Cf.99: Test Preview by Marky Mark

Twenty CF fighters are put to the Test on a dark April night as Kamppi Arena gathers in 6000 Jason wannabes for the battle of survival on Friday the 13th. Who are the unlucky ones? Who make their own luck? On this ominous night the main and co-main events are featuring four Heavyweight killers looking to swing their machetes while many other hungry beasts are stalking their prey in the undercard in what promises to be a frightfully exciting night. Let's go through the fight card of Test quickly and then it's time to run for cover! (Duck and Cover method is not recommended.)

155lbs

Castle Rock (6-2-0) vs. "Kokufuku" Hajime Susumu (15-10-0)

Fiiiiirst fight of the evening is contested at Lightweight as we have not one but two debutants facing each other here as Castle Rock and Hajime Susumu say hello. It's a very even matchup and anything can happen. Susumu has a grinding style which has helped him to win 10 decisions already but despite having a bit better Boxing skills with Remarkable over Superb I'd still expect Rock to be the more dangerous striker here. Rock has momentum going for him having won the last two of his fights but his morale is not the best at the moment. Kokufuku will be looking to get this to the ground where he has some advantage of Brown Belt in BJJ against Rock's Purple. He has shown he's capable of submitting people and he has also used his ground and pound effectively before. Rock on the other hand has fought black belts in his last two fights and come out as winner so he'll be confident in his sprawl and brawl style and does not panic when stuck in the bottom position on the ground. Rock is better of swinging, he's a versatile striker who may utilize dirty boxing in the clinch and perhaps drunken boxing at the after party depending of the outcome.

170lbs

Gunnbjorn Ulfsson (11-7-0) vs. "The Grim Reaper" Manny Calavera (5-9-1)

We move up to Welterweight and see Gunnbjorn Ulfsson taking on Manny Calavera. At first you would think there is a clear advantage of BJJ skills for Ulfsson as he's a Brown Belt and Calavera a Blue. But Ulfsson's Jits skills are concentrated more on the defensive part of the game. Ulfsson also has an edge in wrestling skills with his Remarkable Wrestling but again, no one has ever seen him try a takedown so unless he pulls out a rabbit from the hat having been training takedows they both will focus more on the striking aspect of the game with is totally fine for Calavera. The striking game is two sided, Calavera is an Elite Boxer while being very good in MT also. Ulfsson is a Sensational MT artist while being very good in Boxing also. Neither fighter is really a clinch fighter so we can expect a flurry of strikes from both guys, the Grim Reaper mostly using his hands and Ulfsson favouring more his kicking game. This will probably go to the judges after 15 minutes of crazy smashing.

155lbs

Juha "Kari" Tappio (10-10-0) vs. Matt "Myllyttäjä" Mylly (13-16-0)

Back to Lightweight as Juha Tappio and his creepy moustache will arrive to the cageside to meet Matt Mylly. Myllyttäjä does not care about moustaches, he will just want to beat... decision your ass! We learn that while we are talking about a man named Kari we are still talking about a man named Juha. Simple. Well... a bit confusing for a Finnish guy. But then again Juha/Kari is from Mantsala so I guess we should forgive him about that one. He will be making his Crashforce debut tonight and will be looking to leave the cage healthy. Or at least a winner. The Oulu decision machine Mylly will be preparing his millstones for a good old grinding fight. Both are good at taking people down and smash them on the ground with punches from all angles which I expect to happen also in this fight. Mylly has advantage in boxing and Tappio in MT but will the fight cover those areas that much remains to be seen. It is expected for at least Mylly to swing a lot but eventually this fight will be fought on the ground so let's see what happens.

155lbs

Urho "Ugi" Kukkamaa (12-12-0) vs. "The spartan" Emilio Viagra (15-8-0)

We stay at Lightweight and up next is another cracking matchup. Urho Kukkamaa will fight Emilio Viagra. Both guys are extremely good strikers while both have a significant advantage over each other in one department. Ugi's clinch game has made many a fighter's mom cry. Viagra will want to have nothing to do with Kukkamaa's elbows but with an Exceptional MT skills versus Strong can he avoid the clinch game? He may be able to do so with his Sensational Wrestling by taking this fight to the ground and utilize his hard earned Black Belt, though he rarely really goes for submissions preferring to lash out damage via GNP. Both guys have shown they can drop guys standing but it has to be noted Kukkamaa has never been knocked out so that gives him some additional confidence in exchanging strikes. He does really have to be alert of the takedowns attempts either by shooting or from the clinch as he does not want to be contesting his ground skills with The spartan. Ugi's main chances are end this while standing, on ground or via judges the favourite is Viagra and his diamond shaped blue pills (the big boys told me about the pills, otherwise I wouldn't have known...).

