NAF 13 Preview

Tomorrow night we will be live from The Underground in Montreal to see NAF 13: Caine vs. Gives

Bantamweight Fight

Fred Durst (0-2) vs. Cody “The Dark Elf” Drizzt Do Urden(1-0)

We start the night off right with what should be a great stand up war. Fred Durst loves a stand up battle but he hasbecome too reliant on punching combo’s and needs to throw some single shots tomake himself less predictable and avoid wearing himself out. Do Urden likes to clinch up and damage hisopponent with knees and elbows. Thisshould make more an exciting back and forth war where both fighters looking toput the hurt on each other.

Bantamweight Fight

Pearce Tremblay (0-0) vs. “Songbird” Jack Johnson (1-0)

The 1st bantamweight fightrevolved around a stand up war. This onecould be all about the ground game. JackJohnson is a well rounded fighter and in his first fight he was all about theground game. Of course his opponent hada large advantage in the stand up so we could see him keep it standing in thisone. Pearce Tremblay is predominantly awrestler but has a decent stand up game to. He lacks the submission game so he could want to keep this fightstanding if he feels Johnson is a bit too dangerous on the ground. So I guess in the end this fight could end upanywhere!

Light Heavyweight Fight

Shogun Rua (3-3) vs. “The Shining” Vitali Pokrovski (2-0)

Vitali Pokrovski has shown that he is a threat on the ground and can sink in asubmission quite fast once he gets the fight to the ground. With 2 fights and lasting less than 2 minuteseach, Vitali has yet to need to show anything other skill set. You may me 1 or 2 wins away from looking at atitle shot. That could be tonight. Shogun Rua has already been a champion and islooking to get back there again. Beatinga top contender like Pokrovski most certainly will get the attention of thoseat NAF. Both fighters love to work forthe submission so I predict we will see a true BJJ clinic here with either mancoming out on top. The winner will bevery close to a title shot.

Welterweight Fight

Kicky Kickboxer (1-0) vs. Adam “Adas” Przyblski (1-0)

Don’t let Kicky Kickboxer fool you. Helikes to take his oppoenet down to the ground and punch him in the face. Lucky for the fans that is what AdamPrzybiski likes to do as well. Kicky hasthe better wrestling so he should be able to dictate when the fight goes to theground in this one. Prybiski needs touse his superior BJJ in order to make sure he ends up on top to sink in thesubmission or punch Kicky in the face.

Heavyweight Fight

Viserion Targaryen (4-4) vs. “4pac” anaconda Yadav (9-15)

4pac has the most experience of any fighter on the NAF roster. After a 6 fight losing streak Yadav has beenable to wheel off 2 wins in a row and has put the Heavyweight division onnotice. He is fairly well rounded andwill use whatever advantage in a fight he has in order to pull out thewin. Targaryen is also a veryexperienced fighter and finally put a stop to his 3 fight losing streak. Both fighters know that the road to the titleis right in front of them.

Heavyweight Fight

Guerilla “Gravedigger” Monsoon (0-0) vs. Timmy “The Worst Nightmare” Ramirez(1-0)

Going from 2 heavyweight contenders to 2 up in coming heavyweights. Timmy Ramirez showed in his debut that he isan aggressive fighter that is very active for a heavyweight and will mix it upagainst his opponent. Guerilla is astrong wrestler who will look to put Rameriz on his back and most likely worksome ground and pound in this one. Ramirez is going to want to keep it standing and avoid the ground gamein order to outlast his opponent. IfRamirez can get past the 1st round he should be able to turn up theheat and out work Monsoon the rest of the way. If he can avoid being taken down.

Welterweight Fight

Marc Brodeur (0-8) vs. “Shibbs” Ivon MacNaughton (0-1)

Ah yes Marc Brodeur the man everyone loves to see fight. Although at this point some of us have becomeworried about his health and fear for the worst if he continues like this. Brodeur is a tough fighter but he can’t helpbut find himself getting caught in submission after submission. MacNaughton will stand and bang or take itthe ground it doesn’t matter to him. Onehas to think in this fight he will try and get Brodeur to the ground and see ifhe has learned to defend himself there yet. I do see this fight being exciting as Shibbs likes to be aggressive and Broduerloves to keep fighting.

