  1. "Diamond" Macka Briggs It's raining in Lucea today; not exactly the weather I was hoping for as I boarded my flight to Jamaica, but it feels great to be on the island again. I'm waiting patiently at Half Moon Bar and Restaurant, just up the road from Lucea on the way to Negril. Macka was supposed to be here an hour ago, but this is island time I tell myself. Toots and the Maytals are playing, so I order another Red Stripe and lean into the bar. The bartender slides over a fresh cold one and places a shot of Wray & Nephew down beside it as I hand him an American $50. "Ya mon, keep the change" I tell the smiling barkeep who in turn, bumps knuckles in gratitude. "you seen Macka around?" I ask. Just then, a beautiful woman hurriedly bounces/steps onto the patio - curves in all the right places - smiling ear to ear and giggling. "Hiiiiii Jimmy, you have a drink for meeee?" she questions, sliding her fingers down my arm. "Cut di mon alone an guh siddung ova deh suh gyal." The woman flashes Briggs some cut eye, sucks her teeth and stomps sulking over to a table. It's Macka's girlfriend and she is not impressed. He's finally here. Macka Briggs strolls onto the patio like he owns the place. He casually looks around at everything and gives a nod to the bartender. Macka glides over to her table, flips a chair around, sits down on it backwards and stares me straight in the eye. "Diamond you good bro?" I ask. " I 'n I good Star. Jimmy Normal...General...mi ave one question fah yuh." he starts. "Wen duh mi staat smashing di guys?" "June 5th my friend, June 5th."

  8. Alpha-1 Promotions: Unbreakable Author: Jimmy Normal Alpha-1 fighters showed up in Los Angeles on Saturday to prove who is Unbreakable! It turns out that not everybody is as we saw 6 finishes on this card. 89,274 fans packed the Memorial Colossuseum and were brought to a frenzy and were treated to a wild night of fights! Let’s get to the action! PRELIMS - 265lb CONTEST: Cedric De Boise vs Fernand Duif This is going to be a tough one to write about because I was hoping for a quality striking battle between these two given their records. Duif played it smart however and refused to get into many striking exchanges at range, instead utilizing clinch warfare to his advantage. Possibly a smart move considering De Boise had him bleeding inside the first minute of the fight. In any event, you can’t take anything away from the Fernand Duif for recognizing - and avoiding - a dangerous situation and Cedric De Boise will, no doubt, be back. WINNER: Fernand Duif (UD) PRELIMS - 135lb CONTEST: Lewis Burwell Puller vs Tom Thomas Well this one was decisive; Puller considers himself a big fish and pumps the brakes on Tom Thomas’ aspirations of fighting the top tier at the moment. Huge 1st round finish for Puller tonight and this has to have the top 5 taking notice and has no doubt earned him plenty more fans in the process.. WINNER: Lewis Burwell Puller t(KO) 185lb CO-MAIN EVENT:  Jack Lynn vs Yusuke Urameshi I was all in on Jack Lynn for this one and boy was I wrong. I offer my sincere apologies to Yusuke Urameshi for my prediction on this one. This was an unbelievable scrap that could have easily taken the FOTN award. Jack Lynn came out doing what Jack Lynn does; looks for the finish. Lynn had Urameshi in all sorts of trouble early on, taking him down, working for the submission, rocking and cutting him all in the 1st round. Urameshi kept his composure, managed to escape back to his feet and get himself back into this contest. Another takedown by Lynn in the 3rd round was answered with a quick escape and then the tables fully turned. Urameshi steps up his production and puts Jack Lynn away in the 3rd and final round. I’m going to be a bit more careful in my predictions from now on. WINNER: Yusuke Urameshi (t(KO) Jimmy’s Prediction: Lynn by Submission (0-1) 185lb CONTEST MAIN EVENT: Jarna Kuiva vs Michel Colucci Michel Colucci makes a statement in this one, and Jarna Kuiva hits a brick wall. Colucci shows he should still be in every discussion as it pertains to the title picture, with a bounce back submission win after his loss to Yes Man Sanchez. As predicted, Colucci pulled off a slick armbar finish here and kept Kuiva playing defense for the entire fight. WINNER: Michel Colucci (Sub) Jimmy’s Prediction: Colucci by Submission (1-1) Honourable mention goes out tonight for Lightweight Champion Domenico Mazziotti, who was curiously left out of the Main Event for his latest title defense. Nonetheless, Mazzioti showed up as the consummate professional and schools Sao Alela in under a minute to retain his shiny Alpha-1 belt in dominant fashion. FOTN:DeSilva vs Granger KOTN: Domenico Mazziotti SOTN:John Lawrence
