Damn, I really tried to keep Vyacheslav out of reach for media cos' I knew his God complex could get him into some trouble sooner or later. But, I guess he's a big boy now, so, maybe I can let him speak for himself for now on. This is what he got to say after his last match.

Vyacheslav Kalashnikov: I'm honored to face another representer of the motherland. Yaroslev might have a decent shot to dethrone the immortal weapon of desdrution known as Vyacheslav Kalashnikov. He's a mean, relentless, aggressive, no nonsense wrestler who fears no man. Derric Styles on the other hand, is known to beat people who know nothing about fighting. Beating even retarted people, like in his last fight. I would be really carefull for what I ask. Only thing guaranteed on facing the ultimate machine of destruction is pain and memory loss, victory is very, very improbable...

'The Russian Bear" Aleksander Yaroslev: We shall see, comrade. We shall see. Май победа шафера и встряхивается основы этого отделения.

Jamaal: "Mr Razi and Mr Sayed, I have always been fearless in the cage, when in victory or defeat. I have been gracious when I am the expected victor and I have achieved the victory, and respectful and brave in defeat, I have always gone out on my shield. In my fight with Mr Dope, in which defeat will surely end my career, I will enter the cage with every intention of achieving the victory. Mr Sayed, you are like a chicken without a head, you cluck around doing very little apart from disrespecting fighters that have achieved far more than you. I am not even going to suggest we resolve this like warriors in the cage, because to destroy the dreams of one so young and unaccomplished would serve me no purpose. Mr Razi, you are young, impressionable and desperate to be noticed, and I would suggest you achieve fame in the cage with brave and heroic performances. You are new to this country, you are desperate to make your mark, I wish you both well, yet I feel a sadness that one day I may have to defend you against crimes far more serious than slander."

Safdar

" You know noffing of bravery and heroism. Dat is not earner or won in a cage. If ya didn't live in an all knowing tyrant of a country you know dis.

Fightin' is about violence and inflicting enough pain on your prey until they quit admit admit they are owned by your now.

Only marks i leave is the scars on my puny opponents reminding them who owns den now. Jus ask my last apponent The Catshew .....he scared of gettin hit so he hugs me then I choke him til he go to sleep.

Has anyone seen dat Dave Thomas daughter Wendy? still looking of her. She looks like Safadr needs to train her properly."

INY Challengers X: Morales vs. Fayyad Review

May 16, 2012

The Underground

Bookmaker: Immortals Casino

Here we go again, reviewing Challengers X! Again, we had a sellout crowd at The Underground!

John Mc Carlton (0-1) vs. Andy Bourd (0-0)

185 Division

Prediction: Bourd

I thought Bourd had the ability to take it the ground to win the fight. Bourd had four takedown attempts in the fight and landed none of them. This is what helped decide the fight, as Mc Carlton was able to keep the fight standing and quickly pick apart Bourd. Bourd was no match for the heavy hands of Mc Carlton, and it showed with an easy KO victory to give Mc Carlton the first win of his professional MMA career!

Winner: Mc Carlton

Running total: (0-1)

Bowman Rook (0-0) vs. Sweaty Mullins (3-3)

185 Division

Prediction: Mullins

The next fight pitted the rookie Rook (eh?) against the veteran Mullins. I called for a fairly even fight, with Mullins using his experience to pull out the victory on the ground. I was wrong, and got cursed out by Rook for it! Mullins tried to get the fight to the ground and couldn't, which was what decided things. Rook takes the win via ref stoppage for a bad cut.

Winner: Rook

Running total: (0-2)

Terry Lyndon (1-2) vs. Meldrick Tyson (2-1)

170 Division

Prediction: Tyson

Our first decision of the night! I expected Tyson to throw hard the entire fight, and Lyndon to try and use his slight edge in BJJ. Tyson easily won all three rounds. He stuffed all takedown attempts, and only had one strike hit him! Talk about a dominating performance. He did everything that was expected of him short of taking the KO victory.

Winner: Tyson

Running total: (1-2)

Dante Rua (1-2) vs. Morty Gaggle (2-2)

265 Division

Prediction: Gaggle

Another fight, another unanimous decision victory. I thought Gaggle was going to try to keep this fight in the clinch while Rua was going to try and keep the fight on the outside. The fight went everywhere, from standing, to the clinch, to the ground. Both fighters wanted the fight on the ground, but not a lot was done there with both fighters only going for better position. There were some strikes landed in the fight though! 8 total! Rua landed more shots and showed more control, eventually getting him the win.

Winner: Rua

Running total: (1-3)

Sinjo Sakamaki (2-2) vs. Will Williams (1-2)

170 Division

Prediction: Sakamaki

I said Sakamaki needed to keep things in the clinch while Williams wanted it at a distance, much like the last fight. The fight saw the boxing game as well as the clinch game. Sakamaki performed better at his game, landing all strikes he threw, whereas Williams could only land 7 strikes. This advantage helped Sakamaki continue to batter at cut Williams to give him the win due to ref stoppage.

Winner: Sakamaki

Running total: (2-3)

Robert Hunt (1-0) vs. Minowa Fujiati (1-0)

265+ Division

Prediction: Fujiati

I expected this fight to find its way to the ground pretty quickly, and it did just that. Fujiati was able to take Hunt to the ground right from the get-go. Once on the ground, Hunt could not do anything except let Fujiati advance position, strike, and make him tap. Hunt was not even able to attempt a single blow, that's how dominating this was!

Winner: Fujiati

Running total (3-3)

CM Brooks (2-1) vs. Serj Wunderkind (1-0)

205 Division

Prediction: Wunderkind

Here I went with a slight upset pick by choosing Wunderkind over the experience of Brooks. I was wrong, completely wrong. Brooks took the fight to the ground and took apart Wunderkind, getting an easy submission victory. Where does Brooks go from here? His only loss was the Fayad, and I believe you all remember what happened to Fayad on this night. Could we see Brooks vs. Fayad II?

