Osbourne Matthias McKane was ranked Ireland's #1 MMA prospect in 2014 by the Tycoon Times. After numerous public incidents and run-ins with the law - starting with assault and ending with indecent exposure - it's well documented that Ozzy loves nothing more than fighting, drinking, and hookers, in that order. You can't understand a word he says, but this Irish brawler is a fan favorite; he comes at you aggressively with heavy hands on the feet and a slick submission game on the ground.

Now this is a story, all about how,

Ozzy's life got flipped-turned upside down...

FRESH PRINCE OF DUBLIN

Before Ozzy was Ireland's #1 ranked MMA prospect at the age of 21 by the Tycoon Times, he was Dublin's 16 year-old bare-knuckle boxing champion. Patrick McWhiskey introduced Ozzy to shady business mogul Chris Karter who offered him an invitation to train at Convicted Fight Club. The Underground Circuit doesn't pay well, if at all for a 16 year old, and through Chris Karter he met retired MMA fighter Bob Chong who introduced him to his connection in Amsterdam. From that moment on, although short-lived, Ozzy lived a luxurious life-style. The young man's Dublin estate was raided by local authorities with felony warrants for trafficking & distributing marijuana. Through mysterious resources Ozzy vanished and reappeared in the United States under the identity of a Frenchman named Pierre Morrell. In Los Angeles he started training MMA at Convicted Fight Club.

A pure brawler off the street, he came into the gym with little technique but this didn't hamper his ability to learn and evolve as a fighter. Described by Pluto Palhares as the most intuitive student he's ever instructed. He had his purple belt in BJJ by the age of 18. He made his professional debut at Insanity 13, a fight he won 3 minutes and 19 seconds into the first round by knockout. He would win his next two fights by kimura, even though he was getting stiffed for submission of the night awards, he was displaying that grappling ability Pluto had complimented, and at 19 years old he earned a title shot vs the 5-0 undefeated knockout artist Jeremy "Hands of Stone" Smith.

Appearing on the Co-Main Event slot, the fight would take place at Hiyashi's Lounge in Los Angeles. After putting the pressure on early, Jeremy Smith was in control and coasting by for the majority of the first 4 rounds of their fight, but after a smack on the ass from his corner, a bloodied up McKane would come out in the 5th and take Smith down, immediately take his back, and had the champ tapping out to a rear-naked-choke, earning submission of the night honors he deserved.

At 19 years old, he was the new welterweight champion of Insanity. He defended his title 4 consecutive times and was the featured main event for 4 consecutive shows. He was the face of Insanity. After a submission victory over heavy hitting Englishman Henry Percy, he was the King of Hiyashi's Lounge in Los Angeles. Next up, Hard Rock. He thrived under the spotlight and after a close back-and-forth 1st round, he sent fellow Irishman Johnny Shamrock, a decorated amateur kick boxer, crashing to the canvas out-cold, 42 seconds into the 2nd round.

His next title defense was against the 7-2 Abu Dhabi champion Bosco Brown at the Hard Rock arena, featured as the co-main event. 21 years old, after a long night of drinking, he came into the arena with his usual drunken tunnel vision, an epic focus only found at the bottom of bottles of the most potent whiskey, and the crowd could sense victory was his. Ozzy floored Brown with a combination early in the first and appeared to attack with submissions for the duration of the round. After edging out the second round that took place mostly on the ground, Ozzy's pace and assault would drop off considerably. Despite the referee frequently standing the fighters back to their feet, Bosco Brown had no issues getting the fight back to the mat, where Ozzy would unsuccessfully attack with submission attempts. This apparently impressed the judges enough to reward Bosco Brown the title, much to Ozzy's visual dismay. Ozzy was disappointed and when the interviewer asked him how he felt, he replied:

http://25.media.tumblr.com/a2da8785d6c1e39ad0d84fa6f24316f1/tumblr_mfyr3swKPg1qf5do9o1_400.gif

and moments later

http://runluaurun.files.wordpress.com/2013/01/2960772_o1.gif

and then he wasn't seen for a while...

