Fight fans in Saint Petersburg are in for a treat this Monday night when Blaze MMA presents Round 2 of the Middleweight Tournament.  8 exciting fights are on tap as 4 fighters will move on to the semifinals after this big event at Hayashi’s Lounge before a frenzied crowd of Russian fight fans.  We caught up with a young contender from Detroit, Elay Arson who was partying with the Russian Village Boys at a club downtown and he gave us his picks and insight for the big event.

Reflecting on his personal thoughts leading to this event Arson commented, “I’ve had a solid camp at Underground Rio in Brazil leading into this event.  There are some ground game specialists in this tournament and you go to train with the best and raise your game.  I’m taking tonight to chill out and party with the most fun musical group in all of Russia tonight – maybe shoot a live video for YouTube who knows but come Monday it’s all work when I hit that cage.”

In the opening fight Khabib Chimaev (0-0-1) and Ben Hornby (0-1-1) have a redo after their last bought was a draw.  Chimaev was thrashing Hornby in the first two rounds, the last round was all Hornby.  I don’t know about a 10-8 for Hornby to cause a draw but I’m a fighter not a judge.  Don’t leave it in the hands of the judges and you won’t have to blame anyone for a loss or a draw.  That all said I think Hornby comes in and executes that round three gameplan and wins with a smothering ground game.  Unfortunately these guys don’t like to bang and the crowd rarely gets fired up for a wrestling match.  Hornby by decision.

The second match with Matt Hughes (3-1) and Scotty DeGuardio (1-1) will most likely see a finish.  DeGuardio won his last fight via submission event though he is only a white belt, but Hughes is a far superior BJJ practitioner with his purple belt.  Like I said I have had to work on my ground game coming into this tourney and it’s because of guys like Hughes.  I see this quickly going to the ground and not working out for Scotty if it goes there.  As much as it pains me to predict here unless Scotty keeps this standing I think he gets submitted here.  Hughes by submission.

I don’t know anything about either of the fellas in the third fight.  Demetrius Cadmo and Tut Kaman are both making their debuts.  From what I have heard they are both solid wrestlers with ground focused styles but Cadmo has better jiu jitsu.  The gambler in me would say that the wrestler will find himself in trouble if he ends up on his back.  I’ll say Cadmo by submission.

The next fight has one of the most dangerous guys in this tournament Carcareh Catartes comes in at 3-1 and all his finishes have come via KO.  I especially like that Cartates knocked out Matt Hughes and never allowed a takedown so far in his career.  This is a guy I’d like to face off with to test my chin against a powerful dude.  He’s facing off against Martins Voranovskis (1-0) who had a nice submission victory in the first round of the tourney but I don’t think he has the wrestling to take down Catartes.  Carartes will keep his opponent at range and eventually land a shot that will end this fight.  Catartes by KO and most likely KO of the night.

My opponent Gaidar Nabiev (1-0) scored a slick guillotine victory over his first tourney opponent.  I think I have slicker wrestling then Nabiev and my ground game is solid.  I still think that is where I can improve the most, I’ve been submitted in grappling tourneys and I can’t say I like being in a position where my jitsu has to save me.  I’m not going to give my game plan away but I can say I plan to and predict I will win this fight and advance to the final four.

Vitor Donato (0-0) is a fill in opponent and I know he has a big size advantage over Ryan Williams (1-0).  Williams chin was not tested in his first pro fight where he used his superior wrestling to take the fight to the mat where he pummeled his opponent.  Donato will have to use his size to keep the fight at range or he will find himself on his back being rained on with elbows and fists.  I’ll have to go with Williams here, he has proven he can get in there and brawl.  Williams by TKO.

The co-main event – well I know both these guys and since they are from the same “camp” I’m not sure they wanted to fight each other but that’s the breaks in tournaments.  Both Dobs Breckin (1-1) and Vladimir Zhanna (1-1) have tasted victor and defeat in the cage with their victories coming by KO.  Breckin is a big puncher and will have to keep this fight standing in my opinion to win.  Zhanna scored a lucky head kick in his last fight and then overwhelmed his foe with superior ground and pound.  I think Breckin has watched the tape and will keep this one on the feet at all costs and protect himself from the freak high kick.  If this turns into a boxing match which is what I am predicting it will be Breckin with his arm raised in the end.  I’ll say Breckin by KO in 2.

The main event features Darrion McKee (1-0) and Freddy Salamanca (1-1) and while I get the excitement over this McKee fella the Catartes/Voranovskis or Hughes/DeGuardio fight should have headlined this card.  No I’m not bitter, I’m not ready for a main event but Blaze is trying to hype this clown McKee as their anointed champion before the tournament even started and that’s some old fashioned bullshit and I’m going to call it as I see it.  You know I want Salamanca to win this fight but I wouldn’t lay a bet on it you know what I’m saying.  I went to Rio to work my ground game because my manager said this tourney was stacked so McKee would make it to the finals.  I’m not saying anything is fixed or anything but if I was betting I’d wager on their golden boy.

Tickets are still available at the Hayashi box office!

Jermaine Lazer: "Damn, thats a hard ass training session coach! Whats this all about, have I got another fight booked?!"

*Jermiane discards the empty volvic bottle onto the floor and looks up at Daniel expectedly. Hes met with a sly smirk from his long time friend and training partner Daniel Craythorne. Jermaine raises his eyebrow imploring Daniel to continue.*

Daniel Craythorne: "Jermaine, I'm buzzing for ya! All you're hard work has passed off mate!"

Darrion Black Ice McKee spoke to Blaze MMA press a few days before his fight in the second round of the tournament.

Press : Darrion , recently Elay Arson spoke about the second round of the tournament and he really went off when talking about you. According to him you are the companies " Golden Boy" and to him you are a " Clown". He doesn't seem to like that you are in the main event in this round or the last. What if anything do you think about Arson's thoughts?

Darrion: I don't give a shit what dude has to say. He's mad because I got the headlines,

cry me a river bruh. I am in the main event because of popularity,  I am the most popular fifty fiver and it's quite funny because I have only one pro fight. I was brought in for this tournament specifically.

Press : Do you think that Elay is jealous of your popularity?

Darrion :  These guys in this tournament have been around forever , they've been fighting forever. Here I am with no TWGC experience  , no fight experience and I am loved by the fans. People aren't tuning in to see any of these guys. They want to see Black Ice and they're going to get me.

Press : Do you see yourself as a favorite to win this tournament?

Darrion : I don't see how I could be the favorite considering I am the least experienced. I am just the guy that the fans want to see win this thing. I am working my ass off to be the man that wins it all for them.

Press : Arson claims he moved to Rio De Janeiro to train and be ready for your ground game. What training have you done to prepare for your next opponent Freddy Salamanca?

Darrion : I train daily at a private gym in Los Angeles,  California.  I'm in America with elite one on one training. I am surrounded by killers in the gym every day and night. Freddy is good , his bjj is decent. We are both purple belts but he has a loss on his record and that loss happens to be something I haven't experienced yet.

Press : If you and Arson do meet in the future how do you see that fight going?

Darrion :  It took me half a round to finish Marek and send a message to everyone in my division. I know there are guys with better skill sets then me , I know there are guys who have more experience than me but nobody wants to be at the top like I do. So if I see Arson or anyone else in the cage for that matter one thing you can count on is my heart and will to win. Some guys may have better bjj , some guys may have better stand up and some guys may have better wrestling but nobody is matching my heart. I'm coming into round two to make a statement.

Darrion smiles before walking off.

BLAZE 155lb TOURNAMENT ROUND 2 ------- REVIEW

BLAZE 155lb Tournament Round 2 is officially over. Some celebrated as they advanced to the next round and some were very disappointed with their performance. Lets take a look at some of the amazing fights we just had in the Hayashi's Lounge!

