Heartwarming stories

Just saw this article. I found a wallet with about $500 in once and we rang the guy up and got him to come meet us. He said "I'm guessing all the money's gone, right?" Nope, we said, through semi-gritted teeth :P

Anyway, this is a whole other level to that so double thumbs up from me to this guy

Honest taxi driver reaps rewards

Hundreds of Argentines have been donating to a taxi driver who found a bag with $32,500 (£21,600) in cash in his taxi and returned it to its owners.

The donations started after a website was set up in his honour calling for gestures of gratitude for what is seen as an extraordinary act of honesty.

So far the equivalent of $14,580 has been donated, according to the site.

Santiago Gori, a taxi driver in the coastal city of La Plata, found the money after driving an elderly couple.

They only went a short distance but when he dropped them off, they left a bag in the back of his taxi.

A few days later he managed to locate his passengers again and he returned the bag.

For Argentines used to corruption at all levels of society, this was an extraordinary story.

Two young advertising agency employees decided to set up a website to thank Mr Gori further for his exemplary behaviour.

Now thousands of people have accessed the site and have left hundreds of rewards and messages for Mr Gori.

One visitor offered to produce in his studio a song chosen by Mr Gori to kick-start a potential artistic career.

Another offered a snow-boarding lesson in Argentina's ski resort of Bariloche, while an Argentine abroad promised to bring back a second-hand GPS satellite receiver for his taxi on his return.

"Thank you", say many of the messages and one said it all: "I wish more people were like you."

For his part, Mr Gori seems a bit bemused. He said he only did what had to be done - and that he does not quite know what to do with all the things he has been offered.

Dude, it was all over the news several months back. The event happened long ago, but there was a new book update, a documentary or something along those lines. What don't you believe about the story?

I watched the documentary, it happened.

They went back again a few times after but he was more used to the wild by then and started changing how he acted with them before eventually not going back to them again

The story seems as real as 'The Real World'

I don't know what it is about all the filmography of the story and the pictures. They just seem so staged. I mean I'm sure it's a real story 'if they say it is' but I'm guessing it's mostly fabricated with about 25 percent truth.

They remain convinced that if they had shown Christian the fear they felt, the relationship would have been over and Christian would have become dangerous.

I am sorry I am very skeptical about a lot of media. This does seem like a very heartwarming story though. Very odd. But at least it didn't end like Grizzly Man.

Maybe he didn't back after this, but back ONE time, is enough..

Oblivious that he'll forgot, he's not an Elephant or a genius, but when he got back one time, was very cool :D

99,5% they wont back and probably would have attacked them

What about an Lion Hug? Seems to be very soft :D

Haha yeah. It might have worked out for these guys but I still think that they are morons for trying. They got lucky... The loin recognized them and wasn't hungry at the same time.

They went back to visit him a couple more times and he recognised them but wasn't that bothered. The last time they were there he sort of just wandered off so they didn't go back again.

As for it ending like Grizzly Man, one of the other lions that they looked after there did attack and kill one of the keepers. It's a good documentary, you should watch it.

http://www.elitefeet.com/the-legend-of-cli...s-toughest-race

Being from Australia I had to include this man. Cliff Young an absoulute legend. Not just for what he initially did but for the twist after the twist he did at the end. We used to hold an ultra-marathon event yearly in Australia. A running race from Sydney to Melbourne which is 800km or 540 miles or so. In 1983 it was the first year it was held. Professional athletes sponsored by nike and other companies lined up for the race. Out of nowhere this 61yr old farmer turns up in trackpants and gumboots and everyone just thought he was a spectator or relative of one of the competitors. When he collected his race number and put it on his shirt everyone told him he wouldn't be able to complete the race. Some were fearing he was going to hurt himself. Reporters noticed this and then interviewed him asking if he was crazy. He said that he used to round up the sheep on his farm on foot and truly beleived he could complete this race. When the race started all the pro's left him behind. People were making fun of the way he ran as it was a bit like a waddle. Usually this race takes 5-6 days to complete. Usually the athletes would run for 18 hours then sleep for 6. But Cliff Young didn't sleep he ran 24 hours a day. When reporters found out he ran through the whole first night without sleep they asked him if it was a strategy. He replied " I'm going to complete this race without any sleep" Turns out he won the race and set a new record at 61 YEARS OLD!! Legend and my hero. To find out the twist after he won the race you just need to go to the site for the rest of the story. What he does after he wins truly tells you how big of a man he is.
