Cf.81: Lucky Preview by Kurt Hustle

December 16th see's Crashforce return to the 6000 seat Kamppi Arena in Helsinki for Cf.81: Lucky. With a great line up of fights all leading to a huge clash for the Welterweight title in the Main Event lets get right into the action!

170lbs

Dean "Mr. Nipple" Fay (5-5-0) vs. Alan Mecier (7-4-0)

The night begins at Welterweight with a fight between very evenly matched fighters. Both have the skill to end this fight and despite having very good stand up skills they both seem to prefer to finish fights on the ground. If that is the case here then Fay has the advantage of having a better BJJ belt (Brown vs. Purple) but Mecier has the stand up game to end it on the feet and the Wrestling to score the first takedown or to keep it upright if he chooses which may give him a slight advantage but it's a very even fight and so hard to call.

155lbs

"El Toroo" Eskobar Andersson (10-6-0) vs. Matt "Myllyttäjä" Mylly (11-14-0)

Two FinnFighter alliance mates go head to head here and while Mylly may have the better stats its Andersson who has the better fight record. There isn't really much in the stats except for Muay Thai there Andersson has a huge advantage which may well be the deciding factor. Both fighters have had a lot of problems finishing fights, combined they have been to the judges a massive 28 times in their careers and this one may well head the same way, what I am sure of though is that if it does go all 3 rounds they will be exciting round!

155lbs

Nomi "Sissy" Mae (8-8-0) vs. Brad "The Technician" Ryan (18-14-0)

This one is looking like a real ground battle. It's a rematch form Cf.73 and on that occasion Ryan came away with the win after a hard fought fight went to the judges which went in his favor. Mae will want revenge here but can he get it? Both fighters have Brown belts and that is their primary weapon for finishing fights with. Ryan has secured a massive 14 wins via submission thus far in his career and it may well be that extra experience that carries him to the win but Mae isn't just going to roll over and let him get a second win over him. Mae's Stand Up has improved since the first fight and he will want to use it to better effect this time around while also utilizing his better Wrestling but Ryan has made some improvements to his own game too so as far as I am concerned its too close to call!

185lbs

Lassi Lambada (5-3-0) vs. "Pistol" Pete Palahniuk (3-0-0)

Hard to tell where this fight is going to take place, Both fights have excellent stand up and ground skills and can take this fight anywhere. Lambada has the better BJJ belt but is yet to use it to any great degree, he has used his stand up to finish fights in the past scoring all his wins via TKO's. Palahniuk is yet to end a fight inside the time limit but he is undefeated and knows how to outwork his opponents but that may be hard to do against Lambada given his skills in both Boxing and the Clinch as well as his primary skills on the ground. A worry for Lambada though is he comes in off the back of a loss which may mess with his head a little, but on the other hand it may well motivate him to get back on the winning trail too. This one may well go to the judges where it will be anyone's guess who takes it, it will all depend where the fights game plan goes and who can best execute it inside the cage.

205lbs

Carl "The Fightmare" Weathers (11-7-0) vs. Simo Silakka (7-4-0)

Weathers comes into this fight off the back of 2 wins in a row while Silakka comes in to this fight off the back of getting KO'ed in his last 2 fights and he may well be in danger of it happening again if he is not careful! Weathers has World Class Boxing and plenty of TKO and KO's under his belt which may prove decisive. Silakka has a rep for finish fights with a single Punch at any time during a fight but recently he has found himself on the receiving end of such treatment and will be keen to avoid it happening here. He does have better Wresting and BJJ but doesn't seem to use it as much as he may well do but he also has excellent Muay Thai and if he can get a Clinch he can avoid getting hammered by his opponents superior Boxing. Weathers comes in at the moment with pretty low moral which could hurt him if nothing is done about it before the fight, not sure if he has problems at home but something needs to change or his recent good work could be undone in this one fight.

170lbs

"Deathperado" Adrian Desper (7-6-0) vs. Keke "Hammer" Pummel (6-4-0)

This fight is going to be interesting, it's a very dedicated Boxer vs. an excellent all rounder. Desper is the all rounder, he has shown he can finish fights on the feet or ground with his Wonderful Boxing and BJJ Brown belt and take makes him a very scary fighter to face for anyone. Pummel has lived up to his name, he is a World Class Boxer and used it to pummel his opponents on his way to some good victories, it will take all his skill to do that to Desper though. With Superb Wrestling he is at a disadvantage compared to his opponents Remarkable and he just has a Blue belt compared to the Brown I mentioned earlier. Its all going to depend on if this one is kept on the feet, if it is then Pummel has an excellent chance of taking the fight but if it goes to the floor then realistically there is only one winner and that's Desper.

170lbs

"The Dodgy Uncle" Alun James (19-8-0) vs. Clint "The Cowboy" Fredriksson (18-9-1)

The main card begins at Welterweight and its so hard to call. Both fighters are evenly matched on the feet, they have Wonderful Boxing and Strong Muay Thai but its in Wrestling and BJJ that the difference could be made. James has Exceptional Wrestling coupled with a Black belt while Fredriksson has Wonderful/Purple belt putting him at a big disadvantage. The surprising thing for these two fighters is that they seem to have trouble finishing fights, the majority of their wins have come from the judges which will give both a good dose of confidence that neither one has that killer streak in them and can be out pointed, the thing is thinking that your opponent hasn't got what it takes to finish you is what normally does you in! This one will likely come down to who has the better game plan and who can execute it the best, their skills are too close to really give one an outright advantage, although if this goes to ground then you have to worry for Fredriksson. The random in all of this is their hiddens, and looking at their previous ToTT's the only inclination of those is that James has a Granite Chin which may tip things in his favor since Fredriksson's only real chance of finishing this fight inside the time limit is to score a TKO or KO as it is very unlikely he will be able to, or even attempt to, submit James given their ground skill difference. This one scream's decision to me but who it goes in favor of is anyone's guess!

155lbs

Keni "NeoNinja" Susi (15-12-0) vs. Dell Trotter (13-6-0)

This one looks like a classic Stand-N-Bang vs. Submission specialist clash. Susi has a Black belt in BJJ and 14 submissions under his belt where as Trotter has World Class Boxing and 8 (T)KO victories. Their Wrestling is even, both have Exceptional there and it may be that which gives Trotter the advantage in this one, with his superior Boxing he will be looking to keep this one upright so he can use it rather then get caught up in a dangerous ground battle, he will be wondering though if he can even KO Susi who has yet to be knocked out in a fight or even stopped via a TKO thanks to his Granite Chin. Susi has also shown he can back up his toughness and get a sub against anyone regardless of their BJJ belt. Trotter has brown belt but Susi subbed a fellow Black belt in his last fight so that will give him a lot of confidence that he will be able to end this one if it does go to the ground, its just getting it there which is the problem! All fights start on the feet and with both having equally good Wrestling he is the one who has to take the fight to the ground, Trotter is not just going to lay down for him, but his chin is up to serious punishment and that will give him confidence that all he needs is one sip from his opponent to take advantage of and in a 15 minute fight there is a lot of opportunity to slip up in! Trotter for his part will be looking to use what brought him to this point, namely his World Class Boxing and if he can't finish Susi he will at least be looking to score enough points with his hands to take a win via the judges. Whatever the outcome this one is looking like a serious Fight of the Night contender!

205lbs

Odin "Óðinn" Fredriksson (16-7-0) vs. Demian Silva (12-8-1)

Fredriksson comes in with a big Boxing and Wrestling advantage but that doesn't meant this one is a sure thing for him. Silva has shown he is a dangerous fighter to be in a cage with, his feet can be lethal as can his hands if you are not ready for them. Fredriksson is one of those all round fighters who you just hate to fight however, he has everything you need to win both on the outside and in the Clinch as well as on the ground and that makes him a very dangerous guy to get in a fight with. The unknown here is where he will choose to try and fight this one, both guys have a Brown belt at BJJ so that's a danger should he want to take the fight down using his superior Wrestling skills but if he wants to Clinch then Silva has better Muay Thai and is a dangerous guy there too. On the outside Fredriksson could use his superior Boxing but he would have to watch for the kicks of Silva who has ended several fights with a swift head kick. Its fights like these which are so exciting to watch, every advantage one has is countered by the other fighter and it will likely be down to who has the better game plan between the two managers on who takes the fight come the end. Whatever the result there will be one winner for sure and that will be the fans watching these two warriors battling.

170lbs. Main Event

Rocky Mercurius (12-3-0) (Champ) vs. Chris "The Inverse Midas" Herzog (16-8-0)

Main Event of the night comes in the Welterweight division and is a title rematch from Cf.78 where Mercurius got the win via a split decision, prompting this rematch now. It's going to be interesting to see if the fighters have changed their game plans from that first fight or if they are both going to look to use what worked before just better! Herzog is at a stand up and Wrestling disadvantage but he was during the last fight too so that won't worry him too much as he was able to score several takedowns and look for submissions which may well be what he is looking to do again but it's a dangerous game to play as Mercurius showed in the last fight when he used his Wrestling really well to score a lot of GnP and score points which may have just won him the fight. Stand up is something both fighters will want to tighten up this time around too, in the last fight there were a lot of missed shots thrown by both fighters and it may well be a case of he who scores the most strikes this time around takes the victory. I can't tell you how exciting this fight is shaping up to be, having read through the fight commentary for the last fight it shows why this fight was given a redo and if this one is half as exciting as the last then it is shaping up to be a cracker!

Cf.82: Christmas Chaos Preview by Kurt Hustle

Christmas is just around the corner and Crashforce have the present everyone is looking for. December 23rd will see the 6000 seat Kamppi Arena packed with fans for Cf.82 Christmas Chaos, an event not to be missed as 2 titles will be defended as well as a host of other top fights so lets get right into the preview.

185lbs

Chris Crocker (9-8-0) vs. "Nasty" Nate Barker (6-4-0)

Opening bout comes at Middleweight and should be a real treat for those who like seeing men punching each other in the face. Both fighters have excellent Boxing and a host of (T)KO wins between them, they have both also been (T)KO'ed several times which means its anyone's to take. Barker has the better Boxing but very inferior Muay Thai which will give Crocker hope but his confidence is a little down at the moment although he can sort that by fight time hopefully. Either way this should be a great stand up battle to open the show.

265lbs

Erik "Ej" Jones (7-3-0) vs. Arne "Paul" Riseman (8-6-1)

Jones is making his Cf debut here and will want to make a winning start while Riseman is coming off 2 losses so wants to get back to winning ways. Stats wise this one is very even, Jones has a slight ground advantage while Riseman has a slight Boxing advantage but really this could go either way it all just depends who can put their skill advantage to the best use which may well favor Riseman as the fight starts on the feet where he will want to fight it but it only takes one mistake for trouble to start so he will have to be careful. Jones has submitted people in the past and may well look to do so again but the Judges may well have to call this one.

155lbs

Reiska Rakennusmies (12-6-0) vs. Sakari Watts (5-4-0)

Logic would say that Watts is the favorite for this one, he has a slight Boxing/Wrestling and very big Muay Thai advantage over Rakennusmies but he has also lost his last 2 fights coming into this one where as Rakennusmies comes in off the back of a debut win in Cf. Watts will still be favorite in the stand up but he has had a little trouble finishing fights and with the BJJ so even this is another fight which I can see going the distance and when its in the judges hands its anyone's guess. Rakennusmies is high on confidence but he will have to fight above his skill to get the finish here.

185lbs

Nixon "Tweed" Red (7-6-0) vs. Hans Gruber (11-8-0)

The only thing for sure in this one is for an exciting fight! Both fighters are evenly matched except for a very slight advantage that Red has in Boxing (Exceptional vs. Wonderful). Gruber has come through a tough time recently, winning his last fight he comes into this one on a high and knows he has the skills to match his opponent, Red has hit a little tough patch in his career however, he has lost his last 2 fights via the judges and so will want to end this one inside the time limit and he has a good chance of that. Gruber has been (T)KO'ed 6 times so his chin may be a little suspect but I'm sure he will be looking to protect that here so it may be hard to get to for Red. Who ever takes it this should be a great fight.

170lbs

"Vellu" Veli Pirinen (8-4-0) vs. Gunnbjorn Ulfsson (10-5-0)

This one is going to be fun. I can't call it either way but my advantage would go to Pirinen, he has better Boxing and BJJ but he is a little inferior in Muay Thai while the Wrestling is even. Its all going to come down to who can vary their attack the best I think and that may just favor Thai guy Ulfsson but he has to overcome a very good all round skill set of his opponent which is why I have him down as underdog going in. Pirinen has shown his class on the ground before, submitting 3 opponents in the past, and he may well be looking to do that again here but he will need to get the fight down for that to happen which may be a problem. Ulfsson knows coming in he is vulnerable on the ground so will be expecting some takedown attempts and will likely want to use his kicks to slow Pirinen down. Either fighter can take this one easily it all just depends who wants it the most.

265lbs

Anderson "Mantequilla" Romario (15-6-0) vs. Dwayne Johnson (14-5-0)

Romario really has tapped into something special, his stats are not that great (Remarkable Muay Thai being his high point) but he has still managed to pull off 15 wins, now that is impressive and must worry any opponent he faces. Johnson has only Proficient Muay Thai but makes up for it with Remarkable Boxing and Wrestling as well as with a Purple belt in BJJ. Stats wise Johnson has the advantage but Romario has shown that means little to him in the past and that's what makes this fight so intriguing. Johnson may well look to fight it on the ground and avoid the main weapon of Ramario but that may be easier said then done as it will probably be what Romario is expecting to happen and planning for. Johnson also mist worry about being outworked, Romario has used this tactic in the past, simply throwing more strikes and doing more of the aggressive fighting then his opponent and picking up the decision at the end. What ever happens this is an exciting fight, two guys with not great stats but great records facing off, its what Tycoon is all about.

265lbs

"Stabber" Rob Snitch (7-3-0) vs. Mieczyslaw " " Grabowski (12-5-1)

Snitch is making his Cf debut in this fight which opens the main card of the event and he comes in very confident after several solid wins in his last few fights. Grabowski is no less confident however as he too is on his own run of wins which he will want to carry on in hopes of moving into a title fight down the line. Stand up is very even between these two fighters. Both have Wonderful Boxing and while Grabowski has slightly better Muay Thai its hardly anything. Snitch does have the advantage on the ground though, he has a Brown belt in BJJ compared to his opponents Purple but getting the fight to the ground may be tough as Grabowski has much better Wrestling to defend against any takedowns with. This one is likely to be decided on the feet and that means its probably going to come down to a bit of luck but something for Grabowski to worry about is he has been stopped three times in the past via Cut TKO's which may well come into play if Snitch can get his punches working well given his Boxing. Grabowski needs to avoid taking too much damage but he has the skills to do that and take this fight if he gets his striking game working early on. This one may well be decided by who can start the faster and keep the intensity up the longest.

265lbs

"Humble" Joshua Drake (19-6-0) vs. Carter "The Lion" Potter (21-10-0)

Drake is coming in off the back of a title loss in his last fight and will be wanting to win this fight to get himself another chance for the gold. Potter had his own setback in his last fight and has something to prove too which makes for one exciting fight. Drake me be nicknamed 'Humble' but his skills are anything but, with his World Class Boxing he is a very dangerous opponent to face but Potter is just a step behind him there, there is a little bigger difference in Muay Thai in Drakes favor but he is behind in Wrestling while their BJJ is even. Drake has a stand up advantage he does have to worry about the fight going to the ground a little, he has Potter matched in BJJ but Potter has submitted 3 people in the past so he can get it done down there where has Drake has only submitted 1, he has however never been finished on the ground but his chin may be a little suspect as he has lost via (T)KO 5 times several times via Cut which could come into play here. Both fighters have plenty of (T)KO victories between them and the skills to finish each other here, its all just going to come down to who can make that first vital shot and start to build momentum in their favor which may well come down to who is the more aggressive of the fighters.

155lbs

Severi Turpaansaaja (15-4-0) (Champion) vs. Colt Riley (10-1-0)

Co-Main Event of the night is for the Lightweight Title. Turpaansaaja is looking to make his 3rd title defense since winning the belt where as Riley is making his first challenge for a title. This is a fight of contrasts, Turpaansaaja has World Class Boxing but Riley has Olympic level Wrestling although both have decent skills to counter each other's specialty (Turpaansaaja has Exceptional Wrestling while Riley has Remarkable Boxing). Despite his Wrestling Riley has really relied on the Clinch to finish his fights recently but that may not work so well in this fight as the Champion has Wonderful Muay Thai and knows his way around the Clinch game too and so Riley may well want to get this fight down and not stand up with a superior striker. Turpaansaaja will want to avoid the ground, while he does match his opponent in BJJ, both are Brown belts, his real skills are in the stand up but Riley, just like Turpaansaaja has a Granite Chin meaning scoring that KO won't be so easy to do. I do wonder if the pressure of the occasion may get to Riley if it does then he may be in trouble but if he can hold his nerve he has a real chance to score a belt in his first title fight and possibly dominate the division for a while to come, Turpaansaaja won't be fazed by the occasion, he has been here before and come through it with flying colours but he has never fought a guy with Wrestling this good and will have to watch out for any takedowns thrown his way while he looks to score with the punches and possibly in the Clinch. Impossible to call this one I think but a sure winner will be those in attendance!

205lbs

"Mighty" Mike Mackey (13-4-1) (Champion) vs. Kalle "Kyy" Kolmiokuristus (22-14-0)

Main Event of the night comes in the Light Heavyweight division and see's Mackay looking to make his 6th successful title defense. Kolmiokuristus has challenged before for the title but lost on both occasions to the same man, he is looking to make it 3rd time lucky in title fights but his history is against him. This is going to be a stand up vs. ground specialist fight for sure. Mackey has scored 10 (T)KO wins in his career and with his World Class Boxing he will be looking to add another one to his collection, while Kolmiokuristus has scored 13 submission victories during his time in the cage and with his BJJ Black belt will be looking to add another victim here against the champion. I say it every time but all fights start on feet and that gives the advantage to Mackey, its up to Kolmiokuristus to get this one to the ground and with both fighters having Exceptional Wrestling that may well prove difficult but that's not his only worry Kolmiokuristus has a habit of getting stopped via Cuts, in his fight history it has happened to him six times while Mackey has stopped fights via Cuts three times meaning he will be very confident he can do it again and giving Kolmiokuristus even more reason to try and get this down early where he can avoid damaging shots and use his skills to their fullest. Its not just the hands of Mackey that Kolmiokuristus needs to watch for either, with Exceptional Muay Thai Mackey has used his kicks to great effect in the past and since Kolmiokuristus only has Mediocre Muay Thai and is not known for his kicking ability he may well find himself getting slowed down with some thudding strikes to the legs and body. Unless this fight goes to ground its all in Mackey's hands (and feet) and should see him take home another win but if Kolmiokuristus can score a takedown it's a different game all together and we may well see a new champion and the culmination of a long journey for the man fighting in his own backyard.

Cf.83: Countdown to Beatdown Preview by Kurt Hustle

Crashforce is looking to get the new year off to an early start with Cf.83: Countdown to Beatdown taking place in the 6000 seat Kamppi Arena on the 30th of December. The fans in attendance should be in for a hell of a night with the 185lbs title on the line headlining the show but there is also plenty more exciting match ups lined up so lets take a look.

265lbs

"No Can Do Black Belt" Ahto Paine (4-5-0) vs. James "The Mauler" McQueen (11-12-0)

The opening bout see's two fighters who are really looking to get their careers back on track. Each has lost their last 4 fights and won't want it to be made 5 in a row here but since only one can win that's the fate of one of them. Boxing and Wrestling they are even but its in Muay Thai and BJJ that McQueen has a big advantage over Paine. Paine can take heart that McQueen has been (T)KO'ed 12 times though so if he can use his Boxing he can finish him but he has to watch the ground game as McQueen has subbed 6 people in the past and could easily do so to him given his weak BJJ. Whatever happens one of these fighters will come away with a new lease on life while the other will have to wait for another time to kick start their fighting career.

170lbs

Clint "The Cowboy" Fredriksson (18-10-1) vs. "The Grim Reaper" Manny Calavera (4-7-1)

This one is looking like it will be a stand up clash. Neither fighter has finished a fight via submission despite each having good Wrestling and Purple belts in BJJ. If it is a Stand-N-Bang battle then Calavera has the advantage with his World Class Boxing and Excellent Muay Thai he has the skills to needed but that's not to discount Fredriksson who has excellent Boxing and Muay Thai of his own and has proved he can finish fights via (T)KO in the past. Both fighters are coming off a loss and are looking to get back in the winning habit of old and it may well come down to who can get to the others chin first and be more aggressive as to who takes this fight but with Fredriksson going to the judges 18 times in his career this one could well be number 19.

205lbs

"Milla Magia" Erik Bajramaj (6-3-0) vs. "The President" Buer Eremiel (10-5-0)

Stand up vs. ground in this one. Bajramaj is a ground specialist winning all but one fight via submission, while Eremiel has finished all but one fight via (T)KO with most of them coming via cut stoppages. Bajramaj will want this fight down on the ground as soon as possible and with his superior Wrestling that is a real danger for Eremiel but if the fight goes to Clinch then its big trouble for Bajramaj given his inferior Muay Thai. It's all about where the fight takes place, in stand up the advantage goes to Eremiel but on the ground its all about Bajramaj so its going to be a case of who can use what they do best to the best advantage but since fights start on the feet I give a little plus to the stand up guy normally.

205lbs

"The Rage" Kileki Kawike (19-12-0) vs. Bob "Razor Sharp" Stroker (18-7-0)

A battle of the older fighters here with two 30 year olds going at it. Its hard to see who wins this one, both fighters are excellent all-rounder's but each also has an advantage over the other, Kawike has a Black belt in BJJ compared to Stroker's Brown and yet Stroker has Sensational Muay Thai compared to Kawike's Competent, Boxing and Wrestling its about even. One thing that may tip the balance is that Stroker has never been submitted in his career while Kawike has been finished via (T)KO 9 times in his time in the cage and is on a bad run of losses recently, all streaks must come to an end though I'm sure he'd say. With these two being so experienced and well versed in the fight game I suspect this could go to the judges where it will all come down to who did the better work in there and that's something I just can't call, but whatever happens I'm sure it will be a hell of a fight.

265lbs

Cesar "Fat Piñata" Romero (10-9-0) vs. "The Boulder" Shatei Yoshida (5-2-0)

This one should be a very interesting Wrestling battle. Both fighters finish the majority of their fights on the ground via their GnP skills so it will be interesting to see who can score the first takedown and if the one taken down can out grapple the other guy. Advantage in both Wrestling and BJJ goes to Romero (Exceptional/Brown belt vs. Wonderful/Purple belt) but that doesn't mean this is a forgone conclusion that is not a huge disadvantage to be at and with his five wins on the ground its obvious that Yoshida knows how to work a ground game. Stand up its even, both have good Boxing and weak Muay Thai so I can't really see either looking to keep this one upright and try to finish off the other on feet but one may try it for a while just to get the other guy off their game plan a little and look for an advantage but that's unlikely in my opinion, this one is more likely a Wrestling match and with it so even that's an exciting prospect.

265lbs

Rike "Lisko" McMylly (9-6-0) vs. Seamus McDonald (5-4-0)

Both these fighters are coming into this one on a high after scoring big wins in their last fights and will be looking to build on that. Its looking very much like a Boxing vs. Muay Thai match up, McMylly has good Boxing but World Class MT while McDonald has Excellent Boxing and good MT. One unknown is the ground game, McDonald has a Purple belt in BJJ and has finished two fights via submission but he would have to get the fight down for that and his Wrestling is a lot weaker then his opponents. McMylly will want this upright, he has lost four times via submission and won't want to get into a grappling match with a superior BJJ fighter, he is much more comfy using his Muay Thai to dominate fights in the Clinch. The Clinch is something that McDonald has to be wary of he is much better at striking distance where his Boxing can come into play and he can possibly set up takedowns with which he can totally nullify the MT of his opponent. I suspect this one will be fought upright for the majority where McMylly will look to tie up his opponent but if it does go down it's a whole different kettle of fish that I wouldn't like to call.