Bantamweight Fight

Pete “Schwetty Balls” Scwetty (4-4) vs. “The Japanese Zombie” Keisuke Okazaki(4-0)

It took a while but Schwetty has finally come into his own knocking out hislast 3 opponents leading to him signing with NAF and being 1 fight away from atitle shot. Schwetty is heavy handed andlooks to take the head of his opponent as fast as possible. He has shown he can dish it out with the bestof them but has some trouble taking a good shot. He has no real ground game so he will want tokeep this one standing. Keisuke Okazakihas also shown to be quite violent and although he likes to kick his oppoenetsto death, he can also be dangerous on the ground. This fight will determine the #1 contenderfor Bantamweight title. So look for somefireworks here and I do predict someone is going to get KO’d.

Co-Main Event

Heavyweight Fight

“Mansur Abdel Salam (6-2) vs. Aaron “The Phenomenal” Anderson 1-0)

Mansur Abdel Salam is the #1 contender for the Heavyweight title. He could have easily waited around for histitle shot if he wanted to. But that isnot Abdel Salam. He is taking a hugerisk against Aaron Anderson and although it looks on paper that Mansur shouldbe able to destroy Anderson you just never know. Mansur has already lost 2 fights from beingto cut up which has to give Anderson some hope that there is a clear way to winthis fight. Of course he will have to doit before Mansur lays some leather into him. Mansur is a beats and looks to KO whoever is in front of him. Can he win the fight and move on to his titleshot? Or will Aaron Anderson shock NAF?

MAIN EVENT

Heavyweight Title Fight

“Captain” Ryan Gives (4-1) vs. “Blackadder” Caiaphas Caine (8-2)

And now it’s time for our Main Event of the Evening. The champion Ryan Gives isa great wrestler who loves to ground and pound his opponents out. He has atakedown success rate of 71%. Attempting7 takedowns and scoring 5. Unfortunatelyfor the champ is in a for a tough challenge in the name of Caiaphas Caine. Caine also likes to take the fight to theground but has some dangerous stand up as well. He has a takedown success rate of 50%. Attempting 10 takedowns being successful with 5 of them. Gives is going to do what he does towin. What will determine this is ifCaine can stop Gives from taking him down and will he try and use his advantageon his feet. Caine does have asubmission game to so we could see him pull out all the stops to come away thechamp. But Gives is not going to justgive Caine his title and will fight to the end to keep what belongs tohim. Can Caine become champion?

Tune in tomorrow night to find out!!

Hey can people take my example and link to their fighters profile when posting as them? If you don't know how:

1. copy your fighter's profile URL

2. when posting, click the thing that looks like a chain link

3. enter the URL where told and your fighter's name (or whatever you want)

4. it will look like

My fighters name

Looks good to me. I'm not trying to create rules for people... it would just be *so* much easier if we could click right from the smack talk page to their profile.

I didnt know how to do it. I wrote all this down so I dont forget. Thanks for the help.

NAF Midweek Fight Night 2 Preview

Wednesday January 18th , New Age Montreal is livefrom Wild Bob's Bar for NAF's 2nd ever Midweek Fight Night!

Heavyweight Bout

Randolph "Cobra" Watkins (0-1) vs."The Canadian Terror" William Li (0-1)

We start off tonight's undercard with the onlyheavyweight matchup on the card. Both fighters coming off tough decision lossesin their professional mma debuts. This fight should, in theory, be a stand up war.But on the off chance this fight does hit the mat expect Li to keep it thereand hunt for a submission against the obviously outmatched white belt Watkins.

Light Heavyweight Bout

Amo "Auner" Resbroko (0-4) vs."Bruiser" Stephan Boater (1-1)

What can i say about Resbroko besides , wow thiskid's got heart! He wants to compete and never backs down from a challenge.Going 0-4 in this professional mixed martial arts career you can imagine howhungry he must be. If he can keep this fight standing and show off those rarelyseen stand up skills it might just be his night. In the other corner is theprospect known as "Bruiser". In his last fight he was dominating his opponent, former title contender Jeffery Shannon, before getting submitted in the third.Without the threat of facing a talented jiu jitsu practitioner we could seeBoater get the takedown and beat Resbroko's face in.