  9. FOOTNOTE: Apologies for the lack of poster viewing...forum isn't letting me upload even though my file is well below the size limit. Alpha-1 Promotions: Unbreakable Author: Jimmy Normal Alpha-1 is heading back to the LA Memorial Colossuseum on Saturday, April 24th to bring its second offering, Unbreakable! The promotion continues to pick up steam since scrapping the SMASH FC moniker and is dropping yet another fantastic card on the fans, hoping to repeat the success it had with A New Beginning. Under my new format, we’ll be taking a look at the Main and Co-Main events and I’ll share a couple scraps from the undercard that I wouldn’t miss for a bathroom break. Let’s jump right in and see what all the fuss is about! PRELIMS - 265lb CONTEST: Cedric De Boise vs Fernand Duif https://mmatycoon.com/scoutfight.php?fida=352126&fidb=330281 Alpha-1 recently consolidated it’s HW and SHW divisions to Heavyweight and this shook up the rankings a bit. De Boise and Duif got the short end of the stick here, as they have both been removed from the top 10 only because of the concentrated level of talent. This doesn’t take anything away from either fighter though because they are both beastly menaces anyway you look at it. It will be interesting to see which man truly wants his name in the spotlight with a win here. PRELIMS - 135lb CONTEST: Lewis Burwell Puller vs Tom Thomas https://mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=1041201 This is a tasty little (pardon the pun) scrap. Alpha-1 has a stacked Bantamweight division and here we have Puller (ranked 8th) squaring off with Thomas (ranked 5th) to see who will be fighting in the top grouping and who will be fighting in the bottom grouping. Pick your poison here as this will be like deciding who swims with the sharks and who swims with the piranhas. 185lb CHAMPIONSHIP CO-MAIN EVENT: Jack Lynn vs Yusuke Urameshi https://mmatycoon.com/scoutfight.php?fida=298434&fidb=324085 Jack Lynn. He’s had 26 fights and won 19 of them...by t(KO) or Submission. It’s like he’s allergic to decisions because the only ones on his record are 3 losses. Cue Yusuke Urameshi. The man is a bloody decision machine with 18 of his 27 victories were handed down by the judges (pssst...he has 9 t(KO)’s too), but has never been knocked out. He has succumbed to 3 chokes though. Who is going to put in the work here? Jimmy’s Prediction: Lynn by Submission 185lb CONTEST MAIN EVENT: Jarna Kuiva vs Michel Colucci https://mmatycoon.com/scoutfight.php?fida=362845&fidb=322576 Another couple of talented fighters looking to push up on the top 5 in the rankings. Kuiva has made a strong case for himself by finishing his last 3 opponents in devastating fashion, stopping his most recent fights with strikes in one form or another. Colucci on the other hand has had mixed success lately going 1 for 3 with losses to Harry Winston and Yes Man Sanchez (the former Champion). It is worth noting that he had finished Winston in their first fight and also holds a win over current Champion, Ibrahim Camara. Not a man to be trifled with. Jimmy’s Prediction: Colucci by Submission

  11. REVIEW Alpha-1 Promotions: A New Beginning Author: Jimmy Normal Alpha-1: A New Beginning, the inaugural event for the new promotion is now in the books and by many metrics was a resounding success! PPV viewers were greeted by a boisterous crowd of over 87,000 screaming fans. I caught up with Kishion Mathew cageside as he signed an exposed titty for one adoring fan, and when asked for comment, he just flashed a smile and signalled that this was not the time; he was here to have fun, just like everyone else. Let’s get into the action! PRELIMS - 135lb CONTEST: Mikey Day vs Usko Matonen I had my eye on this one and suggested you make time to check it out. I admire both fighters, but something about Mikey Day just does it for me. He’s not necessarily a flashy guy and fans haven’t gravitated towards him, but you simply cannot deny the man is a force. He’s always working, doesn’t take a night off and has really turned himself around since switching to manager Kevin