KHABIB CHIMAEV VS BEN HORNBY

This is a rematch from the controversial decision which many believe Chimaev should've won. He is looking to making a statement tonight and not leave the decision to the judges. Both fighters look to use the ground game to their advantage. Round 1 was very close as two judges saw that as a 10-10 round. Chimaev went on to destroy Hornby in the 2nd and 3rd round. The fight was won by Khabib Chamev, by unanimous decision, thank god the judges didn't mess it up this time. Hornby looks upset that he didn't get the decision, but he should be glad that he wasn't finished earlier by Chimaev's submission attempts.

MATT HUGHES VS SCOTTY DEGUARDIO

Many believed that this should've been the main event of the evening. It should be a very interesting fight as Hughes as a tremendous ground game and DeGuardio has a punching chance to make this fight over. Hughes, smartly takes this fight to the ground. DeGuardio trying his best to make this a standup fight but Hughes keeps applying pressure. Hughes lands an elbow that the ref nearly called illegal, he's definitely thankful for that. Later on in round 1, Hughes gets in position and forces DeGuardio to tap from an armbar. Great BJJ shown by Hughes there!

DEMETRIUS CADMO VS TUT KAMAN

Next up is Cadmo vs Kaman. Both fighters are solid wrestlers, so this will probably be a bore fest for the casual MMA fans. And as I'm writing this, sure enough Cadmo takes down Kaman. Cadmo is looking for the submission but Kaman is doing a great job in not letting him get in position. Round 1 ends and fight fans in the arena give both fighters loud boos. I guess Cadmo heard the fans disappointment because he gets very aggressive in the beginning of round 2. Cadmo takes Kaman down and locks in a kimura lock in which Kaman taps ferociously. Holy moly, Cadmo did all that in 25 seconds of round number 2. Cadmo was very happy as he told his fans to follow him on Twitter.

CARCARAH CATARTES VS MARTINS VORANOVSKIS

Catartes is a major favorite in this fight and it would be shocking to see him lose this one. The fight begins and Catartes lands some good early shots to his opponent. Voranovskis looks unfazed and takes down Catartes. Oh no, this is not where Catartes wants to be right now. Voranovskis showing his improved ground game from his last fight here in round 1. Voranovskis grabs a hold of Catartes's arm and its tight and WOW Catartes has tapped. Its all over, what a shocking upset here for BLAZE fans. Voranovskis is ecstatic after his win while Catartes is very disappointed.

ELAY ARSON VS GAIDER NABIEV

Elay Arson is predicted, by many people, to win this tournament and become the first BLAZE 155lb champion. However, first he has to go through Gaider Nabiev. Nabiev is a massive underdog in this fight but is very confident in his skills. The fight begins and Arson is landing a good amount of elbows and kicks. This fight could be over in no time if Nabiev doesn't protect himself. Arson lands a beautiful elbow that lands cleanly on Nabiev's jaw. Nabiev is down and Arson lands a couple of more shots before the referee is forced to stop the fight. What a statement victory for Elay Arson.

RYAN WILLIAMS VS VITOR DONATO

Ryan Williams makes his entrance and has a cold demeanor, he isn't playing around here! The fight begins and Williams quickly takes down Donato. Vitor Donato looks overwhelmed on the ground, it certainly looks like he never fought here before. Williams is having his way here so far in the round, landing big shots after big shots. Doanto is getting SMASHED here in this round and many fans in the arena are pleading to the ref to stop the fight. Eventually, the ref stops the fight after 3 minutes of round number 1. Williams certainly made a statement after that fight, 23 ground strikes in total after 3 rounds!

DOBS BRECKIN VS VLADMIR ZHANNA

The co main event features Breckin who is nearly better at almost everything than Zhanna and is looking to advance to the next round of the tournament with ease. Zhanna, on the other hand, is very confident and is hoping he can pull off the upset. The begins and Breckin lands some good early punching. Zhanna is overwhelmed with all of the pressure coming from Breckin. Zhanna is constantly getting his face hammered and this could go be over quick! Zhanna is clearly trying to make this a ground game but Breckin is doing a good job defending the takedowns. Zhanna on wobbly legs getting beaten up badly now. Fans in the arena cheering for Zhanna's impeccable heart here. WOW, how much shots can a man take! Breckin finally lands a thunderous left hook which gets Zhanna down. After a couple of ground shots, the ref stops the fight. Zhanna went on social media right after the fight to say his hand broke a couple of days before the fight. Fans didn't buy his excuse and he is currently the biggest meme on the internet.

DARRION MCKEE VS FREDDY SALAMANCA

The highly anticipated main event is finally here. Darrion McKee is trying to prove that he is not "all hype" which many BLAZE fighters have claimed he is. His opponent, Freddy Salamanca is a huge underdog and would be a Columbian national hero if he somehow win this fight. McKee dominated all 3 rounds and won the fight by unanimous decision. He kept the fight on the ground and tried to make Salamanca tap but his opponent did a great job in not giving up the back. McKee was happy that he advanced to the next round of the tournament but was a bit disappointed in his performance. He promised that he will do better in his next fight.

This was a great event that the fans loved. Congrats to the fighters who will advance to the next round of the tournament and I can't thank all the fighters that were involved enough. Also, shoutout to our org sponsor, MKFC, for always hooking up everyone with fight gear. And lastly, thank you to our wonderful fans who are apart of #TEAMBLAZE!

BLAZE 6 - FLAMES PREVIEW

BLAZE MMA presents another 10 fight event in Hasashi's Lounge, St Petersburg sponsored by MKFC. There should be some exciting bouts showcasing the variety of talent we got here.

JON HILL (0-1) VS WILLY KIMBER (0-2) - 155lbs

Our first fight of the evening will be two fighters trying to get their first MMA win. Jon Hill, making his BLAZE debut, has a clear advantage in Mauy Thai and wrestling. Willy Kimber will need to shock everyone to possibly steal this one. Kimber is training alongside his twin brother Billy Kimber who has an MMA record of 6-0 and is dominating the 185 division. Maybe he can teach him some BJJ moves to get the shocking upset victory.

MIGHTY WARRIOR (1-1) VS AMBROOS DE VRIES (0-1) - 265+lb

This super heavyweight fight should be a fun one. Both fighters have an exceptional stand up game and we should expect a knockout in this one. Mighty Warrior lost his last fight in BLAZE 3 against Jack Rider and is making sure to train hard for this bout. Ambroos De Vries is looking to follow his family fighting tradition and he definitely needs a win in his record to be invited to future family dinners. Having brothers like Tjeeerd De Vries, Schuyler De Vries, Timo De Vries and being the son of the great Hans De Vries, there is an added pressure to win.

JORGE HERNAN RAMIREZ PENA (0-1) VS DWARVEN KING WAWHELMET (1-1) - 155lbs

Man I feel bad for the announcer whos going to say these fighters names. Anyways after both fighters were eliminated from the 155lb Tournament, a win for one of them will be massive as it will show that they belong with the top fighters in this division. Ramirez Pena will try to keep this fight standing up while King Warhelmet will try to fight on the ground where he has an advantage in.

SAEID GHOLIZADEH (1-0) VS IVAN DA BLOOD (0-1) - 265+lbs

After winning fight of the night in BLAZE 3, Gholizadeh will be looking to use his momentum against Da Blood. Gholizadeh has an advantage in boxing and wrestling while Da Blood is a better Muay Thai fighter.

LIK REN (0-1) VS HIROYUKI SHIMADA (0-1) - 155lbs

Both fighters are looking to add a win to their MMA records here. Ren has a tremendous right hand while Shimada will be looking to use his muay thai and wrestling advantage in this one.