205lbs

Aarne "Big Beasty" Juutilainen (14-12-0) vs. Bob "Razor Sharp" Stroker (20-9-0)

In the Light Heavyweight we have two beasts take on each other for the second time. It is Aarne Juutilainen seeking retribution against the man always ready to scrap Bob Stroker. Now, it seems Big Beasty's (the Terror of Morocco was better) manager decided to abandon Aarne today, just one day before the fight. A fleeing manager is usually not a good thing for a fighter's confidence. But having jack shit on his bank account should be a good source of motivation for the Terror of Morocco to unleash hell on his opponent and bring home the money. Stroker is looking sad as well, but then again he always looks sad, even when he's happy. Maybe it's compassion for the pain his opponent is about to face. I'd think he will be eager to return into the cage and let it all go after losing his last two via submissions, having gone all of his 27 fights before those two without a sub loss. This is a fight that can go in all areas as both are very competitive everywhere. But let's just say that by default Juutilainen may think more of taking this down and Razor Sharp perhaps utilize his clinch game and kicks while both will certainly throw a lot of punches. Despite the biggest gap in skill is in wrestling in favour of Juutilainen, I see Stroker a slight favourite here, but only a slight.

185lbs

Hans Gruber (14-9-0) vs. "Black Russian" Antonio Kovalov (14-8-1)

Coming to the cage are Middleweights Hans Gruber and Antonio Kovalov. This is in fact a rematch, the first one fought at Cf.88 was won by Gruber. Gruber is a very versatile fighter, there's basically nothing he can't do which gives him an advantage of choosing alternative tactics and being more unpredictable. For being such successful in their last meeting I'd expect he still fancies his clinchwork combining knees and punches and using his Wonderful Wrestling for defensive purposes. Kovalov showed in that fight he can take Gruber down and it would seem the most obvious route to go for this fight also with some fine tuning in tactics. Last time they met he was a bit gun shy, so he could really be more active throwing leather since he can really take it as well, being built of concrete or something. For example in his last fight, his hands paid dividends. But the Black Russian would also be happy to get on top of Gruber and put some fist into the meat, erm... hit him I mean. This could be a really entertaining fight!

185lbs

"The Pole" Mike Horner (14-9-0) vs. Jesse Jalkalukko (12-9-0)

We stay at Middleweight as Mike Horner will be looking to take a W against our HOF member Jesse Jalkalukko. Now, I suppose the nickname Pole does not refer to a nationality as he's coming from Oulu. I leave the rest for your imagination. Anyway, Horner has not been very lucky in his last fights, he's 3-3. But those three losses include a title fight loss and two decision losses via majority and split decisions (Dragonov is smirking in the audience there) so the story could very well be different as well coming into this fight. Jalkalukko is on a roll now, he's won three straight and going strong. The strength for Jesse in this fight is his Sensational Wrestling and better Jits game. Like in the previous fight, here too Jalkalukko could utilize more of his striking as there is potential there but he tends to get the takedowns anyway without the striking distraction and start working his lay and pray artistry. Horner is the more confident striker and I'm sure he will want to put his hands on Jalkalukko frequently with his Sensational level of Boxing maybe mixed with some leg kicks but he must be aware of the incoming takedown, which I'm sure he is. But can he stop it? I suspect this fight will go to the judges but cannot guess who will take it.

155lbs

Dell Trotter (15-8-1) vs. Malvin "Parhaiten" Maldi (22-13-0)

Lightweight Dell Trotter is looking to get back to his winning ways at the expense of Malvin Maldi who has similar ideas himself. Both guys have serious skills as both are having Sensational Boxing, Exceptional Wrestling and Black Belts. Maldi has really used his BJJ skills having already submitted his opponents 14 times. While Trotter has now gotten also his own Black Belt I don't expect him to go at Parhaiten on the ground via subs but via his devastating ground and pound. That may pose some problem to Maldi as will he risk to be on the bottom looking for subs while hoping the big kabooms won't hit him? That makes gaining the top position essential in the ground game for both of them. Maldi has the advantage in the MT department and he may be looking to use the clinch as he successfully did in his last fight. Boxing wise the I'd give the advantage to Trotter as he's got some reach advantage and he's dropped some people on the standup too. Having granite chin usually doesn't hurt either. I think one way or another, this one will end before the full time.

