  3. you build armies in 5 or 6 different cities (maps), but it's not detailed at all. you recruit captains via mind control (they call it "domination") after you beat them up enough in combat, and then you assign them to a post. you can choose what some of the upgrades are (archers/spiked walls/etc), but you don't actually design anything. it would be a lot cooler if you could actually design the castles. i'm not big on LoR lore either (i've seen each movie once, but that's the extent of my fandom). it's still a fun game, but the repetitive nature makes it get dull before you finish it. i liked mad max a lot, i played that back when it first came out. i've never gotten into any of the FF games, but i'm not that big on pure rpg's. i actually worked in tech support for square enix for about 6 months when i was between jobs around 15 years ago lol. i finished shadow of war last night and sent it back to gamefly this morning. i'll play some more forza until they ship me assassin's creed or the new wolfenstein.
  4. Glengarry Glen Ross - i don't think i even need to tell you which scene lol https://youtu.be/xKzMd328bMw
  5. guardians of the galaxy: volume 2 - 8/10. good popcorn movie with some cool effects and good humor. not a movie, but i binge watched The Defenders on netflix (it's a limited 8 episode series, so it's basically a 6 hour movie) i'd give it a 7.5/10. i haven't watched any of the jessica jones, luke cage or iron fist series, but i watched season one of daredevil. i'm sure it's probably better if you've seen the other series or at least know about those characters, but i still enjoyed it.
  6. i miss the fight night series. i wish they would still be doing that instead of the ufc games. the striking was so much better, and the grappling in ufc games always sucks. it's just not a part of the sport that translates well into a videogame.
  7. 2k : micro transactions don't really ruin anything, because you can only buy skill points after unlocking them through playing the game. using real money i think you can get to like level 80 or so, but to be able to get any higher than that you have to actually play the game. the "road to 99", or whatever they call it, is a bit ridiculous though. it seems like it would take at least 1000 games played in order to get your player up to a 99 rating. my player is at level 90 after playing a season and a half in career mode, and maybe 20-or-so online games, but it's a sliding scale so it'll probably take 10 times longer to get from where i am to 99. i've NEVER liked playing basketball games online, because the latency makes it feel like playing in quicksand, so i don't really know how the online component compares to previous seasons, but the career mode is decent. yeah shadow of war is pretty similar to the first one (i stopped playing that one about half way through because i got bored with it). certain enemies drop loot (armor/swords/etc), so you can pick and choose the stuff that suits your playstyle, and then you can augment your gear with gems for different bonuses (damage, xp, etc). there are skill trees as well, but it's nothing too deep or complex, and no matter what you choose you'll always have the same basic skills/powers. you can't really make any builds that are drastically different from one another (like a sniper vs a tank, for example)
  8. i got an xbox one x when it came out, and these are the games i've played on it so far: forza 7 - 9/10. 4k at 60fps looks freakin amazing. it's buttery smooth. i prefer the open world of the forza horizon series, but for track racing it's definitely the best racing game on the market. nba 2k18 - 8/10. i was playing this on the regular xbox one before i got the x. the game runs a bit smoother (loading times are better, etc) on the x, and the graphics do look cleaner but it's not a night-and-day difference. i would expect next year to be a more noticeable difference, since they'll hopefully do new player scans with greater detail. online play in the series always feels laggy to me (the controls, not the visuals), but the career mode is good. middle earth: shadow of war - 8.5/10. beautiful game, from a visual standpoint. some pretty sweet executions/dismemberments. storyline is pretty good and the gameplay mechanics are well designed. taking over strongholds does involve a bit of grinding, but it doesn't really take away from the enjoyment.
  9. The Belko Experiment - 6.9/10 couldn't bring myself to bump it to a seven. decent popcorn gore-porn. it does have some good b and c-list actors, but the script is just average. one of those movies you don't regret watching, but know you'll never watch a second time.
  10. pretty much all of the fight scenes in The Protector (Tom Yum Goong) with Tony Jaa the scene in The Big Lebowski when they dump Donnie's ashes the street shootout in Heat the pool scene in Fast Times at Ridgemont High with Phoebe Cates the shootout in/above the catacombs in Rome in John Wick 2 the scene with the turkey baster in Don't Breathe
  11. by it's general definition, yes, i support equality for women.
  12. i liked winston a lot more after watching hard knocks. that kid's a great leader.
  13. why on earth would they sign a qb with zero experience in their system, before even giving hundley a chance?? this is his 3rd year there, and he's been in the qb room w/ rodgers (arguably the most talented qb to ever play the game) and mike mccarthy (one of the best qb head coaches in the game). kaepernick is better than a lot of backups in the nfl, but we haven't even seen what hundley is capable of yet. at the time of this writing, he's having a pretty solid first start.
  14. the edge of seventeen : 7.5/10 relatively predictable story, but good characters and woody harrelson had some great comic relief.
  15. I'm a big Packer fan, and would like to think i'm not a conceited dick I'm really curious to see how Hundley performs tomorrow, and have confidence he'll do pretty well. They just need to get their O-line healthy so he's not under constant pressure.
  16. my thoughts: if you need to pass a written test and performance evaluation for the safe operation of a car, in order to be licensed to operate one, then you should need to do the same to purchase/own firearms. if we don't allow civilians to own certain weapons-of-war, like grenades and rocket launchers, then why do we allow them to have assault rifles? I don't have a problem with handguns and hunting rifles or shotguns, but why would anyone need an AR15? sure, they're fun to shoot, but that's not a practical reason to let civilians have them. open-carry laws for rifles are bullshit. why the fuck would anyone need to walk around in public with a rifle on their shoulder?
  17. agents of mayhem - 7.5/10 fun game. it's an open-world 3rd person shooter (sorta). you play as 3 different agents at once (you can switch between them in-game, and there's like a dozen to choose from). the gameplay is pretty fun, since each agent has different moves/abilities, and it kinda feels like you're playing a rated R cartoon/comic book. it's tied to the saint's row / red faction world.
  18. i didn't say boxing isn't tiring, i said it's not as tiring as grappling. if you can't get your head around that, then i don't know what to tell you.
  19. packers win superbowl, rodgers gets league mvp.