Picked up by Interpol shortly after this display went viral, after a year long battle in court Ozzy's charges were dismissed and his case, settled. Now 23 years old and what seems like a long lost prospect who turned into a distant memory, he's reappeared on the MMA scene training full-time at Convicted Fight Club. Only time will tell what kind of impact he will make.

Today was a win for Ireland, they've just been informed that one of their all-time favorite fighters has officially booked his first fight under Convicted Inc management. Perhaps the brightest MMA prospect out of Ireland since Jameson Connemara and teammate Patrick McWhiskey -- Ireland's Ozzy McKane (8-1) is set to fight Australia's Nick Bentner (11-2) on the main card of Insanity 88. Nick "The Buzz" Bentner is a Blunt Force Trauma veteran and an exceptional wrestler that's been described as a wrecking ball on the ground, attacking his opponents with vicious GNP. Despite being a veteran of the sport with a respectable record against tough competition, his claim to fame has been his entrance song My Dick. These two are set to square off at the Venice Beach arena on 5-23-15.

Ozzy McKane - 5x Insanity Welterweight Champion - made his official debut under Convicted management. The Irish fighter was one of MMA's hottest commodity before his unfortunate absence and inactivity from the fight scene.

After two years out of the fight-game due to legal issues, Ozzy McKane (9-1) made his Convicted debut at Insanity 88 against Nick Bentner (11-3). The Irish fighter dominated the fight from start to finish displaying excellent takedown defense. Despite being cut early in the 2nd round by an impressive overhand right, he used his dirty boxing and wrestling to keep the fight on the feet and take the round. Bentner managed to land an early takedown in the third, but Ozzy synced up a triangle choke before he could react and before he knew it, the Australian was choked to sleep. Ozzy improves to 9-1 and Nick Bentner falls to 11-3 and was finished for the first time in his career. Ozzy earned submission of the night honors and pocketed an extra $2500.

Bentner gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, McKane regains guard.
http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/fight/sub.gif
Bentner has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing McKane to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Bentner is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - McKane pulls down on the head and he's put Bentner to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Ozzy McKane!

Ozzy's antics may of been controversial, but after he put Nick Bentner to sleep he earned the sub of the night award

We're sitting down with the Irish prospect Ozzy McKane, coming fresh off his victory against Nick Bentner, how's your body holding up? You look like you're in great shape, despite being cut open in your last fight you're looking like a fresh set of legs.

"Oi fale deadly, oi luk deadly, oi'm ready ter scrap."

You're coming off a submission of the night performance, how you feel about that?
"Oi love nicker. chicken's blow straight in de davy crockett."

Any plans in the future?
"Scrap, draink, scrap, draink, an' scrap sum more."

Any idea on your next opponent?

"I'll puk anybody in de bake if they pay me enoof."

Now let's ask some personal questions, about your background. Where you from?
"Summerhill, in de 'eart av Dublin."

You got in a lot of fights growing up?
"T'be sure."

How old were you when you first got involved in Ireland's bare-knuckle boxing circuit?
"Thirteen years auld."

Is it true that you defeated "Cocky" Rocky McColgan in a bareknuckle boxing match?

"Yeah, we went at it in Wexford. Oi wus 16 years auld an' Rocky wus 19. Yer man wus de district champion on dat side av de islan'. Classic scrap. Slug fest. We went back an' forth an' yer man knocked me down but yer man got knackered an' oi eventually knocked 'imself oyt cowl."

You knocked him out?
"Oi caught 'imself wi' a jammy roi 'an' an' wus oyt."

Knocked Rocky McColgan out cold?

"Sleepin'."

Do you think you can knock him out in an MMA fight?
"Absolutely. If oi couldn't oi wud submit 'imself. Rocky's lashings bigger though now'er days, lashings more muscle. Yer man 'as definitely belt de juice 'ard in recent years."

Now, on to your legal issues... you were picked up by INTERPOL after your loss to Bosco Brown for trafficking tons of marijuana to Ireland. It's been two years and the case was finally settled. You were facing over 20 years in prison. How do you feel about the decisions you made?
"So waaat, oi broot sum gimp ter de 'um lan', big dayle. A wee bit av marijuana across de pond never 'urt anybody. Oi wus 'elpin' people."