265lbs Co Main Event

Chris "Wizard of Oz" Adebisi (11-5-0) vs. "The Boulder" Shatei Yoshida (7-3-0)

We go up to the Heavyweight for the Co Main Event of the evening which features the man strict of his kingdom's borders Chris Adebisi and the Nagasaki powerball Shatei Yoshida! As it seems to be the theme of the night, also this fight is two sided. Striker versus grappler... 203cm versus 150cm... Whaat?! It's gonna be very interesting to see how the reach difference plays out. Yes, it makes it easier for Adebisi to hit the Boulder but Yoshida isn't so interested in striking anyway in this case, instead looking to take the Wizard of Oz down which is aided by the fact that Adebisi is a lot taller than him. Adebisi is mostly a boxing specialist having had great success with his hands, 8 of his 11 victories having come via knockout. Countering and make the hits matter might be a good idea here for him. Yoshida has a good chin though so he can take some while trying to get the takedown. He has 6 (T)KO's in his 7 wins, all via taking guys down and pounding them senseless. Lately he has been addind some submissions into the mix as well, making him even more dangerous on the ground. Both guys are just 23 years old so they should have a great future ahead of them. This battle of young bucks should be a barnburner!

265lbs Main Event

"The Naturalist" Fedor Martinsson (12-4-0) vs. Arne "Paul" Riseman (12-6-1)

It's time for the Main Event of the evening! We have two magnificent Heavyweight strikers giving each other a tought test. From Gotherburg Sweden, occasionally living in wilderness with nice fairies and evil goblins depending on the smoke of the nature, please welcome Fedor Martinsson! And his opponent tonight is actually his countryman, a man who spends almost as much time in the Ferris wheel than in the gym but not quite, hailing from Vislanda Sweden, please welcome Arne Riseman! With a combined record of 18 (T)KO's in 24 wins and 0 submissions, we can make an educated guess this fight will be fought standing up. As it should be, these guys are seriously heavy hitters. Riseman boasts with Elite Boxing with Wonderful Muay Thai while Martisson combined his Exceptional Boxing with Sensational MT. For Riseman it is mainly his Boxing that he uses attacking wise but he uses it very effectively, especially his combinations which he is not afraid to try out. The Naturalist's game plans have usually been more variable, adding kicks and clinch game to his punching. Fedor will have a little edge in that he has a granite chin but as we all know especially with big boys that might not mean much. Regarding weight, Riseman comes into the fight 46lbs heavier than Martinsson, whether that has an effect we will have to wait and see. Nevertheless lots of striking action to be expected, any other than that would be a real surprise but hey sometimes it's good so shock people. Enjoy the fight and stay away of the hockey masked man tonight!

Cf.100: Titans Preview by Marky Mark

WOW!

Welcome to the preview of the 100th event of Crashforce, Cf.100: Titans. What a night it's gonna be! To reach 100 events is a great milestone for this humble organization, especially considering we're usually running at a pace of one event per week. So it's been a long road and lots of hard work. Before going ahead with the preview I'd like to say thank you to all you CF managers. Needless to say, without you guys there would be no org which is why in this biggest ever card of Crashforce 19 fighters out of 20 are from our own roster (unlike in many other orgs) which makes it more special. And for the one coming to visit, warm welcome to Maximus Scott and many thanks for accepting the challenge to take part in this event with us. Let's keep on having craaaaazy fun here, that's what it's all about!

The ballbusting CF wrecking crew have gained mass so for this special night we are arranging the battleground for Titans in not the usual Kamppi Arena but for the first time in the 10000 seater Kallio Dome! Also, to celebrate the occasion we are featuring a triple header main event! As the event poster illustrates, we will be having two title fights as the Middleweight and Light Heavyweight belts are to be defended tonight and a superfight as our special attraction. The rest of the card is filled with exciting fights as well so it just might be better to go through all the fights one by one ...right now!

Blade Brown (8-7-1) vs. Kalema "Ph" Kirunda (17-13-0)

We start with two Middleweights eager to put on a show as Blade Brown dukes it out with Kalema Kirunda. Both are very well equipped for a standup fight as Brown has Sensational Boxing and Exceptional MT while Kirunda is almost the same with Sensational/Wonderful. There's essentially no reach advantage but Brown is 15 pounds heavier than Ph. Kirunda does have wrestling and BJJ advantage but he is really not known for going for takedowns or playing the ground game for that matter. Brown certainly hopes the fight stays standing and he may also try to utilize knee and elbow strikes in the clinch. Kirunda's style has been to throw a lot of punches and kicks and see what happens. That's probably what the audience wants as well! One thing to note is that Kirunda has not been stopped via (T)KO in any of his 30 fights so he will step inside the cage feeling very confident though he's not really an efficient finisher, having gone the distance already 20 times in his career. Brown has dropped his opponent via (T)KO in 6 of his 8 wins but I can see this fight going to a decision.

