The idiot's explanation as to why Matt Hughes isn't lying when he says that he's not 230 lbs in the off season

 

If Matt Hughes has a bodyfat percentage of 6-9% at 185 lbs, then let's assume he'll eat and get the bodyfat percentage of the average non-athlete while maintaining his muscle mass (which would be impossible without training). In that case at 15% bodyfat he'll be 193 lbs, which is the weight that NateR was talking about. In order for him to get to 230 lbs, he'll need to have 27% bodyfat, which is simply overweight.

 

Rampage Jackson 6-9% bodyfat at 220 lbs. At 240 lbs that would be 16,5% bodyfat, which is his average off season weight. At 250 lbs that would be 19,5%. In order for Rampage to have the same bodyfat percentage that you claim Matt Hughes has in the off season, he'll need to weigh 275 lbs in the off season.

 

 

It's like trying to argue with people that the world isn't flat.

Not to mention that there are people like me, who instead of gaining weight, lose weight when they stop training. I lost 20 lbs in a half year. I have a lot worse diet now and I eat just as much and I still never get above 12% bodyfat. A top level athlete usually also doesn't stop training in the off season. For a fighter as disciplined as Hughes, it's hard to imagine that he would stuff his face like a Rampage Jackson.

 

BrainSmasher, I'm pretty confident that you're projecting you lack of discipline, genetics and achievement as an athlete on other people and that's why you come to these ridiculous conclusions.

Steeve, if that were the case the Marines would have never allowed me in. They are very strict about that sort of thing, though I admit I was cutting from 220 back then instead of 230. Part of getting older. According to BMI George Bush and Brad Pitt are also morbidly obese. It is a terrible standard unless you do not have even the slightest amount of muscle. We cannot all look like Karen Carpenter.

 

 

You can't have a higher weight/height ratio than brock lesnar and claim looks like matt hughes; it just doesn't make sense.

 

What happens is a lot of time people that gain weight don't realize at all.

I experienced it i do weightlifting and i added some size, i knew i had changed but i only really get it one day, i had switch boxing gym and they have a big mirror in and i could see myself near the others person what i saw in the mirror was a complete different person than i thought i was, i looked huge compare to other people it's just the first time i could really see it.

You must not be familiar with how the conversation started. 1st of all I never called myself his doppelganger physical or otherwise. Someone said he swelled up to 220 or 230 when he was not in a training camp. I said I find it believable, because that fits in with my size and we have a similar body type. Obviously if I am saying I believe he can reach that weight I am not comparing my size now to his size after a weight cut. That would be moronic. By body type I mean a few things. Similar height, rectangle shape as opposed to the Phil Davis tiny waste huge lats type, long torso with shorter but thicker legs, and dense compact muscles instead of the over puffed Overeem ones. I don't mean every muscle is exactly the same or that I am currently in UFC shape. I still train some and coach, but I make no claims to be a UFC fighter. I didn't claim the same measurements as even an inch off can mean large differences in weight. I am speaking in generalities. Generally speaking, given that information if Hughes was not in a training camp and gained some weight before starting the next one I could see him getting close to my size. As for Steeve's claims on body fat you have to remember that cutting weight like fighters do will also cut muscle mass along with water and fat. Fighters start lifting less and the lack of proper nutrition also shrinks the muscles some all in an effort to reach a weight their body was not meant to be able to reach. Yeah, they do also gain some fat in the off season, but the numbers are not as cut and dry as you tried to make them look.

 

That being said, I saw Kongo's dick slip at the weigh-ins. I wish I could say you were right about that one. That guy is a horse.

I agree with Eveas. I have seen guys put on a ton of weight and not have an ounce of fat. Look at Vitor for his last fight with Jones. He never planned to fight at 205. HE was still 185 without a fight signed. He was 220-225 and not an ounce of fat. Thats 35-40 lbs above his fight weight and he was expecting to be 213-218 when he stepped into the cage. Wether he was fighting at 185 and in the cage at 195-200 or fighting at 205 and in the cage at around 215. He looked no different. Just a little bigger version of the same physic. Thats the case for most guys who are in shape and cut weight a lot.