Winner: Brooks

Running total: (3-4)

Glenn Wauler (2-1) vs. Lee Gerarld (3-2)

175 Division

Prediction: Wauler

I said Wauler would end up getting the TKO victory in this matchup with some heavy hands. Doesn't it feel good to be right! Wauler landed a whopping 76 strikes from the clinch. It's impressive that Gerarld could take that much of a beating before falling to Wauler. Wauler dominated all three rounds for an impressive victory.

Winner: Wauler

Running total: (4-4)

Ishkabibble Schmukinphart (2-1) vs. James Lyger (3-1)

185 Division

Prediction: Schmuk

I expected Lyger to want to keep the fight standing in the clinch, with Schmuk trying to take it to the ground for submission. I expected Schmuk to win this battle via submission, and he did just that. I hope you didn't go make a sandwich at the beginning of this fight, because it takes longer to make one than this fight lasted. 26 seconds, just long enough for Schmuk to land a sick head kick, cut Lyger, take him down, and make him tap. Schmuk is looking to the top after this impressive win.

Winner: Schmuk

Running total: (5-4)

Sergio Morales (4-1-1) vs. Saadi Al Fayyad (3-2)

205 Division

Title Fight

Prediction: Morales

All signs pointed to Morales for this fight. Though I saw Fayyad giving Morales his biggest challenge in INY, I really didn't see Fayyad pulling out the victory here. He proved all his doubters wrong. I expected Morales to win by cut in the 4th, but Fayyad was with winner via cut, instead in the 3rd. Fayyad dominated all of the rounds, really going after it in the clinch with 107 attempts on elbows! He showed some great cardio and really took it to Morales for an impressive win. The question remains, where do both men go from here? Who will Fayyad face next? I'm putting my vote in for a Morales v. Brooks match up for the #1 contender spot.

Thanks for reading, you'll see a better formatted preview later!

INY – 17 Nikil vs. Snipes Event Review

Ladies and gentlemen, the event is done and now it’s time to give you the breakdown of all the fights. There were plenty of finishes on this card and the rankings have been altered considerably. Let’s take a look at what went down and tell who the big winners tonight were.

Fight #1 – Featherweight

Aadilou "Mortimer" Ankutse (1-1) vs. Shaka Zulu (0-1)

Ankutse made it clear early on that he had no intentions of standing ad trading with Zulu. He immediately got a takedown and began to work for the submissions. Throughout the first round despite a standup the fight was almost exclusively engaged on the mat and Zulu was clearly outmatched. He was unable to defend well and it was also apparent that his conditioning was less up to the task of a protracted wrestling match. Ankutse swarmed him and wore him out with his relentless attacks. Near the end of the first round Ankutse really poured it on and secured an armbar at 3:59 to finish the fight. Zulu drops to 0-2 and needs to seriously consider getting his conditioning up higher and work on his ground game.

Result: Aadilou "Mortimer" Ankutse via Submission (Armbar). Submission of the Night.

Running Total 1-0

Fight #2 – Lightweight

"The Real" James McCoy (0-2) vs. Edmond "The Professor" Montahuge (1-1)

Speed kills. And Edmond Montahuge proved it. He pressed forward and effectively out struck McCoy, countering every one of the very few offensive moves he attempted. McCoy was too slow and not nearly aggressive enough to do anything in this fight. Montahuge outworked him and when McCoy didn’t attack Montahuge pressed the attack. When McCoy did put forth any effort Montahuge was able to effectively counter it and make him pay for his attacks. McCoy was clearly in no position to ever take control of this fight and he was caught early on in the second round by Montahuge and visibly hurt. Montahuge wasted little time and landed a slam takedown and finished off with a few shots to the head of his unconscious foe.

Result: Edmond "The Professor" Montahuge second round TKO (Strikes), Knockout of the Night.

Running Total: 2-0

Fight #3 – Welterweight

“Dumb” Colt Plum (1-4) vs. “Marky” Mark Walburg (2-3)

Colt Plum was on a mission in this fight. He desperately needed a win here to start turing his career around. He was on a four fight losing streak and had to be wondering about the future of his career in the Immortals or the sport in general. He opened up this fight aggressively and went for the finish it seemed. He caught Walburg early on and had him hurt. It is a testament to how much heart Walburg had that he survived not only that round but the whole fight. Despite his best efforts though, Walburg was never able to seize the initiative and get this fight under his control. He was consistently outworked and outscored. These two guys put on one Helluva show and both left nothing on the table. I think that in the end what ultimately cost Walburg this fight was that he had come to this fight a little bit tired and he clearly had been training to hard as the fight drew near. Had he been fully rested I feel he could have score a knockout in the later part of the third round and gotten back to an even keel. As it is he needs to work on his defensive skills and tighten up his striking to be able to land more effectively. This fight definitely deserved the Fight of the Night honors.

Result: “Dumb” Colt Plum wins by Unanimous Decision and Fight of the Night honors.

Running Total: 3-0

Fight #4 – Welterweight

"The Avenging Angel" Gabriel Rua (3-2) vs. Barny Bucket (1-5)

Bucket looked to neutralize the striking advantage of Rua immediately by moving into the clinch in this fight but he was unable to do anything with the position. To make matters worse, Rua was able to get the better of him in the clinch. As predicted the fight did go to the ground. Rua was able to fend off what feeble submission attempts Bucket was able to muster and launch both subs and strikes of his own. However, Bucket proved to be as durable as ever and was able to completely avoid all the subs and was not terribly hurt by the GnP either. Rua could not finish this guy no matter how hard he tried. Despite being dominated in all aspects of this fight, Bucket just refused to give up and he stuck it out to the final bell. Bucket has never been KO’d in his six losses and one has to wonder about that. But he has been submitted before so one has to question whether Bucket’s ground game has gotten better, or is Rua’s ground game over rated?

Result: “The Avenging Angel” Gabriel Rua with a Unanimous Decision victory.