Does your infatuation with Medical Marijuana make the transition from Ireland to California that much easier?
"'Tis true so 'tis, oi love wha de gran' grass grows."

To be quite frank with you, and no disrespect intended, I haven't really understood a damn thing you've been saying to me.
"'You're a jackass, that's why."

Well that was pretty clear, and rude.

"'I'll show yer rude whaen oi bend yisser ma over de table in me kitchen an' feck 'er. i'll 'av her callin' me daddy."

Haha, good show. Well ladies and gentleman, that was Ozzy McKane. Entertaining as always.

"'Peace, love, an' drinkin'."

BREAKING NEWS
OZZY McKANE KNOCKS OUT BOWSER STORMCROW AFTER ASCENSION 323

Ascension 323's after-party in a local brewery escalated into a full-out melee between Convicted and Broken Halo parties. According to eye witnesses and bystanders, Ascension's welterweight champion was knocked unconscious and escorted to Central Middlesex Hospital. Initially reported in critical condition, his status was downgraded to stable and recovering, and isn't expected to miss any time this year or be sidelined very long. We interviewed several witnesses in the area to receive their account of that night's events. The following report is from Ascension Featherweight Champion and fellow Irish-man Jameson "Guinness" Connemara, who was at the scene first hand and received a birds-eye view of the events.

"So it's four o'clock in the morning and they had everybody leave the club, right? Well, Ascension had bussed us all over there and we were waiting on the bus to get back and pick us up to bring us back to the hotel. It's down to Leonidas [Katsaros], me [Jameson Connemare], Klatz Matz, [Chris] Karter, that Japanese fighter [Kabuto Wakizashi], Bowser [stormcrow] and Ozzy McKane. Ozzy McKane's crew was still there, Bowser's crew was also still there.

I walked out the back door to go in the alley. Bowser's buddy jumped on my back. He jumped on my back and acted like he had me in a choke hold, just messing around, you know? Then I felt him get ripped off of me. I turned around and Klatz had HIM in a chokehold, and was really choking him. The guy looked like a mouse that just got trapped in a mousetrap; his eyes were popping out and obviously he wasn't breathing.
Klatz thought he was actually attacking me – that's the only reason he did it. So I turned round and told Klatz to let him go, and Klatz let him go. Then Bowser's buddy turned around and basically said ‘what the f*** are you doing?' to Klatz. Well, when he said that, one of Ozzy McKane's buddies, this one guy who kind of took care of us all week long, thought this guy was actually trying to fight us, so he ran out of the crowd and cracked this kid with a right hand and knocked him out cold....
The entire alley erupted into a huge brawl. I was just standing there, and there were bodies flying all over the place. I was confused how it all happened, because it happened so fast. I was standing there with my mouth open like ‘what the hell is going on?' I looked over and Leonidas was with his back against the wall, knocking people out that were trying to go after him. Then I looked over and there's Bowser directly past me, taking his coat off, going after Ozzy McKane, and Ozzy McKane's backing up the alley taking his jacket off. Both their jackets come off, and Bowser throws a left hook at Ozzy and misses, and right as he missed, Ozzy counters with, like, a five-punch combo, landed right on the chin, and knocked Bowser out. OUT. Bowser fell face-first down to the ground, and then Ozzy stomped him on the face a couple of times with his boots.
I couldn't believe my eyes. It happened so quick. One of the best fighters on the planet just got pulverized in 10 seconds. Ozzy's crowd scattered when the cops came, and Bowser's Broken Halo posse began stalking Ozzy down in the alley. The guy turned out to be Bowser's manager, and he ended up getting cold-clocked with a left hook and one of his buddies [later identified as Estefan Chiscano] threw a leg kick and ate one on the chin in return. That's when the cops showed up and started pepper spraying the crowd. We had to get out of there. Street was shut down for the night. Still though, helluva punch and a win for Team Ireland."