185lbs

"Iron" Mike Tyson (9-4-0) vs. Smooth "THE DEVASTATOR" Operator (10-6-0)

This one is looking very much like a clash of Boxing specialists. Tyson has Sensational Boxing while Operator has Exceptional Boxing himself so there is very little in it. Muay Thai is the same both have ok MT but nothing special and they both sport a Purple belt in BJJ. Tyson has an advantage over Operator in Wrestling but both guys have only used that in the past for defense against takedowns so I don't see it coming into play here. This one is all about Boxing, both guys have used their hands to great effect in the past and it will be interesting to see who can do so here, when your opponent knows roughly as much as you do in your specialty it makes for one exciting battle. Tyson does have a little added incentive to win this one though, he is making his Crashforce debut in this fight and will want to make a good first impression, he is also yet to be finished inside the distance, all his losses have come via the Judges while Operator has been (T)KO'ed 3 times in the past so his chin can be gotten to and hurt which will give Tyson heart. Operator will not want to lose two in a row and to a debuting fighter however and I suspect will go all out to put the new guy in his place early. Winner is probably who ever gets to their opponents chin first and lands the decisive blow to gain control of the fight but that could be either fighter they are so evenly matched.

Antti Sokka (15-7-0) vs. Matti Teppo (12-5-0)

This is actually the 3rd match up between these 2 fighters, the first came at Cf.42 and the second at Cf.60 with each fighter getting a win on each occasion (Teppo in the first meeting, Sokka in the second) so they each know the other well. They are so evenly matched its unreal, Boxing and BJJ are bang on even and in Muay Thai and Wrestling where Sokka has the advantages they are only tiny differences (Wonderful vs. Remarkable and Sensational vs. Exceptional). The last fight they had will have taught a lot to Teppo, unlike the first bout which went to a decision, last time Sokka was much more aggressive both on feet and on the ground and that saw him choke out his rival with a RNC and seeing as Sokka has scored more submission victories then his opponent he may well be looking to repeat that again. Teppo will not make the same mistakes again though I feel, his game plan was off in the last fight showing that his opponent had learned from the loss he handed him and now its his turn to show that along with his Heart he has a brain too. I'm certain at some point this fight will go down to the ground but Teppo may well look to keep it upright a little and see if he can get his Clinch working well as that has brought him some joy in the past and Sokka has been (T)KO'ed several times in his career. This is a grudge match but I'm sure both fighters have a lot of respect for each other's skills and no matter who wins in the cage, one thing is for sure, everyone watching is the real winner with this one.

185lbs

Liu Bei (11-7-0) vs. Uncle Rico (16-9-0)

2 fighters with plenty of (T)KO victories between them square off in the Co-Main event of the night. Bei has used his Sensational Boxing to excellent effect thus far in his career scoring the majority of his wins inside the distance. Rico has done the same using his own Wonderful Boxing to finish people off before the fight gets to the judges but he may have to alter that plan for this fight. One area Rico does have an advantage in is BJJ, he sports a Brown belt compared to his opponents Purple and given he has submitted someone before he may look to do it again, although that opponent had no ground game. Bei will want to fight this on feet and with Wonderful Wrestling he is more then a match for Rico should he try to take it down to the mat. Rico has another problem other then his inferior Boxing skills and that's his moral, with just a few days to go before the fight he has none and it's a dangerous game getting in a cage with a man who's got better punching skills then you do lacking in self belief. There is time for Rico to sort out his head before the fight but he needs to get on with it because if he doesn't then he may well not have a head to ort out if Bei connects with a big shot at some point.

185lbs title match

"Global Killer" Anabol Asteroid (22-10-1) (Champion) vs. Dexter Morgan ( 16-6-0)

Asteroid comes into this, his 3rd title defense, full of confidence having won his last five fights in a row. Morgan is on a hot streak too however, having on his last two he has pushed himself into the number one contender position and he will feel he has the skills to take the belt. Asteroid is pretty much a specialist Boxer, with 16 (T)KO wins to his name he knows how to use his hands well and has plenty of skill in MT, Wrestling and BJJ to be able to defend himself in any area. Morgan is more an all rounder, he has not used one specific skill to win his fights, he has (T)KO'ed people but also Submitted them which makes him a dangerous man to face for the champion. Both fighters may have Brown belts in BJJ but its Morgan who has used his offensively in the past and to good effect which would give him a more rounded ground game if you ask me. His Wrestling and Muay Thai is also superior to the champions but he does have to fear the hands of Asteroid. Boxing wise he is at a disadvantage he has only Remarkable to his opponents Exceptional and with so many fights involving Asteroid ending with a (T)KO he will have to hope his chin is up to the job if he has to stand for any length of time. So with the champions game plan pretty much set its going to come down to what Morgan can do about it, if he gets it down to the ground he has more of a chance then if he stands toe to toe with Asteroid you'd think but its all a case of can his chin last out if he can't score with a takedown, well he has only ever been finished via (T)KO once which will give him confidence but then again Asteroid has never been submitted and only (T)KO'ed once also. This one may well go to the Judges given both fighters chins and skills then its anyone's to take as I sure don't know who to give an edge to if it does go all the way. Either way this should be the perfect main event for the show and send everyone into 2012 with a big high.

Cf.83: Countdown to Beatdown Preview by Kurt Hustle

Erik has improved his standup a lot, so he will test his standup with Eremiel. When he doesn't feel comfortable in standup anymore, he will take Buer to ground and break his arm. Only question mark is Erik's heart. Does he really want to be fighter. If Erik lose this one, he will retire from fighting.

Cf.84: Double Trouble Preview by Kurt Hustle

January the 6th see's Crashforce hold its first event of 2012 and what an event has been lined up for Cf.84: Double Trouble. To be fought under MMA rules and held in the 6000 seat Kamppi Arena in Helsinki, the main event will see the Heavyweight title be fought over but there is much more besides to enjoy so lets see what's on offer.

265lbs

Donnie "the skunk" Badge (8-10-0) vs. Brian "Mason" McGuire (8-7-0)

The night begins at Heavyweight with two fighters who are very evenly matched. Both have Remarkable Boxing and a Purple belt in BJJ and there is just a slight separation of them in Muay Thai and Wrestling also with Badge having double Respectable to McGuire's double Proficient. So with things so even its had to say how this one will play out but McGuire will probably look for a submission victory, he has scored 7 out of his 8 wins on the mat while he has never won via TKO. Badge could fight this one anywhere, he has a history in all area's of being able to finish fights so nothing that this opponent can offer will surprise him, he does however have no moral at the moment due to some recent losses so that may well give McGuire an edge despite his own recent troubles.

185lbs

Antonio "Black Russian" Kovalov (12-7-0) vs. "Jellysauva Suolessa" Veli Rokka (9-8-0)

Next is a Middleweight rematch from Cf.52 in which Rokka will be looking to avenge his loss. The previous fight went to the judges but it was due to Kovalov's Wrestling he took the win, dominating the fight with takedown he may well look to do so again given he still has the better Wrestling now and better BJJ. Rokka has awesome stand up skills which more then outclass Kovalov but if he can't keep the fight on feet that will count for nothing so he will have to be wary of any takedowns but if he does manage to do what he couldn't in the last fight he will be confident he can change his recent bad luck in fights. Kovalov however will be confident that he can once again take a win from Rokka and get his own career back going in the right direction, both guys need this one but only one can take it and who that is looks likely to hinge on their Wrestling skills.

265lbs

Ilkka "Hammertime" Mursu (7-7-0) vs. "Uncle Buck" John Candy (14-6-0)

Back to Heavyweight next and a classic Stand-N-Bang vs. Ground specialist match up. Candy is all about his hands, with his great Boxing and haul of 10 (T)KO's he knows how to finish fights on the feet. Mursu however, while having decent stand up is more at home on the mat. With his great Wrestling and Brown belt in BJJ he has carved out a niche for himself as an effective GnP fighter who can also throw out a submission when its called for. Candy can almost match his opponent in Wrestling primary but its going to be a test to see if he can avoid the takedowns that are sure to come as Mursu looks to take the fight to where he is comfy. If the fight stays on feet then its hard to see anyone but Candy taking the fight but if it does go to ground then Mursu has the advantage its all going to be about location and moral, something that Mursu is currently lacking putting him in a tough position.

185lbs

Mark Robbins (6-5-0) vs. Kalema "Ph" Kirunda (16-11-0)

Another Middleweight clash comes next and see's two excellent all-rounder's face off. Kirunda has hit a bit of a bad patch recently and is looking to snap himself out of it with a win and with his World Class Boxing plus Excellent Muay Thai, Wrestling and Purple belt in BJJ he has all he needs to do it. Robbins however can match him in exactly Boxing and more then match him on the ground sporting a Brown belt in BJJ himself. How this fight play's put is hard to call, with both fighters being so good at everything either could decide to take it to the floor or Clinch or just strike it out and that's what makes the fight exciting. Kirunda will find it easier to score and defend takedowns though he has a clear advantage in Wrestling, although Robbins is no slouch, and he has better Muay Thai too which may come into play. This one may well have to be called by the judges, both fighters have gone the distances more then they have finished fights and with them being so matched in all area's that may well be the case here again but it should be a great fight regardless.

170lbs

"Le Marquis" Donatien Alphonse Francois de Sade (8-2-0) vs. Henrik Luhtanen (9-6-1)

This Welterweight fight is shaping up to be a nice stand up battle. Both fighters are very good with their hands due to their respective Boxing skills and have scored plenty of (T)KO finishes between them in their career's so far. Luhtanen has the better Boxing but its de Sade who has finished more fights and has yet to be stopped inside the distance, his only losses coming via the judges while Luhtanen has been finished 4 times via (T)KO which may worry him going into a fight with a man who has the rep of his opponent for ending things. Can't really see either fighter throwing in any surprise takedowns as their Wrestling is pretty evenly matched and they both share a Purple belt in BJJ. This one looks like its all about the stand up and who can get the better of it and who ever that s its likely they will go on to win the fight.

185lbs

"The Pole" Mike Horner (12-7-0) vs. Unkind "Mixed Martial" Artist (6-2-1)

Third Middleweight bout of the night and this one is between two beasts! Horner has World Class Boxing, great Muay Thai and Wrestling plus a Purple belt in BJJ while Artist has World Class Muay Thai, great Boxing and Wrestling plus a Brown belt in BJJ. I have no idea how either fighter is going to look to fight this one as they can both get things done in a variety of ways. Artist will likely look to put his Muay Thai to good use and maybe try to Clinch up with Horner to prevent him getting his Boxing into the fight too much but Horner has shown in the past he can deal with a Clinch if he needs to and will probably be looking to get this one over with before Artist can tie him up too much. Neither fighter has really looked to score much on the ground in the past but that could be a good way to surprise your opponent, do something out of the ordinary to throw them off guard and get an early advantage in the fight, that assuming they have enough offensive skills in those area's to do it that is. With things so uncertain I would normally put my money on a Muay Thai expert against a Boxer but with these two I wouldn't even give an advantage right now, much rather just sit back and enjoy!

155lbs

"Kallis kuristaja" Antti Hirvi (11-7-0) vs. Numero Cero (5-5-0)

Lightweights make their first and only appearance next. Cero had a tough start to his career with 5 losses but he has since turned that around reeling off 5 straight wins on the bounce and he will be looking to make that run 6 in this one. Hirvi has been spotty though his career thus far not really able to string a lot of wins together despite his great skills but he will want to make a start on a streak here. Cero will want no part of the ground game with Hirvi, he has only a Purple belt compared to the Black belt of his opponent and that just has bad written all over it, but he has the skills to avoid a takedown given his almost Olympic level Wrestling which means that Hirvi will have trouble taking him down you'd think. Its not just the disparity in BJJ that will make Cero want this one up right either, its with his Boxing and Muay Thai he will be looking to finish the fight as he ahs in the past. Both are equally good and have carried him to some good recent wins but he will have to watch out. Hirvi has even better Muay Thai and knows his way around a Clinch very well, making him a dangerous fighter both standing and on the floor. The problem Hirvi has had in the past is finishing fights however and that has been a slight problem for Cero too which suggests that this may go all the way and then its all about who has worked the hardest which is no problem for both fighters as they do tend to both go for it and provide lots of action which should be exciting for all watching!

205lbs

Rodney Holmes (10-3-0) vs. "Mean Mugging" John Malham (9-5-0)

Light Heavyweight makes its way onto the card next and see's two very evenly matched fighter square off, which is a very common thing here at Crashforce! Holmes has World Class Boxing which as seen him finish a lot of fights but he also has excellent Muay Thai combined with great Wrestling and a Purple belt in BJJ to make him an all round threat. Malham too has World Class Boxing, although his is ever so slightly weaker, and great Muay Thai, although again not as good, he does however outclass his opponent in Wrestling and BJJ and has shown he is not as much of a one dimensional fighter finishing fights on the ground as well as on feet unlike Holmes who doesn't do ground finishers. With Holmes having the slightly better stand up game it may well be that Malham looks to get this one down where he can control the action better but he does have the stand up himself to stand toe to toe with his opponent. Holmes has shown he can handle takedowns in previous fights so he won't be too worried by the skills of his opponent here and will be more focused on pushing himself up the ladder towards the champion but he can't get too overconfident, he may yet not have been stopped inside the distance but there is always a first time and against a dangerous opponent here there is plenty of danger. Malham has worries of this own though, he has been stopped via (T)KO 4 times so far and against someone who has scored 7 out of 9 wins that way he will have to watch his chin and protect it well if he doesn't want that to become 5!

205lbs

Roland "Project G" Box (13-3-0) vs. Odin "Óðinn" Fredriksson (16-8-1)

Co-Main Event of the night comes in the Light Heavyweight division and see's a rematch from Cf.78. On that occasion Box took the victory via a submission at the very end of Round 1 after a mistake from Fredriksson but now he's back and looking for revenge. In the first fight Fredriksson was the more aggressive fighter and indeed looked to have the upper hand before his mistake cost him dearly and he may well come out the same way here. Both fighters have Sensational Wrestling and Brown belts in BJJ but its Fredriksson who puts them to use more, in his career Box has scored just 1 submission win while Fredriksson has subbed 4 people but crucially that 1 submission for Box was his opponent here. Stand up the advantage goes to no-one really, Fredriksson has the better Boxing but Box has the better Muay Thai and there is not really that much between them in both skills. What will be intriguing is will both fighters look to employ the same game plan or come in doing something different now they have felt each other out once already? What Fredriksson did the first time worked well so he may well look for a repeat performance, scoring takedowns as well as strikes but now Box has seen that he may well have to come up with a new game plan. Box will likely have to change, he got lucky in the first fight to win how he did, although he would probably say there is no luck other then that which you make for yourself! Rematches are always tricky affairs to preview, you can look back and see what has already happened but both fighters will likely come in with new plans now for this fight and with them being so even stats wise and pride on the line this is an exciting match lined up!

265lbs title fight

Jonny "The Angel" Victorio (14-3-0) (Champion) vs. "The Naturalist" Fedor Martinsson (10-2-0)

Main Event of the night comes in the Heavyweight division and see's Victorio defending his title for the 3rd time in what may be his biggest challenge. The champ is on a 7 fight win streak and has been dominating opponents with his World Class Boxing left and right so comes in feeling very confident but Martinsson has been going along just as well. Winning his last 5 fights in a row Martinsson has climbed to a title fight in only his 3rd fight in Crashforce showing just how successful he has been already. He also has been using his stand up to dominate fights and while his Boxing is not quite up to the standard of Victorio his Muay Thai more then makes up for it. Wrestling and BJJ are not likely to feature too much in this fight, both fighters have a Brown belt but that seems more for defense then as a major offensive weapon and their Wrestling is very even. This one is much more likely to be a stand up war and that's makes for an exciting prospect . Both have scored the majority of their wins via (T)KO's but they also both have a Granite Chin too, Martinsson does have one thing he can boast over Victorio however and that is that he has never been stopped inside the distance, the champion has in the past been TKO'ed and submitted which while it was early in his career may put just a slight bit of worry in his mind, but in recent times he has shown how damaging his hands can be which may worry Martinsson despite his apparent ability to take a punch or 10. This is too close to call, and I can see it going all the way to the judges unless someone can really land a damaging or perhaps just lucky shot which swings the fight in their favor. Whatever goes down this is one to watch for sure and a great end to the first event of 2012.

Cf.85: Magical Preview by Kurt Hustle

"Its Magic" If you are old enough to remember the 80's then you'll probably remember those words well, and on Friday the 13th of January 2012 there really will be magic in the air as Crashforce hold Cf.85: Magical. Held in the 6000 Kamppi Arena there will be not 1 but 2 title fights in a joint main event but that's not all, there is a great deal more on the card too so lets get right into the action.

170lbs

"Slick Willy" Owen William (2-4-0) vs. Alan Mecier (7-5-0)

This opening Welterweight bout is a rematch from Cf.72 and see's William looking for a bit of pay back as he was submitted in the first fight. William is mainly a Boxer, he has decent skills in all aspects of the fight game but his best asset is his Boxing and its probably that he will look to use, his problem is that Mecier outclasses him in all aspects of the game except Muay Thai, which is even. Mecier has done most of his damage on the ground subbing 3 of his opponents but is yet to KO anyone, his other wins have come via the judges. Its hard to look past Mecier for the win here but his moral is a little low at the moment which could affect his performance and give William a chance to avenge the loss but I wouldn't bet a whole lot of money on it.

155lbs

Warren "The Warrior" Adams (23-9-0) vs. "Black" Jack Fargloom (3-1-0)

This Lightweight clash is a real battle of experience vs youth. Adams is a real veteran, 32 years old with over 30 fights under his belt early in his career he was a monster, he won his first 18 straight fights but those lofty highs are behind him now and he has struggled a little recently but don't let that fool you he is dangerous! With 17 submissions under his belt and excellent Wrestling plus a BJJ Brown belt he still has the class to finish anyone he gets on the floor. Fargloom on the other hand is just 21and has only 4 fights under his belt but he has the hands to do damage, with great Boxing he is formidable but if you look at his history closely you'll see he uses the Clinch to perfection too and worryingly for Adams he is Olympic level Wrestling meaning takedowns won't be easy to come by for a submission. Its due to the Wrestling advantage and the fact that Adams is very much a BJJ fighter I give an advantage to Fargloom but you can't count out a veteran like Adams in any fight!

170lbs

Antti "The Angel" Atleetti (10-15-0) vs. Chris "The Inverse Midas" Herzog (16-9-0)

Back to Welterweight next for an interesting fight to say the least. Herzog has just come off challenging for the 170lbs title and not once but twice, unfortunately for him the judges found against him both times and now he looks to get back in the hunt for another shot and with his skills that's not out of the question. With great Boxing, excellent Wrestling and a Brown belt in BJJ he is a scary prospect to face but his opponent is more then a match! Atleetti also has excellent Wrestling and a Brown belt but he has superior Muay Thai and Boxing. Despite his excellent stand up skills Atleetti like Herzog has found most success on the ground, he is yet to (T)KO anyone for a finish his wins coming via submissions and the judges so this one may well come down to a ground battle between these two warriors and that's anyone's to take as they are so even. Herzog may wake a different approach however as Atleetti has been (T)KO'ed 10 times in the past so he is suspect in the chin area which may make Herzog rethink the ground strategy, only time will tell.

170lbs

Keke "Hammer" Pummel (7-4-0) vs. Juho Pennanen (5-3-0)

This Welterweight fight is looking like a real Boxing classic. Both fighters have World Class Boxing and just basic ground skills which suggests to me this is going to be a punchfest to be enjoyed. Pennanen is making his Crashforce debut in this one and will want to make a good first impression here against someone who has been around for a while in the Org but Pummel isn't going to make that easy for him that's for sure. Pummel comes in off the back of 2 straight wins and will want to make it 3 in a row and get himself moving towards a title shot but he may have trouble finishing Pennanen who has yet to be stopped, his losses coming via the judges while Pummel himself has been (T)KO'ed 3 times in his career thus far which will give his opponent a lot of hope that with his own Boxing being so good he can add to that. Pummel will likely need to get this one done quickly as he can before his own chin is tested again but with 2 fighters who are both so good with their hands anything can happen.

170lbs

Mercutio Benvolio (10-7-0) vs. "Deathperado" Adrian Desper (7-7-0)

Staying at Welterweight we have an excellent all round fighter against a more specialized Muay Thai guy. It's Benvolio who has the Thai skills here, it is World Class and backed up by pretty good Boxing and Wrestling as well as a Purple belt in BJJ but its his legs that go most of the talking. Desper has everything except perhaps Muay Thai, its not that its terrible but its not up to the standard of his other skills. Great Boxing and Wrestling plus a Brown belt in BJJ makes him a dangerous man to face in a cage. Desper is likely to want this one on the ground, he won't want any part of a possible Clinch battle with someone who out does him in Muay Thai so much and given his advantage on the mat where he has finished most of his fights it's the logical thing. Benvolio will want nothing to do with that and may well look to wear down the legs of his opponent to prevent the takedowns and possibly finish off the fight with a head kick which is how Desper's last fight was ended. If Benvolio does want to win he will have to sort his head out though, currently he has no moral and that will do him no good if its not addressed quickly!

155lbs

Keni "NeoNinja" Susi (15-13-0) vs. "El Toroo" Eskobar Andersson (11-6-0)

This Lightweight bout is actually the second meeting of these 2 fighters. The first came all the way back at Cf.48 and in that one Andersson took the win via the judges but its something that Susi has not forgotten. Now, like then, Susi has a Black belt in BJJ but he has improved his Wrestling and Boxing since that first loss to Andersson and no doubt will be feeling more confident he can do what he couldn't before and score a submission win which has become his specialty. Andersson has not just sat round since the last fight either though. He still has his World Class Muay Thai but also has great Boxing and Wrestling as well as a Brown belt in BJJ but his problem has been finishing fights, he has won the vast majority of his fights via the judges but he would say it doesn't matter how you win just that you do. Like the first time he will not want to get into a long ground fight with Susi as despite his good BJJ he can't match his opponent and he knows it, what he will want is to use his dangerous knees in the Clinch to finish off Susi before he can score a takedown. Susi while he has improved his stand up game knows his chance is on the ground and with his superior Wrestling he has every chance of getting to there but he will have to mix it up a little unlike the last fight where he was very one dimensional. However this one plays out it will be exciting for all watching that's for sure but I give a slight advantage to Andersson to make it 2-0 against Susi.

155lbs

"Latino Heat" Hector Cabrera (21-9-0) vs. Malvin "Parhaiten" Maldi (21-11-0)

Another Lightweight clash see's a submission specialist vs a great all round fighter. Cabrera makes his Crashforce debut here and has everything you want excellent Boxing, great Muay Thai, excellent Wrestling and a BJJ Brown belt and he can use it all, he has scored wins in stand up and on the ground via submission meaning he is comfy fighting anywhere but a ground battle against Maldi is suicide for most people. Also making his Crashforce debut Maldi has made a rep of subbing people in other Orgs, with a Black belt in BJJ he has scored 14 submission wins in his career thus far. Combine that skill with great Wrestling and excellent Boxing and you are dangerous, but I don't think Cabrera has to worry about a stand up battle too much, despite Maldi's Boxing looking impressive it is mostly for defense. Cabrera has used his Boxing and Muay Thai to finish fights in the past so that give shim hope he can do so again here but he has to avid going to the ground if he wants to win this one you'd think, off his back against someone with so many submissions previously there would be little hope even for the brown belt. This one looks very much like its going to be a stand-n-bang vs a takedown and sub game plan and it will be very interesting to see who makes theirs work the best!

155lbs

Dell Trotter (14-6-1) vs. Brad "The Technician" Ryan (19-14-0)

As we move closer to the title fights we stay at Lightweight for this clash of 2 great all round fighters. With World Class Boxing, excellent Wrestling and a Brown belt in BJJ the only thing that Trotter lacks is Muay Thai, that hasn't held him back though. Ryan is a very similar fighter, he is slightly inferior in Boxing and Wrestling but they are still strong points for him and he has a Brown belt in BJJ plus quite superior Muay Thai. The big difference between these two is the way they end fights, Trotter has finished the majority of his fights via (T)KO's using his GnP as well as punches to finish fights while Ryan has used his BJJ, subbing 13 of his victims. Its that stats which may make Trotter reconsider a ground battle with this opponent, if he did get a takedown and start to look to use his GnP there is also the chance that Ryan could throw up a sub out of nowhere or get the upper hand with a sweep, Trotter may not have been subbed as of yet in his career but there is always a first time after all. Ryan will know he is at a disadvantage on feet due to him never having finished a fight there and the fact he has inferior Boxing but he will feel confident if he can get on top on the mat he can do some damage to his opponent and I'm sure he'd love to be the first to stop him via submission. It's a tricky call for Trotter, true he is in pole position stats wise to dictate the fight but that doesn't mean he will and he has some tough choices to make in his game plan which should make for an unpredictable and exciting fight!