Connolly. Tonight he managed to avenge a loss to foe Usko Matonen, who didn’t appear to bring his A-Game for the fans. Day handled this one from the opening bell and took home a well earned unanimous decision win in the process. PRELIMS - 155lb CONTEST: Kree P Krawlee vs Lazuran Riku Another fighter I’ve been following is Kree P Krawlee. Krawlee has improved his consistency since he underwent a change in management and started fighting under the stewardship of Slobo Dragovic. As mentioned in my preview of the card however, Krawlee faced off against a formidable and much more experienced opponent. Lazuran Riku put the world on notice that he is no stepping stone tonight and came out guns blazing, countering and landing with bad intention. In the end, Krawlee’s chin couldn’t stand up to Riku’s power and the 43 year old journeyman bounced out of the arena with another t(KO) victory. CO-MAIN EVENT 185lb CHAMPIONSHIP: Yes Man Sanchez vs Ibrahim Camara We’re onto the Co-Main Event now, featuring a trilogy fight between Sanchez and Camara for the Middleweight Title. The fighters enter this one with something to prove to the fans and themselves. While both men remained active throughout, it was Camara with the tireless pressure in this one. He forced action from the opening bell, moving forward, throwing and clinching if his shots weren’t landing. Sanchez played a smart game landing counters and performing well in the clinch. The cut man paid a visit to each corner in this one and it was a thoroughly entertaining fight for the fans. Camara gets his hand raised for a convincing unanimous decision win and puts this rivalry to rest for now. AAAANND NEW MIDDLEWEIGHT ALPHA-1 CHAMPION...IBRAHIM CAMARA! WINNER: Ibrahim Camara (UD) Jimmy’s Prediction: Camara by Stoppage (0-1) MAIN EVENT - 170lb CHAMPIONSHIP: Humors Lacplesis vs Max Chaos Humors Lacplesis put his 170lb strap on the line against game challenger Max Chaos. Chaos came into this one willing to leave everything in the cage, throwing hands, kicks and taking the fight to the ground. Lacplesis has seen it all though and was prepared for anything and everything. Humors Lacplesis remained focused and patient, weathering a 1st round storm from Chaos, methodically chipping away at his opponent through the middle rounds and keeping his cool in the 5th to offer a lesson in resilience. I don’t believe we’ve seen the last of Max Chaos however. AAAANND STILL WELTERWEIGHT ALPHA-1 CHAMPION...HUMORS LACPLESIS! WINNER: Humors Lacplesis (UD) Jimmy’s Prediction: Lacplesis by Unanimous Decision (1-1) FOTN: Yes Man Sanchez vs Ibrahim Camara KOTN: Lazuran Riku SOTN: Mono Loco
  12. Alpha-1 Promotions: A New Beginning Author: Jimmy Normal Sometimes success needs interruption to regain focus and shake off complacency. - Lennox Lewis It seems that one of the best Boxers of our time and famous MMA Tycoon, Kishion Mathew (of SMASH FC fame), have something in common; neither man is content to rest at the height of their success. Mathew, a clever promoter and successful businessman, works tirelessly behind the scenes to bring MMA to the next level for fighters and fans alike, and now we bear witness to the revelation of his latest brainchild in Alpha-1 Promotions. The inaugural event for Alpha-1 is nothing short of incredible and marks the Promotions first foray into LA Memorial Colossuseum; an arena that holds almost 100,000 seats. The prelims are stacked with fighters who would normally occupy a main card and the top 4 bouts showcase an all-star selection of MMA’s finest. Here’s my look at the Main & Co-Main events that will take the world by storm on April 17, 2021. 170lb CHAMPIONSHIP MAIN EVENT: Humors Lacplesis vs Max Chaos Humors Lacplesis is defending his crown for the first time after defeating former SMASH FC Champion Schwartz Gomez in March. Lacplesis needed just 2 rounds to finish the seasoned Gomez with strikes and completely dominated the fight from start to finish. Lacplesis has 2 hands and 2 options for his opponent - lightning or thunder. Max Chaos is no stranger to the cage either, having fought all over the world and most recently with Synchronicity, this will be his first fight with the new Promotion. Chaos is equally dangerous both standing and on the ground, with 7 t(KO) and 8 submission wins to his credit. The “Captain” has an unwavering chin and the street smarts to take on anyone. Jimmy’s Prediction: Lacplesis by Unanimous Decision 185lb CHAMPIONSHIP CO-MAIN EVENT: Yes Man Sanchez vs Ibrahim Camara Yes Man Sanchez took his belt from defending Champion, Harry Winston, back in February of this year and has 1 defense under his belt with a win over Michael Colucci a month later. Sanchez has a gas tank that just won’t quit and the ability to also end the fight on a moment’s notice. What can you say about Ibrahim Camara? Nothing if you value your teeth. Camara has slept opponents in 21 of his 34 wins. Interestingly enough, Camara has already met Sanchez twice now, fighting to a draw in their first match up and securing the win in the rematch. Both bouts were title fights and the 3rd is no different. Jimmy’s Prediction: Camara by Stoppage As mentioned there are so many good fights to watch on the night. Here are a couple I’d suggest you keep your eye on: 135lb CONTEST: Mikey Day vs Usko Matonen These 2 find themselves on the prelims, but don’t let that fool you. This one is going to be a banger and could very well end up on the ground as both men are talented grapplers. 155lb CONTEST: Kree P Krawlee vs Lazuran Riku This will be a real test for Krawlee who is going up against a much more experienced fighter in Riku. Still this is a style match up for the most part and could go either way.

  15. SMASH: End of an Era Madison Garden Arena - New York We’re back in New York at Madison Garden Arena for the final showcase for SMASH FC! 19,268 MMA fans packed into the Garden to secure their seat in this historic night of fights. Arena officials having heard the rumours in London, let the fans BYOB. 145lb CO-MAIN EVENT: Harry McQuirre vs Domonic Dilbrandt Dilbrandt and McQuirre both looking to paste their names onto each others forehead and secure their place in the rankings as we transition to the Alpha-1 banner. Scheduled for 5 rounds, this fight looks to possibly have title shot implications. Domonic bleeds more than a Diaz brother and tonight was no different as McQuirre cuts him in the 1st round. Dilbrandt responds with a move to the clinch - can’t cut me if we’re hugging. Domonic’s aggression at this range really has McQuirre on the defensive and he isn’t able to really mount his own assault. Domonic undoes his hard work here though and breaks the clinch late in the 4th. McQuirre responds by unleashing a hellstorm of strikes and continues to go full spaz on him when he drops. Ref has to call this one. WINNER: Harry McQuirre t(KO) 170lb MAIN EVENT: Donald Trump vs Shwartz Gomez Another match up with ranking and possible title shot implications. Fresh off of a failed attempt at the strap, Gomez faces Trump who sits near the top of the rankings. With all of the submission wins on Trump’s resume, it seems curious that Gomez wouldn’t do more to fend off the takedown and keep this fight standing. The mat is where we quickly end up and although Gomez makes a valiant effort at nullifying Trump, he is just no match for him on the ground. Trump locks in a triangle early in the 2nd round and this one is all over! WINNER: Donald Trump (SUB) FOTN: McQuirre vs Dilbrandt KOTN: No Way SOTN: Donald Trump
  16. Goood afternoon MMA fans! Jimmy Normal here, bringing you the goods on this weekend’s FAREWELL double feature, brought to you by SMASH FC! Grab your nuts and buckle up! We’re in for a rough ride... SMASH: Rossi vs Peterson The H20 Arena - London SMASH FC returned to it’s weekly spot at The H20 Arena in London for it’s final show under the current banner. 19,233 fans arrived to thank the promotion and be part of their history by witnessing the last SMASH promoted event at H2O. There were rumours that H2O officials were upset about who would pay for the upgrades made to the arena to accommodate the intense SMASH fanbase, but SMASH FC owner, Kishion Mathew, assured them that it would be in their best interest to STFU. 170lb CO-MAIN EVENT: Blue Cup vs CJ Tripp I could go into a whole background story on these 2 fighters, but I’m hungover and quite frankly, the intro would take longer than this fight did. Blue Cup came into this one to test Tripp’s ability to handle pressure. It doesn’t go well for Cup. He gets countered into oblivion and does his best domino impression, falling face first into the canvas for a nap. CJ Tripp with the walk off KO. Nasty! WINNER: CJ Tripp (KO) 170lb CONTEST - MAIN EVENT: Mario Rossi vs Dylan Peterson Mario Rossi loves to fight and paint pictures of Jorge Masvidal. Dylan Peterson loves to fight and take pictures with belts he hasn’t won. Let’s see who means business in this one. This one turned out to be a technical matchup. Both fighters were in for the long haul here with Rossi dominating the standup and Peterson looking for the ground work. It was Peterson’s inability to ensure the takedown (2 for 24 attempts) and Rossi’s ability to escape to his feet that decided where this fight would happen. After that Rossi’s precision took the reins as he walked away with the unanimous decision win. WINNER: Mario Rossi (UD) FOTN: Bandini vs Sasuke KOTN: Leif Erikson SOTN: Bruno Neves