265lbs

Nikola "Dragon Fang" Dragoslav (11-11-0) vs. Donnie "the skunk" Badge (8-12-0)

Next we jump up to the Heavyweight, Nikola Dragoslav will take on Donnie Badge. Badge's best chances in this fight is keep it standing as he's the more active striker of the two. Dragon Fang will take the skunk down which makes the time spent on striking exchanges so important. If Badge can keep it standing long enough and land enough strikes it may cancel out the time being on the ground, most likely on the bottom. While Dragoslav has a granite chin his style of lots of takedowns may have tired him out in the past and made him vulnerable to receiving hard shots which may be something the heavy handed Badge has a special interest in. Dragoslav has the better Wrestling with his Wonderful and he has shown that he's very capable of dishing out punishment via GNP or go for the submission if the proper chance comes by. While I'm saying Badge doesn't want to be on the ground in this one, he is still experienced in fighting on the ground and he has shown good heart so he may have some tricks in his sleeve here but I'd imagine it is his striking where he can make the real difference, especially if we go to the judges. Getting some morale boost wouldn't hurt him either.

205lbs

Ely Scott (16-11-0) vs. "The Mat Rat" Gaz Passmoor (12-14-0)

We have two very even and similar fighters in Ely Scott and Gaz Passmoor, and tonight they will meet in the cage in this Light Heavyweight bout. Gaz Passmoor has announced earlier that this will be the final fight of his career, so what a better place to end it than this mega event right here! We'd like to take this opportunity to thank the Mat Rat for his fights here. The matchup is fascinating as Scott is basically the younger version of Passmoor. They both are pretty good in the standup with Wonderful Boxing and Strong MT but those are mostly for defense (a combined record of 0 KO's) and really their bread and butter is the ground game. Passmoor has 8 submission victories in his name and Scott has 10. So I fully expect an early takedown by either guy and then they go to work. They both mix in GNP as well, creating chances for submissions. The battle for position is a key element here as even a little mistake can lead to a submission. Will Scott add Passmoor's name to his win column and climb up the ladder or will Passmoor leave the cage in style with the W?

155lbs

"Black" Jack Fargloom (6-1-0) vs. CockO SauruS (19-9-1)

In the Lightweight division the ladies' favourite "a physical specimen" CockO SauruS makes his debut tonight and he will be welcomed to Crashforce by a rising star Jack Fargloom. The striking game is quite even but both have definite advantages in this one. For SauruS it is the ground game, he has a Black Belt in BJJ against his opponent's Purple one. But to get into a position to submit or GNP, SauruS needs to get Black Jack to the ground. And that's where Fargloom's core strength is, he's an Elite level wrestler. Combining his clinchwork with his overall wrestling, Fargloom is good at beating guys in the clinch. But will he go for it this time as it presents the problem of a high level grappler pulling guard? He did it against submission magician Adams with a successful outcome, though he did get taken down a couple of times from the clinch. SauruS is in a good position striking wise as he can basically go for it freely as if he gets taken down then that's very okay. But if he gets stuck in the clinch he will be in a world of trouble. A very exciting fight indeed!

265lbs

Pekka "Punasolusprinkleri" Lipponen (15-6-0) vs. Pertti Apila (20-12-1)

Two beast Heavyweights meet up next, the former champion Pekka Lipponen battles the veteran Pertti Apila. While being an Exceptional Boxer himself, Lipponen probably wants to avoid exchanging too much strikes with Apila as that is where the devastating striker is at his best, Apila has 12 (T)KO's already in his resume. Also according to his nickname ("the red cell sprinkler" for those uneducated in the fine art of Finnish language) Punasolusprinkleri has lately had problem of sprinkling his own stuff out, so at some point of the fight it's a good idea to go for the takedown. Although Apila has some tendency to cut himself as well... Anyway Lipponen has the tools to take Apila down and being a Black Belt in BJJ he has the advantage there. Apila doesn't want to have anything to do with the ground game, his Brown Belt is solely for defense, as is his Exceptional Wrestling. Apila has the option to take this fight to the clinch though, where he is known to have dirty boxed the sin out of people but he is more than confident of putting on a boxing show as well. Lipponen is the one here that can plan his tactics with more variety having shown skills in multiple areas which is indicated also by his wins, 5 of each kind. This is a tough one to call but if I was staring at a barrell of a gun for it I'd probably (shit myself and) slip out name Lipponen.

