer (1-0)

170 Division

Prediction: Hammer

I thought Hammer was going to pull this one out because he looked primed and built to sprawl and brawl. If only Bash could get him to the ground. Well, Bash got him to the ground, and got him to the ground quick. He took his time and waited for his spots, with some ground and pound and a few sub attempts. He ended the fight at the 4:55 mark of the first round with a nasty armbar.

Winner: Bash

Running Total: 4-4

Lupe Pintor (4-1) v Corey Smith (4-1)

155 Division

Prediction: Smith

I felt Smith was going to pull out the victory here because of great takedown defense and an advantage in boxing. This fight really wasn't close. Pintor was able to only land one takedown, and he couldn't do anything with it. This allowed Smith to stay cautious and pick his spots. He boxed his way to a decision victory.

Winner: Smith

Running Total: 5-4

Fluffy "Cute" Kittens sits down at the post fight press conference, with a kitten in hand. He gently strokes the cat and clears his throat

http://blog.delicious.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/12/blog-kitten-man.png

FK: Ahem. Are there any questions for me tonight?

Reporter: Your third straight victory, all by submission. How are you able to make all of your opponents tap out?

FK: Ahem. You see, it is like I always say because of the kitties! When you give a little kitty a kitty toy, the kitty grabs and holds onto the toy for dear life. That is when I fight. My opponent is my new, shiny, kitty toy, and I just hold on for dear life. My opponent looks at me funny, and I say 'Hey, I'm a cute kitty and you're my toy!" I'm not sure if he taps because he's weirded out, or it actually hurts, but either way, it's effective.

Reporter: Where do you go from here?

FK: Ahem. Whips his rat tail around. As you can see, I am well groooomed. I like to take care of myself, much like well. Hmmm. Ah yes, much like a little kitty. You see, a kitty likes to lick, lick, lick himself and keep himself well grooomed. I'd like to keep grooming myself as a fighter. I want to work my way to the top and establish myself. I want to train under Fox's tutelage until I work my way up to become the champion. The best. The top... hmm, what's the animal I'm looking for?

Reporter: Top dog?

FK: Ahem. Fluffy adjusts his rat tail. He stands up, and gently places the kitten on the floor. He pulls down his shirt, then SLAMS his hands on the table. He grabs his chair, and throws it at the reporter and let's out a blood curdling scream, his face turns bright red and his veins start to bulge. WHAT DID YOU SAY?

Fluffy hops into the crowd and gets right in the face of the reporter, asking him to repeat himself.

Reporter: The, uh, the.. uh.. top.. kitten?

Fluffy smiles, and pats the reporter on the head, and calmly walks back to the mic. He needs to bend down as his chair is gone.

FK: Ahem. Ah, yes. That was what I was looking for. I want to be the best, the champion. I want to be the top kitten. Anymore questions?

The reporters in the room look stunned and slowly shake their heads. The room is completely silent.

FK: Ahem. Well, thank you, then. We'll see you next time!

Fluffy grabs his kitten, and walks out of the conference room.

Taco Bueno.

"Hello Immortals, my name is Taco, Taco Bueno is my full name. My father was going to call me Keith, but then he ate a taco, and, well, the rest is history.

Tomorrow night I make my debut in Immortals, after Mr Steel rescued me when I was released by my manager in Tokyo. I will fight journeyman Paul Orndorf in the cage, and I think it will be a good fight. Paul Orndorf is a true warrior, and I know he has taken much criticism and unfair insults in the past, but we are fighters and that is all that matters. I am above sledging and trash talk to hype a fight. If Paul has a small manhood and is of limited intelligence I am not the small minded moron that would use this to rile my opponent, to hurt his feelings, his family or anyone. As I say, I have great respect for Paul and people like him, and I wish him well. So to tomorrow night my warrior opponent, I look forward to very much."

Paul Orndorf: Taco Bueno seems to be a pretty good dude, and don't talk no shit. So, for once, I can get on here and just talk about the fight and my opponent instead of gettin' all mad and shit. Bueno, you showed respect, you get respect.

Bueno looks like yet another in a long string of wrestler types that I been having to fight lately, but I plan on doing what needs to be done to win this fight. It should be a challenge for me but I think I can do it. And afterwards we can all go back to doing what we do.

I don't know what sledging means, but if it means that you don't talk no shit, then you are alright in my book. Good luck, dude.

