Guest
Watched him on Bmma 2 and he is def a future UFC fighter Hopefully he gets comfortable on hes feet before this but I have no doubt that this dude will fight for UFC some day. In that Bmma 2 fight he looked like he could strike with the guy but when the leather started to fly he went to hes bread and butter straight away which is choking ppl out obviously. =) Don't get me wrong. I think thats the best gameplan if you're as good as he is on the ground but when he enters the octagon for UFC the opponent will be on another level too. I suppose Gunnar would just have to take him down to the ground as well. More work for him, I guess?

Guest
War Machine called out Gunnar a few days ago via his Twitter account. "I want Gunnar Nelson next in BAMMA 4! WM gonna bring the lil Icelandic phenom his first LOSS!!!!" From what I understand Gunnar liked the idea of fighting him and the word is that they will fight on BAMMA 4 (don't know if there is a date yet). I don't think anything has been signed but I've heard that both men have accepted the fight verbally and all that is left is just signing the dotted line. This would be Gunni's biggest fight is his short career and a win over a well known name could really put him on the map.
Guest
so BAMMA finally paid War Machine?
Guest
No I don't think they've paid him (or the other fighters), it was on his twitter today that they hadn't paid him yet. The "challenge" was posted sometime late May, shortly after the BAMMA 3 event.
Guest
Last fight Gunni won Danny Mitchell (8-2). He RNC'ed him within 3 minutes of the first round. I'm being told that Danny was Gunni's toughest opponent so far, any of the UK guys here know anything about Mitchell. Rumors are that Nelson's next fight will be Eugene Fadiora (9-0) at Bamma 4, Sept 25th.
Guest
Gunnar will undoubtedly be facing his toughest test up to date when he fights Eugene Fadiora at BAMMA 4 in the NIA Arena in Birmingham England on September 25th. Many consider Fadiora to be England’s greatest welterweight prospect being 10-0 in his professional career so both fighters will be putting their unbeaten record on the line. Gunnar will be going to Dublin to train under John Kavanagh for this fight. http://www.gunnarnelson.info/images/2010/fadiora-vs-nelson2.jpg http://www.gunnarnelson.info/
Guest
http://sherdogblog.craveonline.com/blog/2010-09-27#27146 Undefeated Icelandic prospect Gunnar Nelson posted his eighth consecutive victory in a featured matchup at British Association of Mixed Martial Arts 4 on Saturday, as he submitted Eugene Fadiora with a first-round rear-naked choke at the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, England. Fadiora, who entered the match unblemished in nine previous bouts, met his demise 3:51 into round one. Nelson, a can’t-miss up-and-comer in the welterweight division by most accounts, took down Fadiora, passed to side mount and weakened him with hammerfists before securing the fight-ending choke. A Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt under Renzo Gracie, the 22-year-old Reykjavik, Iceland, native finished fourth in the absolute division at the 2009 Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championships. Nelson has stopped his last three foes inside one round. Gunni keeps winning and I keep bumping this thread. Show the kid some love!

Guest
Nelson really needs to start stepping up his level of opposition. He's clearly so much better than the current level of domestic prospects and contenders in the UK and Europe that he's not really gaining anything by continuing to beat them other than to fill out his record. That said it's often hard to put together top opponents across the European scene (look at the trouble we had finally getting Mills and Wallhead across the cage from each other). Hopefully one of the higher level orgs picks him up soon and he gets to face some better competition.
ClarkKent
That kids siiiiick! i literally had to go create a fighter with his name and wondeful BJJ after watching him, hahahaha Nelson for the UFC!
MattyBlayze
http://www.sherdog.com/news/articles/6/10-...h-in-2011-29445 Gunnar Nelson (8-0-1) Nelson is perhaps the truest bona fide elite prospect on the European scene today. The Renzo Gracie black belt introduced himself to the wider MMA community with a spectacular campaign in the absolute bracket on 2009's Abu Dhabi Combat Club World Championships, outgrappling much larger former heavyweight champ Jeff Monson and choking out David Avellan. In 2010, the Icelander came back to MMA competition and notched three quick victories, dominating Brit hopefuls Danny Mitchell and Eugene Fadiora and tapping both. For all his BJJ prowess -- frankly, unmatched on the continent -- Nelson was a karateka first, and is no slouch as a striker. He's able to throw the kinds of heavy, precise strikes we see in other top karate exports like Lyoto Machida and Katsunori Kikuno. Nelson is the total package, and the only things that will hold him back in 2011 are opponents not wanting to face him, or a decision to focus on ADCC 2011.
