    • Sucker Punch Pro Series October 5th - Sydney, Australia On behalf of both Donkey and myself, Hare, I’d like to welcome all our Sucker Punch fanatics to the… Resurrection 07 Event Preview!!! …once again, at the very intimate, 3,000 seat strong… And of course, don’t forget, once again Sucker Punch Pro Series is partnered with Shadow Warrior Nutrition, for all your supplement needs to ensure your fighters are getting the absolute max out of their training efforts! Tonight, we’re going to focus solely on the Main Card in the preview for Resurrection 07 here at SPPS and then bring you a post-even Cheap Shots where we run through the Undercard happenings. Along with any exciting action from the Main Card based upon what we might have expected versus what happened!  As always, I’ve got my partner in crime with me this evening, Donkey “Dan”, and you all should already know that I’m Hare Rumpler, that head wabbit round these parts!  Our Main Card tonight has a little bit of everything, minus a title fight.  No belts on the line this evening, but we do have two Featherweight battles, a Welterweight matchup, Middleweight showdown and of course we have to get SOME beef in there, so we’ve got Light Heavyweights Scotty T Bone and Ricardo Cruz coming at you in the second fight of the Main Card. So without any more delay, let’s jump right into it! *********************** Main Card Bout #1: Featherweights Tommy Chang (6-6-0) v Carl Crap (4-10-2) Our first fight of the Main Card, and Donkey will already not be pleased!  Chang steps into the cage this evening with his energy at about the 50% level…sure, he may recover some of it before fight time, if he rests, but the chances of being much better off are slim.  Crap, on the other hand, is anything but when it comes to preparation, as he’s fully set and ready to get at it!  Both fighters are about square in most primary areas, so we’ll be looking elsewhere to pick a winner here most likely, but I’ll leave that to the Donkey Boy. After back to back Draws with Gouda Cheese, we felt it was only right to allow both Crap and Cheese to move on from each other…for now.  Crap will want this fight to end in something other than a loss or a draw, as he had three losses under prior manager, David Septim, over at RSE before switching teams to land with Gheeze Andreas.  He continued that losing streak for another four fights at RSE before he and his team decided that a change of scenery was definitely in order.  So, while two draws with Cheese may seem like a disappointment, it has to be better than an eighth loss!  Crap did try to work the ground game in his last battle with Cheese, getting to the ground in each round and working for GnP down there, but on FIFTY-FIVE strike attempts only managed to land two…wow.  He’ll need to improve that or snag a sneaky submission if he wants to have success on the ground this evening, assuming he tries to go there again. Chang came into SPPS and snagged a second round victory over Hammerstein back in August but then fell via decision to Soest in September.  No shame in that considering Soest is going for the belt now.  But certainly fuel for the fire to want him to grab another win to move to 2-1 with us. I’m not sure that coming into the fight at only half energy is the right move for that goal, but hey, who am I to judge?!?  Oh, yeah, I’m the guy in charge, I’m just the guy to judge!!!  His manager, Blade Hunter, has been MIA for the past two days, so that may be contributing to the lack of planning and preparation.  Alright Donkey, give it to us… Donkey’s Pick: Chang via TKO (Strikes) This pick will probably catch you by surprise, Hare, as you know I usually pick against the unprepared fighter.  And if this fight drags out into the late second round, I suspect my pick is going to be very wrong.  But, on the off-chance that Chang can end this quickly, he does have KO ability and has had more success on the ground and feet than Crap, so I’m going to take a chance here with this pick. *********************** Main Card Bout #2: Light Heavyweights Scotty T Bone (11-3-0) v Ricardo Cruz (6-9-0) A first, fast, glance at these two tells me that if it were me, I’d probably be focused on the clinch for T Bone and perhaps the ground game for Cruz.  But that’s just based upon Bone’s advantage in Muay Thai and wrestling while Cruz has a brown belt over Bone’s blue in Jiu Jitsu.  Gotta look a lot closer than that though!  Both men are more or less fully prepped, so let the big boys roll! Cruz has two submissions to his name during his pro MMA run so far, but the last one was back in March.  He’s had a bit of a rough go since then, chalking up a 2-5 record mostly at NYF’s.  He’s 1-1 so far here at SPPS, with a KO loss to Szabolcs in his debut then a decision over Buryckin midway through last month.  Both men were pretty focused on getting to the ground in that fight but it was Cruz’ striking on the feet and GnP on the ground that prevailed.  Will he go with a similar approach, with a high percentage of his strikes boxing finding a landing spot again? T Bone is also 1-1 since coming to SPPS, with a KO loss to Hopper in his debut and then a KO win over Kobelikos at Resurrection 04 last month, the same date that Cruz last fought.  So both have had the same rest.  T Bone has a solid chin, but we’ve only seen that Cruz showed Inexperienced so it would seem that the intangibles edge will go to T Bone tonight.  T Bone also has a history of explosive KO finishes, so perhaps the fans get some fireworks to cheer for here?  Not if Cruz can get it to the ground! Donkey, give us a winner?  Donkey’s Pick: T Bone via TKO (Strikes) Most of T Bone’s wins have involved some sort of nasty striking, and many of Cruz’ recent losses have been finishes that resulted in some smelling salts involved. I have to go with T Bone here, that inexperienced worries me for Cruz.  His best bet is to get this to the ground and work for a decision or submission I’d think.  But dang, getting it to the ground three times and avoiding the big one is going to be tough if he can’t get a sub. *********************** Main Card Bout #3: Middleweights Omar Raharu (9-2-1) v Rivo Niskanen (3-1-0) Halfway through the Main Card we get a bit of Middleweight action going as Raharu and Niskanen are both set and ready to get at it!  Morale, check.  Energy, check.  Let’s gooooo!  