  18. SMASH: Edmond vs Weudke Madison Garden Arena - New York We’re back in New York at Madison Garden Arena for a fun filled night of fights! 19,574 MMA fans packed the house, lusting for violence and avoiding the pizza. 3 of 4 main card fights shut out the lights, so this one was a banger! 265lb CONTEST: Murska Puro vs Keith Bishop You get the feeling that both of these guys are running on borrowed time. Puro can’t seem to get back to back wins and Bishop has strung together a 4 fight losing streak, albeit to a who’ who of the Smash HW division. These guys could be literally fighting for their careers tonight. The good news is that both fighters seem to understand this and come in looking for the kill. Unfortunately only one can be left standing under these circumstances and tonight it was Keith Bishop’s time to shine. Bishop smashes Puro with a massive left hook in the 2nd and continues to pound his skull until the ref separates the two. WINNER: Keith Bishop t(KO) 135lb CONTEST: Kris Jakua vs Roger Andermatt While Jakua and Andermatt start this fight with bad intentions, they also seem content to let one another stay in it for the opening round. A back and forth series of exchanges see’s these two trading blows, but nothing of real substance comes of the first round. In the 2nd round, Andermatt steps his game up both connecting with strikes and making Jakua miss a fair bit...he also seems to be throwing with more vigor, however Jakua keeps himself in this fight and although Roger seems to be winning, it is still close. Cue round 3. Andermatt is uncontent with leaving this one to the judges and throws a little more gusto into his punches. When Jakua walks into a stiff jab he looks dazed and Andermatt moves in for the kill. A head kick opens the door for the finish as Roger Andermatt follows up with a horrendous right hand, dropping the confused Jakua. A flurry of punches leaves the ref no choice and he steps in to save Jakua’s pride and health. WINNER: Roger Andermatt t(KO) 265lb - CO-MAIN EVENT: Philo Beddo Ii vs Mawi Da Oxlade Philo Beddo Ii has the ability to fight for 15 minutes. Mawi Da Oxlade is a question mark because all of his fights - win or lose - have never gone to the judges. Each fighter prefers to live or die by the sword. Last night was no different. Beddo Ii splits Mawi open within the first minute of this fight with a laser directed counter punch and we move to the clinch. Beddo Ii seems to be dominant while tying up Da Oxlade, landing knees and punches - and then the tide turns. Mawi Da Oxlade connects with an uppercut and cuts Philo before breaking the clinch. Philo drops his hands and Mawi throws a precision high kick and Ii is OUT. No need for a follow up because Philo is unconscious! WINNER: Mawi Da Oxlade (KO) 205lb - MAIN EVENT: Rayful Edmond vs Roland Weudke Both men have had a sniff at the belt against Cerberus Dionsy. Both have lost. These 2 journeymen have seen their highs and lows, but inconsistent showings mark their careers. Still they are both popular fighters amongst the hardcore fans since they are as tough as nails. An early right hand from Edmond cuts Weudke and looks like it could cause him problems. Rayful Edmond works the gaping wound looking for a doctor stoppage and making a bloody mess of Weudke’s face. The fans are loving this - good thing Weudke is already ugly as sin. Edmond pounds away at his opponent, but Weudke keeps coming forward. With the cut causing vision problems for Roland, he takes aim at the biggest target and is landing successfully to the body of Edmond while slowing him down with leg kicks. These shots are taking their toll on Rayful and he begins to tire and miss with his own offensive. When Rayful Edmond fails to put Weudke away, it gets turned over to the judges who calculate the points. Roland Weudke walks away from this battle the winner. WINNER: Roland Weudke (UD) FOTN: Bartolli vs Popper KOTN: Mawi Da Oxlade SOTN: Bob Dock
