  1. doesn't sound like an exploit, but I don't think its workable. Remember, you can't take your fighters' money. Even with 9 guys working full time, you'll only get $360 a week to pass onto your gym or fighter, cause you get 10%. Since weekly fees for a single elite are about $2500, this is a no-go. Plus, a minor point: you can't close your account and open a new one, but maybe Mike would do it for you if you asked (big maybe)
  2. slightly for the punching, true, but I think it's about equal in value for defense. Mike mentioned that it depends what you're defending against. You'll rely more on MT for defense against kicks, elbows, and knees, and boxing against punches
  3. it's not all about the money. I believe Mike reduced the companies to one per player for game-play reasons. Whatever they were (before my time) I don't think he'll be so keen on reversing the idea
  4. I don't really have a problem with sparring-only gyms, but I also don't believe for a second that anyone has trouble making money with one if they're trying at all. As long as you match the amount you're paying for cleaning to the number of fighters you have, you're making almost total profit from each fighter. Gym equipment has to be replaced so infrequently, it's not a major cost. Especially if you don't need to keep it in top shape cause you're not using it too much anyway. The ONLY problem one can have is paying off the $1050 or so a week for the loan (only if you took the full 50k, which you don't need for a sparring gym. An intelligent owner would go for almost no loan - and have no financial problems at all. Since you pay per member, and charge per member, you can run on no loan from day one). So you need something like 25-35 guys to break even. Honestly, shouldn't be too hard. Pretty much any gym has to work harder than that, even if they want to keep high standards (I know. I selected each member of my gym and let them in individually. I also run my gym just about at cost [i actually lost money this past week cause I'm one member short of where I want to be]). I guess, a good gym with coaches MIGHT be able to turn a better profit with the limits on sparring-only gyms as they are, if the owner wants to charge more than he's providing, but you can just hire the cheapest coach possible right now to charge members whatever you want.
  5. I know you can't buy a 2nd company on the open market. But a while back, someone said they thought you could do it in a direct buy. Just want to make sure I can't do this, cause I'd love a 2nd gym, and though I don't really have a lot of cash, I think I could get supporters to fund me...
  6. why not? He wants guys in for the long haul, like you find in BJJ concepts (I think). He just feels wrestling is important enough that it deserves its own gym, as Bjj has. Man, LTD, you are like a company factory....
  7. It looks like mostly a sparring gym, with most of the fighters with at least one skill that is very high (many of them wrestling, as per the gym logo). It might be worth it for some people, even though the gym is filthy. Doesn't look too out of the ordinary. And I think the coaching shows that he's trying to get a godo gym going. I'd chalk this up to inexperience. Doesn't look like cheating to me...
  8. I REALLY REALLY don't like the sparring coach idea. It takes out an important part of the game where fighters spar with eachother, and would cause a total revamp of gyms that I feel is completely unneeded. Mike's idea is pretty good though. Here's another, based on what someone said: Right now, injuries don't really do anything. Noone cares about having to train for a week or 2 between fights. How about injuries affect training a bit, with more injury causing more of a loss. And give a chance to be injured during training, with more of a chance during sparring, which is kinda realistic. That way, if you spar every session, you're bound to get injured sometime, reducing training efficiency. And if you do get injured, and keep on sparring too much, you risk compounding it into a nasty injury, m aking your training much worse. EDIT: I also have nothing against sparring only gyms as they are. A lot of people have been picking up on the idea, and some of them, frankly, suck. It's a strategy that you have to make work like any other. I think there are better ways of making good gyms, and I, personally, took another route with my gym after the sparring-only craze kicked off.
  9. you can't. you'll just have to set the rules and hope for the best, i guess...
  10. since you're looking for ideas, how bout this: You've got 2 sessions of sparring for each skill. Why not make 1 open to everyone, and 1 for people with a level in that skill above a certain amount. Might help attract guys to your gym
  11. I think the point is that if you're set to bottom: a) you'll be more likely to pull guard as a takedown you won't waste time trying to get on top, but work from the bottom instead I've also seen more subs from the bottom, but that might just be what I've seen, and not reality
  12. There are lots of ways to make good gyms (thanks to certain limitations set by the game - kudos Mike). While LTD is looking for a specific gym, obviously that's not the only way. Your concept has been done before, but I don't think there's one in St Pete's. And I'm always up for something that makes St Pete's a better city (most of my fighters, and my gym, are there). So, all the best to you. I might even move one of my fighters out of my gym to yours. He's ok in my gym, but not reaping the full benefit, as my gym has a focus that isn't exactly where I see him going. I only put him there cause there were no other really good options. One question, though. Your guys are focused on one or two aspects of the game, which means they suck in the other stuff. Are they all sparring in all sessions? Cause then that kinda ruins the effect of one or two great partners by adding in a bunch of useless or abysmal guys. It's still great for $75, but my guy can afford the best.
  13. do you mean a gym that rakes in the cash? cause then you probably don't want a gym. If you mean one that gets up to speed quickly and is not just another run-of-the-mill gym, you need to pick a city with a specific need. It might be a really top-notch elite gym. Or maybe a cheap one. Or one for striking, etc. Find the need, and build the gym to satisfy it, and it will fill itself. Make sure to plan ahead how you're going to meet the need. Don't build it all at once, but take your time. But always make sure you're offering something, even if you're not built all the way up yet. Match prices to what you're offering. After a few weeks, you should be making more per week than you are spending. If you are, you're good. You'll make back all your money eventually. And don't go too near bankruptcy. Maybe some guys will leave your gym all of a sudden. Other than that, have fun with it
  14. well, there is one spot open in Spetsnaz. You just have to contact me in game with your fighters number to get it. i do it like this so only good fighters who fit in can get in.
  15. I don't think it goes away, but it's also probably one of the better bad traits you can have. Assuming you put in some training between fights, cuts won't matter unless there's a stoppage. However, 'cuts easily', like all things covers a range. If you have a really bad case, it might be a problem. I think you should wait and see. PS I have a guy with 'cuts easily' and have no intention of cutting him. Then again, I haven't cut anyone yet...
  16. The reservation for the last spot has been dropped. So there is one more spot. One. First worthy fighter gets it. PM me in-game
  17. As the previous poster said, he can make this work. However, if he DOES go all the way to bankruptcy without changing anything, I think he should be banned from starting another gym for a bit. Otherwise, he's paying money to make a better fighter, which kinda ruins the game if done too much. But Mike is already on this. Read the thread about businesses going bankrupt