INY 19: Hall VS GSP Fallout

By

Dean Holliday

The MMA world was “floored”” last Saturday, June 2nd at the Immortals New York’s “ INY 19 Hall VS GSP” held at “The Underground”. The underdog, Kirk “War” Hall, at 4-0, managed by Jay Bittner, went up against 6-0 "Rush" Georges St Pierre managed Mateusz Buchholz for the INY Welterweight Championship . After losing the first 4 rounds on all scorecards, with 1 second left in the final round (yes..I said 1 second left as in 4:59 of the 5th round), Kirk “War” Hall shocked the world by throwing a right hook that would become legendary, and one for the story books. It was a shot that gives hope to every underdog out there. It was a right hook that that made GSP look like overcooked pasta and Kirk Hall the new INY Welterweight Champion. I was so shocked at by this fight, I just HAD to get an interview with Kirk Hall’s manager, Jay Bittner and here it is:

(DEAN) - Jay, you have an impressive record of 108-37-2. You are also a member of an elite alliance within INY called the "Evil Empire". My question is, “Why haven’t I heard of you before” ??? LOL Most INY followers recognize your fellow members like Peel Steel, Jon Boogi, and Troy Melton. “Where have you been hiding?

(JAY) I don't think many managers have heard of me. Very little self-promotion or socializing with the community. Most of my camp train out of our gym and I try to spread my fighters around to different organizations so that there is no conflict of interest. The camp also broke up and stopped competing for a while, so... This is our comeback. It's going very well.

(DEAN) As of June 2nd, you have 2 fighters with belts .Nice night bro! How many belts do you currently have?

(JAY) There are four current titleholders in Camp Jersey. Of course, Kirk Hall(5-0). Jay Bitaskis(5-0), Joe Belanger(21-5), and Ian Carter(10-5) also hold titles in other promotions, though Bitaskis' is no longer with Illuminati Productions. They ceased operations recently.

(DEAN) What were your thoughts going into the Hall / GSP fight? Did you think you had a chance?

(JAY) I knew Hall had a chance. I knew Hall could KO him. I did think it'd go to the ground, though. I honestly thought it was going to end with Hall landing a triangle or armbar from guard, but Georges did a great job trying to avoid any guard-play and stalling in top position and playing it defensive.

(DEAN) What were your fight plans against GSP, what weakness did you see?

(JAY) He doesn't have much in the way of weaknesses, but I knew Hall is a finisher. He is a killer. As great a control grappler Georges is, I knew all Hall needed was one second. One mistake. That's how he trains and that's how he fights. The fact that it came at the very last second of five rounds makes the whole thing that much more surreal and dramatic.

(DEAN) What did you do the moment you heard the ref say "it's over, winner Hall"!!! Be honest. You literally pissed yourself and let out a "F*ck Yea" or "Praise 8lbs 6 oz Baby Jesus" didn’t you!!

(JAY) Hard not to go nuts with an ending like that. It has to be the most amazing KO I've ever witnessed in what is also a completely relevant and high-end fight between two of the top prospects around. I had to scream didn't you? LOL

(DEAN) Did GSP's manager send you a "Well done, good fight", or a "You are sooooo friggin lucky and a " I hate you" tweet? LOL

(JAY) Hah, no. I have not heard from his manager. I can't imagine seeing that fight from his shoes

(DEAN) With a record like yours as a manager, do you get nervous fighting against other elite managers? I mean let's face it, YOU ARE ELITE yourself... you are in the Top 1% of MMA managers.

(JAY) No, I don't put TOO much stock in other managers. I try to game-plan against the fighter, not the manager. To be honest, though, due to the nature of Camp Jersey's absence and it just now getting back to full steam, we are just now getting back into the really, really big fights.

(DEAN) What kind of relationship do you have with the Evil Empire, and INY. Is it a heated rivalry or more of a friendly bond?

(JAY) It's my alliance. As a camp we try to win and fuel our alliance's ranking. Of course, to me, it's secondary to individual fighters at any given time. As far as INY, I have two fighters there and expect no special treatment for being part of the alliance. I could not even tell you if any of our guys have fought each other.

(DEAN) Now that you have absolutely shocked the MMA world with a KO of GSP, will you give him a re-match or will you make him wait a few fights?

(JAY) He will have to win at least one fight I know, as Hall is already booked to defend his title on the Fourth of July. I don't usually make special demands, I take the fights offered, so long as they are fair and not detrimental to my fighters. But yeah, after being knocked out, I'd like him to win AT LEAST one fight before a rematch. Think he'd wanna risk a repeat that quickly?

(DEAN) What do you say to those who will undoubtedly say , "Lucky shot, and lightening won't strike twice"?

(JAY) It will. It wasn't luck and it wasn't a lightning strike. It just seems that way because of the timing. The people who would say that might want to consider the heart, determination, and drive Hall showed while winning before doubting him again. You think other guys would be scoring a huge KO like that after a fight like that? Well, I should say, you think many guys would even be capable of that?

(DEAN) What are your upcoming plans? Any title fights or defenses that we should know about? Any new fighters to watch from your stable?

(JAY) Kirk Hall will be defending July 4th against an unnamed opponent. Jay Bitaskis will be dropping to 205 and competing in the NAF LHW tournament. Joe Belanger just won his seventh title fight at thirty-one years old, and as far as prospects, Bobby Henderson will be competing in the new MMATycoon school 6 month, MW tournament.