Ozzy "Irish Hand Grenade" McKane (9-1) is scheduled to fight Kelvin "Bear" Spong (7-1) in the co-main event of Insanity 91 at the Hard Rock arena in Los Angeles. Spong is the #4 ranked welterweight in the division. In the Irishman's last bout, he literately choked opponent Nick Bentner (11-3) unconscious with a 3rd round triangle choke that earned him submission of the night honors and an early candidate for submission of the year. Ozzy, the former Insanity welterweight champion, looked in excellent physical condition in his last fight. Spong, is coming off a brutal first round knockout loss against #1 contender Shintaro Nomo, who is currently booked to fight Jozef "Brawler" Beast, the current champion.

Probably one of the most entertaining career stories I've read. I'm looking forward to seeing what will happen to him, fingers crossed he'll be able to compete with the best in the game.

I guess the immediate goal will be to take back that Insanity title by beating Jozef Beast (15-5).

Thanks. Working on it randomly, so some shit will get edited from time to time.

Ozzy's immediate goals: finish his next opponent; rematch vs Bosco Brown; and if I had to guess who Ozzy will be fighting for the title, I would guess Shintaro Nomo.

"I said to all of ya that I would be the champion again, and yer damn right, the belt is finally home. I want to thank my team, my manager and slider wizard of striking strategy Chris Karter, all my coaches at Convicted Fight Club, Fidel Puno, Tor Nansen, you men are the best of the best."

"Andy Carroll - you tasted the Irish Hand Grenade - pow! right to the kisser and down you go. Do yer'self a favor and get out of my division. Yer only chance is firing that shitty manager of yours and searchin' for a real fight manager. You stand no chance with that bum in yer corner lad. Grant Brophy is a scrub. T'be honest when I seen him in yer corner I thought he was y'water boy or ye' fluffer. I'll be at the top for a long time, so maybe one day you'll get a chance to be coached by some real coaches and get a shot at a rematch. I know you kicked me in the nuggets intentionally, I give you the benefit of the doubt that the scumbag in yer corner told ya t'do it, but boy you had to pay the price for it. Kick Ozzy in the nuggets, and this left hand will be chin-checkin' you."

"John Hetfield - bout damn time you gave yer man a KOTN award! It's been too damn long and I felt like I got stiffed for that award vs Kelvin Spong. I don't care who you put in front of me, but for the sake of all the fight fans in Ireland, give Johnny Shamrock the title shot. No war should be left unfinished and we have some unfinished business between the two of us. Yeah, I knocked the fella out but he won a rightfully earned unanimous decision in our last bout. That leaves us with one more bone to pick, and that bone should be settled within 5 rounds. I think the fans agree. Let the two irish warriors duke it out one last time."

When he was approached by the ringside reporter, Ozzy shouted into the mic...

"That is how IRELAND does it!!!"

The reporter stood there, mic in his face.

"FUCK ISIS!"

Reporter remained. Ozzy took the mic and blurted the following...

"He fuckin' rocked my knocker for a second there, yeah? Opening bell ninth round and he kicks me in noggin'. Yer s'pose to be tired, going Bruce Lee on me. Went all Louie Armstrong. Fucking wake up bananas call that was. Curtain call man, game over. Bloody pie hell. Never been rocked like that in m'life. I thought I 'ad him in the first outing, and he hung in there.. Like a true Irish fighter! That's the spirit of Ireland, can ye' feel it in the fuckin' air!? The crowd loves the energy we bring to the table, we know how to main event! Respect to my fellow Irishman, Johnny Shamrock, it was a helluva series. Let us enjoy this moment, we are both winners in warrior spirit. Best of luck to ya lad."

We caught up with Ozzy McKane directly after his 4th round TKO over Charles "The Master Debater" Grace from Gale Hawthorne's camp.

http://cdn2.sbnation.com/imported_assets/876569/1.gif

"Little Charlie boy learned the hard way, you can't out master debate a drunken Irish man. Sigfried and Roy said the Irish are the only men impervious to master debating. I meticulously pounded Charles Grace into the canvas. First I worked my way into it, taking my time in round 1, and being patient finding my rhythm and timing. Once I found it, I hit it hard, than I hit it fast, and after I was finished, the climaxing moment is when I felt like the champ with the belt on my waist and a pile of man mess on the canvas."
