Acoustic
It just seems sorta weird for someone to be able to spart BJJ all day long, get his BJJ "Primary" up, and be worthless in submissions or anything else lol. Anyone care to explain?
Wolf
Thats not totally true. iirc i had a fighter with a purple belt facing a white belt but only had around feeble or mediocre submission, but was still able to submit my opponent. Guest
Sparring slightly increases secondaries.
Guest
Primary Sparring helps your overall game & Secondaries target specific skills. Focusing on your primary sparring will make your secondaries pop slower but you'll have more general knowledge & experience. Focus on secondaries & your technique will get better but your primaries will take longer to pop. They both compliment each other so it's good to train both. It really depends on the situation. Some times you'll need to focus on a specific skill if your opponent is really good at 1 thing. Other times you'll need to work on your entire game or just keep your overall skills sharp for the next guy. Hope that helps.
Guest
Way back in the day a gentleman (cant recall who) sparred his way to a BJJ red belt, hit the QFC to test his new beast. He got a lucky first fight: a purple belt. He was submitted like nothing.
Guest
Aka the belt primary has less to do with your ability than your secondary skills does. I've also seen white belts submitting blue belts and such.