  19. Goood afternoon MMA fans! Jimmy Normal here, bringing you the goods on this weekend’s fantastic double feature brought to you by SMASH FC! Grab your nuts and buckle up! We’re in for a rough ride... SMASH: Niska vs Bee The H20 Arena - London SMASH FC returned to it’s weekly spot at The H20 Arena in London and were welcomed back by 19,275 screaming fans. The brand new concession booths were looking to be in a bit of disrepair and the arena owners, looking to save some expense, have fired the slower servers and added their duties to the security teams. Fans were generally more well behaved. 205lb CONTEST: Sol Kwon vs Soul Taker Both fighters enter this bout on a bit of a tear. Kwon is 4-1 in his last 5 fights, with his only loss coming at the hands of current Smash LHW Champion Cerberus Dionsy. Taker is also 4-1 in his last 5 fights and seems to be picking up momentum since his change in management. Kwon and Taker have their sights set on a stand up fight in this one, as they bring their gas tanks and proceed with high output striking exchanges. The game plans are almost identical except for Taker utilizing the clinch to his advantage and he walks away with a unanimous decision victory over the former title contender. WINNER: Soul Taker (UD) 205lb CONTEST: Simon Gustafsson vs Paul Joseph Watson The 2nd fight on the main card shares features a similar statistic with Cerberus Dionsy handing Simon Gustafsson his last loss. Gustafsson appears determined to claw his way back into the title picture with a follow up submission win against Rayful Edmond and now has his sights set on PJW. Paul Joseph Watson seems to have found a lucky charm in HW Champion Juha Niska. Appearing on the same card in his last 3 fights, seems to be working in Watson’s favour as he has gone 2-0 when occupying the same building. In the lead up to this fight, Gustafsson frequently spoke of his wrestling partners and their preparation for Watson, but he might be on the lookout for new sparring partners as he gets taken down right off the bat. Watson meanwhile has been all Namaste in Brazil, practicing breathing techniques and Yoga stretches. This seems to have paid off as he rebuffs the sub attempts by Gustafsson and secures a Kimura at 1:59 of the 1st round. Looks like PJW will be back on the beach in no time to bask in his victory and the warm sunshine. WINNER: Paul Joseph Watson (SUB) 265lb+ CO-MAIN EVENT: Ted Bundy vs Desi Kraag Neither of these men rely on their BJJ credentials to win fights with a combined 24 KO’s in their 36 wins. Bundy has watched the tapes and witnessed Kraag decimate his last 3 opponents with a single punch and this clearly played into his gameplan. After dodging Desi’s first offensive, Bundy lands a takedown and looks to control his opponent on the mat. Did I mention Kraag is a Black Belt? If not, Desi Kraag is a Black Belt. Bundy’s plan goes south in a hurry as Kraag, constantly moving, manages to find the opening and tighten up a guillotine for the win! WINNER: Desi Kraag (SUB) 265lb CHAMPIONSHIP - MAIN EVENT: Juha Niska vs Inspektor Bee The main event was set to be a barn burner, again, with 2 fighters unwilling to settle for a grappling match and 27 t(KO) victories between them both. I now wonder who is the lucky charm on these cards, Juha Niska or Paul Joseph Watson? Round 1 gets underway and both men get to work testing one another and looking for the advantage. Niska lands a 1-2 near the end of the round and puts the challenger on the ground. Bee gets waved to his feet and appears unsteady with a fresh cut opened up. Niska drags Bee into deep waters and employs the clinch to batter his opponent. The plan is working well in the 2nd as the Champion dominates the round. The 3rd is a close contest fought in the clinch as well, but the scorecards show Bee stealing it from the champ. The 4th round showcases more quality dirty boxing, but the tides could be turning here as Inspektor Bee finds a rhythm and lands a damaging elbow, cutting Niska in the process. Going into the final round, each fighter has taken 2 a piece and Smash owner Kishion Mathew is suddenly fielding calls from fight sponsor hopeful Tampax...there is a lot of blood in the cage. Both fighters are proving their resolve to keep this one out of the judges hands and are going for it! Niska and Bee trading shots at range and in the clinch, but after this war, neither has enough left to finish the other. They hug it out at the final bell, but during the post fight interview Niska acts as though he wasn’t very close to losing his belt. Great fight and the reigning Champ does just enough to retain his title. WINNER: Juha Niska (UD) FOTN: Niska vs Bee KOTN: Vladimir Tarlac SOTN: Desi Kraag