DARKEN STORMY (0-1) VS MAGOMED MHIAOLOV (2-1) - 185lbs

The next fight features Stormy who is looking for his first MMA win and Mhialov who recently got his 2nd BLAZE win against Brad Incons. This should be an exciting bout as both fighters have knockout power.

BALDY BALDINGTON (1-0) VS TIMMER JONES (0-0) - 145lbs

Baldington is coming off a QFC submission victory while Jones is making his first MMA appearance. A lot of BLAZE fans don't know much about either fighters but I can guarantee you guys will love this one. Baldington is a great all around fighter and can do it all. Jones is looking to follow the footsteps of his brothers Jimmer, Sleepy, and Drippy.

STIPE MIOCIC (0-1) VS JACQUES GABRIEL (1-0) - 185lbs

Here we have two solid all around fighters that are looking to make an impact on this division. Miocic will definitely try to use his muay thai skills to his advantage while Gabriel will sure like to knock out Miocic after getting a decision victory in his last fight. Jacques Gabriel was nice enough to have an interview with a BLAZE reporter last night.

REPORTER What do you think of your opponent Stipe Miocic?

JACQUES GABRIEL : I think Stipe is a fine person but, I don't think he is cut out for MMA. I've already seen from his first fight that he isn't ready to be a top tier MMA fighter. This isn't a knock on him but, he should've taken his parent's advice and became a doctor. I can't wait to show him why he doesn't belong in an MMA cage.

REPORTER How have you prepared for this fight?

JACQUES GABRIEL I've made sure I'm fully energized and at full morale. I've prepped for his tactics with my manager. I know my strengths and my opponents weaknesses and I believe in my boxing skills. I have the knowledge and physical ability to win this fight.

REPORTER You were not ranked top five in your weight class in the latest weekly rankings. Where do you see yourself rank among 185lb fighters in BLAZE MMA?

JACQUES GABRIEL When I win my fight at BLAZE 6 with a powerful knock out punch then I think I deserve to be ranked in the top five. It's understandable why I'm ranked so low I haven't proven myself yet but, when I do I fully expect to be ranked and be considered one of the top threats of the division.

REPORTER Any last words?

JACQUES GABRIEL I want to thank BLAZE for giving me a contract, I want to thank Saklain Javid for offering me an interview and doing a great job running BLAZE. I want to thank MKFC for sponsoring BLAZE and many of their fighters. Most importantly I want to thank all my fans in Canada and Russia for cheering me on!

JACK RIDER (2-0) VS ILYA ALEXYEV (3-1) - 265lbs+

Our co-main event of the night will be a fun one. Top fighters from the super heavyweight division fighting to prove that they are worth contenders of the vacant super heavyweight championship. Both fighters with terrific boxing and muay thai skills, both fighter wont even touch the ground unless they get knocked out! Rider coming off a KO of the night victory is looking to stay undefeated and Alexyev is hoping to use the momentum from beating Trevor Love in his last fight and win big this fight.

ATTILA THE HUN (3-0) VS HASH BARE (0-0) - 265lbs+

And finally the main event features two super heavyweight fighters, one making his BLAZE debut and the other making his MMA debut. The Hun will be looking to use his experience and knockout power to get an inch closer to the belt. Bare is hoping to use his all around skill and athleticism to make this fight tough for The Hun.

Fight fans, this is what you all been waiting for! I hope all of the fans enjoy this card and I wish good luck to all of the fighters. BLAZE IT UP!

BLAZE 6 - FLAMES REVIEW

A fight packed event in Hasashi's Lounge, St Petersburg with may knockouts and submersion victories. As usual this event was sponsored by MKFC, here's how it went down!

JON HILL VS WILLY KIMBER

Jon Hill comes into the fight focused and and Kimber comes in calm. The fight begins and Hill takes Kimber to the ground. That was a huge mistake for Hill as Kimber quickly attempts a kimura lock in which Hill defends well. Kimber controlling the fight on the ground here, don't know why Hill went for the takedown. Kimber is still looking for a submission here and he gets it! A brutal armbar forces Hill to tap and Kimber to get his first MMA win.

MIGHTY WARRIOR VS AMBROOS DE VRIES

De Vries begins the fight with a clinch and lands a wicked uppercut. That shot gave Warrior a cut above the eye. Now, De Vries is landing a barrage of punches. Oh my, this may be over quick! De Vries is landing every shot at will and Mighty Warrior is not helping himself with his defense. We are now halfway through round 1 and Warrior is gassed at the moment. De Vries lands a beautiful right hook to the body that rocks Warrior! De Vries lands a thrilling uppercut and a couple more shots before the ref stops the fight!

JORGE HERNAN RAMIREZ PENA VS DWARVEN KING WARHELMET

An exciting 155lb bout begins with Ramirez Pena landing some good early leg kicks. A slow start here for King Warhelmet as he is getting tagged quite a bit here in the 1st round. The fight goes to the ground and Ramirez Pena is looking for a submission here. Nice position for Warhelmet to stop the submission attempt. Both fighters looking for submission here before the round comes to a close. Round 2 begins and Warhelmet shoots for a takedown. Both fighters on the ground for the entire round looking for submissions here. And that's it for round 2, not a lot of fans happy here with the action. Round 3 begins and with no surprise, the fight is on the ground. Ramirez Pena looking for a triangle choke here and he got it! Its tight and Warhelmet is forced to tap. What a win for Jorge Hernan Ramirez Pena!

SAEID GHOLIZADEH VS IVAN DA BLOOD

The fight begins and both fighters landing some clean shots here. Now it seems like Gholizadeh is controlling the fight here as he is landing some good shots with ease here. Uppercuts, hooks, body shots, you name it! This looks like Gholizadeh may get a knockout win very soon. And now, Gholizadeh lands a big uppercut which gets Da Blood to the ground. Couple more ground shots forces the ref to stop the fight! What a knockout victory for Saeid Gholizadeh.

LIK REN VS HIROYUKI SHIMADA

The fight begins and Shimada gets an easy takedown. He's controlling the ground really well here. Nice elbows and ground and pounds landing for Shimada. Not a lot of action there in round 1. Lets go to round number 2, where Shimada gets a takedown here. Ren doing a good job not allowing Shimada to get a submission attempt. Some good strikes for Shimada as he lands a couple of elbows to Ren's forehead. Shimada sees that Ren is hurt and is hitting him with some good shots and Ren can't defend so the ref is forced to stop this one! Shimada gets a loud cheer from the crowd for his TKO victory!

DARKEN STORMY VS MAGOMED MHIAOLOV

The bell rings and Mhiaolov clinches. Stormy breaks the clinch and lands a right hand. Mhiaolov takes Stormy down with a wild suplex! Wow, he really showed his strength there! He is now looking for a submission and works from the back and tightens a rear naked choke. This one is tight and over! What a win for Magomed Mhialov!

BALDY BALDINGTON VS TIMMER JONES

We are underway in this fight as Baldington fails a couple of takedown attempts early on. Jones doing a great job early on not allowing Baldington take him down and landing some good punches. It looks to me like Baldington didn't have a plan B in case his takedowns didn't work. Timmer Jones lands a couple more shots before the round comes to a close. Round 2 begins and Jones goes for the takedown! It seems like Baldington underestimated Jones wrestling because he is outclassing him here tonight. Baldington is looking for a submission but finds no luck. Final round begins and Baldington should look for a finish as he should be down on all cards right now. Jones dominated the entire round, landing big shot after big shot. Wow, it shoudl suprise everyone if Baldington can survive this round and he does. The final bell ring as we go to the decision. All 3 judges call for a 30:24 victory for Timmer Jones! What a dominating win for Jones as all 3 judges had him winning each round by 2 points.