205lbs

Paul "Thunder From Down Under" Irwin (13-4-0) vs. Luciano "The Talent" Bivar (6-3-0)

How ya goin'? Coming straight from the outback ...erm Sydney, the Australia native Paul Irwin has arrived to Cf. To see what he's all about is the American Luciano Bivar in this Light Heavyweight bout. While both fighters are having Wonderful Muay Thai and Remarkable Wrestling they both are specialized in opposite things. Irwin is a headhunter who throws a gazillion punches while Bivar works as a guitar master teaching people tapping (out). Yeah I know, that was bad. Anyway, Bivar's wrestling is designed for penetration, Irwin's wrestling is designed for not getting humped on the ground. Irwin has a massive advantage boxing wise with his Sensational Boxing and 62% KO ratio in his wins. Bivar has a massive advantage BJJ wise with his Brown Belt and 100% submission ratio in his wins. This fight will end either by Thunder From Down Under knocking Bivar out or The Talent submitting Irwin. With these two blokes, it's not going to the distance but I see Irwin a slight favourite here since Bivar's morale is not that good at the moment so there are some question marks over his performance. Maybe it matters maybe it won't. Either way, this fight should get the crowd going crazy while getting full as a boot. Reckon!

205lbs

Kalle "Kyy" Kolmiokuristus (24-16-0) vs. "Mean Mugging" John Malham (12-5-0)

We stay at Light Heavyweight as the grappling sensation Kalle Kolmiokuristus will be looking to submit a man that has never been submitted, a man from the mean streets of Liverpool, John Malham. It is almost inevitable you'll get taken down when you fight Kyy. You may see it coming but whoops you're already on the ground cursing how did this happen again. Well, Malham is one of the few that can argue against it. This is actually the second meeting between these two grim gentlemen and in the first one Malham amazingly didn't get taken down despite a lot of attempts and won it standing. This time I hear Mean Mugging Malham wants to take Kolmiokuristus down himself and submit him! Well... Kyy is a Black Belt (Malham is a Brown) and it has been 30 fights since someone has submitted him so maybe that's just crazy talk! Maybe... By default the fight is to be won striking for Malham and grappling for Kolmiokuristus. If either guy gets stuck into each other's strong point it may be all over right then.

205lbs Co Main Event Title Fight

Cookie Monster (18-5-1) (The Champion) vs. Simo Silakka (11-4-0)

It's time to see who will be walking out tonight with the Light Heavyweight Title Belt as Cookie Monster is set to defend his heavy metal against Simo Silakka. The young Silakka has been developing nicely and now he's turned into a beast. Every one of his nine Cf fights have ended in a KO, and it has usually been him who has walked out of the cage. If that's not entertaining, I don't know what is! Now he will get his well deserved chance to fight for the title. The reigning and defending champion Monster is cast in the same mold as Silakka. He is a knockout machine and his KO ratio in his wins is a whoopping ...94.4%!! We shall not discuss about the ground aspect as I would be stunned if this fight ever got to the ground. Silakka enjoyes a slight reach advantage and some edge with his Sensational Muay Thai over Monster's Exceptional MT and he does throw his kicks very frequently (and very accurately) which Monster really doesn't. But maybe Monster has recognized this and trained well for that aspect of the game as they've had plenty of time to prepare for this fight. Cookie Monster's advantage is his deadly Elite level Boxing against the Exceptional of Silakka's. I'm already biting my fingernails for this one! And a Twix chocolate bar. Shit, this used to be called Raider but they changed the name, what the hell... Neither guy really utilizes clinch that much as they got so much power in their hands (or legs) that usually the fight is over before the first intermission. And that's what I predict for this fight also, it probably ends in the first round.

170lbs Co Main Event Superfight

Rocky Mercurius (16-3-0) (Crashforce Welterweight Champion) vs. Maximus Scott (19-5-0) (Vicious Fights Welterweight Champion)

Noooooow! It is time for the two world class Welterweights and champions in their orgs to meet each other in the cage as our 170lbs kingpin with a 10 fight win streak Rocky Mercurius will battle Vicious WW champion Maximus Scott! The guys are very evenly matched here, Mercurius has a bit of an advantage with his Black Belt versus Brown of Scott's but then again he's not really known for going for submissions. Scott is neither, he uses his ground skills mostly for defense and I'd think he will try to concentrate his efforts to controlling his opponent this time it if hits the ground and possibly mix a little bit of GNP. Mercurius likes to be active and use mostly ground and pound as well. While both are equally Sensational in Boxing and Wrestling, the slight edge in Muay Thai is for Scott. His kicks are devastating and he goes for every part of the body you can imagine. Okay, leave the balls-and-pecker shots out of it, you masochists! I should have guessed... While Scott throws a lot of strikes Mercurius usually throws even more and that's a lot, especially head shots. As both fighters are highly skilled in all areas and both guys can take a lot of punishment without going down so it is hard to predict what will happen but I'd say this will go to the judges and the one with better hits will take it. But, I reserve a chance for a later round surprise when the guys are tired as this fight is scheduled for 5 rounds instead of 3!