155lbs title fight.

Colt Riley (11-1-0) (Champion) vs. "The spartan" Emilio Viagra (15-5-0)

Co-Main Event is for the Lightweight title and see's Riley making his first defense of the title he has just won in his previous fight. He has all the makings of a great champion with Olympic level Wrestling backed up by a Brown belt in BJJ and great Boxing he is a force to be reckoned with and that is what took him to the title he now holds but Viagra is a monster and with World Class Boxing, excellent Wrestling and a Black belt in BJJ there is nowhere to hide from him. Riley may have just won the title but he is going to have to do something special to defend it but never count out a fighter who has lost just once and has a belt. Viagra will probably want o keep this one on feet, while his BJJ is better then his opponents I have seen people with Wrestling as good as Riley's overcome bigger gaps then this one, and since Viagra has the better Boxing he will feel he can add to his (T)KO haul. Riley has shown he can use the Clinch well in the past so if this does stay on feet he may well look to avoid a striking battle against a superior Boxer by using that to his advantage given his Muay Thai is just as good as his opponents. If he does use his superior Wrestling to take the fight down he will have to be careful against Viagra who while he has only subbed 2 people in the past does have a Black belt which needs respecting, if Riley can get in a dominant position and hold it though he may well be able to outscore the challenger and get a judges decision. This is so hard to call as there is so much that both fighters could do given the way they are built but one thing is for sure, whoever win this fight will know they have been in a war and the fans watching will be in for a hell of a show!

170lbs title fight.

Rocky Mercurius (13-3-0) vs. "The Dodgy Uncle" Alun James (20-8-0)

Main Event of the night comes in the form of a fight for the Welterweight title. Mercurius has been dominant recently, winning his last 7 fights and defending his belt twice in that time. James has won his last 3 in a row and that's what has propelled him to this title fight. Looking at Mercurius he is a real beast. He has excellent Boxing and Muay Thai, brilliant Wrestling and a Brown belt in BJJ but he has struggled to finish fights, early on he was finishing people left and right but all his last 7 wins have been via the judges but that may be due to the step up in class of opponent in Crashforce. James is no slouch himself in the stats but the only thing he surpasses the champion in is BJJ, he has a Black belt there but like the champion he too has struggled to finish fights with 11 of his wins coming via the judges which suggests this one may well come down to who can outscore his opponent. With his superior stand up skills and better Wrestling I suspect that Mercurius will want to stay on feet and do just that, outscore James using his hands and feet and look to stop the challenger although that may be easier said then done due to the fact that James has yet to be TKO'ed in his career. For his part James knows he is little match for Mercurius on feet, as while he has scored several TKO wins before its unlikely he could hang with this opponent for long, his best shot to get the belt is to get it down and try and work his superior BJJ skills but that's easier said then done when your opponent has Sensational Wrestling. Game planning will be key to this one, each fighter has an advantage in one area or another in this fight its all going to come down to who can do what they are the best at first and for longest.

Cf.86: Smoked Preview by Kurt Hustle

After the success of the last show Crashforce bounces triumphantly once more into the 6000 seat Kamppi Arena in Helsinki for their next show Cf.86: Smoked. Just before we go on I would just like to extend a huge congrats to whoever did the poster for this event as its phenomenal and worth everyone checking out! Ok that said there is plenty of action coming up on this event headlined by a battle for the Middleweight title so lets just jump right in shall we!

155lbs

Geraldo "couch potato" Higgins (5-7-0) vs. Matt "Myllyttäjä" Mylly (11-15-0)

The night begins at Lightweight and this one see's two fighters who each really need a win to get their career's moving in the right direction. Higgins uses his BJJ to win his fights, with his Brown belt he has won four fights via submission and proved hard to finish, the vast majority of his losses coming via the judges and that's just how his opponent rolls too. Mylly is a specialist in going the distance, in twenty-six fights all but six have gone to the judges and this one may well do the same. Mylly has a Purple belt in meaning he is suspect on the ground against a guy with better BJJ but he has vastly superior Wrestling meaning it will be hard to take him down for Higgins, Mylly also has great Boxing but he has shown he finds it hard to finish fights despite that meaning this one may well end up making the twenty-first fight he has given the judges some work!

265lbs

James "The Mauler" McQueen (12-12-0) vs. Erik "Ej" Jones (7-4-0)

Moving up to Heavyweight for the next fight and this should be a real tight affair. Both fighters are beasts stats wise, Jones is just ahead in Boxing but the difference is only slight but its slights which make differences. Both fighters can finish a fight anywhere, McQueen slightly more favors the ground as he has finished more fights via submission then on feet but against a fighter who shares a Brown belt with him that may be hard. Jones too can do it all and he has a huge plus on his side, McQueen has suffered twelve (T)KO losses so far and can be cut without too much difficulty giving Jones and his slightly better Boxing something to aim for, McQueen has experience on his side and will hope to combat his problems with strategy and use his formidable skills to take this fight, its looking like a real battle of game plans to me!

185lbs

Jesse Jalkalukko (9-9-0) vs. Nixon "Tweed" Red (7-7-0)

Going down to Middleweight next and this one see's two very good fighters who haven't really had the success you feel they should have. Red has excellent stand up skills and his ground game isn't bad either, infact he is almost the exact opposite of his opponent. Jalkalukko has excellent ground skills and not too shabby stand up. Jalkalukko has had a problem finishing fights which has held him back slightly, despite his Sensational Wrestling and Brown belt he has just subbed two people and gone to the judges for his victory seven times, Red has not had the same problem however, he has scored six (T)KO's so far but has been suspect recently, losing his last few fights via the judges which may play into his opponents hands somewhat but something that will give him hope is that Jalkalukko has been (T)KO'ed seven times in his career showing he can be hurt if you know what you are doing with your strikes. If Jalkalukko gets it to ground using his better Wrestling and BJJ skills he will stand a much greater chance of winning this one, if Red can keep it on feet then it will be a different story I feel.

185lbs

Chris Crocker (10-8-0) vs. "Ghibli" Hayao Miyazaki (6-4-1)

Staying at Middleweight next we have two very good Boxer's squaring off. Miyazaki is all about his hands, he has weak Muay Thai, ok Wrestling and Blue belt but its his hands that do the talking, his Sensational Boxing is a danger for anyone he faces and Crocker will be no exception. Crocker is no slouch when it comes to Boxing though, with Exceptional skills there he can just about match his opponent but he also has an advantage in he has much better Muay Thai as well as better Wrestling and a Purple belt. While his ground skills are better then his opponents Crocker has scored no wins on the ground thus far so that may not be such a risk for Miyazaki as I see this one being more a stand-n-bang affair which if he can keep it on the outside favors Miyazaki more but if Crocker can use any sort of Clinch to tie up his opponent he can take control of this fight for sure. Not sure how this will play out, its all down to what Crocker does I feel, if he tries to use his superior skills or not, if he does he may well take it but if it's a straight up brawl then its anyone's!

185lbs

Arvo Pentti (3-0-0) vs. "Nasty" Nate Barker (6-5-0)

Third Middleweight fight in a row comes between a man looking to get his career moving in the right direction and another looking to maintain his unbeaten run. Pentti has been looking good so far, with three wins out of three fights so far he I confident and with great Boxing, good Muay Thai, good Wrestling and a Purple belt in BJJ why wouldn't he be confident, well that may not be enough against Barker. Barker has World Class Boxing and that is his key to victory, he has trained it up to the slight detriment of his other skills which remain low, although his Wrestling matches Pentti's, but he has scored plenty of KO's so far showing it was worth the loss in other area's. If Pentti wants to add another win he is going to have to watch out for the hands of his opponent, he can't really afford to get caught up in a slugfest with him or its more then likely he will come out second best his best bet is to use his Muay Thai to tie him up or his Wrestling to take Barker down where his better BJJ comes into play. Its going to all come down to game plans this one I feel and if Barker keeps it up and on the outside, if he does he has a good chance to give Pentti his first defeat if not then its not looking likely he will pick up his first win in Crashforce here.

265lbs

Chris "Wizard of Oz" Adebisi (9-4-0) vs. Cesar "Fat Piñata" Romero (11-9-0)

Going back up to Heavyweight next and this see's a dedicated Ground and Pound machine vs. a great Boxer. Adebisi's only weakness is his Muay Thai which is just barely developed but its his Boxing where his main weapon comes from. With Exceptional Boxing he has managed to score seven (T)KO's so far and will want to add another here and with Remarkable Wrestling and a Purple belt for defense that would look a likely outcome to many but that doesn't take into account his opponent. Romero is a master of Ground and Pound, with Exceptional Wrestling and a Brown belt in BJJ he is more then a match for Adebisi and having scored nine TKO wins due to his GnP skills being on your back is a very dangerous place to be in this fight. Romero does have a weakness though which Adebisi can exploit, he has been TKO'd eight times in the past so his chin is suspect if it can be gotten to and due to his Boxing and Muay Thai not being the best that is a distinct possibility here. Romero needs to get this fight down to the ground quickly and do what he does best which is pound away until its over, while Adebisi needs to keep this on feet and score a good few shots to slow down his opponent and help him avoid any takedowns so its looking like it will come down to who uses their Wrestling better and that I can't call without seeing their stats and knowing the fight engine so we all have to wait and see.

185lbs

Matti Teppo (12-6-0) vs. Pentti Hirvonen (18-11-0)

Back to Middleweight again for the next bout and this one is looking phenomenal. Teppo is a superb all round fighter, he has Exceptional Boxing and Wrestling as well as Remarkable Muay Thai and a Black belt in BJJ so its not often he meets a man who can out grapple him but in Hirvonen he has met that man! Hirvonen has a Red belt in BJJ, the highest honor that can be given out, making him a dangerous man to get on the floor with but more then that he also matches Teppo in Wrestling too and is just a step behind in Boxing. Hirvonen is also making his Crashforce debut which he will want to win and carry on a good run recently while Teppo has been struggling just a touch but there is no time like the present to snap out of that. The question for Teppo is how does he go about this fight? He does have a slight Boxing advantage but its his Muay Thai which may play a key part in his game plan. Hirvonen has decent, but nothing better then that, Muay Thai so he may be suspect in a Clinch if Teppo could secure one but that brings its own problems of possible takedowns. Teppo needs to keep this on feet and possibly work his way to the judges, that is how most of his wins have come and it would be a logical thing here if he can't score a TKO as he won't want to get into a BJJ battle to sub his opponent which seems strange to say when you have a Black belt but Hirvonen is no ordinary opponent. With eleven wins via submission Hirvonen's game plan will be simple, get the fight down and get it over with as soon as possible then move on to bigger and better things but overconfidence can be a killer and against an opponent as skilled as Teppo nothing should be taken for granted. The real winner here will be the fans for sure.

205lbs

Demian Silva (13-8-1) vs. Luciano Bivar (5-0-0)

Going to Light Heavyweight next and this fight see's Bivar making his Crashforce debut and what a signing he is. So far he is unbeaten but more then that he has never gone more then one round! All his five wins have come via submission and with Remarkable Wrestling and a Brown belt he is a danger to pretty much anyone. Silva also has a Brown belt in BJJ but he is much more comfy using his stand up skills to win fights. With Superb Boxing and Wonderful Muay Thai he has been able to score seven TKO wins thus far on top of a few subs and some decisions. A problem for Bivar is that Silva has never been subbed thus far in his career and Bivar has never faced a man with equal BJJ to him but that may not be such a problem as it would seem, Bivar also has excellent Muay Thai and some KO Power so its not just the ground where he is dangerous and that could spell trouble for Silva. Silva does have the advantage of better Boxing however and if he keeps the fight on the outside he stands a very good chance of hurting Bivar and staying out of the danger zones. Its all going to come down to where each fighter wants to fight this one, Bivar does have the better Wrestling but does he trust his BJJ enough to grapple with another Brown belt? Does Silva trust his Muay Thai enough to Clinch with an opponent who is his equal? I would hate to call this fight, Silva's Boxing may be the key to this one, if he mixes that in against the mediocre Boxing of Bivar he stands a much better chance of giving his opponent his first loss but with five wins in as many fights never write off Bivar.

265lbs

Keijo Richards (13-8-0) vs. Mieczyslaw " " Grabowski (13-5-1)

Co-Main Event comes in the Heavyweight division and see's two fighters face off for the first time. Grabowski has floated around a little in his career never staying in one Org too long but he looks to have found a home now in Cf, using his Wonderful Boxing, Superb Muay Thai, Exceptional Wrestling and Purple belt he has plenty to offer in a fight and he has won all his three fights in the Org so far and is fast moving towards a title shot you'd have to think but this is a tough challenge. Richards is a great all rounder fighter but its his hands that do most of the talking. With Exceptional Boxing he is dangerous but when you back that up with Remarkable Muay Thai, Wonderful Wrestling and a Brown belt you have a fearsome fighter on your hands and more then a match for Grabowski. Its tough to see how Grabowski is going to fight this one, how do you go about fighting a man who betters you in all but one skill? Well looking at Richards past history he has suffered five losses via TKO (Strikes) so that is one ray of hope if Grabowski can pressure him using his Boxing or even maybe take him down and try some GnP. Something that has worked recently though his Head Kick's, Grabowski has won his last two fights in a row via this method so you have to wonder if he will look to make that three? Richards will likely want to use his hands and beat the hell out of his opponent like he has done in the past to many and if there is one thing to know about Richards it's he doesn't hang around, in his history as a fighter he has gone past round one only five times and that's in twenty-one fights! Richards doesn't get paid by the hour obviously and finishing this fast may be a good option for him again and a real possibility as Grabowski has been stopped four times himself. Not sure how this will play out, both fighters come in with momentum so will be interesting to say the least and a fitting lead up to the big fight coming up.

185lbs Title fight.

"Global Killer" Anabol Asteroid (23-10-1) (Champion) vs. "The Russian Experiment " Marco Dragonov (9-1-0)

Main Event comes in the form of a title defense for the Middleweight belt. Asteroid comes in as champion and on a real roll, he has so far made three successful title defenses and is on a six fight win streak. Dragonov is on a hell of a run himself, seven wins in a row to be exact and having won his first two fights in Crashforce he has now earned himself a shot for his first title. Its not hard to see why both these fighters have been on such good runs recently either all their stats are very closely matched and that makes calling this fight next to impossible for me. Asteroid has a slight Boxing advantage given his Exceptional vs. Dragonov's Wonderful but Dragonov does have a Muay Thai advantage Exceptional vs. Wonderful. Wrestling is dead even but the champion does have a slight BJJ advantage given his Brown belt against the Purple of the challenger. That ground advantage may not come into play though as Asteroid is more happy standing up and using his Boxing then he is subbing people as his history shows 16 (T)KO's with 0 Submissions thus far. Dragonov has trouble finishing fights, given his skills you'd think he would stop a lot of fighters but he has only done so twice, the vast majority of his wins have been due to his out working his opponent and getting a judges decision. As I have already said Asteroid has no problem stopping opponents inside the distance but when he does go the distance he has been on the losing side of the judges decisions more then he has been on the winning side of it which may worry him given his opponents rep when the fight goes all the way. The logical thing would be for him to go out and stop the fight as early as he can but Asteroid doesn't want to make too many mistakes against a fighter as dangerous as Dragonov can be. It should be a great Main Event to top off a great show and I for one am looking forwards to how this battle plays out.

Cf.87: Full Moon Madness Preview by Kurt Hustle

Another event another awesome poster from Crashforce owner Marky Mark! That’s right January 27th see’s Crashforce once more invade the 6000 seat Kamppi Arena in Helsinki for Cf.87: Full Moon Madness. Now this isn’t just the painkillers for the broken fingers talking when I say this is looking good, with a stacked card lined up and headed by a battle for the Light Heavyweight belt this should be one hell of a show, so lets jump in to the action shall we and see what’s on the way!

205lbs

"The President" Buer Eremiel (10-6-0) vs. Ely Scott (14-10-0)

Show opens at Light Heavyweight and see’s two fighters looking to snap a bit of a bad run of results. Scott makes his Crashforce debut in this one too so will be out to impress and with his skills he has every chance to do so. With Remarkable Wrestling and a Brown belt he has the skills to end fights and has done 8 times already via Submission. Eremiel is the opposite, he likes the stand up and with Wonderful Boxing and Exceptional Muay Thai he has what it takes to get things done as proved by his 9 (T)KO wins so far. This depends where the fight goes, if Eremiel gets a Clinch and does his thing he takes it, if Scott can get the fight down he has every chance of making a winning debut. Both fighters need the win to kick start their career’s its just a case of who can get it?

265lbs

Jarppi "Grim Grin" Virne (9-11-0) vs. Anderson "Mantequilla" Romario (15-7-0)

Moving to Heavyweight for the next bout and this one is going to be interesting. Virne has never really lived up to his ability, with Wonderful Boxing, Remarkable Muay Thai and Wrestling and a Purple belt in BJJ he should have a much better record then he does. Romario however has been punching slightly above his weight with just Respectable Boxing, Remarkable Muay Thai, Superb Wrestling and a Blue belt in BJJ he is not a beast but has used his skills to the max so far. This is what makes this interesting, how will Virne come at this fight given he can do so much against the relative one dimensional Romario. Both fighters come in off a loss and want a win but only one can have it, its Virne’s raw skill verses the sheer drive to win of Romario and its anyone’s guess who takes this one in the end!

205lbs

"Milla Magia" Erik Bajramaj (7-3-0) vs. "The Rage" Kileki Kawike (19-13-0)

Back to Light Heavyweight next and this should be a very good ground battle. With Sensational Wrestling and a Brown belt in BJJ Bajramaj is a tough challenge on the ground and has shown just how ought by subbing 6 people so far but he has more then met his match with Kawike. He has Exceptional Wrestling but crucially a Black Belt in BJJ with 9 subs under it. Recently however Kawike has hit hard times, and needs to snap a losing streak he has been on while his opponent here comes in off the back of a good win but that doesn’t mean this is a sure fire thing. Both fighters prefer the ground that’s obvious from their records, but they do have decent stand up skills too should they feel the others ground game needs to be respected more then normal. I am saying this will be a great war for position and submission which we don’t see too often in Tycoon, at least I don’t anyway, so should be an exciting spectacle.

170lbs

Gunnbjorn Ulfsson (11-5-0) vs. Clint "The Cowboy" Fredriksson (19-10-1)

Moving down to Welterweight the next fight see’s two guys who are no strangers to the judges. Between them they have been the distance 29 times and I wouldn’t bet against them going there again now. Both are very evenly matched, Boxing there is just a slight advantage for Fredriksson and same with Wrestling, BJJ its dead even both sharing Purple belts but its Muay Thai where the biggest difference lies. Ulfsson has a pretty big advantage there Exceptional vs. Strong and that could be his key to dominating this fight. Dominating Fredriksson is not easy though as his record shows and his fight history if you look at the fights has shown he knows his way around a Clinch so the Thai advantage that Ulfsson has may not be as big of an advantage as it would seem. Ulfsson has the skills to match his more experienced opponent but does he have what it takes to finish him? I am not sure either fighter does and have a feeling this may well go to the judges taking their total combined to a nice even 30.

265lbs

Arne "Paul" Riseman (9-6-1) vs. "Humble" Joshua Drake (19-7-0)

Moving back to Heavyweight now and this should be a great stand up battle. The primary offensive stat for both is their Boxing, Riseman has Elite while Drake has Sensational making them two very dangerous men with their hands. Its not just hands though both have Wonderful Muay Thai, Wrestling is Wonderful vs. Remarkable and they both have Purple belts. The Wrestling and BJJ is mostly for defense for both fighters so this is looking like a Stand-N-Bang affair to remember. With a slight advantage in Boxing the edge has to go to Riseman but both men have shown in the past they can be stopped via TKO and all it takes is one shot to end a fight after all so Drake has just as much a chance as his opponent does to get a win here and he needs it, having lost his last 2 fights he wont want that to become 3 in a row. Riseman avoiding going 3 straight by winning his last fight and now is looking to kick on towards the top of the division, this fight could well decide the near futures of both fighters and that means both will be going all out.

205lbs

Bob "Razor Sharp" Stroker (19-7-0) vs. Aarne "The Terror of Morocco" Juutilainen (14-9-0)

The main card begins with a clash of excellent Light Heavyweights! Stroker has had a long and illustrious career and even though in game terms he is now getting on in years he is still going strong and winning. Juutilainen is a few years younger but no less talented, he is also making his Crashforce debut here and that makes this fight a must win for him to get a good start over a veteran. Both fighters have excellent stats. Juutilainen especially is fearsome to look at, with Sensational Boxing, Exceptional Muay Thai, Elite Wrestling and a Brown belt its hard to pick a weakness in game but Stroker is no shrinking violet, with Exceptional Boxing, Sensational Muay Thai, Wonderful Wrestling and a Brown belt he can get things done himself. So how does this play out? Juutilainen has shown he can do it all, he has KO’ed and subbed people in the past so he is comfy anywhere the fight goes while Stroker has been more a (T)KO artists in the past. If Juutilainen gets this down to the floor then his chances probably go up although Stroker has not been subbed before in his career. With their stand up being so even its hard to tell who would dominate there but given Stroker’s past history you’d have to give him an advantage. Too hard for me to call but I suspect the younger Juutilainen may have more say over this one then his opponent.

205lbs

Simo Silakka (8-4-0) vs. Nikolay Grigoriev (17-5-0)

Staying at Light Heavyweight now the next fight see’s a debuting Grigoriev face the biggest test of his career. So far Grigoriev has surprised many, with little in way of stand up skills he has relied on his Wonderful Wrestling and Brown belt to dominate fights and secure himself a lot of wins but now he face a man with equally as good ground skills and far better stand up. Silakka has a Brown belt also but also Exceptional Wrestling, Sensational Muay Thai and Wonderful Boxing making him an all round fighter to be feared. Grigoriev will probably find it hard like never before to get this fight down and take control and without that he has little hope of a win, his Boxing and Muay Thai is very under developed so if he can’t get the fight down and into a dominate position he has little chance of being able to defend against the onslaught of attacks coming against him. Silakka is still young and yet he already has a good record in the cage, this is the type of fight he needs to win to move him up the rankings even more and into title contention, a loss here and it would really dent his credibility so there is a lot on the line for both fighters to prove.

185lbs

"The Pole" Mike Horner (13-7-0) vs. Liu Bei (12-7-0)

Middleweight makes it only appearance on the card next and this one is a rematch from Cf.70. On that occasion Horner lost the fight when he was stopped at the beginning of Round 2 via TKO so now he is back and looking for revenge. Both fighters are predominantly Boxers, they both have Sensational stats there but their other skills are not weak either Wrestling and BJJ is even (Wonderful/Purple belts) and Horner has a bit of a Muay Thai advantage but that was pretty much nullified in their last meeting. The question is now has anything been learned from the last fight by both men? Bei was more aggressive and that’s what helped him take control of the fight, will Horner stick with his game plan and hope it just works better this time or will he try the more aggressive approach and match Bei? Keeping the old game plans may not be such bad idea as both fighters managed to Rock their opponent in the first meeting which tells Horner that he can hurt Bei if he can land his strikes clean. Both fighters will have been hard at work in the gym since that last fight and they have had some success in the cage since then but this is the fight both will want to win not just for pride but also with the hope it will thrust them towards the big time in this division. With most eyes probably on the main event this could be a sleeper for fight of the night.

265lbs

Pekka "Punasolusprinkleri" Lipponen (14- 4-0) vs. "The Naturalist" Fedor Martinsson (10-3-0)

Co-Main event see’s Crashforce Heavyweight Hall of Fame member Lipponen take on a possible future Hall of Fame member Martinsson. Both fighters had a shot at the Heavyweight title in their last fights before this one and neither could take the title but that won’t worry them right now, they will both just be concentrating on winning here and getting another shot! Martinsson is a Stand-N-Bang machine, with Exceptional Boxing and Muay Thai he has carved his way through many opponents thus far scoring plenty of KO wins along the way. Lipponen is a more all rounded fighter, he has scored wins on feet and on the ground and with his Black belt on BJJ as his primary weapon it not hard to see why people don’t like getting down and dirty with him. If Martinsson wants to win this he needs to keep it on feet and with pretty even Wrestling he has a chance of achieving that goal but he will have to be careful not to get too cocky and lose concentration because if he goes down on his back he will be in real trouble despite his own Brown belt. Lipponen has very good stand up skills of his own and has scored some TKO’s in the past but they are not as well rounded as his opponents so really he will want this fight down where he has the advantage. Martinsson does have one big thing in his corner for this fight and that is his manager, Soyster Eighty-Nine is as I write this the number 2 ranked manager in the game and was number 1 as late as last night. This one should be a classic and well worth checking out no matter who you support.