(DEAN)Jay, thanks for your time and we will be watching you and the fighters from Camp Jersey for sure! That wraps it up, I'm Dean Holliday with last night's glass shoe from Cinderella story Jay Bittner and Mr. Kirk Hall. See YOU at the fights.

INY Challengers XIII Preview

June 6, 2012

Wild Bob's Bar - New York (SOLD OUT!)

Rules: MMA

10 Point Must

Cage

We have a great card for Challengers XIII. At the top of the card we'll get a little clarity in the 155 division. Is Davinchi the true architect of MMA, or is he another wannabe? His undefeated streak is on the line. At the bottom of the card we see more people with similar styles with a few exceptions. Towards the top we see real contrasts in styles. What will prevail, the boxers, muay thai experts, or those who specialize in BJJ? Two fights will not be previewed since I have a fighter throwing down. It'll be a wild one! (PS, I don't know why the formatting is out of whack, I rechecked it twice and nothing seems to be wrong)

Mateusz Wolodyjowski (0-0) v. Vilhelm Alminglikish (0-1)

170 Division

Prediction: No prediction, since I had a dog in the fight.

Paul Orndorf (3-6) v Taco Bueno (0-0)

185 Division

Prediction: Bueno

Keys to victory:

Orndorf: DO NOT go to the ground. He's a black belt. He's a ninja.

Bueno: You're a ninja. Use your ninja skills. Get him to the ground.

Jim Marx (1-0-1) v Jonny Blunt (2-0)

205 Division

Prediction: Jim Marx

Keys to victory:

Marx: This is very evenly matched, your real advantage is BJJ, so get it to the ground

Blunt: You have a very slight edge in boxing and MT, so you want to exploit that as much as you can.

Kevin Hawkins (1-0) v Courdoroy Shilenko (1-0)

145 Division

Predicton:

No prediction, I have a dog in the fight.

Whack Bag (1-0) v Joaquin Logan (1-0)

205 Division

Prediction: Joaquin Logan

Keys to victory:

Bag: Your real edge is in boxing and MT, so keep the fight on your feet

Logan: You want the fight on the ground. He has useless wrestling and a white belt.

Cung Lee (4-3) v Daniel McCraig (3-2)

170 Division

Prediction: Daniel McCraig

Keys to victory:

Lee: You only have a slight advantage in boxing, and in wrestling. Take the boxing advantage and run with it

McCraig: Keep it close, whether that be in the clinch or on the ground.

Matt Hart (3-2) v Dragoslav Stoyanovich (2-0)

205 Division

Prediction: Stoyanovich

Keys to victory:

Hart: You want anything but the clinch. You can make him tap, and are able to box with him

Stoyanovich: You want this fight in the clinch and to knock him out with some solid strikes. Stay away from the ground.

Tohino Cerezo (4-4) v Shane Wellman Junior (5-5)

155 Division

Prediction: Tohino Cerezo

Keys to victory:

Cerezo: You want this fight on the ground.

Wellman Jr.: Clinch or box.

Joe Saunders (4-2) v Sonny Hills (4-1)

155 Division

Prediction: Joe Saunders

Keys to victory:

Saunders: Keep the fight standing or risk tapping out

Hills: You need to get he fight to the ground, he can knock you out

Basileo Gallegos (4-1) v Leonardo Davinchi (3-0)

155 Division

Prediction: Leonardo Davinchi

Keys to victory:

Gallegos: You need the fight on the ground, he has lethal MT

Davinchi: Clinch and hold on for dear life

Another random punch knockout, seriously.. one normal punch dosent randomly knock out a guy lol

Actually, Shane, it does happen all the time. I point to a few prominent cases.

One was the fight with Chris Leben (I forget who he was fighting) when he was staggered and looked like he was about to get finished. Out of nowhere came this bomb that flattened his opponent and Chris pounced and finished him with some GnP.

Another case was Rich Franklin vs. Chuck Liddel. Liddel had Franklin up against the cage, had broken his arm and had rocked him with a good punch. He moved in for the kill and Franklin dropped a nice clean shot on the inside and lights out Chuck.

Rashad Evans vs. Chuck Liddel. Both men going for huge punches. Rashad was faster... Liddel gets laid out.

GSP vs. Matt Serra - GSP was being GSP and dominating the fight when... BAM! KO punch from out of nowhere.

Shane Carwin vs. Gabriel Gonzaga. Gabriel had Carwin on the cage and Carwin came back with a jab and a cross that ended the fight.

The list goes on and on. It happens all the time. In fact, especially so in the heavier weight classes, one clean punch can end the fight at any time. I am a heavyweight currently, but have fought at all weight classes from Bantamweight on up. As I got to the heavier classes you see more and more KO's from one or two punches. Hell I have done them. Land one clean and it's an early night. I'm not even a KO specialist, but most my fights end by KO or TKO. I am very precise with my punches and big enough that when one lands clean... I'll knock someone out.

So to tomorrow night my warrior opponent, I look forward to very much."

i heard they have taco bueno in the food court at the highschool.
