EPL semi-final 1:

Corrida vs Socha

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/30/30b25.jpg VS http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/13792863967574.png

This fight is a very interesting one. These guys actually have met eachother before in the octagon, in the second round of the regular EPL season. Corrida tried very hard to get the takedown in that fight , but Socha wasn't going to let Corrida take him down often and not for very long either. He didn't get the chance to really showcase his BJJ against Socha and he lost a decision. During the season, as in his entire career, Corrida showed that he is nearly impossible to finish. None of his EPL opponents so far have been able to submit or (t)KO him. That's a big prove of his incredible toughness and he will try to use that combined with his groundgame to try and advance to the final of this prestigious tournament. There is one man who can stop him from achieving this goal and that's Karl Socha.

He has shown to be one of the favorites during the entire season and the money that I bet on him might give me some profit in the end :P

With the betting favorite, Cormac Gutz now out of the tournament after a loss in the quarter finals, Socha has the odds in his favor.

It's not just a fight between fighters, but also between managers. Rory Daly has been doing great lately and has achieved his highest ranking ever as we speak. He also started his own new alliance, filled with great managers, so either he has learned already from them, or he has been doing more average until the real important moment in his manager career came; EPL. It's pretty clear that he will be very motivated to avenge his loss against JLP's fighter .

JLP on the other hand is known to be a top manager and probably one of the top slider specialists in the game. The former number one manager is going up the rankings again and will be looking to prove that his first win over Corrida had nothing to do with luck, but that he can outclass him every time.

The fight seems to be a ground fighter vs striker matchup and it will be fascinating to see if Corrida can take advantage of his BJJ advantage this time, or if he will lose again. Corrida has the wrestling advantage and is hard to finish, but Socha has the tools to beat him and has proven that already in the past.

Prediction: Socha by decision

EPL semi-final 2:

Idi oCrazy vs Tantalus Flay

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14095825248072.gif VS http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/15/15w17.jpg

This danish prodigy has had an amazing run in EPL so far and nobody was expecting him to do this great, most likely not even his own manager. He had a tough time from fight 3-5 in EPL, but went on a 4 fight winning streak in his next fights and advanced to the playoffs. He was the youngest fighter to join EPL this season and the kid has shown his worth for sure. After another impressive display in the quarter finals against JD Wildstein, he has moved up to 10th place worldwide in his division. Don't taunt this guy as he will make you pay for it. Mormeck once said that he would rip his irritating tongue out , but he got KO'd quickly by the almighty Idi oCrazy in just over one minute. He has excellent grappling and is as dangerous as they get when he unleashes his gnp to smash his opponent's face in.

Flay is actually an interesting fighter as well, since he replaced another team member of his manager, after some crappy results, and started out by losing his first fight in EPL against JD Wildstein. Yes, JD , the fighter Idi oCrazy just won his quarter final against. But don't let that fool you, as Flay would go on to win his next 5 fights in EPL and also win his quarter final. He was very proud with his quarter final win, as his manager is now 7-0 against Mega Jug. Flay has the same ability to smash people from mount, but has better boxing, so he might be looking to use his boxing to get passed our danish young friend.

Thor HGH is a veteran manager with a great 693-394-11 record and is a consistent top 100 manager in the rankings. Scott Davies is a true veteran manager as well with a huge 736-574-24 record. This fight really is a battle of giants and the question is who will be slain.

Prediction: Flay by (t)KO

Big congrats to Juan Corrida and Idi oCrazy for making it to the finals!

You two proved my predictions in my preview for the semi-finals to be wrong. Corrida his win over Socha was a very close one, but if you don't want the judges to decide, I guess Socha should have finished it, so he can't be mad about it.

What to say about oCrazy then! He scored a fabulous submission victory after being rocked earlier in the fight. The 26 year old prodigy has moved up to 26th p4p now. Amazing job by Thor HGH!