205lbs title fight

"Mighty" Mike Mackey (14-4-1) (Champion) vs. Cookie Monster (16-4-1)

Main Event time and this one is for the Light Heavyweight title. Its not often that I talk about the challenger before the champion but here I will as its not often that the challenger gets a shot so quickly. Monster is making his Crashforce debut here and is walking right into a fight for the title. It would be very foolish for anyone to argue with him about this though as with his Elite Boxing, Wonderful Muay Thai and Wrestling he has the tools to silence any critics. The champion will not care who he faces, Mackey has not lost in this Org so far and indeed won the title in only his second fight here defending it 6 times since then. With Exceptional Boxing he does come in at a disadvantage but he makes up for that with Exceptional Muay Thai and Wrestling which outdoes his opponent here but his biggest advantage is in BJJ. Monster only has a Blue belt while Mackey has a Brown belt. Now its true that Mackey has not yet used his BJJ to any great degree but with such a big gulf in class this maybe the fight he breaks it out especially since he has better Wrestling. Monster can’t afford this to go down, he has the stand up advantage and has scored 15 (T)KO’s so far in his career which he will want to add to here, off his back he would have little chance you’d have to think. Mackey has used his stand up skills to win fights all his career too but if there was a time to use the ground game this surely has to be it, but its risky going for takedowns if you are not used to them as there is the chance of getting picked off with counters which is a real danger. This is a Main Event to savor for the fans, both fighters can end the fight in an instant with a big shot but there is also plenty of tactical aspects to look at too. The champ has seen many a challenger come and go but this one may give him more trouble then most have before.

I am saying this will be a great war for position and submission which we don’t see too often in Tycoon, at least I don’t anyway, so should be an exciting spectacle.

.

Erik will take decision win in standup. Kileki will gass himself out with takedown attemps.

Cf.88: Rock On! Preview by Kurt Hustle

Crashforce goes right up my street on 3rd of February with Cf.88: Rock On! Being held in the 6000 seat Kamppi arena in Helsinki it promises to be a hell of an event rivaling any glorious rock event of old. With the Heavyweight title being defended in the Main Event this is one for the big men to enjoy but there is much more besides that too so lets just jump right in shall we.

265lbs

"The Boulder" Shatei Yoshida (5-3-0) vs. Brian "Mason" McGuire (9-7-0)

The event begins where it will end at Heavyweight and see's two fighters who win fights but not by the way their skills would suggest. Yoshida sports a Brown belt in BJJ but prefers to use his Wrestling to GnP his way to wins rather then submit opponents while McGuire has Remarkable Boxing but prefers to use his Purple belt in BJJ to submit people. Submitting a Brown belt who is used to fighting on the ground may be a little more tricky then the old opponents though so he may have to change strategy a little for this one. Yoshida is having his first fight under a new manager having lost his last three fights under the old one so its going to be interesting to see what his new plan is or if he sticks with what he did before while McGuire's game plan is hard to tell for this opponent so it should be a good fight.

185lbs

Hans Gruber (12-8-0) vs. Antonio "Black Russian" Kovalov (13-7-0)

Moving down to Middleweight next this is a fight between two men who are no strangers to going the distance. Together they have gone to the judges 20 times and this one could well end up there again. Both have equally good Boxing and while Gruber has a Muay Thai advantage, Kovalov has a Wrestling and BJJ advantage. With each fighter being good in all areas of the fight game this could be a sleeper for a fight of the night and its almost impossible to call who wins it. I would give Kovalov a slight advantage though just due to history. Gruber has been stopped 8 times in the past meaning he can be hurt with punches if you can get past his defenses while Kovalov has only been stopped twice but has lost out via the judges 5 times so if it goes the distance then its advantage Gruber as he has won every fight he has been in that went all the way. I suspect Kovalov will want this over with inside the time and will go out looking for the stoppage while Gruber may look to just outpoint his opponent and pick up a third straight Crashforce win.

185lbs

Lassi Lambada (5-4-0) vs. Junior "The Pot Predator" Paulista (10-6-0)

Staying at Middleweight up next is another battle of the beasts. Both these fighters just love to TKO their opponents, all their combined wins except 1 have come that way but both are susceptible to being TKO too making this anyone's to win. Lambada has a slight Boxing and Wrestling advantage but their Muay Thai and BJJ is even so it may well come down to experience and that is on the side of Paulista, he is older and has more fights under his belt which may well come into play here given how well matched they are primaries wise. Both men have something to prove too, Lambada is coming off two losses in a row so he needs to get his career back on track while Paulista is making his debut in Crashforce and will want to prove a point early and add to his good run of wins recently in a different Org. With both men looking for the win to send a message to not just this opponent but the rest of the division it should be a good fight to watch no matter where the action may go, be it clinch, ground or on the outside.

155lbs

Numero Cero (6-5-0) vs. "Papai" Bondye Viktorye (10-10-0)

Moving down to Lightweight but still the fighters are the same, in a word, beasts. Cero has been on a great winning streak since his bad start to the fighting life. After losing his first 5 fights he has since won his last 6 in a row and has the skills to go far. Viktorye has had some troubles too but his seem to be ongoing. He has switched manager three times so far and is just looking for some consistency and to break a losing streak but this may be a hard task against this opponent. His best bet is to use his World Class Boxing although he does have a skill advantage in everything except Wrestling where he just trails in the wake of his opponent but despite his good looking primaries its his game planning that has let him down, losing out on the judges cards far more often then he has been stopped inside the distance he really needs to improve the plan and execute it better if he wants to get back to winning ways. Cero on the other hand has found his stride well and will want to add to his good recent run of results and will see this as a perfect opportunity, especially as his opponent will be flying in from LA for the fight and he will hope that there is an element of jet lag at play. Despite having the weaker looking skills I fancy another win for Cero here but that's not to write off Viktorye he could easily pull off a win if he plans for the fight right.

205lbs

Kalle "Kyy" Kolmiokuristus (22-15-0) vs. Carl "The Fightmare" Weathers (11-8-0)

Up to Light Heavyweight for the next fight and this one is a classic Submission specialist vs. Sprawl-N-Brawl fighter. Kolmiokuristus has perfected the art of submitting people, scored 13 wins using his Black belt in BJJ he is one fighter you don't want to grapple with and that's something that Weathers won't want to do. Sporting just a Purple belt Weathers is no match for his opponent on the ground but standing he is a dangerous man. With World Class Boxing Weathers can take you out easily and its something that Kolmiokuristus will have to watch out for as he has a checkered past of getting stopped by cutting up chronically. Of his losses so far nearly half have come via the doctor stopping the fight due to him bleeding which will give Weathers a target to aim for. The problem with head hunting to get a stoppage is you leave yourself open for takedowns and Kolmiokuristus does have a Wrestling advantage in this fight. It will be interesting to see how this plays out, Weathers is on his forth manager now has a patchy history fighting in Orgs (his QFC record is great however). If the fight goes down there is only one winner but if Weathers can keep it up right he has a real chance of coring a win if he can cut up Kolmiokuristus' face. As with most things in life its all a matter of location, location, location.

265lbs

"Uncle Buck" John Candy (15-6-0) vs. Martin "The Tyrant" Eyre (11-7-0)

The main card begins at Heavyweight and on paper there is only one winner, but fights are determined by much more then just paper. Eyre has just made a drop down in division to enter the Heavyweights after fighting most of his career up at Super Heavy and this is his first step into Crashforce. With his stats you'd expect him to have had more success in the past but he has never really achieved the top levels. Candy has punched above his weight for most of his career, and he will have to do so again to pick up a win here. The only stat he has an advantage in is Muay Thai. Boxing its Sensational vs. Wonderful, Wrestling is Remarkable vs. Superb and BJJ its even worse for him Black belt vs. Purple belt so take out the MT and things look bleak but there is a big variable hanging over this fight and that is Eyre's ability to withstand punishment. 6 times so far Eyre has been stopped after he cut up badly (3 of those 6 came in the last 4 fights he has had) and the doctor was called and Candy has some decent power behind his punches so there is no reason he can't hurt Eyre too. With better Wrestling and BJJ the plan may be for Eyre to take Candy down and keep away from the Boxing or possible Clinch threat but that itself holds dangers as takedowns can be countered with strikes. Both fighters are coming off wins and have about equal moral at the moment so there is little to indicate a clear advantage other then the stats but as we all know stats are not everything and this should be a hell of a fight to watch out for.

185lbs

"Iron" Mike Tyson (10-4-0) vs. "Pistol" Pete Palahniuk (4-0-0)

Moving down to Middleweight next it's a clash of Boxers. I say a clash of Boxers but really both men can do most things in the fight game, Tyson is well adept at taking people down and using some decent GnP on them, he can also Clinch even though his Muay Thai is pretty weak but its his World Class Boxing that's his best feature. Same goes for Palahniuk, he has some good Wrestling and Muay Thai but it's the World Class Boxing that is the stand out feature of his game. Palahniuk does rely on it more then his opponent but it has brought him 4 wins in a row so far and seen him go unbeaten thus far so I guess it's a case of if its not broken don't fix it but now he faces a man with equally good Boxing and a talent for taking people down when he needs to and that is a danger. With both having a BJJ Purple belt it may well be a wrestling match if the fight does go down to see who gets position and can dictate the action and that gives Tyson the edge as his Wrestling is slight better. Standing its hard to say who would come out better, that all depends on how each fighter is going to look to fight, either being aggressive and looking for the finish or cautious in which case it may well be a bit of a let down. I am saying it won't be a let down and will be a nice and exciting fight that could well go all the way to the judges where its their problem to call and not mine.

185lbs

Dexter Morgan (16-7-0) vs. Kalema "Ph" Kirunda (17-11-0)

Staying at Middleweight and with the main event getting ever closer we have a very interesting looking fight. Kirunda has never really settled in Crashforce, he has had mixed fortunes ever since he signed and now he is in his thirties he must know time is running out to really crack the big time in the division, but it's the old warriors who are often the most dangerous and despite his age Kirunda has the skills to hurt people. Elite Boxing is backed up with Exceptional Muay Thai and Wrestling plus a Purple belt. Morgan has faired much better in Crashforce. His last fight was for the belt but he just came up short, and now he is looking to earn another crack at it. On the outside he can't match his opponent here with his Remarkable Boxing he is at a disadvantage but he does match him in Muay Thai and Wrestling and crucially he has a Brown belt which he has used before to win fights. Kirunda has had problems with grapplers in the past, 4 times he has been submitted while Morgan has won 5 times via that method. It's all going to depend on where the fight goes, if Morgan takes the fight down he has a clear advantage but if Kirunda keeps the fight upright his Boxing may well make the difference. One thing to keep in mind about these two though is that both seem to have a little crush in the judges, combined they have given them work to do 30 times and this one could make that 31 quite easily.

265lbs

Dwayne Johnson (15-5-0) vs. "The Trippy Berserk" Ingolfur Arnarson (10-2-0)

Moving up to Heavyweight in prep for the main event and this one is a clash of two young and very talented fighters. Arnarson is making his Crashforce debut here and he has been matched up against a dangerous fighter but that is something he will have to get used to in this Org! Johnson has been on a roll recently, winning his last 4 fights in a row he is moving his way up the rankings and its hard to game plan against him. He is not amazing at anything, his best stats is his Wonderful Wrestling but he also has Remarkable Boxing so he can stand too and exchange. Something you may not expect is that despite his Proficient Muay Thai he is adept at the Clinch and sporting a Purple belt he is no slouch on the ground. Arnarson is a more straight forward Boxer, with Strong Muay Thai and Superb Wrestling plus a Purple belt he is ok at those things but its his Exceptional Boxing that normally see's him over the line in fights. I think this is most likely to stay upright, despite the Wrestling of Johnson, and if that's the case then its probably going to be a battle of if Johnson can get a Clinch or if Arnarson can keep the fight on the outside where he can use his Boxing to pick off his opponent. A worry is that Arnarson's head is not right at the moment, his moral is terribly low and there is not long before the fight happens to get that sorted out, low moral is a killer and with this being his debut its not the time to have a bad performance due to something that could be fixed. Johnson will be happy to take any advantage he can get as he looks for a title shot however so I'm sure he is not eager to see anything change. Should be a great fight leading us into the main event.

265lbs

Jonny "The Angel" Victorio (15-3-0) (Champion) vs. Carter "The Lion" Potter (22-10-0)

Main Event time and this one is for the Heavyweight title. Victorio has been on a real roll since he joined Crashforce, winning 11 of his 12 fights in the Org he has defended his belt 3 times so far since winning it at Cf.68: Red Storm. Not one of those title defenses, it came before Victorio won the belt, but Carter has faced Victorio before, back at Cf.58: Fight Globe and on that occasion he was submitted by the future champion. This fight is for much bigger stakes then that first meeting, now the belt is on the line and seeing as Carter is now 32 years old his chances of getting the belt are getting limited so he needs to take this one. Both fighters are great specimens of skill. Victorio has Sensational Boxing, Wonderful Muay Thai, Exceptional Wrestling and a Brown belt while Carter is almost his equal but not quite. He has Exceptional Boxing, Superb Muay Thai, Wonderful Wrestling and a Brown belt which already puts him behind the eight ball but the differences are only small and it should in no way be said that he doesn't have a chance, when you have scored 22 wins you always have a chance! Both fighters are very good at ending fights and there is little reason to think that one of them won't do it here too its just a case of which one? Well the advantage has to go to Victorio, he is the champion, has better skills and has a previous win over Carter but being an underdog means people can overlook you and Carter will be hoping that is the case in this fight too. Both fighters have scored a few wins via submission in their time but I can't see either one looking for another here given their Jits being so well matched, and Carter will be thinking about the submission loss in the first fight no doubt so I think this will be contested on feet and I hate calling those fights as all it takes is one punch or kick to swing the balance but I think that Victorio will have just too much for the old warrior Carter but I have been very wrong in the past, whatever the result I'm sure this will be a great end to what is looking like a great event!

Cf.89: Northern Lights Preview by Kurt Hustle

When is 2 better then 1? When its titles on the line and on 10th of February the 6000 seat Kamppi Arena will witness just that as it is the location for Cf.89: Northern Lights. That's right Crashforce will have both Welterweight and Lightweight titles up for grabs in one night as two huge co-main events are contested. With that headlining and a great set of other fights on the card lets just jump right in and get on with the review while we can shall we.

155lbs

Matt "Myllyttäjä" Mylly (12-15-0) vs. Sakari Watts (5-5-0)

The event begins at Lightweight and see's two men with great stats but an inability to finish a fight. Between them they have been to the judges 26 times out of 37 fights and there is little to suggest this won't be number 27 either. Stats wise they are both great, Mylly lacks just Muay Thai but compensates with Sensational Boxing and Exceptional Wrestling plus a Purple belt while Watts lacks nothing, he has Exceptional Boxing and Muay Thai as well as Wonderful Wrestling and a Brown belt. So on paper this is a hell of a fight, but the reality is both men don't finish fights so it may well be a war of attrition with the winner being the one who can outlast his opponent and score crucial points come the last round and that favors Mylly as he has done it so many times before but Watts despite not having as many fights has won proportionally more of them inside the time and with his Brown belt may be looking for a submission which Mylly has been a bit suspect on defending before.

170lbs

"Vellu" Veli Pirinen (8-5-0) vs. "The Grim Reaper" Manny Calavera (4-8-1)

Moving up to Welterweight next and this one see's two fighters who have not settled down yet in Crashforce. Both are looking for their first win in the Org but only one can get it here. Calavera has the stand up to get it done no doubt, with his Elite Boxing and Wonderful Muay Thai he is formidable to stand with but its his Wrestling and BJJ that are his undoing as they are relatively low. Pirinen has a little weaker stand up with Remarkable Boxing and Muay Thai but he doe shave a better ground game and that may be his key to victory. Standing its going to be Calavera who dominated but if the fight goes down it really does favor Pirinen given his Brown belt and the fact he has a few submissions under his belt already. All depends where the fight takes place but since it starts standing I have to give Calavera a slight advantage for this one.

185lbs

Mark Robbins (6-6-0) vs. Smooth "THE DEVASTATOR" Operator (10-7-0)

Up to Middleweight next and this should be a cracker. Robbins is a great all rounder, his best asset is his Boxing which is Elite but his other skills are not to be sniffed at given they are Remarkable/Remarkable/Brown belt this gives him a great chance no matter how the fight is contested. Operator is more specialized, his Sensational Boxing is what he uses to win fights while his other skills have suffered a little from neglect as they are more just for defense. Looking at the skills of both men its most likely to be a gold old fashioned slugfest but Robbins does have the skill to throw in a surprise takedown and submission which is something that Operator will have to be wary of. Operator also, despite having slight inferior Boxing can KO people but his moral is a little low at the moment which I hope is sorted come fight time as if not it may hurt his chances, as although Robbins could do with a boost too he come sin with a better chance right now.

170lbs

"Deathperado" Adrian Desper (7-8-0) vs. "Le Marquis" Donatien Alphonse Francois de Sade (8-3-0)

Back to Welterweight again for the next bout and this one is contested between two fighters who have fought at different weights in the past. Desper started at Middleweight before dropping to Welter and has had mixed success thus far while de Sade went the other way, starting at Lightweight and going up to Welter where he has enjoyed moderate success. Stats wise it goes to Desper, the only thing he trails in is Muay Thai but the differences in all area's are very small so shouldn't play too much of a difference in the over all scheme of the fight. De Sade does have a really good record of (T)KO people which may worry Desper especially since he has been stopped inside the distance several times while his opponent has yet to be finished but Desper does have overall better stats then a lot of past opponents that de Sade has faced so he will be looking to be the first. The best chance for Desper may well be getting the fight down where his Brown belt can go head to head with the Purple belt of his opponent and factor in that he has won 3 times via submission in the past and this one could make it 4. Standing its more even but that is how de Sade wins fights so it may not be such a good thing to stand with him for opponents. Should be a good fight to see.

185lbs

Jesse Jalkalukko (10-9-0) vs. Wanadi "The Bull" De Santana (15-7-0)

Back to Middleweight again and this one see's Crashforce debutant De Santana take on Hall of Fame member Jalkalukko. It should be a hell of a fight, both are brilliant at what they do and I for one am excited to see how it goes down. Jalkalukko will want this one on the ground. His Brown belt vastly overpowers the Blue belt of his opponent and if he can get it down it should be a formality for him. There is a big danger in not getting the fight down for Jalkalukko and that is his fight history. Despite just about having as good primary stand up skills, Jalkalukko has been (T)KO'ed in the past 7 times while De Santana has scored 9 (T)KO wins and with Exceptional Boxing and Sensational Muay Thai he will know there is a chance to make that 10 here and get off to a good winning start in Crashforce. Since one fighter wants to stand while the other wants to grapple Wrestling will be key and that gives a slight advantage to Jalkalukko as his Sensational Wrestling stacks up better then the Exceptional of De Santana but with so little a differences it will likely be more down to the Secondaries and game plan of each fighter that determines where this fight is played out. I have to give a little advantage to the newcomer De Santana to be honest, the fight will start on feet and that's where he likes it, its up to his opponent to take him down before he can take him out but whatever the result this should be a cracker!

170lbs

Henrik Luhtanen (10-6-1) vs. Juho Pennanen (5-4-0)

The main card begins at Welterweight and see's two men who have had mixed fortune as of late. Pennanen is a beast for his age, just 22 years old and yet he has Sensational Boxing, Remarkable Muay Thai and Wrestling plus a Blue belt, but recently he has found it hard to finish off opponents and has lost out on the judges card at the end of the fight. Luhtanen can not match those stats of his opponent, his best skill is his Boxing which is Exceptional but the rest of his skills are relatively weak just Respectable and Strong but he does have a Purple belt in BJJ. So if these two were debuting you'd say its Pennanen all day long but you have to look deeper then that and with his recent bad luck with judges its not so obvious that the youngster will win. No doubt he comes in as a big favorite on paper but if Luhtanen gets his Boxing going or if he even puts his BJJ to some use, assuming he can score a takedown at some point, the story of the fight may be a lot different. I lean towards Pennanen winning this one but given his recent run of luck in fights I am not going to suggest placing huge amounts on him!

155lbs

Reiska Rakennusmies (13-6-0) vs. Paris Rozario (10-4-2)

Down to Lightweight next and this one see's another fighter making his debut. Rozario comes to Crashforce quite late in his career, 30 years old now he will want to make an immediate impact but he won't have an easy time in his first fight. Rakennusmies is on a roll, winning his first 2 fights in the org he will want that to become a winning streak here but stats wise these two are very even. Rozario has better Muay Thai and Wrestling but Rakennusmies has better Boxing and BJJ so its tough to call what each fighter will do. I suspect that Rozario will wan to use his Muay Thai and possibly Clinch up the fight looking to avoid being out Boxed or taken down where his Purple belt puts him at a disadvantage against the Brown of his opponent. Rakennusmies normally uses his Boxing to finish fights but he can submit people if he needs to and has done so in the past but against a man with better Wrestling getting the takedown won't be so easy. Most likely he will look to score another (T)KO on feet, but as I said already he has to watch for the Clinch as his Muay Thai is way below the level of Rozario. Something that could tip this fight and needs to be watched out for is energy levels. Rozario is working hard in the gym right now but he needs to come in 100% to be most effective and still has to fly from Amsterdam and although it's a short way and the energy cost is little unless he backs off the training soon he may not come into the fight at max effectiveness giving Rakennusmies a huge boost. Right now I am giving my advantage to Rakennusmies, he is on a good run and is better prepared right now for the fight but that is not to say Rozario can't be by the time the bell rings!

155lbs

"The spartan" Emilio Viagra (15-6-0) vs. "Latino Heat" Hector Cabrera (22-9-0)

Staying at Lightweight and this one is looking epic. If there is one person I wouldn't want to meet angry its Viagra. Elite Boxing is backed up with Sensational Wrestling and a Black belt in BJJ, infact his only weakness is his Muay Thai which is just Proficient. Cabrera is no slouch when it comes to skills himself, Exceptional/Remarkable/Exceptional/Brown looks damn good to me. This is what I love about the game we all play, the challenges. Logic says that Viagra is an overwhelming favorite but you can never count out a man who has 22 win under his belt and I am sure Cabrera has a plan for the fight so lets try and have a guess. I would think Muay Thai is the best bet, trying to take down such a good grappler would be challenging and possibly fool hardy but with Viagra not having the best Muay Thai it's a way in for Cabrera who if he can get a Clinch may be able to control the action and dominate the fight. This is something I am sure that Viagra is thinking about and planning against, and given his other skills being so good I wouldn't bet against his plan working well. With the majority of his wins coming via (T)KO and his opponent being pretty good on the ground too I think that Viagra may well look for a stand up war where he can make his Boxing advantage tell, that does bring the problem of possible Clinch's but it may be work taking the risk given Cabrera's short showing he has been (T)KO'ed 4 times in the past. I suspect this may go the distance, both fighters are experienced and may well give each other a little too much respect to go for the kill as they will fear getting countered. I think this may well be fight of the night to be honest, a definite must see for me and I think for lots of other people too!

170lbs title fight

Rocky Mercurius (14-3-0) (Champion) vs. "The Dodgy Uncle" Alun James (20-9-0)

Co-Main Even time now and this one is a rematch for the Welterweight title. These two first clashed over the title at Cf.85: Magical when Mercurius retained his title via a majority decision from the judges. James was not happy about that and so a rematch was made for tonight's event. If you are not happy with the judges then do you know the best way to sort it out? Finish the fight before you make them choose! I suspect that is what James may be looking to do in this fight. Last time both men tried to do a bit of everything. Punching, kicking, Clinch, GnP the fight had it all but one thing it didn't have was much accuracy. As far as I see Mercurius took it because although he threw less he landed proportionally more so if James wants to void that again he needs to be more accurate and tighten up his Boxing and GnP. Mercurius did especially well on the ground during the fight, scoring the majority of his position advances that is something that James will have to watch for if he takes the fight down and looks for a submission again, its hard to finish a guy if you are not in the right position, especially the champion and that was a tough lesson to learn but it will be interesting to see if he has improved the key aspects of his game. Mercurius has dominated the division since his arrival, on an 8 fight win streak right now this will be his 4th title defense against a familiar opponent but that's no guarantee of victory, James too knows what he did wrong the last time also and what is needed this time, it's a fight that can go either way and makes a fitting lead in to the big one.