Both are pretty close in primaries with Raharu perhaps having a slight edge in boxing and wrestling.  I’d think strategy is going to come much more into play here though.  And here’s the thing, this fight us UBER important to both of these kids as a Title Fight is the prize for the victory, with my own Abner sitting in the wings waiting for a challenger for the belt. Niskanen came into SPPS and immediately chalked up his first dubya, taking out a struggling Ovaltine Jenkins who’d been on a murderous losing streak that continued with the loss to Niskanen.  An early second round KO was what the fans ordered and got served up in that one, which also earned Niskanen ‘KO of the Night’ honors. Niskanen has won his last three fights via KO, with two of them being QFC battles.  Seeing him do it against actual org competition was a solid showing, but tonight will be the real test.  Were those wins just over a struggling Jenkins and QFC opponents, or does he have what it takes to slip past Raharu and go for the belt?!? Raharu won’t make it easy on Niskanen.  He pulled a majority draw against Chai in their first meeting here at SPPS back in August and then outdueled Chai in a rematch last month to grab the decision. The adjustments Raharu and camp made were solid, as he won all three rounds in that rematch.  He was uber aggressive in standup and worked the kicks in well to mix things up.  He showed a high level of cardio in his first fights, so we don’t know what’s under the hood yet, but tonight we’ll certainly find out if he can hold his own against some power on the opposite side of the cage!  He has taken two KO’s previously, five and six fights back while at TOF, so the jury is out! Donkey, what do you think we get from this? Donkey’s Pick: Raharu via Unanimous Decision Very, VERY tough one to pick here.  You could make a case either way. I want to go with the itch and tingle on the back of my neck saying to go with Niskanen’s potential power, despite the lack of big opponents to date, but at the same time I know Raharu has been showing big potential to really work a fight. I’m going to go with that instead for now.  Show me the truth tonight boys!!! *********************** Co-Main Event: Featured Welterweight Bout Neo Till (2-0-0) v Rhashaun Kinkead (7-7-0) Donkey, we’re getting there!  Co-Main Event time and we’ve got some Welterweights set to do battle this evening.  Unfortunately, at least Till is slightly unprepared.  Not horrifically so, but still not topped off in both morale and energy.  Energy might be there by fight time though with some rest tonight.  Morale will not. Kinkead will have the edge in Muay Thai and Jiu Jitsu this evening.  A strange set of advantages over Till who will bring a boxing edge while being about even in wrestling.  Things get fun when we look closer at Kinkead, who showed KO Power early in his career but has since taken a road of submissions to get his dubs under multiple managers (he’s on his fourth now!).  If he decides to continue that trend, his elite wrestling and brown belt should serve him well. Till started his MMA pro career here at SPPS two months ago and so far has walked along to a nice 2-0 start!  Both TKO finishes over Niolau and Ariima.  But, things get more interesting and certainly more challenging now as he begins his walk up the ladder!  He’s clearly got the hands and power to get the job done.  Let’s toss this to the Donkey boy for his take on this fight! Donkey’s Pick: Kinkead via Submission (Armbar) Till has the wrestling to possibly defend himself well on the ground.  But, does he have the power to finish against a step up in competition and to fend off a submission with that blue belt if he finds himself on the ground?  Lots of things to learn tonight!  Most know that I do enjoy a solid ground specialist, so I’m going to throw my hat towards a potential ‘Sub of the Night’ fight here… *********************** Main Event: Featured Featherweight Bout Zane Raven (11-4-0) v Jerry Hammerstein (9-6-0) Here we go Donkey!  Our Main Event and the men on the poster!  I’m going to hope that Raven is about to rest as we speak because I’d hate to see him come into this one a little low on energy when he’s got the Main Event! Hammerstein has slight advantages in a few of the primaries, actually, everything but Jiu Jitsu where they both have black belts.  He dropped his SPPS debut last month in a TKO loss to Chang, and came into SPPS on a two fight losing streak including a loss to Raven in his final fight at RSE.  Raven pulled off the armbar submission in that one so you know that may be weighing on Hammerstein’s head a little bit tonight.  But, with new management, perhaps he has new perspective, new strategy and a new outlook on this rematch!  Early in his career under P J Jones, he was a bit of a submission machine.  So he definitely knows his way around the mat.  Since then, under Chuck, most of his wins came via decision though.  I can’t wait to see what Dagestani Hog Rider and the Lair of Profound…wow, well, um, yeah…what they have him bring to the cage tonight. Despite the fact that Raven won via submission over Hammerstein last time they met, he is coming off a submission loss of his own in his SPPS debut last month.  Hooez managed to secure the kimura for the victory, something that rarely happens for Raven as he’s pulled off eight submissions over his career but only had them turned around on him twice so far.  I think it’s safe to say he’ll likely try to go the same route as last time for a tap out tonight by Hammerstein. Donkey, tell us what you see in this final fight of the evening? Donkey’s Pick: Raven via Submission (Kimura) It’s difficult to overlook Raven’s track record on the ground or the prior result between these two.  I just hope  Dagestani brings some nuance to the table and makes this thing interesting tonight!!!  I’m ready, are you?!?  I think so! *********************** So we’re all set folks!  Donkey and I will be heading over to the Hard Knocks Arena shortly and we can’t wait to talk about the Undercard results and any other exciting action that comes up tonight in a post-fight, Cheap Shots review!  But, in the meantime, hope all our boys heading to the cage have their heads on a swivel and are ready to protect those dingle-dangles!  Let’s goooo! Till then, have fun and don’t forget… Keep it cheap and dirty…Sucker Punch style!