STIPE MIOCIC VS JACQUES GABRIEL

This should be an interesting fight as Gabriel had a lot to say in his pre fight interview about Miocic. Gabriel showing his skill here as the fight begins, landing uppercuts and good jabs. Miocic is looking for the takedown but Gabriel doing a good job keeping this fight standing. Gabriel lands a vicious right hook which send Miocic to the ground. He lets Miocic get up and lands a terrifying left hook and some ground strikes before the ref stops this one! The crowd seemed to love that knockout from Jacques Gabriel.

JACK RIDER VS ILYA ALEXYEV

Our co-main event of the evening features two premier punchers in the super heavyweight division, this should be a fun one! Alexyev misses some punches early on. Now, Rider lands a head kick that stuns Alexyev! Alexyev looking to survive the round by clinching but Rider does a good job breaking the clinch and lands another clean heavy leg kick that knocks Alexyev out cold! What a statement win for Rider as he gets the 32 seconds knockout highlight reel!

ATTILA THE HUN VS HASH BARE
The main event of BLAZE 6 begins as both fighters make their entrance to the arena. Hash Bare quickly takes down The Hun and this should be interesting. We haven't really seen The Hun on the ground often in his previous fights. There isn't much action in the ground so the ref decides to let the fighters stand up and The Hun lands a beautiful uppercut which sends Bare to the ground. Bare is in real trouble here as The Hun is consistently landing big shots to the head. The Hun finally gets a big shot when he lands cleanly with a thrilling uppercut that sends Bare to the cage. A couple more shots and the ref finally steps in! The fight is over and what a victory to show that Attila The Hun is the real deal!

And that's it for another quality BLAZE event. I hope you all enjoyed that and remember to BLAZE IT UP!

BLAZE 7 - HARMS VS HOFFMAN PREVIEW

ANTONIO URBINA (2-2) VS SEAN O MALLEY (0-1) - 145lbs

A featherweight matchup between two fighters with completely different styles. Antonio Urbina has good wrestling and BJJ skills and will surely want this fight to be on the ground. Sean O Malley, on the other hand, has superior boxing and muay thai skills will want to make a statement in his BLAZE debut.

JUAN CARLOS (0-0) VS BEN HORNBY (0-2-1) - 155lbs

Juan Carlos making him MMA debut will be going against Ben Hornby who is looking for his first win after suffered devastating losses and decisions. Hornby has the boxing advantage while Carlos has the muay thai advantage. Both fighters are pretty even in their wrestling skills so this should be a fun one.

ERADIUS AQUILES (0-0) VS BRAD INCONS (0-2) - 185lbs

Eradius Aquiles making his debut fight against Incons who is still searching for his first MMA win. It would be a terrible start for Incons career if he loses against a debuting fighter. What we have been told by some of Aquiles's training partners in the Tycoon Gym is that he is the "real deal" We will have to see for ourselves come Thursday night.

DARIUS PERSEU (0-0) VS GWAFA HAZID (0-1) - 170lbs

Our next features two inexperienced welterweights looking to make a mark in BLAZE MMA. Perseu is known from his amuater career for his excellent wrestling skills. We are unaware of how he does standing up but we do know how good Hazid's muay thai skills are. So, expect this fight to be very interesting.

BROOKLYN SUTTON (0-0) vs SUTARJO SUKARMAN (0-1) - 170lbs

Another fight similar to some of the previous fights. Sutton making his MMA debut will be going against a hungry opponent in Sukarman looking for his first MMA win. Sutton likes to fight on the ground and use his wrestling skills and Sukarman is known to have good wrestling skills. This should be a bore fest for the casuals but an exciting bout for all the wrestling lovers.

SAWYER SEAN (1-2) VS TREVOR LOWE (1-1) - 185lbs

Talking about casuals, this should be an exciting one for all fans. Both fighters have ultimate KO power and each have 1 KO of the Night to their names. Sean has mastered the art of boxing while Lowe has incredible muay thai skills. Dont blink in this fight because this could be over quick!

DOWNTOWN MALONE (0-0) VS MACK LE GRAND (0-0) - 185lbs

Two fighters making their debut fight in the Hayashi's Lounge and this one should be fireworks! We have done our research on both fighters and we can tell you that Malone has good punching and kicking skills while Le Grand has an incredible arsenal of eight limbs. Expect this one to be over quick.

BEN ASKREN (3-0) VS DANIEL PALAKIKO (2-1) - 170lbs

The number 1 ranked welterweight Ben Askren will going up against the number 3 ranked welterweight Daniel Palakiko. Askren has dominant wrestling abilities while Palakiko has great punching power. Lots at stake here as both fighters will attempt to show their dominance in this division. We were fortune enough to catch up with both fighters for an interview.

Interview with Ben Askren

MEDIA What do you think of your opponent Daniel Palakiko?

BEN ASKREN   He's not too bad, but he's just a kid and he never prepared a training camp, he's too inexperienced to step to someone like me. It's gonna be his baddest nightmare. He just fought bums, with me it's gonna end really soon.

MEDIA How have you been able to stay undefeated throughout your career so far?

BEN ASKREN That is because I'm so versatile, of course I'm a wrestler and this is what I do best, but my striking is so much better than what it looks like, in fact I was able to score some punches on an excellent boxer as Steve Stone and to avoid most of his strikes. I'm from team " Altieri", I train with fighters like Taylor, Hughes, Nick Diaz, we do not joke, we're in this world to dominate!

MEDIA What is your strategy for this fight?

BEN ASKREN I'm gonna box a little bit and then use my superior wrestling and BJJ to destroy him in the first round, there's no way he's gonna come to the second

Interview with Daniel Palakiko

MEDIA  Ben recently said that you are "inexperienced" and "will destroy you in the first round". What do you make of these comments?

DANIEL PALAKIKO If I'm being honest, it doesn't make much sense, I have three fights, he also has three fights, makes me question the man's intelligence. As far as claims of destroying me in one round the only person he's finished in one round was a 1 and 5 bum to go along with the rest of his opponents with losing records.

MEDIA How has training been for you?

DANIEL PALAKIKO Training has been great, I've gotten a lot done and improved my game to beat Ben

MEDIA How does it feel that you are going to make your debut in BLAZE MMA?

DANIEL PALAKIKO :  I am super excited to come in to Blaze finally, I'm also so excited to give a can crusher like Ben his first loss.

DEAN WORISH (3-0) VS TAKASHI MURAKAMI (2-0) -185lbs

The co main event of BLAZE 7 features two undefeated middleweight fighters who are looking to become the next 185lb champion. Both fighters will be looking to use their ground game to their favor but one fighter will have to have their perfect record tarnished.

CHRIS HARMS (4-0) VS TROY HOFFMAN (1-2) - 185lbs

The main event of the evening is a middleweight fight with two superior athletes. Harms has a tremendous wrestling and grappling background and is looking to keep his MMA record perfect against a hard hitting fighter in Troy Hoffman. Hoffman also has solid wrestling abilities so this sight should be Harms' biggest test in his career.

There we have it folks, I am looking forward to these fights an I know you all are BLAZE fans. Once again, shoutout to MKFC for sponsoring us and hooking us up with some fresh gear. Good luck to all of the fighters and remember to BLAZE IT UP! #TEAMBLAZE.

BLAZE 8 PREVIEW

Hello MMA fans and welcome to the preview of BLAZE 8 sponsored by MKFC. I’m Alexei Smirnov here to give you the preview and some predictions of my own. Fans in St Petersburg are in for a good one tonight as in the main event we have two undefeated young stars looking to prove themselves.