155lbs title fight

Colt Riley (12-1-0) (Champion) vs. Dell Trotter (15-6-1)

Main Event of the night comes in the form of a battle for the Lightweight title and see's Riley make his 2nd title defense since taking the belt. Looking at Riley you'd think he was a straight up dangerous GnP man given his Elite Wrestling and Brown belt but in reality he is a very good exponent of the Clinch and has taken several fights using that area of the fight game despite his Proficient Muay Thai and Wonderful Boxing not being the best looking stats. Trotter looks very much like what he is, a very good Boxer and ground fighter. With his Sensational Boxing he is a danger to stand with especially when you have inferior stats to him but going to ground with him is not advisable either, many of his fights have seen him dominate the ground and score good victories by pounding out his opponent which is what you'd expect to see from the champion more but Trotter has Exceptional Wrestling and a Brown belt of his own so he is no push over. Given that his own Muay Thai is worse then his opponents I suspect he will want no part of the Clinch, all he needs to do is look at the fight history of his opponent if he doesn't believe me to see what happens to people who don't respect the Clinch of Riley, and if he doesn't fancy taking on an Olympic level Wrestler in a takedown battle then his other option would be to stay on the outside and out punch his opponent which given his Boxing could well be the way to go. However this one goes down it should be a great end to a great event like always here in Crashforce.

Cf.90: CF Noire Preview by Kurt Hustle

Its that time again, the fans are getting ready and the fighters pumped for Cf.90: CF Noire. With another great poster to accompany the huge main event this should be a hell of an event which will be held in the 6000 seat Kamppi Arena over in Helsinki. So lets jump right in to the action and see what is in store.

170lbs

"Slick Willy" Owen William (3-4-0) vs. Dean "Mr. Nipple" Fay (6-5-0)

Opening fight is at Welterweight and see's the young take on the old for a second time. William is only 20 years old but out there fighting already while his opponent is 28 years old but still not that experienced. These two have faced off before at Cf.70 with Fay coming out on top. Now, like then, William is going to want to avoid is the ground, he has just a Blue belt while Fay has a Brown and the last time they faced off he was submitted. With inferior Wrestling that may look like a likely outcome again for William but if he can keep this on feet he may have a chance, however small. Stand up is even but its going to be William's only chance. Its looking like another win for Fay but in the fight game you just never can tell for sure.

"Black" Jack Fargloom (4-1-0) vs. Nomi "Sissy" Mae (8-9-0)

This should be a good fight. Mae has really under achieved in his career thus far, with Wonderful Boxing, Wrestling and a Brown belt he should have been winning a lot more then he has done but that hasn't been a problem for Fargloom. He is somewhat of an enigma, with Elite Wrestling you'd think he was a GnP machine but in reality he is much more happy in the Clinch despite his somewhat limited Muay Thai stat of Proficient. With Mae having a Brown belt and Fargloom just a Blue I can't see that changing here either, but it's the old adage of do what works! If fooling people into falling for a Clinch then Dirty Boxing them to bits gets you wins then do it. Mae's best chance is to get this down but I just don't see him being able to do that and can only see one outcome a win for Fargloom.

"Kallis kuristaja" Antti Hirvi (11-8-1) vs. Urho "Ugi" Kukkamaa (11-11-0)

Kukkamaa makes his Crashforce debut in this fight and is looking to snap a run of bad results. Hirvi has had a few problems himself recently in putting some wins together so both men have something to prove here. Its looking like a stand-N-bang vs. submission artist fight. Kukkamaa has excellent stand up skills, Exceptional Boxing and Muay Thai, but is weaker on the ground with a Purple belt. Hirvi however is a very dangerous man to be on the ground with, Wonderful Wrestling backs up a Black belt in BJJ but so far he has only subbed 1 person, his other wins have come via his Exceptional Muay Thai. Its tough to call this, if it does go down then I fully expect Hirvi to add another win to his record via submission but if Kukkamaa can keep this fight on feet then he has a real chance of breaking his losing run and making his first Cf fight a winning one. These two have been to the judges a lot in their careers and I think this may go there again and that will mean the result is anyone's to guess.

155lbs

Brad "The Technician" Ryan (19-15-0) vs. Warren "The Warrior" Adams (23-10-0)

This looks like a great fight between two very experienced fighters. Adams started his career like a train, going 18-0 before his first loss but since then he has struggled as younger fighters have come through and out pointed him in fights. Ryan has never had an amazing run of results but has been really solid his whole career and now these two submission experts face off for the first time. That's right between them they have 30 submission wins. I can only see this one being contested on the ground, it's the main trait of both fighters and while they have good stand up it's submissions that these two look for to end fights but with both sharing a Brown belt that may be hard to come by. Adams has better Wrestling (Exceptional vs. Remarkable) and that may be key here, this may all be decided by who gets the first takedown and if they can control the action to a pace they like and having better Wrestling will help with that. I am really looking forwards to a good grappling battle here as I think there is all too few of them around at the moment but who wins it I couldn't say.

265lbs

Chris "Wizard of Oz" Adebisi (10-4-0) vs. Anderson "Mantequilla" Romario (15-8-0)

Re-match time for these two. Adebisi made his debut in Crashforce facing Romario and lost via the judges and now he has a good chance of redeeming himself and avenging that loss. It was a horrible fight for Adebisi, he was cut up badly and just really worked over with punches, kicks and knees so he really needs to come up with a new game plan here. The only advantage Romario has is his Muay Thai, it's vastly superior to his opponents and it's that which carried him to the win last time out, Boxing, Wrestling and BJJ he Is no match which should give Adebisi a good chance but then again it didn't last time, but he has experience now and I'm sure won't make the same mistake as last time of being too defensive and not aggressive enough. Adebisi has to keep this on the outside or take it down to the floor, if he gets Clinched he will get decimated again for sure which is exactly what Romario will be looking for as he tries to rebound from two losses which has left his moral at rock bottom. If that isn't sorted then revenge may well be coming for Adebisi.

155lbs

Keni "NeoNinja" Susi (16-13-0) vs. Malvin "Parhaiten" Maldi (21-12-0)

What looks like the second grapple battle of the evening kicks off the main card. Both these two have a Black belt in BJJ and plenty of submission to go with it (29 to be exact). Maldi lost his Crashforce debut fight last time out and is now looking to get his first win in his new home but wins in this Org don't come easy! While on the ground these two are evenly matched, standing its Maldi who has a solid advantage, he sports Exceptional Boxing and Remarkable Muay Thai which outclasses Susi's Wonderful/Respectable but I doubt very much that a lot of this fight will be fought on the feet, between them only once has fight been won via TKO. With it looking so likely to go to the ground it will likely hinge on who gets the first takedown but that almost impossible to tell as both men have Exceptional Wrestling and since I don't know their secondaries or game plans I can't say for sure who is the more likely but if you ask me the man who gets that first takedown will have a bigger say on how each round goes then the guy fighting off their back. Susi comes in on a high off the back of a win while Maldi lost his last fight but his moral is still high meaning there is little effect in either fighters favor. Should be a top class fight worth tuning in for!

205lbs

Simo Silakka (9-4-0) vs. Odin "Óðinn" Fredriksson (16-9-1)

If you look up beast you will see a picture of these two fighters next to it and now we get to see them face off! Silakka comes in with Wonderful Boxing, Sensational Muay Thai, Exceptional Wrestling and a Brown belt in BJJ all at the age of 23! Fredriksson is a Crashforce Hall of Fame member and for good reason, former Light Heavyweight champion and like his opponent with stats to drool over Exceptional Boxing, Remarkable Muay Thai, Sensational Wrestling and a Brown belt in BJJ he has done it all. Now though it's time to face what I see as a young him and test his mettle against the next generation. It's so hard to say what either fighters plan will be, Fredriksson has shown in the past he is comfy doing it all, he has scored (T)KO wins as well as Submission so it doesn't really matter to him how the fight is fought. Silakka has KO Power to spare, he has stopped many an opponent with both his hands and feet knocking their lights out and often in the first round. Given that Fredriksson has been (T)KO'ed 5 times in the past I don't think he will want to exchange for too long with an opponent who has such a rep for ending fights, more likely if I was to bet he would prefer to take this fight down and see if he can pick up another submission win. Silakka will want it up end on the feet I suspect, a scalp like this would look good on his resume and surely get him a step closer to the title he wants so much while extending his good run of wins. Fredriksson needs to snap a run of losses and I'm sure would dearly love to put a young gun in his place while doing so. This looks like a possible fight of the night to me!

170lbs

Chris "The Inverse Midas" Herzog (17-9-0) vs. Keke "Hammer" Pummel (8-4-0)

If there is one thing to say about Herzog it's that he is hard to finish but unlucky with he judges. I talk from experience here as I have fought him twice with my own fighter. Stats wise he is great, he has spread his skills out with Wonderful Boxing backed up with Superb Muay Thai for the stand up and Exceptional Wrestling and a Brown belt as his main weapon for getting wins. Pummel is very different however, his main focus is in his Boxing which is Sensational and his other skills are more after thoughts, Strong Muay Thai, Remarkable Wrestling and just a Blue belt in BJJ. Its obvious what both fighters will look for in this one, Herzog knows he can submit this opponent, he has scored 10 submission wins in his career and given his much better BJJ it wouldn't be much of a problem here. Pummel knows that he is no match on the ground but with his Boxing if he can sprawl well enough and often enough he has a chance to do what only one other person has done to Herzog and score a TKO win against him. That is the problem for Pummel, Herzog has a chin like stone and it's debatable if Pummel has the power to crumble it, of course you don't need to finish your opponent to win, you just have to make sure you outscore them come the end of the fight which is what has hampered Herzog for a long time. If Herzog gets a takedown with enough time to work I can see him winning and moving towards another title shot but if Pummel can keep it upright then I am not sure how Herzog is going to win it.

170lbs

Jackson "Master" Savage (17-10-0) vs. Mercutio Benvolio (11-7-0)

Getting close to the main event now and this see's the Cf debut of Savage. A while ago he couldn't buy a win but now he has really turned all that around and won 6 of his last 7 fight including his last 4 in a row and now he is looking to carry that on in his new Org. Benvolio is a veteran of Cf and not that long ago even challenged for the Welterweight title but came up short, now though he is looking to earn his way into another shot and a win here would do nicely in that quest. Benvolio's best chance of doing that is his Sensational Muay Thai, it has seen him to some good wins which it needs to do as his other skills are not that great, just Strong for Boxing and Wrestling and a Purple belt. Savage will see that as a great opportunity, he has submitted his last 4 opponents in a row and will see this as a great chance to add a 5th. His Boxing is no better then Benvolio, just Strong, but its his Wrestling and BJJ which gives him an advantage, Wonderful/Brown belt has seen him to 13 submission wins so far in his career and there is nothing to suggest he can't pick up another. So this is looking very much like battle of submission vs. Muay Thai but I have to give the advantage to Savage, he comes in not just on the back of some solid wins but also Benvolio has a bit of a problem with his moral at the moment, despite winning his last 2 fights his moral is low and really needs to be sorted out before the fight if he is going t make it 3 in a row. Savage also has made it onto my favorites list due to pulling off a Triple Decker Pecker Wrecker in the past and anyone who can do that gets a big thumbs up from me!

185lbs title fight

"Global Killer" Anabol Asteroid (24-10-1) (Champion) vs. "The Pole" Mike Horner (14-7-0)

Main Event time and this should be a great one. Asteroid is once again defending his Middleweight title and looking to extend his winning run which currently stands at 7 in a row! Horner is making his second challenge for the title but this will be the first time he has taken on Asteroid and he may prove one of the biggest challenges yet. Both of these men are very evenly matched stats wise, both have Sensational Boxing and Wonderful Muay Thai but the champion does have a small advantage in both Wrestling and BJJ (Wonderful/Brown vs. Remarkable/Purple) but I can't see this being anything other then a stand up war. Neither fighter has ever submitted anyone in the past and I can't see either being confident enough to try it here, much more likely they will stick with what has been working and stand-N-bang it out. That should be a sight to see, Asteroid has really made a rep for himself of being able to finish just about anyone who is put in front of him and he will want to do that again early in this one given his opponents skill set matching his so well. Horner doesn't have the same rep for stopping people as the champion does but that doesn't mean he can't do it, but the majority of his win have come from the judges and his work rate in the fight being high which may be a good strategy to take here but it does have its danger against a striker as good as Asteroid. I think this will be a great main event to a great show but I just can't see this being Horner's day to take down the champion to be honest, he has proved so many times he is the king of the Middleweight division and I think he will add just another victim here too.

Cf.91: Perdition Preview by Kurt Hustle

Crashforce goes all religious on 24th of Feb with the event Cf.91: Perdition. An awesome event poster combines with an awesome card to showcase what looks like a treat to be held in the 6000 Kamppi Arena in Helsinki. With the Light Heavyweight title on the line in the main event and a host of other top notch fights lined up I don't want to delay too long so lets get right into the thick of the action.

185lbs

"Nasty" Nate Barker (7-5-0) vs. "Ghibli" Hayao Miyazaki (6-5-1)

Opening fight of the night comes in the Middleweight division and see's two excellent Boxers square off. Both men have put their all into their Boxing stats, but it's Barker who has a slight edge there, his Elite Boxing outclassing the Sensational of Miyazaki slight. Everywhere else they are very even, both have BJJ Blue belts and Respectable Muay Thai but again Barker has a little advantage in Wrestling too (Superb vs. Proficient) but that won't come into play I doubt. This will all be about Boxing and who has the faster and harder hitting hands and that would lead me to say Barker has the better chance of getting the win, he has scored 7 (T)KO wins and been (T)KO'ed 3 times while Miyazaki has a record of just 3 (T)KO wins and 4 (T)KO losses. Odds say Barker but when it's close like this nothing is for sure.

185lbs

Kalema "Ph" Kirunda (17-12-0) vs. Lassi Lambada (5-5-0)

If there is one thing to say about these two fights it's they have not reached their potential. Stats wise they are beasts but their records are not those of killers. Kirunda's problem has been that despite having Elite Boxing, Exceptional Muay Thai and Wrestling plus a Purple belt he just hasn't been able to finish enough fights, the majority of his wins and losses have come via the judges. Lambada has never gone the distance but his chin and heart is suspect. 5 times he has (T)KO'ed his opponent but also 5 times has he been (T)KO'ed himself and with stats like Wonderful Boxing and Muay Thai, Exceptional Wrestling and a Brown belt that's not a great return. With the better stand up its hard to see Kirunda doing anything other then trying to put work his opponent on feet while Lambada may well try to submit his opponent given he has been subbed 4 times in the past and has inferior BJJ. Both men have had their struggles in Cf so far and need this win but only one can get it and I have a sneaky suspicion it will be the judges who make the call.

205lbs

Luciano "The Talent" Bivar (5-1-0) vs. "The Terminator" Gaz Passmoor (11-12-0)

Two very talented ground fighters face off next. Both men have a history of submission victories but for Bivar that may have to change for this fight if he is to win. Bivar has Wonderful Wrestling and a Brown belt which has seen him to 5 sub wins thus far but now in Passmoor he faces someone with Exceptional Wrestling and a Black belt which he has used to submit 8 people. So given that it's probably not advisable for Bivar to trade grapples but he has something else at his disposal which may tip the balance, Exceptional Muay Thai. Passmoor has Wonderful Boxing but has never really used it and, much more worrying for him, he has been (T)KO'ed 8 times in the past showing he is suspect if you get to his head. Bivar's best chance will be to out strike his opponent here using his Muay Thai while Passmoor needs this down where his superior BJJ and Wrestling should carry him to victory. Will be interesting to see what approach both men take but at the moment I'd give the slight advantage to Bivar.

205lbs

"The President" Buer Eremiel (10-7-0) vs. Nikolay Grigoriev (17-6-0)

Next up see's a fighter who is built for the ground against a fighter who is built for the feet. Eremiel looked like the next big thing once upon a time, cutting people up badly he looked like a killer but he has hit some tough times recently and now needs to bounce back and string some wins together using his Wonderful Boxing and Exceptional Muay Thai. Grigoriev is more suited to the ground these days, he has Wonderful Wrestling and a Brown belt while his once mighty Boxing has withered badly. The plan is going to be fairly simple to work out I would think, Eremiel will look to use his Boxing and Muay Thai to finish his opponent before he can be taken down and submitted or pounded out which has been his Achilles heel recently and is a real danger of happening again given his Superb Wrestling and Purple belt. Grigoriev may still have the secondaries to do damage on feet for all I know but his primary in the stand up is poor now and I can't see him wanting to stay in a brawl for too long but that said I still think that Eremiel may have the advantage and just too much for him despite having trouble with submission recently.

185lbs

Wanadi "The Bull" De Santana (15-8-0) vs. "Pistol" Pete Palahniuk (5-0-0)

This should be a great fight in prospect. The only thing that De Santana is missing is a better grappling game all his other skills are great but his BJJ is only at Blue belt level but then again, when you have Exceptional Boxing and Wrestling as well as Sensational Muay Thai there is a silver lining to what is lacking. Palahniuk has great stats of his own and an unblemished record to go with it. Sensational Boxing is backed by Superb Muay Thai, Wonderful Wrestling and a Purple belt but something that he lacks is the ability to finish fights it seems. Of his 5 wins so far all but 1 has been via the judges and he may have the same problem here given the skills of his opponent here. De Santana lost his first fight in Cf and wants to get the latest stage of his career on track quickly while Palahniuk is looking to extend his run and possibly push towards a title shot in his near future and the best chance he has of that may reside on the ground. With his better BJJ belt he may be able to keep his opponent stifled and earn his way to another points win because while he has the better Boxing he may not want to stand too long with De Santana as he has a more varied attack. This is probably the biggest test for Palahniuk thus far but I think he may be able to come through it.

185lbs

"The Russian Experiment " Marco Dragonov (9-2-0) vs. Chris Crocker (11-8-0)

Two very evenly matched fighters come face to face in the opening fight of the main card. Dragonov is coming fresh off a challenge for the Middleweight title which he lost via the judges so now he is looking to earn another shot. Crocker has had a mixed bag of a career, several wins in a row have been followed by several losses but now he is looking to put a run together and make a charge for the title himself. When I said they were evenly matched I meant it, Dragonov has Wonderful Boxing, Exceptional Muay Thai, Remarkable Wrestling and a Purple belt while Crocker has Exceptional Boxing, Remarkable Muay Thai, Superb Wrestling and a Purple belt. There is something that differentiates these two more though and that the ability to finish fights. Dragonov has only finished his opponent twice and been the to the judges 9 times in all while Crocker has been the distance 7 times in all and finished 8 opponents thus far. I can see this one going all the way too, its hard to say what either fighter will be looking for as they are capable of doing anything and its due to that I suspect neither will be able to finish the other and it will come down to who has out worked the other.

185lbs

Uncle Rico (16-10-0) vs. Matti Teppo (13-6-0)

This one is a rematch from Cf.71 where Teppo won to earn himself a title shot, he was unsuccessful in the title fight but now he will be hoping that he can repeat the success he had over Rico again and put himself back in line for another shot. Stats wise Rico can't match up with Teppo but that didn't really hold him back that much in their last fight which went the distance and he will be hoping he has learn enough to overcome the skill advantage Teppo has here. Teppo, for his part, will be looking to do what he does best and just use his skills to dominate the fight in all area's and with Sensational Boxing, Remarkable Muay Thai, Exceptional Wrestling and a Black belt in BJJ its not that hard to do. Rico can't match any of that Wonderful Boxing is the best he can offer with Remarkable Wrestling plus a Brown belt while his Muay Thai is just Mediocre which is a huge disadvantage. There is also something else hampering Rico's chances and that his moral, right now it's a rock bottom and a fighter who's head is a mess can't perform at anything like full efficiency so that needs addressing as much as possible come fight time but with everything against him as it is I just can't see Rico being able to overcome Teppo on this show.

205lbs

Aarne "The Terror of Morocco" Juutilainen (14-10-0) vs. "Mean Mugging" John Malham (10-5-0)

Two excellent fighters face off next and this one is tough to call. Juutilainen is a beast to look at Sensational Boxing, Exceptional Muay Thai, Elite Wrestling and a Brown belt all scream winner but Juutilainen's problem in his career has been the judges, of his 10 losses 9 have come via them and it says while he is extremely skilled he has trouble using that in the cage. Malham has no trouble with he judges, he has been before them 6 times and won 5 of those decisions and while less skilled then his opponent here he is still a dangerous fighter with Sensational Boxing, Wonderful Muay Thai, Exceptional Wrestling and a Brown belt. Both fighters have also demonstrated they have the ability to finish fights from anywhere. Both have scored wins via (T)KO and submission meaning neither favors one style over any other and that makes predicting what each fighters game plan will be much harder. I suspect that there will be more stand up then there will ground action due to how similar they are on the mat and their previous records (neither has been submitted before) and I think the key may well be down to who is the more aggressive fighter and who can take the chances they get in the fight. At the moment I am leaning towards Juutilainen for some reason but the more I think the less sure I am of who is my favorite for the win.

185lbs

Liu Bei (12-8-0) vs. Pentti Hirvonen (18-12-0)

When you talk about a ground fighter you are talking Hirvonen. With a Red belt in BJJ you can't get much better and he backs that up with Exceptional Wrestling to help get the fight down to the ground making him a dangerous man to face if you are looking to avoid getting submitted and that is just what Bei will want to avoid. Bei is very much a stand up fighter, his Exceptional Boxing is his main asset and key to victory. So its very much a fight between stand up and ground so Wrestling is the key and unfortunately for Bei his is inferior, just Wonderful compared to the Exceptional of Hirvonen as I mentioned before. Bei does have a good record of (T)KOing opponents though which will give him hope and despite his BJJ Hirvonen has not gotten as many submission as you would expect, just 11 out of his 18 wins. Bei does just have a Purple belt though and the opponents who Hirvonen has struggled to finish have generally had at least Brown belts in the past. Both men's plans are obvious, Bei will want to sprawl and brawl while Hirvonen wants it down and over with quickly to avoid the risk of getting stopped by a better Boxer, although his own Boxing is Wonderful. Normally I side with the stand up guy as all fights start upright but this time I just think the fight will go down at some point and when it does there can be only one winner there. Hirvonen is my favorite but Bei always has the punchers chance!

205lbs title fight

Cookie Monster (17-4-1) (Champion) vs. Demian Silva (14-8-0)

Main event time and this one see's Monster looking to defend the belt he made such an impact winning for the fight time. He took the title in his very first fight in Crashforce at Cf.87 and now looks to start a dominant reign as champion and its hard to bet against him doing that. The only thing he lacks is BJJ, just a Blue belt there but his other skills make up for it with Exceptional Wrestling and Muay Thai but his main asset is his Elite Boxing which has seen him notch up 16 (T)KO wins so far. Silva can't match the champ in terms of stand up skills, his Boxing and Muay Thai are Remarkable and Wonderful respectively and his Wrestling is even further behind at jus Strong but he does have a huge advantage in BJJ where his Brown belt makes him a far more dangerous fighter on the mat. Its going to take a huge effort for him to wrestle the title away from the champion and it's the BJJ that is the key here, standing he has no chance if you ask me, Monster is just too good at (T)KOing people and his skills are just not good enough, but with relatively weak Wrestling too its hard to see how he will get the fight down to be able to use his superior BJJ to his advantage. Monster's plan is obvious, just go out there and punch Silva's lights out like he has done so many times in the past to other people. To be honest this one should be an easy win for Monster but in this game nothing comes easy and there always has to be a caution when you are confident that you don't get complacent but I don't think that will happen here with Monster.

Cf.92: Body Punch! Preview by Marky Mark

Before we get things really started, I'd like to strongly mention CF is looking for a writer to continue the great work Kurt Hustle has been doing. Unfortunately due to the real life matters Kurt is unavailable for the job now, so if you feel you got what it takes or are just enthusiastic to try it out, throw me a PM and let's talk! And yes, besides getting to enjoy writing, you will also get paid for it! Magnificent, eh?