    Gym record

I don't care about wins or losses outside the gym, but I'd like to see the wins/loss record of fighters while they're in my gym. But doing this would be like creating an alliance for every gym (maybe more), so while it might be relatively easy programming-wise, it might not be worth it server-wise
  19. The gym is now full, but we're considering expanding. Now accepting pleas and bribes from fighters desperately seeking entrance to hands-down the best gym in St Pete's
  20. Spetsnaz training camp has just been filled (counting reservations), but we're thinking of expanding. I can let you know in a few days You won't improve sub skills there though. Other than that, it's what you're looking for, and is clearly the best gym in St Pete's for fighters the training is suited for (if I say so myself).
  21. Only made 3 bets, won all of them. Made next to nothing betting on Sol over Marak. Made a better amount on my next bet, so I'm up $4.55 My last bet was on Nog to win. So, when that gets punched in, I'll be up another $5.87. Yay
  22. I have a fighter in St Pete's: Hyde "Wide" Load [ 25182 ] So far, I have rejected a number of contracts on the basis that he was not yet a viable fighter (I created him to help training - and didn't even do the sub-skills normally). For the past week or so, I've been working on making him able to actually stand a chance. I figure he'll be ready in about 2-3 weeks. So, I'll now accept a contract offer for him in the 180 lb range if it is decent, and if the org owner understands that I won't be accepting a fight for at least 3 weeks, maybe 4, depending on where he's holding (the actual fight date, not the acceptance).

    cutting weight

On the wiki page for cutting weight: http://www.mmatycoon.info/index.php?title=Cutting_weight it says you can cut to 205 from 226 with full energy. I believe that might be in error. I have a fighter at 222 pounds that the energy checker says can only cut to 206.8 at 100% energy http://mmatycoon.com/energychecker.php?fid=28175