185lbs Main Event Title Fight

"Global Killer" Anabol Asteroid (26-10-1) (The Champion) vs. Pentti Hirvonen (20-12-0)

Let's get ready to rumble! The magnificent fight night ends with a magnificent Middleweight Title fight as the BJJ grand master Pentti Hirvonen challenges Anabol Asteroid for the title. This fight is clearly two sided. Hirvonen needs to get this to the ground, if he doesn't he will face a serious hazard to his health as Global Killer will show no mercy and will send him to orbit. But, if it hits the ground Asteroid is in bad bad trouble. Hirvonen's ground game is top of the food chain combining excellent ground and pound with his Red Belt in BJJ that demands respect. It is Asteroid's striking game that also demand respect, the man already has 18 (T)KO's to his name. He took the title at Cf.65, has defended it 6 times and is on a 9 fight win streak. His chin is unreal so he can use his massive KO power with great confidence. He might mix in some clinchwork but there's the chance of Hirvonen going for a takedown or pull guard so whether that is a usable tactics remains to be seen. The key here is certainly the Exceptional Wrestling of Hirvonen versus Wonderful of Asteroid. Hirvonen's takedowns currently have 45% success rate which is quite high and that is exactly what he needs. But he most likely needs to mix it up first with strikes to get the opportunity for a takedown and that's okay if you have a death wish. Then again he might get it in the first try in the first minute which makes this game so wonderful. Have a great fight night! I'm off to watch the fights with two ridiculously beautiful girls who will be compensated properly come the end of the night.

Cf.101: Victim Preview by Marky Mark

Alright people! I guess most of us have now recovered from the 100th event hangover (well... Hirvonen might still be partying with his new shiny belt, congrats on the massive victory) so it's time to see what's up next. While I'm thinking something clever to say for starters I just noticed that someone has really taken an effort to vote down most of my previews posted in the forums. Don't know what that's all about, maybe these previews really are THAT BAD :D Well anyway, for the Cf.101 Victim we return to the battle tested Kamppi Arena which will be populated by 6000 beautiful, intelligent and extremely attractive Cf fans, and me. The Heavyweight Title is on the line tonight as well as many highly anticipated matchups and since there's no police around, there will be Victims! We have a nice selection of fights from every weight class tonight so to have a look why don't we just start scrolling down.

Paris Rozario (10-5-2) vs. Geraldo "couch potato" Higgins (5-9-0)

We begin our wild night with a Lightweight bout between Paris Rozario and Geraldo Higgins. Couch potato is really wondering where his manager is, it seems like he has vanished from the land of Tycoon. Now, I'm not blaming anyone but I remember a bloke named Paris being involved in a sort of kidnapping themed activities in the mythology books. Again, I'm not insinuating anything but you know... While Boxing is pretty even for these guys, Paris Rozario enjoys an edge in the Muay Thai department, notably in the clinch. That's the place Higgins will want to avoid at all cost as Rozario's elbows can ruin anybody's day. Higgins' advantage in this fight is the Jits game with his attacking Brown Belt against a defensive Purple Belt. Higgins has pretty good takedowns and has already submitted his way to victory 4 times in his 5 wins. Rozario's overall Wrestling with Superb skill level is a bit better than Higgins' so he could be able to stop the takedown attempts that are coming and seal the deal with his striking efforts.

170lbs

"Slick Willy" Owen William (3-7-0) vs. Mercutio Benvolio (11-9-0)

The first one of our two Welterweight fights for tonight is Owen William versus Mercutio Benvolio. Slick Willy has been quite successful in his takedown attempts with 44% success rate, though his ratio's been boosted somewhat by the takedown carousel of Mecier fight. Anyway it might be that if the fight hits the ground William in the more comfortable grappler here and it is his job to get it there as there will be no takedowns coming from Benvolio's part. Ground fighting may be a good idea for William also in order to not having to take a hundred kicks from the Sensational Muay Thai man Benvolio. William has better boxing level with his Superb Boxing against Benvolio's Strong but Benvolio has usually been the more active/aggressive striker. At some point it is believed Benvolio will try to use his MT to dominate in the clinch and throw elbows with reckless abandon. William actually has great elbows himself though he's not used them that much, also clinching in this instance would provide William another route to try to force this into a ground fight.