Middleweight Bout

"Stampede" Calgary Alberta (1-1) vs. ZyDXyD Vii (0-0)

Alberta , a very decorated wrestler , was taped 28seconds into his pro mma debut. Without getting to show his skillset thedetermined "Stampede" came into his fight with Sari and showedeveryone that he's a force to be reckoned with at 185 pounds. With a greatwrestling and grappling game, and not to mention a very underrated stand upgame Aberta is a very formidable opponent for anyone. When it comes to ZxD XyDVii there's not much to say. A ferocious muay thai practitioner and well versedin the other martial arts Vii is just one of those guys that has a lot of hypebehind him. Can he live up to the hype and obtain his first pro mma victoryright here in the NAF?

Middleweight Bout

Rauno Tonts (3-1) vs Demian Maia (3-1)

Rauno Tonts is an exciting new addition in theNAF's , already super deep , middleweight division. With good stand up , wrestling, and submission skills Rauno likes to use his well-roundedness to implement a gameplan to shut down his opponent's own game plan and will do doubt look to keepthis fight standing against the very dangerous submission specialist that isDemian Maia. In his last outing Maia avenged the only loss of his mixed martialarts career with a solid unanimous decision victory over Richard Hard , showingthat he's a stand out fighter in the division. Taking into account this is thefirst time Maia is facing someone on his level when it comes to the ground game, this would be an amazing victory for his career and would no doubt put himright there with the top fighters in the division.

Middleweight Bout

Shaune "Boots" Scally (3-6) vs Will"The Beast" Cleveland (1-0)

Here we have a rematch from a classic 3 round boutthat took place back at NAF 8. Shaune Scally is a dangerous veteran and is byfar the most experienced fighter in the NAF's middleweight division. Going 3-6in various org's in Montreal "Boots" has never taken an easy fight.Currently on a 5 fight losing streak im sure he'll look to take this fight tothe ground where he'll have a huge grappling advantage , but taking intoaccount the fact that Cleveland has the wrestling advantage it might be tough. I’dsay that if we end up seeing a repeat of the last fight look out for Scally tothrow away any gameplan he came into the fight with and just start swingingbecause at least that way he might have a chance. When it comes to WillCleveland you gotta figure he's probably going to basically look to do what hedid in there last fight which is clinch up and just dirty box to a decisionvictory. I personally think that Will could pull off a knockout victory if hewanted to but hey, to each his own.

Welterweight Bout

Ricardo Rodriguez (1-0) vs. Steve "TheRock" Rockert (1-0)

Our first fight on the main card and boy is it anintriguing matchup. It’s always interesting to see how a grappler vs. grapplermatch will play out. In his last fight, Ricardo Rodriguez showed great strengthand persistence after getting lit up by punches as he was trying to score thetakedown. But man once he scored it he showed off those amazing submissionskills that everyone's been talking about. In this fight however he will betaking on a slightly more well-rounded but still dangerous submissionspecialist Steve Rockert. Rockert proved himself as one of the greatest jiujitsu practitioners in the NAF today in his last fight where he dominated andwent on submitting a fellow purple belt in the second round. Rockert , alreadyproving that he can hang in there with other good bjj fighters , may just lookto strike until the stronger Rodriguez looks to shoot in. If that does happenexpect Rockert to squirm around, throw up those legs , and possibly sweep. Ihave no idea how this one will play out but expect fireworks!