MICHAEL "THE MAGIC" SCOTT (1-1) VS BAO LONG "DODO" DONAIRE (1-2) - 145lbs

For the opening contest of tonight we have Micheal “The Magic” Scott (1-1-0) taking on Bao Long “Dodo” Donaire (1-2-0). A win for either of these men could be huge for their careers. We’ve really seen that Scott loves taking his opponents to the ground, getting his only win by submission. Donaire is the opposite with preferring stand up, yet still having no KOs in his career. Overall both men could be contenders in their divisions and this fight could be the turning point for both of them.

My pick: Scott Via Submission (RNC)

Scott has just shown that he can finish opponents and pick up sub victories and Bao Long’s only win is by decision. I think as long as Scott can bring him to the ground he has an easy win.

WALTER CREN (4-2) VS KUBA "E2" DOG (0-2) - 185lbs

Our next fight is Walter Cren (4-2-0) taking on Kuba “E2” Dog (0-2-0). Kuba will be trying to pick up his first ever MMA victory while Cren is trying to improve his record and show why he deserves to be ranked. This is going to be a stand up fight as both fighters prefer that and Cren has won all of his fights via KO. Cren and Kuba are both coming off loses so this could be a great chance for either one of them to pick up momentum. This fight might as well be a boxing match and I suspect they are just going to be throwing punches at each other.

My pick: Cren Via KO (Punches)

Cren has shown that he has the power to pick up knock outs and I don’t think this will be any different. This is a clear mismatch and Cren needs to show why he should be facing better opponents. As for Kuba, I don’t think he’s a bad fighter; he just has some improvement to do. This should be a fun match for anyone who enjoys striking.

DAVE "COOL DUDE" KOOL (0-1) VS CHANDRA "GILGAMESH" RAJNAHN (1-2) - 265lbs+

Up next we have Dave “Cool Dude” Kool (0-1-0) taking on Chandra “Gilgamesh” Rajnahn (1-2-0). Kool will be looking to pick up his first win while Rajnahn is looking for a win to add to his resume. This looks like it could definitely be a close one and a good fight too. Both of these guys are young and hungry, a win would be huge for either fighter. Kool is an obvious ground fighter and has a purple belt whilst Rajnahn is a solid all around fighter. For this fight Rajnahn will definitely want to stay standing as Kool is useless unless he is on the ground.

My pick: Rajnahn Via TKO (Strikes)

Rajnahn doesn’t have the greatest KO power but, we’ve already seen him pick up a TKO victory and Kool does not have the greatest chin. This was honestly a hard one for me to choose as I think it’ll be a pretty close fight but, we’ve seen Rajnahn win and we haven’t seen Kool win just yet. Overall looking like a good fight.

ALCIDES "THE STRONGEST" HERALCES (0-0) VS "THE UNSCRIPTED FIGHTER" PETER STARLINE (1-1) - 265lbs+

Next we see Alcides "The Strongest" Heracles (0-0-0) making his pro debut against "The Unscripted Fighter" Peter Starline (1-1-0). Heracles will be wanting to start off his career with a bang and Starline is looking to have a winning record. Both of these fighters prefer standup and I think it’ll be a very entertaining fight. This is probably the most even fight on the card up to this point. Starline lost his last match by cut which has got to feel bad, he’ll be fired up to win this one. We haven’t seen anything for Heracles but, he could be a good talent moving forward. It’s going to be an even stand up fight, which is my favorite kind of fight.

My pick: Starline Via Unanimous Decision

I was very torn on who was going to win this one but, I have to give it to Starline based on his granite chin. I just don’t think Heracles will pick up a KO but, he’s free to prove me wrong. This one could go either way so that’s why I think decision is appropriate. Really excited to see how this one plays out.

ICHIGO KUROSAKI "SUBSTITUTE SHINIGAMI" (5-0) VS DILLON "MAC TRUCK" TUCKER (0-0) - 205lbs

Next we have a 205lb fight. It’s Ichigo Kurosaki "Substitute Shinigami" (5-0-0) versus Dillon "Mac Truck" Tucker (0-0-0). Kurosaki will be looking to extend his winning streak and Truck will be looking for a win in his debut. Kurosaki has built up an impressive set of wins but this will be his first fight for the org. Kurosaki will be looking to stay standing while Tucker's best chances are to go to the ground. There really isn’t much to say, this is the equivalent of a WWE squash match. Kurosaki has looked very strong and is one of the best fighters in the org and has a very bright future in BLAZE. We have yet to see anything from Tucker but, we’ll see if he can prove my doubts wrong.

My pick: Kurosaki Via KO (Punch)

This one is an obvious pick to me, Kurosaki has so much momentum and has so much power in fists there is no way this one goes past one round. I would be terrified to be in the same cage as Kurosaki. Putting Tucker in his debut match against this beast is cruel. Kurosaki with a win here would cement himself as the best in the 205 division.

"COLDSTONE" KNUTER BERG (1-0) VS MAGOMED MHIAOLOV (3-1) - 185lbs

For this next fight we have "ColdStone" Knutur Berg (1-0-0) taking on Magomed Mhiaolov (3-1-0). Berg will be making his debut in BLAZE and a win here would be huge for him, on the other hand Mhiaolov looks to maintain his solid record and add another win to it. This fight is a wildcard, I wouldn't be surprised if it stayed standing or if it went to the ground. Both of these fighters are jack of all trades and pretty evenly matched. I’ll be excited to see how this fight plays out. Mhiaolov has some impressive wins but none that really knock my socks off. Whoever wins here will impress me and will most likely go on to do good things.

My pick: Berg Via Unanimous Decision

Berg has yet to prove himself in BLAZE so this is more of a risky pick but, I think he has a good chance to win this. I think it’ll be an even fight throughout but, morale issues could be big for Mhiaolov and I think Berg can capitalize. This isn’t a fight to miss out on!

KING MILLEER "GONZA" GONZALES (2-1) VS ALLEN "THE BEAR" MACK (1-0) - 145lbs

This next fight is between two youngsters who haven’t fought in BLAZE yet. We have King Milleer "Gonza" (2-1-0) Gonzales against Allen "The Bear" Mack (1-0-0). These two fighters are very similar when it comes to their skill sets although Mack is a year older than Gonzales. Both of these fighters have shown they can pick up close wins but, picking up a BLAZE win will be important for either of these fighters. Gonzales and Mack have both got all their wins via submission so I wouldn’t be surprised if this was a ground fight. Gonzales morale will play a big role in this fight and could be the difference maker.

My pick: Mack Via Unanimous Decision

I really wanted to make this a submission victory but with both fighters being equally matched on the ground I don’t see this being the case. I think the year difference and morale will be the reason Mack gets the win. He’s a young kid and has a bright future in BLAZE ahead of him. If you’re not a fan of the ground game this fight isn’t for you.

ADAM BOGO (2-1) VS TIM DOUGLAS (0-2) - 145lbs

We’re now nearing the end of this event. Next up we have Adam Bogo (2-1-0) taking on Tim Douglas (0-2-0). Bogo will be looking to take this fight to the ground and Douglas would want to keep this one standing. Bogo is riding momentum from his last win into this fight, he won that fight by decision. Douglas is pretty useless on the ground but he seems to out skill Bogo when it comes to stand up. The main question is will Douglas be able to keep the fight standing. Douglas still hasn’t claimed this first MMA victory, will he be able to pull off the victory, let’s find out.

My pick: Bogo Via Unanimous Decision

I predict this fight to be closer than it seems at first. I still think Bogo will win this fight but, he’s got to not underestimate his opponent. If this fight goes to the ground and stays on the ground Bogo has a good chance to win on the other hand if Douglas can defend the takedowns well he still has a shot. This looks like a clash of different fight styles and it’ll be a good one to watch.