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand now! It's that time again, Crashforce will be invading the 6000 seater Kamppi Arena in Helsinki on 2nd of March with the event dubbed as Cf.92: Body Punch!. Hide the women and children, it's gonna get ugly!

265lbs

"Uknow" Ican Pumbleski (11-8-0) vs. Erik "Ej" Jones (8-4-0)

The show kicks off with a Heavyweight bout as Ican Pumbleski takes on Erik Jones. Standing up Jones would seem to have a sort of advantage since while both have Remarkable Boxing skills, Jones has also Remarkable level Muay Thai compared to Feeble of Pumbleski. However, Jones' MT has mainly been seen only by his sparring partners so that may very well be not so crucial in this fight and considering that fact it may very well be that the advantage standing up is actually Pumbleski's as he has heavy hands and he's more than willing to use them. Uknow, Pumbleski can knock people out, evidenced by the number 8 in his T(KO) wins column. Interestingly, Jones may have a cure for that in his Granite chin. Pumbleski seems to have his morale on the low side but there's still time to improve that if he wants to maximise his chances here. I suspect Jones will be looking to get the fight to the ground pretty fast and start working from there. Both guys have submitted people before, so we'll just have wait and see how it goes.

Blade Brown (8-5-1) vs. Arvo Pentti (3-1-0)

Blade Brown will be making his Crashforce debut here and I'm sure he's coming to show people his impressive standup skills as he boasts with Sensational Boxing and Exceptional Muay Thai. He's on a three fight winning streak and looking to make it four at the expense of his opponent. The opponent in question is a young lion (no, not you Potter, I said young) named Arvo Pentti. However, Pentti is not a stranger to the game of trading fists as he's backed by his Exceptional Boxing. In his young career his hands have seen quite a lot of action, peppering his opponents, consuming them until they have folded. In his last fight and the only loss thus far he was dominating until the late 3rd when he got stopped. Brown may be looking for that same opening here. Pentti does have an advantage with his Superb Wrestling and Purple Belt compared to Brown's Mediore and Blue but we have not yet seen him utilize ground work in his fights so it is a bit of an enigma how successful he will be in his takedown attempts should be choose to take them. And in my mind it is advisable to do so as I'm sure Brown would love nothing more than add a KO in his resume here. I've been hearing Pentti has been living in the gym training furiously, but what exactly has he been training... Well, I don't know! Tricky, tricky!

Carl "The Fightmare" Weathers (11-9-0) vs. "The Rage" Kileki Kawike (20-13-0)

Next up is a Light Heavyweight contest featuring two guys who have gained valuable experience through countless battles. To me, this is simple. Carl Weathers will either a) strike Kawike senseless or b ) scream in pain and tap out. From that you may have gathered Weathers is the striker and Kawike is the grappler. The Fightmare loves to put people out standing, 8 of his 11 wins have come via T(KO) while his Remarkable Wrestling is mainly for defending the takedowns. And he will certainly have to use his wrestling in this one, maybe picking his shots countering or if he's confident in his clinchwork maybe to utilize the slight MT advantage he has, though there is always the takedown danger when clinching up. In any case, Weathers could really use a new set of clothes to cheer him up for this fight instead of having only dark thoughts. Kileki Kawike's main tools are his Wonderful Wrestling and a Black Belt in BJJ. Last time he was out it was an entertaining battle of ground positions and exchange of submission attempts which eventually brought Kawike a W. This time his opponent will surely be looking to stop the impending takedown from The Rage as going to ground with the submission artist is basically death. I'm leaning a bit towards Kawike's intelligence on the ground (and his 20 wins has to be respected) but in any case I think this is either KO or sub, can't see it going to the hand of the judges this time!

Pertti Apila (19-11-1) vs. Martin "The Tyrant" Eyre (11-8-0)

BOOM! Here comes Pertti Apila, making his debut in CF. Martin Eyre will be the man across him in the cage in this Heavyweight bout. Apila has had some hard times inside the cage lately but then again he has had high level opponents as well and giving them tough fights. He will be looking to show Eyre his mean face on Friday night and he certainly has the tools to be successful here, having Exceptional level Boxing and Wrestling, while his MT is Wonderful also. He does have a Brown Belt but I guess he uses it more for whipping in the bedroom than in the cage. He just doesn't care for that ground work nonsense too much. On the other hand, Eyre does care pretty much, as his belt is darker that Apila's. Black, that is. His job is to submit people and he does it very well, with 9 of his 11 wins have been by submission. Keep in mind though, Apila has never been submitted, and he has 31 fights. Then again the great majority of his fights have been against fellow strikers. Hmmm. While Eyre has Sensational Boxing to defend himself with, the key things might be to avoid the clinch at all costs and go for the takedown at some point, preferably before there is blood involved.

Ely Scott (15-10-0) vs. "Milla Magia" Erik Bajramaj (7-4-0)

Alright, we'll drop down to Light Heavyweight and it's time for a grappling showdown! Unless the managers in question read this and then go back to change their sliders, these guys will go for the takedown for sure. Both guys are capable strikers with Boxing (Wonderful vs Exceptional) and Muay Thai (Strong vs Superb) quite even but their main game is the GROUND game. The manly man with a questionable nickname, Milla Magia, was not favoured by the judges in his last fight which ended in a majority decision loss. However, it was a ground battle and it was against the ground wizard Kawike. That shows to me Bajramaj has guts and a strong belief in his ground work. The more experienced Ely Scott had a quick and slick victory last time he was competing: clinch, takedown, submission, tapout, go home with a pretty face and money in the pocket. There is a slight chance though that Bajramaj might fancy a little exchange of fists, himself not having been finished yet and his opponent has been down to that road before. Hmmm, I may have spilled out the surprise here! :)

170lbs

Gunnbjorn Ulfsson (11-6-0) vs. "The Dodgy Uncle" Alun James (20-10-0)

In the Welterweight division it is the farewell fight for The Dodgy Uncle. Alun James challenged the champ Mercurius fiercely, twice, but as the decisions were announced unfortunately for him he came up short both times. In any case, he has been more times on the winning side of decisions than losing. Why am I really talking about decisions? Because James has been to a decision 19 times out of his 30 fights. So the odds of that happening are pretty high again. And his opponent Gunnbjorn Ulfsson is no stranger to decisions himself. For sure Ulfsson will be wary of James' takedowns, having no interest to contest his Purple Belt in BJJ against a man with a Black one. I would expect what he would really like to do is to stay at distance and utilize his Exceptional level Muay Thai, kicks to be exact. To the legs, to the body, to the head. Kicks. That's his advantage over James. I'm sure James, being the more veteran fighter here, is full aware of this and builds his gameplan to avoid such thing. James probably has some advantage when the fight starts but does he have that still when the time is ticking closer to a decision time? Let's see!

265lbs

Jarppi "Grim Grin" Virne (10-11-0) vs. "Stabber" Rob Snitch (7-4-0)

Back to the Heavyweight jam! As some Scooter fan might yell out. Erm... yes, the big boys are next. A long time CF fighter Virne will meet the more recent acquisition Snitch. Virne is a well rounded fighter who has a tendency to take guys down and try to GNP them to the stone age. What in my mind is underutilized in his repertory is the striking game in general. He's actually got a good chin and KO power in his hands, so he could look for openings here even though the Stabber has a slight advantage in Boxing (Wonderful vs Exceptional). Grim Grin takes the MT advantage though. Snitch is well suited for ground game but as Virne is more or less at home on the ground he might fancy a standup battle. Both fighters seem to have several options for game plans so it's hard to predict what will happen. Well, that's why they will fight and we will watch. With popcorn and drinks.

205lbs

Kalle "Kyy" Kolmiokuristus (23-15-0) vs. Bob "Razor Sharp" Stroker (20-7-0)

Oh oh! As we're getting closer to the main event we have a very exciting Light Heavyweight battle coming up here! Now, the nickname Razor Sharp in itself does not bode well to Kyy who has been stopped via cuts in some previous fights. However as we look at Kolmiokuristus' clean shaved face, you would think he knows a thing or two about razors, mainly that they are not to play around with. Kyy has a massive 13 submission wins and will be looking to use his Sensational Wrestling against Stroker's Wonderful for a submission or GNP as well. It has to be mentioned though that Stroker has never been submitted. Stroker on the other hand has has a little tendency towards being on and off. If he's on, he's won. And now he's trying to build up a three fight win streak. I'll give Stroker a little advantage here for pure toughness but Kolmiokuristus is a dangerous opponent. That being said there is no doubt Kolmiokuristus will aim to take this fight to the ground. That being said there is no doubt Stroker will aim to keep this fight standing and go for the KO. Both fighters are worthy soldiers in their opponents area but kings of their own domains. Let's see if we can find the jester.

265lbs Co Main Event

Pekka "Punasolusprinkleri" Lipponen (14-5-0) vs. Buck "Shot" Blaze (10-5-0)

In this Heavyweight Co Main Event Buck Blaze is warmly welcomed to Crashforce. The warmth kind of suddenly disappears though as he's facing a hall of famer Pekka Lipponen. For Blaze it may be sensible to utilize his 14cm reach advantage. Combining that with his Exceptional Boxing and Exceptional Wrestling there might be the ingredients for a successful outcome. Having some power in his hands doesn't hurt either, which 9 (T)KO's out of 10 wins indicates. The former champion Lipponen has many tools to use in this fight but he may explore the opportunities in MT/BJJ areas in this fight where he has distinct advantage. At some point this fight will go to the ground and Lipponen having a Black Belt fancies his changes against a Purple of Blaze. Blaze has though displayed some ground and pound in some of his fights so he's not weaponless should the fight go to ground but for a taller man it's safer to not stay and play there for too long. As for outcome, I feel Blaze needs to hit Lipponen's chin hard (which he can do) for the KO, if not Lipponen takes it via sub or decision.

265lbs Main Event

"The Naturalist" Fedor Martinsson (11-3-0) vs. Mieczyslaw " " Grabowski (14-5-1)

Hooray! It's the Main Event time and man, somebody needs to give Grabowski a proper nickname! This Heavyweight fight will have serious title implications as we can now declare the winner will be given the chance to fight for the HW Title next. So, let's have a deeper look in the details. Martinsson comes in as a favourite having already once tried to snatch the HW Belt to himself but left with empty hands. Both guys have power in their hands and have displayed the ability to put people away. It is Muay Thai though where Martinsson is stronger and Grabowski has to be careful about that. Grabowski is the better wrestler having it at Exceptional level and while Martinsson has a Brown Belt in BJJ it seems to be more of a defensive one so there might be an avenue for Grabowski to take Martinsson down and use the heavy handed GNP skills he has shown to possess. One of the interesting points that may or may not affect the outcome is that by his own admission The Naturalist seems to be on a path of emulating a bloke called Nick Diaz in... no, not boxing but "smoking bud". So, will he be numb to pain and go crazy in this fight or will he be so mellow that he will allow Grabowski hit him in the face just because it's fun? What will the athletic commission say after the fight? Wait, we don't have a commission??? So many questions, on Friday night we will get some answers! And maybe a nickname to Grabowski.

Cf.93: Pulse Preview by Marky Mark

Hello boys and girls, stop making out and concentrate on the more important matters, such as the Crashforce Cf.93: Pulse event in the 5500 seater Malmi Sportshall in Helsinki on March 7th. If after tonight's event your pulse is not running... well I guess you're dead! Let's proceed to the preview shall we.

155lbs

Urho "Ugi" Kukkamaa (11-12-0) vs. Sakari Watts (5-6-0)

We get the party going by having an exciting Lightweight bout as Urho Kukkamaa faces Sakari Watts. Both guys are highly skilled in standup, they both have Exceptional Boxing and Exceptional MT skills. And stand up game is where I believe most of this fight will be contested. Kukkamaa hasn't had much luck with the judges lately, so he'll be coming to give Watts something to remember or should I say not remember... Kukkamaa has shown in the past he has the hands to rock people. Watts has a chin of granite though so he may be happy to exchange fists but it is the clinch and Kukkamaa's elbows he has to watch out for, granite chin won't help if you start bleeding badly. Watts is having a lot of tools in his arsenal and he may look to utilize his Wonderful Wrestling for the takedown and GNP Kukkamaa to another dimension.

155lbs

Warren "The Warrior" Adams (24-10-0) vs. Nomi "Sissy" Mae (8-10-0)

We remain in the Lightweight division for the next matchup where Warren Adams meets Nomi Mae. Now, if the nicknames were a factor in this fight, we would all know how it would end! Luckily for Sissy that's not the case ...I think. The Warrior is a submission machine in its true meaning, he's got 18 submission wins in his career already. Last time he was out he was very impressive, getting a quick submission in the first round against a man who makes his living submitting people. That being said, Mae is mainly a ground fighter himself. But he has the better standup game with Wonderful Boxing and Respectable MT and this would be a good opportunity to showcase these skills. He might do well to pepper Adams with shots before the fight goes to ground but if the fight stays on the ground for a longer time then I can see Adams getting a submission here.

185lbs

Jesse Jalkalukko (11-9-0) vs. Mark Robbins (7-6-0)

We move up to Middleweight division to see the hall of famer Jesse Jalkalukko take on the expert boxer Mark Robbins. Jalkalukko will be making his 21st appearance for this organization which in itself is worthy of high praise. Both guys are well rounded but still have one speciality, Robbins likes to box and Jalkalukko likes to take people down. Robbins has a 10cm reach advantage in this fights which may make it easier for him to land punches, however it may also play into the hands of Jalkalukko perhaps making it easier to get the takedown. This is sort of a grudge match as the guys actually faced each other at Cf.74 and the result was a controversial split decision, one judge giving the fight to Robbins clearly with 30-27 but the other two gave it to Jalkalukko 29-28. Very interesting to see how it plays out this time!

155lbs

"The spartan" Emilio Viagra (15-7-0) vs. Malvin "Parhaiten" Maldi (21-13-0)

Back to the Lightweight which sees Emilio Viagra taking on Malvin Maldi. Hopefully Parhaiten will not walk out with his usual techno song, as it really makes me want to kill myself. These two chaps here are highly skilled fighters, with Elite (Viagra) and Sensational (Maldi) level Boxing and both are Black Belts in BJJ as well. Now, it will be interesting to see which tactics both choose. Straight up fist fight Viagra probably has a little edge but most of his KO's have come via ground and pound. Maldi on the other hand thas 14 submission victories so if Viagra indeed will be looking to GNP, he should be very careful about it. Maldi has an advantage in his Muay Thai with Remarkable skills but will it be a factor remains to be seen. I doubt it but I've been wrong before.

185lbs

Hans Gruber (13-8-0) vs. "Iron" Mike Tyson (10-5-0)

It's Middleweight time again and we'll see the namesake of a certain Die Hard villain Hans Gruber exchanging blows with the namesake of a certain Bite Hard pugilist. Guns and pet Tigers are to be left outside of the cage. Both guys fancy the striking game, Tyson more by striking from outside with his Sensational Boxing while Gruber has Sensational MT to instigate the clinch attack and when he gets it he Does what he Does best. Both have Purple belts and while they have no submission victories they have displayed GNP skills when they have needed to. Using his Exceptional Wrestling Tyson has a good takedown percentage (64%) which may encourage him to avoid Gruber's MT by taking the fight to the ground, especially if he's stuck in the clinch. However, Tyson has never been finished so that fact alone may persuade him to trade fists and that's basically what all the Crashforce spectators really want to see!

265lbs

Carter "The Lion" Potter (22-11-0) vs. Arne "Paul" Riseman (10-6-1)

He, ha helelemama, Ohi’mbube He, ha helelemama, Ohi’mbube, in the jungle, the mighty jungle, the lion sleeps tonight. Indeed, it's time for Carter Potter to enter the arena! In this interesting Heavyweight bout he will take on Arne Riseman. Potter is a very experienced fighter and his hands have done a lot of talking on behalf of him. He's got 14 (T)KO wins while Riseman also has 7 (T)KO's of his 10 wins so I will be expecting a great slugfest! With his Elite Boxing I'd think Riseman wants to contest Potter's Exceptional Boxing and look for a good result throwing leather, whether it be via points, cuts or KO. While Potter may not have quite the level boxing Riseman has, he has power in his hands and a granite chin to withstand damage while giving back, which is a dangerous combination. Can't see this going to the ground.

185lbs

Dexter Morgan (17-7-0) vs. Junior "The Pot Predator" Paulista (11-6-0)

Junior Paulista had a good debut last time out and now he's trying to climb up the ladder at the expense of his opponent Dexter Morgan. On paper the skillsets of these two fighters are pretty even. The most noticeable difference comes in form of height (30cm), which Morgan has over Paulista giving him a significant reach advantage. However the knockout power advantage will go to Paulista, having KO'd his opponent 10 times out of 11 wins. Both have attacking tools in the clinch as well. Morgan has shown to be a bit more versatile in his game at least what comes to finishes but then again if you can knock your opponent silly you might as well do it... Morgan has been impressive overall in his CF fights and having had a shot at the title makes him come to this fight as a favourite but Paulista is a definite threat. One point to notice is in his 17 fights Paulista has never gone to a decision, so hopefully that will continue tonight as well to keep our spectators on the edge of their seats!

205lbs

Luciano "The Talent" Bivar (6-1-0) vs. Jonas "Thunder" Galdikas (14-7-1)

Now we go up to the Light Heavyweight in what should be a very entertaining fight! Bivar's lively manager Kaio Dos Santos was seen raving in the forums challenging basically anybody and everybody to a fight. And it didn't take long to get his wish fullfilled as Galdikas' manager Pico Le-Snubs was annoyed enough to accept the offer, or in others words: "Let us! fight. Jonas bang bang Luciano. My arm, take yours! Ha Ha Ha! Soon! 1 fight." Galdikas is an Olympic wrestler with power in his hands. His Superb Boxing is better than Bivar's Competent so he will probably let his fists fly as well as consider taking his opponent down. Though, Bivar as a Brown Belt will probably want to go to the ground anyway, all his 6 wins have come via submission. Last time he fought he was brilliant, submitting a black belt via Kimura getting the Submission of the Night honours. He also has a significant edge on the MT skill, Exceptional versus Strong of his opponent. Who knows if it has any meaning though tonight as he has never really used his MT but fought on the ground in basically all of his fights. So I expect a ground battle, mainly subs versus GNP. Let's see how things work out!

265lbs Co Main Event

Chris "Wizard of Oz" Adebisi (11-4-0) vs. Marko Huntti (14-5-1)

Heavyweight Co Main Event time! Marko Huntti just arrived to CF. And as sometimes happens with these alpha males, Adebisi felt Huntti was trespassing his territory. And we know Huntti bows to no one. While these two headstrong characters were arguing at the CF office today, I took the pen and paper and asked them to sign to fight each other. TOMORROW! Yes, they both have a whopping 1 day notice for this fight and they are itching to go! Now there's some alpha maleism for you! Huntti will be looking to use his Wonderful Boxing and ridiculously heavy hands, 13 T(KO)'s in his 14 wins, while avoiding going to the ground. Adebisi main strength is also Boxing with Exceptional level skills and 73% of his wins have ended up his opponent going belly up! He's also got a granite chin so maybe he's willing to take his chances exchanging kabooms with Huntti. The main advantange for Wizard of Oz is his Wonderful Wrestling, though it remains to be seen if he uses it or not. For the most part I can imagine this to be a heavy artillery fire as long as it lasts! And of course, will we see the high level of skill requiring technique atomic butt drop in the heat of the battle?? I sure hope not.

155lbs Main Event Title Fight

Colt Riley (13-1-0) (The Champion) vs. Keni "NeoNinja" Susi (17-13-0)

Let's get it oooon! Colt Riley will be making his 3rd title defense in this Lightweight fight against Keni Susi. The champion is on an impressive 8 fight win streak, will Susi be able to stop the fast going Riley train? Standup skills are sort of even here with Riley having Wonderful Boxing and Strong MT compared to Wonderful/Respectable of Susi. Still, the advantage goes to Riley standing up as Susi is hesitant to exchange and Riley is not. The name of the game is can Susi get Riley down with his relentless (and sort of one dimensional) takedown attack or can Riley sprawl and brawl and pick his shots countering? Riley also has a freaking good clinch attack but will he use it and perhaps give more opportunities for Susi to drag the fight to ground remains to be seen. There are two factors for Susi, firstly the fight is five 5 minute rounds, giving him more time to try the takedown and not gas himself out in the 1st round doing so. Secondly he has a brickwall chin, he has never been (T)KO'ed in his 30 fights which also gives some time to take punishment while trying to get the fight to ground. He can be losing on points and still win like he did in hist last fight, he was losing a decision but 2 seconds left in the fight he submitted his opponent, a fellow black belt mind you! Riley's Olympic level Wrestling is the thing which makes me lean towards the champion to take this one but one mistake and it could all be over for him as well.

Cf.94: Code to Victory Preview by Marky Mark

Goooood moooorning Vietnaa... Helsinkiiii! We are getting ready to battle it out at Crashforce Cf.94: Code to Victory on March 9th. After a visit to Malmi Sportshall on Wednesday, we will be back in the 6000 seater Kamppi Arena. As the poster indicates, the challenger Jackson Savage will try to dive deep into the matrix and decipher the code of beating our Welterweight Champion Rocky Mercurius. We also have plenty of other exciting fights on the card here, so let's start going through our preview.

265lbs

Donnie "the skunk" Badge (8-11-0) vs. James "The Mauler" McQueen (12-13-0)

The first fight of the night will be Donnie Badge taking on James McQueen. Badge's best bet would be to stand and bang using his Remarkable Boxing while McQueen would probably want this to be a ground battle even though he has Wonderful Boxing himself. McQueen has good takedowns to take it there, so Badge might want to counter here. Badge does possess some power in his hands so this might be the ideal case to use them with bad intentions and try to get to McQueen's chin. McQueen is most dangerous when he's on the ground on top of you, so Badge who is not a stranger to the ground game himself needs to be alert if this happens and be quick to scramble. Having a big heart helps here. By the way, the skunk should probably visit the shower or something to get his spirits up and regain some lost morale before the fight.

170lbs

"Vellu" Veli Pirinen (8-6-0) vs. Antti "The Angel" Atleetti (10-16-0)

Dropping to Welterweight, we have Veli Pirinen matching up against Antti Atleetti. Both fighters have solid skills, but their possible tactics might be polar opposite of each other. Pirinen has a reach advantage and a better chin and Remarkable standup skills so he might be better off trading fists while Atleetti would probably want to use his Exceptional level Wrestling to take it to the mat and go for the submission. Both guys boast with Brown Belt in BJJ and while Pirinen does have more subs than (T)KO's in his resume he could take his chances on the ground but standing up those chances would be better I would think.

170lbs

"Slick Willy" Owen William (3-5-0) vs. Henrik Luhtanen (10-7-1)

We stay in the Welterweight division and see Owen William take on Henrik Luhtanen. Slick Willy started battling the older guys at very young age, his will is strong and he has the good old brawling mentality that people want to see. While he is fighting, he is improving and already getting experienced for his age. His opponent Luhtanen has an advantage in boxing, Exceptional vs Superb and slightly stronger wrestling but otherwise it's pretty even. Both have Respectable MT and Purple Belts in BJJ. There are signs in the air this could be an all out brawl and you have to see Luhtanen the favourite here but William has shown to be able to pull out surprises before, like his latest victory over Mecier, so let's enjoy!

155lbs

Matt "Myllyttäjä" Mylly (13-15-0) vs. "Black" Jack Fargloom (5-1-0)

Lightweight action next. Matt Mylly is looking for his third win in a row and he's battling Jack Fargloom who is on a three fight win streak himself. Last few fights Fargloom has been dropping guys who are mainly ground fighters down the ladder. Now his opponent Mylly has Sensational Boxing to battle against his Remarkable. Key for Mylly would probably be to use his Exceptional Wrestling to counter Fargloom's Elite, avoid the clinch at all costs and swing from the outside with his quick hands to outpoint Fargloom. Why do I say outpoint? Well Mylly has gone to the decision 22 times out of his 28 fights. That's why. For Fargloom striking from the clinch would be a good idea, his wrestling style being more of the greco roman than freestyle. If this goes to the ground then it's hard to predict what will happen.