Welterweight Bout

Martin "The Hammer" Grandmont (1-0) vs.Greco Roman (2-1)

Martin Grandmont has loads of potential! All heneeds is some work ethic. Grandmont relies on the talents he was born with anddoesn't really think that he needs to train, and it shows. Hopefully "TheHammer" can pull off a win and use that prize money to put in some solidtraining and hopefully start feeling better about himself. Grandmont has solidstriking but prefers to score the takedown and look to lock up a submission. IfGrandmont can get the top position there’s no doubt in my mind that he can dothat , but he can’t afford to spend the majority of the fight on the bottom ,which is probably exactly what Greco Roman is looking for. A world classwrestler in Roman will no doubt look to get the takedown and rain down leather!Thats what he does and he's very good at it. After the amazing title losingeffort Greco Roman showed everyone that he's still relevant and a verydangerous opponent for anyone by beating the snot out of Blowed Mexican andobtaining a unanimous 30-26 victory. Nothing against Grandmont but in mypersonal opinion I can’t see Roman losing this fight. Can Grandmont prove mewrong?

Welterweight Bout

ZyD XyD Viii (0-0) vs. "Pure Holocaust"Gerd Von Reitzenstein (2-2)

Man these ZyD XyD guys are so mysterious to me ,another great Muay Thai specialist look for Viii to open up with a wholearsenal of kicks , punches , knees , and elbows! "Pure Holocaust" isanother one of those guys that has so much potential in the sport , maybe if hegot out of cozad and checked out NAF's $40 sparring and cardio gym he may beable to live up to that potential. To be honest I am curious to see whatapproach Von Reitzenstein will take in this fight. The only real advantage he has,at least on paper, is experience. He's been here before and if he can manage toput pressure on Viii and make him respect him we might have a real fight on ourhands. I guess what it comes down to is can he get into Viii's head? Hey allyou mma fans out there know anything could happen when two men step into thecage!

Light Heavyweight Bout

Co-Main Event

Jeffery Shannon (2-1) vs. "Lion Heart" ChrisIrvine (2-0)

And now it’s time for our Co-main event of theevening!!!!!! First we look at the always exciting Jeffery Shannon! The formertitle contender Shannon looked amazing in his last outing, after overcomingadversity Shannon pulled off an amazing triangle in the third round. I expectShannon to come out aggressive and try to put the pressure onto his opponent, the very dangerous wrestling and grappling specialist , "Lion Heart"Chris Irvine. Irvine will no doubt try to get this fight down to the groundwhere we really might see anything happen you would have to think Shannon'snever been in there against another fighter with a purple belt. Whereas Irvinewon his first ever pro mma debut via submission over another purple belt owner. But who's to say, I think anything could happen in this fight , Dont miss it!

Welterweight Bout

Main Event

"Fonzi" Henry Winkler (6-1) vs."Jock" Bernie McLeod (4-0)

Here we are , main event of the evening and wehave a welterweight number one contenders bout! First off there's the man knownas "Fonzi". Very well rounded with an amazing striking game Winklerknows how to keep the fight where he wants it, and can usually end it from there. After going 4-0 in Maple Leaf Combat Henry Winkler comes here to the NAF to tryand show all of Montreal that he's one of the best welterweights around. Whenwe talk about the fighter known as "Jock" Bernie McLoad all I can sayis how great a fighter this guy is. Also coming off of going 4-0 in anotherdivision Bernie's traveled from New York to Montreal to fight in the NAF for ashot at that title and a chance to prove that he's the best welterweightaround. Man I’d call this one a super fight!

The respect is mutual...it's pretty much a coin toss, with Bernie being slight (only slight mind) under-dog mostly due to ID diff (which isnt that big a deal in this case). It'll be tactics that win (or lose) this one more than anything I think.

Best of luck!

Post-fight Statement from Bernie McLeod: "Close, but the cigar goes te Winkler tonight. He beat me fair and square, though ah feel we were both a wee touch too cautious. Ah look forward te a rematch in a bout or two. Henry if'n ye listenin'...I'll be in th' bar if ye want a dram or two."

