  1. I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that trying to be a clever dick and making generally shitty posts are not excused just because you do it in the name righteous fury. I'm getting pretty damn tired pretty damn fast of of all the White Knighting going on around here. I'm not for multi-accounts either, but believe it or not no matter how right you think you are there does come a time that your posts are just as negative and fucking pointless as those you strive so "valiantly" against. Learning when to shut the fuck up and not make an ass of yourself is a virtue I've found myself wishing many posters both here and in chat would learn.
  2. Thank you for clearing this up Mike. I think maybe you're right about the "notable users" thing. Perhaps the more important issue and better thing to list would be "Heavily Impacted Orgs" and "Notable Fighters Lost", that kind of thing. Are you insinuating that people might...<gasp>...Lie?
  3. To be fair I have played games that do not care. Many have claimed there was no specification originally.
  4. This is the kind of thing that should have a wiki page, or at least be a part of one. Once others contribute and fill in the list go put it in there. I would have killed for such a list before I made my first fighters. ; -)
  5. I think it's more a learning style thing. All the info being spread out over the wiki and neading to be looked at individually doesn't suit my learning style. I would have been much better served by a visual tutorial with a person basically lecturing on ALL the basics at one time so I could take it all in at once and connect it in my head. I doubt I am alone in that, so if no one has done it by the time I have my good computer back I will probably do it.
  6. I put the "wasn't against the rules" line in the Wiki page because I have heard it at least 3 times in the last few days. If I am wrong older members should correct me, that's how a Wiki works. There is even a discussion page for each wiki page for this very purpose. I guess MikeTycoon should settle the legality issue.
  7. Of all the people you could choose. One might think you don't get along with him or something. : -P
  8. I made a Wiki page for MultiGate. The wiki serves as a record of Tycoon's history as well as a tutorial, and this is certainly an event worth remembering. I mentioned PSU by name, but I don't mean to ridicule him by doing it, only to chronicle those involved. You should all go pretty it up and flesh it out. http://www.mmatycoon.info/index.php?title=MultiGate
  9. I was actually thinking a video tutorial on youtube would probably be the most useful learning tool. I lack a decent enough computer to make this happen at the moment though. :-(
  10. I'd like to address an issue I saw raised in this thread, as I think this may be a time the perspective of a newb could help. The question was something like "Why should newer players reap the benefits of older players' learning, and start with an advantage those older players didn't have when they began creating fighters". This is simply the nature of games like this. Over time the science and level of precision become better and better. That's just how it works. This knowledge will always be passed down to newer players, I have never seen exceptions in a community like this. This cycle has benefits to the older players too. As time goes by and more and more is known by more and more people you will continue to find yourself challenged. If you only had to worry about beating older players you would have a much smaller community to compete against, and would become set in your ways. Older players can learn in this way just as much. As new strategies are pioneered and refined new elements are added to the game. Simply put there will be more interesting things going on for you, and you will become bored less quickly than you might because of this sharing of information. Which leads me to the second question I noticed was raised. "Will this increase or decrease VIP buys, and thus revenue for the site?" I say it will increase them! By having the requisite information to progress on the learning curve freely available here on the forum and in the Wiki I say there is less of a chance for a player who would genuinely be interested in the game to simply give up after a short time out of frustration. These new players, having learned from you older players will be better able to become competent and successful managers in their own right, and will naturally want more slots. As stated above this will give you, the older player, more competition and will increase the pool of active players who could potentially innovate new strategies. My contention is that the community sharing info is a self feeding positive feedback loop of innovation and competitiveness. Also, I wish this thread had been up when I first joined and screwed up a couple fighters. :-/ Thanks to you guys for helping newbs out on behalf of all newbs on here.
  11. Wow man, you weren't kidding. That was some vicious GnP! I guess the thing I'm wondering most is how your opponent ended up with that record having no Wrestling and a White Belt. @_@ @Andy: Always nice to see a poor gameplan punished. What makes me like this game so much is that Slider Tactics really do determine the winner it seems. I'd appreciate it quite a bit if some of you older posters could link to some of the more memorable fights in Tycoon's history. I'm sure I'm not the only newb who could use some schooling about the history around here. You could be like UFC Unleashed helping us newbs catch up and know references to great fights.
  12. Ok, in the midst of Multigate getting everyone down I thought it might be a cool thread to have around where you can just post fights you're proud of, memorable fights from events, or fights you simply found interesting. It could be a nice place for people to brag, for recent big events to be discussed, and for newbs to learn about strategy. I'll start by babbling about how excited I am because I had my first ever fight yesterday and I WON! :-D http://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=49792 I knew going to the ground would probably be bad for me, as I only gave my guy the bare minimum when created for him to get the Blue Belt. My opponent's boxing was also good, and his punching probably better than mine so I knew my only chance was in the clinch. It was a bit discouraging to see my opponent had a Granite Chin, and I was scared to death when my guy got cut early on, then got taken down a couple times. My gameplan was solid though, and Jose executed it well. I was able to Clinch my opponent to death (the stats bar is actually kind of sick) and finally get the knockout in round three despite his chin! :-D I was very happy to get a W and a 100% fight rating at that for my first fight. I hope to see some cool fights and strategies in this thread in the future, and hear from a lot of you.
  13. Ah, I see. Glad to hear it's a bit more streamlined on VIP. I'll be getting as soon as I can, unfortunately Ohio sucks so I'm unemployed at the moment and can't justify spending any money online. :-( I can't wait until I can get it though, as everyone in the community has been very helpful and fun, and I really like the game. :-)
  14. Sorry for the double post, but I thought it better than creating a new thread for such a simple question, and related to my previous. Is there a way to see what Supp my fighter is taking at the moment to confirm I have him on the right thing, or do I just have to trust that I had him take the right thing last time I adjusted him, and that it went through without an intrawebs error? Also, I have a "14 Day Supply" of Energy Supp, and under possessions it is listed as "1" in my fighter's stock. Does this mean I can tell him to "take" it 14 times on different days? Or that I should? Or does he "take" it once and gets the benefit for the next 14 days? Or is the 14 Days just a sales gimmick and it works once? If so, does that mean each Supp only works for one day? The Supp system feels odd to me, but I'm not complaining to much since it adds the cool element of Supp companies to the game. (Though I must warn you from a game theory perspective you are going to eventually have MASSIVE conglomeration in that market even with the regional setup)
  15. I lurk Something Awful sometime. I saw they had taken over Rio and thought it would be fun to join them. Then I found out it was a kick ass game and I will buy VIP asap.
  16. Much thanks to both the both of you. I fear it is a far simpler system than I thought, and I have made myself look very silly. See you both around the game. :-)
  17. Hi, I have read the last 10 pages of this newb section, so sorry if these questions have been answered, but I tried to avoid that. I am a little confused by the in game time in relation to IRL time. I currently have my fighter training cardio on Tue, Thur, and Sat. Does this mean that he will do the training on those days IRL in my time, or in his regular work week? If it's in his time what is the ratio of time, and where can I see what the time/date is in my fighter's world? (He is based in Rio) It seems rather important I figure out the timing of this game so I can rest my fighter appropriately before his fights. Another newbish question I have is...where in the hell do I go to in the menus to actually make my fighter take his supplements I've purchased? I like this game, but I must say the interface is far from intuitive.
  18. This did it. Thanks! :-)
  19. Hi, just signed up here and created my first fighter. In trying to set his Tactics, I found that if I attempt to move the sliders for any of the options in the right hand column, it immediately snaps all the way to the left and is immobile after that. I am using the latest FireFox. Any idea what the trouble may be?