170lbs

Clint "The Cowboy" Fredriksson (20-10-1) vs. "Le Marquis" Donatien Alphonse Francois de Sade (9-3-0)

At Welterweight Clint Fredriksson will face off against Donatien Alphonse Francois de Sade. De Sade's ego is so big it requires three first names? Don't know about that but de Sade is confident in his abilities to knock people out with his heavy hands, 7 of his 9 wins have come via stoppage. He has not been finished either, losing only decisions. The vastly experienced Cowboy rides into this fight with a two win streak, having taken a split and majority decision wins in his latest fights. Both guys are very even primary skill wise. Both have Remarkable Boxing and Purple Belts. Le Marquis has a slight advantage on the MT and the Cowboy has slight advantage on the Wrestling side of things. Will whis be a slugfest or will there be some takedowns and GNP involved (mainly by the Cowboy)? Fredriksson has a tendency to make fights war of attritions having been on the decision 20 times but let's hope we'll get an exciting finish tonight!

155lbs

Reiska Rakennusmies (14-6-0) vs. Numero Cero (7-5-0)

Lightweights Reiska Rakennusmies and Numero Cero will be next in action. Can Rakennusmies stop the huge momentum Cero has coming into this fight? Cero had some difficulties in his early career but now with a good management he has found something special inside of him. After solving his problems he hasn't looked back since and he has now defeated 7 of his foes in a row. Rakennusmies has won his last three so he's also in good form for sure. His main weapons in this fight will be a 17cm reach advantage over his opponent and pretty good power in his hands, having a 50% KO rate is his victories. Plus he can throw leather relatively freely as his Brown Belt makes him well equipped to fight on the ground as well. Cero on the other hand, despite having Sensational Wrestling hasn't really used takedowns so far. So expectations are this fight will involve the clinch battle and lots of strikes from outside as well. Cero will be a slight favourite to win here but Rakennusmies does have his chances.

205lbs

"Mean Mugging" John Malham (11-5-0) vs. Bob "Razor Sharp" Stroker (20-8-0)

Next up Light Heavyweights John Malham and Bob Stroker will try to smash each other for the enjoyment of their own and of the audience. The skillsets are pretty even. Razor Sharp seems to have the better chin as he's only finished once standing up in his 28 fights though he is a little prone to getting cut having lost two fights because of that. After his last loss Malham has dropped 12lbs of weight and it seemed to have a good effect to his chin, it has hold up against a trio of very good level strikers with Malham winning those bouts so that gives him confidence coming into this fight. Malham has a very little egde in boxing here but Stroker has Sensational Muay Thai against Wonderful of Malham. Stroker would probably love to take this fight into clinch while Malham could look for the takedown as well. Ler's see what happens.

265lbs

"The Trippy Berserk" Ingolfur Arnarson (11-2-0) vs. Rike "Lisko" McMylly (10-6-0)

Time for a Heavyweight collision. Ingolful Arnarson will scrap with Rike McMylly and I can't see this going to a decision! I can't see it going to the ground either by the way. I can't even see it going to the third round. McMylly's achilles heel has been the BJJ game but he has been working to improve that area. Arnarson hasn't been that much into the ground game so we can assume the guys will slug it out standing. Lisko's game is the clich game, Arnarson will want to avoid getting sucked in or he might be doomed. The Trippy Berserk would most likely want to saty outside and let those fists fly. He has heavy hands and he certainly know how to use them. Both fighters have a good ratio of KO's in their wins and that's what I expect also this fight will end into. One way or another.

155lbs Co Main Event

"Latino Heat" Hector Cabrera (23-9-0) vs. Dell Trotter (15-7-1)

We're getting closer to the main event and now here we have the co main event coming up. Hector Cabrera will be looking to add Dell Trotter to his win column. Cabrera has seen a lot of action has gotten back to his winning ways in his last two fights. Trotter's last fight ended up to a decision loss but he was fighting for the title so this is a tough fight for Cabrera. Trotter has a little edge in the boxing game, boasting with Sensational level Boxing. On the other hand Cabrera has better MT with Remarkable. To utilize his boxing, Trotter also has a whopping 17cm reach advantage. The wrestling and BJJ side of thing are skillwise equal, both having Exceptional Wrestling and Brown Belts. The main difference in the ground game is while Trotter has used GNP to finish fights, Cabrera has used both GNP and submissions, having 9 wins via sub. Latino Heat has heavy hands which have brought him some success on the feet also but Trotter has Granite chin to protect him. Time to open some beer cans and enjoy the fight!

170lbs Main Event Title Fight

Rocky Mercurius (15-3-0) (The Champion) vs. Jackson "Master" Savage (18-10-0)

Finally it's time for the main event! Rocky Mercurius will be defending his good looking Welterweight title belt for the fourth time and tonight it is against the challenger Jackson Savage who is on a 5 fight win streak. What Jackson brings into the table is his amazing BJJ talent, 14 of his 18 wins have come via submission. Both guys are Brown Belts but Mercurius' is mainly for defense. He will be put into test when the fight hits the ground and after all this is five 5 minute rounds so chances are it will end up there is some point. Well, that's of course if Rocky won't stop the Master before that on the feet! The champion does have a significant advantage on the boxing so Savage will have to be careful about that even though Mercurius has the tendency to go the distance and not having that many stoppages. In fact he is on a 9 fight win streak and all those 9 have gone to a decision so that promises well for Savage. MT is quite even so basically it remains to be seen in which way Jackson can take this to the ground or will Mercurius finish him while trying to do so. Interesting indeed!

Cf.95: Asteroid vs Monster Preview by Marky Mark

Hide your cookies! On March 16th Crashforce is coming at your eyeballs with an event dubbed as Cf.95: Asteroid vs Monster. We have rented a shack called the Kamppi Arena for this event and it has room for 6000 feisty spectators ready to maul each other, just the way we like it. The rumours on the streets of Helsinki are somewhat strange leading into the fight night. Some are saying they've spotted a furry beast stuffing relentlessly some shit (not literally) into his mouth and some are soiling themselves as there's something in the air ...impending doom, death from above? Oh, these times! While I'm wondering about these obvious apocalyptic signs, let's go through the card shall we. No? We'll do it anyway.

185lbs

"Black Russian" Antonio Kovalov (13-8-1) vs. "The Bull" Wanadi De Santana (15-9-0)

The first fight of the night features Kiev's gift to the MMA scene, Antonio Kovalov, going toe to toe with The Bull himself, Wanadi De Santana. Now, Kovalov has been sort of an on/off fighter in the past but what we also know is that he's hard to finish. That being said I can imagine De Santana to go for the points utilizing his Exceptional level Boxing, Sensational Muay Thai skills and the 15cm reach advantage. However, Kovalov will put De Santana's takedown defense to a test, he has a good shot and he's more than willing to use it. Should this fight go to the ground the Black Russian will have the big advantage having a good ground and pound game and possessing a Brown Belt in BJJ versus De Santana's Blue doesn't hurt either.

"The Mat Rat" Gaz Passmoor (11-13-0) vs. "Milla Magia" Erik Bajramaj (7-5-0)

Next up we have a Light Heavyweight contest between Gaz Passmoor and Erik Bajramaj. Both fighters have pretty good standup skills ...hey let's not kid ourselves, this fight is going to the ground! Milla Magia boasts with Sensational Wrestling and a Brown Belt while the man who's gotten a new nickname The Mat Rat answers with Exceptional level Wrestling and a Black Belt. Both of them have the majority of their wins come via submission and that might be the case also here. Last time out both fighters got their first submission loss of their careers so they'll be looking for a retribution. Passmoor comes into this fight 7 pounds heavier than his opponent, whether that will help him gain and control the top position remains to be seen. For me the key indeed will be who will hold the top position on the ground. The majority of Passmore's subs have come from the top and while Bajramaj has had submissions from the bottom as well I'd think in this fight it's not a position he volunteers to be in.

Brian "Mason" McGuire (9-8-0) vs. Nikola "Dragon Fang" Dragoslav (10-11-0)

We go up to the Heavyweight for a fight between Brian McGuire and the Crashforce debutant Nikola Dragoslav. There are a lot of similarities between these two jolly good fellows. Both are granite chinned chaps but don't really like to throw a punch that much preferring to take it to the ground about as soon as the bell rings. The Serbian Dragon Fang has a good GNP game mixing it well with submission attempts while the pride of Belfast Mason is pretty slick with his sub attack having a variety of nice submissions in his resume including 4 Kimuras. I expect to see lots of action from both guys and have a feeling this fight is not going to a decision. It has to be noted though McGuire has been feeling a bit low lately so maybe a quick trip to the Korkeasaari Zoo would help him to cheer up? I know I enjoyed it!

205lbs

Odin "Óðinn" Fredriksson (16-10-1) vs. Aarne "The Terror of Morocco" Juutilainen (14-11-0)

Odin Fredriksson will ride his horse Sleipnir to the cage side once again to take on a beast called Aarne Juutilainen in this Light Heavyweight bout. Juutilainen has terrorized many an opponent as well as most of Morocco and now he's coming for the hall of famer Óðinn. Juutilainen is notoriously hard to finish but obviously he hasn't paid enough to the judges in the past, having gotten a "not today" answer (like some of us from a bouncer ...I mean some of you!) 9 times in his losses. The former LHW champion Fredriksson will be entering the fight 15 pounds heavier than his opponent but there is essentially no reach advantage for either one here. Due to both being highly skilled warriors there are a lot of ways this fight can go but I think Juutilainen may want to exchange punches as Fredriksson is a bit prone to receiving cuts. He has to be careful though as Fredriksson has good power in his hands and can basically throw without caution as in case he's taken down the cut threat reduces and it's a whole another ball game on the ground. Both fighters come in riding a losing streak so a win here is vital for both of them. Whatever happens in this fight, it's gonna be awesome!

265lbs

"Uncle Buck" John Candy (16-6-0) vs. "The Boulder" Shatei Yoshida (6-3-0)

John Candy will face off with Shatei Yoshida in a Heavyweight fight. The bowling ball named The Boulder will be looking to take this fight to the ground in this classic striker vs grappler fight. He has all the tools to do it with his Exceptional Wrestling against his opponent's Superb while he has also the BJJ advantage with his Brown Belt. Also aiding him to get the takedown is the height difference as Candy is a whopping 41cm taller than the Nagasaki native. At the same time Candy benefits from his long reach for his main weapons, the semtex hands. Many have witnessed if Uncle Buck hits you clean, you will go down and most likely stay down. He has the advantage of fight starting standing up and it would seem logical for him to go countering as getting dragged to the ground would probably be doom for him as Yoshida has sent people to hospital with his GNP and has shown some submission skills as well. It has to be mentioned though that Candy has never been submitted but even then the question is can he get back up if he's taken down to let his hands do the talking?

185lbs

"The Russian Experiment " Marco Dragonov (10-2-0) vs. "The Pole" Mike Horner (14-8-0)

It's time for a rematch! In the Middleweight two exciting fighters Marco Dragonov and Mike Horner come to the cage to meet again after Dragonov's split decision victory at Cf.79. Horner's last fight was for the title while Dragonov had his shot just before Horner. Now it is an excellent time for them to go at it. Horner's camp firmly believed he should have gotten the nod from the judges in their previous encounter so now it's time to walk the walk instead of talk the talk! ;) Wrestling wise they are pretty much equal with their Remarkable Wrestlings and both are Purple Belts. This fight is most likely fought standing up which is the area both fighters excel at. Horner is a slightly better boxer but then again Dragonov Muay Thai is better on paper. Dragonov is most likely interested in being busy in clinch with his knees and elbows but Horner in no stranger to clinchwork himself with his dirty boxing. I'd still believe Horner wants to keep the action more on the outside. The guys have a combined record of 22 decisions, so this will probably go to a decision again. Let's see who's more lucky this time!

Numero Cero (7-5-1) vs. Reiska Rakennusmies (14-6-1)

It's time for a quicker rematch! The Lightweights Numero Cero and Reiska Rakennusmies fought each other last week and now they have recovered their energy and healed injuries just in time to finish up what was left on the table last week in their majority draw. Can I copy paste from last week?? No? Argh. But yeah, luckily we had a free slot on this card and thanks to the fine and active managers of both fighters in question we could arrange the fight this quickly. Now, I'm not going to analyze the draw that much but it will certainly be interesting to see if their managers will stick to the same tactics or might want to tinker with something, maybe more action in the clinch or add some damage, but who really knows. The audience can expect another tight fight and hopefully we will see a closure here from our last week's Fight of the Night performers!

265lbs

Dwayne Johnson (15-6-0) vs. Keijo Richards (13-9-0)

While the anticipation for the main event is rising all the time, we welcome into the cage two very entertaining Heavyweight scrappers the crowd loves to see, Dwayne Johnson and Keijo Richards! They have only 9 decisions combined in 43 fights. Yesss! You gotta love their do or die attitude. Richards has a slight advantage in reach and boxing while the namesake of a certain movie star/ex-wrestler Johnson is more dangerous on the ground, especially with his ground and pound from Hell. Johnson's big heart will undoubtedly come handy when facing the onslaught Richards will bring. Richards simply will not stop until someone is finished and that's usually pretty quickly. The Muay Thai department is a bit of a mystery here. Richards is better on paper with his Remarkable MT but he hasn't really used it that much except some odd kick here and there. Johnson has Proficient but he has used it far more than his opponent so it remains to be seen if that plays a factor here. Richards is the favourite here but man, this can go either way. If you smelllll what ...Crashforce... is cooking!

205lbs Co Main Event

Kalle "Kyy" Kolmiokuristus (24-15-0) vs. Simo Silakka (10-4-0)

More rumbling coming from the crowd, we're getting closer to the main event and it's time for the co main event right here, right now. In this Light Heavyweight fight we are showcasing two fighters with a lot of momentum going for them, Kalle Kolmiokuristus against Simo Silakka. Kyy has won 4 out of his last 5 and his last outing was a brilliant display of what he knows best, giving Bob Stroker his first submission loss of his long career, while earning the Submission of the Night honours. It is no surprise what the tactis are here for Kyy, to use his Sensational Wrestling and Black Belt to submit Silakka. While Silakka does have a good defense for that with Exceptional Wrestling and Brown Belt, he will do his own attacking standing up. He's got a very high level striking game and 8(T)KO's in his 10 wins tell the tale. When he swings that big right hand you better get out of the way. Kolmiokuristus needs to also watch out for the wicked head kicks of Silakka, Simo has actually finished his last two fights via Head Kick KO. Can Kolmiokuristus take the punishment (having a good chin for it) while getting the fight into his realm by any means necessary? Silakka's fights have had a tendency to be over in the 1st but he will be in trouble it this hits the mat. He has not yet faced such a high level grappler as Kyy, so this is an interesting situation and hopefully a good war for the spectators!

185lbs Main Event Title Fight

"Global Killer" Anabol Asteroid (25-10-1) (The Middleweight Champion) vs. Cookie Monster (18-4-1) (The Light Heavyweight Champion) :bigshock:

Oh shit, somebody's gonna get knocked out for sure!!! And the crowd erupts! Finally the time has come for the main event of the evening and what a collision it will be! Our eccentric but MASSIVELY heavy handed Light Heavyweight Champion Cookie Monster issued a challenge to our reigning Middleweight Champion Anabol Asteroid and the fearless Asteroid accepted to defend his 185lbs title on this event. Now, while Asteroid has a Brown Belt and Monster a Blue, we can safely assume this fight will not go to the ground as neither fighter has probably never tried a takedown even in practise. Don't really see any guard pulling from the clinch coming either. No, this will be a good old fashioned dogfight until one of them shuts down. In terms of striking skills Monster has a bit of an advantage with his impressive Elite/Exceptional Boxing and MT skills over Asteroid's Sensational/Wonderful. The Global Killer though compensates that with his massive heart to overcome any obstacle put in front of him and he's looking to ruffle that blue fur! While enjoying those delicious cookies, Cookie Monster has swung his paws in a devastating fashion, having gathered a crazy 17(T)KO's in his 18 wins while having been on the receiving end of the same treatment only 3 times. That being said, Asteroid's power punch is not from this planet either, having had a deep impact on his foes chin for 17(T)KO's himself. In his 36 fights against a really tough competition he has been KO'd only once and that was at the beginning of 2010, some ...28 fights ago! Who the hell is going to predict a winner here? Not me, I will just happily tune in to appreciate the moment as it can be over quickly. Crazyyyyyyy, let's get it on already!

Cf.96: Vengeance Preview by Marky Mark

If you are thinking about spicing up your not so exciting *cough* life in a "special" way on the coming Friday night, Helsinki is the place to be! No you fool, I don't mean that kind of action. I'm talkin' bout March 23rd being the day Crashforce brings you Cf.96: Vengeance! The 6000 seater Kamppi Arena will be on the verge of collapse as the rabid Cf fans get rough and dirty, wearing tight black leather outfits while holding their whips in their hands! Yes... Ahem well, we better get straight to the card now as we have a Heavyweight Title showdown coming up as well as many other badass bouts. It's time for Vengeance!

Brad "The Technician" Ryan (19-16-0) vs. Geraldo "couch potato" Higgins (5-8-0)

We get things started with a Lightweight fight between Brad Ryan and Geraldo Higgins. Both men boast with a Brown Belt in BJJ and while Ryan's boxing credentials are a bit better there is no reach advantage to either guy. Higgins is a bit heavier but hey, what can you expect from a guy who's nickname is couch potato?? While the more experienced fighter Ryan may choose to try out his hands with his Remarkable Boxing, most likely the majority of the fight will be fought on the ground as both guys have some slick submission moves in their arsenal. Couch potato has had a bit difficult times lately with the judges so maybe he will be eager to go for the finish instead of trying out his luck. The Technician is well known for his grappling ability having submitted his way to victory 13 times already. Ryan gets a minor thumbs up for the Freestyler but I expect to see a nice grappling contest here with plenty of submission attempts.

185lbs

"Ghibli" Hayao Miyazaki (7-5-1) vs. Blade Brown (8-6-1)

Alright, Middleweight action coming up as Hayao Miyazaki meets Blade Brown. The animated Miyazaki will be looking to go through Brown like a hot wind through a snowman using his Elite level Boxing. Blade Brown though has an excellent striking of his own, Sensational Boxing and a definite advantage in Muay Thai. Miyazaki has a bit stronger wrestling game so he may look for a takedown at times but if it goes to the ground, who knows what will happen, maybe not much if the Blue belts cancel out each other. Contrast to the earlier fight, this one is probably a continuous exchange of fists until someone drops. Miyazaki has to be careful about ending up to the clinch but he may also see a takedown opportunity there. While Brown may be a slight favourite here because of his more versatile standup attack it's a tight fight so let's just see how it goes.

205lbs

D C "Don't Care" Jackson (12-6-0) vs. "The Rage" Kileki Kawike (20-14-0)

In the Light Heavyweight D C Jackson takes on Kileki Kawike. Why is there a space between D and C? Well I Don't Care. The letterman Jackson makes his Crashforce debut here and like all the debutants before him he too is going to show what he's made of. The popular (well you're bound to be popular if you walk out with the Real American) fighter will most likely want to showcase his dynamite hands here while having a good base for preventing Kawike's takedowns with his Sensational Wrestling. Kawike would like the fight to go to the ground in any means necessary as his chin is not the strongest out there and it's really not very wise to test it again here against the considerable K O power D C possesses. What he wants to do is play the submission game as he has the advantage there, a Black Belt versus a Brown Belt. The currently managerless Kawike has had a sort of a morale dropping event as just today some freaking worthless FA abusing manager poached all his lunch money! So, he'll be coming into this fight furious as hell! Goddammit, I would be mad too!

205lbs

Ely Scott (16-10-0) vs. Nikolay Grigoriev (17-7-0)

With two impressive first round submission victories in his first two Cf fights, Ely Scott comes confident into this Light Heavyweight battle against Nikolay Grigoriev. Scott is a well rounded fighter but he has really made his money by submitting people. And he has submitted people quite many times, 10 that is. Scott's style may suit well for Grigoriev who's skills are nowadays more suited to the ground game as well. Both are Brown Belts in BJJ and while Scott is always looking for a way to submit you, Grigoriev is mostly interested in ground and pounding you. Yes, YOU! Scott has the momentum on his side and can be regarded as a favourite here. Something tells me the judges can go have some coffee and donuts during this fight as they will not be needed at the cageside.

265lbs

Pekka "Punasolusprinkleri" Lipponen (14-6-0) vs. James "The Mauler" McQueen (13-13-0)

The big boys are up next, a Heavyweight encounter between the former champion Pekka Lipponen and the versatile James McQueen. The good old Man on the Silver Mountain will be kicking in when Lipponen makes his way to the cage, I can appreciate that. Though the guitar riff gets stuck into your head and you'll find thinking about it in the shower, in the kitchen, in the living room, when you're picking up your mail... Yeah. Lipponen is on a bit of a losing streak but you have to take into account that his opponents have all been high calibre and anything can happen in those fights. In any case, I'm sure Punasolusprinkleri (crazy nickname!) comes in with a mean face looking to put McQueen out of his misery and get back into the mix. The Mauler has been on a rise, he has won 2 out of his last 3, the loss being a split decision. He has found his success mostly on the ground where he mixes nicely both subs and GNP. However Lipponen may not mind going to the ground, at least what comes to the submission game, as he's a Black Belt having submitted five opponents before. The standup skills are quite even with Lipponen's Wonderful/Wonderful against Wonderful/Remarkable of Mauler's, but I'd think Mauler would use them more defensively boxing wise and perhaps look into the clinch possibilities as he has tools to inflict damage there even though he has been using them very sparingly. Lipponen, who comes into this fight as a favourite, has found more standup success with his boxing than MT. Both fighters need to take care of not getting cut too much while scrapping. Special thanks to both managers to accept the fight, as I had to offer it on a very short notice.

170lbs

"The Grim Reaper" Manny Calavera (5-8-1) vs. Chris "The Inverse Midas" Herzog (18-9-0)

We're dropping down to Welterweight as the guys with wonderful nicknames will meet here, Manny Calavera takes on the durable Chris Herzog. While The Inverse Midas has demonstated his ability to hang on pretty well with high level strikers, his main weapon is the ground game so this can be considered a classic striker versus grappler fight. The Grim Reaper Calavera boasts with Elite Boxing and Wonderful Muay Thai while Herzog brings his Exceptional Boxing and Superb MT into the table which sets Herzog into a position of disadvantage. But a view into Herzog's history reveals to those who don't already know Herzog is damn hard to take out. Calavera has the tools to succeed here but he has to plan his tactics carefully as Herzog has the better wrestling and the takedowns will most likely be coming at some point. When on the ground Calavera may have to stall, tell Herzog some especially dirty jokes or anything to get the time run out on a 5 minute round as it will be his only salvation on the ground. Can Calavera land a spectacular punch to break the bank or will the touch of The Inverse Midas seal the deal?

185lbs

"Pistol" Pete Palahnuik (6-0-0) vs. Hans Gruber (14-8-0)

Bang bang! Pistol Pete Palahnuik is here with his smoking gun, looking to donate a bullet to Dusseldorf's favourite son Hans Gruber who is no stranger to a firefight himself. Palahnuik is a rising star who always seem to find a way to win, indeed he's undefeated in his 6 fights. Sensational Boxing and Exceptional Wrestling pops out as Palahnuik's main strenghts but in his previous fights he has demonstrated to have a variety of tools in his arsenal, often making it hard for the opponent to predict his fight tactics. Though being a bit behind in boxing and wrestling skills, not much though, Hans Gruber has the advantage of being a world class Muay Thai practitioner in this Middleweight fight. Palahnuik really doesn't want to end up clinching with Gruber that much, as Gruber will surely unleash his wicked knees on his foe. Gruber's got a grinding style which has seen him wear out his opponents and securing the victory for him many times. In fact you don't want to end up waiting to hear a decision with Gruber as he has never lost a decision, and won 9 of them. This is going to be a tight contest, even on the ground these guys are similar, both are Purple Belts who look for sweeps and opportunities to ground and pound. Both fighters have appeared 4 times in the Cf cage and both have won all their fights. It's anybody's guess!