VICTOR VIDEN (3-1) VS BILLY KIMBER (6-0) - 185lbs

Next we have our co-main event! It’s Victor Viden (3-1-0) taking on Billy Kimber (6-0-0). Video is coming off the first loss of his career and Kimber is a huge winning streak. Kimber has all the momentum heading into this co-main event. Both of these fighters love being on the ground, getting most of their victories via submission. Kimber has some impressive wins over Meccini and Mhiaolov in his first two fights in BLAZE but this will be his biggest challenge yet. Viden isn’t one you should underestimate in this fight and has shown he can finish fights and win by Submission or TKO. Whoever gets a hold on their opponent first has a good chance of finishing it quickly. This will be a great fight for all the BJJ fans out there.

My pick: Kimber Via Submission (Armbar)

Whilst Kimber and Viden are both very skilled on the ground, Viden is just simply outmatched by Kimber. Kimber is the better BJJ fighter and I think that’ll be why he can pick up the win. I wouldn’t count Viden out and this is MMA and anything can happen. Kimber has finished all of his fights with a submission hold and I don’t think this will be any different. Overall a great Co-main event and one I look forward to watching.

FRED "BELLY BUSTER" OTTOMAN (2-0) VS TIMO DE VRIES (2-0) -265lbs+

Finally what you all have been waiting for the main event of the evening. Fred “Belly Buster” Ottoman (2-0-0) will be taking on Timo De Vries (2-0-0). This is a very even main event with both fighters holding the same record and this is looking like a really good fight. Ottoman will want to keep this one standing as he is outmatched on the ground. De Vries will be fishing for takedowns and he is a very talented ground fighter and he will be looking for another submission victory. Ottoman has two very impressive KO wins in BLAZE so far and De Vries already has two submission wins. Whoever wins this fight could be a contender for the 265+ title and could fight either The Hun or Rider. This will be the clash of the titans as these two monsters among men duke it out in the main event. The 265+ division has some of the most talented fighters in BLAZE and this is a great showcase of that. Both of these men have a clear way of winning and it’s between who will get the KO or the submission.

My pick: De Vries Via Submission (Triangle)

I have De Vries picking up the close win as I think as soon he takes Ottoman to the ground, the fight is over. De Vries is a very skilled BJJ fighter and could be one of the top fighters in his division if he gets the win here. As for Ottoman, I think he’s a great talent and he’ll make it hard for De Vries to get the win here as he has insane power in his fists. This is a main event I am very excited to watch and either man really could win.

Predicted KO of the night: Ichigo Kurosaki

Predicted Sub of the night: Billy Kimber

Predicted fight of the night: Fred Ottoman v Timo De Vries

Overall I am very excited for many of the fights on this card. There is a good mix of ground and stand up, many of the fights are quite even. This show will have a last impact in the standings and I wouldn’t be shocked if we saw more than one upset tonight. Fans in St Petersburg better be ready for a wild show and you should buy a ticket while you can. I’m Alexei Smirnov and I want to thank BLAZE for giving me the opportunity to write this preview. You all have a wonderful day.

BLAZE 8 Review

Hello everyone, I’m Alexei Smirov here to give you your review for BLAZE 8! The fans packed the Hayashi’s Lounge for this one. This event was also sponsored by MKFC!

Bao Long Donaire vs Micheal Scott

For the opening fight we had two featherweight fighters. Donaire looks for some clinches early in the first round and uses them to batter Scott with punches. When Scott breaks free of the clinch he immediately looks for the takedown and after he gets it he goes to work. Strangely Scott decides to stand up after little time spent on the ground. This gives Donaire the opportunity to clinch again. This whole first round is just clinches from Donaire and takedowns from Scott. Donaire destroyed that first round and Scott already looks beat up. Second round is more of the same with Donaire getting multiple clinches and using that to beat down Scott. Scott gets another takedown but again decides to stand up. Donaire spends the rest of the ground clinching and punching Scott. Donaire wins the second easily too. I’m starting to feel bad for Scott as again he gets caught in the clinch, he looks just absolutely wrecked. Donaire wins the fight by decision but he dominated throughout the whole fight. Afterwards Scott gets on the mic and blames a guy named Dwight for his loss.

Walter Cren vs Kuba Dog

The fight starts off and Cren immediately clocks Dog right in the face. Dog looks angry and maybe he’ll have a chance to fight back. Then Cren hits a nasty uppercut and another jab, Dog is busted wide open with a cut. Cren continues to throw punches at Dog and most land. The crowd seems to be enjoying this one. Dog tries a takedown but Cren defends it well. A few  more big shots and an uppercut and it’s all over. Cren takes the win via KO. This was a finish most could see coming and a great job by Cren to overwhelm Dog and show him who’s boss. Cren could be a contender in the future.

Dave Kool vs Chandra Rajnahn

First thing that happens in this fight is that Rajnahn gets an early clinch. Which Kool breaks and then Kool gets clinched again. Kool looking for a takedown but doesn't get it. Rajnahan gets Kool against the cage and begins softening him up. Now Rajnahn decides to take the fight to the ground scoring a takedown. When he gets to the ground Rajnahn starts the ground and pound. He throws some nasty strikes and a big elbow, Kool looks rocked. Rajnahn starts to hammerfist and Kool is out cold. Rajnahn just beat the crap out of him and finished it in style. Afterwards Rajnahn climbs the cage in celebration, what a character. After that fight Rajnahn has got to be one of my favorites in the org that was very entertaining. The crowd loves Rajnahn.

Alcides Heracles vs Peter Starline

This is certainly an interesting fight between these two fighters. The first two rounds can be summarized in one word, clinch. Starline does nothing but clinch Heracles, Heracles breaks it and then Starline clinches again. This goes on for a while and each fighter gets a punch or two in there. Then in the third Starline realizes that his game plan isn’t working and trying to box Heracles. This is a big mistake and Starline gets punched in the many times after this. It was an easy decision as the judges chose Heracles as the winner. Heracles has shown his boxing skills and I’m excited to see what he can do in the future.

 Ichigo Kurosak vs Dillon Tucker

This really isn’t much to say about a 17 second fight. Honestly it lasted too long for how good Kurosak is. Tucker looks like he hasn’t slept in days, he looks like an absolute mess. A few punches from Kurosak and it’s all over, I almost feel bad for Tucker. Kurosak is a very good fighter and he is one of the best in the org, he shouldn’t be facing people like Tucker and this fight shows that. Mark my words Kurosak is a future champ and as for Tucker, he needs some sleep.

Knutur Berg vs Magomed Mhiaolo

Now this was a pure ground fight, with both of these fighters being pure wrestlers. The first part of round one is just the two fighters trying to clinch and take each other down. It’s Berg who manages to get the takedown first and gains control. This is the part where Burg tries nine freaking submissions in a row, it’s just a few minutes of Berg working the arm of Mhiaolo. Impressive work for Berg but, a snoozefest of a fight. Berg finally gets Mhialolo to tap and picks up the win by sub. Berg has a big future in BLAZE and is a very good wrestler, let’s just hope he can put on more exciting fights next time.

King Milleer Gonzales vs Allen Mack

Now we have a feather fight between two young fighters. What a takedown from Gonzales a few seconds into the fight and an even better escape from Mack who is back on his feet. Gonzales then gets a clinch which Mack then breaks again. A really back and forth beginning. We get a minute or two of strike exchanges with Mack throwing most of the punches. Mack then gets a takedown and the two fighters stay on the ground before standing up again. Not too much has happened so far. Mack gets another takedown and he doesn’t want this fight to last much longer and he locks a Kimura on for the win. Really impressive showing from these too and Mack impressed me especially. Big win for Mack and a nice submission.