Nikolay Grigoriev (18-7-0) vs. "Milla Magia" Erik Bajramaj (7-6-0)

In this Light Heavyweight bout Nikolay Grigoriev will be looking to out grapple the grappler Erik Bajramaj. In his last outing Grigoriev had a quick and slick armbar victory against a talented grappler Ely Scott which gives him confidence he can do the same here against another BJJ Brown Belt, Milla Magia. Bajramaj is more that willing to engage in a ground fight but in this one he might consider trusting his standup skills more and unleashing his potential there also to mix it up. The old school Grigoriev is no stranger to striking game and can take it but in this one I would expect him to focus on getting it to the ground and work from there, putting in some good ground and pound and look for submission opportunities while doing it. I would think Bajramaj will want to come out aggressive and look for a finish as he's really not very good friends with the judges having gone 1-5 with the decisions and the Vladivostok native Grigoriev has won most of his decisioned fights. This fight is a potential candidate for the submission of the fight award so let's see it this end with someone tapping or passing out.

Boby "Beatdown" Lee (17-8-0) vs. "Vellu" Veli Pirinen (9-7-0)

We have two CF debutants in this event and the first one of them is Boby Lee who steps into the cage looking to give a Beatdown and finish Veli Pirinen. To finish Vellu is a tough task though. And to be precise, no one has managed to get it done yet. I really like this fight as there are so many ways this could go. For Lee his main weapons certainly are his powerful hands that have brought him 8 (T)KO victories. For Vellu it is advisable to use a lot of head movement here as Beatdown's style is to punch you in the head, punch you in the head... and so on. Lee has also demonstrated a lively takedown game to create some variety and mainly to score points. He's been exceptionally good in winning decision fights, 9 out of 11 to be exact. Pirinen is not scared to get taken down though, he's a Brown Belt in Jits and shown he can submit people if that's how it's gonna be. But his main strength is his versatile striking, his kicks might be a key factor here and basically just to answer strike to strike as his chin is really good. Black eyes guaranteed.

"The President" Buer Eremiel (12-7-0) vs. Yourn Rotterdam Jr (3-1-0)

Now, if you didn't know Vatican has a president, you do now. That's Buer Eremiel I'm talkin' about and he will be struttin' his stuff to the cageside to meet the second CF debutant of the night, Yourn Rotterdam Jr! And no, Rotterdam Jr's hometown is not Rotterdam, it is Amsterdam. But if he was from Rotterdam, would he then be called Amsterdam Jr? Beats me. Yourn has been on a strict diet and this will be his first fight at Light Heavyweight after his four career fights as a Heavyweight. He is coming into this fight as heavy as you can get. Will all that 225 pounds and then some add power to his already lethal hands? His latest fight lasted all of 5 seconds and all his three wins so far have come via (T)KO. Even though he is a very well rounded fighter we have not yet seen him in allround action as his Sensational Boxing has been the dominating aspect in his tactics up until now. For the Sensational MT artist Eremiel the two key things in this fight are his kicks and clinchwork. The last two fights of his (wins) have ended via devastating high kicks that have left his opponents trying to catch the imaginary butterflies. In the clinch Eremiel's elbows are scary as in his fights the referee has stopped the fight 7(!) times as his opponents have been too badly cut. This should be a real cracker and I'd think this will be decided standing up before the 15 minutes time limit is over.

Dexter Morgan (18-8-0) vs. Lassi Lambada (7-5-0)

The next fight will be contested in the Middleweight as Dexter Morgan and Lassi Lambada will duke it out. The highly skilled Lambada is looking to get his third straight win while his equally highly skilled counterpart Dexter Morgan is coming off a loss but then again it was against Pentti Hirvonen who is now the reigning champion. The guys are very even skill wise, both are Exceptional Wrestlers with Brown Belts in Jits. Morgan is slightly better in MT but then again Lambada is in Boxing. If I had to set roles in this fight I'd say Morgan will be the one looking more to strike as he has an excellent kicking technique which Lambada has not displayed and more importantly a 22cm (no, not that!) reach advantage which I'm sure he will look to use for his gain. Lambada's takedowns are good and he can do damage via ground and pound when he gets on top, his ground control game is good as well. Both fighters like to wander into the clinch every now and then but their clinch tactics are very different, Morgan fancies his knees and Lambada is well schooled in dirty boxing. While Morgan comes in as a favourite here this can really go either way and how they will get there remains to be seen.

