Wolf Palace London smack talk

MMA World Exclusive with Steel Camp standouts Drakorov and Turpin:

Reporter: Huge night tonight Steel, your camp are pursuing two more Wolf titles, and that would make it a historic three world titles held by your camp in this org alone?

Steel: Yes, exciting times for us, Drak and Randy have looked great in camp, Drak has been working with Rory and Edu and Randy with Basra and Rua, pboth look in great shape, and they are ready to make great fights.

Reporter: Drakorov faces are tough test, his only loss came to a ground guy, and some say he will be trouble against a great champ known for his brutal ground game?

Reporter: Yes we were surprised how Drak settled for decision with Blackfyre, can we expect the old Drak to be back tonight?

Drakorov: Inside 4 rounds, I lose maybe first 2 rounds, then I break him down and finish him.

Reporter: Randy Turpins fight should be a classic, the champ looks dangerous though? How do you see this going?

Steel: Randy should finish him quickly, he is just getting better and better and his power is incredible. The champ has good hands, but I think he is in big trouble here, and inside 3 rounds, it's not going into the championship rounds.

Randy: I'm just looking to get that 2nd title, I want to entertain the fans, and the way I fight does that. The champ is a great fighter, it's up to me to show I'm the better fighter right now, and I would love to defend my title inLondon in front of my home fans.

Reporter: Steel, what about managers hall of fame?

Steel: sure if I'm not already in it, maybe after tonight I should be. Incidentally Cannondale is coming to Rio with us, he wants to thank the Rio fans personally for all the support they have given him.

WPR:15 BYE BYE RIO

SO It's the last main card here in RIO and damn I'm gonna miss it. My fighters grew up here, hell even won a title here, but we Brazilians are just gonna take our talents to the UK and stomp some limey faces in. We have a special request from Rory for a little music with these previews so he asked me to post this.

Not bad for an obese man who died almost a decade ago, eh? Now with those parting words said let's get to the mindless violence.

"El Diablo" Mauricio Melendez vs. Dim "Blood" Miller

The first fight of the night is a lightweight clash between Melendez a purple belt with 5 submission victories including a first round arm bar over Brian Winchester at fight night 4. He looks to get back into title contention after getting bounced from the bellator tournament against Dim Miller. A very well rounded striker with decent ground game, in his last fight he used his clinch game to stifle Eugene Taylor en route to a unanimous decision. Melendez might look to pull guard if Taylor doesn’t change his strategy and he needs this fight to be on the feet as Melendez’s ground skill is unquestionable.

Prediction: Melendez by submission

"Sir" Ywain Urien vs. Briggs "Baby" Lovejoy

Ywain Urien is a muay thai specialist, coming off a unanimous decision over Marc Soto in the first fight at WPR: 13. He just totally out classed his man standing up and pot shotted him from the outside all night. Briggs Lovejoy is a brown belt who showed a surprising aptitude for clinch work shutting down the top class boxer Matheus Ruas before repeatedly taking him down. Urien should tool him standing up but Briggs clinch work has shut down good strikers before and I think it might happen again.

Prediction: Briggs by submission

"Sir" Balin Le Savage vs. Andreas Donovan

Balin Le Savage is a pretty pure boxer who just recently earned his blue belt after being horrifically knee barred by Patrick Miller at the TUF finals. Luckily for him that won’t be a problem for him here as the man he faces is also a pure boxer. Andreas Donovan plainly got knocked the fuck out in his last fight. Billy Silver landed a brutal flying knee and Donovan hit the canvas like a sack of bricks. But that aside this going to be a straight boxing match and Savage’s chin is an unknown. But Donovan has proven he can’t take a shot all that well. So pick what you don’t know over something that has proven awful.

Prediction: Savage by KO

Conan Hatari vs. Anderson "The Prodigy" Nogueira

Conan Hatari is a good boxer and purple belt coming off 2 quick losses to Oberyn Martell fights where he was quickly KOed in the first minute. His morale is staring to sag and he needs this fight to keep his career alive. But Anderson Nogueira is a tough test for the wily veteran. Nogueira is well rounded in all areas and holds a slight muay thai and wrestling edge but came up short to purple belt Ceveda Bacon in his last fight, getting tapped with a guillotine at the end of the second round. If Nogueira had showed any ability in the clinch I’d probably give it to him but Hatari is just slightly better everywhere else.