Henry Winkler

A comment from Winkler after the closely fought win: "Bernie, you were my toughest fight to date and I hate that I couldn't let this fight be a show in the way I originally hoped. Unfortunately I know that this close of a fight means that we'll have to do it again soon. Tonight was my night, but could have easily been yours. You can have a crack at my title soon. And just a note, Tick Tock Tick Tock Jick Jock. I'm coming and now I'm the number 1 contender. Let's talk about the fight over beers"

Jack Dervius

Well Wrinkle, I gotta hand this one to you. You guys put on a great fight and it could have gone either way. But you really laid it on and showed how serious you are about the title. I will take back what I said. Since you have shown a bit of professionalism following your win I am glad to offer you a shot at the belt after I beat Michaels. It's only fair.

I will give you fair warning... I am not one to fall victim to random punches. You better expect to be tested on all fronts, my friend. I look forward to our fight; win, lose, or draw.

NAF 15: Carwin vs. Krzak

Saturday January 28th , New Age Montreal is livefrom Wild Bob's Bar for NAF 15: Carwin vs. Krzak!!

Bantanweight Bout

Esteban "El Inca" Soto Carrass(1-2)vs. Urijah Aldo(0-1)

Our opener for the night features 2 up andcoming bantamweight fighters looking to avenge both their losses from NAF 11:New Year's Hangover. Soto Carrass is coming off 2 back-to-back losses and willlook to keep this fight standing with his natural brawler instincts. Aldo is aunique brawler with a granite chin and will not hesitate to stand toe-to-toewith Soto Carrass when the time comes. Fans should expect a great all-outperformance from these 2 fighters!

Welterweight Bout

Ethan "Bio" Hazard (1-2) vs. Grzegorz"Mlekołak" Kiptyr (0-0)

Ethan Hazard will hope to stop his losing streakat NAF 15 as he takes on the Polish newcomer, Grzegorz Kiptyr. Kiptyr will tryto capitalize on Harzard's back-to-back losses to strikers as he makes his NAFdebut. This bout should be an interesting watch due to the fighting styledifferences from both fighters. We expect Hazard to keep Kiptyr on the groundwith his excellent wrestling and Kiptyr to go for the knockout punch. The bigquestion will be....has Hazard improved his striking defense to ward off thePolish boxer, or will this be a repeat highlight knockout?

Middleweight Bout

Jake "Bearfist" Anakin (2-0) vs. TommyMacKenzie (2-0)

The confident and young Anakin is coming off anentertaining victory over Mason and will attempt to continue his winning streakagainst MacKenzie. The exciting Finnish fighter will keep this bout standingand will look to outbox MacKenzie.

A natural submission specialist, MacKenzie willdefinitely take this fight to the ground with his BJJ Brown Belt pedigree.MacKenzie has a deadly ground game, scoring 2 impressive submission victoriesin his past 2 bouts; winning a 'Sub of the Night Award'. Can the Finnishfighter knockout MacKenzie, or will he be another name on MacKenzie's"Submit List"?

Middleweight Bout

"Bubbles" Mike Smith (3-1) vs. Jose"Coco" Diaz (1-1)

The second middleweight bout of the nightfeatures Smith against Diaz. Known for his big right hand, Smith will look todestroy Diaz's face and keep the bout exciting. He wants to get back into thetitle race after losing the opportunity against Carwin at NAF 10. He's on a manon a mission, and Diaz is another stepping stone to the title fight spotlight.Whether standing or on the ground, Diaz's diverse skill-set will keep Smith onhis toes. An impressive clincher and BJJ Purple Belt, Diaz has a solid chin togo all 3 rounds. Anticipate a close and exciting match between these 2fighters!

Welterweight Bout

"Mute" Mai Ghoul (3-1) vs. Matt Sabre(2-1)

Suffering the first loss of his career, Ghoul islooking to get back on track against Sabre in this bout. The BJJ Purple Belt isa deadly combination of submission skill, counter striking ability, and innateKO power. Ghoul's triple threat skill-set is impressive and Sabre will need tooutwrestle him in order to gain the upper hand in this fight. Sabre has a greatchin and may try to keep the fight standing. He needs to repeat his impressivevictory against Hazard and end this fight quickly if he wants to beat Ghoul.