It will be an honor writing a preview for the final. I'm looking forward to it and hopefully I can make it a great read!

Good fight Jamison. Not sure how you won the 4th round as pulling guard shouldn't really score point like a TD does and he only tried 3 sub attempts, 2 of which ended in him giving up position & he ended up in mount bottom after spending the whole 2nd half the round on his back pretty much but hey lucky result for you!

Preview for the EPL Final

11692493_1188366737856073_42581059415010

The night we all have been waiting for is nearly upon us. After an amazing regular season, the top 8 fighters went on to the playoffs to determine who would be crowned the EPL king. The 8 fighters that qualified were mostly no surprises as they were the favorites and top contenders according to the bookmakers before the start of the season. Cormac Gutz cruised during the regular season and qualified as the betting favorite to win the show. Mikey Hart had his fingers crossed that he wouldn't go on to win the entire show I guess as he gave some very interesting odds for Gutz at the start of the tournament, so he was bound to lose a lot of money if Cormac would have won EPL. Luckily for MIkey, that is no longer possible.

The 8 fighters who qualified for the playoffs were :

1. Cormac Gutz 9-1 (22)
2. Tantalus Flay 7-3 (17)

3. JD Wildstein 8-2 (16)

4. Karl Socha 7-3 (16)

5. Umbra Uxxarest 6-4 (16)

6. Idi oCrazy 6-4 (15)

7. John Jamison 6-4 (15)

8. Juan Corrida 6-3-1 (14)

As you can see, the two finalists actually were ranked 6th and 8th at the beginning of the playoffs, so some interesting things happened for sure. In the quarter finals, all fights were won by decision, and it were Idi oCrazy, Tantalus Flay, Juan Corrida and Karl Socha who advanced.

The semi-final matchups were :

Idi oCrazy vs Tantalus Flay

and

Juan Corrida vs Karl Socha

Idi scored an amazing submission win against Flay after being rocked earlier on in the fight, so a great comeback win from the 26 year old Danish fighter. Juan Corrida on the other hand won by a closely contested split decision win, that some will hold the Japanese judges accounted for.

The first finalist of EPL is Idi oCrazy. The career of Idi reads almost as a fairytale, because he has proven a lot of guys wrong, including me. I knew that he had a chance of doing well, but not that he would end up having a shot at the huge cash price for the winner. When Idi grew up in Denmark, he was a bit of an outsider at an early age, as he sort of had this crazy thing going on with his tongue. He spent more time with the doctor than he should have , but later I heard a rumour that it was because the nurse was fascinated by his tongue and the stuff he could do with it. What exactly happened all those years in her office, I'll leave that up to your imagination...

That being said, he is not only great with his tongue, but he has developped in an amazing allround MMA fighter. When he started training, he bought a heavybag and trained twice a week. That doesn't seem like a lot, but his calm appraoch clearly paid off later on. As he began training more and more, he also got a lot more handsome. Combine this with his obvious tongue skills and you all know that girls were more than a little intrigued by him. Rumor has it that he has had more girls in his bed ( or somewhere else) than Homer has eaten donuts...

When you combine all of his amazing attributes, it becomes clear fast that we have a special fighter on our hands here. Idi will enter the final as the betting favorite and it will be interesting to see if the danish prodigy can cope with such enormous pressure. Millions will be watching this fight from all around the world, so it's not easy to stay calm in such moments, but something tells me that he can. I don't know if it's his crazy demeanor or just his Danish roots, but he gives me the feeling that he doesn't fold under pressure.

The second finalist is Juan Corrida. When he enters an arena, the crowd goes wild and sing ' There is only one Juan' until the cage door closes. His manager seems amazed with how far he has come as well, since he actually wasn't 100% sure at the start of the tournament if he would enter him or another fighter. I bet he isn't regretting his choice now! Juan has always been a lively and fun guy and is known as the 'party pooper'. At 37 years old, this nickname still suits him well, as he will look to spoil the party of the betting favorite once more. Another part of why he got this nicknames is that when he goes to parties, he tends to sit on the toilet for a long time and people think that he is taking a shit then, but that's just him beatboxing actually, while he is enjoying his smoke.