Adam Bogo vs Tim Douglas

Despite how long this fight went on, there isn’t too much to talk about. Bogo gets a takedown a few seconds in, which seems to be a trend on this card. He then proceeds to try and finish Douglas early with a few submission attempts until the round ends. Round 2 Bogo decides to clinch instead and pushes Douglas against the cage and slowly wears him down. Then Bogo takes Douglas to the mat again where he again tries to finish the fight with a sub. Douglas gets up and then gets back down again, then the round ends. Bogo does the same strategy in the 3rd, getting a takedown and then finally gets a sub and wins the fight. This fight was just Bogo wearing down Douglas and I’ll give Douglas credit, he has heart. Impressive win for Bogo here and let’s see what he can do in the future.

 Victor Viden vs Billy Kimber

Now onto our co-main event for the evening. This is very much a fight spent almost entirely around on the ground. Kimber gets the first takedown and wears Viden down with some sub attempts until the ref decides to stand both them up. Viden uses that to get the clinch, then a take down from Kimber again and the round ends. Now time for round 2 which is a lot easier to talk about because it’s Kimber getting the takedown and wearing down Viden even more with sub holds for a whole round. The final round is similar with it starting off with both fighters trying to get the takedown. Finally Viden gets a big takedown but Kimber reverses it getting control. The round ends and the judges get it to Kimber which I agree with. A good win for Kimber keeping up his huge momentum and another ground fight on this card.

Main Event: Fred Ottoman vs Timo De Vries

Now, it’s time for the fight you’ve all been waiting for. It's the main and oh boy is it a good one. This fight starts off with an exchange of jabs and punches from these two. Ottoman starts getting hits in and starts taunting his opponent telling him he’s gonna knock him out. We continued the exchange with De Vries getting a lot of hits in and not many misses. It’s looking good for De Vries when all of a sudden he gets his lights knocked out. It’s an insane KO by Ottoman after getting dominated for most of the fight. It’s clear that Ottoman has crazy power in his fists and he doesn’t care about how good your chin is. What a flying punch to end the fight. De Vries really showed his skill in the fight but it was no match for Ottoman’s crazy power. A very entertaining fight and one that deserved a main event spot. I could easily see Ottoman being a future champion.

KO of the night:

Ichigo Kurosaki

Sub of the night:

Allen Mack

Fight of the night:

Fred Ottoman vs Timo De Vries

Overall a great card with a mix of ground and stand up fighting. I really enjoyed the event and some fights definitely surprised me. That main event was an amazing fight and I really enjoyed it. The fans in St. Petersburg probably loved this one. I’m Alexei Smirov and this was your review of BLAZE 8!

BLAZE 155lb TOURNAMENT - ROUND 3 PREVIEW

1608666538BLAZE%20155%20(2).jpg

We are almost coming to the end of this 155lb Tournament which has been amazing so far. 8 fighters will be looking to make a name for themselves in the Hasashi's Lounge this Thursday. Some will fall short of their goal and be sent home while others will be ecstatic and move on another step to becoming the first ever BLAZE 155lb Champion!

MATT HUGHES (4-1) VS KHABIB CHIMAEV (1-0-1)

Our first fight of the evening features two fighters who both have something to prove. Matt Hughes is coming off an amazing Round 1 submission victory against Scotty DeGuardio while Chimaev is coming off a decision victory against Ben Hornby. Knowing how quickly Hughes can finish a fight on the ground may make Chimaev more reluctant to take Hughes down. While Chimaev has a slight edge over Hughes in boxing and muay thai, it is not enought to take Hughes out. We were fortune enough to catch up with Matt Hughes before this fight. Heres what he had to say:

MEDIA: You are known for your superior wrestling and BJJ skills, what makes you so good on the ground?

MATT HUGHES : The reason why I'm so good on the ground is that I train hard, every day, with high level grapplers. I've been rollin' on the mat since I was a kid, I don't care about working from the bottom or the top, I am both good at pounding my opponent or just submit him.

MEDIA : How do you feel about your opponent Khabib Chimaev?

MATT HUGHES : I'm so confident about my skills, I will destroy this kid, he isn't fit for this sport, he's too skinny and tall, he should have played basketball or volleyball, I'm gonna crank his arm for sure, he better tap out otherwise he will get his elbow screwed.

MEDIA :  Have you prepared any differently for this fight than any other?

MATT HUGHES : Well, I did some boxing sparring with good athletes, my striking is improving day by day, I feel like I'm getting better from fight to fight, this ain't a game and I'm not playing at all. Looks like I'll have to humble Mcklown after I'll beat this 18 years old kid

DARRION MCKEE (2-0) VS MARTINS VORANOVSKIS (2-0)

Two undefeated submissions masters will face off in this elimination tournament. Darrion McKee has the significant advantage over Martins in wrestling while Martins has a slight boxing and muay thai advantage. Expect this fight to be on the ground, however, as that is both fighters sweet spot. McKee will be looking to shutting up the rest of the division with a statement win while Martins will be looking to shock everyone and be closer to his ultimate goal.

RYAN WILLIAMS (2-0) VS DEMETRIUS CADMO (1-0)

The co-main event of this short card features two exceptional wrestlers looking to make a mark in the cage. You can bet your money that this fight will be on the ground for the most part. Williams with both of his wins coming from (T)KOs has a tremendous ground and pound aspect to his game while Cadmo has his win coming from submission. So, very similar styles for both fighters, however, very different as well. Should be a fun one!

ELAY ARSON (2-0) VS DOBS BRECKIN (2-1)

And finally the main event that you all been waiting for. While many of the fights on this card were grapplers and wrestlers, this fight feature two excellent fighters that know how to let their hands go. Breckin has the boxing advantage and an insane knockout power while Arson has better muay thai and wrestling skills than Breckin. This will be both fighters biggest test in their career and will really show which one of them is the real deal.

Im very excited for these fights and I know you all are, BLAZE fans! Huge thank you to MKFC for always sponsoring our events with fire merch. Good luck to all the fighters fighting and hope you all BLAZE IT UP in that ring!

BLAZE 155lb TOURNAMENT - ROUND 3 REVIEW

MATT HUGHES VS KHABIB CHIMAEV

The first fight of this tournament is underway and lets see how this goes. The fight begins with both fighters fighting on their feet. Lots of missed shots here early and Hughes gets an easy takedown which frustrates Chimaev. Hughes has the advantage on the ground and is showing it here in Round 1. Hughes is looking for submission opportunities but Chimaev is defending well so far. Oh well, I spoke too soon as Hughes tightens up a strong arm triangle and Chimaev is knocked out unconsciously. Wow, that was quick! In the post-fight interview, Matt Hughes calls out fellow 155er Darrion McKee who is fighting next.

DARRION MCKEE VS MARTINS VORANOVSKIS

You have to figure McKee has to put on a good performance here after the Hughes callout. The fight begins and they both go to the ground. McKee controlling the pace here, early on. Not a lot of action on the ground, though, and the referee decides to stand both fighters up. However, McKee takes Martins down and is looking for the kimura lock. Martins did a good job there preventing McKee from getting a hold on his arm. McKee still looking for a submission but that goes the round. Round 2 begins and McKee takes Martins down and is keeping control. Oh no, Martins give his back away and McKee submits Martins with a rear naked choke. McKee didn't respond to Hughes at the end of the fight and instead thanked his fans and supporters.

DEMETRIUS CADMO VS RYAN WILLIAMS

Two submission victories already and we have another fight with two superior BJJ fighters. The bell rings and Cadmo goes for the takedown. Williams was expecting a slow start for Cadmo but Cadmo is doing a good job controlling his position. Williams trying his best to defend against a possible submission but Cadmo is too good and eventually gets a kimura lock locked in and Williams is forced to tap! What a win for the "King of Thebes!"