Prediction: Hatari by decision

Sly Guy vs. John McDougall

A fight so nice we had to see it twice. Sly Guy is coming off a heartbreaking loss to Cannondale Trail at the TUF finals after getting dominated in the clinch for 3 rounds Sly stepped off his stool and right into Trail’s massive shin bone. That said Sly has world class muay thai and a well rounded game. John McDougall is also a standout of the TUF tournament coming in here tonight to avenge his only loss in the WPR. He enters the cage with superb wrestling and very solid muay thai. Perhaps he will try his luck with a takedown or 2 after coming up on the short end of a decision in what was a straight up barn burner of a kick boxing match the first time these 2 fought. If McDougall can adapt his game plan and see how Sly is on the ground I think he can pull it off.

Prediction: Mcdougall by decision

"The Black Dragon" Daemon Blackfyre vs. Saleem Ibraheem Omar

Daemon Blackfyre is by far the fastest learning fighter I have ever seen. At 21 he has elite boxing, remarkable Muay thai, wonderful wrestling and a purple belt. But all that learning speed didn’t help him against Andrej Drakorov. That is to date the most skill the WPR has ever had to showcase in the ring at the same time. Blackfyre dropped the decision but proved the undeniable solidness of his chin against the hard hitting Russian. His opponent is no slouch either as Omar is coming off a 30 second KO of Ben Kupper after demolishing him with an overhand right. Omar is also a fast learner but is only 20 and that extra year gives Blackfyre an edge anywhere this fight goes.

Prediction: Blackfyre by decision

Randall "Eagle" White vs. "Powerful One" Scottie Power

Randall White is a former middleweight champion coming off a tough split decision loss to Richard Franklin. He was rocked early but came back but came back to make it a very close fight. He’s very well rounded and he going to need to be against Scottie Power a Muay thai brawler who used his nasty leg kicks before delivering a textbook cross to KO Owen Rose at the TUF finals. He’s also got a solid ground game and is prepared to go to war against the durable former champ. Scottie’s stand up is significantly better and the ground game is a dead heat so I think he takes home the W tonight.

Prediction: Scottie by KO

"Hard Rock Ajatollah" Malaik Hamadani vs. Andraej "Spetnatz" Drakorov

In the first of 2 title fights here tonight we have Malaik Hamadani the current light heavy weight champ. This man is a solid striker but does his best work on the floor with his unreal submission ability and lethal ground and pound. But the man he faces has hit the WPR like a man possessed. Andrej Drakorov before his excellent scrap with Daemon Blackfyre was known for his lights out KO power in all four of his limbs. We learned he had the cardio in the Blackfyre fight and here we will learn if he has the takedown defense to unseat the grappler from the top of the 205 food chain.

Prediction: Drakorov by KO

Roberto Gomez "Chapolin" Bollanos vs. Randolph "The Legend" Turpin

The current heavyweight champ Robert Gomez Bollanos is renowned for his ungodly fast hands and KO power, putting both on display against Raider Vancan clipping the ground fighter with a massive overhand right and putting the champ on the floor. He has superb wrestling and impeccable take down defense. Randolph Turpin is the TIP champion coming into the Wolf Palace to try to wrench the belt from the hometown hero. He won the belt in his last fight using his nasty kicks to chop down the champion. He holds a few edges here in muay thai and the submission game but at this level of the game it might as well be a coin toss.

Prediction: The king is dead, long live the king.

Ahh my fighters don't swing that way at least not from what I seen, they don't go after hot birds. Yes I actually approve of them having fun with the ladies most of the time, just not a dozen or more at a time like Mr Invincible.

I got to the point where i dunno if you know what i mean by hot birds or not? lol by 'hot birds' I mean hot women. Just to clarify! A lot of British say that. I am not saying Mr Invincible could be satisfied with an attractive pigeon or sumin...

Where I come from, sometimes the male genitals is referred to as a bird, not the most common word used but it is used at times by some people. But I find a few things weird from the British, like I used to talk to this girl on another game I used to play, and she used to smoke a lot, so the first time she said to me wait a minute I got to go have a fag. I was wtf. A fag is a derogatory word sometimes used to describe a homosexual male where i'm from.

haha there is a slight language barrier here and there, ye i would 'just goin for a fag' as in cigarette, if i said that in north america i would get laughed at haha

Power and White are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Power throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking White into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Power knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.

Scottie Power:

Haha I got a little carried away there. But I got to say Max Eisenhardt you little bitch, your manager wanted you to fight me from what I heard, how about you or your buddy Yoshihiro Sexyama or is that Yoshi Sexy mama or whatever step up and fight me next.

