Krimzn
This one was particularly nice. Never been a big fan of Judo until recently. It's incredible to see applied in MMA. Needs to be used more often. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRNHFuNL0mc

TheRedDude
Nice throw, looked a bit sloppy, but he landed stiff as fuck, riggs must have braced too much trying to prevent the throw, shit has gotta hurt!
Krimzn
Looked like it hurt real bad. I wouldn't wanna get thrown like that. Here's another. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zg8O9dyB5io I thought this TKO was well executed. Good job by Rick Hawn.
TheRedDude
That was sweet lol, just rolled him over with the single underhook, wish i had a fighter with that kind of intelligence/experience.
Guest
That's why the first thing they teach in judo is how to fall. Seriously. Not joking here.
Guest
How was the Riggs fight a KO? He hurt is back when he landed. Besides Judo is a waste of time. There is a shit load of high level(Brown and Black Belts) Judo guys in MMA and you rarely see the moves and when you do they seldom work out well and usually on Bums when they do. Most BJJ black belts started in Judo yet it is rare to see any Judo from them. The Nogs started in Judo for example. Melvin Gulliard is supposed to be a Brown Belt in Judo. THe best MMA example i have seen fight decent guys was Karo and of his dozens of throws in the UFC he never secured any of them except vs Dave Strasser. Basically he would land on the bottom or the guy would roll back up to his feet.

Watch Kharitonov vs Overeem then; every time Overeem tried to do his bitch toss shit Kharitonov would counter with Sambo/Judo technique. Some of what you say is true.. if applied to sport judo rather than the martial art.
Guest
Besides Judo is a waste of time. That is just plain false. It's all about the practitioner really. I'm sure a lot of people thought Karate was a waste of time until Lyoto Machida came along. Many times it's the less flashy stuff that works like trips. A lot of people attribute Maia's throw of Sonnen to a greco throw known as the lateral drop, but in actuality you can see he used his foot on the shin as well as double underhooks, which in Judo is known as Sasae Tsurikomi Ashi, or "lifting pulling ankle block". Even Jon Bones has used several foot sweeps that are known as judo throws, being a practitioner of Greco you would also assume they are Greco throws but he's using sweeps in conjunction...which you can't use in Greco Roman wrestling.. Just for fun, here's some judo throws in MMA... Judo Throws

But people tend to attribute a LOT of the Judo used in MMA to "Wrestling" for some reason, when in all actuality a lot of people just adopt a whizzer or an underhook in place of the grips. Also, Judo in MMA? Come on now. Fedor Emelianenko was the best example of it actually working.

Krimzn
Was it Jim Heites? he was tossing Pham around like a rag doll Yeah, it was Jim Hettis. Made Pham look like an amateur. 10 wins this kid is rolling in with no losses. What a relentless pace. Those throws were executed perfectly.