  21. SMASH: Knox vs Steelers Madison Garden Arena - New York The City that Never Sleeps, New York! Good thing because there were 5 first round finishes and only 2 decisions on the night...if you blinked, you likely missed something. 18,475 MMA fans filed into Madison Garden Arena for free pizza night and violence and dammit, they got both! 265lb+ CONTEST: Mark Lesnar vs Leopold Galute The thing about nightmares is that they happen when you’re asleep - Mark Lesnar puts people to sleep. Leopold Galute has game wherever the fight may end up, but has more recently been somewhat of a submission aficianado. These 2 Super Heavyweight fighters both came to party and both came hunting for the finish. Galute jumps into action pressing for the takedown, unafraid of Lesnar’s NCAA wrestling accolades. Lesnar halts the attempt only to find himself in the clinch with the determined Galute. Leopold pulls guard and Lesnar doesn’t seem to mind horribly, postures up and lands a big strike. Fans edge to the front of their seats as this could spell doom for Galute. Lesnar signals that something is wrong and tries to protect his arms, but it’s too late - Leopold Galute has one isolated and has thrown his legs up for a triangle. Once he locks them in, this one is all over as Galute flashes a smile indicating he’s got it. Lesnar taps, Galute thanks his sponsor for the free swag. WINNER: Leopold Galute (SUB) 265lb+ CONTEST: Jon Nolan vs Jerome Steel Jon Nolan only has one glaring hole in his game. Jerome Steel filled it for him. Nolan managed to deliver one solid body shot to Steel before the dominant Muay Thai practitioner stepped up the action. A quick working over in the clinch has Nolan pushing his way out only to catch a few brutal punches at distance. When Steel retreats for a quick breather, the whole crowd is shocked into a frenzy when the Super Heavyweight explodes forward with a flying knee, crumpling Nolan to the canvas. G’night Dick! Game over. WINNER: Jerome Steel (KO) 135lb CHAMPIONSHIP - CO-MAIN EVENT: C - Yodsawan Sitsongrit vs Tom Thomas Both Champion and Challenger are distance fighters for the most part. Both extremely talented strikers, each man can fully batter an opponent for 5 rounds and beyond. Polished technique will surely be on display in this Championship bout. Both men took turns pushing the pace in this one, with Sitsongrit dialing in the accuracy. This fight looked like a choreographed sequence from a martial arts movie as the fighters proving both elusive in their defense and viper-like in their attacks. Ultimately this was a back and forth affair, with the Champion landing at a higher percentage and taking all but one round from the challenger. One has to wonder how long Yodsawan can continue with these 15 - 25 minute wars however. WINNER: Yodsawan Sitsongrit (UD) 265lb+ CHAMPIONSHIP - MAIN EVENT: C - Zeta Knox vs Pittsburgh Steelers Zeta Knox last entered the cage as challenger and exited as Champion, dethroning Nekele and sending him on a 2 fight skid. Pittsburgh Steelers also faced Nekele, but the roles were reversed and saw his title go to the challenger in that bout. Both of these men are animals and have the ability to violently end an opponents night. The lads get straight to the point and start swinging. You know this is going to end badly for one of them tonight. A couple of shots traded and Steelers goes high with a head kick that misses. Knox gets gun shy at the wrong moment and pays dearly as Steelers counters with a head kick that makes the worst sound. I mean it was bad. I puked a little bit and will never look at free pizza night the same ever again. MMA Math fails yet again and we have a new SHW Champion! WINNER: Pittsburgh Steelers (KO)