Demian Silva (15-9-1) vs. D C "Don't Care" Jackson (13-6-0)

Demian Silva will be taking on D C Jackson in the Light Heavyweight and it's going to be a two sided fight. Jackson has good KO power and he will throw hands in hopes of landing the good one but evidently he will take you down and start pounding while also mixing in some submission attempts. Silva has been on a very good form lately, combining his Remarkable Boxing and Exceptional MT. He doesn't throw that much punches but when he does and it hits, you're in danger of being knocked out. Silva's MT skills are much better than his opponents and I'm sure leg kicks are coming in here. Also one option for him is to attack in the clinch with knees and elbows but he may then be more vulnerable to his opponent's superior wrestling skills. Jackson is a Sensational talent in Wrestling and he has an extraordinary high success ratio in shoot takedowns with 63%. But in the clinch he has had some trouble to get it down to the mat so I expect early shots from Jackson and let's see if Demian Silva can stop them.

"Pistol" Pete Palahnuik (7-0-0) vs. "The Russian Experiment" Marco Dragonov (11-2-0)

We drop down to Middleweight and what a fight it's gonna be! I'm already drooling over this. The undefeated Pete Palahnuik will put his zero on the line against the mean man from Moscow, Marco Dragonov. Pistol Pete has been on an upward spiral dispatching all his foes trusting his multifaceted work in the cage highlighted by his Sensational Boxing. Dragonov is a very similar fighter in terms of that both are aged 25, have already had good success, are developing at a good rate and are near the top at 185. The Russian Experiment's sole loss in Cf is against the former champ Asteroid in a fight that went to a decision. While Dragonov's boxing is perhaps not quite at the same level as Palahnuik's he more than makes it up with his Exceptional Muay Thai skills, especially in the clinch game where he is very aggressive. He throws every kind of strikes in the clinch which many times have overwhelmed his opponent and Palahnuik must be careful about it in order to be successful. Dragonov's chin is excellent but can Palahnuik pick him apart striking from the distance? Interestingly both fighters have had split and majority decisions in Crashforce (tight fights in Cf you know ;)) and they have both won them all, so it makes me wonder what's gonna happen if we go to the judges this time as well?

265lbs Co Main Event

"The Atomic Butt Drop" Marko Huntti (16-5-1) vs. Keijo Richards (14-9-0)

Yay! It's Co Main Event time and boy we got a showdown here! Two quick Heavyweights collide here as Marko Huntti and Keijo Richards share time together in the cage. And by quick I mean they are usually very quick to hit the shower and put on a fancy suit for the after party celebrations after a first round knockout win. Huntti likes simplicity, he just comes in and throws wicked punches, either from the distance or from the clinch. 14 times out of his 16 wins this tactic has brought him a (T)KO win. He is also a man with a few words, as he has shown with his superb mic skills. While Richards' style is somewhat more diverse the end result has usually been the same, he has 14 wins in total and 12 of them have come via knockout. He does have advantage in his ground skills, mainly with GNP, his Brown Belt is mostly defensive. The problem may be that his Exceptional Wrestling has also been mainly used for defensive purposes so will he be able to use his ground skills in this fight as Huntti will not go for the takedown and Richards has mainly pulled guard in order to get it down. Of course, he may have trained takedowns extensively for this fight, who knows. But for sure Richards's got the reach advantage and is an excellent striker himself so maybe such things are not needed. What ever happens I don't see this going to the full time. KO of the night is the more likely result.

265lbs Main Event Title Fight

Jonny "The Angel" Victorio (17-5-0) (The Champion) vs. Mieczyslaw " No-Nickname" Grabowski (15-6-1)

The speakers start to blast out the groovy Tupac song as the Danish challenger enters the cageside, soon to be followed by the ominous Angel of Massive Attack for the American Italian champion. And so, finally we get to the last fight of the night, the Main Event! The Heavyweight Title is on the line as angry Jonny Victorio will try to torpedo Mieczyslaw Grabowski's title aspirations. Why is the Angel angry then? Well he's taken a couple of superfights lately and got beaten before he really even got started. For his defense though his opponents were more highly skilled and basically absolute killers in those short notice fights but he remains angry nevertheless. Now Jonny is looking for retribution and No-Nickname is the unlucky one who happened to walk in! The Vigersted native Grabowski is actually in an excellent form, he has won 7 of his last 8 and has earned a chance to take the belt away from the Angel. 6 of those 7 wins have seen Mieczyslaw put his opponent's lights out with his unpredictable style of combining different elements into a catastrophic result for his opponent. He can stop you many ways, whether it's punches, high kicks, dirty boxing or taking you down and raining down heavy ground and pound. Victorio on the other hand is really a man who does not care for decisions, he has fought 22 times and only 2 of those have gone the distance. Tonight will be his sixth title defense but how has the latest loss affected him? Or has it? Let's fight and find out!