ELAY ARSON VS DOBS BRECKIN

And finally the main event of the evening with two superstars. I personally don't want to send either of these top level gladiators home but one of them will be packing. The fight begins and Arson lands a thunderous head kick which drops Breckin. My goodness, what a shot! Arson now controlling the ground here as Breckin is cut. Arson very aggressive here, early on. He wants this to be over quick, looking for submission attempts at every moment he gets. But, Breckin is doing a good job in defending the submissions and the round is over. Round 2 begins and this round had both fighters standing throwing everything they got. Arson showing his versatility in this round proving he's not just a wrestler. Landing big punches and elbows this whole round. The final round starts and Arson is going to work here, finishing what he started in Round 1 and 2. Just landing anything he wants, punches, knees, elbows. The round ends and Arson wins big on the cards. Only thing you could say good about Dobs Breckin tonight was that he didn't get knocked out.

Well, thats all folks! Congrats on the winners and better luck next time for those fighters that lost tonight. Thank you to MKFC for sponsoring this wonderful event and I'm looking forward to seeing the final 4 fighters competing in the next round. The next round is rumored to be apart of BLAZE 12 on 1-28-21 but nothing confirmed yet. BLAZE IT UP! #TEAMBLAZE

INTERVIEW FOR CRANJIS MCBASKETBALL

Mixed Martial Arts Fighter - Cranjis Mcbasketball

MEDIA :  Hey, I know you are busy training for your upcoming fight against Fred Powers tomorrow but I hope you got some time to do this interview! Are you worried at all by Fred Powers's remarkable wrestling and BJJ skills?
CRANJIS MCBASKETBALL Am I worried... HECK YEAH!! but its what I signed up for you know its my job and I won't back down from a fight.
MEDIA : How have you been training for this fight?
CRANJIS MCBASKETBALL : I have not been training much but lets see how this goes.

MEDIA: This is your first time at 170lbs in BLAZE MMA, what made you change your weight class from 185 to 170?

CRANJIS MCBASKETBALL  Well if you'll look back at my last fights at 185, I wasn't gonna go anywhere there not to many fair fights for myself at 185 weight class. 170 seems more realistic.

BLAZE 9 - THE HUN VS RIDER REVIEW

1609023465BLAZE 9.jpg (240×290)

WILLIAM THOMPSON IV VS NEWTON DIAZ

The first fight of this card features Thompson who is a fierce striker and Diaz with excellent BJJ skills. Diaz instantly goes to the clinch as the fight begins and lands a beautiful takedown. With both fighters on the ground, Diaz lands some good ground and pound strikes to Thompson. Diaz also doing a good job in not allowing Thompson to get back on his feet, something he is skilled in. It looks to me like Diaz got a hold of his opponents arm and Thompson frantically taps out from a tight kimura lock! What a way to start this event!

FRED POWERS VS CRANJIS MCBASKETBALL

Cranjis Mcbasketball didn't seem to confident in his interview yesterday so let's see how this fight goes. Powers, fighting to his advantage, wrestles Mcbasketball down. Both fighters looking for submission opportunities here in this early showing. However, Powers now looking for a kimura lock and he...... GOT IT! Mcbasketball taps out and Powers wins by submission in the 1st round.

WILLY KIMBER VS HIROYUKI SHIMADA

With our first two fights ending in submission, here we got another fight with two good BJJ fighters hungry for a win. Both fighters stand up in the beginning of the fight, trading shots. After realizing that it is not working, Kimber takesdown Shimada even though Shimada defended it well for a second. Kimber looking real composed on the ground, is landing some big strikes to his opponent. Shimada getting tired here and Kimber sees this and takes advantage by grabbing his arm and locking in a kimuara lock. Shimada has nothing to do but tap and Kimber is vicotorius again. WOW, all 3 fights so far have been won by a kimura lock submission.

HARVE SPALDING VS JESPER LIGHT

The fight begins and not a lot of action so far. Both fighters testing their opponents in this early round. Spalding was able to land a few shots at the end of round 1. The bell rings for round 2 and Spalding decides to clinch. However, Light is now controlling the clinch and it is Spalding now looking to escape. Light is looking a bit sloppy here with his striking, missing a bunch of punches so far. Spalding landing shots with ease here in the clinch. Spalding, eventually gets out of the clinch and lands some good strikes which hurts Light. The final bell rings for round number 3 and Spalding is continuing his domination, hitting Light with all he got. The fight is over and Spalding wins by unanimous decision.

THE GIANT VS AMBROOS DE VRIES

Two heavy-hitters going at it here in this fight, this is almost guaranteed a knockout. A couple of missed shots here early and De Vries clinches and puts The Giant in a vulnerable position against the cage. De Vries lands a couple of big shots and The Giant has been cut. A couple more powerful body shots and uppercut lands for De Vries. While in the clinch, The Giant lands a clean elbow to De Vries's head which cuts him wide open. That could be a huge momentum shift for The Giant! However, that was not the case as De Vries continued to land big strikes over and over again. The bell rings which signals to the fighters that round 1 is over, man The Giant must be happy. In round 2, De Vries continued where he left off, landing body shots, leg kicks, head strikes, and etc. Nothing going for The Giant here except that the round is over and he has survived to see the next round. However, in the last and final round, De Vries upped the tempo and landed huge strikes to the head and The Giant eventually goes down and De Vries finishes him off! A huge applause from the audience for a remarkable performance by Ambroos De Vries.

MARC MURAT VS SAEID GHOLIZADEH

This one will be two undefeated fighters with knockout power looking to make a name for themselves in their division. Gholizadeh doing a good job here counter punching some of the missed shots by Murat. Gholizadeh controlling the fight right now, landing big body punches and head strikes. Murat looking for the takedown but can't seem to find the openings while Gholizadeh is tearing him apart. Murat barely survives the round there and here comes round number two. With Gholizadeh's momentum from the 1st round, he continues dominating Murat with crisp body shots. Murat is gassed and Gholizadeh stops him with a big right hand! The fight is over and Saeid Gholizadeh is declared victorious!

JACOB WHITE VS MANNYYY PACQUIAOOO

Both fighters making their BLAZE debut here, lets see how this goes. White landing some good early shots here...AND BOOM, White lands a massive head kick and Pacquiaooo goes down. White lets Pacquiaooo get up and both fighters trade jabs. White hits Pacquiaooo with more body and head strikes. He lands one more head kick which puts Pacquiaooo down and a couple of more shots which forces the referee to step in and stop this fight! What a win for Jacob White!

RIO DE JANEIRO VS MARCUS MATTHISON

The fight begins and Matthison is instantly the aggressor here, early on as he takes De Janeiro down. But, that could've been his biggest mistake as De Janeiro is very experienced on the ground and is looking for a submission here but no luck. Matthison is also looking for a submission but De Janeiro defends it well. De Janeiro is now in dominant position and locks in a kimura lock in which Matthisson is forced to tap. Rio De Janeiro showed that he is on a different class in the 145lb division!

HENRY KEATY VS RUSSEL TARIC

Onto the co-main event as both fighters get a loud pop from their entrances. Keaty takes Taric down and is looking for a submission here. Taric is doing a good job defending it but Keaty is just too good as he forces his opponent to tap with an armbar!

ATTILA THE HUN VS JACK RIDER - 265+ CHAMPIONSHIP

The main event of today's event has a lot at stake. Both fighters are undefeated and one will become the first ever BLAZE champion! Rider is working the body here early on which gets The Hun tired. Rider notices that his opponent is fatigue and lands a big right hand which sends The Hun to the canvas! He is able to get back up but not until Rider knocks him out cold with a head kick! Your new super heavyweight champion and first ever BLAZE champion, Jack Rider!!!

This was an historic event for BLAZE MMA and I want to thank all of you for being apart of this. Also, a huge shout out to MKFC for sponsoring our events. And, finally, keep on working and BLAZE IT UP!