Bantamweight Bout

Tommy Gunn (2-2) vs. Chris Miller (2-1)

Hoping to add another W to his record, "TheSubmission Machine" takes on Chris "The Assassin" Miller. Gunn'simpressive BJJ acumen left critics in shock as he dominated Aldo at NAF 11,winning his first "Fight of The Night" award. He will demonstratethat impressive submission ability against Miller and will take the fight tothe ground as quick as possible. He'll have to work for it though, due toMiller's superb wrestling and takedown ability. We expect this to be a quickbout that may easily win the "Fight of The Night" award at NAF 15.

Middleweight Bout

Urijah Samuel (2-1) vs. Winnipeg Manitoba (1-1)

Our 3rd Middleweight bout features aninteresting matchup between Samuel and Manitoba. These 2 fighters are stillworking to make their mark in the NAF. Manitoba is an strong grappler withexcellent knockout power. He's a threat in both the standup game and groundgame and Samuel will need to keep good momentum in this fight. We expect Samuelto adapt his game plan as the fight progresses. His counter striking may be thekey to victory should this fight stay standing.

Heavyweight Bout

Brock Lesnar (0-3) vs. Moses Testament (3-1)

A rematch between Lesnar and Testament was agiven, considering the hype around these fighters. Testament will go for the1st round submission as he did in his last bout. Lesnar will need to stay onhis toes to survive this fight. If he can sprawl and counter Testament'stakedowns, he may be able to pull off the upset. He needs to put it all on theline if he wants to continue fighting in the NAF. Will Lesnar gas out before hetaps out?

Light Heavyweight Bout

Cullen Castrello (3-1) vs. Danger David (2-1)

We witnessed former champion Castrello firstloss against Frank in an incredible matchup. Castrello demonstrated the heartof a champion despite his loss. If he can continue that passion for fighting, another title shot is inevitable. Although he'll have to go through Davidfirst. David is a solid Muay Thai fighter with a good chin. He displayed excellentclinching ability against Duncan in his previous bout and has milled hisopponents down to the wire every round. Castrello will need to lock in hissignature triangle holds to win, or else David will work his pincer clinchesall 3 rounds.

Main Event Fight

NAF Middleweight Championship

David Carwin(3-0) vs. Krzysztof Krzak (4-0)

Carwin has achieved what many in the NAF areconstantly striving for. At the young age of 23, the champion has completelydestroyed all his opponents in 1:40 or less. He is undefeated and hopes tocontinue the winning streak against the Polish fighter from Gubczyce. Krzakwill be Carwin's biggest challenge so far in the NAF. The Polish fighter is adeadly combination of supreme boxing brillance and superb wrestling. Krzak isso stranger to the championship scene as a former middleweight champion in theSSF. If Carwin can best Krzak in this bout, he will have proven his status as aworld class champion. We expect this to be an explosive matchup that'll end in1 round. Tune in closely fans, as this bout will be one of the most excitingfights the NAF has ever seen!!

 • 2 weeks later...

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/20/20w9.jpg

Henry "Fonzi" Winkler

"So it's one week from the bout with Vincent Vega and I haven't commented and I think its a shame. Its a shame that such a tough fighter like Vega is going to have to wait 16 days after this fight to train again. Vega has made it clear that he wants to take me down because he thinks he has an edge on the ground. For the record..... He doesn't. I also think it needs to be stated that I've only been taken down 2 times in my career, including 1 times in my only loss. Test my takedown defense please. If you are too slow you'll get caught with the biggest punch you'll feel in your career. And once again I have to wish Jick Jock good luck in your extremely tough title defense. Win and keep the title in the Synergy Fight Team family "

This made me lol

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/12/12b6.jpg

"The Samurai" Mason Michaels

I gotta admit I was offended when the NAF in their infinite wisdom decided to leave my face off the poster promoting this fight. Especially since Dervius couldn't even be one of my training partners at my gym. It'll be apparent though how superior I am for any doubters when I submit him in the 1st round of this fight. I would hope the NAF "poster guy" gets fired & next time out someone who understands who's really the draw would put my face on the poster so even my stupidest fans know I got a fight coming up. Oh & Dervius holla at me after the fight we could use a waterboy or janitor at my gym.