GOD my preview was terrible. I only realised I had to do it today when I got the message from Rory at 5am about the music. Well it looks like Nxon is going to totally show me up with his next one.

The reason I posted twice was the music wasn't showing up in the first one even after editing so I just posted the whole damn thing again and it worked. This site can get a little wonky when it comes to videos.

WPR: Bellator Semi's

http://mmatycoon.com/gallery/18/18b2.jpgTomas Nxon

Well folks it looks like this is the last fight I’ll get to watch in my beautiful adopted hometown of Rio De Janiero. The bellator tournament rages on and these men come here to fight and hopefully rise above the rabble of the common fighter to contender and hopefully one day champion I mean it’s doubtful but hell, anything is possible. Honestly at this point there are only real fighters left as all the shit talkers have been weeded out and the smack talk thread has become a place of mutual respect between warriors. Odd, no? But before all that we have quite an undercard here tonight and a middleweight title at stake. So let’s get to it.

Zeus "Middle" Easy vs. Jimmy "Bind" The Grinn

Zeus is a pure ground fighter who was inexplicably able to hit a takedown in his last fight despite being absolutely terrible at wrestling and not have a striking game for distraction. He finally proved he could actually get a submission on somebody despite literally dozens of attempts in his career. He’ll look to continue that here tonight against Jimmy the Grinn. A man who despite having a purple belt and damn good wrestling has been tapped twice and KOed in 3 fights in the Wolf Palace. Eeesh, both these guys are really inept at what they do, but Zeus got the tap last time and Jimmy has tapped before.

Prediction: Zeus by submission

Karevul Ikarus vs. "Bloodraven" Bryden Rivers

Yay, a fight where the participants can actually, you know, fight. Ikarus is a world class boxer with a decent wrestling and a brown belt. He’s never fought before but he has all the skills to make a real dent in the middleweight division. And so for that matter does Bryden Rivers. A good boxer with world top class wrestling and a brown belt, Rivers dropped his first career fight after getting trapped in a clinch that he just plain couldn’t deal with. But Ikarus doesn’t have much of a muay thai game either so it comes down to Ikarus hands vs. Rivers wrestling. Tough call.

Prediction: Ikarus by KO

Johnashu "The High-Flyer" Kaneson vs. Leidiano Jos Brito

Johnashu Kaneson is a purple belt who came up seriously short against Franklin Schroeder in his last fight end up on the wrong end of a picture perfect right cross that put him out cold in just 24 seconds. He needs desperately to work on his wrestling if he has any hope of making it as a fighter. Leidiano Jos Brito is a boxer and wrestler who was also taken out quickly in his last fight by purple belt Marcelo Couture who quickly shot in for a takedown and dispatched him with strikes form mount. But Kaneson isn’t Couture and doesn’t have the wrestling to get this to the ground.

Prediction: Jos Brito by KO

Thiago "Bigfoot" Belfort vs. Marcelo "S!am" Couture

Thiago Belfort is a K-1 level striker with one shot KO power who showed improved takedown defense in his last match. A nightmare match-up for him with former heavyweight champ Raider Vancan, the owner of the best takedowns in the division. But Belfort was able to stuff 4 of them before being dragged to the ground and KOed with from half guard. Couture as I mentioned before is another serious wrestler but he totally botched the fight over here and is at about 75% right now. He better get this to the ground quick or else he’ll be the one on his back at the end of the night.

Prediction: Belfort by KO

LT Rogers vs. Patrick "Snipa" Miller

LT Rogers is an excellent striker with solid wrestling hoping to get back to his winning ways after getting outpointed by Josip Peric in his last fight. Although not much to look at by his stats Patrick Miller is coming off a lightning quick 30 second kneebar in his last fight and has showed in 2 fights an uncanny ability to get his man to the ground anyway he can, but that said I can’t see him doing this to Rogers as his wrestling just isn’t where it needs to be to deal with Rogers skill set.

Prediction: LT by KO

Franklin "Leão" Dos Santos vs. "Stumpy" Renan Cavallo

Franklin Dos Santos is a muay thai practitioner and brown belt. He was utterly taken apart in his last fight by welterweight contender Dahl Haas from a clinch where the only way out for Dos Santos happened to be the floor. But he’s got a solid ground game pulling off a slick triangle at Fight night 3 against Rakharo Barbo. He’s going to need all the ground skill he can muster against Renan Cavallo, a brown belt coming off a vicious KO loss to Sam Shields but he’s got 2 submission wins in his career and has proven himself on the mat. Dos Santos has the edge on the feet where he can put his kicks to good use but Cavallo is a better wrestler and I expect he’ll finish this one on the floor.

