  1. Mediocre+ and are you serious? Getting hurt makes him better? That's a really ridiculous idea. I wouldn't care about getting subbed by someone with better BJJ but it shouldn't occur seconds after he gets floored by a shot. If the solution for stand up fighters is to simply never follow a hurt fighter down to finish the fight then this is a laughably unrealistic "sim" and if the solution is to have good BJJ then why not just make a submission fighter and spam takedowns non stop?

    gym fees

The owner of Aussie Action in Sydney abused the gym fee system and should not be trusted. I would advise any fighters in Sydney to switch to Beatdown Palace gym. It isn't much more expensive and it's overall a better gym with a much better owner. Damage, Inc. in Tokyo is expensive but it's a very good gym and the owner is great at communicating rate changes (and the reasons for them) well in advance so there are no surprises or scams. Big Woody's in Montreal is also a great gym with a great owner and same for Honor FC Proving Grounds in London. Overall I'd imagine most gym owners aren't abusing the fees system but the ones who do absolutely should be made public. For the gym owners out there: communication is key. Most managers aren't going to have an issue with rate increases so long as it goes towards improving the gym and they have some advance notification. There shouldn't be any concern in raising rates so long as it's done correctly.
  4. Bump because I want to know. I've seen too many fights where a guy is gassed a minute in yet it has no apparent impact on his work rate. We don't need the complete math behind it but it'd be nice to know if it affects fight performance or just the recovery time post fight.
  5. I've got three 1-0 fighters looking for sponsorships: Cam Ron Clifford Harris Bernard Freeman

    gym fees

After getting ripped off multiple times by shitty owners I finally learned my lesson. I just left all my gyms after the Thursday PM training and will re-join before Friday AM assuming the fees aren't outrageous. It sucks that I have to do it this way but it's the only method right now to be sure you won't be scammed. But yes it absolutely needs to be fixed because people are having fighters forced into full time work through no fault of their own and when gyms pull this it absolutely needs to be made public so people know who to avoid.
  7. So how long until ground and pound is a viable tactic or at least not completely broken and useless?
  8. Another Thursday, another four fighters hit by a last second rate increase with no warning or explanation.
  9. I have a couple fighters for anyone looking to round out their 155 and 265 divisions. London based 1-1 155'er Ronald Dregan: http://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilemanager.php?FID=8853 L.A. based 265'er Chad Butler: http://www.mmatycoon.com/fighterprofilemanager.php?FID=8927 Butler lost his debut mainly because it was my first fight and I didn't know what I was doing. He dominated most of the match before getting KO'd and probably could have ended it if I did a better job with his sliders.
  10. Both are correct spellings but you don't see the latter used in America.
  11. So much for predictions lol. That fight went pretty much as I expected it would, my guy didn't have any trouble getting the takedowns but his BJJ wasn't good enough to get a submission.
  12. Again, it's impossible to come up with a system that is unexploitable but to use it an excuse to simply not even try to improve the current situation is BS. Yes, changing the system so that gym fees can only be changed on Friday would still allow a very small, inactive group of players to be exploited for a small amount of money. Now contrast that to the current system where 100% of the games player base is vulnerable to being ripped off for huge sums by shady gym owners. I'd also like to know on average how many gym members managers haven't logged in the last seven days and their average bank balance. I really doubt it's anywhere near 20 per gym and most of them probably have less than $500 in the bank. I might be coming off as a dick here but I've been screwed a couple times now and I know of at least one other gym that tripled their rate right before fees were due with no warning to anyone. Having a fighter be forced into full time work because of a scummy owner is ridiculous.
  13. I don't have an issue with high gym fees because I see it as a way to limit gym membership to a select few top tier fighters so they can get more individual access to elite coaches instead of vying for time with 100 other people and only spar against other top tier fighters. If a new fighter wants to blow his entire bankroll on one week of elite coaching that's his business. The penalty for running out of money is clearly stated and effective money management is part of being a good manager. I do think it needs to be addressed with how gym fees are changed for existing members. I think allowing rate changes only on Fridays and not putting them into effect until the Thursday after is the best idea. It still allows exploitation of a small part of the user base (the ones who don't login but twice a month) but it's far better than the current system which allows for the exploitation of 100% of the user base. Also seeing as how two of my fighters got screwed by a gym when they joined, paid fees and then had the gym vanish the next day it'd be nice if there were someway to get refunds in those scenarios or maybe a way to check the overall financial health of the gyms.