  22. Goood afternoon MMA fans! Jimmy Normal here, bringing you the goods on this weekend’s fantastic double feature brought to you by SMASH FC! Grab your nuts and buckle up! We’re in for a rough ride... SMASH: Arteta vs Camara The H20 Arena - London SMASH FC returned to The H20 Arena in London and were welcomed back by 18,481 screaming fans. The concession booths featured brand new splash guards which were installed after the last raucous event and security teams were put into place to safeguard the slower servers. 155lb CONTEST: Kree P Krawlee vs James Smith A true style match up was lined up to start the main card, as Kree P Krawlee and James Smith squared off for the first time. The #7 ranked SMASH FC lightweight, Krawlee declined his invitation to a world renowned Jiu Jitsu tournament this weekend to instead square off against #9 ranked striker, James Smith. A win here would surely nudge either fighter up the rankings in a very competitive division. Krawlee had earned a SOTN and FOTN award in his past 2 outings and clearly came into this bout looking for some more extra cash. Despite his grappling credentials, James Smith proved to be incapable of coping with Krawlee’s ground game. While it was Smith who secured the takedown at the opening bell, Krawlee immediately began to work for the submission with an attempted guillotine. Smith defends well only to see Krawlee switch for a triangle which is also defended against. Krawlee explodes his hips out and catches his opponent by surprise and transitions to an arm bar! Smith has no choice but to tap. Looks like Krawley likes the bonus cash as he walks away with another SOTN award. Amazing stuff! WINNER: Kree P Krawley (SUB) 135lb CONTEST: Usko Matonen vs Lewis Burwell Puller This bantamweight clash was expected to be a showcase in striking and it did not disappoint. Puller comes out hot, firing a couple of punches at Matonen and instigates a clinch. Puller is putting in work here as he begins to tenderize Matonen, who is game for the exchange and looks to return the favour. The fighters separate and the Finn begins to attack his opponents base with leg kicks, until he goes high and blasts Puller with a head kick! LBP has seen enough and tries to duplicate his success, tying Usko Matonen back up in the clinch. Puller sees only limited success as Matonen controls well until they break and it becomes apparent that the earlier head kick has done some damage. Matonen unloads a hook to the head and follows up with a scary uppercut that had Puller sleeping before he hit the mat. WINNER: Usko Matonen (KO) 145lb CO-MAIN EVENT: Dominic Dillbrandt vs Anton Strolman I haven’t seen this much dirty boxing since my dear Mum’s 65th birthday party! Aunt Glady’s was drunk and considerably heavier than these 2 lads, which probably had something to do with her finishing power and does not at all reflect on these fighters ability to end a fight in convincing fashion. Strolman brings a perplexing game plan into this fight as he repeatedly tries to tie Dilbrandt up only to spend the time defending himself for the most part. Dilbrandt sees the most success at striking range, but ditches this approach in favour of hugs as well. Hard to tell if fans enjoyed this fight or were just happy to see it end. WINNER: Dominic Dilbrandt (UD) 185lb - MAIN EVENT: Mikel Arteta vs Ibrahim Camara The main event was another clash of ranked fighters, with former Champion Ibrahim Camara attempting to make his case for another shot at the title. Mikel Arteta sits comfortably in the middle of the pack of hopeful challengers and a win over Camara would do wonders for his chances of facing Yes Man Sanchez. The opening stanza sees both men firing on all cylinders. Camara is the clear aggressor and Arteta is content to sit back, counter with precision and take his chances when they present themselves. When Camara begins to punish the legs with low kicks, Arteta seizes the opportunity for a takedown. Camara doesn’t plan on fighting this one out on the mats and manages to get back to standing and we’re into a bit of a clinch battle here. It is here that Camara starts to impose his will and lands repeated strikes on this inside. The body shots and head strikes take a quick toll on Arteta as he begins to tire. A vicious elbow from Camara has Arteta feeling touched and Ibrahim, sensing the finish, drops Mikel Arteta with a big uppercut. The ref jumps in to save Arteta as Camara rains down punches on his fallen opponent and this fight is over as quickly as it began. Case closed. WINNER: Ibrahim Camara t(KO)