Prediction: Cavallo by submission

Aleksei Ljosha Putin vs. Cevada Bacon

Aleksei Putin is a nasty striker with decent wrestling and a purple belt with all the skills to make a dent in the light heavyweight division. In his last fight he instigated a clinch with Mikala Konai and his knees just cut the poor bastard to pieces earning him to doctor stoppage. Cevada Bacon might be the first man to put Putin’s ground game to the test having earned 3 submissions in 7 wins. But Cevada’s weakness in the clinch was exploited in an earlier fight with Anderson Nogueira although he avenged the loss later with a submission win I don’t think he has the clinch game to hang with Putin.

Prediction: Putin by TKO

Sum Crazy vs. Grim "Death" Reaper

In the first of our bellator semi finals we have two men known for their uncanny ability to strike with strikers and come out on top. Sum Crazy is a good boxer, very good wrestler and BJJ purple belt, who took down and broke the delusional Steve River’s face with nasty ground and pound from the mount. Grim Reaper is the hard kicking son of a bitch who went shin bones to knuckles with world class boxer Nathan Silver in his last fight but as I personally showed the world, you might not beat him standing but Grim’s Achilles heel actually tends to be his Achilles heel. His submission game is weak despite his solid takedown defense and once again goddamn that guy kicks hard. Grim might get an early KO here but I think Crazy is just too good on the ground to lose if this goes the distance.

Prediction: Crazy by tko

"The One" Mr Anderson vs. Nikola Mester

Mr Anderson actually runs into his first real stiff test of the tournament despite the incredibly game Dark striker hanging in there until the bell despite eating over 175 strikes from the notoriously powerful Mr Anderson. Anderson is the most well rounded fighter left in the tournament and it wouldn’t shock me if he won the damn thing. But standing in his way is the cagey veteran Nikola Mester. Mester pulled off the biggest upset of the tournament by forcing Rajin Kage into a ground war that he just didn’t quite have the skill to finish. Mester walked away with the hard fought victory and totally nullified Kage’s striking advantage. He’s going to need to do the same here because Anderson will tool him on the feet if he can’t get it to the floor. But in his 5 fight career Anderson has never touched the floor so his ground game is a total mystery. A mystery Mester is hell bent on solving.

Prediction: A very close decision for Mester

Jeremy "Bone" Crusher vs. "The Ukrainian Nightmare" Vadim Nazarov

In our Main event of the evening we have a middleweight title fight between two world class grapplers. The current champ Jeremy Crusher has left a long line of tap out victims 7 men deep and dating back to early march. He’s an exceptional wrestler and a brown belt and has proven totally unstoppable on the floor. Vadim Nazarov although a serious grappler in his own right tends to focus more on his ground and pound owning 6 straight victories all by tkos. Granted Nazarov has much better striking skills but he has shown a willingness to hit the mat that might be his undoing here because as good as he is Crusher is that much better.

Prediction: Crusher by submission (of course)

Alright folks that my preview of the REAL final event in Rio. This city has been incredibly good to me and I’m sad to see it go. But the future beckons us toward the seat of imperial power, London. I’ll miss the sweet white sands and sweet brown females of Rio as I am sure all my fellow fighters will. I hope the lights of London are all they are cracked up to be, although Rio might not be the safest or cleanest city on the planet it’s undeniable charm will leave an indelible mark on all the fighters from me, all the way back to when Mitsuyo Maeda walked these sands and met an interesting man by the name of Carlos Gracie. It’s this tradition that brought fighters from all over the world to this humid little backwater to test their skills against the best of the best. Goodbye Rio you will be missed.

Good work :) I too miss Rio and the Brazilian babes already. But I must disagree on some predictions naturally.

I respectfully disagree though Nazarov is going to be the new champ.

I also think the close decision win will go to Anderson but he's my fighter so of course I will think that lol.

I also say poor Belfort, he's a white belt with no wrestling going against a hardcore wrestler with a purple belt, not a good fight for him, you Mr Nxon should know what is a nightmare for him this fight is and he has little to no chance of winning. How can a ground fighter such as yourself pick the stand up fighter in this fight?

Mr Anderson:

Yep i'm afraid, i'm afraid to fight Mester, i'm afraid to fight you, i'm afraid of your hairy face, i'm afraid you're the real Sasquatch that has secretly came to WPL to win the belt and eat all of his victims. I have very irrational fears right?