Juan comes from a more wrestling orientated background and has trained himself up to become a very complete martial artist as well. He is hard to finish and that might prove to be a very important factor in the final. HIs olympic wrestling , combined with his toughness makes him a very tough nut to crack. He isn't an amazing flashy finisher, but his mindset and durability make him a very hard opponent for anyone in the business.

Manager comparison:

Thor HGH is the manager of Idi oCrazy and has actually worked with him from the beginning. Idi is at the moment his highest ranked fighter (29th p4p) and he can make a jump once again if he wins the final. Coming out of Iceland, Thor has an overall historic record of 699-395-11 and his highest ranking is 4th worldwide. He currently is ranked 23th and has been a top 100 manager ( and top 50 most of the time) for as long as I can remember. His team has won 8 out of their last 10 fights, so things are going great and he will be pumped for this fight. He is a smart, experienced top manager and is managing the betting favorite for the final.

Rory Daly is a scottish manager with an overall historic record of 272-232-7. We all know that scottish people can be really good at this game, considering how my great friend Dean Sutherland ( also known as Dinooo) has been dominating for a long time.

He has this to say about himself : ' I am the king of scrubs, the gate keeper that divides the good managers and the bad managers, the guy that wil make you question your career in tycoon if you lose to me... I am... Rory Daly'

I think those words don't do justice to how good he is anymore. He is 9-0-1 in his last 10 fights and seems to be on a roll. I don't know if it's thanks to the new alliance that he created and the influx of great managers in it, but it must be said that he for sure has been doing amazing lately. He is even leading his pack and is ranked 29th worldwide, an alltime high for him.

Both these managers are clearly on top of their game and things are going great for both. This one will be a great manager battle as well for sure and I'm curious to find out who will get another win added to his historic record.

Prediction

The bookmakers see Juan Corrida as the underdog and believe strongly in Idi oCrazy. I personally think they are perhaps underestimating Corrida a bit. He is certainly not as big of an underdog as some crazy bookmakers think. This might be a golden opportunity to bet some money on Corrida and cash in big. I do give the advantage to Idi oCrazy, but not by a big margin. Corrida knows how to win by decision and his experience might prove an important factor in this fight. It's a 5 round fight, so anything can happen and certainl when fatigue sets in. Corrida his olympic wrestling might be very important in this fight to up his chances of winning. If Idi can fight that off, Corrida will be in trouble. Considering all the strenghts and weaknesses of both fighters, I would predict that Idi oCrazy gets the job done by (t)KO in the 4th round.

The winner of EPL is...

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/0/14095825248072.gif

Idi oCrazy

Big congrats for your amazing performances throughout the tournament!

With this win, he has gone up on the rankings even more and is now in the elite regions of his division and p4p.

To many spectator's surprise, it was not Idi, but Juan who started of the best in the final. He dominated the first two rounds by being far more active. Idi oCrazy was landing a higher percentage, but was losing on the scoreboard because Juan was the more active fighter. Perhaps he pushed the gas pedal a bit too much as Juan started to get tired in the 3rd round. When a low kick of him did not land late in the 3rd round, Idi oCrazy didn't hesitate and landed a big jab flush on his jaw. Juan Corrida was rocked and tried to throw a wild punch, but missed enabling Idi to counter and landing one more crushing blow that put Juan Corrida on the floor. oCrazy his killer instincts kicked in and the referee had to step in and stop the fight.

You can see the replay of the fight here.

Big congrats to both of the finalists and the huge money pool will be sent out soon those lucky few .

I would like to thank all managers/fighters involved in this season of EPL and wish you all the best. This was a great and fun season I think and that is all thanks to you guys. I hope that you all enjoyed it and that you all look forward to a next season.