205lbs

Luciano "The Talent" Bivar (6-2-0) vs. Demian Silva (14-9-1)

In this Light Heavyweight bout Luciano Bivar is looking for a vengeance against Demian Silva. This is their second skirmish, Silva won the first one by a magnificent straight punch after a little more than a minute of action, knocking Bivar out cold. It seems Bivar has had a tough time to accept the fact and has been running his mouth, as his style is, of how he will get his redemption by kicking Silva's ass. It is easier said than done though, as Silva still has a definite boxing advantage with his Wonderful skills. On MT both are highly talented guys with Exceptional skills but it is thought Silva is the better guy in the clinch with his aggressive clinchwork style. Bivar will want this on the ground and he's got the wrestling advantage to achieve it, that is if he's not getting punched hard in the face while trying to do it... Bivar is a real Talent on the ground and while Silva is a Brown Belt too, his is mostly for defense so you have to give the edge to Bivar there, though it is good to remember Silva has not been submitted before.

265lbs Co Main Event

Buck "Shot" Blaze (11-5-0) vs. Mieczyslaw "No-Nickname" Grabowski (14-6-1)

It is time for the co main event of the evening. A Heavyweight battle between hard hitting Buck Blaze and always entertaining Mieczyslaw (yes, I had to triple check it) Grabowski. It is nice to see Grabowski has earned himself a nickname even though it is... well... No-Nickname. I would then suggest changing the first name to No-Name, now that would be something! The guys are very even skillwise, Blaze enjoying a slight advantage in boxing but Grabowski the same kind of advantage in Muay Thai. Wrestling & BJJ primaries are identical. Both guys have had most of their wins come via (T)KO, especially Blaze who's TKO rate is a whopping 91%. Grabowski needs to deal somehow with his opponent reach advantage though. I think it's safe to say there will be no submission grappling in this fight but should either guy (well, Grabowski mostly) see fit to take the fight down at some point Grabowski may have a little edge in the GNP department. I do believe this will end with one guy standing though, but in any case this fight cannot be anything else than hugely entertaining.

265lbs Main Event Title Fight

Jonny "The Angel" Victorio (16-4-0) (The Champion) vs. "The Naturalist" Fedor Martinsson (12-3-0)

And finally we move on to the main event of the evening! Jonny Victorio will step into the cage to defend his Heavyweight belt for the 5th time, this time it's against the vengeance seeking challenger Fedor Martinsson. The last 8 fights of the Swedish phenomenon Martinsson have ended by nothing else than KO or TKO. 7 of them Fedor walked out of the cage, only one time it was he who had to be carried out and that was a title fight against The Angel. In fact, Victorio has a same kind of streak, his last 10 fights have all ended without going to the judges, with Jonny being the winner in 9 of them. Both guys have massive power in their punches with a combined record of 23 knockouts in their 28 wins. Both also have Granite chins but can they really rely on that fact too much as both of them have previously knocked out granite chinned opponents as well? The guys are pretty even with their skills, the biggest gap is for Fedor's benefit in Muay Thai department, Sensational against Wonderful. On the other hand, Jonny has been training for this fight with Master Steven Seagal so his confidence is sky high, at least with the ladies. And you know, Seagal has actually been accorded as a tulku, the reincarnation of a Buddhist Lama, which certainly gives Jonny a great insight to counter Fedor's BUDdist mentality. Will the tree hugging Naturalist get to avenge his loss or will the popular Italian killer make the crowd go nuts again and give a good reason for Fedor to "medicate" himself? Let's do this!!!

Cf.97: Voodoo Preview by Marky Mark

Ladies and gentlemen, prepare to be servants of Crashforce fighting spirits! On Friday March 30th we are bringing you Cf.97: Voodoo from the ceremony hall once called Kamppi Arena which will hold six thousand of our mesmerized participants! Our main attraction of the evening is a highly anticipated battle dance between the BJJ magician Pentti Hirvonen and the Miami witch doctor Dexter Morgan. Bring your dolls, bring your snakes, bring your poisons we don't care. Who will get sticked with the needles, who will be zombified? All of that we shall see, so for now let's take a look at the performers of this mysterious evening.

170lbs

"Slick Willy" Owen William (3-6-0) vs. "Deathperado" Adrian Desper (7-9-0)

We'll begin with a Welterweight contest as Owen William will take on Adrian Desper. The standup skills between these two chaps are pretty even. While Desper can be comfortable trading fists with his granite chin he will most likely try to take the fight to the ground as he has an advantage in both wrestling and BJJ. What kind of tactics will the kid from the mean streets of Edmonton try to use here to counter the takedown threat of Desper? Will he pepper Deathperado with shots trying to get as much in as possible before taken down or will he pick his shots countering? Actually, will he go for the takedowns himself to score points as he has done several times? On the other hand this might be a good time to display some clinch skills as he does have tools there even though those have been rarely used. If the fight goes on longer period on the ground the more bad it is for Slick Willy, as Desper has shown his ability to put people away either by submission or just simply beating them until the fat lady sings.

155lbs

Sakari Watts (5-7-0) vs. Salvatore "Bulldozer" Gattuso (14-9-0)

The next fight will be between two Lightweights, Sakari Watts and Salvatore Gattuso. Bulldozer Gattuso will be making his Crashforce debut tonight and I'm sure he'll be looking to start impressively by taking out Watts in a spectacular fashion! Or via decision. Well. Both guys are highly skilled and versatile fighters, so this is a bit hard to predict. Gattuso enjoys a slight advantage with his Brown Belt in BJJ versus Watts' Purple but in standup skills Watts has a slight advantage with Exceptional Boxing/MT against Gattuso's Wonderful Boxing/MT. Watts has had some trouble in his last fights and one could say he has underperformed a bit but maybe now it's time for his fortunes to change. Neither guy has a particular tendency in the way they fight and I'm really expecting this to be an all-rounded war. A lot of strikes with variety to test each other's chins, both have granite ones so let's bang and see who's standing in the end.

170lbs

"Iron" Mike Tyson (10-6-0) vs. "Vellu" Veli Pirinen (8-7-0)

Welterweight action up next. Mike Tyson will bring his augmented sunglasses into the cage against Veli Pirinen who has a personal grudge against any living judge residing in the cageside. Pirinen comes in having a bit of a losing streak going on as his last four have ended in, surprise surprise, a decision loss. With some luck some of those fights might as well have ended to a victory. One interesting detail is that in their combined 31 fights neither guy have ever been finished, maybe today this will change? As could be imagined, Tyson's strenght is in his Sensational Boxing but his wrestling is also on a Sensational level which may cause problems for Vellu. Pirinen on the other had has significant Muay Thai advantage and has a higher level Belt in BJJ, Brown that is, which helps him if he gets taken down, which is a good probability considering Iron Mike has a very good 61% takedown success rate. This is Tyson's first fight at Welterweight so let's see if there's any side effects of cutting more weight that he's used to. Should be an exciting fight, this can go either way!

185lbs

"The Bull" Wanadi De Santana (15-10-0) vs. Lassi Lambada (6-5-0)

Wanadi de Santana will face off against Lassi Lambada in the next fight, which is contested in the Middleweight. De Santana has had a tough time at Crashforce having had earlier success in other organizations and this seems to be his last fight here. The veteran will undoubtedly try to go out in a blaze of glory while the younger Lambada would like nothing more than to show his lambada dance moves on the ground with the Bull. Oh wait, that didn't sound right at all... Ahem, I would expect Lambada to get this to the ground eventually as his overall ground game is superior to the Bull's. Lambada has a Brown Belt in BJJ and while he is not really known to go for submissions the better BJJ level might help him to control his foe and slash out some good old ground and pound. De Santana's best chance is to throw a lot of strikes but it may also be sensible for him to incorporate some of his techniques in the Art of Eight Limbs. Will Bull's hit be the deciding factor or will Lambada outgrapple his foe here?

205lbs

"The Mat Rat" Gaz Passmoor (12-13-0) vs. "The President" Buer Eremiel (11-7-0)

Going up to the Light Heavyweight and we have the grappler Gaz Passmore fighting the striker Buer Eremiel. This fight is clearly two sided. Will Passmoor get his way and take the fight to the ground or will he get knocked out trying? All of The Mat Rat's wins have come via submission and I'm sure The President himself will want none of that grappling game. What The President himself does want is to throw an elbow onto Passmoore's head, and another one, and another one... His elbows should really be named something other than left and right, something like Blood & Lust! Or not. They've been an integral part of Eremiel success, The President having a nice looking resume of TKO wins via Cuts. But for elbowing you have to get close and getting close means Passmoor will take you down. And compared to The Mat Rat, The President is like a fish out of water there. So, what ever happens I can easily imagine we won't need the judges on this one.

170lbs

Henrik Luhtanen (11-7-1) vs. Mercutio Benvolio (11-8-0)

Henrik Luhtanen meets Mercutio Benvolio in what is promising to be a very exciting Welterweight bout. Luhtanen is known to throw a hell of a lot of punches during the fight. Benvolio is known to throw a hell of a lot of kicks during the fight. Both really try to utilize their strenghts to the fullest in their tactics as while both have decent all round skills Luhtanen is primarily a Boxer and Benvolio a Muay Thai specialist. One thing to notice is that Luhtanen will want to avoid clinch like the plague. I still remember one fight of Benvolio's where both guys were cut repeatedly, a total of seven cuts. While Luhtanen's morale is not the best possible at the moment, it is still way better than Benvolio's misery and that may effect the outcome here. Anyway, if this fight goes to the ground I am really surprised. But then again this might be a good time to pull out the surprise and go for it. Whether that is in the plan of either slugger that remains to be seen.

Arne "Paul" Riseman (11-6-1) vs. Pertti Apila (20-11-1)

A Heavyweight showdown up next as Arne Riseman takes on Pertti Apila! Both fighters are really well rounded but for both it is the Boxing that pops out most. Riseman boasts with Elite Boxing and Apila has Sensational level Boxing as well. There will be no submissions, there will be no ground game. There WILL be two killers looking for the mega punch! Paul, I mean Arne, argh I mean Riseman has a devastating ratio of KO's, with 8 of his 11 wins coming via (T)KO. The towering Pertti Apila loves to hurt people standing up but may also utilize the clinch game for fun at times. He debuted in his last fight at CF and what a destruction it was. Three knockdowns, four cuts and it all finished inside the 1st round. Let's just say that Apila was boogieing at the after party and his opponent was in the hospital. Apila will be seen as the favourite here but Riseman can win if he finds a way to negate the reach advantage Apila has.

Jackson "Master" Savage (18-11-0) vs. Juho Pennanen (6-4-0)

Dropping back to Welterweight and we'll get to see Jackson Savage fight Juho Pennanen. Muay Thai and wrestling wise the skills are pretty even though Pennanen does have significantly better hands but how will the young gun approach the striking tactically? Counter or no counter, that's the question. He has been a sort of a volume puncher but is that the way to go also in this fight? Jackson will shoot for a takedown, even my uncle knows that and he doesn't know much. And if he get's it then Pennanen is in a world of trouble. Master has submitted more people than Pennanen has fought. But Pennanen has not been finished in his 10 fights so he can take confidence from that fact. And add the fact Pennanen really wanted to have this fight so while he's still quite young (and highly skilled, may I add) I guess he knows he can handle Savage's ground mastery and take a W here. I see two alternate endings here, Savage by submission or Pennanen via decision.

265lbs Co Main Event

"The Atomic Butt Drop" Marko Huntti (15-5-1) vs. Rike "Lisko" McMylly (11-6-0)

The co main event of the evening features two (T)KO specialists, Marko Huntti and Rike McMylly. Oh man, I like this kind of fights. Two guys trying to hit each other's head off. Lisko will try to impose his Sensational Muay Thai game on Huntti. His clinch attack is especially nasty with knees and elbows while Huntti has spend his time on the clinch mostly dirty boxing. No takedowns here, the name of the game is last man standing. Both guys have only been (T)KO'd once in their career so who better men to play this kind of game. The Atomic Butt Drop has a stellar 13 standup finishes in his 15 wins and Lisko also has 8 of his 11, so surely this fight will come to an end before the 15 minutes have passed. For Lisko I'd imagine priority one is to close the distance, work the clinch and find a key to victory from there. For Huntti priority one is to throw McMylly to the ground and jump on him with his considerable sized rear end, uh no I mean priority one is to avoid the clinch and let McMylly eat power shots like the morning cereals. Exciting battle!

185lbs Main Event

Dexter Morgan (18-7-0) vs. Pentti Hirvonen (19-12-0)

Main event time! We have two top of the food chain Middleweights coming to mean mug each other and then mug each other. I'm talking about Dexter Morgan and Pentti Hirvonen. It can be said this fight will in fact determine the number one contender in Middleweight. Morgan is a tall guy (210cm) for a Middleweight and that reach advantage will pose a problem for Hirvonen to solve. While I think about that I'm browsing the Gracie family album. There's Rickson Gracie, Royce Gracie, Pentti Hirvonen, Renzo Gracie ...what, Hirvonen? Well, he could be! He has a distinct advantage in his Red Belt in BJJ but while Morgan has Brown, he's no slouch on the ground having a good amount of submissions himself. However for Morgan it's wise not to try his luck on the ground. Hirvonen has 12 submission victories as well as a couple of GNP knockouts there. Not only he uses his GNP to finish but more importantly he uses it to get into positions to submit people. Morgan will rely on his striking here, expect the leg kicks come in and he has the overall MT advantage with his Exceptional level MT. Will Morgan go to clinch in this fight? His knees can really do damage to Hirvonen but will he be vulnerable to a takedown or more importantly to Hirvonen pulling guard? There are a lot of roads the fighters can take here but ultimately they will lead to the same place. Who will be the first to arrive?

Cf.98: Break the Walls Preview by Marky Mark

On April 6th at Kamppi Arena with 6000 strung-out Crashforce fanatics we will put on the heavy duty gloves and start breaking the walls down, fo sho! Bricks will be breaking, muscles will be bulging, men will be grunting and sweat will be flowing. And while we have actually rented some machinery to do the dirty work for us, we'll have time to take a look at tonight's card. We have a host of drilling fights to marvel tonight, including three fighters making their Crashforce debuts and the highlight of the fight night will be a Lightweight Title Fight which should be a crushing affair. Welcome to Cf.98: Break the Walls!

Jarppi "Grim Grin" Virne (10-12-0) vs. Kimmuriel Oblodra (5-4-0)

Let's get the show going! It's time for the first scrap of the evening and the Heavyweight culprits in question are Jarppi Virne and Kimmuriel Oblodra. Oblodra will be making his CF debut here, trying to reshape Grim Grin's grim grin to a really sad facial expression. Oblodra has had some hard times in his last fights (though he's taken on quality opponents) but he has good potential and is now looking to turn things around for himself in CF. Virne's been doing pretty well lately, winning 4 of his last 7. What makes this fight so interesting is that both guys have the same set of tools and the same approach to the game. Very evenly skilled, they both like to take opponents down and distribute damage on the ground. Virne prefers GNP and Oblodra likes to mix it up more with some submissions usually thrown in as well, which has been a sort of achilles heel for Virne. But who knows maybe Virne has learned of his setbacks. Oblodra's morale could be better going into this fight though there is still a little time to get improvement on that issue. Like watching Pokemon, now that's entertaining.

Clint "The Cowboy" Fredriksson (20-11-1) vs. Antti "The Angel" Atleetti (11-16-0)

Welterweight action next as Clint Fredriksson battles Antti Atleetti. On paper Clint would seem to be at disadvantage skillwise but he's a proven warrior and I expect this to be a tight fight. The Cowboy's speciality is grinding out victories which he has done in 14 out of his 20 wins. He should watch out for Atleetti's takedowns here as it's not a very good idea to start playing ground games with Atleetti even though Fredriksson has displayed nice GNP skills in some of his previous fights. The Angel has a tendency to avoid the clinchwork so maybe The Cowboy has some plans in that respect but if he can keep the fight standing for a period of time he will increase his chances of winning dramatically as his chin has proven to be stronger than his opponents. Both fighters have similar 4W-3L record in their last 7 coming into this fight. To further enhance his chances, Fredriksson too would benefit of some morale boosting activities of which I'm not going to go into that much details right now. Props to Cowboy for his walk out song but what on earth has happened to Angel's nice Beyonce song??? The link reveals some horrible crap! I can't do my fancy dance moves listening to this!

185lbs

Mark Robbins (7-7-0) vs. "Tweed" Nixon Red (10-8-0)

The next one is a Middleweight throwdown featuring Mark Robbins and Nixon Red. Nixon Red is in trouble and not only because he's fighting Robbins. His managers have changed lately more often that his socks and his latest manager has gone awol on him again. Hopefully he can find a good manager to guide him through the hard times but he's on his own in this one. Obviously his morale has been affected as well, how can you blame him? Nevertheless he comes in looking for a good result for himself with his excellent standup game, boasting with Exceptional Boxing and Exceptional Muay Thai. He's got 7 (T)KO's in his 10 wins so he has good power in his hand as well as a granite chin. Robbins is a tough competitor too, highlighted with his Elite level Boxing but he has shown to be a competitive ground fighter as well if the situation so demands. However he may have problems taking the fight down if not via clinch so I expect this to be mostly a good old fashioned fist fight in which Robbins would be seen as a favourite.

Arvo Pentti (4-1-0) vs. Uncle Rico (16-11-0)

We stay at Middleweight as Arvo Pentti will be looking to add Uncle Rico's name into his win column. Rico will be the most experienced opponent that young Arvo Pentti has faced. How will be cope with fighting such a veteran as Rico? One thing to be taken into account is that in his 27 fights Rico has never been knocked out. Only in a fight against our champion Asteroid he was in trouble, being knocked down twice and rocked once. With that fight as an exception, he has not been even knocked down by others and many have tried. So while Pentti has an advantage in his standup game with Exceptional Boxing and Superb MT compared to Wonderful/Mediocre of Rico's, he has his hands full tonight. I'd imagine using his 10cm reach advantage would be a wise move for Pentti, trying to outpoint his opponent which has been a fairly effective tactic against Rico in the past. While both have Remarkable Wrestling the ground game favours the Brown Belt Rico as he has also demonstrated some good ground and pound techniques. This could very well be a fight of the night contender!

Junior "The Pot Predator" Paulista (11-7-0) vs. Cold "Dog" Cat (7-4-1)

Middleweights are well represented tonight as Junior Paulista takes on the debutant Cold Cat. Dog, I mean Cat... now I'm confused. Ahem, Cat's best weapons in this fight are his paws, he has got the reach advantage as well as a significantly better level of boxing with Elite. I'd imagine he wants to avoid being taken down and I'd imagine that's what the Pot Predator will want to do, at least in some point of the fight. Even though Paulista has heavy hands and is capable of hurting people in a fist fight he has been caught there some times so he may want to try the ground game as well. Especially as Cat's Brown Belt has been for defensive purposes only, well at least until this fight that is! Cat may be wise to use his agility to avoid taken into the clinch as Paulista's elbows have been advertised as great, but no one has really seen them used that much so who knows if they play a factor in this one. It's gonna be an exciting fight but somehow I feel this will not go the full 15 minutes.

265lbs

"The Trippy Berserk" Ingolfur Arnarson (11-3-0) vs. "Uncle Buck" John Candy (16-7-0)

Our second Heavyweight fight of the evening promises to be a lumberjack match between Ingolfur Arnarson and John Candy. On paper these guys are very equally skilled fighters. Both are mainly head hunters who have frequently displayed the Sandman skills putting their opponents to sleep. The Trippy Berserk has (T)KO'd his opponent in 7 of his 11 wins and Uncle Buck in 12 of his 16 wins so it may be better to concentrate on avoiding the strikes of these guys as when they connect your ass is in trouble! I can see this being an all out brawl with no love for the ground game and I don't think this can possibly go to the judges, or even to the 3rd round for that matter. Especially as both guys are already almost suicidal with their morale as I'm writing this. Well, if it works for them... Timbeeeeeeer!

265lbs

Carter "The Lion" Potter (22-12-0) vs. Dwayne Johnson (15-7-0)

The Heavyweights keep on coming as the familiar jungle song blasts the arena. Yep, the Lion himself Carter Potter is here as well as the famous Dwayne Johnson. With a combined number of 26 knockouts in their resume these guys can write a book on how to hit someone properly. Potter may have the granite chin but he also has more (T)KO losses, though half of those have come via Cuts so he has to be careful about picking his shots. Johnson has lost his last two by (T)KO but those have been the only times he's been (T)KO'd in his career. Surprisingly I feel there might be some willingness to take the fight to the ground as while having a defensive Brown Belt Johnson has a wicked ground and pound game. Also Potter has shown his Brown Belt is not only for show as he has submitted people in the past at least, though it's been a long time. Then again, maybe I'm just imagining nonsense and these guys end up blasting each other's face until someone goes unconscious.

155lbs

Keni "NeoNinja" Susi (17-14-0) vs. Warren "The Warrior" Adams (25-10-0)

Oh man, a Lightweight fight I'm dying to see! We have two master submission magicians going at it here, Keni Susi and Warren Adams. These guys have a combined record of 1 TKO win and 35(!) submission wins. Who's gonna guess where this fight will be fought?!! If you didn't scream "on the ground" there is something wrong with you. No, I mean it. While NeoNinja might seem to have a slight advantage by having a Black Belt over a Brown Belt of Adams' I don't necessarily see it that way. On pure ground game this is pretty even as hiddens affect too, of course. It seems Adams especially has an uncanny ability to find good positions and surprise his foe, adding some ground and pound to achieve it usually helps too. Having the most submission victories in all of Helsinki with a Brown Belt is some what special. NeoNinja trusts more his technical skills in advancing into positions instead of creating chances with GNP but his style is really aggressive in sub attempts and that may tire him out. Though he has not once but twice submitted a guy with 2 seconds left in the fight so his conditioning seems to be in order. Who gets the first takedown doesn't really matter, both guys like to be on their back so it's another day in the office for them. Showtime!

170lbs Co Main Event

Kake Nyrkki (10-6-1) vs. Chris "The Inverse Midas" Herzog (19-9-0)

We advance to our Co Main Event of the evening. Kake Nyrkki steps into the Crashforce cage for the first time and standing opposite him will be Chris Herzog. 10 of Nyrkki's 17 fights have gone to a decision and Herzog really hates decisions as he's not very popular among the judges. Nyrkki will have advantage on both Boxing (Sensational vs Exceptional) and Muay Thai (Wonderful vs Superb) but that is nothing new to the Inverse Midas. He knows he can take the punishment and he has developed a quite good standup game himself. While both have Exceptional Wrestling and Brown Belts, the usage of those are polar opposites. Nyrkki will use them mainly for defense while Herzog will use them as attacking tools. Nyrkki has some reach advantage here to help his striking but will it make him more vulnerable to takedowns? Will weight have an effect on the takedows as well, Nyrkki being a heavy welterweight while Herzog is one of the lightest? Certainly Herzog would love to get this on the ground, already having 10 sub victories in his record compared to Nyrkki's zero. But Nyrkki has never been submitted either so it should be expected his submission defense is on point. Nyrkki has already faced some tough dudes and that serves him well in preparation for this fight but how is this going to end? I don't have a clue. Let's find out!

155lbs Main Event Title Fight

Colt Riley (14-1-0) (The Champion) vs. Numero Cero (8-5-1)

Main event time! Our Lightweight head honcho Colt Riley, who's been kicking ass and taking names, will be looking to sledgehammer the number one contender Numero Cero into an early retirement. However, Cero is already living in the Bahamas so what can Riley really do about it? Send him back home? The Numberville native is on a tear, a streak of 9 fights without a loss (8 wins and 1 draw). But the same can be said about the champion Riley, he has a 9 fight win streak going on. So, someone's streak is coming to an end tonight! The Olympic wrestler Riley has a tremendous clinch game which Cero really has to deal with and he has indeed shown the skills to cope with that, being a Sensational wrestler himself and an Exceptional MT artist. Riley hasn't really faced yet a guy with such high level MT which may force him to change his usual tactics and maybe go more for the takedown. He does have an edge in Brown Belt versus Purple but it is mainly his GNP which is the danger for Cero. I would expect Cero to want no part of the ground game tonight, he's more happy to stand and trade. Cero's style involves a lot of strikes trusting his sprawl but will he be more cautious throwing leather now that he's facing a wrestler who's at least on paper better than him in fear of a takedown? Both warriors have granite chins so KO is unlikely but who knows. I predict this to be a grinding war and go the full 25 minutes until the judges announce the tired but happy winner.

I really love my guy Cero

He was create to take in our alliance TUF, and he start his fighting career with 5 loses.

I was just joined GTI, and was asked to pick him up. And I'm so glad that I picked him up.

Cero has elite balance, so Riley will not succees in his takedown attemps so often. Cero will grind decision win by clincing and kicking.

WAR CERO :training2: :showoff::boxing::injured:
