shortfuse122829
The ground game is always going to be hard to balance, especially w/ the way the activity level is STILL on the ground. If you decrease ref stand-ups too drastically or increase GNP landing % too drastically you are going to reverse the engine where fights never get stood up because guys are having too much success or because the referee gives too much time for guys to work. I wish we could fix this though because I think it's extremely lame that you work so hard to get to a TD, especially when it's late in a fight and you may really need one...and then because your fighter needs to "rest" for 10 seconds the fight gets stood up 5 lines later. But in the same respect, 5 lines is about a minute on the ground half the time. So while I'd like to see my guy get say 10 lines of text to "work" before the referee even considers a stand-up....can you imagine the amount of bitching that would go on if a TD led to a minimum 2 minutes on the ground w/ 0 success on any moves?? People would be losing their damn minds about how broken the engine is. IMO if you want to fix the ground game (& I've been saying this for 2+ yrs now) 1. You need to drastically change the amount of activity on the ground. Not just base it on what the top guys aggression is instead of the combination of top & bottom guy because that shit has had no impact on stopping ref stand-ups & high control from bottom is still far too effective 2. We need to have another pretty drastic decrease to ref stand-ups. I'm not sure what goes into the ref deciding when the stand-up happens at this point anymore....it used to be not having successful moves but sometimes now a guy lands a GNP strike, then has 1 control move and the fight is stood up....but whatever it is it needs reduced yet again 3. We still need to improve guys ability to land from guard and half-guard....that needs an additional increase. a. but w/ that change also needs to come a change to the amount of energy GNP from guard and half-guard takes. It should be pretty minimal & my reasoning for that is because of how energy levels impact fights. I don't think landing a TD and maybe 10 GNP in a 2 min span should give a fighter a big enough energy advantage where suddenly an Exceptional Exceptional striker is totally rag-dolling a double elite striker. I do think that it should assist him in having more success on the feet because he's fresher & because now he has the opponent hesitating because of the TD threat....but the longer the fight stays on the feet, the more it should start to favor the double elite striker again & I don't think that's case a lot of times. I'm sure I am probably missing a few thoughts & I will go back in to add them as they come to me. I think those changes would go a long way in helping the ground game. Basically by decreasing stand-ups and increasing the amount of successful moves on the ground should really help to eliminate or at least hold of for a considerable amount of time those pesky ref stand-ups. Then the decrease in energy lost from those GNP's and the additional activity on the ground should help to counteract having more success & the decrease in stand-ups from preventing the ground game becoming too overpowered
Rocco42192
I don't think that the engine i any more random after the changes than it was before it.
rac2
Stu's got it right. And I think fuse basically found designed the plot to decrease those ref standups and have an actual ground game: don't mess with the ref - if two mins with no activity, then it's fine he has to get those fighters up -, but tweak the amount of activity in the ground... if after a minute only a couple of transitions and a couple of strikes were attempted for a guy who's set 70% aggressive 90% finish, then something is wrong - he's not being what I understand the concept of "70% aggressive 90% finish" means really. Maybe tweaking what "70% aggressive" means is the way to go...
shortfuse122829
I do want to add though that I still find success on the ground even under this engine despite most people's complaints. http://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=750569 http://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=760138 http://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=752462 (got subbed late in this one but still had success prior to getting caught) http://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=749975 http://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=757561 (did terrible w/ my 2 TD's in this fight but I was being dominated so energy probably didn't help) http://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=758222 http://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=758804 (1 quick stand-up in this one) http://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=754550 http://www.mmatycoon.com/fightcommentary.php?FTID=752146 That's pretty much every ground fight where I had offensive wrestling & actually landed a TD since the changes & I have very few cases of quick ref stand-ups
SpizzEnergi
I have "randomness" but (on my part) it's not the fight engine, it's my inexperience with sliders.