Running Total: 4-0

Fight #5 – Heavyweight

"Regal" Lord Viceroy (2-2) vs. Nikita "The Red Army" Olavski (1-1)

I am not sure what happened to Viceroy in this fight. He was just not the same fighter we had seen in the last few fights. He was not pressing the action. He was not cutting off or controlling the cage. He was just getting dominated in the cage. Olavski took Viceroy down six time during the fight only getting stuffed on two attempts. To compound the dominance, Olavski also effectively scored when ever he got the takedowns as well. There was no laying and praying here. Olavski stayed busy and just worked his opponent over with both strikes and submission attempts. He was unable to land a sub or knock Viceroy out, but he was just completely in control of this fight from bell to bell. Viceroy was just completely outclassed and beaten up by Olavski, who now moves to 2-1 and is starting to build up a win streak. If this is a sign of what we can expect from this guy in the future, then look out big boys, because Olavski is coming. He is obviously not anywhere near title contention yet, but he looks to be possibly an emerging prospect in the Heavyweight Division.

Result: Nikita "The Red Army" Olavski earns a dominant Unanimous Decision.

Running Total: 5-0

Fight #6 – Lightweight

“Dirty Zombie” Steve Cantwell (3-1) vs. Eric “Wizard” Worrell (2-1)

Steve Cantwell is definitely looking to re-establish himself in the top of the Lightweight Division and his first step in that direction was Eric Worrell. He seized the initiative in this fight and moved into the clinch immediately where he put his Thai plumb to good use and worked Worrell over with knees to the body and a knee to the face that laid his opponent open. Cantwell was just getting started though. He continued to work inside the clinch landing elbows and knees that opened the cut up worse and then a big knee had Worrell’s legs buckling. Cantwell pressed the attack and unloaded with a barrage of knees that forced the referee stoppage. Worrell was never in this fight and looked as though he should not have been either. Cantwell moves up to 4-1 in spectacular fashion.

Result: “Dirty Zombie” Steve Cantwell TKO (Knees) at 1:17 seconds.

Running Total: 5-1

Fight #7 – Light-Heavyweight

Hank “the Hammer” Martin (3-1) vs. Stanislov Kryuchkov (1-1)

I had predicted that Martin would work his sprawl, pick his shots, and catch Kryuchkov coming in. I was wrong. Martin made a few tentative probing attacks but before he could really find hi range Kryuchkov showed that he is, indeed far better in his ground game than I had given credit. I knew he had good takedowns, but he showed that they had made marked improvement or that they were simply better than I had imagined. Martin found himself on his back in short order and had little in response to Kryuchkov relentless assault against him. It was Kryuchkov that decided to reset to the feet before going for another attempt on the ground. Again he effortlessly secured the takedown and went to work hunting for that submission victory, ultimately achieving his goal at the 3:18 mark. Martin was hopelessly outmatched on the ground and needs to do a lot of work if he is going to keep up with some of the big guns in the division.

Result: Stanislov Kryuchkov via Submission (Triangle Choke)

Running Total: 5-2

Fight #8 – Heavyweight

Oroku “the Shredder” Saki (1-1) vs. “Killer” Kory Hodgins (3-1)

I have no explanation and to why it was Saki that went for the takedown in this fight. I was expecting him to work his striking ability and pick Hodgins apart. But he went for the takedown and actually got it. Unfortunately this is one of those cases of be careful what you wish for, as Hodgins immediately went for the submissions and eventually tied up the action on the ground long enough that the referee stood the fight back up. Again Saki went for the takedown which he got. It looked a little too easy. I suspect that Hodgins allowed the takedowns since it was a gift he was unlikely to turn down. Miraculously, Saki escaped the first round and entered the second where he continued to try to bring the fight to the ground. Hodgins again indulged his wishes and began seeking a finish. About halfway through the second round, Hodgins finally found that submission. He was calm and patient and timed his attempts very well. When the opportunity finally presented itself Hodgins capitalized and sunk in an armbar. Game, set, match.

Result: “Killer” Kory Hodgins by way of Submission (Armbar).

Running Total: 5-3

Fight #9 – Heavyweight – Co-Main Event

Bruno "Bruiser" Miles (2-1) vs. Jimmy "Kid Dynomite" Walker (2-2)

In our Co-Main Event this evening we had Bruno “Bruiser” Miles taking on Jimmy “Kid Dynomite” Walker. Imagine my surprise when it was Bruno Miles who landed the takedown and start working for the Ground n Pound victory. But that is precisely what happened. Miles wasted little time in getting the fight to the mat and once there began raining artillery fire in on Walker as he looked to soften him up before dropping the big bomb that would spell doom. But Walker was not done yet. He managed to hold on and stall long enough to get the referee involved putting the fight back on the feet. Walker fired off at range as soon as the fight was standing again and he was clearly looking to reverse the momentum, but he got a bit sloppy and Miles was able to capitalize with a takedown. More bombs started dropping and it was not long before the inevitable happened and Walker found himself looking up at the pretty lights.

Result: Bruno “Bruiser” Miles by way of TKO (Strikes)

Running Total: 6-3

Fight #10 – Heavyweight – Main Event

Kenrick “the Beast” Nikil (5-4) vs. “Cobra” Wesley Snipes (3-2)

Snipes knew what he needed to do and he set about doing it as quickly as he could. He landed the first blow, but it was not enough. Nikil tested the waters with a predictable takedown attempt that was easily stuffed by Snipes, then he made his real attempt and Snipes was not stuffing that one. He was bowled over and Nikil landed in his guard. Nikil wasted no time. He immediately started dropping bombs and advancing position. It was just a matter of time before he connected clean and put Snipes in a world of hurt. Once passing Snipes’ guard Nikil seemed content to drop hammer fists on Snipes. I guess that was enough. He cut Snipes and continued to work those hammers as the cut got continually worse. The blood was flowing pretty freely and Nikil relentlessly hammered the cut until the referee decided it was time to let the doctor take a look at the cut. The stoppage was made immediately and Nikil became the Immortals – New York, number one contender to the Heavyweight Title of the world. This contest did not seem to be an appropriate challenge to someone of Nikil’s stature, but then again, everyone that Nikil has beaten he has done so in dominating fashion, the toughest challenge to date having been Ron Sparks. Snipes, will go back to training and look to re-establish himself as a top contender. In the mean time this just put Nikil on a collision course with destiny. That destiny has a name. It is Derric “Shimmy” Styles. Will Nikil be the one to dethrone the champion? Only time will tell.

Result: Kenrick “the Beast” Nikil with a Ground and Pound TKO (Cut) to be come the number one contender for the Heavyweight title.

Running Total: 7-3

That wraps up another Event Review for Immortals New York. I’ll see you folks later. I’ll be releasing my next event preview soon so keep looking for that. Until then take care and see you all next time. I’m Ricky Warner signing off. Now I’m off to the after party.

Challengers XI Preview

May 23, 2012

The Underground

You are looking at the preview for tonight's Challengers XI event! I decided to keep things short and sweet here since we're not too far away from the event itself. As a reminder, my running total for predictions is 10-10, so you could just go flip a coin instead of reading this to save yourself some time! I also have the upset of the night pick as well.

This event will really show what the 145 and 185 divisions are made of. 8 of the 10 bouts are from one of those two divisions. We will see who is able to rise above and move on to the next challenger, and who needs to go figure things out in each of the two well respected divisions.

Sergey Ismangulov v Jim Bo Bob Randle

145 Division

Prediction: Ismangulov

Keys to victory:

Ismangulov: Keep the fight at striking distance

Randle: Work the clinch

Dave Grohl v Antonio Rizzo

185 Division

Prediction: Grohl

Grohl: Keep the fight on the ground, you don't want to give him the chance to clinch, even with an edge in boxing

Rizzo: Live and die by being able to clinch

Uriel Naldo v Nicky Mazzio

265 Division

Prediction: Mazzio

Keys to victory:

Naldo: Keep the fight standing

Mazzio: Use your well-rounded nature to exploit his weakness, the ground

Comanche Todd v Waclaw Bindon

185 Division

Prediction: Todd

Keys to victory:

Todd: Don't let him clinch, either box or work the ground

Bindon: You have one dimension, MT, so play to that strength

Mick Jones v Johnny Rocket

155 Division

Prediction: Rocket

Keys to victory:

Jones: Though you're most comfortable on the ground, you have the edge elsewhere, so don't be afraid to mix it up

Rocket: You need to keep the fight on the ground

Dylan Beretta v Izzy Stradlin

185 Division

Prediction: Stradlin

Keys to victory:

Beretta: Get the fight on the ground and make him tap

Stradlin: Your meat and potatoes game is on the ground, but you have the edge elsewhere so don't be afraid to clinch

Dylan Peterson v Rodney Thompson

145 Division

Prediction: Peterson

Thompson: Need to stuff the takedowns and stay away from the clinch, outbox him.

Landon Williomsonsin v Mavlet Batirov

145 Division

Prediction: Batirov

Keys to victory:

Williomsonsin: He has the edge wrestling, don't let him control the ground!

Batirov: Use the edge in wrestling to control, but don't be overaggressive

Rodrigo Barbosa v Nick Shields

145 Division

Prediction: Barbosa (Upset of the Night)

Keys to victory:

Barbosa: Keep the fight standing, if this goes to the ground, you're done

Shields: Counter your way to the ground and make quick work. Don't let the fight drag out.

Philco Hitachi v Jack Sparrow

185 Division

Prediction: Hitachi

Keys to victory:

Hitachi: You love to go to the ground, but he is a brown belt. Try to punch him out at the beginning of the fight, and attack on the ground only if he is weak

Sparrow: Get the fight to the ground early and often.

Mel Turd's fight will be the first INY fight for Fox Jacobson Promotions

http://mmatycoon.com/gallery/19/19b13.jpg

Mel Turd (click for profile)

Mel walks up to the podium for the first time since joining INY, just days before his match against Jamal Kilgore. He surveys the room before clearing his throat.

Mel: Ahem. Ladies and gentlemen. For those of you who do not know me, my name is Mel Turd, fighting out of Fox Jacobson Promotions. I'm proud to be signed to Immortals New York, and thank Mr. Steel for giving me the opportunity to fight so close to my home in Buffalo. In just a few days, my debut fight will be against Jamal Kilgore. Kilgore is a fighter, he's a beast. He may be 0-2, but he is fighting for an experienced manager, Mr. Andy Wright. I don't have the experience that Mr. Kilgore has, nor does my manager have the experience that Mr. Wright has.

That being said, experience has nothing to do with this fight. That cage door is going to close, and all that it's going to come down to is two dogs fighting against each other. Kilgore, I apologize in advance. I've talked to you a couple times before our fight got set up. You're a nice guy.

Mel bites his cheek and wipes his brow.

You're a nice guy, but that won't matter come our fight. I'm going to beat the shit out of you. I'm going to make you cry, and I won't feel bad about it. Why? This is my job, and once that cage closes, this dog will have the bigger bite. I may be a Turd, but the only person who's going to feel like shit after our fight, is you.

Mel looks over to Fox, who looks stunned. Mel walks away from the mic as Fox scrambles to the podium to try to save face with the press.

Challengers XI Review

May 23, 2012

The Underground

Challengers XI has quickly come and gone, so now it's time to review the MMA event that was. We had 10 matches on the card, including 4 145 pound matches and 4 185 pound matches. If you wanted a little more clarity in each division, this was the event to go to. So far in my previews I have been 10-10 in deciding who will win. Did I shed that mediocrity at Challengers XI? We'll find out, starting with the first bout on the card:

Sergey Ismangulov v Jim Bo Bob Randle

145 Division

Prediction: Ismangulov

We started off this bout with Ismangulov coming out of the gates. As soon as the bell rang, he quickly sprinted towards Randle and started throwing body punches and hooks. Randle got in a quick clinch attempt, but it was for naught, as Ismangulov dodged it and just laid out Randle with a vicious combination. After that, it was elementary, as Ismangulov just tore him up for the victory.

Result: Ismangulov

Running total: 1-0

Dave Grohl v Antonio Rizzo

185 Division

Prediction: Grohl

There were only two fights that went the distance for a very exciting card. This was one of those two fights. I expected Grohl to want to keep it on the ground and Rizzo to want to keep it in the clinch. Grohl was aggressive from the getgo, not minding the clinch which surely was Rizzo's gameplan. Grohl tried to clinch up from the start, and kept the pressure on. Grohl didn't seem to know what he wanted to do. He went for the clinch, pulled guard, swept into full mount, then stood up. Kind of puzzling. Rizzo started to dominate in the clinch, landing some elbows. At this point, he was winning the first round until Grohl got it out of the clinch and just started boxing with Rizzo. Grohl stole the round at the end. The second round saw Rizzo basically trying to clinch and then break the clinch the entire time. Grohl was the only one landing much of anything. After this, the third round was elementary for Grohl. Rizzo started to try to get aggressive since he lost the first two, and Grohl rocked him towards the end of the round, but did not knock him out for a 30-27 unanimous decision victory.

Winner: Grohl

Running total: 2-0

Uriel Naldo v Nicky Mazzio

265 Division

Prediction: Mazzio

I felt like Mazzio was going to win this fight. Mazzio is a well rounded fighter, and I thought he was going to go after Naldo's weakness, the ground. Mazzio must have read my preview, because as soon as the fight started, he went for a takedown and landed it. From here, Mazzio just showed total control on the ground. He started with some ground and pound, and gave Naldo a couple cuts. Naldo tried to stand, but really couldn't do much of anything. In just a short time, Mazzio abused the battered Naldo and went for the sub attempt to get the victory by submission at the 2:58 mark.

Winner: Mazzio

Running total: 3-0

Comanche Todd v Waclaw Bindon

185 Division

Prediction: Todd

Here, I expected Todd to want to keep the fight at a distance and Bindon to want to clinch. This is what we saw from the beginning. In a little under two full rounds, Bindon was only able to clinch up twice. When he did clinch, he landed very few shots. This allowed Todd to basically pick apart Bindon the entire fight until Bindon could not handle it anymore, going down by TKO at the end of the 2nd round.

Winner: Todd

Running total: 4-0

Mick Jones v Johnny Rocket

155 Division

Prediction: Rocket

I felt Rocket needed to keep the fight on the ground. It turns out, he got to the ground pretty quickly, but not exactly the way he wanted. He tried a couple takedowns, but got them stuffed, and suffered the consequences. Rocket quickly went down at the 30 second mark via strikes giving Jones the easy victory.

Winner: Jones

Running total: 4-1

Dylan Beretta v Izzy Stradlin

185 Division

Prediction: Stradlin

I was looking for Stradlin to keep it standing. He has great ground game, but Beretta has better ground game. Stradlin seemed overconfident in his ground game as he went for the takedown right off the bat, and Beretta let it happen. After that, Beretta just waited for the right opening to surprise Stradlin with submission victory at the 1:59 mark.

Winner: Beretta

Running total: 4-2

Dylan Peterson v Rodney Thompson

145 Division

Prediction: Peterson

I was looking for Peterson to try to take the ground early, and Thompson to just try and play keep-a-way. Thompson knew the takedowns were coming, and the came early and often. The fight only lasted 1:27, and Peterson got in 5 takedown attempts. He stayed persistent, got the fight to the ground, advanced his position then got the kimura locked in for the submission victory.

Winner: Peterson

Running total: 5-2

Landon Williomsonsin v Mavlet Batirov

145 Division

Prediction: Batirov

This fight saw both men who are good on the ground. Batirov was a little better. The fight was taken to the ground and Williomsonsin not only did not do much, but did not try to do much. He was lucky to get out of the first round as Batirov was just throwing great ground strikes. Showing that domination, it was only time before Batirov would get the TKO victory via ground and pound.

Winner: Batirov

Running total: 6-2

Rodrigo Barbosa v Nick Shields

145 Division

Prediction: Barbosa (Upset of the Night)

Barbosa needed to keep the fight standing. He only had time to land one hook before the fight went to the ground. As soon as the fight was on the ground, Shields basically laughed in Barbosa's face and made him tap at the 47 second mark of the first round. So much for the upset of the night!

Winner: Shields

Running total: 6-3

Philco Hitachi v Jack Sparrow

185 Division

Prediction: Hitachi

This was a very interesting decision fight. Sparrow went the Ghandi route, trying to win the fight without throwing a punch. Would that even be possible? No strike attempts? No submission attempts? Just love? Apparently it was enough to win. The judges favored Sparrow's takedown attempts and control over Hitachi's 32 ground strike attempts and 5 submission attempts. Number of strikes landed in this fight? 0. Boy these guys loved to hug and rub up on each other.

Winner: Sparrow

Final total: 6-4 (POSITIVE RECORD!)

Interview with the press taken at Team Lakay fight gym, in the Philippines.

Little asian interviewer: Don King, first and formost why are you and several of your fighters training in Asia as opposed to your usual Renzo Gracie gym in Brooklyn?

Don King Jr. : Only in America can I take my fighters all over the worldm and with some of our more recent performances we felt a change of scenery was in order. We have big fights coming up, so why not go to one of the top gyms in Asia right now.

Little asian interviewer: Understandable, now you guys have a fight coming up with Jeremy Revis, at the very best he can be described as a heavy underdog, at worst he is being offered up as a sacrificial lamb. How do you see this fight going?

Don King Jr. : We at the DKJR fight camp did not like this matchup when it was offerd, but with Revis being one of the top fighters on his TUF team, we had to suck it up. Revis is from the streets, the kid has a pair of brass balls that my god would make a lion jelous. That being said, this fight is going to be a bloody brawl. Jeremy may be less talented but he has the ghetto work ethic and he is in great shape. He is prepared to drag this fight out as long as he can. Cardio is not the strenght of many people in the Super Heavy division. That being said it is the strenght of every DKJR fighter and it is what we will use in this bout.

Little asian interviewer: So are you already accepting a loss in this fight?

Don King Jr. : Ohh your lucky we arent in America boy or i would whoop you so bad ur childrens children would feel it. We do not accept defeat, losses happen but you go in a fight trying to win regardless of the odds. Hell i fought Tyson once, I did not win but damn I tried. That is what we expect from everyone, to be ready to go to war.

Little asian interviewer: Now how about a few of you other bouts coming up?

Don King Jr. : Ohh boy we have some badass fights coming up. My boy Coke is fighting in the Welterweight divison against some can crusher. We are going to show him what it means to fight a Don King fighter. Pain is temporary, but victory is forever, and we are expecting a painful war but that in the end Coke will earn that W. Also El Hijo Del Shaggy, the son of our other fighter Shaggy Dope has a bout coming up. He is making his debut, even though some people tell me he may actually be 15, well if he is 15 he is the largest fiftenn year old in the MMA world. He has cardio for days and enough Muay Thai to seriously hurt people, and in this matchup I expect a clinic that would make all them dutch muay thai experts proud.

Little asian interviewer: And how did you get so many asian fighter? You have two natives of Thailand and somehow managed to find a Japanese superheavyweight.

Don King Jr. : Talent is talnet my boy, I was sitting talking to some beautiful woman outside a hotel when I saw Cung Le and Lee Gerard get into a brawl in the middle of the street. This was the kinda fight that would make Kimbo Slice jelous it was so wild. Once i saw this I new I had to sign them, so I did. Both have been average Mixed Martial Artists, but I expect the world from them once they get a little more footing in MMA. As far as Minowa, he was training with Bob Sapp and I saw him slam Sapp a few times. Sapp is not a talented fighter, but anyone who can slam him has enough raw power that I can mold that. That is what we are currently trying to do.

Little asian interviewer: Anthing else you would like to mention before we let you go?

Don King Jr. : Joe Fraizer you are a lie. My daddy had world class boxers in his camp. They beat the real Joe Fraizer. This Joe Fraizer is a lie, and Ron Sparks will expose him. Ron is a veteran of Bellator, one of the best companies in the world, and he is ready to expose the fraud known as Joe Fraizer and move himself toward a title picture. My trophy case is looking a little old, we need some new gold, and only in America can we make this happen. That being said we would like to formally request a Super Heavy tournament after the Tuf. And that Minowa is in it, because he is the future. Now since that is out of the way, Lets bring on the strippas and some alchohal.

Heres my opinion on a few of the divisions.

The 145 lbs division is really to new to determine at this time.

155lbs Light weight division;

Champ - Vladimir Van Kirkland - Tuff as nails. Lost one fight and recently KO'd the only guy to defeat him. On an 8 fight win streak, with 2 title defenses. Very rounded fighter and will be a tuff match-up for anyone.

#1 - Lupe Pintor - My opinion he should be fighting Vladdy now. Hes on a 4 fight win streak and his only lost is to a guy that is currently a champion in another organization. I think he will smash Smith and will give Vladdy a fight he wont soon forget.

#2 - Kasem Muang - Hes a solid fighter but his one weakness seems to be Vladdy. I think he will get by Cantwell and be in position again to take the title.

#3 - Steve Cantwell - Very gifted fighter, well rounded. His only defeat was against the #1 contender and I just dont see him getting past Muang, but if does that will put him in line for the next shot at the gold for sure!

170lbs Welterweight division;

Champ - Georges St Pierre - Its not secret I hate this guy and it pains me to write his name in next to champ.

#1 - Tari Cunha - I still think hes the only guy that can beat the champ right now. I see him beating Rua and then beating the champ in there next rematch.

#2 - Kirk Hall - Impressive stand up and Jiu Jitsu. But his lack of wrestling can be an issue against the champ and Cunha, so thats why I have him at #2. Can he beat the champ? I hope so and that would make a great match up between Hall vs Cunha!

#3 - Erik Bennett - With 3 losses he is still very dangerous. With is questionable loss to Stewart that coulda went his way he would be in line for the next title shot. I see him pounding out Vilain in there rematch and most likely challenging either Cunha or Hall for the #1.

#4 - Jon Monroe - Solid well rounded fighter. He really hasnt fought any real contenders, so his fight with Hudock will be a big test for him. A finish over Hudock should solidify his top 5 ranking and would put him in the mix for a title shot. But who would be his next opponent will be a big test for the Immortals Staff.

#5 - Jack Hudock - A very dangerous fighter, he can win anywhere the fight goes. His one loss was to Cunha by way of KO. I have him ranked at #5 because of that. Is his chin an issue or was it a lucky shot?

If you guys like it, I can do the rest if you like. Sorry Wellman. I got impatient on waiting for yours.:)

Immortals New York

TUF3

from

Paddy O’Malley’s in NY, NY

Peel Steel and his Immortals bring you yet another installment of TUF with TUF3 this fine Memorial Day Weekend. Immortals New York would like to thank all of our men and women in uniform, and remind everyone that our veterans and their families need us just as much as we need them so donate, volunteer, and give back to these fine people just as they have given so much to us. Now raise that flag, sound the bugle, pull out “Patton”, and slap that f’ing coward shivering in the corner…………

We have a new crop of rookie fighters chasing the dream of being an Immortals Champion and here is where it starts. So put your face on a milk carton, disappear for a few, and let’s enjoy the sight of 20 men beating the hell out of each other …it’s INY TUF!

Fight #1

265lbs

Rashiki Cabeltown (0-2) VS Chade Rowe (0-2)

O.K. There’s always some sense of “momma love” when you look at a fight where both fighters have multiple losses with no wins. It makes you want to say “awwwwwww” as if your baby boy just came home from school after getting his ass kicked. We’ve all been there! (I still would be without the help of one magnificent bastard by the name of Brunno Falcone, however I digress!) This fight isn’t about the money, it’s about who gets their first pubic hair, who gets respect! Cabeltown has 2 losses, on of those via a TKO. Rowe has gone the distance twice, but come up short each time. Both guys are 19 years old, but Rowe has been trying a little bit longer so I’m gonna give the nod to Rowe although this is really going to end with “who wants it the most”. The winner gets his first beer and the loser gets to go home and play Dungeons and Dragons with their 13 yr old nephews.

Fight #2

265lbs

265 Derrick Jones (1-1) VS Rocky Nunn (0-2)

Jones is 1-1, and brings with him some pretty heavy wrestling equipment. Nunn is 0-2 with not much to brag about cept for a brown belt in bjj compared to Jones blu belt. Jones is older, he’s been training longer, and I think his monster wrestling skills are enough to stifle anything that Nunn is going to want to do. Jones will take Nunn to the mat quickly, put him on his back, but he has to show a good amount of caution and be very careful not to be “too aggressive” and get caught with a sub for an upset. If Jones takes his time, picks his shots, he should win this via GNP or a decision

Fight #3

265lbs

Travis Radden (1-1) VS Mack Bartley (0-2)

O.K. If you want to take advantage of Peel’s Immortals Casino, this is a fight to put some money on. Radden is 1-1 with his win and his loss coming by KO. Not too comforting! However, Bartley is 0-2, and both losses are by KO. Why put money on this one you ask? Radden has outstanding boxing creds and has shown he can make them count with a KO. Bartley also has excellent boxing creds but has eaten floor-goo twice, thus telling me his chin is highly suspect, and against a monster boxer like Radden, the odds of Bartley eating mat-stew again are good. Bartley’s only chance is too take advantage of his slightly better MT and wrestling props, but I just don’t see him having enough of an advantage in those areas to avoid getting his head demolished like an old casino. Put a few hundo’s on Radden and have a beer on me!

Fight #4

170lbs

Edward Luois lii Severson (1-1) VS Bogi Barera (2-1)

Wow..this fight’s a tough call. We have Severson who has the advantage in MT and in bjj, against Barera who has the advantage in boxing and wrestling. Each skill really counters the other fairly evenly. This is kinda like a Richard Simmons versus Betty White brawl! It’s a toss-up! Both fighters have wins by decision so they both have lungs to go the distance. Neither fighter has a KO or stoppage so there’s just no gunpowder in this firecracker....more of a fizzle. I think both fighters will want to keep this fight standing for a while to soften the other up, Severson using his MT and Barera using his boxing, but eventually it will go to the ground at some point and Severson’s bjj advantage (along with his experience) will smolder Barera and earn a win by sub or decision.

Fight #5

265lbs

Warren Hotop (1-1) VS Bison Bradley (1-1)

On paper, Hotop is a far superior boxer and should win this by KO or TKO within the first two rounds. It should never get to a third round. I mean c’mon, look at Hotop’s mug, he looks like “Franken-Mule” Heee Haw !!!!! The only pain he feels is indigestion from bad oats. He should dominate Bradley with mule-punches and horshoe’d hands of steel! However, Bradley is managed by guru Jolon Williams and therefore “does” have a shot at an upset!!! Jolon’s a great manager and smart cookie, I think he will try to tie Hotop up, clinch, unload some heavy MT, and then donkey-tip Hotop to the mat and attempt to surgically cut Hotop to pieces with some well-placed elbows. I’m going out on a limb and giving the nod to Bradley based on his mangers experience and guidance, his longer training history, and the fact that Hotop cannot get any uglier. Glad to see you in INY Jolon!!!

Fight #6

265lbs

Anderson Fontes (2-0) VS Big Tub O’ Lard (1-2)

LMAO! My o’l friend Tub O’ Lard!!! His royal ho-ho, prince of twinky-dome! Fontes comes in at 2-0, and I think for him this is a tune-up. He’s looking to beat on o’l Tub with that nasty MT he has and improve his record. Here’s the rub MMA peeps….in order for him to get close enough to use his MT (in the clinch) he’s got to control a big o’l irritable, tubby, goo-filled, bear whose in a bad mood after eating 2 losses with several dozen DQ dbl cheeseburgers! I see Tub O’Lard grabbing Fontes, throwing him down, and wearing him down until he submits Fontes with his fairly upgraded bjj. As much as it pains me to say, I think Lard will win this one by sub, have his 5th heart attack, and then celebrate with a dozen rack o’ ribs at “Ditka’s”!

Fight #7

265lbs

Lars Urich (1-1) VS Gronk Kowski (1-1)

This fight may be one of the best fights of the night. Two evenly matched fighters , both with KO power and a much needed win to go out and grab. Both fighters have a win by KO, and both fighters have a loss by sub. Both guys are 19 years old, but Kowski has a little more experience via training. Ulrich will want to go to the mat where he holds a blue belt in bjj to Kowski’s white belt, while Kowski will want to keep it standing and show the crowd is superior boxing fortay. I’m gonna reach in my pocket and go to o’l George Washington on this one (flip), yep… I’m gonna go with “heads” and Kowski’s power in this one to defeat Urich by stoppage (TKO).

Fight #8

265lbs

George Thomas (2-0) VS Zayed Abdullah (1-1)

Here’s another chance to make money off of Peel and his Immortals Casino (sorry Peel) !!!! This fight is a no-brainer!! Thomas is 2-0, both by KO. This guy has “fan-f’in-tastic” MT skills and has cut more people than the Hell’s Angels!! If the fight stays standing, it won’t last long. If it goes to the mat, Thomas has a blue belt to Abdullah’s white belt. Abdullah will be in the land of 40 virgins before the 2nd bell. Put the max $500 on Thomas in this one and tip the naked pole dancer for me! Thomas by stoppage (TKO or cut) in the 1st round.

Fight #9

265lbs

Ravil Lebedev (2-0) VS Jeremy Revis (1-1)

Heard of, “Basket counts and “1”. Yea..well if you put $500 on Thomas in the previous fight, double your money by putting another $500 on Lebedev in this one! Lebedev comes in at 2-0, both of his fights being wins as a result of his “sick” wrestling swag! Lebedev has been training longer, holds an advantage in the stand-up (both boxing and MT), and equals Revis ‘s purple belt in bjj. There is literally no down-side to this fight for Lebedev!!! And the clincher…..he’s trained by the fabulous Jon Boogi, nuff said bitches! If you don’t lay down $500 on this fight, you are literally throwing money out the window and pooping yesterday’s ham and beans on your own piggy bank! Lebedev by unanimous decision. Don’t make me a liar Jon!!!

Fight #10

265lbs

Joey Riggs (2-0) VS Bruce Hoo Le Sheet (2-0)

Finally, a fight of undefeated’s!!!! Joey Riggs at 2-0, both by submission. Bruce Hoo Le Sheet (get it…Ho Le Sheet, yea, they still think disco is “in” over there too)…comes in at 2-0 both by KO. As it is Memorial Day Weekend, it absolutely irks me that I’m being nudged toward Bruce Hoo Le Sheet over Mr All-American Baseball, hot-dogs, apple-pie, and MMA Joey Riggs. However, it is what it is. Sheet is a year older, he’s been training a bit longer, he has 2 KO’s via GNP, and his wrestling will be a huge mountain to overcome in this fight as Riggs only counter is a slight advantage with his purple belt in bjj compared to Riggs blue belt. Ugh!!!!!! I feel so un-patriotic. How bout this? The money here is with (Mr. Whale –Killer) Bruce Hoo Le Sheet to end the fight by stoppage, but my heart is with Mr Riggs as I hope he goes all “Rocky or Rambo” and wins by “grenade, explosive arrow, or even a good o’l American head-butt” followed by a salute, and the crowd breaking out in, “Eye of the Tiger” !!!

That’s it for this preview edition of Immortals New York’s TUF3. In closing, I’d like to salute ALL of our military men and women who serve with pride and protect the freedoms that we so enjoy every day. I want to say thank you to the military families who have sacrificed for all of us, and most of all………..to the men and women who I will we never ever get to properly thank because they never made it home. We salute you and we remember you always!!! Long live “These United States of America”!!!!

Hello everybody mmajunkie.com writer Bob Jones here with a 265 division rundown in the Immortals New York, our show is soon too come out after this memorial day weekend where we have time to work on it. Most of you guys know how the deal goes- we first talk about those in line for a title shot and things like that, then I'll give you the top 10 rundown and the awards: KO king, Sub Artist, and Rising Star. Enjoy ladies and gentlemen

Immortals NY Heavyweights: Who's in line for the title?

1. "The God of War" Vyacheslav Kalashnikov. FinnFighter who matches up well against Styles, needs to show he has a strong enough chin to last with Shimmy though.

2. Suprise title shot here because no top fighter has shown they can beat Styles in INY yet: The winer of Ron Sparks and Joe Frazier. If Frazier wins then he is 6-0 and he also sent Johnny Flanagan into retirment, maybe with some rough Muy Thai clinching and hard kicks he could wear down Styles even though he's much less experienced. Sparks is a Dong King fighter who has been searching for a way to beat Styles for a while, Ron has some tough ground game where we often don't see Shimmy. We also have to remember- Shimmy is going to be tough for anyone*

3. Devin Styles... Don't tell me this wouldn't be the craziest matchup ever. Devin has done very well and is almost as good as Shimmy all around.. Not sure what the two would say to each other though, and who does mom root for?

4. Tournament for the belt. Take everyone but Styles and see who comes out on top, maybe an 8 guy tourney? Who knows

5. Yuri gets a rematch. He was taking it too him in the 1st two rounds with a nice clinch&kick game, Styles just caught him. Yuri must improve his defense though against Shimmy's strikes to show he deserves a title shot again.

6. Bring in outside talent. Maybe it hypes up the org bringing in an experienced fighter too take on Shimmy, maybe Shimmy beats someone ranked way higher than him and really puts Immortals NY on the map?

Top Ten!

1 Shimmy Styles (9-0) Soon to be 10 and 0. I can't see Nikil beating him no matter how much I like Nikil. Shimmy strikes hard and can win when losing as he showed against Yuri. 9 finishes for this guy, 9...

2"The God of War" Vyacheslav Kalashnikov (5-1) Beat McClellan with a KO 1:30 in, 5 straight for him. Good manager and good skills, tough too beat for Yaroslev. Shimmy and him would be a clinic

3 YURI! (5-2) Yuri should rebound after his tough loss to Shimmy. He has a tough Muy Thai game that wears opponents down.

4 Devin Styles (3-1)Excellent all around, needs to beat a top contender though soon to show he's here to stay.

5 Nikil (6-4) Tough ground and pounder who has a questionable chin. Needs to lay and pray on Shimmy to win- tough to do for 3 rounds on Immortals best fighter.

6 Ron Sparks (3-2) Needs to improve striking defense, good ground game and pretty good when on the attack. Has excellent stamina, makes fights last.

7 Jamal McClellan (4-2) Got KO'd and dropped in the rankings. Have not seem him take a fight far, finishes or gets finished. Has a favorable matchup against Shaggy Dope and should win if he keeps it standing.

8 Joe Frazier (5-0) Hasn't taken on top competition which is why he lands here, could maybe upset Ron Sparks if he uses his Muy Thai skills to wear down Sparks to where Sparks won't have a conditioning advantage.

9 Yaroslev (5-5) A tough competitior who dosen't give up. Good all around especially wrestling. Prone to getting knocked around though sometimes when standing.

10 Shaggy Dope (6-5) A fighter who has been around for a while but hasn't improved much. Has lost too the three best fighters he has faced, not especially good in any category in MMA, has a questionable chin, but somehow manages to stick around the top 10.

Awards

KO King- Shimmy Styles 9 KO's is all I have to say.

Sub Artist- Andy Arnold- Suprise pick here, purple belt with 1 sub in 2 matches

Rising Star- Andy Arnold

Heres my opinion on a few of the divisions.

The 145 lbs division is really to new to determine at this time.

155lbs Light weight division;

I think he will get by Cantwell and be in position again to take the title.

http://www.mmatycoon.com/gallery/31/31w4.jpg

Pintor: "Real touched that a livin legend think am gonna whupp a banger like Corey. Gonna go to war with the kid, know he is carryin some real war in those hands, am ready now, know its gonna be tough, think Corey is a good guy. Vladdy, if i take out Corey that your boss predicts, av told Mr Steel, am ready to go as soon as he can make the fight. Be an honor man gonna give you hell when we do this, here is hoping to June bro."

#3 - Steve Cantwell - Very gifted fighter, well rounded. His only defeat was against the #1 contender and I just dont see him getting past Muang, but if does that will put him in line for the next shot at the gold for sure!

170lbs Welterweight division;
